Buffalo Bills v New York Jets

The Buffalo Bills , under the direction of general manager Brandon Beane and head coach Sean McDermott, have well-utilized the pre-draft visit process to the benefit of roster construction.

Beane and company are bold and daring when it comes to the NFL Draft , as we saw in last year’s video showcasing behind-the-scenes prep work and the move up to select cornerback Kaiir Elam. Many of those who meet face-to-face with the Bills in the weeks ahead of the NFL Draft (whether via the NFL Scouting Combine , players’ pro days, or as part of Buffalo’s 30 visits allowed to One Bills Drive) — eventually find themselves selected by the team late in April.

College football tape can provide an adequate assessment of a player’s potential, but meetings with players in-person help to define the traits that don’t jump out on tape. It’s an important step in determining if a prospect will be the right fit for the team, personnel-wise and beyond.

With the NFL 2023 NFL Draft fast approaching, we’ll use this space as a way to keep track of all reported visits between the Bills and this year’s group of prospects.

Note: This should not be viewed as an exhaustive list. This is simply what has been reported/leaked to the media.

SEC Championship - LSU v Georgia

One of the best ways for an NFL team to get to know an NFL Draft prospect is to meet with him in person. That can take place at various events throughout the pre-draft process, from college All-Star games to the NFL Scouting Combine to a player’s Pro Day workout.

However, teams often still need more information after those events take place, which is why the NFL allows each team to bring in up to 30 players to their facility for private visits. The Green Bay Packers have started hosting these “Top-30” visits already, and there have been several confirmed attendees as of early April.

Historically, the Packers under general manager Ted Thompson would use these Top-30 visits on two categories of players: early picks who had major character concerns and day-three or UDFA prospects. The former group would come in to have red flags vetted in person, while the latter group would effectively receive a recruiting pitch to come sign with the Packers after the draft, if the team chose not to select them late on day three.

Current GM Brian Gutekunst has been much more willing to bring in potential early draft picks for visits, whether the player had red flags or not. Last season saw the Packers bring in four wide receivers who were drafted in rounds one or two, including their own top receiver pick, Christian Watson. Green Bay also hosted defensive lineman Devonte Wyatt, who became one of the team’s first-round picks,

Additionally, the Gutekunst Packers have frequently drafted players later in the draft who came in for a visit. In total, six members of the team’s 11-man 2022 draft class — more than half — came on official top-30 visits. In addition to Wyatt and Watson, the Packers also hosted fourth-round pick Romeo Doubs and seventh-rounders Tariq Carpenter, Rasheed Walker, and Samori Touré.

In other words, these meetings do matter for the Packers, both in the early and late stages of the NFL Draft. As a result, keep an eye on the names who show up on this list come draft time, as there is a good chance that several of them become Packers when the 2023 NFL Draft concludes on Saturday, April 29th.

Finally, teams may also meet with players via informal videoconferences instead, so it is possible that some of the players initially reported as having visits may not actually be Top-30 in-person visits.

Here is the current list of visitors, which we will update regularly as we approach the 2023 NFL Draft.

Reported Visits

  • Michael Mayer, TE, Notre Dame ( 24th-ranked player on the consensus draft board )

Western Kentucky v Auburn

We are just days away from the start of the 2023 NFL Draft which means the pre-draft process is completed. Part of that process is having a max of 30 prospects visit your facility and have a pre-draft visit with the team, coaches, and management. These visits are called the “Top-30” visits and the prospects who the Broncos had in have been mostly reported one way or another.

Here is a list of prospects the #Broncos have reportedly shown various levels of interest in throughout the draft process. https://t.co/Zp2ifzz5e2 — MileHighReport (@MileHighReport) April 4, 2023

They also had a number of Zoom meetings with prospects that I left off this list and will just focus on the ones they brought into their facilities.

Not all of these visits will be reported, and some prospects keep these visits secretive, but here are the 21 out of the max 30 pre-draft visits that the Broncos reportedly made. You can view all the prospects the Broncos reportedly have shown some level of interest in throughout the process here .

  • Michigan TE, Luke Schoonmaker
  • Syracuse RB, Sean Tucker
  • Central Michigan RB, Lew Nichols III
  • Syracuse CB/S, Garrett Williams
  • Tennessee EDGE, Byron Young
  • Jackson State CB/KR, Isaiah Bolden
  • Iowa CB/S, Riley Moss
  • Auburn RB, Tank Bigsby
  • Houston CB, Art Green
  • East Carolina RB, Keaton Mitchell
  • Pittsburgh S, Brandon Hill

First, a reminder or refresher on what exactly a top 30 visit is. Basically, each NFL team in the days and weeks before the start of the NFL draft is allowed to invite up to 30 different prospects to come in for what amounts to a job interview. From there, they will work them out, review their medicals, show them the facility, meet with coaches, and basically have a job interview. It is just another step in the long scouting process leading up to the NFL Draft.

Just because the Broncos brought these prospects in for a top 30, it does not guarantee that they will draft one of these prospects. It is just a part of the information-gathering process, but it does tell us a few things. The big thing it shows us is the positions they are focusing on during the draft process. While they may not be zeroing in on one of the prospects above, they are doing their homework on that positional group.

From the 21 prospects listed above, five were defensive backs, four were running backs, three were offensive linemen, two were linebackers, two were tight ends, one was a defensive lineman and edge rusher, and one was a Swiss army knife in Jack Colletto.

Defensive Backs

  • Syracuse CB Garrett Williams
  • Houston CB Art Green
  • Iowa CB/S Riley Moss
  • Jackson State CB Isaiah Bolden

All five of these defensive backs are day three options but all fill areas of need in the Broncos secondary. Garrett Williams is coming off an ACL injury, but when healthy, can be a pretty solid boundary corner that the Broncos currently need. Houston’s Art Green fits a simple mold for a cornerback. He is tall, long, athletic, and can run fast. He would give the Broncos an athletic developmental cornerback. Iowa’s Riley Moss may need to transition to safety, but he is an instinctive defensive back with good ball skills who could contribute right away for a defense. Jackson State’s Isaiah Bolden is more known as a return specialist, but he also has the size, length, athleticism, and speed you look for in a corner. Finally, we have Pittsburgh’s Brandon Hill who is a speedy safety who can cover a lot of ground and can play the center field of a defense.

I expect the Broncos to draft at least one cornerback in the draft while likely adding depth at safety in the draft or when signing undrafted free agents. I would list cornerback as the Broncos' greatest need entering the draft.

Running Back

Auburn’s Tank Bigsby is the most notable name from this list because he is expected to go sometime on day two of the NFL Draft. He is one of my favorite prospects for the Broncos and would give them an instant contributor in their backfield. Syracuse’s Sean Tucker just recently received a clean bill of health and is an explosive back who could add some big play ability to the Broncos backfield. Central Michigan’s Lew Nichols III is a productive back who could be a late-round steal for some teams. Rounding out the group is the explosive Keaton Mitchell. He may be a smaller back but he is fast with 4.3 speed and could be a third-down specialist for the Broncos.

I fully expect the Broncos to draft a running back, it is just a matter of who and when. I could see them spending one of their first picks on a back like Bigsby or waiting until day three to address the position. They need to add depth to the position, especially with the uncertainty surrounding Javonte Williams's knee.

Offensive Lineman

  • NC State IOL, Chandler Zavala
  • Arkansas State IOL, Jordan Rhodes

Northern Michigan’s Jake Witt is a highly athletic but inexperienced late-round project for teams but would give the Broncos something they have been lacking for years. NC State’s Chandler Zavala is the notable name of this group because he is expected to go sometime on day two of the draft. He is a highly athletic interior lineman who the Broncos could view as a potential center prospect for them. Rounding out this group is Arkansas State’s, Jordan Rhodes. He is a massive guard who is projected to be a late third-round option or potentially a priority-free agent. The Broncos desperately need some interior depth along their offensive line.

I would not be shocked to see the Broncos select Chandler Zavala on day two of the draft. He is a guard, but they could try to transition him to center and let him compete for the center job with Lloyd Cushenberry III. The other two are late-round depth/developmental options and I see the Broncos selecting at least one of these positions in the draft while also adding a good number as free agents.

Wide Receiver

If I included Zoom meetings, this list would be the biggest, but we only have two top 30 visits. Rashee Rice is a big play-making wide receiver who is expected to go on day two of the draft. He struggles with inconsistencies at times but could be a very good NFL wide receiver. David Durden is a small school wide receiver who has good size and speed to intrigue teams late in the draft.

There has been a lot of smoke and rumors around the Broncos' receivers and they have been doing a lot of work on these prospects throughout the draft process. I would be surprised if they selected one early unless they traded away a veteran but I would not be shocked if they added one late.

A position the Broncos have been doing a decent amount of work on throughout the draft process has been the tight end position. They selected Greg Dulcich in the third round last year, but that has not stopped them from looking at the group again this year. Oregon State’s Luke Musgrave is the most notable prospect the Broncos brought in because he is projected to go in the first or second round of the draft. He offers high-upside and likely be off the board well before the Broncos pick. Michigan’s Luke Schoonmaker is an older prospect but would give the Broncos a depth option who can block and be a weapon in the receiving game.

I would be surprised if the Broncos went tight end early, but we do not know how Head Coach Sean Payton feels about Greg Dulcich. This unit needs depth regardless and could see them adding to this group late in the draft.

The Broncos brought in a few athletic linebacker prospects in for a visit. Both are in that same third to fourth-round range and would give them a linebacker who moves well in space and has some coverage ability. Overshown is a tall and athletic linebacker who has sub-package potential right away for the Broncos. Mapu is either a big safety or coverage linebacker in the NFL and would give teams an explosive and long defender who is a physical tackler and solid in coverage

The Broncos did re-sign Alex Singleton but really do lack speed and explosiveness at that position. So I would not be surprised to see them add a speedy linebacker who has coverage ability

Interior Defensive Line

Riley is a massive lineman who is currently projected to go undrafted in the NFL Draft. He would add depth to the Broncos' defensive line and give them someone who could play either nose tackle or defensive end for them.

The Broncos did draft two interior defensive linemen last year but could still add to that position this year. They lack depth behind their starters and I could see them select a lineman earlier than some expect.

Young is a potential third or fourth-round option who comes with some pass-rush upside. He has good size and comes with some impressive speed and explosiveness off the edge, but may not offer a ton in the run game.

Edge rusher is a weird position for the Broncos. They are not lacking depth, but they do have more questions than answers at that position. So it would make sense to see them add some competition to that unit while hoping to find a consistent answer.

Jack Colletto

  • Oregon State QB/FB/LB/ST, Jack Colletto

Sean Payton is looking for his Taysom Hill and may have found it here with The Jackhammer, Jack Colletto. He is a do it all player who could be a red zone weapon for the Broncos if he develops into that. He is likely a very late-round or free-agent option for the Broncos if they do decide to go that route.

2023 Heisman Trophy Presentation

NFL Combine week is underway, which means many of the top college prospects have met or will soon be meeting with a host of teams, including the Seattle Seahawks . As always, just because a team interviews a player does not mean they will draft them, but they do serve as hints as to what lies ahead in April.

Last year, the Seahawks had formal combine visits with Mike Morris and Zach Charbonnet, both of whom were eventually drafted by the Seahawks. They later held top-30 visits with Devon Witherspoon, Jerrick Reed II, and Anthony Bradford, all eventual Seahawks selections.

This is a running tracker for all combine visits and interviews. Starting on Thursday we will have separate articles rounding up any notable new visits, while simultaneously updating this article.

Here’s the current list of confirmed or reported pre-draft Seahawks visits.

Tulane QB Michael Pratt

Tulane QB Michael Pratt had an informal meeting with #Seahawks , says he'd have great interest "learning the ropes" from Geno Smith. — Corbin K. Smith (@CorbinSmithNFL) March 1, 2024

A combine meeting is not the same as a top-30 visit. Those players are brought into the team facility for interviews and a physical, so there can be some overlap between meeting at the combine and meeting at VMAC, but this is just to clarify the differences. The top-30 tracker will come a few days after the combine is over.

Offensive lineman Taliese Fuaga #75 of the Oregon State Beavers smiles on the sidelines during the second half against the Arizona State Sun Devils at Sun Devil Stadium on November 19, 2022 in Tempe, Arizona. The Beavers beat the Sun Devils 31-7.

With free agency winding down, the NFL’s main focus in the upcoming weeks will be the 2024 NFL Draft beginning on April 25. Ahead of the big day are top 30 visits, where NFL teams are allowed to bring up to 30 players on individual visits to their facilities for a private meeting. In-house visits with local players do not count towards the total.

With only limited slots for visits, looking at a team’s list of top 30 visits is a great way to keep an eye on the prospects they are most interested in. However, teams can also use the visits to feign interest in players or simply to answer medical questions they have about certain prospects.

Regardless, pre-draft visits remain an essential part of the draft season each year. Follow along with this article to receive updates on every reported Steelers pre-draft visit. The latest entries will be at the top of the article.

Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl - Notre Dame v Oregon State

The Tennessee Titans will host Notre Dame offensive tackle prospect Joe Alt on a pre-draft visit in Nashville according to a tweet from Paul Kuharsky. Alt is expected to garner strong consideration from the Titans with the No. 7 overall selection.

Joe Alt, as one would expect, will be one of the #Titans ' 30 visits to Nashville. — Paul Kuharsky (@PaulKuharskyNFL) March 25, 2024

Kuharsky spoke with new Titans head coach Brian Callahan at the NFL’s annual owner meetings. General manager Ran Carthon is also in attendance. That’s presumably where news of Alt’s impending visit to Nashville surfaced.

Offensive tackle is currently the Titans’ No. 1 need entering the 2024 NFL Draft, which is approximately one month away. The Titans surprisingly haven’t addressed the position in free agency despite having needs at both left and right tackle. Carthon has instead focused on wide receiver (Calvin Ridley), cornerback (L’Jarius Sneed & Chido Awuzie), and center (Lloyd Cushenberry).

The Titans released Andre Dillard from his contract earlier this offseason. That means Jaelyn Duncan, Nicholas Petit-Frere, sometimes-guard Dillon Radunz, and swing depth signing Saahdiq Charles as the tackles on the roster. That is less than ideal.

Alt possesses the physical stature, strength, and movement skills necessary to develop into a franchise left tackle. Alt would be plug-and-play next to Peter Skoronski at left guard. Just imagine that All-Pro ceiling tandem working with new offensive line coach Bill Callahan.

Alt was a standout performer at the NFL Combine. The North Oaks, Minnesota native ran the 40 in a blazing-fast 5.07 seconds with an elite 1.74 10-yard split. Alt also leaped a 9-foot-4 broad jump.

Alt’s visit to Nashville brings him one step closer to being the Titans’ 2024 first-round pick.

2024 nfl draft: seahawks hosting ucla dl prospect for top-30 visit, share this article.

UCLA edge Laiatu Latu is one of the top defensive line prospects in this draft class and is projected to be a first or second-round pick. He’s not the only Bruin up front who’s generating interest ahead of the draft, though.

According to Justin Melo at the Draft Network, the Seahawks will host UCLA defensive lineman Grayson Murphy for a top-30 visit.

The Seattle Seahawks will host #UCLA DL Grayson Murphy on an in-person visit. Murphy recorded 10 sacks across two seasons at UCLA after previously playing at North Texas. Pro Day! 40: 4:52 SS: 4.33 VJ: 37" BJ: 10-5 @GraysonMurph_ on @TheDraftNetwork : https://t.co/IpkYU2pHnX — Justin M (@JustinM_NFL) March 24, 2024

Murphy (6-foot-3, 260 pounds) played his first two college seasons at North Texas, where he posted 11.5 sacks and 18.5 tackles for a loss in 19 games. Ahead of the 2022 season he transferred to UCLA. In 26 games with the Bruins he totaled another 10 sacks and 18 tackles for a loss.

According to PFF , for the 2023 season Murphy posted 21 quarterback hits, earning an 85.2 pass rush grade to go with a solid 74.7 grade in run defense. In addition to his pass rushing prowess, Murphy offers positional versatility, as he lined up practically everywhere but the A gap last year.

Here are the highlights.

Murphy is projected to be taken in the sixth round of the draft.

Eagles draft prospect tracker: UCLA’s Laiatu Latu schedules top-30 visit with Birds

Here’s an up to date look at the players the Birds have brought in or plan to bring in on official visits ahead of the 2024 NFL draft.

National edge Laiatu Latu of UCLA runs through drills during practice for the Senior Bowl. He'll visit the Eagles before the draft.

With the 2024 NFL draft still a month away — and the combine in the rearview — the Eagles will scout prospects either at their pro days or by bringing them to Philadelphia to visit their facilities.

The Birds, along with the other 31 teams in the NFL, are allotted 30 private meetings with draft prospects, but players who are local to the NFL teams don’t count toward those private meetings.

With three picks over the first two days of the draft, the Eagles are in position to continue adding to their roster after landing, among others, Bryce Huff, Saquon Barkley , and C.J. Gardner-Johnson in free agency.

Here’s a look at the reported top-30 visits for the Eagles so far ...

Laiatu Latu, edge rusher, UCLA

One of the best edge rushers in the NFL draft class, UCLA’s Laiatu Latu has scheduled a pre-draft visit with the Eagles, according to Geoff Mosher of Inside the Birds.

Possessing next-level hand work as a pass rusher, combined with his first-step quickness, Latu is one of the more skilled pass rushers coming from the college level over the last couple of seasons. With several moves in his tool box, from double hand swipes to cross chops, Latu is relentless getting after the quarterback, finishing with career highs in sacks (13) and tackles for loss (21.5) in 2023.

Latu initially began his career with the University of Washington, was forced to medically retire in 2021 because of a neck injury , but was cleared to return playing after transferring to UCLA in 2022. That’s one of the biggest concerns as it relates to his NFL future, and could be a determining factor if teams want to risk the first-round investment in him.

The 6-foot-5, 259-pound edge rusher can drop into coverage, although he is best served rushing the passer than anything else. Latu isn’t the strongest run defender, which would likely have him in a situational pass rusher role early in his career, but he would be an excellent compliment to what the Eagles have on the roster currently.

Went back to watch the tape of #UCLA EDGE Laiatu Latu and it looked even better in the A22 endzone view. Almost like he speeds up after the jumping double swipe for the sack. Also had a strip sack at the beginning of the game. Impacts the game in all facets. https://t.co/nouMpaoxyL pic.twitter.com/kHKmSxZ9so — Devin Jackson (@RealD_Jackson) October 23, 2023

Ainias Smith, WR, Texas A&M

The Eagles have scheduled a top-30 visit with versatile Texas A&M wide receiver Ainias Smith, according to Ryan Fowler of The Draft Network. Smith has his Pro Day Tuesday and Eagles receiver coach Aaron Moorehead was present for the workout.

In his five season with the Aggies, Smith has been used as a running back, slot receiver, and returner. Smith accounted for 25 total touchdowns (19 receiving, four rushing, two on punt returns), hauling in a career high in catches (53) and yards (795) in 2023. He may be small (5-foot-9, 190 pounds) but he makes impactful plays whenever the ball is in his hands. Smith averaged 15 yards per catch this season, with 355 of his 795 yards coming after the catch, according to Pro Football Focus.

At the NFL scouting combine, Smith told The Inquirer he has heard a couple of different positions teams envision him playing at the next level.

“A lot of teams have been talking to me about playing receiver, playing in the slot [but] they really want to know if I’m able to play on the outside,” Smith said on March 1. “I feel like this is a great opportunity for me to just go ahead and showcase myself in that position. And on top of that, a lot of teams have also been saying I can play a little bit of running back, probably like in third-down situations.”

Likely a Day 3 selection, Smith’s skill set will translate best as a slot receiver who can be utilized in multiple ways offensively, needing a creative play-caller to best maximize his abilities. Think of player usage like Deebo Samuel with the 49ers and Alvin Kamara with the Saints when imagining how Smith could be used in the Eagles receiver room.

Got' em. @ainias_smith 🥶 📺 ESPN pic.twitter.com/ns4X9ezqxZ — Texas A&M Football (@AggieFootball) October 28, 2023

Travis Glover, OT, Georgia State

The Eagles are continuing to do their work on offensive linemen, this time scheduling a visit with Georgia State tackle Travis Glover, according to Tony Pauline of Sportskeeda. Glover, who was a late add to the Senior Bowl roster after practices began, is a massive, physical linemen who has experience playing left tackle (36 starts), left guard (4 starts), and right tackle (17 starts) over 6 seasons with the Panthers.

His versatility along the offensive line is what stands out most, possessing patient hands in pass protection, and the ability to be a people mover as a run blocker , although his blocking footwork and tendency to overextend on blocks need to be corrected. In just two days of practice in Mobile, Ala., Glover impressed with how he attacked pass rushers with his hands and brought the fight to them, rather than catching the initial pass rush blows.

Glover will likely hear his named called on Day 3 of the draft, and has the upside to be the depth swing tackle the Eagles need after Jack Driscoll signed with the Dolphins in free agency. The Georgia State standout is a potential career backup but has tools worth developing to start down the line in a pinch.

Brenden Rice, WR, Southern California

The Eagles have scheduled a pre-draft visit with USC wide receiver Brenden Rice next month, according to Andrew DiCecco of Inside the Birds. Rice, the son of longtime 49ers and Hall of Fame receiver Jerry Rice, accumulated 84 catches, 1402 receiving yards, and 16 touchdowns (12 in 2023) over two seasons with the Trojans.

A big-bodied wideout (measured in at 6-foot-2, 208 pounds at NFL combine), Rice is a composed, snappy route runner who excels at finding space over the middle of the field and himself available on scramble drills. He knows how to use his size to shield defenders in tight areas, specifically thriving in the red zone against one-on-one coverage.

In a deep wide receiver class, Rice’s stock lies somewhere between the second and third rounds of the draft. While Rice can operate against off-man coverage and find holes in zone, he struggles consistently separating from defensive backs in press man coverage. His best fit in the Eagles offense — and overall — would be as a big slot receiver, who is reliable enough to move the chains on third downs and become an unstoppable force in the red zone. His skill set would compliment DeVonta Smith and A.J. Brown , while bringing more size to the room as well.

Edgerrin Cooper, LB, Texas A&M

The Eagles have scheduled their first top-30 visit with a linebacker, Texas A&M standout Edgerrin Cooper, according to Ryan Fowler of The Draft Network . The Birds also met with Cooper at the NFL combine, even sitting down to watch film with the staff and discussing his potential fit in the defense.

Measuring in at the combine at 6-foot-2, 230 pounds, the hybrid player is one of the best run-and-chase linebackers in the 2024 draft class. Boasting excellent range and the closing speed to operate space, Cooper’s speed to the football and reactionary instincts make him an easy prospect to like. He compiled 84 tackles (17 for loss), eight sacks, two pass breakups, and one forced fumble in his final season with the Aggies.

Cooper’s ability to drop into coverage and anticipate passes in throwing lanes make him an ideal fit as a weak-side linebacker alongside Nakobe Dean, who would shift to a more traditional middle linebacker role. Cooper’s NFL combine numbers — a 4.51-second 40-yard dash (with a 1.54 second 10-yard split), a 34.5-inch vertical, and a 9-foot, 10-inch broad jump — display the caliber of athlete he is. A projected top-50 selection, the Eagles may have to move up in the second round to select him, with a number of teams having a need at linebacker.

#TAMU LB Edgerrin Cooper has a lean frame but has excellent range and closing speed working in space. His speed to the football and reactionary instincts makes him easy to like. I think he’s a more natural fit as a SAM backer but wouldn’t mind him as a WILL either. pic.twitter.com/p1TRk6I7f1 — Devin Jackson (@RealD_Jackson) February 13, 2024

Michigan offensive lineman Zak Zinter will meet with the Eagles.

Zak Zinter, OL, Michigan

A four-year starter for Michigan’s dominant offensive line, right guard Zak Zinter will visit with the Eagles for a top-30 visit, according to Ryan Fowler of The Draft Network . A stout offensive linemen, listed at 6-foot-6, 332 pounds, Zinter is recovering from broken fibula and tibia injuries suffered in the regular-season finale against Ohio State and is unlikely to participate in athletic testing during the pre-draft process.

If you’re looking for an effective gap-running scheme blocker who anticipates pass rush stunts and has heavy hands in pass protection, Zinter checks those boxes. Excelling at pulling across the line of scrimmage to kick out defensive ends and linebackers, Zinter has plenty of starting experience, starting in 42 games at right guard while appearing in 45 total games.

Though he may not have the athleticism to block in space like other guards in this draft class, Zinter has a great anchor in pass protection and knows how to beat second- and third-level defenders to a spot downfield. His draft stock is probably closer to a fourth- or fifth-round pick, but if teams feel comfortable in his injury recovery, Zinter being selected as a late third-round pick isn’t out of the question. He would fit a potential need at right guard as Cam Jurgens slides over to center after Jason Kelce ’s retirement.

Cooper DeJean, DB, Iowa

Iowa’s Cooper DeJean will reportedly have a pre-draft visit with the Eagles, according to Chase Senior of Chat Sports. DeJean, a projected first-round pick, has yet to do any on-field testing as he recovers from broken fibula he suffered in November, but plans to work out in front of NFL teams prior to late April’s draft.

DeJean, a defensive back with the Hawkeyes as a two-year starter, is at his best driving on throws in front of him, with excellent ball skills and instincts to tout as well. Over the last two seasons, DeJean compiled seven interceptions (three returned for touchdowns), 20 passes defended, and 116 total tackles. His versatility to line up at multiple positions is well noted — he primarily played outside corner, but started three games in 2022 as Iowa’s nickel/safety hybrid player.

A former high school quarterback, DeJean also showcased his return ability in college, scoring a punt return touchdown in his final season with the Hawkeyes. DeJean would fit seamlessly in defensive coordinator Vic Fangio ’s scheme, which asks defensive backs to play multiple spots in the secondary. If his athletic testing checks out, DeJean would be a worthy selection as the Eagles first-round pick at No. 22 overall.

#Iowa DB Cooper DeJean does a nice job working through chaos as a trail defender against shallow routes. DeJean doesn’t get caught up in the natural picks that are set across the field. That type of awareness and cross field speed will translate at multiple positions in the NFL. pic.twitter.com/6jUXdwG4SU — Devin Jackson (@RealD_Jackson) February 25, 2024

» READ MORE: Five takeaways from the NFL combine: Xavier Worthy’s 40-yard dash record and Eagles prospects

Tyler Guyton, OT, Oklahoma

Oklahoma right tackle Tyler Guyton, who has a mentor in Eagles tackle Lane Johnson, told The Inquirer at the NFL combine that he has a pre-draft visit with the Eagles after his pro day. The Sooners’ pro day was held on Tuesday, March 12, so Guyton should be visiting with the Birds in the near future.

An early target we identified for the Eagles back in January , Guyton has outstanding balance and foot quickness and is an active hand fighter in pass protection who works to keep his hands inside the frame of edge rushers. Still growing as a run blocker, specifically working more cohesively on double teams and maintaining his position against opposing defensive linemen, Guyton has the potential to become an elite pass protector at the NFL level.

A candidate to be Johnson’s replacement when he retires, Guyton’s name has garnered plenty of buzz as a late first-round pick throughout the draft process, especially after a dominant display at the Senior Bowl. He has untapped potential and would be a great fit to develop as the right tackle of the future under Eagles offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland.

» READ MORE: Oklahoma’s Tyler Guyton has potential as mentor Lane Johnson’s heir apparent with the Eagles

Khristian Boyd, DL, Northern Iowa

An underrated defensive lineman who was a big NFL combine snub, Northern Iowa’s Khristian Boyd will reportedly have a pre-draft visit with the Eagles, according to Jake Rabadi of The Liberty Line . A top performer at the East-West Shrine Bowl in January, the 6-foot-2, 320-pound interior lineman has plenty of power in his lower half to get underneath the pads of offensive linemen. Boyd finished the 2023 season with 3½ sacks and a 16.1% pass rush win rate, according to Pro Football Focus.

Likely a Day 3 selection in the fifth or sixth rounds, Boyd has upside as a rotational defensive linemen, with a speciality as a pass rusher. His swim move from the interior, coupled with his powerful hands, was difficult to stop at the college level. He could provide defensive line depth behind Jalen Carter , Milton Williams, and Jordan Davis .

Northern Iowa DT Khristian Boyd — a surprise omission from last week’s NFL combine — has seven pre-draft visits lined up so far, including the #Lions and #Saints this week. Kansas State offensive lineman Cooper Beebe has already met with the Eagles.

Cooper Beebe, OL, Kansas State

One of the better run blocking interior offensive linemen in the draft, Kansas State’s Cooper Beebe visited the Eagles’ facility earlier this week, a source confirmed to The Inquirer. His Top 30 visit with the Birds was first reported by Ryan Fowler of The Draft Network.

A mauler in the run game, Beebe specifically excels climbing to the second and third levels of defenses on both zone and gap running schemes. Though he has relatively short arms (measured 31½ inches at the combine), Beebe is a refined pass protector who passes off stunts with ease, playing with a low center of gravity. Over a 51-game career with the Wildcats, Beebe made 48 starts: 27 at left guard over the last two seasons, 13 at left tackle in 2021, and eight at right tackle in 2020.

His performance at the combine, where he only ran the 40-yard dash in 5.03 seconds with a 1.75 10-yard split, may have answered the questions surrounding his athleticism. Beebe would be an excellent Day 2 selection who could compete for the right guard spot if drafted by the Birds.

» READ MORE: The NFL combine is a numbers game. These are the ones the Eagles seem to care about.

Brandon Coleman, OL, Texas Christian

TCU offensive lineman Brandon Coleman, who played both guard and tackle in his collegiate career, will have a pre-draft visit with the Eagles, he told The Inquirer at his NFL combine podium. Over the last three seasons, Coleman has made 34 total starts, with 22 coming at left tackle, 11 coming at left guard, and one coming at right guard, showing his positional versatility.

In 2023 alone, Coleman started seven games at left tackle and four at left guard. Popping athleticism, length, and power on his film, Coleman is a physical lineman who has his best tape at left tackle during TCU’s national championship run in 2022. His lack of foot quickness would be best served as an interior lineman. His grip strength, specifically in pass protection, would allow him to match the physical hand-fighting that happens in the interior of the trenches.

Coleman’s multi-positional versatility would make him an intriguing fit for the Eagles in the immediate short term, battling for the right guard spot, but also in the long term as a potential Lane Johnson replacement. His NFL combine testing, where he ran a 4.99-second 40-yard dash (with a 1.73 second 10-yard split), recorded a 32½-inch vertical and a 9-foot, 6-inch broad jump, and ran a 4.21-second 20-yard shuttle, has him with a Relative Athletic Score (RAS) of 9.98. He fits the mold of athletic linemen the Eagles typically draft, and should be available late in the third round.

#TCU OT/IOL Brandon Coleman has high level tape dating back to 2022, having excellent showing against players like Tyree Wilson, Will McDonald, Michigan’s edge rushers as well. While he’s being projected to play interior, I could see him being a swing tackle option as well. pic.twitter.com/M1N2550Gh0 — Devin Jackson (@RealD_Jackson) March 7, 2024

Christian Mahogany, OL, Boston College

Boston College’s Christian Mahogany, who played at a high level in his final season after missing the 2022 season with an injury, will have a pre-draft visit with the Eagles, he told The Inquirer at the NFL combine. A three-year starter with the Golden Eagles, Mahogany spent his first season as a starter in 2020 at left guard, but switched to right guard in 2021.

A physical offensive linemen who like to finish defensive linemen into the ground in the run game, Mahogany has good footwork in pass protection, heavy hands strikes to keep pass rushers at bay, and can anticipate interior pass rush stunts. Though his pad level his a little high and forces him to sometimes play over his toes, Mahogany has the quickness to recover in pass protection.

Likely a mid-round selection, Mahogany could be a candidate to compete for the right guard spot with Tyler Steen, the Eagles’ third-round pick in last year’s draft.

#BostonCollege IOL Christian Mahogany has some unbelievable tape against Florida State this season. Physical offensive linemen who is a finisher in the run game with pretty good feet in pass protection. Easy to see why the #Eagles are bringing him in for a top 30. pic.twitter.com/8buTJoOtqn — Devin Jackson (@RealD_Jackson) March 7, 2024

Packers to host top 30 pre-draft visit with Florida State CB Jarrian Jones

T he Green Bay Packers will host Florida State cornerback Jarrian Jones on an official top 30 visit ahead of the 2024 NFL draft, per Ryan Fowler of The Draft Network .

Teams are allowed to host up to 30 prospects on visits ahead of the draft. Packers Wire is tracking all the reported visits here .

Jones (6-0, 190) intercepted five passes, recorded 15 passes defensed and produced 84 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, 1.0 sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery over 44 games.

Jones was named Florida State's most improved defensive player in both 2022 and 2023. He was an All-ACC pick and the team's winner of the Bobby Bowden Leadership Award in 2023.

After giving up five touchdown passes in coverage in 2021, Jones became a lockdown defender over the last two seasons, allowing zero touchdown passes while intercepting four passes across 56 targets into his coverage in 2022 and 2023, per PFF. He earned an elite coverage grade and an elite man coverage grade during the 2023 season when he played almost 90 percent of his total snaps in the slot.

Jones registered a Relative Athletic Score of 9.87 out of 10.0. He produced elite jumps (39.5" vertical, 10-9 broad) and a 40-yard dash time of 4.38 seconds.

Jones is PFF's No. 98 player overall in the class, putting him in the late Day 2, early Day 3 range.

The Packers re-signed Keisean Nixon to play in the slot, but Jones could be an ideal player to develop there long-term.

Steelers Add Several Pre-Draft Visits

  • Author: Noah Strackbein

In this story:

Pittsburgh Steelers

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers are starting to ramp up their pre-draft Top 30 visits, bringing in a handful of players this week and continuing to add to that list as they move through free agency and Pro Days.

This week, the Steelers brought in Florida wide receiver Ricky Pearsall and Georgia State offensive tackle Travis Glover for pre-draft visits, and have a few more names in the building today as well.

According to Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Ray Fittipaldo, the Steelers are meeting with South Carolina wide receiver Xavier Legette and Oregon State offensive lineman Taliese Fuaga.

Despite plenty of conversation about the Steelers trading for a wide receiver, the team remains interested in scouting some of the top within the position from the NFL Draft class.

Legette finished his final season for the Gamecocks with 1,255 yards and seven touchdowns, and is considered a top wideout on Day 2 of the NFL Draft. Fuaga is a right tackle who's also expected to be a second-round pick.

To this point, the Steelers have scheduled visits with the above players, plus Florida State defensive tackle Braden Fiske, Washington running back Dillion Johnson, Western Kentucky wideout Malachi Corley, Missouri defensive tackle Darius Robinson and Northern Iowa defensive lineman Khristian Boyd.

2022 NFL Draft Visits Tracker

We will be tracking pre-draft meetings with prospects for teams ahead of the 2022 NFL Draft set to start on Thursday, April 28. Be sure to check back here throughout the offseason for updates to the 2022 NFL Draft Visits Tracker .

nfl pre draft visits

It’s not clear if there will be any restrictions on meetings or visits as there have been the past two years because of the pandemic. In the past, this is how things have traditionally worked.

NFL teams can speak with draft-eligible players at any of the major all-star games, pro days or the NFL Scouting Combine. Even if it’s not reported, teams do tend to speak to most of the players they view as draftable at these events. The NFL Scouting Combine is set to return starting March 1 after a hiatus in 2021.

At the Combine, teams can speak with any player, but are allocated 45 “formal” interviews, which is noteworthy given more than 300 prospects are invited to the Combine every year.

Teams can also host up to 30 players for interviews and medical evaluations at their own facilities, with players who live or go to college in the local area not counting toward those top 30.

Virtual meetings over Zoom have become a fixture the past two years and it would seem likely those would continue in some form.
