Godus: Top 10 tips, hints, and cheats you need to play a better god!

godus voyage guide

In Godus, you are the creator of all things. That comes with the responsibility of making the world suitable for your followers. Sculpt and shape the world around you to help them grow and prosper. As you get further, you'll need to use your God powers in order to obtain the belief of your followers. The more they thrive, the more they believe in you. Belief isn't free and you'll have to use yours wisely, or you'll end up having to spend real money in order to get things done. Here are our top tips, hints, and cheats to building a thriving Promised Land in Godus!

1. Speed up time for instant belief and building completion

Like many other games, Godus is also susceptible to speeding up time artificially in order to complete goals quicker. Just hop into the Settings app of your iPhone or iPad and speed time up a few hours. Hop back into Godus and everything you were working on should be complete. You should also have lots of belief to collect. Once you're done, hop back into time settings and correct things again. None of your progress will be taken away.

2. Boost your workers regularly

Tap on any worker and you should notice a boost option. Make a regular habit of boosting workers because if you don't, they'll get fatigued. This causes projects to take longer and in some cases, they'll go sleep instead of work. At that point you'll need to trade in gems in order to wake them up, or you'll have to wait. Instead, just be sure to boost everyone regularly to make sure your followers are happy and stay at maximum productivity at all times.

3. Don't use leashing unless you need to

Every time you order someone to a specific job site with leashing, you'll use belief. Typically ordering people to work simply by tapping on their abode is sufficient. If there's a job you want to be first priority, then order people to specific sites. If you just want work in general done however, let your followers do their own thing.

4. Follow the butterflies

Chests contain all kinds of goodies in Godus and you'll want to make sure you're finding and opening as many as you can. An easy way to know where to locate a chest is to follow the butterflies and then start sculpting the land in order to uncover it. You never know what you're going to get but if you can get at a chest, by all means, do it.

5. Keep followers happy with the God Seed

Once you obtain the God Seed, make sure you put trees by your followers' homes. You can also increase happiness by using the Rain of Purity once you obtain it. If you don't keep your happiness up, your followers will abandon you for the Astari, so be sure you keep an eye on them.

6. Voyages are a quick way to rack up stickers

You'll need stickers to advance in Godus and one of the easiest ways to do it is by going on voyages frequently. The same quests cycle themselves every 24 hours as well so after a while, you'll learn how to avoid obstacles and make it through voyages at lightning speed. Just be sure you do them in the time you have remaining each time.

7. Start the voyage cycle over again immediately

If you don't want to play harder voyages and would prefer sticking with what you know, you can easily start the cycle over again by hopping into your iPhone or iPad's Settings app and turning time forward 24 hours. This will make Godus think a new day has started, and voyages will start over.

8. Clear trees and rocks for bonus belief

Every time you clear a rock or tree, you'll gain some belief. This is an easy way to rack some up if you're running low. You aren't going to gain enough to sculpt an entire mountain side but you'll get enough to dole out a few orders and keep going.

9. Use the Finger of God to destroy abodes you don't want anymore

After a while you'll probably want to remove older abodes that are smaller and produce less in favor of larger ones. While you can always condense them into a farming settlement to do this, you can also use the Finger of God once you've obtained that particular power in order to destroy old abodes. Then you can order followers to rebuild on the same land.

10. Use your God powers to keep the Astari away

The Astari have a nasty habit of trying to wreak havoc on your settlements. Use your God powers to scare them away. While sculpting the land spooks them, try drowning them or putting water around settlements where possible in order to ward them off easier when you need to.

Godus Beginner’s Guide: Tips, Tricks & Strategies to Sculpt a Beautiful World

By: Author Oscar L. Schmidt

Posted on Last updated: January 29, 2022

Godus is a sandbox simulator from 22Cans, where you play as an otherworldly being with the power to sculpt the land. After saving a pair of people from drowning by sculpting a beach next to them, they start worshipping you as their god. Whether you like it or not, they’re your problem now! Your people’s goal is to light the Beacons, reach the Ark and unlock the land of Weyworld, where you will do more of the same as you do in Homeworld. Except with some restrictions on settlement construction, and granite preventing you from sculpting in certain areas.

godus guide

Meanwhile, the first inhabitants of Homeworld, the Astari, torment your people, starting with childish mockery and escalating into real violence. Will you deal with them by poisoning their land, burning their homes and raining fiery death from the sky? Or will you make your people happy enough to shrug off the Astari’s insults and arrows, and eventually make these masked ones one with your own people? Either way, it’s gonna be hilarious, and we’re here to help.

Stay with us and check out our Godus beginner’s guide for a bunch of useful tips, tricks and strategies to sculpt a beautiful world!

MOVEMENT AND EXPANSION

godus expansion

Your primary form of “movement” in Godus is expanding your people’s control of the terrain. A lot of what you’ll be doing is some sort of tradeoff between speed vs efficient land use. Speed being building loads of small houses to get as much construction range as possible, or leashing to get to areas faster, and efficient land use being construction of larger housing and forgoing leashing early on and relying on house-hopping to reach areas.

Leashing: Speed Vs Cost-Efficiency

godus leash

Leashing is an ability you get early in the game that allows you to directly command your followers. This will be a lot more useful later on, but early in the game you want to use this minimally, as you don’t really have much Belief generation by the time you unlock it. Use it sparingly, and for very important tasks like repairing landmark structures and lighting the Beacons, and only when you aren’t planning to do any heavy sculpting jobs.

Even after getting a good Belief income, using Leashing can be a bit risky since the AI’s pathing ability leaves much to be desired. Before using it, make sure you carve a very clear path to where they want to go, since if they get stuck, they may very well just go back home, with the Belief you just spent completely wasted.

When do you know leashing is readily available? Once you’re able to consistently have about 2000 Belief in safe reserve, by which time you have also unlocked areas where Leashing is most badly needed: Mountainous terrain. You’ll generally need to leash your Builders if you want them to light Beacons on top of mountains, or even simply to build homes and start a town all the way up there. As long as you make a stairway easily accessible to them (and clear out the blight in the area), your followers should be fine.

Seeing Jumping Circles? Dig It Up

godus chest

Jumping circles in the map mark treasure chests hidden underground. To get them, you sculpt the land to reveal them. Make sure you don’t build over it instead, or else you’re gonna have to demolish a house just to get the loot. Early on, you’ll need to save your Belief to dig these up, which is why Leashing is generally ill-advised early in the game before you have strong Belief generation.

House-To-House Hopping, And Altitude Shenanigans

godus beach hopping

One technique you can use to cover a greater distance is to build near the shore and on desert. As while houses built at lower altitudes give less of a Belief bonus (early in the game, they give the same Belief as any home, but later on you unlock a card that increases Belief generation depending on altitude), they do build very fast, especially the small huts.

On top of this, sand is free to sculpt until a certain depth and altitude. If you see a nice clear desert path leading to an opening, you can use the desert or beach path to rush to the clearing using small housing (Huts, the smallest type of house, have a much wider build range than bigger houses like Lodges or Cabins, and only take a few seconds to build), then once you arrive at the main location you want to take, raise the altitude or expand the area so the houses built there are of higher quality, or just plain bigger even if they’re still on the low sands.

GENERAL TIPS AND TRICKS

godus american flag

There are a few things to keep in mind, particularly what to prioritize with gem spending and certain things that get harder as the game progresses. Here they are so you can watch out for them.

Houses Only Stay Free Early

godus noob tent

In the very earlygame, you can build Huts for free. Once you unlock Farming settlements though, houses cost Grain to build. Early on, you might want to take advantage of free housing by expanding, though eventually you WILL need several farms to unlock the highly important Beautify power, to prevent your followers from dying everytime they have to walk through a swamp or blighted land.

20 Starter Gems? Spend It On A Party!

godus starter gem party

You have a couple of good options to spend your first 20 gems on, if you don’t want to watch a ton of ads to get more. You can get two powerful things: Your first Fountain, and an upgrade to Beautify that makes its effects last 8 hours longer. These will help keep your people’s happiness up, since you might need your first Fountain early so you can prevent the Astari from converting your followers in their first festival.

Meanwhile, Beautify is the absolute fastest way to raise Happiness, in spite of its 400 Belief per second cost. Getting the second upgrade for Beautify makes its effects permanent, so you can watch ads for that instead after the first upgrade.

Holy Heck Not The Holy Forest!

godus flat tree

Just a heads up, you CAN accidentally flatten your own Holy Trees after you spawn them in with the

Holy Forest power. Be careful where you drag your finger so you don’t accidentally shoot your own Belief generation in the foot! Speaking of trees, normal trees also give a small boost of Belief generation to nearby houses, but less than that of Holy Trees. Not to mention a new home will still give more Belief than a ton of trees clogging up the same area.

Zoom In For Precision

godus stair zoom

Precision sculpting is generally difficult from a distance, and this only gets worse once you unlock the 3x Sculpting Power card. If you want to sculpt small stairs and such, you’ll need to zoom in really hard to make sure you don’t waste Belief accidentally cutting a huge swathe with a small finger movement.

Also, keep this in mind when planning sculpts: Try to plan out paths involving big cuts, since precision is generally difficult either way and is a great way to accidentally waste Belief. Thankfully, you don’t get the x3 Sculpt Power in Expeditions, since precision sculpting gets pretty important there later on. That being said, don’t skip out on unlocking the 3x and 5x Sculpting Power cards either: While it makes stairs harder to make, it makes expanding build areas much, much easier.

When Out Of Options, Watch Ads Or Take A Break

godus store

Sometimes, you’ll just find yourself out of rocks to break, out of Belief to sculpt, and out of Followers to explore from the Docks, and your Followers are taking their sweet time generating Belief. Not to mention you’ve built over every possible plot in the area and it’ll take your builders several hours to light the next beacon.

Since you’ve got nothing better to do, you have two options: Leave the game and go do something else, or watch some ads for Gems. There’s no limit to how many ads you can watch a day, and each one gives you a free Gem. It’s worth watching enough of them perhaps for that final Beautify upgrade, or merely to get Sticker Packs if you’re having a rough time with the Voyage of Discovery mode (it gets particularly merciless if you’re running on an older, slower tablet, because precision sculpting, a need for speed, and framerate lag do not mix). Play Slowly…

17 hours to mine in godus

Speaking of taking breaks, the slow recharge of Belief mixed with its fast usage means you should take your time playing this game. Instead of sitting there eagerly waiting for pink bubbles to come out, you could go do something else like catch up on work. Once you come back maybe half an hour later, you can collect Belief then enact your plans for the next couple of minutes.

… But Play Often

godus coming back

Your people love you, and get unhappy when you leave for extended periods of time. No joke, the happiness meter drops very slowly when you don’t play for too long. Not even two days off and the next Astari party might start attracting converts, even if you have that fancy fountain or a nice Holy Forest installed.

If you wish to play this game long term, you should at least check on your followers once or twice a day to keep them happy. The best time to do this is around when you’d expect the Astari Festival to occur, so you can spam Beautify for a timely Happiness boost.

THE ASTARI: TODAY’S ENEMIES, TOMORROW’S FRIENDS, UNLESS YOU KILL THEM ALL

godus astari

Those little mask-wearing jerks constantly making fun of your Followers everytime you log in are the Astari. They don’t believe in you, having built a temple to their own deity in the center of their village.

They are also far stronger than your people, able to swim and climb terrain more effectively, though they have about the same amount of brains. Which is to say, not much. It may be satisfying to crush, smite and strike them down, but perhaps they may be reasoned with? Here are the three ways to deal with the Astari.

godus astari temple

The most obvious, wasteful and fun way to deal with the Astari is to drop a meteor on or splat them with the Finger of God power, or plant a swamp in their village. Note how their town, Astariville, isn’t obscured by the Grey (ie the fog of war): While you can’t sculpt over their land, even with meteors, you can set their trees on fire, splat the ones that come out to douse it, or even annihilate their homes with aforementioned meteors.

Killing them all and destroying their town allows you to take control of that little spot their village occupies, though if you haven’t cleared the Grey around it by lighting the Beacons, you can’t actually send Followers there to repopulate and rebuild the place.

Plain Old Normal Progression

godus beacon

By progressing the game normally and lighting the beacons leading to their village, you will eventually be able to send a Follower to Astariville and convert them to follow you. While perhaps your people aren’t as happy as theirs because of your people’s overwork-er-industrial efficiency, seeing your massive amount of territory and population probably scares them into saying yes.

While this won’t stop Astari raids from attacking you later in the game (rather than coming from their village, they’re spawned in as a random event), you do get control of their main village and a lot of Astari, who act as normal builders or Breeders when under your control.

Party Harder

godus party button

Astari Festivals will typically convert your followers to their faith if your followers’ happiness is below the Astari’s. But if YOUR people are happier, their festivals become a liability, allowing your hard partying people to convert them instead! This is your main nonviolent way to deal with the Astari early on, and any followers you lost will be the first ones to convert back if you’ve fixed your Happiness meter, usually by spamming Beautify all over town or activating the Fountains you have installed.

Afterwards, the Astari people themselves will join up, though you will still need to reduce Astariville’s population to zero (through force or by lighting all the beacons) before they do anything other than make homes for themselves in your village. Initially, converted Astari are unable to join Settlements or generate Belief or construct new structures for others. Once you take Astariville though, they become normal Builders and Breeders in function, and sadly lose their ability to traverse terrain effectively.

PHENOMENAL COSMIC POWERS

godus powers

As the god of your people, you will eventually unlock new powers, not through your own strength, but the strength of your little followers’ faith in you. Unfortunately for them, some of these powers are extremely dangerous and destructive. Or just plain annoying to them. And while they don’t get a say on how you use them, they DO get a say on whether or not they want to stay with you after you do so!

Environmentalist’s Dream

godus forest

The Holy Forest power is the first one you get, an initially cheap power that gets more expensive in Belief the more you use it. It plants a tree where you point, and any nearby Settlements and Abodes get a small buff to both their Happiness and Belief generation. Even when its expensive, it is still worth doing, as it eventually sprouts more Holy trees nearby on its own, making the buff stronger.

The only bad thing about this is that Holy Trees can occasionally catch fire during thunderstorms, just like any other perfectly average tree. A problem since they’re most effective when placed in the middle of your only moderately flammable housing zones.

Precision Karmic Comedy

godus finger

Eventually, you will unlock the Finger of god (That’s how it’s written in the game) ability. You can use this to splat your Followers like a jerk, smite enemies who wish to harm your people, or most boringly but importantly, demolish any homes you don’t want anymore. This becomes especially useful everytime you unlock some new form of housing: For the space taken up by 2-3 Huts, you can usually place a larger structure with better space-to-population efficiency.

Usually, your first target for this would be your old starter Shelters, the tents your people built during the tutorial. Keep note though: You will end up with homeless Followers, who very slowly lower your Happiness meter over time, on top of that initial Happiness penalty you incurred from, you know, destroying their homes in front of them.

Make sure you build homes for them nearby using that space you just freed up, and order them into such homes or empty construction plots using Leash in case they’re too dumb to take the hint. The happiness penalty also occurs even if you’re using it to defend your people from attackers: Watching someone get utterly flattened out of nowhere scares the heck out of anybody watching, even the guy you just rescued.

It’s The End Of The World As We Know It, And I Don’t Feel Fine At All!

godus meteor

The Meteor Strike power is your most destructive and costly, costing a whopping 6000 Belief and incurring a Happiness penalty for its use. It lets you drag your finger around the screen, determining the direction of a meteor; This craters terrain, destroys homes and people, sets fire to anything not lined with asbestos, and leaves a slight spread of blight in the impact zone.

It has a much wider fire radius than it does a terrain destruction radius, making it poor for land flattening jobs near your peoples’ homes. You must use this only in the direst of emergencies as it is expensive, devastating and will generally have your people seeing you as less of a deity and more of a terrible apocalyptic demon. Even if you WERE using it to save them!

Swampy Stinky Agonizing Death

godus swamp

The Swamp power generates exactly what it says on the tin, a blighted swamp. Swamps slow down, drown, and can lethally poison anyone walking through it, whether it be invaders or your own followers. While it can be used to protect your towns from the more violent Astari raiders and other bad guys, it smells bad and generally leaves a foul taste in the mouths of anyone nearby, incurring a Happiness penalty while it’s active.

A Calm Rainy Day

godus rain of purity

The Rain of Purity power allows you to summon a raincloud, costing 100 Belief for every second it’s active while it follows your finger across the screen. This is an important upgrade to get early on, since it allows you to water Farms to make them grow faster, and lets you put out fires. Always save some Belief for a rainy day, or else you might have a burny day instead.

Prettiest Town Award

godus beautify

The rather busted Beautify power allows you to pretty up a place. In in-game terms, this means permanently removing Blight from an area while temporarily raising Happiness when used around peoples’ homes. At 400 Belief per second, this is costly, but the happiness boost is so huge that saving a couple thousand Belief then using it right before the Astari Festival is generally worth it, especially if you drop it over a heavily populated area.

The more people see the prettiness, the more effective it is for its cost. The best part? Its gem upgrades are very powerful, with the first 10 gem upgrade making its effect last 6 hours rather than a measely 30 minutes. And the second upgrade, if you have the patience to watch another 20 ads after the first 10, making the prettification effect (and therefore the happiness boost) permanent.

SHRINES TO YOUR GLORY, OR MISERY THROUGH OVERWORK?

godus shrines

Shrines are structures that typically give a buff to an area’s productivity, usually at a small cost to Happiness. The happiness penalty is small enough that you can easily solve it with Beautify once you’ve got it, so don’t worry too much about placing them down. There are many of them, but some of them aren’t particularly important for normal play.

Overpopulation Time

godus shrine of capacity

The Shrine of Capacity adds 1 extra space (only in in-game terms, apparently this is just the people cramming together in disgraceful disregard for social distancing) to all the structures within its area of effect. Naturally, this makes the people affected by it unhappy, because now there’s less personal space to go around.

This can be useful when placed next to special Settlements, since this allows them to generate one extra Miner or Farmer for an initially (yeah the Belief price rises everytime you use this) cheaper amount of Belief compared to constructing a new Settlement. Considering how its effect is determined by house and not by population percentage, it’s best placed in areas with lots of small houses rather than larger homes. Shrine Of Speed

godus shrine of speed

A useful shrine to have around Farms and Mines, but less useful around normal towns and Builder settlements. The Shrine of Speed not only increases everyone’s movement speed within its area of influence, it also makes them work faster, cutting down time on tasks like mining, gathering wheat and construction.

It’s less useful near Builder setlements since Farming and Mining are repeat tasks: Once you build a house, you’re done with it unless you splat it with your finger or drop space rocks on it. You will occasionally have access to this power during Voyages. Keep in mind, being pushed to work overtime generally makes everyone around this shrine a little bit less happy.

Shrine Of Collection

godus shrine of collection

A shrine that costs 5 gems instead of thousands of Belief, the Shrine of Collection automatically collects any Belief within its area of influence, from a maximum of 15 homes. You’ll usually want to plonk this down first next to Builder settlements, since between the three Settlement types, they generate the most Belief. Constructing it does not cost any Happiness, though unlocking it does. It only autocollects when you’re online though, so you can’t just leave for 10 days then come back to a bajillion Belief in your coffers.

Shrine Of Stamina

godus shrine of stamina

Possibly the least useful shrine, unless you plan to make the people under it walk long distances. The Shrine of Stamina raises the stamina level of all within its influence, allowing them to work for longer at the cost of Happiness. If you’ve got the people within not really doing much, like say they’re from a Builder settlement, this is generally not the best thing to build considering its cost and penalties.

Shrine Of Harvest, Shrine Of Ore

godus shrine of harvest

Much like the Shrine of Collection with Belief, the Shrine of Harvest and Shrine of Ore autocollects Wheat and Ore nearby when they’re ready and you happen to be online. Putting these near farms and mines will be useful later on once you’ve already set up a lot of them and can’t be botherd to run around the map collecting manually.

godus shrine of ore

SETTLEMENT TYPES

godus settlements

Settlement construction is an ability you unlock later on, allowing you to squish a town into a single structure, freeing up space while maintaining the population count of an area. This also increases Happiness, unlike clearing space the violent way using Finger of God or Meteor Strike.

There are several types, each of which do a different sort of job. If any existing Settlement is within range of the Settlement creation circle, then smaller structures within will get added to the existing Settlement rather than creating a new one. Keep in mind that they get more expensive the more you make them.

Make note that it is more difficult to construct farms and mines in Weyworld: You can only build them in terrain of certain colors (Farms in lush green land, Mines in bluish-grey terrain), so place your Settlements wisely there.

Agriculture!

godus farm

The first settlement you unlock is the Farming settlement. It crams a town into a large structure which generates Farmers, 1 farmer for every 10 Breeders within the settlement without upgrades or buffs. Farmers can construct Fields which make Grain, needed for constructing buildings or boosting follower speed, with each Field being worked by a farmer counting toward a separate progression bar that also unlocks cards, much like your Population bar does.

Once you make a Farming settlement, this frees up space and you’ll notice the builder structures nearby that weren’t part of the squish will be ready to build. Don’t build with them! Instead wait for the farmers to generate (It looks long, but you can spend a fraction of the time by watching ads then just rushing the farmers out with a few gems) and make Fields instead, if you want actual agriculture to be done. Early on, even after you unlock the other settlements, focus on making Farming settlements first to get the Beautify power, since you may run into Beacons surrounded by deadly swamps and blight.

Basic Second

godus builder

The second settlement you unlock, but oddly enough the most basic of them, is the Builder settlement. This essentially counts as a huge normal building, as it generates Builders and Breeders just like your average house. Except it’s bigger. This time there is no worry about taking other builders nearby to help fill the spaces it freed up, as this settlement’s main purpose is generating Belief via efficient use of housing space.

Heavy Metal

godus mines

Mining Settlements are the last you unlock, very soon after Builder settlements. They act much like Farming settlements, except instead of grain and farms, Miners build Mines and mine Ore., and both add a progression bar for new cards. They are very expensive, starting at 7500 Belief compared to other settlements which start at 3000.

VOYAGE OF DISCOVERY

godus voyage

Voyage of Discovery unlocks once you’ve found and repaired the Docks. It is your primary source of Stickers other than hunting down Chests. It’s a puzzle-like game mode where you must create the fastest path possible for your explorers to reach the Outpost and raise their flag. Here are a few tips to get things done.

godus map preview

Always check the entirety of the map and plan out a route before starting, and plan out the order in which you sculpt the land. Later on, the maps get big enough to necessitate scrolling the screen, so be thorough about this.

Take into account your Belief count at the start too, and how many rocks and trees there are in the area. That way, you know whether it might be worth trying to force your way through a particularly steep hill to make it to the Outpost quickly. Though it generally never is.

Speedrunning Life

godus idiots

Your followers are complete suicidal morons, and they will happily run into a Champion’s club if they think it’ll shave 2 seconds off their time to the Outpost. The only solution to this is to wall them off from Champions and dangerous paths, so they take the safe route to the finish. At least this means they’re less likely to get lost once you DO have a path laid out for them.

Not So Phenomenal Cosmic Powers

godus finger pokes only

Your powers are limited in Voyage of Discovery missions. You will typically be given one power to use tactically (though not necessarily sparingly, missions like these occasionally give you lots of Belief to start with), and if you’ve been used to the 3x or 5x Sculpting Power card, you won’t have it here. This means you have to be a bit more thorough when it comes to making walls to keep your followers away from Champions.

Whistling Little People

godus song of your people

The whistling your followers make isn’t just cosmetic. It’s an indicator that they have found a clear path to the objective, whether it be a Beacon or the Outpost. If they’re blocked, they stop whistling and walk around aimlessly. Them whistling isn’t always a good thing, as their idea of “clear path” doesn’t take Blight and Champions into account. Though in a map with no deadly obstacles, whistling is generally a good sign that you’ve solved the puzzle. Now that you figured out the solution, go back in there and three-star it!

And this is the end of our Godus beginner’s guide. We hope this helps, and if you have any of your own tips to share, leave them in the comment section below!

Godus: Top 10 Cheats, Tips & Strategies to Win

Godus: Top 10 Cheats, Tips & Strategies to Win

Godus , the highly anticipated god game from 22 Cans and Peter Molyneux has finally been launched and it proves that being a God is not that easy. However, after countless hours of playing and trying different strategies, we are here to share with you the Top 10 Godus cheats, tips and strategies that will keep your civilization growing and the Astari will become nothing but a lost memory.

We have already shared some Godus tips here , but now it’s time to go more in depth with some really hot stuff for advanced players. Here are the 10 best Godus tips, cheats and strategies:

1. The time lapse cheat The easiest and fastest way to progress is to simply set your time ahead. Just go to your settings and set the time forward by a couple of hours (or as much as you need). When you get back, you will have new belief to collect, farms and mines ready and you will even find that some chests with stickers of gems have appeared on your land. Rinse and repeat! [UPDATE] According to numerous reports, this no longer works.

2. Build on the same level The secret to easily create big settlements is to have your huts and abodes built on the same level. This means that you will have to work a little bit to remove the high layers (and spend a ton of belief), but in the end, it will be totally worth it. Also, creating huge areas of land of the same level will guarantee you the best possible level of Abode or Hut and therefore the maximum increase in population.

3. Build as many homes as soon as possible The more you advance through the game, the more resources you will need in order to build up your population. At first, for example, you need nothing but space and that is when you should build as many homes as possible in order to increase your population to maximum levels and not have to worry about resources. Try to unlock as many cards as possible – you will work on them later, based on what you want to unlock first.

4. How to keep your citizens happy vs the Astari Happiness in Godus is one of the biggest problems because your people always seem to get down, while the Astari are incredibly happy at all times. If your people are less happier than the Astari during a festival, you will lose some Followers to them (usually from the same settlement, putting a huge dent in your expanding plans).Fortunately, there are a few ways to keep your citizens happy: by using God Powers. The first power that you will have will be the God Seed which allows you to plant trees in order to increase population. Plant trees just before an Astari festival is about to start, and just enough for your Followes to be above the Astari (don’t overspend, because each seed will cost you more and the price will become too high very soon). Later on, use the Rain of Purity and Beautify to get similar results.

You can also interfere with the happiness of the Astari, by raining down on the Meteor Showers and Swamps and Fingers of God or by simply destroying them: remove layers from below them until they fall in the water and drown!

5. The Free Diamonds cheat/glitch I have fully detailed this method of getting a ton of easy diamonds here , but to put it short, you have to do the following: place a couple Swamps in the Astari temple, which will kill them all. You don’t have to worry about happiness anymore, so instead send your Followes into the Temple of Doom as often as possible to get those nice diamonds! ( NOTE: The Temple of Doom is at the moment just “Temple” in the iOS version and it doesn’t work yet. Hopefully this will fixed in an upcoming update. This cheat still works for PC versions. )

6. Check for new chests regularly Chests with new Stickers and even diamonds get respawned regularly on the lands, so every time you log back in to the game after a longer break, you should check out the map and see if new ones appeared. There will be situations in which they will be spawned in areas where you can’t reach them (buried between your houses, for example), but most times you will just get easy to access chests with free treasure for you!

7. Unlock the cards the way you want to Not all the cards are as important as the others. For example, the x3 Stronger Sculpting will do you more harm than good in my opinion, so don’t hurry to unlock it because it will make sculpting a lot more difficult. Instead, focus on unlocking the cards that matter the most: Finger of God, Swamps and so on.There are actually a ton of cards there and very few stickers, so you have to plan ahead nicely.

8. How to always win the Sailing mini games The Sailing mini game offers a great way to keep you entertained and win some stickers at the same time. There are also usually events that reward you if you can complete an archipelago in a given amount of time. Here is how to easily beat all mini games:

– never send more Followers than you need to save. If you lose, you lose them all. And so far (I am at level 10 Azure) there was no island where I had to sacrifice Followers in order to win. – plan ahead all your moves. Look at the island, see what you have to do, see where the obstacles are and plan a way to avoid them. There are some islands where obstacles will be spawned as you play, but generally it’s pretty straightforward – Block paths. This is the easiest way to stop your followers fro choosing the bad direction. Block their path and quickly create an alternative one. Be fast, be smart! – don’t speed up reinforcements. You will lose every now and then, but you should not speed up your reinforcements. Instead, keep the Gems for better stuff, like buying Fountains to boost happiness.

9. Know what type of land gives you the best huts Remember tip #2? This goes well hand in hand with it, but it’s even more advanced: see what type of landscape gives you the best Abode (early on it will probably be the beach), and build on there. Destroy the houses using the Finger of God, get the extra layers and build new houses there. It’s a good idea to do this after you’ve dealt with the Astari, though…

10. Build settlements over settlements A risky move if the Astari are still there because it can set you back quite a bit, but a nice move overall: whenever you are building new settlements, make sure to include and older settlement in the circle. This way, you will optimize space and get more followers AND more space for new houses, mining or farming.

So these would be our top 10 Godus cheats and tips to win the game like a Pro. If you have other suggestions, let us know. If not, don’t forget to share this guide – it’s probably the most complete you’ll ever read!

How the hell do I get the astari away in the begging when it says build sculptures?

Simply sculpt the land under them or just tap and drag over them – they will go away.

This was extremely helpful! I just have one question regarding #1 are y’all using an iPhone and/or iPad to do that trick? Im having trouble getting mine to work

Yes, the cheat has been tested on an iPad, surely works on iPhones too.

Where is the temple of doom mentioned in #5?

The Temple (or Pit of Doom) is the building that you unlock early on in your game.

Why does the time lapse cheat not work on my IPhone 4S?

Brilliant tips thanks. Also have trouble with time lapse on iPad Air. Any ideas what I’m doing wrong?

I’ve tried the time lapse trick on my iPad mini and it didn’t work too. Any ideas?

They might have fixed this, just like the temple of Doom thing… we’ll investigate and see if that happened!

Time lapse does not work for me either. :(

The beacon that is closest to the Astaire land the nod that’s underwater I’ve been pulling my hair out trying to figure out how to build it but I can’t! How do you light this beacon

You cant. Ive reported this and they said it would be fixed in the next update but its not.

You have to sculpt the land away from it it’s underneath

I think my game is glitched. I have over 1000 followers and do not want to start over. My voyage boat says it’s ready to sail but when I go to click the green sail button it’s not active and won’t sail :( I don’t know what to do but I don’t want to lose progress but I’m missing out on stickers!

How do you avoid a champion? I tried to sculpt a path around him but whenever he smashes his club, the people around him die

On the voyage, I can’t beat the 8th part where there are granite blocks. Any advice?

How do I get to the chests that under the bottom parts of underwater?

First you have to receive the “Sculpt Under Ocean” card then you have to unlock it with stickers.

One of the beacon have a mining logo one, so each time I send one of my miner and build to dig or build nth happens my miner go back to work and my builder sit in the beacon circle and ponder about the mining logo what do I do plz help me

Look at the number next to the mining logo at the top of the beacon. You have to have that many ores collected from the various mines before you can start repairing the beacon.

How do you get rid of the swomp ?

Once you get the meteors you can actually go to the astari land and set everything on fire. This will also kill all of the astari and you will get their land. It took me a couple meteors to destroy them all.

Like a true boss. Well done.

So is this glitch still working or what? I had it working once out of the 3 times I’ve downloaded this game.

How could I remove the swamps?

I also want to know how to remove swamps. I dug out the first temple and the swamp is spreading everywhere by there . I haven’t unlocked the beautify sticker yet . My followers are becoming more and more unhappy don’t know what to do.

How do u remove swamp/marsh land I have the galaxy s5

@Luciano regard the 10. Build settlements over settlements

I am not sure on what platform had you get this done, on mobile version, only regular houses able to squash with settlment. When try to squash two settlemtns building together, no matter how close the settlems are from each other , it just won’t work.

how do I find buried temples

The Basics [ ]

To re-start your game go to Steam/SteamApps/common/Godus/windows/prf110000105aadec1

ControlTo travel around the map use the arrow keys or through the a,s,d,w keys. [ ]

  • w,s will zoom in and out.
  • a,d will rotate camera view.
  • You can also zoom in with the mouse wheel.
  • To sculpt the land use the left and right mouse keys.
  • Right click to dig down through layers.

Interface [ ]

The interface on Godus will show you four different aspects of the game.

  • Faith Total.
  • Population Total ( Milestones . Changes as the game progresses......
  • God Powers.

The Beginning [ ]

The game starts with you controlling only two Followers . Here you must clear the rock that they mine to provide them with room to build the first Abode in game, this provides you with the first Technology Card of the game in which your Follower's begin to believe in a higher power. This will then unlock the Scrapbook in which all your collected Cards will be placed. After this give your people a name by going into Settings, Options and then Game Options.

GameStart

This initial part of the game provides you with no faith from Abodes until you gain the Construction card unlocking it with Resource Chests allowing Followers to build more permanent Abodes. The Population Milestones at this early stage provide you with Land Expansion Cards giving you more land for you followers to expand into. Eventually you will reach a Shrine of Power giving you the Totem Power meaning you can summon people to you draining them of their free will.

Slowly your sculpting powers will evolve moving from clicking and dragging layers to double clicking to sculpt the land and along the top of our screen 'Prayers' from you people will appear showing you what they wish from you.

The Mainland, its Temples and Settlements [ ]

Eventually your Followers will reach the mainland, providing more land for you to sculpt and for your Followers to dwell within. Here the game gains its first hazard to your people,  Wolves , from which you must protect your people.

MountoftheGods1

The mainland also provides more Chests for you to uncover, allowing you to unlock more Technology Cards as well as giving you access to the Mount of the Gods , the Temple of Multiplayer and the Temple of Fertility all of which have to be rebuilt by your Followers. The Temple of Fertility will increase birth rates for your people, the other two giving you the ability to fight other players or AI in game to gain new cards to work towards new technologies. The Mount of the Gods also provides more God Cards and Technology Cards if you play through it.

Once the main land is reached you no longer receive expansion cards and have to now instruct your Followers to rebuild Shrines of Expansion dotted around the map increasing the land you own.

Once you have developed far enough you will gain the Settlements card and once unlocked it will allow you to build your own Settlements. These initially cost an increasing amount of Faith and are then replaced by a cost of Gems so mining becomes even more important to provide Settlements. These allow your houses to become two-stories instead of one and roads can be constructed between Abodes. Village life then develops with people wandering around your towns.

Settlement

To rename them click onto 'Town,' rename it and press enter. As you go along you will find numerous Shrines of Power which proved more God Powers for you and your Abodes once new Technologies are acquired will become bigger.

The Discovery of Farming and Storms [ ]

Eventually you will discover Farming ,the card being acquired automatically by reaching the Agricultural Period . This will cause several changes to the game play.

Farms

First of all the Population Milestones will be replaced with Farming Ones, these increasing as your Farmers bring wheat from fields to the village squares your Settlements. Farmers can be spawned from Settlements if they are empty plots within its range for them to go and build fields in. After initially building them Farmers will automatically spawn to fill the fields to maximum capacity.

Weather also begins in the world once Farming begins, this damages Abodes that are not within Settlements and you as a God have to instruct your people to leave their homes and repair them. As yet they do not repair their homes automatically.

As yet there are no more developments in Godus that allow you to advance any further. Updates to come soon.

Godus – Top 25 Tips, Tricks, Hints and Cheats

By Author Evan Heisenberg

Godus has come across a bit of criticism since it came out for its free-to-play mechanics, but so far it’s been the most popular game on every platform it’s been released. Godus is a god game simulator by the legendary Peter Molyneux and his new studio, 22cans.

This being the case, there is far more depth to this game than to your typical mobile world-building simulator. This is the same guy who did Populous, after all. Read on for the top 25 tips and cheats for Godus!

25) Flatten out your land to maximize the amount of plots that you can build. You need flat land in order for your followers to build, so for the most successful layout, you want something that looks more like Kansas than California. Flatten out everything that you can, leaving a mountain or two behind so that you can build higher-level abodes later on as you unlock the ability to do so.

24) Maximize belief by clearing out trees and rocks. To do this, tap your finger down and hold on a tree or a rock and watch it disappear. Then drag it around and clear out more trees or rocks (whichever one you tap first). As you slide your finger around, destroying trees and rocks, you’ll gain extra belief, especially for clearing out rocks.

23) Try to refrain from building farms and mines for as long as you possibly can. Once you build your first farm, you’ll end up having to pay one wheat for every abode that you build. The same is true for mines – once you build your first one, you will have to pay for ore. You can still build settlements without actually sending your farmers and miners out to build farms, so hold off on the farming and mining for as long as you possibly can for unlimited free settlements.

22) Build your settlements as high as you possibly can. Use the settlement power over and over again on the same settlement, plus on whatever abodes you build around it. Merge the new abodes into the settlement. Your settlement will build vertically and will barely take up more space on the map, if at all, allowing you a seemingly endless amount of room to grow overall.

21) Complete settlements right away by using the time lapse trick. This cheat only works on the iOS and Android versions of the game, but it’s still an excellent trick. Set the time ahead on your phone or tablet by how long it takes to build the settlement that you have to wait the longest for. Then go back to the game and it will be completed. Set the time back to normal after you do that and it will still be completed.

20) Use the time lapse trick to collect your belief right away as well. The same trick works for your belief, or for anything that takes time to complete, such as collecting more wheat or more ore. Set the time ahead and then go back to Godus and collect. Repeat over and over again to absolutely load up on the belief. Repeat as often as you want to, then whenever you want, set the time back to normal and carry on doing what you were doing.

19) Look for the sparkles on the map, then start digging to find chests. The sparkles, which kind of look like coins that flutter around like butterflies, hide chests. Start removing layers until you get the chest on flat ground, and then open the chest. Search around the map screen at any point, because new chests appear all the time. Use the time lapse trick to get chests to appear again right away after you collect them all, if you so choose.

18) Increase your happiness in order to keep your followers around. This is important because if your happiness bar gets too low, then your followers will begin leaving you and joining up with the Astari tribe, especially when they throw a festival. If your happiness bar is raised enough, though, the Astari themselves will begin leaving their colony and joining up with you to become one of your followers instead.

17) How to increase your happiness Increase your happiness by loading up on the trees using the God seed power. Use the rain of purity and water various spots on your map in order to increase it as well. It’s easy to fill the happiness bar all the way to the top and when you do, your followers will work harder, stay with you and new followers will show up out of nowhere.

HOT: Solitaire Cash: All Promo Codes and Guide to Free Bonus Cash

16) Stock up on the stickers in order to unlock the cards. The cards will be earned whenever your population reaches a certain quota, denoted by the filling of the population bar. Stickers are required in order to unlock most of them. You can find stickers by looking for the chests as described in tip number 19, or you can go on the voyages to earn large amounts of stickers in a short amount of time.

15) Stop the Astari from coming around and bugging you They’ll often show up, and if you end up in a skirmish, then you’ll need some weaponry in order to get rid of them. Use our god powers. Build swamps to drown them and to block them into their own little area. Use the Finger of God to squish them and burn their settlements. Use the meteorite to wreak havoc on their entire territory once you get to it.

14) Want to get rid of the old abodes that you’ve upgraded past, so that they are now irrelevant? The main way to do that is to, of course, absorb it into a settlement so that it’s out of the way yet it still gives you population. Otherwise, though, send an act of God – preferably the Finger of God – in order to destroy the old settlement that you want to destroy. Then have a builder build on it again so that your resident total can grow.

13) Use leashing to send builders, farmers and miners to areas that they can’t see. The way that you do this is to tap and hold on a builder, a farmer, or a minor. Then, when the blue circle pops up, drag them where you want to take them. You can also lasso multiple builders, farmers or miners in order to complete the job even faster.

12) Help your followers get where they’re going in the voyages with some clever editing. Your followers get lost easily, so sometimes it’s not enough just to create a path for them. When they start getting lost, build more layers of land to block them from accessing alternate paths, so that they don’t get lost and they get to the temples more quickly than before.

11) Voyages reset every day, so go on the old voyages all over again daily. The more voyages that you go on, the more stickers you’ll earn, and the lands will be the same all over again, so you’ll be able to go in knowing which strategies to use in order to finish them quickly.

10) Want to reset the voyages right away? Set the time ahead on your phone or tablet by one day exactly. Just like with other uses of this trick, it won’t work if you are playing Godus on OSX, Windows or Linux, but it will work if you are playing on iOS or Android. Just set it ahead by one day and then go to the voyage screen and your voyages will be completely reset. Start ’em all over again!

9) Start doing deep-sea editing as soon as possible. Eventually you’ll unlock the card that allows you to do deep sea grading, which will allow you to turn the entire ocean south of where you started the game into land. This has potential to land you thousands of new residents as well as farms and other goods.

8) After you do god seeding, delete the trees to manipulate the price back down. The price increases by 10 belief for every tree that you plant, but for every tree that you delete, the price goes back down by the same amount. Happiness does not go down, however. Plant and delete trees over and over to max out happiness on the cheap any time that you want. Keep the trees that are next to your abodes, though, as they speed up the production of belief.

7) Once you are happy with your settlement size, surround it with trees. Each tree that you put next to your settlement will cause its belief output speed to skyrocket, allowing you to collect from it WAY earlier. If you want to expand it yet again, simply delete the trees and start building more abodes next to it, then bring the trees back after you merge it together again.

6) Put as many builders as possible on a beacon or a big abode. Putting more builders on something will cause the construction speed to skyrocket. Load up your projects with builders to vastly decrease the time needed to complete them. If your builders are far away, use the leash to make this happen; if not, simply tap any abode that has a solid builder icon above it.

5) Don’t forget to boost your builders, farmers and miners. If your workers run out of stamina, then they will stop working, and even if they don’t entirely run out of stamina, the lowering of the bar will still cause them to work slower. If you notice someone lagging behind, tap them and boost them back to 100 percent and their work will instantly speed up greatly. This has the side effect of keeping them happy, as well.

4) Look around for wooden boxes in order to earn free gems. Wooden boxes are hidden better than the gold boxes (the ones that contain stickers) because they don’t typically have the confetti flying over them. Search for them by editing random landscapes; when you find one, tap it and you will earn free gems from it.

3) More ways to get free gems Right now, the only other way to get free gems is to unlock the card that gives your miners the ability to mine for gems. Then maximize your mines. Other than that, though, the only recourse is to buy gems, although keep on the lookout for limited edition events, which can have free gems as one of the rewards.

2) Look around on the map to see where you should go next. Look at the areas that are not under your control yet to find out where you should use the beacons to expand to next. You can expand towards mountains, beaches, or even towards the Astari village, and if you get that under your control, you can use your god powers to really mess it up.

1) Keep an eye out for new expansions to be added to the game. Check the last card in the card list for a hint about what it is. Right now, the last card on the list hints that the Iron Age will be added to the game eventually. Depending on when you are reading this article, though, it could be something quite different later on. Eventually, expect future ages such as the Industrial Age, the modern age, and other interesting additions to the lineup.
