What an awesome experience

It was my first time and we enjoyed ourselves, me & my partner. From the beginning when we got there, we were warmly welcomed from booking up until we boarded the boat. The crew on the ship were friendly.

WHALE WATCHING

No doubt, the best way to view whales and dolphins up close is from a boat. However, by law, you are not allowed to approach 300m from a whale, unless you are aboard a boat permitted by the Department of Marine and Coastal Management. Permit holders are all members of the South African Boat- Based Whale Watching Association (SABBWWA) and as such are required to adhere to a strict code of conduct and have undergone training. Isle of Capri Cruises are doing boat- based whale watching with a permit in Durban. Humpback whales migrate from Antarctica between May and November, traveling up to 5,000 km along the east coast of South Africa to breed and give birth in the warmer waters of Mozambique and Madagascar. Their migration is one of the longest of any mammal on earth.

Our beautiful Greek traditional classy 20 meter boat, was built in 1947 by ‘George Psarros’ and is a sample of art and impeccable shipbuilding that is difficult to find in modern times. Even today, the name ‘George Psarros’ remains closely linked with graceful wooden vessels, tales from the sea, and an entire era. He was widely regarded as one of the most innovative shipbuilders, with the ability to craft remarkable hulls tailored to each customer’s desires.

Among the most remarkable vessels he constructed were the 35-meter “Eagle” for Mr. Lykiardopoulos, the “Pandora” for Mr. Lemos, and the “Saita,” purschaded by Mrs. Maya Kalliga and eventually acquired by the Rothschild family, which was later passed on to the renowned fashion designer Givenchy. In 2010 ‘Saint Nicolas’ was officially declared as a cultural heritage by the Ministry of Culture. It represents a history of unparalleled shipbuilding grace and artistic craftsmanship.

This exceptional vessel, one of only four such private collections worldwide, stands as a testament to artistry and flawless shipbuilding expertise.

We are privileged to showcase and oversee this exceptional Greek ship, a vessel with numerous maritime tales to share, serving as a conduit for maritime culture.
