Forza Horizon 5 Horizon Tour: What Is The Horizon Tour?

The Forza Horizon 5 Horizon Tour in action, as two cars splash through water.

The Forza Horizon 5 Horizon Tour is one of the many activities that you can race through as part of the seasonal event. Forza Horizon 5 is currently in its winter season, offering up the ID Zerouno '18 and Subaru 22B vehicles, which you can only unlock by earning points. The Horizon Tour is one of those many ways to earn points.

The Forza Horizon 5 Horizon Tour itself is a three-race co-op event where players will face off in two teams of six, split between the red and blue team. The goal is to have the majority of your team place in the top six to earn points, and as such, you don't want to be running your team off the road just for you to get first place. The race takes place on dirt tracks and will use C-Class vehicles. Once any given race is over you will then drive collectively to the next race, and so on.

Forza Horizon 5 Horizon Tour: How To Access The Horizon Tour

The Forza Horizon 5 Horizon Tour in the menus.

The Forza Horizon 5 Horizon Tour can easily be found in the Festival playlist. Just hit the pause button and find the playlist on the left of the world map. Once in there, you will be treated to the current reward cars, along with weekly and daily challenges. Scroll through to the right until you come across the various activities. On the bottom right, you should see the Horizon Tour Co-Op Championship. By clicking on it, you will be put into a waiting lobby, before eventually joining the Forza Horizon 5 Horizon Tour. Since this is a part of the winter season, you will only have until December 4 to take part in it.

Forza Horizon 5 Horizon Tour: Rewards

The Forza Horizon 5 Horizon Tour podium.

Of course, the ultimate reward for the Forza Horizon 5 Horizon Tour is to gain enough points to earn the latest legendary cars. For that, the Horizon Tour will grant you three Forza Points. For context, you will need 22 and 42 points to earn either of the reward cars. Additionally, from taking part in the event you will earn your usual rung of XP and skill points, which obviously increase depending on your position in the race. If this is your first Horizon Tour race, you will also earn the Tourist Attraction achievement.

That's everything you need to know about the Forza Horizon 5 Horizon Tour. Looking for an activity that will bag you a little bit more money? Check out our Forza Horizon 5 Goliath glitch .

A list of all the Forza Horizon 5 Tour races/schedule rotation

forza horizon 5 tour race

Forza Horizon 5 Tour is a co-op multiplayer mode where you and a team of five other players compete against AI drivatars in three consecutive Apex, Wilds or Baja races across the map. Whether you came across the Forza Horizon 5 Tour races from the Festival Playlist or it’s already one of your favorite FH5 features due to its cooperative nature and more lowkey, laidback nature compared to competitive online races, what might not be apparent from the get-go is a definitive list of all the Forza Horizon 5 Tour races nor their rotation schedule.

Which is why we’ve put together this list of all the Forza Horizon 5 Tour races, the schedule they follow by the hour and which cars fall under each race category so you won’t be left in the dust by your convoy or more importantly, the drivatar opposition.

Ninja Gaiden was my rite of passage at an early age. After finally beating that game (and narrowly dodging carpal tunnel) I decided to write about my gaming exploits. These days I enjoy roguelikes and anything Pokemon but I'll always dust off Super Mario RPG, Donkey Kong Country and StarFox 64 from time to time to bask in their glory.

Forza Horizon 5 review: the ultimate big-tent driving game cruises to Mexico

Road to everywhere.

One key to the success of the Forza Horizon open-world driving games has been how easy developer Playground Games made that success look. From day one, these games have had a rock-solid certainty of what they were about. They have all been slick and accessible to play, and have all offered an insouciant, easygoing, thumbs-up kind of hedonism: pretty cars, lovely places, pumping tunes, good times guaranteed.

Playground has maintained the games' quality and iterated so carefully that it's hard to pick a favourite or a standout. That said, 2018's Forza Horizon 4 was undoubtedly the series' boldest step, shifting the emphasis toward an online world and regular in-game updates. At the time, I was a little hard on what I felt was a carelessly disorganised campaign and unfocused persistent multiplayer, while I recognised - but still underestimated - how transformative the weekly changes of season and Festival Playlist updates would be for the game's longevity. Between the Playlist, the game's natural affinity with its British setting, and the later addition of a buzzy battle-royale-style Eliminator mode, Forza Horizon 4 cemented the series' popularity in new ways.

Forza Horizon 5 is not as much of a trailblazer as its predecessor, notwithstanding the globetrotting glamour it drums up from its Mexican setting. This game leans heavily on the (many) things Forza Horizon already does well, makes a few judicious tweaks, and focuses most of its energy on a structural revamp of single-player which gives the campaign a colourful, storytelling sweep. Although the game only launches today for VIP players, it is such a known quantity - and Playground is such a safe pair of hands - that I feel comfortable reviewing it straight away.

Cover image for YouTube video

Case in point: that all-important Festival Playlist. Although the game's content updates don't officially kick off for another week, a preview version of the Playlist is available to try, and it still provides the most challenging, hooky and carefully curated way to tour the riches of the game's map and garage. This is where you'll find the fantastic co-op Trial (the racing game equivalent of a raid dungeon), the themed seasonal championships, and the Forzathon weekly challenge, where a different car is the star each week. The Playlist has been expanded with more casual challenges and online components - and I was delighted to note that seasonal PR stunts now come with car restrictions, which will make executing these jumps, drifts and speed trials that bit more interesting each week.

Competitive multiplayer continues its evolution from the map-spanning chaos of the earlier games to something more purposeful. Now called Horizon Open (Playground has a mania for renaming Horizon's features), the multiplayer suite is divided into Racing, Drifting, Playground Games and the Eliminator; I've only tried Racing so far, but the other formats are unlikely to surprise or disappoint. Racing is a blast, offering focused and thrilling five-race series; controversially, however, ranked play has been ditched. Creative director Mike Brown told me that he wanted the competitive racing experience to be "more welcoming" and less frustrating than Forza Horizon 4's intense ranked play, which won't go down well with all corners of the community, but which is undoubtedly in the inclusive, fun-first spirit of Forza Horizon.

forza horizon 5 tour race

Co-op remains a unique focus for this racing series, with much of the campaign playable with friends. Forza Horizon 4's Forzathon Live has been rebranded as Forza Arcade, although I can't say it has been revolutionised - it's still the main reason for players to gather in free roam and still the same scrappy grind of rotating co-op skill challenges, but it is better paced and balanced, with some nice new event ideas. An excellent new addition is Horizon Tour, a co-op racing playlist that is basically the fearsome Trial only more chill, with lower AI difficulty and nice cross-country drives between races. Untethered from the weekly schedule, I can see this becoming one of my favourite ways to enjoy the game.

Forza Horizon has accrued an astonishing range of play styles in its nine-year lifespan. There's so much stuff to do that it can be disorienting to navigate, but Playground has chosen to lean into this multiplicity and enable them all as valid ways to play the game. You can explore the map, collecting barn finds and finding original murals and famous landmarks. You can take photos of every car in the game for Horizon Promo, or create challenges and events in the powerful Super7 and EventLab editing tools, or labour over car tunes and paint jobs, or run Rivals time trials. You can collect outfits and emotes for your avatar, phrases for the Forza Link player communication system, horns for your car. And, of course, you can collect cars.

forza horizon 5 tour race

At least until Gran Turismo 7 arrives, Forza Horizon is the reigning champ of car collectathons, and like 4, this latest version feeds you a steady stream of new motors from events and slot-machine spins as well as from DLC, dealerships and the useful auction house. A new sticker-book style Car Collection view is a welcome way to visualise your progress (it retains cars you sell or give away). Although there are over 500 vehicles here, the curation shows both impeccable taste and catholic breadth, with a great eye for exotics and classics as well as more mundane strands of car-culture cool. I do wonder if the car list is starting to calcify a bit; beyond some headline new additions, there isn't a great sense of evolution or surprise to it, and (with the exception of the astonishingly fast Porsche Taycan) it lags on the EV revolution, with Teslas and other electric icons notable by their absence. These are some of the most desirable cars around; the automotive industry is entering what might be the most dramatic period of change in its history, and it would be a shame for games like Forza to be left behind.

However, Forza Horizon might be the only racing series in which the cars have to share top billing. The game's other star is its map. This is an open-world game and a hangout game as much as it is a racing game, and so location is everything.

Playground surprised many with the choice of Mexico over more obvious candidates like Japan; the same thing happened with Australia five years ago, and the choice proves similarly inspired. The map is an absolute wonder, backed by a game engine which can deliver staggering views across the whole thing from the summit of the volcano that towers over it. The environments are rich and saturated with colour and atmosphere, from humid swamps to arid dunes, from deep, verdant canyons to pastel-striped barrios . The Playground team is expert at seeding all this real estate with spectacle that judiciously balances fantasy and reality, and at sculpting road layouts that usually favour the fast and sweeping over the tight and technical. It's another masterpiece. The only complaint I have is that urban driving is underrepresented - the city of Guanajuato is incredibly picturesque, but too small and densely packed to present the tasty racing opportunities that Edinburgh did three years ago.

forza horizon 5 tour race

Along with the stunning landscape comes a full-throated embrace of Mexican culture that is as unfailingly upbeat (and about as sophisticated) as a tourist board ad . There's a lot of safe, broad, positive stereotyping here - quarrelsome but loving families, piñatas, lucha libre - which comes with the seal of approval of the Mexican Ministry of Culture as well as Playground's Mexican collaborators. (One bit of dialogue actually has a British festival organiser say, "I wasn't sure about doing piñatas in Mexico, until Ramiro [a Mexican guide] asked me where all the piñatas were," which is defensive but fair - some clichés are clichés for a reason.) It would be wrong to expect a deeper insight into Mexico from a racing game than from a package holiday, and Forza Horizon 5's surface-level celebration of the country is nothing if not earnest. Playground even has the self-awareness to include a storyline about annoying, rich, English tourist racers spoiling the fun for everyone else.

Yes, this is the latest racing game to strain to deliver story, and while I don't think narrative is ever going to be a natural fit for the genre, Forza Horizon 5's efforts have a clumsy charm - partly because they keep the stakes determinedly low and inconsequential. The Horizon Stories from Forza Horizon 4 are slightly more fleshed out here, thanks to the decision to give the player character a voice, and expand in theme to include a little light photography and history as well as a hymn to the Vocho, the Mexican VW Beetle. They're gauche but fun. There are also five Expeditions, which take the place of some of the Showcase stunt races from previous games. In these, you journey to open up new festival outposts with cinematic flourish, pausing on the way for a spot of contained exploration that's almost reminiscent of an Uncharted game.

forza horizon 5 tour race

Expeditions are part of a structural overhaul of progression that breathes new life into the campaign, even as it resists the temptation to organise it too much. All activities in the game are rewarded with Accolades - a kind of granular, bespoke achievement system - and it's through earning Accolade Points that you unlock new Adventures, which might be Expeditions, signature Stories, Showcases or epic races. This might sound a bit overworked - and it's true that the Horizon series will one day have to cull some of its redundant progression systems. (Skill Points only seem to unlock the ability to earn more Skill Points, and I'm not even sure what XP is for any more.) I was also disappointed that new events are once again dumped en masse onto the map with little attempt to guide you through them or through the car catalogue, which can feel overwhelming. But the Accolades are smartly designed and paced to reward many different play styles with steady progress - you really can unlock new Adventures just by playing online, grinding Drift Zones or taking photos - while the Adventures themselves give the game a spine and a notional end point that Forza Horizon 4 sorely lacked. Playground has pulled off an enviable tightrope-walk between structure and player freedom here.

In five games and nine years, Forza Horizon has undergone rapid expansion and complication but little fundamental change, for the best possible reason: because Playground Games knocked the concept out of the park on its first go. The studio's job is now to keep things on track while enforcing some semblance of order on this sprawling celebration of freedom. It's not always glamorous work, despite the shiny cars and picture-postcard destinations, and it shouldn't surprise or even disappoint you that Forza Horizon 5 can't offer the perfection of 3 or the bold new emphasis of 4. It is familiar in the best sense of the word: comforting, personable, tailored to you, welcoming to all. It's a dependable joy.

Forza Horizon 5 is the best road trip ever

And the best forza horizon yet.

By Sam Byford

Forza Horizon 5

If you’re an arcade racing game purist, Burnout Paradise has a lot to answer for. By taking the classic series open-world, Criterion essentially obsoleted the concept of traditional racers — here are your cars, here are your tracks, learn to drive the former to perfect the latter — at least in the eyes of major publishers. Ever since, virtually all big-budget arcade racing games have been made in the shadow of Paradise , with most tracks consisting of lines drawn across vast, explorable maps.

As someone who is personally not very happy about this turn of events, I have to admit that Microsoft’s Forza Horizon series has been a pretty spectacular product of it all. With each entry in the series, developer Playground Games has delivered relentlessly entertaining open-world racing in vividly rendered settings. Forza Horizon 5 , the latest release, relocates to Mexico and turns out to be the best Forza Horizon yet — as well as one of the best games of the year.

Despite the name and the hundreds of accurately modeled real-world cars, Forza Horizon has little in common with Turn 10 Studios’ Forza Motorsport series, which is more of a serious racing simulator. While Horizon isn’t exactly a Ridge Racer -style arcade game, it’s certainly on the more accessible side of things. The physics feel somewhat grounded in reality, and you’ll notice big differences in how various cars handle, but the driving model is very forgiving, and it’s easy for anyone to pick up and play.

The previous game in the series, Forza Horizon 4 , was personally appealing to me because of its UK setting, which I found to be a convincing rendering of where I grew up. But I found the game hard to get into because of the way it handled its open-world design, throwing an overwhelming array of cars and quests at you. Every time I opened the game after a week or two away, I’d have no idea what to do — the overwrought UI gave me option paralysis. It felt more like Assassin’s Creed on wheels than an arcade racer.

Forza Horizon 5 doesn’t change the basic structure, and there’s still a huge amount of stuff dotting the Mexican map. But it does do a better job of easing you into its mountain of content. You’re able to choose which specific types of events to unlock as you progress, so, for example, I preferred to focus on closed-track road races early on before delving into cross-country rallies. I feel like if I stopped playing the game and came back to it weeks later, I’d have a much better sense of what I’d been doing and where would be best for me to spend the next couple of hours. In turn, that makes me feel better about simply driving around the landscape in search of whatever esoteric quest I might come across. Unlike with 4 , I’ve never felt like I’m wasting my time in Forza Horizon 5 , as I always have more of a sense of what I could be working toward.

Forza Horizon 5 does do a better job of easing you into its mountain of content

Forza Horizon ’s premise — a “festival” that descends on a loosely recreated real-world locale and takes it over with various racing events of dubious legality — remains as absurd as ever, with entirely superfluous “story” sequences peppered throughout. I have personally never been to Mexico, but I have a feeling most of the locals wouldn’t take too kindly to visitors causing wanton destruction while bombing around the streets in a Dodge Viper listening to Dua Lipa.

On the other hand, Horizon 5 ’s depiction of Mexico is only likely to drive interest in international tourism once such things are broadly possible again. This is a beautiful game that shows off the country’s diverse landscape in spectacular fashion, from lush forests to active volcanoes. Its predecessor made the most of the UK’s landscape, but it’s hard to escape the feeling that Mexico is a more appealing setting for a game like this.

I don’t think I can overstate the extent to which Forza Horizon 5 looks entirely out of control on the Xbox Series X. This is easily one of the most technically impressive games I have ever seen, with hugely improved lighting and stunning detail in the landscapes. You can run it at 60 frames per second on Xbox Series consoles, or there’s a 30fps mode that further boosts the graphical features; I personally find it hard to play racing games at 30fps, but each mode delivers a convincing presentation.

Forza Horizon 5 is also an impressive test case for Microsoft’s cross-generational hardware strategy. I played the game for several hours on my Xbox One X, and it doesn’t feel compromised compared to anything else on the console. It’s still a better-looking game than 3 and 4 , and it looks more or less the same as the Series X version’s 60fps mode — just running at half the frame rate. The One X is generally a machine designed for 4K/30fps games, and that’s what you get here with Forza Horizon 5 . Would the Series X game have looked even better if it didn’t have to run on Xbox One consoles? Maybe, but it’s hard to complain about the performance on either platform.

forza horizon 5 tour race

That said, Forza Horizon 5 has come in a little hot. During the review period and early access launch, I’ve noticed quite a few issues on various hardware, from graphical glitches to AI opponents that disappear completely. Server access has been spotty, and the PC version was almost unplayable for me due to constant controller disconnection errors. These will hopefully get ironed out, but I wouldn’t be happy about the server problems in particular if I’d paid $100 for the premium version of the game that includes early access.

  • Forza Horizon 5 is the perfect portable Xbox game

I wouldn’t normally spend as much time on the technical elements of a game when reviewing it, but I think it’s more relevant with Forza Horizon 5 than most others. Last night, I fired up Forza Horizon 3 for a couple of hours, which I previously thought of as my favorite game in the series. Two things immediately struck me: it doesn’t look anywhere near as good as I remembered it, and it’s also almost exactly the same game as Forza Horizon 5 , right down to the near-identical UI.

Beyond its slight but welcome tweaks to the unlocking system, Forza Horizon 5 makes hardly any progress on its predecessors in terms of game design. It really is as if the previous couple of games just got airlifted to Mexico and received an extreme technical glow-up. And honestly, I’m fine with that. The setting is everything in Forza Horizon — it’s what dictates and defines the endless firehose of races and championships and quests, not to mention the future expansions that have already been confirmed.

Forza Horizon 5 is just another Forza Horizon , yes, but it’s a beautiful one with an incredible setting, and that’s enough to make it the best in the series. If you have any interest whatsoever in driving fast cars fast, I highly recommend it.

Forza Horizon 5 is available tomorrow on Xbox consoles, PC, and Xbox Game Pass for both platforms.

IGN's Forza Horizon 5 complete strategy guide and walkthrough helps you through every step of Forza Horizon 5 as you sprint around Mexico from your first race to your last, including every collectible location such as Barn Finds and Bonus Boards. Walkthrough Sections

Forza Horizon 5's approach to open-world racing lets you tackle the game however you want. No matter what type of racing you're into, you'll be able to progress through Forza's story modes and try out all of the over-the-top Showcase events the game has to offer. Most objectives in Forza Horizon 5 will lead you directly to a location of a race, but you may need more help finding the Barn Find Locations , so we've marked the exact spots on our Forza Horizon 5 map .

Bronco 2.jpg

Horizon 5 takes a slightly different approach to filling out your map with races to complete. You'll start with a few easy races in the middle of the map, but will slowly start to unlock Accolade points. You can use these to open up new races on the map by completing Expeditions. As you continue racing across Mexico, you'll win credit rewards and wheelspins that can give you new cosmetics, cars, and more.

There are five main types of racing in Forza Horizon 5:

  • Road Racing
  • Dirt Racing
  • Cross Country
  • Street Racing

Each of these hits the map after you complete their respective Expedition. In addition to these, there are several Multiplayer events you can hop into, including the Eliminator and Horizon Arcade events. Plus, Horizon 5 continues Playground Games' seasonal format with new Seasonal Championships for you to dive into.

Barn Finds also make a return, but this time you can't just run out and find them all. Instead, you need to unlock a Barn Find rumor by progressing through the main story before they become active. You'll get most of them as you progress, but a few require you to do specific actions to unlock them.

New to Forza Horizion 5 are Stories. These self-contained collections of missions will introduce you to some of the characters that call Mexico home. Whether it's racing against Luchadores or searching for forgotten statues, these are a fun diversion that helps you build your Accolade meter.

Mexico Mainstage

This is where you'll start the Horizon Festival in Mexico. The Mainstage will introduce you to every type of race and PR Stunt before giving you the opportunity to decide which direction you want to focus on first.

Along the way, you'll unlock a Showcase event where you race a plane, begin the Vocho Story, and take on The Goliath. The latter is a massive race across Mexico that will test your early skills.

At this point, you can kind of drive whatever you want since you're testing out several different types of events. Personally, we used the 2020 Porsche Taycan Turbo S as it came with the Welcome Pack. However, if you don't have access to that car, you might target a cheaper S1 or S2 car to get you started. Look for one with good Acceleration and Handling.

Horizon Apex - Road Racing

Dust Storm.jpg

The Apex Outpost will unlock several road races across the map. For those, you'll be best off sticking with an S1 or S2 car. Again, the Taycan Turbo S from the Welcome Pack is a great option. However, if you can get your hands on the 2011 Lamborghini Sesto Elemento Forza Edition, you'll be cruising. Of course, that car runs 2,750,000 Credits, making it tough to get your hands off if you don't get a lucky Wheelspin as we did.

Either way, the big features of this Outpost are the Lucha de Carreteras Story and The Colossus event. The former will test your racing and drifting skills in a series of events as you learn the ways of the Luchadores. The latter is one of the longest races in Forza Horizon history. Bring some fluids.

Horizon Wilds - Dirt Racing

When you take things to the jungle, you'll open up dirt races around the map. Finishing this expedition also unlocks the El Camino Story, which sees you following an old explorer to take pictures of ancient ruins. You'll also get access to a Showcase race against a team of jet skis and unlock The Gauntlet, which pits you in yet another lengthy race. This time, you'll have to take your talents off-road.

If you can, try to find a car with a good Offroad rating for these races. One obvious choice is the 1993 Toyota T100 Baja Truck that shows up in a Barn Find. However, those unlock as you progress, so you might not have access to it when you start these. The 1994 Hoonigan Ford Escort RS Cosworth WRC served us well even if it doesn't have the best Offroad rating.

Horizon Baja - Cross Country Racing

Bronco.jpg

Cross Country races can kind of be viewed as the middle ground between Offroad and Street. That means you want something that can do both. We liked using the 2011 BMW X5 M Forza Edition. It has top-of-line Handling, Acceleration, and Launch, with good Speed and Braking to boot. It will run you 500,000 Credits, but it's well worth the sticker price.

Working your way through the Baja Outpost missions will let you race a Monster Truck in a Showcase race and become a stunt driver during the V10 Story. Finally, you'll unlock another monster race in the form of The Titan. It's not quite as long as what's come before, but definitely come prepared to spend more time than a standard race.

Horizon Rush - PR Stunts

Unlike the other Expeditions, this one unlocks all kinds of new things around the map. You'll find new Speed Traps, Danger Signs, Speed Zones, Trailblazer Gates, and Drift Zones scattered around Mexico. Plus, if you want to smash all of the Bonus Boards, you'll need the ramps these Danger Signs unlock.

You'll also get access to a Showcase race against a Train and what the game calls an "epic mega-trailblazer" that will test your offroad skills.

Horizon Street Scene - Street Racing

Image2.jpg

When you take things to the street racing scene, it's all about Speed, Handling, and Acceleration. Again, we love using something like the 2011 BMW X5 M Forza Edition, though you can obviously shop for something cheaper if you don't want to spend that much money.

Alongside all of the new Street Scene races, you'll unlock the Born Fast Story that lets you take on a racing society. Plus, you can enter The Marathon, which is billed as "the definitive" race on the scene.

Playground Games revealed Forza Horizon 5 ’s opening sequence of cinematics and gameplay Tuesday afternoon at Xbox’s Gamescom 2021 showcase, highlighting the varied terrain, weather, and biomes players will encounter on the racing game’s wide-open map of Mexico when it launches in November.

“I think our campaign learns a lot from Horizon 4 ’s campaign,” Mike Brown, Forza Horizon 5 ’s creative director, told media in a briefing event last week. The sequence shown at Gamescom bridges the ending of Forza Horizon 4 with the beginning of the latest racing festival. “There are all of these things that you can work towards, but in a way that feels more structured and more directed than it did in Horizon 4 , but while maintaining freedom to progress through the game in a ton of different ways.”

In the presentation, the customary drive-in to the Horizon Festival that has begun each game in the series, a cargo jet drops four cars into a sampling of Forza Horizon 5 ’s 11 different biomes . The sequence starts with a 2021 Ford Bronco Badlands ascending a stratovolcano — Brown said it’s “just about the highest point we’ve ever had in a Horizon game” — and culminates in the $2.7 million Mercedes-AMG One hypercar racing the plane to the festival finish line.

In between, Chevrolet’s 490-horsepower 2020 Corvette Stingray takes the baton from the Bronco at the bottom of the volcano and proceeds to plow some Mexican farmland. That’s followed by Porsche’s rallying show pony, the 911 Desert Flyer, plunging into the dense Yucatan jungle and giving the Mayan ruins of Ek’ Balam a drive-by. It’s one of several indigenous temple sites that Playground Games have recreated for players to explore, Brown said.

a sports utility vehicle and a pick-up truck race through a very shallow creek

“Having that many biomes creates challenges for us, for when those biomes meet each other,” Brown said. “And one biome has to blend into the environment in a way that doesn’t feel like you’ve crossed an invisible line, and suddenly you’re in a completely different place. Instead, the barriers are blurred, so that it feels natural.” Vegetation and ground covering helped Playground Games achieve this blending, Brown said, particularly in transiting from locations like Mexico’s rocky Pacific coast to a “living desert” still abundant with cacti and other adapted plant life.

Seasons, and seasonal weather, will also return to Forza Horizon 5 , following the feature’s debut in 2018’s Forza Horizon 4 . “Seasons will work a little bit differently in Mexico to how they worked in Britain,” Brown said. They will still change weekly, and players can see the effect in things like riverbeds drying out (providing new courses or shortcuts) and then filling up. Mexico will still have snow, Brown said, but it’ll be limited to the map’s highest altitudes, like the aforementioned volcano. Spontaneous weather events will include dust storms, also seen in Tuesday’s video, which left the Stingray covered by a fine layer of red grime.

There’s plenty to do, not just see, in Forza Horizon 5 , Brown promised. The Eliminator, the 72-car battle royale race from Forza Horizon 4 , will return with some adjustments. “I think the main difference is in the map,” Brown said. “We released Eliminator around about a year after Forza Horizon 4 came out. This time, Eliminator already exists as we’re putting the world together. So the world is now, I think, much better suited to Eliminator.”

There is also the Events Lab, shown during E3 2021 , which allows players to create their own courses and races. While the stadium location seen during the E3 demo is “a great place to build, because it gives you something of a blank canvas,” Brown said, players will be able to use Event Labs’ building tools wherever they want, for the most part. Some areas of the world will be inaccessible to keep player-created events from running over pedestrians, for example.

The building will be supported by “a really in-depth rule editor,” Brown said. “I would stop short of calling it a scripting language, but it’s based on some of the design tools that we use to make the different features of the game.” The if/then nature of the rule editor allows, for example, things as granular as playing certain sound effects or adding score multipliers to overtakes or jumps within a race.

Brown said that the fact Horizon 5 got a three-year development cycle, instead of two, meant Playground Games could make a bigger investment in the game’s physics and handling models. “We’ve completely rebuilt the way the suspension works,” he said. “You might think, as I say this, an improved simulation would make it more challenging, but it’s actually the opposite. The springs of the car now behave much more like they would on a real car, and react to the terrain in a much more authentic way. Improving the simulation also improves the accessibility, which is a great result for us.”

Beyond the cars shown in the Gamescom presentation, Playground Games isn’t yet talking about the size of Forza Horizon 5 ’s fleet or what, specifically, it will comprise. But, “There is literally nothing to stop you from driving a hypercar around the jungle,” Brown said. They’ll just handle a lot more poorly than, say, the Bronco. Brown said Forza Horizon 5 has multiple types of mud for players to sling around — like thick, gloppy chocolate cake frosting that leaves deep tread marks, and sloppy slurry that splatters the windshield and hood.

Forza Horizon 5 launches Nov. 9 for Windows PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. The game also launches the same day on Xbox Game Pass for both consoles and PC.

Published: Mar 29, 2023

What can you expect from the different Forza Horizon 5 Rally Adventure rally races? This new activity really leans into the name of this expansion and offers a classic and traditional racing experience that racing fans will be familiar with.

Utilising some of the Forza Horizon 5 Rally Adventure cars , you will slowly work your way through the expansion, completing events and these new races for the different Forza Horizon 5 Rally Adventure teams.  But, when it comes to the main new addition with this DLC, Rally races are the highlight.

Forza Horizon 5 Rally Adventure rally races are classic, solo point-to-point races with splitgate checkpoints as you race against the clock and the times of other players . They are new for this DLC and you can choose to keep your driving rally guide on or turn it off while racing for a more challenging experience.

The list of Forza Horizon 5 Rally Adventure rally races are:

  • Devil’s Pass

These races are quite difficult and a real challenge for both new and veteran players, especially if you do turn your driving guide off. So, you will need to really tune up your cars and make them the best they can be. You will also likely need one of the best offroad cars in Forza Horizon 5 to succeed on most of them.

Forza Horizon 5: Best Cars To Auction & Sell

Forza Horizon 5 is a beautiful and fun racing game that combines the best of arcade and simulation mechanics to make for an accessible title that everyone enjoys. For what it's worth, the game's progression is pretty loaded and will blast players with new cars and events at every step of the way, which can become pretty overwhelming after a point.

However, there will come a time when players need as many credits as possible to afford the many cars, upgrades, cosmetics, and other such tidbits that the game lets players buy. This is where the Auction House comes into the picture, allowing players to sell off their precious vehicles and get a tidy profit in the process. Here are some cars that sell for boatloads in Forza Horizon 5 's Auction House.

Lamborghini Aventador SVJ

The Lamborghini Aventador is one of the coolest cars of all time that players love to check out in any racing game . Forza Horizon 5 is no exception to this golden rule, and trying to get one of these cars in the game can be quite a challenge.

This is especially true for the SVJ variant, which is even pricier and requires a ton of money to procure. If players are lucky enough to get this car, then they can sell it in the Auction House for a cool 20 million.

Hoonigan Gymkhana 10 Ford Hoonicorn Mustang

The Hoonigan Gymkhana 10 Ford Hoonicorn Mustang — commonly known as the Hoonicorn V2 — is one of the most valuable cars in Forza Horizon 5 . This car is extremely rare and always sells for around 20 million credits whenever it's put on the auction house.

Not only does this car look great, but it's well-rounded as well. Players can use this car to win a multitude of races in the game without breaking a sweat.

Volkswagen Beetle Forza Edition

The Volkswagen Beetle is a classic and popular car that is still going strong to this day. Players who want to check out this car in Forza Horizon 5 will be pleased to know that a special edition exists just for this game.

That being said, procuring the Beetle FE is an entirely different can of worms. If players get their hands on this car, then they're guaranteed a 20 million payout if they list it on the auction house.

Koenigsegg Agera

The Koenigsegg Agera is one of the fastest cars in Forza Horizon 5 , which is no surprise given the pedigree of this manufacturer. It's also an extremely expensive car that can take quite some time and money before players manage to obtain this hypercar.

Players who want to sell this car at the auction house will be happy to know that it sells for an extremely high price, given how rare this car is. That being said, the Agera's top speed is so incredible that most people might not even want to put it up for auction in the first place!

Porsche 911 GT3

The Porsche 911 GT3 is one of the most stylish cars that players can drive around in Forza Horizon 5 . The car is pretty rare, so it's easy to see why it would sell for a ton of credits at the auction house.

It's a great well-rounded car that players can definitely try in races , although it's far from the best players can own in the game. For that reason, it's not a big deal to auction it off for a ton of credits instead.

Mercedes-AMG GT S

Mercedes-AMG is a manufacturer with several great cars worth checking out in Forza Horizon 5 . One of these vehicles is the GT S, which is a blast to drive since it's pretty well-rounded across all fronts.

RELATED: Forza Horizon 5: The Best Supercars & How Much They Cost

This car is also pretty rare and sells for a ton of money at the auction house. That being said, players may not want to sell this car simply because it's one of the better A-class vehicles they can use to win races with relative ease.

Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Spyder

There are many rare Lamborghini cars in Forza Horizon 5 that sell for a ton of cash, and one such vehicle is the Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Spyder. This particular model of the Gallardo is a rare find, making it easy to see why so many people covet this vehicle.

Auctioning this vehicle is bound to net a cool 20 million that can be used by the seller to bolster other vehicles or buy more valuable cars in the game. Players can also keep this car for themselves if need be, given how powerful this vehicle is.

Honda NSX-R GT

The rarest cars are the ones that can't be found via wheelspins and are pretty hard to acquire otherwise. The Honda NSX-R GT falls in this category, and it takes a great stroke of luck to obtain this car against all odds either in the Forzathon Shop or as a part of a Festival Playlist.

This pre-tuned version of the Honda NSX-R isn't really all that impressive in terms of performance, so players who want to attain a ton of credits should definitely put this vehicle up for action. 20 million credits are pretty much guaranteed given how rare this car is.

Forza Horizon 5 is available on Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and PC.

Forza Link freezing my Forza Horizon 5 after every race

So every time I complete a race, ANNA pops up telling me to try Forza Link and it soft-locks the game for me instead of letting me hit left on D-pad. I’ve already restarted the game 6 times and I’m about to quit and give up for good, which sucks considering I paid big bucks for a premium version of a game thats unplayable. Ive restarted the game, restarted my console, set all my controls to default and still nothing.

If this doesn't get fixed I’m about to uninstall it completely- any ideas on how to pass this Forza Link bug?
