The Start Of The Adventure

At the meeting point, you’ll be introduced to your local tour guide who will brief you on all the great stops we will check out. Our first stop will be at Quán Nước Mía 93, where you will try some freshly prepared spring rolls and green papaya salad paired with some tasty sugar cane juice. This stop prepares very typical south Vietnamese food so expect lots of vibrant vegetables and refreshing flavours. The perfect choices to kick off our tour!

Taste A Vietnamese Classic

Next up we will try the famous Vietnamese baguette – the Bánh Mì. Expect freshly baked bread filled with succulent meat or freshly caught fish topped with some fresh zesty local salad. You can pair this delicious Vietnamese staple with either a traditional coffee or fruit juice. The choice is yours!

Seafood Central

Our third stop will be at the very popular Ốc Đào restaurant. Here you’ll get to sample some of the country’s best seafood offerings. This will include locally sourced grilled shrimp and scallops as well as snails in butter accompanied by sauteed morning glory, a real southern delicacy! En route to our final stop, we will pass a great place to try out some local crab soup so be sure to ask your guide if you would like to try it, just make sure you leave enough room for dessert!

Tasty Desserts

Next up, it’s dessert! We’ll hit the famous Trop B dessert shop to complete our culinary adventure. You will have a huge choice of sweet treats to taste, including coconut ice cream with mulberry-flavoured sticky rice and refreshing bowls of mixed tropical fruits. Whatever you choose you won’t be disappointed. Still hungry? No problem! This is a great spot to try Bot Chien, a crispy rice cake. Simply ask your guide to order a tasty portion of these Vietnamese favourites.

Please speak to your guide about arranging taxis back to your hotel, other recommendations of places to visit or to be walked back to Bui Vien to continue the fun. Our helpful guide will be happy to help!

The tour was very well organized, and the guide spoke very good English. We got to see and experience so many things: Besides visiting a pagoda and Buddha statue, we also went on a boat ride (with a stop to enjoy a coconut drink) and visited local businesses producing rice paper, conical hats and mats. We had fresh fruit and tea for a snack and Pho soup for lunch which was delicious! We had such a good day and would highly recommend this tour!

We went on this tour, two families of four, with children aged 9-12 years old. We were really happy with it and highly recommend. Lin was our guide and she was fantastic, would really do a trip with her again. It was nice to do this privately and easy to adjust with Lin if needed. Maika helped us book the accommodation in Can Tho which we really appreciated. Would highly recommend and for sure do again.

After picking you up at meeting point and taste the best Noodle soup in town. After that, we will take a taxi then leave the tourist area behind and start your food adventure to non-tourist districts, a street food paradise, while tasting ‘Banh Khot” – The Central, and South’s rice pancake with a lot of fresh Vietnamese vegetables and shrimp.

Stroll along a street known for its barbecue street vendors and head to a local-favorite restaurant to taste the best "bo la lot" (beef in wild betel leaves) . Next up on your food adventure is Banh Mi - Saigon Baguette. You will experience the perfect fusion of 4 delicious flavors just after the first bite.

Walk into the heart of district 3 and discover the old apartments ( Nguyen Thien Thuat ). Start your day slurping a bowl of Vietnam’s unofficial national dish,  phở .

Not just any old  phở , either. The best  pho  in Ho Chi Minh City. We’ll even teach you how to pronounce it properly.

We will take you out of the tourist area for a food walk through the “real” Saigon. We’ll start at a pho place that’s been serving noodle soup for more than 40 years. This place is one of Saigon’s best kept secrets … and it also serves great Vietnamese coffee.

After breakfast, we’ll wander around the backstreets, past food stalls,  cơm tấm  (broken rice) restaurants and other intriguing local shops. As we walk we’ll start collecting snacks to sample later.

We’ll walk through a chaotic local wet market, where tiny stall sell dried, pickled and fresh produce, as well as live seafood, frogs and fresh meat. We’ll stop in the noisy eating area to soak in the craziness, and learn about vegetables, the tropical fruits in season at the time. We will stop for local drinks (sugar cane juice, coconut juice or fruit juice) and will have a snack (pork noodle salad aka Bún Thị Nướng).

A short walk from the market is a peaceful park, and a temple famous for its fortune telling and its Saigon history. After this stop we’ll enjoy a family-style meal in a nearby rice restaurant.

This tour, suitable for families, is a great introduction to Vietnam. During the tour you’s learn some of the basics that will make your visit to Vietnam enjoyable, including how to cross the road!

While it’s not physically possible to eat everything you see on the tour, when we’re finished with you, you should be able to identify a range of local dishes and know how to order them. We also hope you’ll have a deeper understanding of Vietnamese culture and history.
