Final Thoughts: Best Men’s Travel Hats of 2023

More travel gear & resources, best overall performance snapback melin trenches icon hydro.

Black and grey men's baseball cap

Material : Varies by model Pros : Waterproof, stylish, floatable, breathable Cons : A little pricey for a ball cap Best for : Active lifestyles

I’m usually a baseball hat guy when I travel, and melin makes some of the sturdiest and most customizable lids around. The Trenches Icon Hydro is perfect for men who lead an active lifestyle. If you’re searching for a hat that’s equally at home on a sunny beach, spray-drenched raft trip, or an urban cafe, this is the one.

Melin makes this hat in a load of configurations, styles, and sizes, each made from lightweight, breathable material that floats on water and has a hidden image that’s only visible when wet. It also has a crushable front panel which makes it perfect for people on the go.

Minimalist Do-Everything Cap Western Rise Versa

Western Rise Versa baseball hat

Material : Polyester, spandex, EVA foam bill Pros : Versatile, crushable, lifetime warranty Cons : May not fit larger heads Best for : Small-to-Medium heads wanting a does-it-all hat

The Western Rise Versa is a no-nonsense, minimalist baseball cap with no logos, designs, or distractions. This allows you to wear it with any outfit you please and make fussing over fashion old news.

Its modest looks are only half the story: The four-way stretch material is breathable, waterproof, and wicks moisture away. Its versatile design means you can jam it into your bag and use it anywhere from the gym to crowded city streets.

Dad Hat With Airplane Logo NxTSTOP Liftoff

NxTSTOP Liftoff

Material : Polyester, Spandex Pros : Curved bill, great for medium-to-large heads Cons : Some may find it a little dorky Best for : Dads, travel addicts

Here’s a ‘cool’ hat on Amazon with a classic dad hat design with a curved bill that’s clearly  made for travel. I like the ballcap design and may snag one of these bad boys for my upcoming trip to San Francisco.

In particular, I like the lightweight and breathable mesh and the front airplane logo so I can let others know exactly where my priorities lie. The NxTSTOP liftoff is the only hat on this list that’s not marketed as “crushable,” but it’s still travel friendly as can be.

Crushable & Ventilated Sun Cap Coolibar Kaden

Coolibar Kaden sun cap

Material : Cotton, polyester Pros : Easy to pack; ample sun protection Cons : Even with ventilation, it can run warm Best for : Long days in the sun – hiking, biking, beaching

I found two scabby ‘sunspots’ (keratosis) on my face the other day, so I’m taking sun protection seriously here in my mid-thirties. When I visit super-sunny South Africa this summer, I’ll be wearing a hat like this!

I like that this good-looking safari sun hat has a ‘stampede string’ like my favorite cowboy hat, plus it’s crushable, breathable, and extremely well-reviewed. Protect that precious skin, fellas.

UPF 50+ Straw Sun Hat Sunday Afternoons Havana

Sunday Afternoons Straw Havana

Material : 90% Paper, 10% Polyester Pros : Inexpensive, stylish, packable Cons : I honestly don’t see any cons here Best for : Protecting your head from the sun

Release your inner Hunter S. Thompson and embark on your very own Rum Diaries  adventure. This Sunday Afternoons faux-straw hat is perfect for blocking the sun as you slyly gallivant around the Caribbean looking for trouble.

It’s a classic travel hat — affordable, stylish, and packable — and a favorite of both men and women. So, like a good sweater, keep your eye on it or your lady friend may run away with it while you’re sleeping one off.

Indiana Jones Style Outback Fedora Dorfman Pacific

Brown Dorfman Pacific Outback Fedora

Material : 100% wool Pros : Waterproof, crushable, mysterious Cons : A little stuffy in hot weather Best for : Looking dashing as you swing from vine to vine

Just a heads up, you’ll need to be a particular type of traveler to do justice to this hat. So ask yourself — am I the kind of guy who can steal cursed artifacts, run a gauntlet of booby traps, fend off snakes, and still somehow manage to escape with his life? If so, proceed.

If you’re not already Indiana Jones, don’t expect this hat to make you his dead ringer. But you can count on it to reliably protect your melon from sun and rain while conferring a certain panache. Take that, René Belloq !

Wear Anywhere Cowboy Hat Overland Teton

Overland Teton wool cowboy headwear

Material : 100% wool Pros : Easy to pack, waterproof, classic style Cons : City slickers need not apply Best for : Country music stars and their fans

Here’s our favorite cowboy-style travel hat of 2023. It’s easy to figure out why: The wide brim casts a lot of shade, and like others on this list, you can jam it into your pack and have it bounce back into shape when you get to your destination.

It’s 100% wool, so it will repel the occasional monsoon and dry quickly. Teton makes this hat in three different colors and five different sizes. And it saves time, too — you won’t ever need to pull out your passport to prove you’re an American.

Crushable Wool & Felt Fedora Scala Classico

Black Scala Classico wool and felt fedora

Material : 100% Wool Pros : Attitude, weather-proof, travel-friendly Cons : You have to be worthy of it Best for : Cool and confident dudes with a sense of style

This ain’t your grandpappy’s fedora, gents. The Sala Classico is a century-old style that will make you look hot off the press. And durable? Try crushing it, rolling it, and jamming it into your pack — it’s up for anything.

With a bit of Bogart attitude and a soft-spoken tip of the brim, you’ll have the ladies ready to swoon. Scoop them up before they hit the floor revive them gently with a scotch. That’s ageless gallantry, and this is the travel hat for you, comrade.

Made-in-Ireland Flat Cap Biddy Murphy

Biddy Murphy Irish-style flat cap

Material : 100% wool Pros : Compact, unique, and oh-so continental Cons : Would be fightin’ words to diss this Irish classic Best for : Bald fellas like me

Guess what? With a last name like mine (Riley), I’m duty-bound to love the timeless Irish styling of this cap. Next time I tour my ancestral island, I’ll definitely be sporting one of these puppies and doing my best to blend in.

The Biddy Murphy is an Irish newsboy hat made in County Kerry, Ireland. This 100% wool cap is naturally weather-resistant and sheds rain, sleet, and snow. So pop it into your travel bag and get ready to down a Guinness (or several).

Stylin’ Washed Bucket Lid adidas Originals

adidas Originals bucket lid

Material : Cotton Pros : Keeps the sun off your neck Cons : Looks kinda ’90s, cotton doesn’t shed water Best for : Looking cool while turning back the clock

My big head doesn’t look good in most bucket hats, but Adidas has me pondering long and hard over their dazzling assortment of colors and patterns. I might just toss one of these into my pack the next time I’m traveling in Eastern Europe or Asia.

The Adidas Originals bucket hat is versatile and relaxed and goes with any travel attire. It’s also the most affordable hat on this list, so if you’re traveling on a budget, this might save you a few quid.

Beanie for Cold Weather American Giant Shop

American Giant Shop cold-weather beanie

Material : 100% acrylic Pros : Simple, warm, made in the USA Cons : Colors are a bit bland, not waterproof Best for : Cold ears on cool dudes

My great-uncle Leon is 80-some years old and has a cool AF sense of style. Nowadays his ears get cold easily, so I bought him this beanie to take on our trip to DC last month. Boom, toasty ears, no problem.

He loves his new beanie from American Giant Shop. It’s so simple, comfortable, and warm. Leon is a traditionalist and loves that this made in USA cap has minimal branding. Throw one in your winter travel bag next time and pretend you’re as cool as Leon. (Good luck with that.)

Factors We Considered When Picking Products

Silhouette of a traveling man in an airport wearing a fedora next to his luggage looking out towards the tarmac

There’s no magic formula for choosing hats in general — if it feels good and looks good, you’re off to a good start. But when you add “travel-friendly” as a requirement, you’ve got to consider specific attributes, including:

When traveling, a hat will either be on your head or mixed in with your other gear. When it’s on your head, it may be there for hours, exposed to sun, wind, and rain. You’ll sweat into it, and at some point it may start to itch. Choose hats that are soft, properly sized, and won’t lose their shape.

In general, wool and synthetics are more water-resistant, breathable, and odor-free than cotton. I mostly prefer 100% wool because it doesn’t get soaking wet the way cotton does, and it stays fresh-smelling for longer periods.

Style of Hat

Headgear comes in two basic flavors — Hats (‘has a brim but no visor’) and Caps (‘has a visor but no brim’) — and both travel equally well. Choose from this list based on the conditions you’ll encounter when traveling and then add a dash of your personal style. You can’t go wrong… unless you choose a neon plaid propellor beanie.

On a serious note, please  do  choose hats that offer good sun protection. The folks at  SkinCancer.org say, “the best hats for sun protection have a brim of at least three inches to shade the face, scalp, neck, shoulders and upper back.”

Packability/Crushability

Once you take off your hat, it’s got to go somewhere… in a coat pocket, perhaps, or flattened and layered into your luggage. If you want it spring back into proper shape, look for products that advertise as ‘crushable’ or ‘packable.’ Wool felt performs well, as do many synthetics. However, straw is brittle and will crack or crumble, and cotton will wrinkle and crease.

Sad story: I took a spiffy fedora with me to Europe last year, but had to hastily jam it into my bag at one point. In Italy, it emerged crushed and never regained its former glory. Since then I’ve only traveled with caps that can take a beating and still look fresh.

You put a lot of effort and expense into planning the perfect trip, so don’t cheap out on that fashion statement sitting above your ears. Invest in one of these quality products that are sure to survive your globetrotting adventures. Go for it.

When you look good, you feel good. Spending a little extra on an accessory like a hat may seem superfluous, but in reality, can you put a price on self-confidence? Yes. Yes, you can. But most of these hats are affordable and can be the perfect accent for any travel outfit. Splurge a little, buddy!

Man in a field wearing a 2023 fedora and looking towards mountains and meadows in the distance

Wherever you’re headed next, you can’t go wrong with any of 2023’s best men’s travel hats. But which one? Will you tour the Temple of Doom in your Indiana Jones Hat from Dorfman Pacific ? Swing up into the saddle in a cowboy hat from Overland ? Or make evening rounds in NYC wearing a snapback from Melin ?

Of course, there’s no reason to stop at just one new hat. I’ve got busy travel plans in 2023 and the hat I take skiing in Telluride isn’t likely to be the same one I’ll need while sailing in the Mediterranean. And I’m always in the market for a new EDC hat for running errands or people-watching on the mall.

Just remember that the key element of any good travel hat for men is that it must be crushable, packable, and weather resistant. ‘Stylish’ is my close second consideration since I need all the help I can get in that department.

And third, let’s not forget why hats were invented in the first place — to protect us from the imposing sun. A hat that aces all three of those considerations will be your reliable travel companion for years to come.

Construction The Rhode Trip Hat (formerly Hat No. 5) is the fifth hat I designed in 2012 while knitting hats for a great project run by a local yarn store (Lovelyarns), called the 500 Hats Project. This hat has become a staple and I love knitting it as gifts and I have made at least four for myself. The pattern deserved an update and a better name than hat no. 5!

This hat is knit in the round and uses basic cabling. This is a great project for an adventurous beginner ready to take on a cabled hat or an experienced knitter looking for an easy to remember, quick cabled hat pattern. There is a companion cowl, the Rhode Trip Cowl, also available as a free download on Ravelry.

Let customers speak for us

Absolutely love this hat, as well as the other hemp hats. Superior quality, made to last forever. Bought my first one almost 20 years ago, and still love it

Cool Air Hiker Hat

Very comfortable and styling

Aussie Golf Soakable Mesh Hat

Love this golf hat!!! I have been looking it seems like forever for a comfortable well fitting hat in this style...

Wore it for the first time in a heavy rain sat 03/02. Worked great kept me warm and dry. All good so far.

Kentucky Waterproof Oiled Cotton Cap

The hat fits perfectly and is exactly the size and shape I was looking for! I've had a hat felt hat like this for over 30 years for walking in the snow. This was the perfect replacement.

Black Diamond Wool Hat

The surfing hat was good looking we bought 2. However, the strap was way too tight and not adjustable to a more comfortable fit. The male end of the snap closure for the strap was on backwards and not changeable. Between the tight strap and the closure the hat was too uncomfortable to wear. I returned the hats and learned that Conner charged $10/ hat restocking fee. All in all it was an unpleasant experience

Free Unlimited Return for Store Credit or Exchanges for $1.98 via Redo Valid in US.

Very good quality of workmanship and materials. Service from this company is excellent

London Lace Victorian Ladies Hat

This hat is beautifully crafted. As the website photos show, there is no included chin strap although there are two attach tabs (right and left). This hat has excellent detail and construction.

Lone Wolf Crushable Leather Hat

Top quality hat! Excellent shipping container to protect hat during shipping. Have not had the chance to wear it in the rain yet! But I will soon. Fit is good and just looks and feels great.

All my orders from Conner Hats have been excellent.

You buy a second in another color. I first purchased the BC Hats Bac Pac Traveller Oily Australian Leather Hat in Brown. It was the best looking and best fitting hat I have ever worn in my 70 years. My excuse to buy another in black was I needed one to match my other "outfits" haha. The black one is just as amazing and exact same fit. A little tight at the first wearing but after that, it is a perfect fit to my head, and tight enough not to blow off in a wind. So happy, I display them in the entry to my home.

BC Hats Bac Pac Traveller Oily Australian Leather Hat

Looked at the Gambler from many companies, but chose Conner due to quality and style. This hat is gorgeous, and it fit perfectly.

Quincy Waterproof Wool Gambler

I just received my hat and loved the quality, fit, style and craftsmanship. Thank you guys!

Dakota Western Shapeable Wool Hat

Great style, fit, color, price point. Thanks!

Northern Front Oilskin Hat

Quality hat, fits well.

7 Best Travel Hat Styles

Written By: Niki Landry

FeltPanama Hat

I’ve been drawn to panama hats lately, and the masculine feel they give to my outfits. I already own a paper one for the summer, and I’m tempted to purchase a felt one similar to the one below. It would be great on a camping trip, and I’m considering bringing one to my next National Park vacation. Really anyplace where you are headed outdoors into nature, and even in cities with a laid back vibe. I would naturally pair the felt hat with a plaid shirt and denim.

You’ll want to look your best when you travel! Read my travel tips to Pack Light Stylishly !

trip hat.com

Feather Fedora Hat

Everyone should own at least one fedora. It’s the go to hat for most travelers making them one of the best travel hat styles – it pairs well with almost anything. Straw for tropical destinations or felt for the winter, you can’t go wrong with a fedora. The feather embellishment on the one below is a nice change from a typical ribbon band, and taupe is the perfect neutral.

trip hat.com

Striped Floppy Hat

A glamorous poolside hat is a must for any beach or resort vacation. This wide brim hat doesn’t just look great it’s also functional. Sun protection is so important and most people aren’t diligent about reapplying sunscreen. A wide brim hat will give you an extra layer to keep your face and skin protected.

trip hat.com

A ladylike style that will add glamour to your ensemble. You can find them with bows, flowers, buckles, or feathers depending on your preference. Bring them on trips to stylish cities, especially in the winter to keep you warm and toasty.

trip hat.com

Wool Baseball Cap

Everyone loves a baseball cap, and it’s an icon of American style. Instead of sporting your favorite brand or team, opt for something a little more stylish. Pick an interesting material like wool, linen, or tweed. The quilted style below is a smart detail on a solid color.

trip hat.com

Newsboy Cap

I’m a big fan of a flatcap to top off casual outfits. I own three and was so close to purchasing another on my recent trip to Ireland. They are easy to pack inside your packing cubes , and similar to the panama I like the masculine edge they add to my look. Look for chambray and cotton in the warmer months and plaid and tweed in the fall and winter. These definitely top our best travel hat list!

trip hat.com

Beanies are a must for cold weather destinations. Ears get cold and you lose heat through your head. This striped version with pom would be a fun addition to your ski outfit. Lighter and open knit styles are good for sightseeing in warmer locales.

Even though they are great for travel, hats aren’t always the easiest to pack. Packable options are out there, but are not always in line with my needs and style preferences. Unstructured hats like the flatcap can easily be laid flat but a panama would be much more difficult. Most travelers solve this problem by wearing them when they travel. Others stuff the interior with items like socks or underwear and pad the crown with clothing.

Glad you found them useful Lisa 🙂

I LOVE the fedora in the top photo (girl w/ backpack and binoculars) – where is it from? Thanks!

This one is a stock photo so we don’t know the location of that hat, but check out number two on the list for similar ideas 🙂

I always take my straw fedora when I go south but I wish I could find a good looking Packable hat. Any suggestions?

Hope you like them!

I’ve been taking my straw fedora with me when I go south, but it would be easier to find a good looking Packable hat. Any suggestions?

While I agree you absolutely need to wear a hat in the sun, finding a packable hat for summer climates isn’t that easy! Any suggestions?

Hi Jeanie, great question! Here’s a list we’ve put together for an upcoming article:

I found a stall in the market of the MBK mall in Bangkok that sold natural cotton canvas hats in half a dozen styles. I bought a wide-brimmed one with a bow that has been wonderful for beach and sun travel. Because it’s all cotton I can pack it easily and clean off stains or marks, and I get lots of compliments. It keeps the sun out of my eyes, but doesn’t necessarily block the rays. I wish there were more posh, packable hats like this!

I also found a packable hat I absolutely love and still wear years later. I bought it on Khao San Rd 🙂

Rhiannon

M&S have a lovely wool fedora hat – in black, navy and deep olive-green. I love ’em! M&S sale, here I come, haha! (Oh, and they’re about £30 each, by the way)

Thanks for the tip!

Phebe

I have a cotton crocheted sunhat, with a wide brim that has a thin plastic rim inside to hold the shape of the brim, keeping it from being too floppy. It packs flat, since the crocheted crown just sort of compresses.

It comes with a little floral pin for embellishment, but I periodically change it to something from the countries we visit. A fake frangipani in Samoa, a madras flower in Antigua, things like that.

It goes with everything but winter clothes. For warmth, I have an alpaca beanie in my cold weather packing cube. Takes up less space than a pair of socks.

I just bought a big floppy sunhat too and it’s crushable, love it! Beanies and crochet style hats have always been a staple in my winter wardrobe. Hats are one accessory that completely changes a look.

Margie U.

I always wear a hat for day wear; but, for travel, my go to topper is a beige, packable Columbia Booney. It’s a sun-shielding/water-resisting wide brimmer with an adjustable toggle strap. I like the wide brim for UPF 50 sun protection and to keep the rain off my eyeglasses and face. I also like having the adjustable strap to keep the hat on my head in case of wind. When traveling, my hands are usually busy with luggage, camera, or totes so it’s is nice not having to worry about losing my hat in a sudden gust. If I’m indoors, I merely push it backward and it lays on my back with the strap hanging around my neck. I’m not apt to leave it behind like I’ve done with other hats. It’s functional, nice looking, and works well for me.

I also try to always pack a comfortable hat in the heat. It’s good to have that extra layer of protection between you and the sun!

No matter the time of year, you may find yourself packing a hat for your next trip. The best travel hat for you will depend on the weather, location, and how you like to travel. A winter hat or beanie makes more sense if you're going somewhere cold. For hot, sunny climates, a sun hat will protect you from the sun (crazy, right?). For anything in between, a classic ball cap adds something to your wardrobe, keeps the sun out of your eyes, and covers up a bad hair day.

We've compiled a list of our favorites from all three categories to help you find the best travel hat: packable baseball caps, packable winter hats, and packable sun hats. There are various materials, designs, and levels of packability, so there's something for everyone. Some of them even come in wild colors if you want to add flair to your outfit!

Before diving into the list, you should decide what you expect from a travel hat. It’s best to base your needs on prior experience and where you frequently travel because, in the end, that's the best judgment of what you'll need. Staying warm is more important than looking cute climbing the Eiffel Tower in January, but this list of hats will help you do both! If you want something smaller, go with a packable hat. If you want something breathable and smell-free, go with something made from Merino Wool. The possibilities are endless!

Let's dive in…er, put a hat on?

Melin Pace Hydro

If you’re looking for a packable hat with features that bolster your headwear game on any vacation, look no further than the Melin Pace Hydro. It floats, which means it’s handy for water adventures—we wore it in the ocean and were able to find it easily any time a rogue wave came in a little too fast and knocked it off. It has anti-microbial technology to ensure it stays clean and smell-free, and is breathable and recycled. What’s not to love about that?

The brim on this travel hat is flatter than some users might be used to, but you can train some curvature into it over time. The exterior has reflective accents so that you can be seen on early morning or late night runs, there are holes in the materials for breathability, and you can throw it in the washer occasionally to ensure it stays clean.

This isn’t the most packable hat; however, it folds up easily and will fit inside most daypacks and larger slings without an issue. It’s lightweight, too, so it won’t hold you back if you attach it to your crossbody bag. Depending on how you travel, this might be the best travel hat for you!

  • It floats, which is ideal for aquatic adventures
  • The anti-microbial technology ensures it doesn’t get musty
  • It isn’t the most packable hat on this list
  • Some users won’t like how flat the brim is

Gravel The Travelers Hat

The Gravel Travelers Hat looks like something you’d wear running errands across your hometown, but it has features that make it one of the best travel hat models for those looking for a packable hat for their next trip. Plus, it comes in seven colorways at the time of writing, so you can find one that fits the vibe you’re trying to accomplish. How fun is that?

If you’ve got a larger head or a lot of hair, you might find the fit isn’t perfect. Plus, the five-panel style might not be for everyone. However, we dig the look of this hat and its sleek and subtle logo. Some packable hat models are logo-free, which can look awkward. However, with the Gravel Travelers Hat, you’ve got something on the front panel that isn’t too in your face, which is the best of both worlds.

When you’re ready to travel, you can fold it down and use it as a packable hat. After unfolding it, there may be some wrinkles initially, but we’ve found that they go away quickly! Whether exploring a new city or hitting the trail in a sunny climate, this might be the best travel hat for your next trip.

  • It folds down smaller than you’d expect
  • The logo is sleek and adds flair
  • Larger heads might not fit
  • The design isn’t for everyone

getaway Pack Light Hat 2.0

Sometimes, packable gear gets a steep price hike because it’s an item known to be used for travel. However, that isn't the case with the getaway Pack Light Hat. At the time of writing, it comes in at under $40, which is a solid deal for a packable hat that packs down small enough to fit into your palm. Plus, the design is simple, offering a sleek look that goes with almost any outfit you might bring on your next trip.

Whereas this hat looks sleek, the design can look slightly bulky on some. If your head doesn’t fill out the materials, this may be more of an issue. However, for most users, this won’t be a problem. For the price, durable materials, and packability features, this is one of the best travel hat models that comes at a budget-friendly price. There are five colorways, at least at the time of writing!

  • Comes at a budget-friendly price
  • It utilizes durable materials, so you don’t have to worry about being gentle with it
  • Materials can look slightly bulky if your head shape doesn’t fill it out
  • Style won’t match all outfits

Parapack P-CAP

Okay, ultralight travelers, this next one is for you. The Parapack P-Cap is a packable hat that also makes it on the list of best travel hat models because it is comfortable and easy to pack and unpack. It’s easy to adjust the size for any head width, it’s UPF 50+ rated, and it’s crafted from recycled materials, too. What’s not to love about that?

Considering how light this thing is (one ounce—that’s the same as a single AA battery!), the materials aren’t as durable as other packable hats on this list. However, that doesn’t mean this thing won’t stand the test of time. It isn’t the most structured hat, which can make it look a little goofy at times; however, it also adds to its breathability, which is helpful. Overall, it wears like you’d expect a packable hat to, so keep that in mind.

If you’re looking for a hat that can pack down tiny, is incredibly lightweight, and comes in multiple colorways, this might be the best travel hat for your next trip!

  • One of the most packable hats on the market
  • The materials are durable for how thin they are
  • The creases can stay longer than you’d like
  • It looks sporty, which might not be your goal

Western Rise Versa Hat Review

If you’re a digital nomad looking for the best travel hat for your journey, you’ve probably come across the Western Rise Versa Hat. Online, it’s touted as one of the most versatile packable hats on the market (hence the name). You might be wondering, does it live up to the hype?

For the most part, yes! It’s sleek, stylish, and packs down small enough to fit inside most places you’d try to store a hat. We’ve found it comfortable across wearers, although it can look large on smaller headed-travelers. There are six colorways available, but none are very saturated, which might be a bummer for some. However, all the available colors are easy to match, which is ideal for the only hat you’ll be bringing on a long trip!

If you’re looking for a do-it-all cap that’ll fit into almost any adventure you can throw at it, this might be the best travel hat for your next journey across the globe! Or, take it to the grocery store. That works, too!

  • It’s a do-it-all hat that works for most situations
  • Packs down small enough for world travel
  • Might not work for smaller-headed travelers
  • No vibrant colors are available at the time of writing

Outdoor Research Radar Pocket Cap

If you’re looking for a packable hat that doesn’t look exactly like every other travel hat on the market, check out the Outdoor Research Radar Pocket Cap. It has a unique style tailored to outdoor activities or crossing a sweaty concrete jungle and offers some of the best sun protection.

Outdoor Research rates this hat for three seasons and touts the TransAction™ headband as an excellent way to keep sweat away from your eyes. It folds up small enough to fit into your pocket, which is where the name comes from. There are three sizes to choose from, so you don’t have to worry about adjusting it once it arrives. There are six colorways available, too, which we dig.

This style won’t be the answer to everyone’s dream of finding the best travel hat for their next adventure. That said, we enjoy the look and think it’s a solid change of pace from other options available on this list!

  • It has a unique style compared to other travel hats
  • It offers UPF 40 protection
  • The look might not work for everyone
  • It isn’t adjustable, so you need the exact right size

Fjallraven Tab Hat

There’s something special about a winter hat that looks like it could have been handcrafted by somebody’s grandma a few decades ago. Whereas the Fjallraven Tab Hat doesn’t go that far, it has a unique heritage look that utilizes modern fabric technology to ensure you stay warm on your next trip.

It’s crafted from waffle-knit recycled polyester, which is comfortable on your head and good for the environment. It proudly uses no animal-derived materials, either, which is a bonus for animal lovers. At the time of writing, five colorways are available, so you can get one that fits the winter vibe you’re going for, regardless of the destination of your next trip.

This isn’t the warmest hat on the market; however, for the price, cold-weather protection provided, and comfort offered, this is one of the best travel hats for fall, light winter, and spring adventures.

  • It has a heritage look with modern fabrics
  • Will work for three seasons
  • Not the warmest hat on the market
  • Small on larger heads, which means it may not fully cover your ears

Smartwool Thermal Merino Stowe Pocket Beanie

Some travelers might struggle to pack a winter hat in their packing list because it feels like a waste of space. After all, most people will survive without one, and it only has one actual use. Can you survive without it? Yes. Should you have to? No! Enter the Smartwool Thermal Merino Stowe Pocket Beanie.

This packable hat is super breathable, folds up incredibly small, and keeps you warm on days that aren’t below freezing. Plus, you can use it as a liner with another hat, which offers extra comfort and heat on frigid days. This is ideal for trips into cold weather featuring outdoor adventures; wear just the Smartwool hat to explore town, though we recommend layering it with another one when heading out into the wild since it’s not the warmest option out there.

It’s crafted from Merino Wool, which is breathable and moisture-wicking, which we dig. If you’re looking for a light hat that won’t break the bank or weigh you down, the Smartwool Thermal Merino Stowe Pocket Beanie might be the best travel hat for you!

  • Packs down tiny
  • Layers very well if you’re heading to frigid climates
  • Alone, it might not be warm enough for super cold trips
  • Not many styling options—what you see is what you get

Arc'teryx Mallow Toque Hat

Sometimes, you want a winter hat that looks good and keeps you warm at the same time. However, many models will excel in one feature or the other, not at the same time. Not the Arc'teryx Mallow Toque Hat! It comes in two colorways, is crafted from a 50/50 blend of tech wool (a polyester/wool mixture) and recycled polyester, and has unique heritage styling that matches most outfits.

The price might seem high for what you get, and whereas we agree with that, this thing is quite warm compared to other hats that look similar. The combination of fabrics keeps you warm without suffocating your head, which is ideal for trips where you’ll be active or walking a lot. The two colorways might not work for all travelers, but they’re more unique than many options on this list, which we dig.

If you’re looking for something a little different from a brand that can be trusted to keep you warm, this might be the best travel hat for your next cold-weather adventure!

  • It looks more stylish than other winter hats
  • Tech wool adds durability and functionality
  • The price is high for what you get
  • Not many colorway options

Patagonia Better Sweater Beanie

Patagonia has been a trusted brand for outdoor enthusiasts for decades. However, just because their gear is tailored for wilderness enthusiasts doesn’t mean that it can’t be used in the city. The Patagonia Better Sweater Beanie is as soft as your favorite sweater, utilizes bluesign® materials, and matches any other Patagonia gear you already have on your packing list.

This isn’t the warmest hat on the market, but isn’t meant to be. Most people don’t need to traverse sub-zero temperatures regularly; if you do, this isn’t the hat for you. This hat does well on an average winter day, in the fall or spring. It’s lightweight, easy to pack down, and comes in four easy-to-match colorways.

It feels a little pricey for what you get at around $50; however, its durability, usability, and sustainability make it a candidate for the best travel hat for your next trip!

  • A warm hat from a trusted brand
  • It matches other Patagonia and similar branded gear
  • This isn’t the warmest hat on the market, especially for the price
  • It might make your head itch slightly

Minus33 Merino Wool Ridge Cuff Beanie

Who said that Merino Wool has to be expensive? The Minus33 Merino Wool Ridge Cuff Beanie proves that Merino Wool doesn’t need to empty your wallet and is one of the best travel fabrics on the market.

This hat is currently available with Amazon Prime shipping, so you can get it for that trip you just remembered that you should have prepared for. It comes in at under $25, which is excellent for Merino Wool. If you aren’t familiar with the material, check out our guide !

We feel that this hat looks a little cheap, which isn’t the end of the world, but it will deter some users. However, over two dozen colorways are available at the time of writing, so you can find one that fits your vibe.

For the price and materials, this is one of the best travel hat models for winter adventures on a budget.

  • This hat is budget-friendly
  • It’s crafted from Merino Wool, so it wicks moisture and can be worn a bunch between washing
  • It looks cheaper than other Merino options we’ve seen—you get what you pay for
  • Material quality isn’t quite up to standard

BAGGU Packable Sun Hat

As far as fashion is concerned, an excellent packable sun hat is only as good as the colorways it comes in. The BAGGU Packable Sun Hat comes in 11 colorways, at least at the time of writing, including fun ones like Clouds, Rowena, and Lemon Tree. In addition to having fun colorways, the brim spans 19.75 inches of coverage in all, which offers ample protection from the sun.

With any sun hat, you risk the wind catching the brim. The BAGGU Packable Sun Hat has materials that make this part of the hat flat, making it easier to catch the wind. However, the tie cord ensures your hat won’t fly off your head, even in the worst wind storms.

The hat is crafted from organic cotton and is machine washable, both of which make for a capable and long-lasting travel companion. If protection from the sun and a cute-looking accessory are what you’re after, this might be the best travel hat for your next trip!

  • A ton of fun colorways are available
  • It has a wide brim for sun protection
  • Can get caught in the wind fairly easily
  • The style isn’t for everyone

FURTALK Beach Hat

Some vacations will take you to the beach, so it’s best to have planned protection from the sun’s rays while you’re there. Even if you wear sunscreen, keeping the sun out of your eyes while you enjoy the water, read a book, or listen to the waves is nice.

The FURTALK Beach Hat comes at a budget-friendly price, has multiple colorways available, and folds down to pack it more easily. When we shoved it into a travel backpack, it came out on the other side of a few airplane rides without any noticeable creases. It’s crafted from paper, cotton, and polyester, which give it the unique straw-hat look without being super breakable.

That said, this isn’t the most durable hat on the market, so it’s best to try and keep it out of harm’s way. It doesn’t have a drawstring on the bottom to keep it from falling off, so it might not be the best choice for a windy day, though we found it fit pretty securely and stayed on well.

Given the price point, sun protection offered, and trendy look, this might be the best packable sun hat for you.

  • It comes in at a budget-friendly price
  • Packs down well for such a large hat
  • Not the most durable hat on this list
  • It’s a one-trick pony; there aren’t a ton of uses for this hat

Wallaroo Hat Company Montecito

Everyone should have an adventure hat that meets their needs. Whether that be a small, packable hat, something that works for the outdoor adventures you’re accustomed to going on, or a hat that offers protection from the sun, it’s an integral part of any packing list. The Wallaroo Montecito is perfect for trips in the sun because of its packable size and stellar sun protection.

You can fold it down to fit inside your daypack or a large sling, and the materials boast UPF 50+ protection, so your head doesn’t get torched by the sun. It comes in around $60, which isn’t bad for a travel hat; however, it is far from the most packable hat on this list and requires a little finnessing to get into your travel bag.

The combination of style and sun protection offered by the Wallaroo Montecito makes this one of the best travel hat models around and one that you’ll probably end up wearing at home, too.

  • Offers UPF 50+ protection
  • Has a focus on style as well as function
  • Doesn’t pack down that small
  • Not a great option for rugged trips because of its basic materials

Tilley Dunes Drifter Hat

Some sun hats are more for looks than packability, which is fine. However, sometimes, you want something you can pack down easily but still offers sun protection. Enter the Tilley Dunes Drifter Hat. This model is easy to pack, is crafted from lightweight materials, and looks stylish and fun at the same time. Two colors are available, too, so you can get one that fits the vibe you’re shooting for.

There are only two sizes, which feels limiting compared to other Tilley hats on the market. You can adjust it once you’ve got it on, which is helpful. The drawstring ensures it won’t fly off your head in the wind and offers a way to hang onto it without holding it in your hand. Just wear it around your neck!

For the durability, lightweight materials used, and sun protection, this might be the best packable sun hat for your next trip into the wild.

  • A do-it-all hat for any adventure, urban or rural
  • The drawstring is helpful and easy to use
  • Only two sizes to choose from
  • It is not the most stylish hat, even if it is functional

Outdoor Research Helios Sun Hat

For those who are serious about sun protection, it’s essential to have a do-it-all model in your arsenal that can handle any trip. Here at Pack Hacker, that’s the Outdoor Research Helios Sun Hat. We don’t feel that it’s always the best travel hat for the job, but it does most things well, and we’ll explain how.

The materials are durable enough to handle the bumps and knocks of travel, from days fishing for trout on the river to afternoons at the beer garden in the city. However, the fabric is lightweight, so it won’t take up much room or weight inside your pack when you aren’t using it. Remember, it’ll rain in the desert every now and then! Because of the chosen materials (nylon and polyester), it’s easy to pack down.

As we mentioned earlier, this hat isn’t perfect for every trip. However, it has a use for most adventures, and that’s what counts!

  • Offers excellent sun protection
  • Utilizes durable materials
  • Not suitable for fancier occasions
  • Lightweight materials might not be the most durable

So, there you have it: some of the best travel hat brands and models available today. Hopefully, you’ve found a new companion to accompany you on your next trip, whether you’re going to Jersey or Japan. Happy travels!

The Best Travel Hats for Your Next Trip

When the wanderlust sets in and it's time to take off for a new adventure, there's nothing like finding the perfect hat to top off the occasion. From crushable sun hats that will keep you cool to cozy toppers that will warm you up, these are the best hats for travel. Before you start packing, let this post guide you along the path toward the best travel hats for men and women.

Crushable Hats

You're crushing it! By far the most packable hats of the bunch, crushable hats are ideal for travel because you don’t have to worry about ruining their shape whether you throw them in a carry-on suitcase, handbag, or backpack. There might be some wrinkling or creasing depending on the material, but a well-made crushable hat will bounce back even after some serious wear and tear.

The fedora is a classic travel companion no matter where you're going. Not only does it add instant flair to any outfit for both men and women, but it's also foldable and easy to stash. Traveling to a tropical paradise? You can't go wrong with a straw fedora. Venturing to a winter wonderland? Don't leave home without a felt fedora.

Baseball Cap

The crushability factor of baseball hats is one of some debate. While many baseball caps have rigid bills (or cardboard bills if they're vintage) that should not be folded, there are plenty of soft, unstructured caps and styles such as this Stetson wool blend baseball cap that can withstand a little rough play. One of the important factors to consider is the material of the hat; cotton, wool, polyester, and other synthetic blends are generally more resilient.

Also known as a fisherman's hat, the bucket hat is for the traveler who values comfort and convenience above all else. Most often made from canvas or heavy-duty cotton fabrics, bucket hats can be folded, rolled, or crammed in a bag without ever losing their shape. Practically synonymous with the great outdoors, the bucket hat is a must-have when hiking a national park, camping in the mountains, or going fishing.

With its signature floppy brim and slightly unstructured design, the floppy hat is an ideal excursion-ready accessory. Available in a variety of fabrics from straw to wool, this stylishly laid-back lid can be stowed away and still bounce back into shape.

When it comes to packable, foldable hats, the flat cap is a top pick. With such short brims, flat caps (newsboys, duckbills, ivy caps) don't provide much protection from the elements, but they are easy to take on the go and make a stylish topper for a casual daytime stroll or a more formal evening out.

Much like flat caps, beanies are among the best travel hats simply because they are so easy to pack. When traveling to colder climates, a chunky wool beanie will keep your head and ears warm and toasty while adding a dash of interest to your overall look.

Sun Protection Hats

Different hats protect you from the sun in different ways. While some hats are actually made with materials that block the sun’s harmful rays, other hats help shield you from the sun with their shape and design. These are the best hats to consider when traveling to sunny destinations.

Wide Brim Hat

The best sun hats have wide brims. This means hats with at least a three-inch brim to protect the face, ears, and neck. While wide brim hats come in various materials, those made from straw are ideally suited for warmer climates. Panama hats are a classic example of this lightweight and breathable style.

The key is to select a hat with a tightly knit weave that doesn't let any of the sun's harmful rays through. A good rule to remember: If you can see through the weave, leave. Most straw hats today are fairly sturdy and can be considered packable sun hats. To make sure, gently bend the rim of the hat to test it out. If it starts to crack or fray, be extra careful when traveling as it could get easily damaged.

Hat With UPF

Just as sunscreens offer SPF (sun protection factor) to shield skin against sunburn, clothes with UPF (ultraviolet protection factor ) block the sun's harmful UV rays, which could lead to skin cancer. This high UPF rating means that it blocks 97.5 percent or more of the sun's UV rays.

Also, look for hats with an adjustable chin strap — not only does this keep the hat in place to protect you while wearing it, but it also makes it easy to tie to your backpack or pocket when not in use.

Check out our selection of mens sun protection hats and womens sun protection hats .

Waterproof Hats

Whether you find yourself trekking through a tropical rainstorm or splashing around in a serene lake, a waterproof hat is a must. Hats that can withstand water come in different shapes, sizes, and fabrics. Read labels to determine the level of water resistance — while a polyester baseball cap or denim bucket hat might be fine completely immersed in water, a wool fedora or straw hat might only be able to repel a few sprinkles before getting ruined. Look for waterproof headgear such as those from Outdoor Research and Columbia Sportswear.

Meghan Markle hits the slopes for ‘perfect trip’ with friends as Kate Middleton remains unseen

Thanks for contacting us. We've received your submission.

Meghan Markle enjoyed a day of skiing with friends at a resort in Utah as Kate Middleton continues to recover from surgery in private.

The Duchess of Sussex’s friend Heather Dorak posted an Instagram photo Thursday of herself smiling beside Markle and another friend, Kelly McKee Zajfen, at the top of Powder Mountain near Salt Lake City.

“Wow, what a perfect trip!!” Dorak captioned the post. “My heart is so full.”

Meghan Markle with Heather Dorak and Kelly McKee Zajfen skiing.

The Pilates Platinum owner shared that all three moms had the best time hanging out with their children during the day and then bonding with each other in the evening.

“The kids crushed the slopes by day and the adults howled with laughter deep into the night,” she wrote.

“Truly lucky in love with our wonderful friends!”

McKee Zajfen, the co-founder of Alliance of Moms, shared the same photo on her account with a message about all the laughs they shared.

“Beyond grateful for the best of friends! What a trip! Thank you doesn’t even begin to express what my heart is feeling after this trip,” she captioned her post Thursday.

“The love of family time and adventure and belly laughs made this trip one for the books! Here’s to many more adventures with friends that feel like family and appreciating each day.”

The group of ladies looked giddy as they bundled up atop a snowy mountainscape.

Markle, 42, was dressed in a medium-length puffer coat and accessorized with big sunglasses and a black cable-knit Moncler beanie ($325).

Meanwhile, Dorak clutched onto her ski poles while wearing white mittens, a matching hat and a black coat layered over a pink sweater. McKee Zajfen, for her part, rocked a stylish silver, black and white coat, sunglasses and a thick knit hat.

Several of Dorak’s followers commented on her post to express how happy they were to see Markle out and about.

“Our meghan! love you all & hope archie & lili & harry & all of your families got to enjoy the slopes too! lots of love,” another supporter added, referring to Markle’s husband, Prince Harry, and their two kids: Prince Archie, 4, and Princess Lilibet, 2 .

The “Suits” alum’s ski summit comes amid her estranged sister-in-law Middleton’s mysterious recovery from abdominal surgery, which she underwent in January.

Prince William raised alarm bells for his wife’s well-being when he bailed on a royal engagement Tuesday as the Princess of Wales, 42, continued to remain unseen by the public.

However, Middleton’s rep confirmed to Page Six exclusively that the princess is “doing well.”

“Kensington Palace made it clear in January the timelines of the princess’ recovery and we’d only be providing significant updates,” her rep told us Thursday. “That guidance stands.”

Middleton isn’t expected to attend any public-facing events until after Easter, though she reportedly is already back to conducting her royal duties from bed as she recuperates.

Network observability using TCP handshake round-trip time

Build here, go anywhere.

In Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform (RHOCP), ensuring efficient packet delivery is paramount for maintaining seamless communication between applications. However, challenges like network congestion, misconfigured systems, or hardware limitations can lead to slow connections, impacting overall performance. Round-trip time (RTT), typically measured in milliseconds, plays a crucial role in monitoring network health and diagnosing issues.

Implementing smooth round-trip time (SRTT) with eBPF

The RTT is the time it takes for a packet to travel from the sender to the receiver and back. In a network, RTT can vary due to factors like network congestion, varying route lengths, and other dynamic conditions. SRTT is introduced to provide a more consistent and less jittery representation of the RTT.

In Transmission Control Protocol (TCP), RTT is a crucial metric.

Our implementation leverages eBPF to register to fentry eBPF hook for tcp_rcv_established() . We extract the SRTT (smooth round-trip time) value from TCP sockets, correlating it to existing flows and enriching them with RTT values in nanoseconds.

When a new NetObserv flow is created and the RTT feature is enabled, an initial RTT of 10usec is assigned. This initial value for RTT may be considered quite low.

Upon triggering the eBPF socket, the flow RTT value is updated to reflect the maximum RTT value for that specific flow. See Figure 1.

For more detailed explanation of smoothed RTT estimation, refer to Karn's algorithm paper .

tcp RTT calculation

Why use fentry eBPF hook?

The eBPF fentry programs have lower overhead as they trigger the hook before calling the kernel function of interest.

In our implementation:

  • Register and link fentry hook for kernel's tcp_rcv_established() SEC("fentry/tcp_rcv_established") int BPF_PROG(tcp_rcv_fentry, struct sock *sk, struct sk_buff *skb) { if (sk == NULL || skb == NULL) { return 0; } return calculate_flow_rtt_tcp(sk, skb); }

Reconstruct the NetObserv flow key, including incoming interface Layer2, Layer3, and Layer4 info.

Match existing flows in the PerCPU hashmap flow table and enrich them with SRTT info from TCP sockets. If multiple SRTT values exist for the same flow, we take the maximum value.

Currently, our approach calculates RTT only for the TCP packets so flows, which are non-TCP, do not show RTT information.

Potential use cases

Flow RTT captured from eBPF flow_monitor hookpoints can serve various purposes.

Network monitoring: Gain insights into TCP handshakes, helping network administrators identify unusual patterns, potential bottlenecks, or performance issues.

Troubleshooting: Debug TCP-related issues by tracking latency and identifying misconfigurations.

How to enable RTT

To enable this feature, we need to create a FlowCollector object with the following fields enabled in eBPF config section as below.

A quick tour of the UI

Once the FlowRTT feature is enabled, the RHOCP console plug-in automatically adapts to provide additional filter and show information across Netflow Traffic page views.

Open your RHOCP console and move to Administrator view -> Observe -> Network Traffic page as usual.

A new filter, Flow RTT is available in the common section. The FlowRTT filter will allow you to capture any flow that has an RTT more than a specific time in nanoseconds.

For production users, filtering on the TCP protocol, Ingress direction, and looking for FlowRTT values greater than 10,000,000 nanoseconds (10ms) can help identify TCP flows with high latency. This filtering approach allows users to focus on specific network flows that may be experiencing significant delays. By setting a threshold of 10ms , you can efficiently isolate and address potential latency issues in your TCP traffic.

New graphs are introduced in the Advanced options -> Manage panels popup (Figure 2).

advanced options

  • Top X average TCP handshake round-trip time with overall (donut or lines)
  • Bottom X minimum TCP handshake round-trip time with overall (donut or lines)
  • Top X maximum TCP handshake round-trip time with overall (donut or lines)
  • Top X 90th percentile TCP handshake round-trip time with overall (donut or lines)
  • Top X 99th percentile TCP handshake round-trip time with overall (donut or lines)

These two graphs (see Figure 3) can help you to identify the slowest TCP flows and their trends over time. Use the filters to drill down into specific pods, namespaces, or nodes.

RTT graphs

Traffic flows

The table view (Figure 4) shows the Flow RTT in both column and side panel.

RTT Table

Last but not least, the topology view displays min / max / avg / p90 / p99 RTT latency on edges. Clicking on a node or an edge will allow you to see per direction metrics and the related graph. See Figure 5.

Future improvements

Here is a non-exhaustive list of future improvements coming for a full featured round-trip time analysis:

  • Latest RTT in Topology view
  • Prometheus metrics and alerting

Kanye west's wife bianca censori in family pics before feud over wardrobe, bianca censori family pics show total harmony ... before feud with ye, exclusive 128 3/5/2024 1:00 am pt.

Bianca Censori has plenty of family drama now -- thanks to risque outfits and her husband -- but she and her kin were all smiles not so long ago during a family trip to Japan.

In the new photos, obtained by TMZ, Bianca beams as she poses for a series of selfies with her family -- including parents Leo and Alexandra , as well as sister Angelina ... a first for Kanye West 's wife since catapulting to A-list fame.

The family came together for this June 2023 outing at teamLab Planets, an immersive art museum in Tokyo. The trip abroad was reportedly the first time Kanye met his new in-laws -- more than 6 months after his nuptials to Bianca.

Clearly, these were happier times for Censori family members, who've since clashed with Ye over Bianca's racy outfits abroad. Just last week, it was reported that Bianca's dad wants to confront the "Gold Digger" rapper for parading Bianca around the world in barely-there clothing.

It all came to a head last week in Paris, where Bianca made the nearly-naked look her signature style, rocking her most revealing 'fits since marrying Kanye in December 2022.

Of course, she's now routinely donning tights as pants , forgoing traditional tops for sheer shirts and wearing countless nude-colored bodysuits .

As you can see in the family pics, the Censori clan was already getting a taste of Bianca's new style last summer. During the group trip. a platinum blonde Mrs. West wore body-hugging capri pants and a backless tan top that was struggling to fully cover her boobs.

Even back then, the contrast with her family's more traditional tourist attire was blatant.

The Censori clan were certainly fans of Ye last year -- Angelina even once called Bianca's marriage to the Grammy winner "very exciting."

It might take a similar family gathering -- and whole lot more material on Bianca -- to smooth things over between Ye and his in-laws.

  • Dragonflight flight paths are the most expensive and probably the easiest way to do this. For example, Wingrest Embassy, The Waking Shores to Azure Archives, Azure Span is about 9 gold per trip.
  • Requires sampling 5 of the Ruby Feast's foods. Every day, new foods can be sampled in Valdrakken at /way #2112 61.1 10.7. You can also purchase Ruby Feast food from Coulisa at /way #2112 60.6 16.0.
  • If you don't have the S.E.L.F.I.E. camera, talk to Arielle Snapflash in Stormwind or Vivica Starshot in Orgrimmar.
  • Emote /bow or /curtsey at 3 nobles in the Court of Stars.
  • Requires flipping the Hearthstone Board toy inside the Missing Hinge Inn in Azure Span. (/way #2024 18.7 24.4)
  • The toy can be purchased from Benjamin Brode in the Warlords of Draenor Level 3 Garrison. It costs 1000 gold.
  • Requires defeating Echo of Doragosa while wearing a Tuxedo shirt, jacket, and pants.
  • The Black Tuxedo Pants and White Tuxedo Shirt are Noblegarden items that can be bought and sold on the Auction House. Using the transmog of these items counts towards the task, but you still need to wear a jacket.
  • The Tuxedo Jacket , Tuxedo Pants , and Tuxedo Shirt are Classic Tailoring items that can be bought and sold on the Auction House. The pants and jacket are cloth items, so require a cloth user to transmog.
  • With follower dungeons, this task should be achievable on any character - even if it means having to equip the Tuxedo Jacket on a non-cloth wearer.
  • Infinitea - To obtain this tea, you want to borrow Melly's Metronographer+++ from Melly Teletone (requires completing an extremely short questline if you haven't before) and use it near Bartender Bob . This will spawn Bartender Blob who sells the tea. If you haven't yet, you can also use this tea to obtain a toy .
  • Slumbering Peacebloom Tea is made with cooking and can be bought and sold on the Auction House.

I don’t know why I look at this article every month, just playing I get it in a couple days without “focusing,” on anything in particular. And the ones they list aren’t even the easiest, like you said the pet battle is an example of super quick. How is leveling a class 10 times listed lol that’s easy but time consuming. Same with Chess, unless you’re already doing Kara weekly the time to get to chess isn’t worth it.

this one took me the longest, but I still got it done in one day. I don't like this month's color, or the mount, so I still have 540 left over. That 10 credit anniversary item is messing me up. I'll never be able to spend that 40 leftover credits.

I was just looking at the tasks they have written up this time, and I really had a good laugh with them. Because there are a total of 70 activities for this month. With 27 of them behind timed events. And this article described 28 activities. And they of course left out all the limited time activities. And for some reason all the pet battle and PvP ones, even tho there are quite some short and lucrative ones as well. So they just threw in 80% of the PvE, not time-limited activities from the Traveler's Log. Basically just... writing down most of the thing.

As a reminder: The White Tuxedo Shirt has been bugged since patch 9.0.2, which removed the appearance from players' collections and rendered the item unable to be transmogrified into / out of.  (It can still be equipped if you have the item in your bags, of course.) And for some reason all the pet battle and PvP ones, even tho there are quite some short and lucrative ones as well. Playing devil's advocate: PvP and pet battling are niche activities (the latter more so than the former, but still).  And I say this as a player who both strongly dislikes PvP and has a collection of 1,614 rare-quality battle pets at level 25. So it's about the more general and thus likelier to be done activities.

A commercial passenger flight bound for North Carolina was diverted to an island southeast of the Bahamas Wednesday after a woman on board suffered a medical emergency and died, police said.

The  Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force reported the commercial flight was heading to Charlotte when a 41-year-old woman fell ill.

American Airlines flight 2790 departed from Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic before it was diverted to Providenciales International Airport "for the medical needs of a passenger," a spokesperson for the airline said in a statement obtained by USA TODAY.

Just before 6:15 p.m., police said, officers received a call from Air Traffic Control Tower requesting medical assistance for the woman who, at the time, was receiving CPR.

Foreign tourist is gang-raped in India as violence against women persists

trip hat.com

NEW DELHI — Police in eastern India say they have arrested three men and are pursuing four others in the gang rape of a Brazilian tourist, a case that has drawn cries of fury and shame from those in Indian society who say sexual violence against women remains a stubbornly endemic problem.

The attack on the Brazilian travel blogger and her Spanish partner took place in a forest late Friday, as the couple were camping while traveling by motorbike across eastern India to Nepal.

Struggling to fight back tears and showing bruises on their faces, the couple said in an Instagram post Saturday morning that seven men held knives against their throats and took turns sexually assaulting the woman while beating and restraining her male partner.

5 years after the gang rape that shocked a nation, reporting assault in India is still ‘a nightmare’

Local police in Jharkhand state said in a news release that they had taken the victims to a nearby hospital and confirmed the outlines of their account. All seven men have been identified and a special investigation team has been set up to arrest the four still at large, police in the Dumka district said.

While cases of rape targeting Indian women from lower castes and Indigenous tribal communities are rife, and often receive little notice and aren’t prosecuted, this incident involving a foreigner — who went public on social media to her more than 200,000 followers — focused national attention to an unusual degree.

National newspapers covered the case, and women’s rights activists, politicians and even Bollywood celebrities weighed in on social media to condemn what they described as an intractable problem despite efforts at cultural and legal reform.

Karanjeet Kaur, a writer who published an op-ed Monday about her outrage over sexual violence against Indian women, said the case sparked so much discussion because the survivor stood out by sharing an experience all too common for Indian women.

“We have become so inured to violence against women that only when the contours of a case are very different does it make a dent in our conscience,” she said in a phone interview. “Otherwise our bodies, our minds, our autonomy does not matter at all.”

Viral video of a sexual assault in India sparks outrage and protest

In December 2012, thousands of Indians took to the streets to protest the gang rape and death of a 22-year-old student, a case that prompted the Indian government to expand the legal definition of rape and introduce the death penalty as a possible sentence for rapists.

When Prime Minister Narendra Modi first ran for the office in 2014, women’s safety featured prominently in his outreach to female voters, and nearly a decade later, his administration remains sensitive to any potential political blowback from controversies over crimes against women.

Yet violent crimes against women continue to rise , according to national statistics, and high-profile rape cases continue to surface with alarming regularity, largely as a result of what many say is a culture of downplaying sexual harassment and violence — and of giving impunity to the perpetrators — in a patriarchal society.

Last year, India’s Supreme Court criticized the Gujarat government, led by Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), for the early release of 11 men convicted of gang-raping a Muslim woman, Bilkis Bano, during riots in the state in 2002. Upon their release, the convicts had been garlanded with flowers by well-wishers and praised by a BJP lawmaker as good Brahmins, the highest Hindu caste. In January, the Supreme Court canceled their release and ordered them returned to custody .

India’s female wrestlers staged demonstrations starting in January last year against the chair of the wrestling federation, accusing him of repeatedly groping women over the previous decade. But the powerful BJP politician faced no consequences until a court ordered police to investigate the case in April 2023

India’s girl wrestlers watch in dismay as their heroes are crushed by police

The chief of India’s National Commission for Women, Rekha Sharma, was herself accused of downplaying sexual violence soon after the Brazilian blogger’s experience became public.

When an American journalist retweeted the couple’s account of their assault and told of experiences of his own, saying he had never witnessed so much sexual aggression as in India, Sharma took him to task for “defaming” India.

Phillip Danault hat trick lifts Kings to victory over slumping Devils

Kings center Phillip Danault celebrates with defenseman Matt Roy against the New Jersey Devils at Crypto.com Arena.

Phillip Danault had a hat trick, Kevin Fiala had a goal and two assists, and the Kings defeated the New Jersey Devils 5-1 on Sunday at Crypto.com Arena.

Alex Laferriere also scored, Cam Talbot made 30 saves, and the Kings won for the eighth time in 12 games under interim coach Jim Hiller .

“Obviously, we’re playing way better now,” Fiala said. “Had a two- or three-month slump or whatever, and we have been playing better after the All-Star break. ... We are playing for each other, we love each other, and you can really feel it right now.”

Nico Daws was replaced in the second period after giving up four goals in 13 shots for the Devils, who have lost five of seven. Timo Meier scored, and Akira Schmid made nine saves in relief.

“I don’t think it’s about effort, it’s more between the ears,” New Jersey forward Erik Haula said. “We keep kind of shooting ourselves in the foot, we keep making similar mistakes, and at this time of the year it’s gonna hurt you.”

VANCOUVER, CANADA - FEBRUARY 29: Kevin Fiala #22 of the Los Angeles Kings is congratulated.

Kings salvage road trip with victory over the Vancouver Canucks

Anze Kopitar and Trevor Moore both had a goal and an assist for the Kings in their victory over Vancouver.

March 1, 2024

Aside from an unexpected deflection off the stanchion to help give the Devils an early lead seconds into the game, the Kings delivered one of their most complete performances since Hiller replaced Todd McLellan on Feb. 2.

Danault tied it at 7:56 on a breakaway set up by Fiala’s alert stretch pass, which was the winger’s fourth assist during a three-game span.

Laferriere, who was born in Chatham, N.J., and grew up attending Devils games, fired in his ninth goal of the season with 5:11 left in the first to put Kings up 2-1.

“We talked from the start about getting back to our identity, and I think we’re pretty close right now,” Hiller said.

A longtime nemesis of the Kings during his time with the San José Sharks, Meier got his 15th goal in 31 career games against them 15 seconds into the game.

Quinton Byfield’s pass in his own zone took an awkward redirection right to Nico Hischier, leading to his fifth assist in three games for setting up Meier.

“We just took a breath, and from that point on we dominated the game,” Fiala said of the Kings’ response.

trip hat.com

The Kings kept up the pressure in the second period, with Danault scoring into an open net with 7:37 left and Fiala burying a power-play goal 34 seconds later to send Daws to the bench early.

“We got the start we wanted, came out and scored a goal,” Devils coach Lindy Ruff said. “You can do a lot of great things in the game, and then you can beat yourself. I thought we beat ourselves.”

Danault, who hadn’t scored at home in the first 27 games of the season, got an empty-netter with 2:13 remaining. It was Danault’s first hat trick for the Kings and second of his career.

“He has done so many good things the whole season, and he deserves it, and today was his day,” Fiala said.

It has been Fiala’s week, picking up three goals and five assists in the three games since leading scorer Adrian Kempe hurt his wrist against the Edmonton Oilers on Monday. But Fiala said his increased production has come from focusing on playing a complete game instead of pushing to generate more offense.

“I don’t try to chase the game, which maybe I did a little bit in the start of the year,” he said. “I just try to be calm, patient, and it will come.”

Up next for the Kings: vs. the Vancouver Canucks at Crypto.com Arena on Tuesday night.
