Where is Jaipur

Jaipur is the vibrant capital of Rajasthan , located in the heart of northern India , not far from the national capital, Delhi , renowned for its rich history and majestic architecture.

How Many Days in Jaipur

As a first-timer, to really see Jaipur’s main spots and enjoy what the city has to offer, plan for at least two to three days .

That way, you can visit the forts, palaces, and museums without rushing and still have time to wander through the markets and try some tasty local food.

If you’ve got a few extra days, you can even check out the nearby villages and attractions.

Best Time to Visit Jaipur

The best time to visit Jaipur is the winter season which lasts from October to February .

December and January are my favorite months to travel to Jaipur or any other city in Rajasthan because that’s when the weather is near perfect which makes it easier to explore the city.

January is a particularly desirable month to visit Jaipur because the month witnesses the famous festivals – the Jaipur Literature Festival and the International Kite Festival .

However, it’s also a time when the royal city sees the highest number of tourists, and thus, hotel and tour prices skyrocket so you must plan well in advance.

How to Get to Jaipur

Jaipur is well-connected to all the major Indian cities by air, road, and rail. Jaipur International Airport (Sanganer Airport) operates flights to and from almost all the cities in India and a few in the world.

The majority of foreign travelers choose New Delhi as their starting point for a trip to India and take a road trip to Jaipur.

The pink city is about 300 km from the capital city of Delhi and the entire journey takes a little over 5 hours to complete via NH48.

Jaipur Bus Stand (Sindhi Camp Bus Station) is an interstate bus terminal that provides bus service to cities located in other states in India.

The popular bus routes are from Delhi, Ahmedabad, Pushkar, Ajmer, Bharatpur, Udaipur, Agra, Mathura, Lucknow, and Gwalior .

Jaipur Junction is the main railway station in Jaipur. It runs trains to and from a good number of cities within Rajasthan and all across India.

Palace on Wheels starts in Delhi and takes you through all the tourist destinations in Rajasthan (Bharatpur, Chittaurgarh, Jaipur, Udaipur , Jaisalmer , Jodhpur , and Sawai Madhopur) along with Agra.

It is by far the most luxurious and easiest way to see the major sites of the Golden Triangle in the least amount of time.

How to Get Around Jaipur

Traveling within the pink city is not as difficult as it seems. The traffic, of course, is chaotic but with a handy public transportation network.

Jaipur City Transport Services Limited runs Jaipur Low Floor Buses that include AC as well as non-AC buses. With over 30 routes, It’s an easy and one of the most widely used means of transport in Jaipur.

Hiring a taxi is super convenient but a bit expensive. There are many local service providers that offer affordable taxi services.

Rajputana Tour and Travels , Jaipur City Cab , and Dream Cab Jaipur are some of the best. Ola and Uber are also available in Jaipur.

Also, auto-rickshaws or tuk-tuks are available everywhere. They are ideal for short distances.

Jaipur is teeming with lively places to explore and unique experiences, much like it teems with bustling crowds and vibrant energy.

You’ve got to see the colossal Amer Fort with its grand walls on the hills. Nearby, the geometric beauty of Panna Meena ka Kund awaits, a stepwell that’s as beautiful and historic as it can be.

For the best city views, head up to Nahargarh Fort . Jaigarh Fort is also a must for its mighty vibe. Take a peaceful break by the water at Jal Mahal .

Gawk at the Hawa Mahal , and of course, take endless photographs of the iconic honey-combed facade, and then check out the royal City Palace . Jantar Mantar is full of giant astro tools that are really old and cool.

The Albert Hall Museum shows off all sorts of neat stuff from Jaipur’s history. Gaitore ki Chhatriyan is where you find tombs of kings with amazing carvings. Jawahar Circle is a fun park to chill, and Patrika Gate is a rainbow walkway you’ve got to see.

If you’ve got a thing for colorful doors and windows , like me, Jaipur is your kind of city—It’s like wandering through a rainbow where every door and window pops with bright and happy shades.

For a little quiet, visit the Galta Temple or the beautiful gardens at Sissodia Rani ka Bagh . And for a taste of local fun, Chokhi Dhani’s got it all—food, dances, and more.

In the evening, catch the light and sound show at Amber Palace —it’s pretty awesome.

If you’re headed to Jaipur from Delhi, you’ll notice the difference immediately. Jaipur’s beautiful and historic architecture is enchanting; despite it being a large city, the city’s historic architecture gives it a refined quality.

Jaipur is a part of India’s Golden Triangle – New Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur – a popular travelers’ circuit for visitors looking to explore some of India’s most well-known destinations. While there is still so much beyond the Golden Triangle to explore in Rajasthan, its top-three status is well deserved.

Highlights of a trip to Jaipur include shopping in the city’s markets, exploring ornate palaces, staying overnight in a historic haveli, and exploring fortresses clinging perilously to the side of mountains. What is Jaipur Known For?

Known as the Pink City, Jaipur is famous for its beautiful and historic architecture, much of it painted the light-pink terracotta hue the city is known for. With impressive palaces like City Palace and Hawa Mahal, forts like Amer Fort and Nahargarh Fort, and countless temples, markets, and ornate city gates, the city is packed with beautiful attractions to fill your itinerary.

Jaipur is also known for its incredible shopping. With countless markets bursting at the seams with every kind of textile, trinket, and handicraft imaginable, you’ll need to buy an additional suitcase to take all of these beautiful treasures home with you.

Is Jaipur Worth Visiting?

Jaipur is definitely worth visiting! In fact, it should be a central part of your northern India itinerary. For many travelers, Jaipur is a favorite destination in India. With its beautiful architecture, an abundance of historical monuments, great food, and incredible shopping, it’s easy to see why Jaipur is such a hit with travelers.

When we traveled throughout Rajasthan for a month on our honeymoon, Jaipur was certainly a highlight for us. Though we enjoyed visiting so many different spots on our trip, we would have extended our stay in Jaipur if we could have, as we loved our stay at the historic Alsisar Haveli and its proximity to the best of the city.

Things To Do in Jaipur

Explore city palace.

One of India’s most impressive palaces, Jaipur’s City Palace is a beautiful labyrinth of gardens, courtyards, museums, staterooms, and more. Its impressive architecture, engaging exhibits, and historical importance make it one of the must-see attractions in Jaipur.

Admission to City Palace is divided into two tiers, so make sure you understand pricing before purchasing your ticket. Paying for the higher-priced ticket (4000 rupees, about 48 USD) allows you to access both the public and museum sections of the palace and the areas still occupied by Jaipur’s royal family.

The ticket price is steep, especially compared to the standard entrance (700 rupees, about 8.50 USD), but the royal residences are by far the most impressive of the palace, featuring brilliantly colored blue, white and red rooms dripping with ornate gold, gems, mirrored mosaics, and more .

Marvel at Hawa Mahal

Easily one of the most recognizable attractions in India, the impressive Hawa Mahal is a sight to be seen and one of the highlights of visiting the Pink City. Built in 1799 just on the edge of Jaipur’s City Palace, Hawa Mahal features nearly 1000 windows in its facade. More than just for beauty, these windows were used by the women of the palace to peak out towards the city while abiding by the strict modesty codes of the time.

Visitors can enjoy exploring the entire palace, though many simply marvel at the facade from the street below (or from the terrace of Wind View Cafe, directly facing the facade). If you’re “palaced out” after visiting the interior of City Palace, taking in the facade facing the street is fine ; it’s by far the most impressive part of the palace.

Visit Jaipur’s Forts

Rajasthan is littered with imposing fortresses, and Jaipur is no different. Home to three unique fortresses around the city, Jaipur offers visitors their pick of fortresses to visit , each offering unique vistas and experiences.

The impressive Amer Fort (also known as Amber Fort or Amber Palace), with walls hugging the hillside and countless palace rooms, courtyards, and chambers to explore is by far Jaipur’s most impressive fort. In fact, after the Taj Mahal, Amer Fort is the second most visited destination in India.

It’s with good reason. While you could lose yourself in the palace’s countless chambers and halls, highlights include Diwan-e-Aam (or, the Hall of Public Audience) with its impressive columns and the mosaic Ganesh Pol leading to the Sheesh Mahal mirrored palace , the King’s private residences.

You’ll find elephants donned in colorful fabrics and body paint waiting to carry visitors from the entrance of the fortress walls to the palace entrance, making for an impressive site whether you take a ride or not. Don’t let the elephants fool you; the walk up the gently-sloping path to the palace gates is quite easy, even in the afternoon sun.

Nahargarh Fort

Built in 1734 as a summer retreat for the Maharaja it’s no wonder that Nahargarh Fort boasts some of the most spectacular architecture in Jaipur. Though the focus on Amer Fort left some spaces within Nahargarh Fort in disrepair, recent renovations have brought historic salons, courtyards, and incredible frescos back to life.

Nahargarh Fort also offers something Amer Fort lacks – impressive views over Jaipur, perhaps one of the most memorable features of the entire complex. Try to plan your visit for the late afternoon, as the western walls of the fort offer one of the most memorable spots for taking in the sunset anywhere in the city.

Jaigarh Fort

Though connected to Amer Fort via an underground passage, Jaigarh Fort is Jaipur’s least-visited fort though with plenty to offer for visitors that make it. While Jaigarh Fort lacks much of Amer Fort’s splendor – it’s much more a true fort than a palace – its impressive fortifications make for a memorable visit , with great views of Amer Fort and the lake below.

Shop in Jaipur’s Markets

Jaipur is a shopper’s paradise for Indians and foreign visitors alike. With dozens of unique markets selling everything from home goods and shoes to textiles and trinkets , it’s hard to spend a day exploring Jaipur without coming home with a few special keepsakes.

Most of Jaipur’s best markets are within close walking distance of Old City attractions like Hawa Mahal and the City Palace , making it quite easy to spend an afternoon shopping and exploring after taking in the city’s sites. These are some of the markets you can’t miss.

Bapu Bazaar

With its beautiful pink facades and amazing array of shops offering everything under the sun, Bapu Bazaar is our top recommendation for markets in Jaipur , especially if you have time to visit just one.

While you’ll find a mix of products in Bapu Bazaar, it’s most famous for its textiles like sarees, an array of unique prints and patterns, quilts, and even traditional wedding clothes. Brides come from near and far to purchase their wedding attire here – you’ll see entire families crammed into shops in preparation for the big day.

Johari Bazaar

Opposite Hawa Mahal Road from Bapu Bazaar, Johari Bazaar is another must-visit, with similar beautiful architecture and impressive options you’ll find across the street. Johari Bazaar is best known for its incredible jewelry shops, offering everything from costume jewelry to fine gold, silver, and gems.

Tripolia Bazaar

While you’ll have no difficulty finding bangles anywhere you look in Jaipur, you’ll find the best selection of bangles in Tripolia Bazaar. One of the oldest markets in the city, you’ll love exploring its narrow alleys and endless shopfronts.

See Jaipur’s Stepwells

Stepwells – large, deep wells or ponds used for collecting drinking water – are important feats of in from India’s past and popular destinations for visitors today. These enchanting geometric spots with their terraces of steps can be found all around India, though Jaipur has a number of particularly beautiful and remarkable stepwells.

Just north of Amer Fort is the Amer Stepwell. Also known as Panna Meena Ka Kund, it is about a 10-minute walk from Amer Fort, and is perhaps the most visited of Jaipur’s stepwells. While not an extremely large or deep stepwell, it’s impressive nonetheless , with beautiful mountain vistas and ornate buildings surrounding it.

Alternatively, head about an hour and a half outside of Jaipur to visit Chand Baori. This incredible stepwell extends nearly 100 feet (30 meters) into the ground , making it one of the deepest stepwells in India, and certainly one of the most impressive.

Visit the Monkey Temple

Looking for a unique half-day excursion from Jaipur? How about a visit to a temple populated by hundreds of monkeys?

While you’ll see monkeys no matter where you visit in Rajasthan, Jaipur’s famous “Monkey Temple,” actually a Hindu temple known as Galta Ji, is home to a huge colony of monkeys, making it an easy place to spot them playing, eating, lounging – you name it. Just 10 km outside of Jaipur, a visit to the Monkey Temple is a fun, quick trip. The temples at the site are beautiful, as are the views of Jaipur in the distance.

Just make sure you don’t feed the monkeys and keep your distance. They’re used to visitors but might mob you if they think you have food!

Where To Stay in Jaipur

One of the most beloved hostels in Jaipur, Zostel Jaipur is located in the middle of the Old City, less than a five-minute walk from attractions like City Palace and Hawa Mahal. For a backpacker looking to explore Jaipur on a budget, you can’t get any better than that. Steps away you’ll find some of the city’s biggest markets, a great place for delicious street food.

Zostel Jaipur ‘s rooms are basic but comfortable, including big lockers for personal belongings and clean bathrooms. You’ll love the shared kitchen access and common spaces filled with books, instruments, board games, and space to connect with fellow travelers.

Bloom Boutique – Chelon Haveli ($ – $$)

Less than a 5-minute walk from Jaipur’s favorite attractions like City Palace , Hawa Mahal, and Jantar Mantar,  Bloom Boutique – Chelon Haveli  offers the best of the Old City at your fingertips.

After a recent renovation, the historic Chelon Haveli building offers a mix of modern and historic, perfectly comfortable, and  one of the best options in the city for travelers looking for a budget-friendly and convenient stay in the heart of charming Jaipur .

Alsisar Haveli ($$)

One of the best historic haveli hotels in Jaipur is  Alsisar Haveli  a 19th-century historic palace with terraces and balconies for morning coffee, relaxing gardens, and ornate interiors ready to wow you.  The rooms are beautifully decorated and expansive – we stayed at Alsisar Haveli during our honeymoon for several days and had a wonderful time here!

Located just a bit outside the center of the Old City,  Alsisar Haveli  is just a short tuk-tuk ride away from the action, yet close to restaurants, shops, and plenty to see and do.  Highly recommended!

The Oberoi Rajvilas ($$$)

If you’re looking for a lush and luxurious oasis from the hustle and bustle of Jaipur, look no further than  The Oberoi Rajvilas Jaipur . Looking for the best street food in Jaipur without getting lost in the markets? Visit Masala Chowk in the heart of the Old City. This plaza features an array of street food vendors, surrounding a large area with tables with umbrellas where you can enjoy your food – it’s the best spot in Jaipur to enjoy some of India’s classic dishes.

The vendor Shankar Samosa is famous, though you can’t go wrong with any of the 25+ vendors you’ll find at Masala Chowk.

The Rajput Room

If you’re looking for the royal treatment in Jaipur, look no further than The Rajput Room at the Rambagh Palace , one of Jaipur’s finest hotels and the former estate of the Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II. Choose from delicious Indian cuisine or international dishes while enjoying the beautiful and historic dining room fit for a king.

Getting To Jaipur

As the capital and the largest city in the state of Rajasthan, Jaipur is well connected to the rest of the region – and country – by various forms of transportation. Jaipur has an airport (Jaipur International Airport) about 12 km outside of the city , which is well-served by frequent domestic and international flights.

You’ll also find frequent bus and train services to Jaipur from across the country. While nicer trains can be a bit more expensive than buses, both are popular and inexpensive options, and you’ll find plenty of times convenient to you if you’re traveling to any other Rajasthan destinations like New Delhi, Agra, Jodhpur, Jaiselmer, or Udaipur.

Time spent traveling on trains can vary by train route and company, though r eaching Jaipur from either New Delhi or Agra by car or bus takes around 5 or 5 ½ hours.

Of course, you can always hire a car or arrange a private driver ahead of time with your hotel. From Jaipur to New Delhi or Agra, expect to pay around $35 for a private driver , which is not too bad, especially if you’re traveling with friends or family.

As magical as Jaipur may seem when you’re ogling the pink palace, there are also parts of Jaipur that are far from picturesque. Choosing where to stay on your Jaipur trip is very important!

Bani Park is the best place to stay in Jaipur. It’s a tranquil and safe residential area that is within easy proximity to the sights on your Jaipur itinerary! It’s close to the train station and rickshaw drivers are always close by to get you around Jaipur.

There are numerous accommodation options ranging from budget to all-out luxury! Bani Park is actually the center of the haveli accommodation industry. Havelis are traditional Indian mansions that are built around a courtyard and you’ll find plenty of these charming hotels in Bani Park!

C Scheme is another good option to base your itinerary for Jaipur. It has fewer accommodation options than Bani Park but it is within walking distance of the major Jaipur attractions, such as the City Palace.

If you prefer to be right in the heart of things while on your Jaipur visit, consider Mirza Ismail Road (also known as MI Road). This colossal road cuts through the entire city, meaning it has ideal access to transport! The area has various accommodation options to suit all budgets and is ideal for those interested in shopping and local cuisine.

With endless landscaped gardens, four-poster beds and on-call butlers, you could be forgiven for thinking you’re royalty at the Taj Rambagh Palace! After all, the hotel is a palace that was once the home of the Maharajah of Jaipur! The staff at this 5-star hotel is both discrete and efficient, and everything from cocktails to afternoon tea is on offer!

Day 1 of our Jaipur Itinerary takes in the historical pink city. Prepare to be amazed by the ancient palaces and swept up Jaipur’s manic energy. Wear comfortable shoes and light, loose clothing as there will be a bit of walking involved. You can get between the various attractions by Tuk Tuk which can easily be hailed from the street -just remember to barter hard on the price!

10.00 am – Chandra Mahal

Although it’s technically a part of City Palace, Chandra Mahal has its own entrance fee and a famed reputation in its own right! It’s a seven-story building but only the ground floor can be visited by tourists.

The royal collection on display at the museum is just spectacular, with everything from priceless manuscripts to rare carpets on display! Although it’s a bit pricey, most visitors agree that it’s worth it.

• How long should I stay here?  1 hour
• Getting there –  Take a Tuk Tuk or cab

11:30 am- City Palace

Built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, Jaipur City Palace is a fusion of Mughal and Rajput architecture. The enormous complex took up one-seventh of old Jaipur so there’s plenty to see.

The Mubarak Mahal is one of the great highlights of the palace. It was constructed as a reception hall in the 19th century and today, it’s the palace museum. There are some truly envy-provoking clothes worn by the royal family on display!

In the Diwan-I-Khas, an audience chamber, you’ll find two silver vessels which hold the Guinness World Book of Records for the largest silver vessels in the world. They were used to carry water from the Ganges for Sawaii Madho Singh II who wanted to only drink the holy water while on tour in England!

If you can afford to splash out on just one thing, it should be a guided tour of the City Palace. The palace is just gigantic and has so many stories that only an insider can tell! If you don’t have a guide, try the audio guide which costs $3 USD.

• Getting there  –  It’s adjacent to Chandra Mahal so use those feet!

1.00 pm – Street Food

If you are backpacking India on a budget then you will probably be living on street food. Indian street food is world-famous and if it’s your first time in Jaipur you have to try it! The offerings are varied are ubiquitous, the flavors tantalizing and best of all it is super cheap! Pakora’s (fried balls of spicy stuff) can readily be picked up from $0.10. You can find street food pretty much anywhere and the streets around City Palace and Chandra Mahal have a few stalls or kiosks operating.

Some western stomachs can be a bit sensitive to spices and ghee and but you don’t have too much to worry about in terms of hygiene. Just pick somewhere that looks popular and eat only food that is hot and fresh.

2.00 pm – Jantar Mantar

Jantar Mantar was constructed by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II who was fascinated with the mysteries of the skies. It continues to be a working astronomical observatory that fascinates tourists on vacation in Jaipur!

Vrihat Samrat Yantra, the huge sundial, is the crown jewel of Jantar Mantar. At 27m, it’s the tallest sundial in the world.

Jaya Prakash Yantra is another stellar highlight of our Jaipur itinerary. When the inverted image of the sky falls on the marble slabs, casting a shadow, it’s possible to determine the positions of various stars and planets!

Other fascinating instruments include Digamsa and Karnti Vritya which measure times for sunrise and sunset, and the solar sign of the sun, respectively.

Make sure that you get here around midday when the sun is overhead. This means you’ll be able to see how readings are taken from the various instruments much more easily than at other times!

3.30 pm – Hawa Mahal

The next of our places to visit Jaipur in 3 days is Hawa Mahal, the gorgeous “Palace of the Wind” and one of the classic Jaipur landmarks. It was built as an extension to City Palace in 1799 to allow royal ladies to watch street parades without being seen by the wider public.

The architecture of Hawa Mahal is just sublime. Admiring the facade, which is shaped a bit like a honeycomb, you can take in all 953 windows!

Some say that the shape was inspired by Lord Krishna’s crown.  When the royal ladies would watch street activities, they’d have the windows slightly open to let in a breeze, giving rise to the name “Palace of the Wind”.

Hawa Mahal is also reputedly the world’s tallest building without a foundation. If you notice a slight curve in the structure, that was a mechanism to compensate for the lack of a foundation!

• How long should I stay here?  2 hours
• Getting there  –  It’s a 9 minute walk from the last stop. Ask for “Hawa Mahal”.

I do hope you saved some energy yesterday as Day 2 of our Jaipur Itinerary is equally as action-packed! Today we take in some colonial-era architectural gems, a few lovely museums, and finish with sunset up at the monkey temple; my personal favorite spot in Jaipur.

10:00 am – Albert Hall Museum

When the building first started on Albert Hall, no one had any idea of what purpose the structure would serve! Fortunately, Maharaja Sawai Madho Singh II approved an idea to create a museum in the space that would showcase the talents of local artists.

Albert Hall’s architecture is something of an attraction in itself. The Indian-Saracenic style incorporates features from various Indian architectural styles.

The museum walls are covered in murals depicting daily life in various other great empires, like Babylon and Egypt. This allowed citizens to compare their lives with others and develop their knowledge.

The 16 galleries inside the museum range from armor to miniature paintings. There are some fascinating coins that date back to before the 11th century! You’re also able to admire royal jewellery, intricate woodwork, and ivory statues.

• How long should I stay here?  60 – 90 minutes
• Getting there –  Take a Tuk Tuk or cab

11.30 am – Amrapali Museum

No, it’s not just another museum on the Jaipur itinerary; this is the Amrapali Museum and, trust us, it’s awesome! It has arguably the most state-of-the-art facilities to showcase hand-picked items from around India, and it’s just stunning.

Amrapali Museum was founded by two friends who went on an epic trip around India, sourcing unique items from various Indian tribes. The love and thought that went into this venture are so palpable in the museum that it’d be a shame to miss it when you travel to Jaipur!

The bulk of the museum’s collection is jewelry and expensive personal items. While you can easily give yourself free rein to explore the museum, there are a number of absolute must-see items on show!

One of the more unusual collections is that of  mukhnaals . These gilded objects were used by Indian kings as mouthpieces for hookahs. The eclectic designs range from fish to elephants!

Another insight into lavish royal life comes with the pair of  mojris  from around the 19th century. These shoes are made of solid gold and silver, encrusted with rubies and emeralds, and would have been worn for ceremonial occasions!

You may not be able to afford the real thing but upstairs there are some pretty good replicas for sale!

• Getting there  –  It’s a 5 – 10 minute ride by Tuk Tuk or cab

1.00 pm – Lunch at Old Green Tandoori

Today we’re having lunch at what is something of a Jaipur institution. Green Tandoori situated just opposite Chamelli market is a hub for foreigners re-fueling after browsing the markets and professional stone buyers. They do classic Indian dishes and amazing tandoori’s at bargain prices.

I recommend the Paneer Tikka Tandoori (cheese roasted in spices) chased down by a lassi – a typical Indian milk-based drink. Or, if you are very hungry take a Thali (mixed tray).

The Green Tandoori makes it very easy to access the next options in our itinerary.

• Cost  – $3 will properly fill you up
• Getting there  –  It’s a 9-minute walk or you can grab a Tuk Tuk for about 50rps

2.00 pm – Bazaar shopping

From turbans to musical instruments, Jaipur’s bazaars have anything and everything you can imagine on sale! Even if you’re not buying, just taking the vibrant atmosphere in will be a highlight of your Jaipur itinerary!

There are different markets and bazaars scattered across Jaipur each one specializing in something different from textiles, to stones to metal to random bits of crap!

Sireh Deori Bazaar is probably the most famous place to shop while touring Jaipur. It’s just opposite the Hawa Mahal and has a variety of goods, ideal for window shoppers who want to get an idea of what’s on offer! You’ll also find the best camel leather products here.

For a bit of Maharaja bling, head to Johari Bazaar. It’s a bit like an Aladdin’s cave, with heaps of precious stones and glittering metals. Handmade necklaces and any jewelry set with precious stones are the perfect souvenirs to remember your vacation in Jaipur many years after!

You’ll find carpets, dyed fabrics, and brassware at Tripolia Bazaar. There are also rows and rows of the colorful lac bangles that are so iconically worn by Indian women!

Finally, head to Chandpole Bazaar. It continues its long history of selling sculptures made from marble, wood or stone. The marble carvings are particularly gorgeous!

• How long should I stay here?  90 minutes +!
• Getting there –   Depends on which bazaar you want. Either walk or grab a Tuk Tuk

5.00 pm- Monkey Temple

The Monkey Temple, or Galta Ji Temple, is a temple dedicated to Hanuman, the Hindu monkey god.  Aside from being popular with tourists, the temple complex is still a sacred pilgrimage site for Hindu devotees

There are actually a series of temples to explore here and taking them all on will take you a few hours. It is a must-see in Jaipur in 3 days.

Take a Tuk Tuk to the bottom of the hill. Your driver will wait around if you pay him for his time and this may be the easiest and safest opinion.

Then you walk up the temple and make your way up the winding pathways to the summit. The monkeys are absolutely everywhere, watch your valuables and do not get too close to them as they can become aggressive.

The view from the top is great and it is a great spot from where to take in the sun-set. Bring a torch as making your way down after dark can be a bit tricky.

• Getting there  – Hire a Tuk Tuk or cab and ask the driver to wait for you

7.00 pm – Dinner at Arya Niwaz

Arya Niwaz is an (expensive) Jaipur hotel that has an excellent, well-priced restaurant that is open to the public. It offers some of the best traditional vegetarian food in Jaipur and the menu format allows you to try multiple options. I recommend the Bindi (Okra) and Aubergine dishes. The salads are also decent and are washed in mineral water.

They don’t allow alcohol to be consumed on the premises but if you sit in the garden nobody is exactly watching you…

• Cost  – $3 – $5 for a feast
• Getting there –   Grab a Tuk Tuk. It’s a 10-15 minute ride in evening traffic

Zostel Jaipur

You may have 3 days in Jaipur, but there’s no need to search high and low wondering what to do in Jaipur next! Our incredible 3-day itinerary in Jaipur rounds up the final Jaipur attractions that will stoke your curiosity and steal your breath. Be sure to bring your best travel camera to record these precious moments!

07:30 am – Amer Fort

The best way to get here is to hire a Tuk Tuk for half day. He will drive you here, wait for you, can then stop by the Jal Mahal on the return leg and drop you either at your hotel or at our lunch spot.

The Fort itself is big with a number of different sections, It does get busy most days so get here EARLY. A guided tour is a good way to make the most of the fort.

Note that Tuk Tuk drivers will offer to take you textile stops on the way back from Amer Fort. If you are in the market for some, then do consider this but be mindful that they take you to their friends/cousins shop rather than the one that has the best wares. Personally I got an awesome shirt made via this method.

• How long should I stay here?
• Getting there –   It’s an hours drive from the centre of Jaipur. Hire a driver for half a day.

12.00 pm – Anokhi Museum of Hand Block Printing

Block printing is a proper Rajasthani tradition and some of the best block print work in the whole world is still done in Jaipur. If you are visiting Jaipur for the first time then you will certainly notice the blocks and fabrics on sale around you.

The Anokhi Museum is the stunning result of a true labor of love. It was founded by an Indian family and remains a privately-owned, small organization.

Anokhi is dedicated to preserving and promoting the threatened local hand block printing industry, and we think it’s doing a fabulous job.

There’s a small collection of historical textiles that help document the  evolution of hand block printing  in India. The focus, however, is on contemporary hand block printing from the 1960s to the present day.

There’s a rich permanent collection of clothing, raw fabrics and home furnishings that showcases the many varied patterns that these artisans have created in the last 60 years! This is accompanied by a photographic collection and items from the production process.

Learning about the different kinds of dyes (from natural to chemical processes) and tools (including brass and wooden blocks, as well as carving tools) is really an interesting experience to add to your Jaipur itinerary! The Anokhi Museum also hosts various temporary exhibitions. These might explore unique kinds of bedding from a small village or the use of traditional techniques in more contemporary styles of clothing. Don’t miss out!

• Getting there  –  Its en route back from Amer Fort

1.00 pm – Jal Mahal

Rising out of a body of glimmering water, Jal Mahal, or the Water Palace, has to be one of the most serene Jaipur points of interest! It was constructed at the end of the 18th century as a hunting lodge and was later renovated into the elegant palace we see today.

You can stop off here on the way back from Amer Fort and get your photo ops. Now, the Jal Mahal is also particularly beautiful at sunset but unfortunately, the sun doesn’t usually set at midday. Sorry about that bt this itinerary has to run on a schedule!

You’re probably wondering how a palace just “floats” on a lake and that’s a valid question! Firstly, you only see one level of the palace from above ground; below the water are a further four stories! When the palace was built, it wasn’t surrounded by a lake as the area was experiencing a severe drought.

To preserve the palace when the drought passed, the palace’s pink sandstone walls were coated in special lime mortar to prevent water seeping into the monument. Note that access to the Palace is by special request and private tour only.

• Getting there  –   It’s a 12 minute ride from the block museum

2.30 pm – Late Lunch at Anokhi

Anokhi is one of my favorite lunch spots in Jaipur. Located near Haveli & Sanjay Marg and set in a peaceful garden environment, they specialize in creating and serving up delicious, healthy, modern fusion foods. Dishes here include semolina pasta and vegetarian sushi. They also have a mega selection of tea, do great coffee, and filling cakes!

Prices are high for Jaipuri standards but don’t trouble most westerner budgets to be honest.

• Cost – $10 per person
• Getting there  –  Have your driver drop you here

4.00 pm – Gem Palace

Keeping with the theme of Jaipuri industries next up is a trip to the cities leading gem emporium (or gemporium…)

A veritable treasure trove, the Gem Palace is one of the best places to visit in Jaipur in 3 days! It’s home to both antique and modern jewelry that’s been in hot demand since the mid-19th century. If you’re shopping, be prepared to fork out your money but rest assured that the quality is unbeatable.

The store is owned by the Kasliwal family who first gained fame as court jewelers to the maharajas of India. The skilled jewelers and gem cutters passed their skills down to the present generation who have also brought in Western influences.

5.30 pm – Nahargarh Fort

Nahargarh Fort’s walls are visible from many parts of Jaipur so it would be rude not to visit.

The story goes that while the fort was being built, strange things started happening. Each day the workers would come to work to find the previous day’s work destroyed.

The ruling Maharaja investigated and found that the land was haunted by the spirit of a tiger! To placate the tiger, a shrine to it was built and the fort was named after him: Nahargarh, meaning “abode of the tiger”!

Before you get lost in the wonders of  Nahargarh Fort itself , appreciate the fantastic views of Jaipur and the countryside that the hilltop location affords!

The fort was constructed in 1734 and you can still see the original 1km-long walls. Many of the other original structures have been destroyed. The highlight of the fort is the palace which dates from the late 19th century when it was used by Madho Singh II to keep his favorite concubines away from the disapproval of his officials and wives!

This is a very popular spot for Bollywood, music video & Instagram shoots. I’m not sure the Tiger spirit would approve.

Stash your cash safely with this money belt. It will keep your valuables safely concealed, no matter where you go.

It looks exactly like a normal belt  except for a SECRET interior pocket perfectly designed to hide a wad of cash, a passport photocopy or anything else you may wish to hide. Never get caught with your pants down again! (Unless you want to…)

When deciding when to visit Jaipur, the weather is the most important factor to keep in mind. Summers are incredibly hot, with temperatures reaching as high as 45 °C/113 °F. Winter (from October to March) is actually the best time to visit Jaipur. The weather is warm and dry during the day but some nights can be very chilly! This is actually peak season so book your accommodation as soon as possible if you’re busy planning a trip to Jaipur.

Between August and September is monsoon season. Rainfall ranges between mild and moderate, and floods are rare. However, it is quite humid during this time. Photographers, though, will find an advantage to going on a Jaipur tour during this time. The monuments are fresh from the recent showers and the colors are more vivid!

The only way to get around Jaipur is by motor vehicle. The city is not suitable for walking primarily because of the big distances between attractions. However, aside from this, walking even manageable distances is simply not fun. Pavements are shoddy, traffic fumes punishing and roads dangerous to cross. Personally, I would not ever consider cycling in Jaipur either as the traffic is simply far too dangerous.

Fortunately, Tuk Tuk’s, cabs, and Motor’s (bikes) are plentiful and cheap. Uber operates across the city and is a lot cheaper than hailing transport on the street. If you do hail one from the street, barter very hard.

Why Jaipur is my favourite city in Rajasthan. Yes, Jaipur!

“ Jaipur ? Again? Not happening”

“But why? It’ll be amazing, I promise!”

And that’s how my 7th trip to Jaipur was planned. Most of my friends are tired of travelling to Jaipur and cannot understand why I would find the touristy city fun after visiting so many times! Yet, the travelling heart doesn’t question, it simply travels (I am allowed to be cheesy, once in a while).

So for everyone who has written off the pink city as just another city, has read innumerable articles on things to do in Jaipur, must see places in Jaipur and must eat places in Jaipur – give this article 10 more minutes and you may just discover something new!

Here’s why I absolutely adore this city:

The colours, the noise and the hullabaloo the city welcomes you with is just overwhelming. I don’t think I have ever heard so many sounds together AND enjoyed it! From the markets to the monuments to the people, there’s an air of excitement, of inexplicable hurriedness and it’s addictive.

Everytime I have visited Jaipur, I have discovered something new and I believe that is simply because I have always gone with an open mind. So contrary to popular belief I don’t think the city is boring or dull and there are tons of must see places in Jaipur besides the forts on the hill, Jal Mahal and chokidhani.

For instance, on any given evening there are numerous things happening at the Rajasthan Lalit Kala Akademi . From plays to musical events to exhibitions, there is something for every art lover and you will not be disappointed. It’s however best to call and go there lest you land up for something you weren’t interested in.

Another absolutely exhilarating experience in Jaipur is at Elefantastic . As the name suggests, it has something to do with elephants and it promises to be fantastic. Located on the Delhi - Ajmer road, this farm houses elephants and offers mere mortals like us an opportunity to spend a day with these grand creatures. Bathing, painting (with organic colours) and feeding elephants are some of your responsibilities and as a reward, you are treated to a lovely, yummilicious Rajasthani meal!

There’s always an awesome café to chill at

Recently Jaipur has become a haven for foodies. A mini Mcleodganj, if you will. The sudden spurt of cafes here is a pleasant surprise for visitors and locals alike. Distinct in themes and food offerings, cafes in Jaipur are changing the foodie scene of Jaipur. Besides Kota ki kachori and handi meat, the ‘must eat in Jaipur’ list is growing longer and longer (yay)!

So if you are in no mood to explore markets or go sightseeing, head to a café, take out a book and enjoy the next couple of hours in peace (trust me, we really don’t do this enough).

Some places you should definitely try are:

Tapri Central

It’s new, it’s cute and it serves yummy food! A no fuss café, Tapri gives you what you really need – good service and even better food. If you are looking at the ambience to make all the difference, then you are in luck since their outdoor seating is absolutely splendid.

EVEN for non-book lovers, it’s a treat. Now that’s saying something.

The latest entrant to the foodie scene, Celebrazio boasts of a welcoming ambience instantly putting you at ease. The fancy bookshelves on the walls are an awesome addition while the live music evenings on some days make for a happy night out.

Do make time for one of the many cafes in between the ‘must eat in Jaipur’ suggestions everyone will bombard you with!

Among the many things to do in Jaipur, one thing that will leave you spell bound is the lovely Alice Garg National Seashells Museum here. Yes, Jaipur has a Seashell Museum and a great one at that! With an astounding collection of shells here, whether or not you are a history buff, you are going to be pleasantly surprised. Very well maintained, this museum promises you an enlightening afternoon with relic from the water. A must try!

Another activity that makes me extremely happy and will definitely stand out for any adventure buff is cycling . Though currently there are limited cycling tours available and it’s a pain to choose the one that suits you best. However if you are travelling in a group, you can hire cycles from anywhere in the Old city and head out on your own. Discovering the city on a bicycle is an experience that you will not easily forget.

If you plan to go up the hill and take a look at Amber fort, it’s best to go with a guide since the roads are little uncertain. If you are at Amber, don’t miss out the Anokhi Museum of Hand Painting – it’s definitely worth your time. With insights into Rajasthan’s famous block printing, this one is a winner with art buffs.

I also ended up buying lots (and I mean lots) of stuff from Anokhi, but you could wait a bit and check out the market for even better deals. Since a trip to Jaipur is never complete with shopping, you must shop to your heart’s content (yes, even the ones who don’t enjoy it)! Shopping in Jaipur is an experience unlike any other and at the end of the day when you walk away with that ultimate steal, the happiness is unbound.

Though every time you step out in Jaipur, especially to the old city, there will be opportunity to shell cash. From jutis to jackets to silver to bags, you name it and Jaipur has it. Handlooms and emporiums might be on the expensive side but if you are in the mood to shop, you can take your chance here. Otherwise Johari bazaar, Babu market offer splendid shopping experiences – they are crowded, loud and bargain down to 50% of the original price.

So whoever you are as a traveller, Jaipur is no ordinary city. It’s unique, it’s enthralling and it treats you exactly how you treat it!

Perhaps the most famous sight seeing spot in Jaipur, Amber fort is Jaipur's historical landmark and rightly so! The light shows held here are an absolute delight. Always call and confirm for the light show should there be last minute cancellations.

Johari Bazar Jaipur

Definitely one of the places you should visit if you are in the mood to shop. Silver jeweller, kundan and a mix and match of jewellery art will be available for you!

Jaipur: A pride of the state Rajasthan

Jaipur, the pink city of beautiful state Rajasthan is a sign of magnificence and vividness.  It is a first planned city of India and largest city of Rajasthan. However, state Rajasthan is a complete place for its visitors as the beauty and essence of rich traditional culture can be found in each and every corner of the state. But Jaipur established its recognition as a versatile tourist destination as it offers superb fortresses, serene temples, amazing havelis and royal palaces. If you are a lover of culture and architecture, like me then you would surely love this royal place.  Jaipur is also well-known for its handicrafts and the amazing collection of jewelleries. This fabulous landscape is a perfect blend of palaces, art, culture, and rich Indian tradition. Jaipur is the right place for photographers to capture the beauty & culture of this historical city. If you really want to know about the roots of Indian culture and tradition, then you must visit this place.

How to reach Jaipur:

Jaipur can be reached from anywhere in India due to its good connectivity. Jaipur is well connected to all the major cities of India; you can either go by train, by air or by airways.

Through Train: You can easily get various trains for Jaipur from Delhi, Agra, Lucknow, Patna, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Kota and many other popular cities of India. Jaipur has three railway stations, Jaipur Junction, Durgapura and Gandhinagar. Jaipur Junction is a main stoppage of all trains and few trains also stop at other two stations as well.

Through Airways: Jaipur airport, situated at Sanganer offers frequent flights to and from many major cities of India, including the national capital Delhi.

Through Road or Buses: Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation offers excellent bus services for Jaipur to Delhi. You can easily get many A/C and non A/C buses on every half an hour.  Apart from Delhi, many express buses are also available to and from Jaipur. Jaipur has a good and well-connected highway so you can go by car or taxi as well.

Places to visit in Jaipur:

I have visited this royal city before 2 months and really this was my most memorable experience of touring Jaipur. Jaipur city has beautiful historical palaces and forts which gives the glimpse of old Indian Architecture design. Here I have listed some of the most important charms of Jaipur, that can’t be missed if visit jaipur.

Amer Fort : Amer Fort is one of the prime attractions of Jaipur and located 11 kilometers from Jaipur. This fort is also called as Amber Fort; a beautiful fort is well-known for its majestic surroundings and spectacular palaces. If you like to experience the Hindu and Muslim architecture together, then you would surely love it. The red sandstone and white marble pavilions are the most delightful experience of this fort.

Jaigarh Fort : This beautiful creation of Maharaja Jai Singh is just located at around 900 meters from the Amber Fort. This spectacular fort is standing on the hilltop so you can explore the entire city of Jaipur from its top. The panoramic views of the pink city can be best seen from this fort. Jaigarh Fort is also called as Victory Fort.

Hawa Mahal : This is a most important attraction of Jaipur, located on the southern part of the city. This amazing five storied building contains a well designed museum, depicting the past and present of Jaipur. The stunning Hawa Mahal can be best visited at the morning time when the golden rays of sun touches to it. Hawa Mahal is also known as the Palace of Winds.

Nahargarh Fort : This glorious fort is located on the edge of Aravalli Hills. Nahargarh depicts the royal legacy of Rajasthan. If you are a wildlife lover, then you must visit this place while touring Jaipur. It is believed that this fort was considered as a hunting residence of the kings.  

Jantar Mantar : This is one of the most beautiful places of Jaipur, crafted with marble and local stone. Jantar Mantar is declared as a national monument where you can explore a vast collection of astronomical devices that help to foresee eclipse, find earth orbits, track stars and much more. After exploring these magnificent places, don’t forget to visit other beautiful charms of the city like City Palace, Jal Mahal, Albert Hall, Govind Devji Temple, Raj Mandir Cinema, Laxmi Narayan Temple and so on.

Nearby Places to visit:

Bagru: This is just around 28 km away from Jaipur, located at the southern part of Jaipur. This place is mainly known for its hand printed cloth industry.

Sanganer: This is located at a distance of 15 kms from Jaipur. Sanganer is well-known for its traditional crafts. You should also visit a beautiful temple of Lord Parswanth.

Ramgarh Lake: This Lake is found at the 35 km north east of Jaipur. It is a good picnic spot for tourists. 

Samod: It is situated at the 40 km north west of Jaipur. It is an old place where you can experience the great Rajput haveli architecture. Ranthambore and Sariska are the renowned wildlife sanctuaries situated near to Jaipur. All the nearby places can be easily reached from Jaipur either by bus or taxi. 

Place to Stay in Jaipur:

There are many option to stay in Jaipur, you can pick any of the option as per your budget. You can choose 5 star hotel, 4 star hotel, 3 star hotel, 2 star hotel, Budget hotel, Guesthouse, Apartment and so on. All the hotels are quite luxurious and provide all essential amenities, depending on their charges.

The Raj Palace is a most luxurious 5 star hotel of Jaipur but quite expensive as well. If you can afford this, then you must stay over there to live royal life. Hotel Meghniwas, Clarks Amer, Hotel Bissau Palace, Dera Rawatsar, Saba Haveli, Hotel Om Tower, Hotel Mansingh, Mandawa Haveli, Jaipur Inn, and many more are the budgeted options to stay in Jaipur. My visit to Jaipur was amazing and I am sure you will also equally enjoy this place as I did. Make sure you don’t miss the must seen places of Jaipur. Shopping was the other most interesting part of my visit; in fact it was a real treat for me. There are many fabulous places that offer many high quality items. You can visit Anokhi, Kripal Kumbh, Art Chill, Gem Palace, and Hot Pink. These are the best places to shop. So, plan your trip to Jaipur and enjoy thoroughly. Have a nice Jaipur trip!

Ultimate Jaipur Itinerary For 2 Days – Budget Solo Trip In 5,000 INR

8 famous places to visit in ajmer on a minimal budget, top 5 ajmer famous food options you should not miss out.

Jaipur is undoubtedly my favorite Rajasthan city.

Not because it’s the capital, but it has a lot of things that still amaze me. I visited the Pink City of Rajasthan in 2020, just before the Covid-19 pandemic, and was lucky enough to explore every part of the city.

Be it’s food, people, monuments, heritage, or city structure, I found it pretty charming. It has everything that a true solo traveler wants: calmness, chaos, breathtaking views, city vibes, colors, and snacks.

More importantly, visiting a new place requires a lot of planning and research. And if you’re a solo budget traveler like me, you have to plan it much better to avoid denting your pockets. When making my itinerary of Jaipur, I made it in such a way that I could cover maximum places at minimum cost. As a result, I was able to cover my whole trip in just under 5,000 INR (60-70 USD).

Hence, to save your time and effort, I have shared my exact Jaipur Itinerary that will suit you if you plan to visit this beautiful city for 2-3 days. So, without any further ado, let’s dive in:

How To Reach Jaipur?

To reach Jaipur, you’ve plenty of options. It’s well connected with almost every Indian state and has regular trains, flights, and Volvo buses. 

Reaching By Air:  Jaipur International Airport (JAI) has regular flights from major Indian cities like New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, etc. You can pre-book your flights in advance to get a steal deal and to avoid the last-day price surge.

Reaching By Train:  Jaipur Railway Station (JP) also has trains from all parts of India. It’s one of the cheapest ways to reach Jaipur from your starting city. Boarding an overnight train is recommended to start your journey fresh from Day 1.

Reaching By Bus:  If you missed the train tickets and didn’t have the flight budget, you can prefer to come to Jaipur by the Volvo bus. Multiple buses run from New Delhi at night, taking 6-8 hours of your total journey time.

Jaipur 2 Days Itinerary – A Detailed Guide

As Jaipur has too many places to cover, it’s a great idea to start with the farthest locations first. I follow this strategy when I am low on time and have to visit all the historic spots without missing them. However, you always have the option to reverse the itinerary as per your comfort and schedule.

The below Pink City itinerary will not only help you plan your Jaipur trip comfortably but will also help you save a lot of money while traveling. I planned my budget Jaipur trip to ensure I cover almost all the historical places with plenty of time to spend at each location.

Jaipur Itinerary – Day 01

If you’re arriving in Jaipur early in the morning, head straight to your hotel, check-in, and take a bath to clean yourself. Then, relax for a few hours and pack your backpack for the rest of the day ahead.

Nahargarh Fort 

On Day 1, I started my Jaipur solo trip by visiting Nahargarh Fort. The best time to visit this place is early in the morning, to avoid sunlight in the noon hours. However, you can also customize your trip as the fort looks more beautiful at night. 

You can take a private round cab to reach this fort, as no local buses or rickshaws go to this hilltop. However, cabs get too expensive and can hit your budget for the rest of the day, so make sure to negotiate the prices. Since I was traveling solo, I booked an OLA bike for myself because it was 70-80% cheaper than the private cabs.

Best Thing Happened: When I discussed my plan with the OLA bike driver, he said he would help me cover all Jaipur’s forts at the cost of 700 INR only (10-12 USD). So, I readily accepted his offer; as if you’ll check out the cab prices for the whole forts tour in Jaipur, it’s over 3,000 (40-50 USD) for the entire day. That was a steal deal for me, and what more can you want on your first day!!!

It took me around 1 hour to reach this place by bike, and I entered the fort around 10:30 AM. Nahargarh fort offers the best breathtaking views of the whole city of Jaipur, so without any crowds, I was able to capture stunning pictures.

How To Reach: Private Cab, OLA bike

Jaigarh Fort

The next place on your trip can be the majestic Jaigarh Fort, located just 6KM from the Nahargarh Fort. Again, I took the same OLA bike, and it took me 20 minutes to reach Jaigarh Fort.

Jaigarh Fort is known for its robust structure and rigors, and you should visit this place to learn about Rajasthan’s war history. The fort is famous for its giant Cannon, which is a treat to watch.

However, please beware of the monkeys everywhere around this fort. High chances are they might snatch your phones or belongings, and it will be super hard to get them back.

Time To Spend:  1-2 hr on average

How To Reach:  Private Cab, OLA bike

Amber Palace/Amer Fort

Undoubtedly the most charming and beautiful fort in Rajasthan is Amer Fort. It is located just 8 KMs away from the Jaigarh Fort, so you can easily cover this on Day 1 itself. I reached Amer fort around 2 PM at noon, and even in the scorching heat, this place was full of people. 

Amer fort and palace museum are famous for their beauty, artifacts, mirrors, ornaments, and history. You can easily dedicate 3-4 hours to this location by exploring its authentic architecture and shopping near the fort bazaar.

Personally, I loved this fort the most amongst the three because of the history related to it. King Man Singh originally built the fort, and it was later modified by Sawai Jai Singh. 

After visiting all the major forts of the Pink City, I headed straight to the center of the city to have some food. I paid the discussed amount to the Bike driver and gave him a few bucks as a tip for being so patient on my journey. 

Time To Spend:  3-4 hr on average

How To Reach: Any Public Transport

Rawat Mishthan Bhandar

It was almost evening, and I went to Jaipur’s most famous sweet shop, Rawat Mishthan Bhandar. They are widely renowned for their pyaz kachoris and sweets.

Whenever you get the time, on Day 1 or Day 2, I recommend you to visit this sweet shop, as you will love their Kachoris. They have a huge demand, and sometimes it even takes 30-40 minutes to serve your order.

Not only will you love the snacks at this place, but you’ll also become a fan of Jaipur’s local food.

After covering all the above places, you might get tired and think about landing at your hotel for the night. However, you have many choices to enjoy your night in Jaipur. You can visit clubs, cafes, and restaurants for a fine dinner for yourself. However, I had some different plans and wanted to visit the famous Chokhi Dhani Resort.

Must Haves:  Pyaaz Kachori, Samosa, Lassi, Ghevar

Cost for two:  INR 100-300 or USD 3-5 (approx.)

When:  06:00 AM to 10:30 PM

Chokhi Dhani Ethnic Village Resort

Jaipur’s trip is incomplete without visiting the Chokhi Dhani resort. And, trust me, you will love this place’s experience. 

The good news is, everyone can enjoy this place, be it solo, couples or families. And the bad news is that the site only opens in the evening late at night. Hence, you cannot visit this place in the morning.

It’s very far from the central city, and you can visit this place by auto rickshaw or private cabs. When I asked about the prices of the cabs, many said 2,500 INR (30 USD), which is way more than the ticket of the Chokhi Dhani itself. So, again, I booked an OLA bike which cost me around 200 INR (5 USD) for one side.

When you visit Chokhi Dhani, you have to buy a ticket for yourself, which will include the price of all the events and unlimited vegetarian Rajasthani food. This resort has tons of things to do, and it will be one of the best solo nights you can ever have.

The resort showcases the rural lifestyle of Rajasthani people, their cooking style, dressings, and you’ll feel very grounded in this place. There’ll be many magic shows, cultural dances, puppet shows, and elephant rides, and you can spend 4-5 hours at this place. 

Again a must-visit place if you’re on a Jaipur trip.

Jaipur Itinerary – Day 02

After a tiring Day 1 in Pink City, you can have the leverage to start slow on Day 2. On this day, you’ll cover most of the tourist spots near the central city without any rush to reach farther locations.

Well, Hawa Mahal needs no introduction. The most iconic monument of Pink City is located at the heart of the city center and is reachable by almost every public transport.

Hawa Mahal gets open in the morning, and you can time your visit accordingly as per your schedule. I visited this place around 10 AM when there was a minimal crowd and that was what I wanted to click the pictures.

The place truly lived up to its hype, and I really liked this monument’s structural design and architecture. There are four floors, and each floor has something unique of its own. 

I didn’t opt for a tour guide for this place; however, if you want to know the in-depth history of the monument, you’ll find many tour guides offering their services at the entry gate of Hawa Mahal.

Time To Spend:  2-3 hr on average

Jantar Mantar

Jantar Mantar is within walking distance of just 10 minutes from the Hawa Mahal, so you can visit this place next. It also opens early in the morning, and you can cover both these places in 2-3 hours. 

Jantar Mantar is famous for its stone-built astronomical instruments, which were used to locate planets and seek time in ancient times. Many things will amaze you about this place, like how the mechanisms used to work and how everything depended on sun rays, and you’ll love the concept.

It’s advisable to hire a tour guide for this place, as the instructions written on the astronomical instruments are usually not apparent. Guides are always available at the entrance of this place, and you can hire them at a minimal price. 

How To Reach:  Any Public Transport

City Palace

After knowing the astronomical history at Jantar Mantar, you can next visit the City Palace, which is located at a 5 min walkable distance. 

City Palace is well-known for its luxurious interior, stays, and royal residence. This tourist spot is perfect for someone who wants to relive the royal lifestyle of Rajasthani kings and emperors. 

The palace has a heritage look, surrounded by lush green gardens and trees. There is a market, museum, and many things inside this palace that will keep you engaged throughout your time of visit.

However, I skipped this place because of its high ticket price. The ticket price was around 400 INR back then, and you also need a tour guide to understand all the crafts inside which will cost 200 INR, a total of 600-700 INR (10-12 USD). I just visited the outside of this palace, admired its beauty, clicked pictures, and went to my next location. 

Albert Hall Museum

The famous Albert Hall Museum is the next thing you can include in your 2-day Jaipur Itinerary. It is just 2kms from the Jantar Mantar, and you can take a tuk-tuk or an autorickshaw to reach its entrance.

I highly recommend you visit this place on your Jaipur trip because you’ll love this museum. The museum has preserved tons of ancient artifacts and war tools. You’ll find arrows, swords, currencies, sculptures, maps, mummies, and many more things that are hundreds of years old. 

The museum is divided into 2-3 floors, and each floor has a different set of artifacts. You can spend 2-3 hours in this place and will still feel it needs more time to explore everything.

Shopping At Jaipur Bazaars

Now that you’ve covered all the major historical places of Jaipur, you can visit its famous markets or bazaars. Jaipur has beautiful shopping hubs, and you can take many things to your home. 

Popular Shopping Bazaars In Jaipur:

• Johari Bazaar (famous for gemstones, jewelry, necklaces)
• Tripolia Bazaar (famous for jewelry, paintings, carpets)
• Chandpol Bazaar (famous for marbles, enamel ornaments)
• Kishanpol Bazaar (famous for wooden sculptures)
• Bapu Bazaar (famous for leather products and shoes/jutis)

Make sure to negotiate well enough before you buy an expensive item from the streets of Pink City. Sometimes, you can find the same deal at a much lower price after looking out the prices on 3-4 shops. 

You can end the day in Jaipur by visiting the markets and having dinner at the popular cafes and restaurants of Jaipur. 

I had the bus back to Delhi in the evening on Day 2 itself, so I spent the rest of the day shopping and roaming the streets. 

That’s it in the 2 Day Itinerary of Jaipur, which I covered under 5,000 INR. You can customize the itinerary, add or subtract the tourist spots, or even reverse Day 1 or Day 2, as per your comforts and schedule. In the end, you must enjoy every hour in this beautiful city of India.

• Volvo Bus from New Delhi (Both Ways) –  1,200 INR (15-20 USD)

You can always modify your budgets according to your spending habits and traveling style. I usually don’t prefer eating in luxurious restaurants and pick street food most of the time.

Best Time To Visit Jaipur

When planning your trip to Jaipur, the weather should be the first thing you must consider before visiting this beautiful city. The summers in Jaipur get scorching hot, with temperatures as high as 45°C/113°F. The pollution, dust, and humidity make it more worse in the peak summer times.

Although you can plan your Jaipur trip at any time of the year, the best time to visit Jaipur is from September to March, when the weather stays on a bit cooler side. Also, winters are the peak tourist season in Jaipur; hence, it’s advisable to pre-book your accommodations to plan a perfect budget trip for yourself.

You can also avoid the monsoon months of India (July-August), as you don’t want to visit the monuments dripping in rain showers. 

How To Get Around In Jaipur? 

The Pink City has a lot of public and private transportation options for the general public and tourists. If you’re visiting Jaipur for the first time, you’ll find plenty of transport options to tour the city without any issues. 

You can take local buses, government mini busses, private cabs, tuk-tuks, rickshaws, metro, OLA, UBER, and cycles as per your comfort. All the public transports are available from early morning till late at night. 

The cheapest mode of transportation in Jaipur is local buses and tuk-tuks compared to private cabs. If you’re on a budget trip, you can travel the whole city by public transport to save your money.

One Day in Jaipur Itinerary – The Best Places in Jaipur, India

The third corner of the golden triangle and the best place to find the calm in the Indian storm, Jaipur is most definitely a must for those touring Northern India. When visiting Delhi and Agra it just makes sense to complete the golden triangle – and here’s why.

When in India, you will find that you are always very much on the move. The hustle and bustle of the country is like no other; yet it takes three times the usual time to do menial tasks like picking up a train ticket. And that is why people love it – it is truly unique and once emerged in the way of life it is a hard place not to love. But sometimes, you just want to have a moment of peace and step away from the hundreds of tourists and staring eyes of the locals. That solace can be found in Jaipur.

Now, it can’t be said that it’s chilled… but for India, it is! There is so much that makes Jaipur distinctive, from its architecture to its fabrics to the amazingly painted elephants you will see wandering down the main roads.

What’s the best time to visit Jaipur?

Summer in Jaipur is from  March to July  and temperatures reach up to 45 degrees Celsius. This is not preferable for the activities that you may wish to do there, unless you have a high toleration for heat!

From July to November  lasts the monsoon season, and in India as a whole it rains… a lot. However, Rajasthan’s monsoon season is much milder, so from the end of September to October  you can avoid the rain entirely, though it is a risk to take. Therefore, travelling in these months is best avoided if you can.

The most popular time to go is winter, from November to February . The weather is warm, dry and sunny, but the nights can be cool, so be ready for it! Good weather does mean a lot more tourists, so queues for popular attractions could be a lot bigger, but the atmosphere of the city as a whole is nice because everyone can get out regardless of the poor weather.

Furthermore, if you go in March, you can see Jaipur’s famous  Elephant festival , where painted elephants roam the streets and sports such as elephant polo take place! This occurs the day before Holi in March. Jaipur also has a k ite festival on the 14 th of January, which is the first day the sun is in the northern hemisphere. It is a true spectacle as the kites have glass shards which catch the light when in the sky… one to maybe watch from afar!

What’s good to know about Jaipur?

Jaipur is known as the pink city, and upon arrival you will not be disappointed by your expectations. It is in fact very pink. In fact, the colour is so entrenched in the history of the country that it is enforced in local laws!

One of the finest examples of the pink colour in Jaipur is the Hawa Mahal Jaipur, also known as the Palace of the Winds. It was built to resemble the honeycomb structure of a bee’s nest and got its name from the ‘cooling system’ design of the windows, which were designed to allow the breeze to blow through. However, windows were in fact installed into the palace during a renovation, meaning its name has lost all meaning. The palace acts as a prime example of Jaipur’s amazing architecture. It appears to be a great palace, but in fact it is all a façade. The structure is almost 2 dimensional and was built as a high screen so that women of the city palace could observe street festivals from inside and remain unnoticed from the outside.

One Day in Jaipur Itinerary

Follow this guide and make the most of your trip even if you’re short on time. These are the top sights and things to do during your one day in Jaipur.

Start your day early, you have a fun day of activities ahead!

The Monkey Temple

A good place to begin is Galtaji, aka the Monkey Temple . If you are travelling round India, it’s likely you will have seen a lot of temples and maybe be a bit hesitant because of that, but this one is like no other. Situated literally in a rock face, about 10km out of the city centre, is an ancient pilgrimage site. If you get a tuk tuk from the city centre, it should cost no more than 400 rupees for them to drive you to the site, wait for you to visit and then drive you back. In total, it’s around a half hour drive each way, but it’s definitely worth it!

Upon arrival, you will be dropped on the outskirts of a town facing a big hill. You may think you have been tricked by the driver, but look for people selling monkey food, and the monkeys themselves, and you’ll know you’re in the right place!

You walk up the hill and reach a point where you can continue to the top or go ahead through a little village. The top will take you to a tiny temple with a 10 rupee entry fee. It’s not much to see, but the view  from there is worth the extra 10 minute walk. Carrying on through the village takes you down the other side of the hill. It’s a bit of a walk but you will reach a more built up area, then suddenly, out of nowhere, you turn around and behind you is a massive temple area, with pools filled with monkeys cleaning themselves and another one filled with people worshiping and praying. It is a true spectacle that is well worth the visit! A little tip though, people will try charge you for taking pictures. You can either tell them to go away, get over your reluctance and pay the small fee for a quiet life, or just not take pictures, but do not miss out on the memory of this place!

The Palace of the Winds

Upon arrival back to the city, take a wander past the Palace of the Winds mentioned above. You can go in, but when you only have one day it’s more of a photo opportunity. After all, it’s flat, there’s really not much to see! Local shop owners from across the road will encourage you to go onto their roofs to get a better view. In actual fact, the view from there is amazing, you can see right over the city as well as the surrounding forts, and all they ask in exchange is that you take a look in their shop. Obviously, as this is India, as usual watch your back and don’t be naïve to the fact that they will expect you to buy a little souvenir as thanks, but it’s well worth it!

Johari Bazar

Head for lunch via Johari Bazar (you can walk there from the Palace of the Winds). Here is a fab place to buy souvenirs; the street specializes in jewelry, clothing, craft-work and art. It’s a bustling, busy area and there are plenty of places to get yourself a good deal! For lunch, restaurants are hard to come by, but there is a fab place called Jain Patang Udyog  on the Haldion Ka Rasta street just off the main street. It serves Dal ki kachori with chatni, a local delicacy.

Jantar Mantar

After lunch head to the Jantar Mantar . This is a collection of astrological instruments all built to tell the time, from seconds to months to the year. The location is a UNESCO site and features the world’s largest sundial. The instruments are all still in working order, and it is fascinating to learn how the concept of time was developed. You can get a tour on the door from a registered tour guide, costing from 50-100 rupees per person depending on group size. It is definitely worth paying for a guide here as otherwise you will not gain insight into how the instruments actually work, although they are amazing just to look at, as well!

The Jantar Mantar is situated next to the City Palace . Entry into the palace is quite expensive, however if you don’t want to go in you can have a quick look! It is also all within a walking distance from the Palace of the Winds and Johari Bazar.

It’s best to hire a driver to Amer Fort , although you can get a tuk tuk here too! If you get a driver, they will be able to organize a tour guide for you, who you pay in tips. Alternatively, you can get an elephant ride up to the fort.

However, these run in the mornings only, so you would have to rearrange the day. Amer Fort is the one place where it would be recommended more than anywhere to get a tour guide ! The fort itself is amazing to look at and the view from it is amazing, too. But the architectural genius of this place is like no other, and to learn about this you need a tour guide!

From the design of the palace with hidden corridors so that the king’s 9 wives never had to cross paths; to the different bedrooms for summer and winter depending on the light; to the water pipe system that saved water for drought and is still in working condition today! There are so many wonderful photo opportunities and there is so much to see and learn, Amer Fort is a must see in Jaipur!

End the day under Amer Fort watching the spectacular light and sound show which tells the story of Jaipur. Tickets are 200 rupees, and the show lasts around 45 minutes.

Where to stay in Jaipur?

Umaid mahal – heritage style hotel.

Book your stay in the Umaid Mahal – Heritage Style Hotel  or one of its counterparts (it is part of a small chain). It is a fab, authentic hotel with great breakfast, a small pool that is nice for a quick dip in the morning, plus the price is very reasonable. The best thing about the hotel is its décor. The outside is one big mosaic, and the inside is furnished with traditional furniture in a true Jaipur style . It also has a rooftop restaurant which had the best chicken tikka pizza going.

Best hostels

Jaipur is a great destination for backpackers and young travelers, and hostels around the city are surely the best place to stay if you want quality budget stay . It’s a great place to meet other travelers and explore the local culture. DAY TRIPS FROM JAIPUR

India is a country of immense cultural wealth, and no matter where you turn you will see something incredible. However, some sights deserve your attention more than others, so take them into consideration when planning your day trip from Jaipur.

If you have the time and energy, Agra as a destination is a no-brainer. Yes, it will take you more than three hours to get there, but the payoff is huge. The city is home to two fabled UNESCO World Heritage Sites – Agra Fort and the majestic Taj Mahal . The sensation you get when you first see these monumental buildings is indescribable, and you will immediately forget about the ride here.

Ranthambore

For animal-lovers, Ranthambore is something they absolutely must visit. This beautiful national park is a great getaway from the city crowds, and since you get a chance to see tigers and leopards in their natural habitat, the idea of this day trip becomes even more enticing. Head out on a safari and enjoy a day you will never forget.

Ajmer is a city about two hours from Jaipur, and it has loads of sights to visit. From the incredible Lal Mandir with its golden interior to  Ajmer Sharif Dargah , a shrine dedicated to  a revered saint, you will have more than enough to see and explore. Just don’t forget to leave some time to go and visit Pushkar , a small town on Ajmer’s outskirts, where a sacred lake is located.

Chand Baori

Hands down, Chand Baori is the most beautiful stepwell in India. Numerous steps were created on its three sides, with an impressive pavilion on the fourth. Seeing this is like entering a fantasy movie or something like that, and if you want some photos that will make everyone back home jealous, this is the place to take them. After that, don’t forget to visit Bhangarh , a fort that is supposedly cursed and haunted by restless spirits.

Sanganer is the perfect place to do some souvenir shopping. It is very close to Jaipur and is completely dedicated to producing its unique fabrics which you can actually have printed out right there and then. It is also an important town for Jains, who have their temples scattered all over the place. Shopping and a bit of culture, doesn’t sound bad, now does it?

Extra tips for visiting Jaipur?

– Accept the fact that in Jaipur you are going to be paying foreigner admission prices which will cost a great deal more than for locals. Despite this, prices are all very reasonable!

– If you do have any extra time, hire a car and go watch the sunset from Nahargarh Fort , which is a short drive from Amer Fort. The view covers the whole city and the palace up there is worth a visit too.

My Weekend at Jaipur

Last Diwali, my parents decided to take us on a vacation to Rajasthan. We planned our holiday to spend Diwali in the pink city, Jaipur.

After visiting Jodhpur and Jaisalmer, we reached Jaipur on Friday evening. The whole city was aglow with diyas and candles. I could not wait to explore the city some more, the next morning. I was anxiously waiting to see the Hawa Mahal.

Early in the morning we set out to visit the City Palace. On the way, we stopped at the Hawa Mahal. Though the Hawa Mahal looks very beautiful in photographs I was very disappointed when I saw it. It stands on a very busy road in a dilapidated condition.

The City Palace is now the residence of the royal family and a part of it houses, a museum full of clothes and armoury belonging to the Rajputs and the Mughals.

 In the evening we visited Jantar Mannar and the Jaipur Zoo. We then burst crackers and celebrated Diwali in our hotel.

On Sunday morning, my mother and I went to Baps, Bazaar, the main market of Jaipur. The market was full of small shops selling colorful bangles, mojris, and imitation jewellery. In the afternoon, we took an elephant ride up to the Amer fort. The glass ceiling in the Sheesh Mahal simply took my breath away.

 When I returned back home, I felt the city of Jaipur had taken me to a different era and made me feel very proud of my country and its history.

My Educational Tour to Jaipur

Educational tours hold a very significant place in college memories. It not only gives you an opportunity to explore different places as a free bird without worrying about the general problems one faces when alone or with the family, but it also helps in strengthening the bonds with your friends because they are your next to kin during your whole trip. I am a fortunate person since my college curriculum provided me with two opportunities of educational tours – one within Rajasthan and one outside Rajasthan. Here I'm writing about my first trip that I undertook in my third year of engineering. Our destination was the capital of Rajasthan, Jaipur, which is also known as Pink City. The month was October and the duration of the tour was 5 days. Day 1 The distance between jaipur and Jodhpur is around 330 KM and generally the bus takes nearly 6 hours to reach there. We were to begin out journey at 9 a.m. and expected to reach Jaipur latest by 5 p.m. (including the time of staying for lunch in between). But contrary to our expectations we reached Jaipur by 8:30 p.m. the journey itself had begun past 10 o' clock in the morning. After that we had to spend almost the whole day in the bus which was not a pleasing experience considering that the sun blazes in Rajasthan even in the month of October. We had some filmy problems as well like puncturing of tyre and engine doing trouble. It was perhaps the only bad experience of the whole trip. The place we stayed at was situated in ‘Mansarovar' area of Jaipur. The building had a big lawn and some more space in front. We were around 80-85 people including 4 faculty members. The girls and the faculty were given rooms but we boys were provide with just two large halls (Poor we) to accommodate ourselves. We were very tired that day and even had our dinner after 10 p.m. at nearby restaurant which was just about to drop the shutter. But surprisingly very few slept that night. Rests of us stayed awaken chatting, playing cards and doing antics in the lawn. We were in a locality where mostly students lived and so nobody came out shouting for the clamor we were creating. The same thing would continue in the coming nights as well right till the end of the trip. I did go to sleep but at 5 in the morning, only to get up at 9 a.m. By that time we had already moved into day 2 of our trip. Day 2 That day we didn't have any industrial visit so we had a whole day to enjoy ourselves. After breakfast few girls and boys went out to tour Jaipur by themselves. Many of us decided to travel with our faculties who belonged to Jaipur and obviously knew the places worth visiting. There was one added advantage that we could move around in the college bus since the faculties were with us. That helped us in saving travel expenses. Our first stop was ‘Amber fort' which lies at some distance outside Jaipur. This fort isn't like Mehrangarh of Jodhpur facing a whole city in front of it but it was fairly big and we had a lot of fun exploring it. We were given almost an hour and half to tour the fort and then we had to return to the bus. Though I liked the place but was sad at the commercialization in and around the fort. The commercial activities have spoiled the place and there seems to be no control on the vendors, shopkeepers and hawkers who charge as per will and continuously disturb you. I had read about this whole thing a lot in the newspapers but that was my first experience with them. After our lunch at a ‘dhaba' we move to our next destination which was another fort ‘Nahargarh'. I fell in love with this place instantly since this fort oversees Jaipur, just like Mehrangarh oversees Jodhpur. It gave a spectacular view of the city. We enjoyed locating different places of Jaipur like ‘Jantar Mantar'. The place had very few visitors that time and it turned out to be a boon since we could move about easily about there in our group of friends. The fort had old canons, ‘jharokhas' to get a view of the city and beautiful architecture. There was a pond at a small distance from the fort where few scenes of ‘Rang De Basanti' were filmed. Few of the guys tried some daredevil tricks like crossing the pond by walking on a small platform which had been built on the wall enclosing one side of the pond, in spite of being warned by others. Thankfully there were no faculties around and nothing unfortunate happened. It was already dark by the time we got back to the city. Our next stop was Birla Temple which unlike Nahargarh was very crowded. The constraint on time and the rush didn't allow us to observe the temple properly. After that we moved to the last stop of the day – a very famous mall of Jaipur ‘Gaurav Tower'. Now this was a totally different place from where we had spent half of our day. This was the modern world of glittering lights and commercial to the core to which we belonged. All the guys and the girls soon disappeared into the crowd visiting different shops or just hanging around. My group of friends went to the McDonalds to eat something since we were hungry and it was already a dinner time. That night I didn't stay awake for too long. The weariness of two days pushed me into the deep sleep before the clock had struck 12 and the day had changed. Day 3 Our first industrial visit was scheduled at noon. By that time we enjoyed in our place only. One of the guys had bought a music system last night with speakers for his family. So we spent close to two hours dancing on the different tracks and having fun. Of course the girls were not the part of this pure guy enjoyment. I didn't enjoy my first industrial visit very much. It was already so hot and the company official made us wait for about 20-25 minutes outside the complex. I was even more disappointed to find a small factory instead of a big company with a few workers making transformers and some other minor electrical devices. We didn't gain any new knowledge in this visit and the official who had received us was more interested in telling us about the different training programs they had and its fees. The day was so hot that most of us preferred to get back to our staying place. In the evening a group of students (including me) together with one of the faculty member went to a park known as ‘Technology Park' which was close to 2 KM from our place. I couldn't understand why the park was named so. Anyway the place was lush green and very calm. We stayed there for 2 hours, chatting and clicking pictures. That night I stayed awake till late hours, like many of my friends. I spent my some time on playing ‘kabaddi', a little time on listening to the music and rest on chatting. I didn't notice at all and silently the 4th day of our tour arrived. Day 4 The next industrial visit was different for 2 different groups of students. The first group was supposed to visit BSNL Jaipur that day while my group had its visit on the 5th and final day of the tour. So that day was again free for us to further explore Jaipur. This time though we didn't have the facility of bus since it had been used by the first group for the visit to BSNL. So we travelled on foot or in the city buses. The first place we visited was a market known as ‘Bapu Bazar'and lies in old Jaipur. The place was obviously of more significance for girls than boys but we managed to spend time by looking at stuffs like t-shirts, goggles and belts. I decided to buy something for my sister and asked my friend Kanika to find something suitable and bargain as well (Girls are master over it). After this little shopping we had out lunch and then we went to Albert hall which is at a walk able distance from the market. Albert hall is essentially a museum with many artifacts and paintings. The museum had enough elements to keep us engaged for next one hour. From the terrace of it one can get a nice view of Nahargarh. The day was not that hot like the previous one so we didn't have much trouble in walking. After that we went to the nearby zoo. I don't remember when was my last visit to the zoo had took place? In fact that was the case with most of the guys. So we enjoyed there too. There were several animals like white tiger, baboon, Himalayan bear, crocodiles as well as their kids etc. there were many colorful birds as well. After the visit to the zoo many of us wanted to go to ‘Rajmandir', once Asia's best cinema hall, to watch the film ‘Lage Raho Munnabhai'. Few students who had watched the film as well visited the theatre before decided to go to some other place. Though I had watched the film 2 weeks ago only, I couldn't resist myself to see the cinema hall about which I had heard so much. In any case the film too was very good and could be watched again. So our group got divided into two with the major one going to watch the film. I was not as awed as the people would have got when the theatre was in its prime and only one of its kind, but it was miles ahead of Jodhpur's cinema halls definitely. The interiors were beautiful and it really looked great. The foreigners even today visit this theatre when they come to Jaipur. I saw more than 10 of them in that single show. The theatre's reputation is thus intact even after the arrival of multiplexes. We enjoyed the film very much, this time even more because we were watching it in the group. The sound system was very good and the sitting was comfortable. By the time we got out it was already 15 minutes past 9. We quickly caught a bus to reach our place. That night yet again we skipped the sleep for many hours. Few of the guys didn't sleep at all. They made use of this time by applying make up on the faces of different guys who were fast asleep. Many of them were surprised to find their faces colored with marker and toothpastes. I was one of them. Few others were confused to find themselves out of the room into the grass. The whole situation was very hilarious and we quite enjoyed it. DAY 5 That day we visited ‘Genus overseas', a company involved in making electrical meters and many other electrical equipments. I liked this particular visit as it actually gave the feel of visiting some proper industry. We were received well and properly shown various parts of the company where different tasks were being carried out. They also told us about a vey expensive software which is used for the simulation and approximation purposes. We had a very small glimpse of their R & D section as well. The manager of the company gave us some good information and also answered few of our queries. After coming back we didn't go out. That night we had to bid good bye to the city. We were supposed to leave Jaipur by evening but finally left it after 9 at night. Though we were very tired but the sleep evaded us even in our return journey. Yet again there was loads of chatting and laughing. We reached Jodhpur early morning. I was at my home by 7 a.m. My mother asked me about the journey. I handed over my bag to her and said ‘I enjoyed for almost 100 hours out of 120. I guess I must have some sleep now.' And then I changed my clothes and fell into a deep sleep, a sleep that didn't break for next 10 hours.

How to reach Jaipur?

To save on travel time, the best mode of transport you can opt for is, by air! Jaipur airport is a well-connected airport that operates both, domestic as well as international flights. If you are travelling from Delhi, the flight time taken is roughly 1 hour whereas the time taken from Mumbai is approximately 2 hours by flight. Major cities such as Bangalore, Pune, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, Indore, Ahmedabad etc. are also well-connected with Jaipur and offer frequent flights to this destination. This is also the major reason why many Jaipur holiday packages include airfare to and fro as part of their plan!

Once you reach Mandawa, try to cover the following sightseeing attractions, as per time permits:

The most prominent of all tourist attractions in Mandawa is the Mandawa Fort situated in the heart of the city. This 18th-century fort was built by Thakur Nawal Singh and uses a traditional medieval theme in its construction and design. The main archway of the fort is adorned with beautiful frescoes depicting Lord Krishna and his cows. Even the interiors and the many rooms of the fort are decorated with paintings of Lord Krishna, exquisite carvings and amazing mirror work. The fort also houses a ‘Durbar Hall’ that is home to a huge collection of antiques and paintings.[/tab]

Begin your journey from Mandawa early, so that you reach Jaipur by mid-morning. The road travel takes about 3.5-4 hours, given the distance of almost 190 km that you have to cover between the two destinations. There are many experiences that we do not forget for a long time. Such experiences are very exciting.

One such experience in my life is a short trip to a village resort in Jaipur. It was a two-day trip and I can recall every moment of it. It was also my first trip without my parents.

The night before the trip I was not able to sleep out of excitement. On the day of the trip, we reached the school at 5 a.m. and boarded the bus to leave for Jaipur. During the six hours of the journey, we enjoyed dancing, singing, and playing games.

We reached our destination in the afternoon. The resort was a true picture of Rajsthan. The colours, the decoration, and the hospitality truly depicted the Rajasthani culture. The rooms, furniture, and the huts were a reconstruction of a village in Rajasthan. It was very exciting to sit and sleep on the Charpoys. We rested a while after lunch.

In the evening we went to the fair. It was a fun-filled affair. There were the traditional dancers, camel rides, a puppet show)and a lavish Rajasthani meal.

The next day after a heavy breakfast and sightseeing, we left for our school and reached late in the evening. It was an experience that made me feel confident.

It has been very hot summers in Mumbai every year. This summer my father decided to take us to Panchgani for a vacation. We were excited and eager to see the place.

We set out for Panchgani by car. At last, we reached Pune. From Pune, it took us about two hours to reach Panchgani. As we entered Panchgani, we were greeted by the beautiful sight of silver oak trees. These trees are tall, slender, and graceful. They give beauty to the scenery.

We stayed at the Government Tourist Bungalow. It was a comfortable place. The climate was cool and pleasant. It was a welcome change from the burning heat of Mumbai. We spent our time going for walks in the morning and evening. Our bungalow was situated on the side of a hill. It overlooked a deep green valley. It was fun to watch the sunrise and the sunset.

Panchgani has many schools and hotels because it is mainly a tourist resort. There are local residents and the staff of schools and hotels. The places worth visiting are Sidney Point and Table Land. Table Land is a vast stretch of flat land situated on the top of a hill. All the schools play their matches there. When climbing up to Table Land there is a hollow space known as the Devil’s Kitchen.

Panchgani has frequent showers in May. Then the place gets full of a variety of wildflowers and ferns. The mist comes down from the hills and covers everything with a white smoky curtain. Nature has provided Panchgani with beautiful scenery. Our long walks and the cool climate made us very hungry. We ate our food with a hearty appetite. Mahabaleshwar, another hill station, is only eleven miles away from Panchgani. We used to go to Mahabaleshwar every Sunday and enjoy boating on the lake. We enjoyed eating the makai-butta, fresh carrots, and corn-pattice near the lake. We also did horse riding. We were sorry when our holiday was over. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to this hill station. We came back happy and refreshed in body and mind.

Jaipur Essay: Also known as the pink city, Jaipur is one of the most beautiful cities in India. It is the capital of the state of Rajasthan in India. The population of Jaipur according to the 2022 census was 7,107,000 an increase of about 2.47 per cent from 2021. It is the tenth most populous city in India. Jaipur is located in the east-central part of Rajasthan equidistant from Alwar and Ajmer. Also, it is the most populous city in Rajasthan. In addition, it also bears the importance of being the first planned city in India  This city was planned by Vidyadhar Bhattacharya and thus it holds the distinction of being the first planned city of Inida.

Jaipur has arid and hot weather which prevails from the month of March to May which is referred to as the summer season. During the month of December till February, the temperatures are very low and are referred to as the winter season. Whereas the month of October and November are transit months between the winter and the monsoon. Thus the best time to visit Jaipur is during the months of November to January. The remarkable tourist spots in Jaipur are Amber Fort and Palace, Hawa Mahal, Sisodia Rani Garden, Jaigarh Fort, Jantar Mantar Observatory, Abhaneri stepwell, and Rambagh Palace to name a few. The Jaipur Tourism Industry has contributed largely towards the development of the city.  In addition, a large number of foreign exchange is earned by the tourism industry owing to the visit of international tourists. The government and the city municipality have restored the national heritage to captivate more and more tourists.

Jaipur is also one of the most significant economically vibrant cities. The key strengths of the country are local handicraft industries, the trade and commerce industry and the tourism industry. Thus they are regarded as the assets of the economic profile of the city. The industrial sector is also one of the most important sectors of the city. To encourage the industrial development of the city, the government has taken initiatives to develop the industrial areas of Jhotwara, Vishwakarma, Hirawala Ext and Kolana.

Jaipur is famous all over the world for its remarkable arts and crafts. The city offers exquisite jewellery, lacquer items, puppets and quilts. Moreover, Jaipur is also famous for its folk dance and music. The traditional dance form of the city is Ghoomar or Ghumar and the Mand Folk Music is the most popular form of folk music that has gained success from the people. The local language of Jaipur is Dhundhadi, whereas some people speak English and Hindi as well. The majority of the people belong to the Sanatan Dharma or Hinduism. People together celebrate festivals such as Makar Sankranti, Diwali, Dusshera, Ganesh Chaturthi and others. Regards food, the cuisine of Jaipur marks the royalty of the city. Across the world, the Rajasthani thalis are very famous comprising of Mawa Kachori, dal Bati churma, Besan ka Gatta, bazre ki roti to name a few.

In conclusion, it can be said that Jaipur is the most embellished and the most beautiful city in India. Also, having a large number of tourist places such as Amber Fort and Palace, Hawa Mahal, Sisodia Rani Garden and a lot more, it attracts a large number of tourists across the world. The place is also famous for its cuisines, dance, music and arts and crafts.
