Kasey Moore What's on Netflix Avatar

Looking for a complete track listing breakdown for the brand new Taylor Swift concert on Netflix? You’re in the right place as we’ve compiled a list of every song that was sung and played throughout the 2-hour extravaganza.

This isn’t Netflix’s first foray into concerts but probably is their biggest yet. The only one that possibly rivals this is the Bruce Springsteen special that came earlier in the year.

Where was this concert filmed?

As you may know, Netflix only recorded one of the concerts that Taylor Swift did on her Reputation Tour. This concert was filmed either on the 5th or 6th of October at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, USA.

Taylor Swift’s Reputation tour movie is my End Game — but it’s leaving Netflix soon

So it goes ... let's cry together about Reputation leaving Netflix

Taylor Swift plays piano during Reputation stadium tour

When Taylor Swift released the album Reputation, she rose up from the dead (she does it all the time). Following a significant stint away from the spotlight and off social media, the pop star dropped her sixth studio album in 2017. After an endless stream of nasty headlines and mass criticism, Swift reclaimed her reputation with the edgy album that chronicles some of her biggest beefs and a burgeoning relationship, thereby reclaiming her own narrative.

Though the album got snubbed at the Grammys, Reputation continues to be a fan-favorite. Swifties were itching for a Reputation: Taylor’s Version announcement during the most recent leg of the 2023 Eras Tour, but no dice. To say fans are "Ready For It" is an understatement.

We can’t binge-listen to Taylor’s Version of the album just yet, but we can rewatch the Taylor Swift: Reputation Stadium Tour movie on Netflix — but not for long. Sadly, Netflix isn’t the popular concert film’s End Game. It’s leaving the streaming site on December 30, 2023.

Baby, Let the Reputation Stadium Tour Begin

Swift’s Reputation Stadium Tour kicked off in May of 2018 and ended in November of that same year. She performed 53 concerts during the tour — 40 of which were in North America. As the title suggests, the “Delicate” singer performed exclusively in stadiums for the entire run, which marked her first all-stadium tour.

The pop icon’s 20-song set list covered a majority of the album, including “... Ready for It,” “I Did Something Bad,” “King of My Heart,” and “Getaway Car.” Swift may not have performed her Rep song “New Year’s Day” during the tour, but she paid homage to the ballad by releasing the concert film on New Year’s Eve.

Flashback to the Reputation Film Reel

Just over a month after the Reputation Tour concluded, Swift released the concert movie exclusively on Netflix. The film chronicles a single concert: the Arlington, Texas show at AT&T Stadium. Swift is known for playing different “surprise songs” during each tour stop, and she gifted fans with her widely adored song “All Too Well” from the album Red.

In the past few years, the “Call It What You Want” singer has taken charge of her projects — from production to directing. Paul Dugdale directed the Reputation film while Swift produced it under her production company, Taylor Swift Productions.

Over 100 thousand Swifties cheered on their idol during the 2-hour show, making it an electrifying experience for the audience and movie-watchers alike. Like the album itself, the concert movie became somewhat of a personal redemption for the artist. Critics weren’t largely wowed by the album (their loss), but the narrative changed with the release of the movie.

Taylor Swift performs onstage during the reputation Stadium Tour at AT&T Stadium on October 5, 2018 in Arlington, Texas.

The visual components of the Reputation Stadium Tour film are downright mesmerizing. It appropriately kicks off with Swift’s lyric “Baby, let the games begin” from “... Ready for It?” followed by her iconic entrance with pulsing black and red lights and headlines flashing on massive screens.

But nothing can compare to the terrifying larger-than-life 3-D snake graphic that dances along with the performers during “Look What You Made Me Do.” Later, Swift and her dancers rock back and forth on a snake-filled boat on her X-shaped stage. Swift even invited her opening acts — Camila Cabello and Charlie XCX — to join her for her smash hit “Shake It Off.” That’s a lot of star power for one stage.

With a functioning fountain, an endless light show, and a snake-heavy wardrobe, the Rep tour is one of Swift’s most intense and showiest tours to date. Of course, the concert closes on a fireworks display, and the text, “and in the death of her reputation, she felt truly alive.” And so did fans.

Taylor Swift has released a belated Christmas present for fans, in the form of her Reputation stadium tour on Netflix .

The concert film, which appeared on the streaming site on New Year’s Eve, is comprised of footage from the last show of the US leg of the pop star’s world tour at the AT&T Stadium in Dallas, using 28 cameras.

It features the pyro, elaborate staging, fireworks, dances and a 63ft inflatable cobra called Karyn that were all part of her critically acclaimed show, along with special appearances from Camila Cabello and Charli XCX. It streams globally on 31 December.

Swift closed her Reputation tour on a particular high point, with the news that she had broken the record for the highest-grossing US tour since Billboard records began tracking tour data in 1990.

The tour grossed $266.1m and sold 2,068,399 tickets, beating the previous record held by The Rolling Stones for their A Bigger Bang tour, which ran between 2005 and 2007 and grossed $245m. Swift also managed to achieve the feat in just 38 shows, while the Stones took 70 to reach their record.

The Reputation tour also attracted critical acclaim around the world. Reviewing her first show of the UK leg, The Independent branded it a “dazzling spectacle” and the “biggest event on the 2018 pop calendar”.

Albums of the year 2018

“A breathtaking rendition of ‘Bad Blood’ adds a countrified guitar hook so it switches easily over to ‘Should Have Said No’,” the review said. ”There was so much uproar over ticket prices when Swift announced the tour, yet from the offset it has been apparent – for any fans who doubted it – that it was worth every penny, as the stage is flooded with red lighting and dancers swing from trapeze with all the splendour of a Broadway show.

“The dynamic of the gig is perfect – there are lulls, but only when they’re intended, to create pauses between the big songs that feel profoundly intimate.”

The typical setlist for the Reputation stadium tour was as follows:

  • “...Ready for It?”
  • “I Did Something Bad”
  • “Style” / “Love Story” / “You Belong with Me”
  • “Look What You Made Me Do”
  • “King of My Heart”
  • “Shake It Off” (with Camila Cabello and Charli XCX)
  • “Dancing with Our Hands Tied”
  • “All Too Well”
  • “Blank Space”
  • “Bad Blood” / “Should’ve Said No”
  • “Don’t Blame Me”
  • “Long Live” / “New Year’s Day”
  • “Getaway Car”
  • “Call It What You Want”
  • “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” / “This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things”

Screen Rant

Why taylor swift: reputation stadium tour left netflix.

Taylor Swift: Reputation Stadium Tour is the fourth documentary starring the international pop star but it has been mysteriously removed from Netflix.

  • Taylor Swift: Reputation Stadium Tour has been removed from Netflix without explanation. It was a successful concert film that portrayed Swift's historic tour.
  • The reason for the movie's removal could be related to the ownership of Taylor Swift's album Reputation, which has yet to be released in her "Taylor's Version."
  • However, fans can still stream Miss Americana on Netflix, a documentary that offers a deep and emotional look into Swift's life as a global superstar.

Taylor Swift: Reputation Stadium Tour has surprisingly been removed from Netflix, but it is unclear for exactly what reason. International pop star Taylor Swift has been the subject of plenty of documentaries , beginning in 2010 with Taylor Swift: Journey To Fearless . In 2010, Swift had only released three albums and, though her popularity was rocketing, she was still not the massive music, video, and pop culture icon she went on to become. With her impressive singing range, ear for catchy tunes, and seeming preternatural ability to understand what her fanbase will love, Swift's essence is hard to capture in one standalone film, or even in a documentary series.

One of the documentaries that attempt to harness just a small portion of Swift's power is Taylor Swift: Reputation Stadium Tour . This is a concert film released in December 2018 and depicts Swift's second performance at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas for her Reputation Stadium Tour . It was the fifth concert tour of Swift's career and a celebration of the release of her sixth studio album, Reputation (2017). The movie succeeded in accurately showcasing what went on to be a historic and award-winning tour. But despite the movie's success and important role in telling the story of Taylor Swift, Taylor Swift: Reputation Stadium Tour is no longer on Netflix.

16 Best Music Documentaries On Netflix

No reason was given for why taylor swift: reputation stadium tour left netflix.

Neither Netflix nor anyone else involved in Taylor Swift: Reputation Stadium Tour has given a reason for the concert movie leaving the platform on December 30, 2023. As a Netflix original, it's a little strange that the movie would ever leave the streamer. It's not an entirely unprecedented move, however, and Netflix originals do occasionally get removed if ownership belongs to some other party (via What's on Netflix ). That could be the simple answer, or it could be a messier issue considering Taylor Swift's fight to retain some of her albums .

Reputation is one of two remaining Swift albums that the pop star has yet to make a "Taylor's Version" for , along with Taylor Swift (2006). If Reputation is up for rerelease, Netflix may have decided to avoid controversy by giving the rights to their concert movie back to Swift. At the moment, Taylor Swift: Reputation Stadium Tour is not available to stream anywhere else, and it doesn't appear to be returning to Netflix anytime soon.

What Taylor Swift Documentaries Are Still On Netflix?

Fortunately for fans of Taylor Swift who have Netflix subscriptions, there is still one Taylor Swift documentary available to stream on the platform. Miss Americana (2020) is one of her few non-concert movies that instead follows Swift for several years between Reputation 's release and Lover 's (2019) rollout . It's a probing, emotional, and honest documentary that details the exhaustion and frustration that comes with being an international superstar. Swift's trademark vulnerability and down-to-earth qualities are on full exhibit in Miss Americana .

Is Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour Available For Streaming?

Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour is another of Swift's celebrated concert movies with a 99% on Rotten Tomatoes . The 2023 doc is not currently streaming but is playing in theaters, and it's been released for rent on select streaming platforms. According to Town & Country , Swift has the option to put Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour on streaming 13 weeks after its theatrical premiere, which would mean January 12, 2024 is the earliest time it can arrive, though that doesn't mean it has to go to streaming, just that the option is there. Similar to Taylor Swift: Reputation Stadium Tour , streaming fans will have to wait for their music documentary.

Taylor's Reputation Tour Movie Is Leaving Netflix At The End Of 2023

Watch it while you can, Swifties!

It’s going to be a rough New Year’s Day for Swifties. For the past five years, Taylor Swift fans were free to stream her Reputation Tour concert film on Netflix, but the streamer is removing the movie soon. Once 2023 comes to an end, Taylor Swift: Reputation Stadium Tour will leave Netflix. However, despite some online rumors, her other doc Miss Americana is not going anywhere.

Netflix released its full slate of new additions and departing content for December 2023, and one title definitely stood out among the shows and movies that would be taken off the streamer. Taylor Swift: Reputation Stadium Tour will be removed from Netflix on Dec. 30, almost exactly five years after it premiered on Netflix back in 2018.

No reason was given for the concert doc’s removal, although the timing is suspect. Some reports are theorizing Netflix had licensed the movie with a five-year deal, which would explain why it’s being removed one day before its five-year anniversary. Swifties are also curious if the move has some connection to Reputation (Taylor’s Version) , which Swift is heavily rumored to formally announce very soon .

However, the Reputation Tour movie’s removal won’t be as bad as some Swifties online are worrying. After that announcement, rumors began swirling that Netflix was also planning to do away with Swift’s 2020 documentary Miss Americana . Thankfully, that isn’t the case. Miss Americana is not mentioned at all on Netflix’s list of shake-ups for December 2023, so there’s no reason to believe it’s going anywhere anytime soon.

Taylor Swift's 'Reputation' Tour movie is leaving Netflix, but 'Miss Americana' is safe.

The Reputation Tour disappearance comes in the middle of Swift’s first tour since then, her international Eras Tour . Swift spent all of 2023 touring North, Central, and South America. After a two-month hiatus at the start of the new year, Swift will tour the eastern hemisphere for the bulk of 2024 , before returning to North America for her last few dates in the U.S. and Canada in the fall.

Although Swifties won’t be able to re-experience the Reputation Tour on Netflix in 2024, it does seem likely that Reputation stans will be eating in the new year. Fans believe she’s been dropping lots of hints that Reputation will be her next re-recorded album .

On December 13, 2018, Taylor thanked everyone for her birthday wishes on Instagram and also announced that there was going to be a tour movie for the Reputation Stadium Tour that would be released on New Year's Eve, titled Taylor Swift: reputation Stadium Tour . It was filmed at the last Dallas/Arlington show, which was the final US leg date. It featured the surprise song " All Too Well ".

Taylor Swift designed her own stage, complete with an elevator, and a rapid changing room for her eight costumes.

The main screen was 110 feet tall and and made of 12 columns and 1,5OO LED tiles that split into 49 individual screens that moved depending on the song. The stage design is an X shape and it also features a B & C Stage that Taylor accessed with the floating constellation and snake gondolas during " Delicate " and the " Bad Blood "/" Should've Said No " mashup. The band played right behind the main screen and during certain parts of the show, the screen opened and the audience could see them.

During " Look What You Made Me Do ", there was a giant inflatable snake named Karyn on the stage as well as smaller inflatable snakes on the B & C Stage and for the show encore, a water fountain was installed on stage. There were also fire, smoke and fireworks effects throughout the show from the stage. The LED bracelets distributed to the attendees were interactive with the songs and stage visuals.

Listen to this article

It might be bad news for all the Swifties who want to stream Taylor Swift 's Reputation Stadium Tour ... the concert film is reportedly leaving Netflix at the end of December 2023.

If you've been keeping up with Taylor over the past few months, you'll know that the superstar is now gearing up to release the highly anticipated Reputation (Taylor's Version) re-record. The original album was released in 2017, and was accompanied by the Reputation Stadium Tour. At the time, it was Taylor's biggest and highest grossing tour. ( The Eras Tour has completely eclipsed it now, though.)

The tour was professionally filmed and turned into a concert film that premiered exclusively on Netflix in 2018. But soon, fans will apparently no longer be able to watch it on the platform.

Here's everything we know about when the Reputation Stadium Tour is reportedly leaving Netflix.

When does the Reputation Stadium Tour leave Netflix?

Why is Taylor Swift's Reputation Stadium Tour leaving Netflix?

A list of Netflix titles – films, TV shows, documentaries and more – that are all scheduled to be removed from the streaming platform at the end of December 2023 has been published. According to several reports , Taylor Swift's Reputation Stadium Tour is amongst them.

According to the list, the Reputation Stadium Tour will reportedly be leaving Netflix on December 30th 2023, exactly five years after it premiered on the platform.

Needless to say, Swifties are absolutely devastated that the concert film may no longer be available to watch whenever they want. Some fans have already cancelled their Netflix subscriptions while others are hoping it appears on a new streaming platform as soon as possible.

Why is the Reputation Stadium Tour leaving Netflix?

Currently, there is no official confirmation about the concert film leaving the platform, where it premiered as a Netflix exclusive event. Nor is there any explanation as to why it's reportedly leaving.

Despite fans speculating that Taylor's Rep Tour movie is leaving Netflix due to Taylor calling out the platform over the sexist joke made in Ginny & Georgia at her expense, it's unlikely that is the reason why.

Other fans have theorised that it's leaving due to the streaming rights expiring, particularly given its departure on the 5 year anniversary of its release. Others also think it could have something to do with the upcoming release of Reputation (Taylor's Version) .

We'll just have to wait and see... This article will be updated with more information when it's made available.

Will the Reputation Stadium Tour be added to another streaming service?

If it does end up leaving the platform, it's currently unclear if Taylor will shop the Reputation Stadium Tour to other streaming services but there is a possibility that it could pop up somewhere else in the future.

Taylor is also soon set to begin shopping her Eras Tour concert film to streaming services, following its run in cinemas.

Taylor Swift's Reputation Stadium Tour Is Leaving Netflix New Year's Day, And You Need To Revisit It ASAP For These 5 Reasons

S wifties, what a time 2023 has been!! There’s no question in my mind that Taylor Swift’s 33rd year has been the most epic yet, between her phenomenon of a tour which was immortalized through the Eras Tour concert film to the re-releases of Speak Now and 1989 and all the viral moments associated with Swift and Travis Kelce’s blossoming relationship. It’s never been a better time to be a Swift fan, but come New Year’s Day, fans will be down one concert film once the Taylor Swift Reputation Stadium Tour movie becomes unavailable for Netflix subscribers. Time is ticking for you to get in one last viewing before it disappears!

As noted on Netflix, today is officially the last day to watch the 2018 concert film that brought Taylor Swift’s stadium tour for reputation home to Swifties. Here are five reasons why it’s worth rushing to the streaming service right now to check it out:

We Have No Idea Where It’s Going Once It Leaves

For starters, it’s a complete mystery right now regarding what’s actually happening with the Taylor Swift reputation Stadium Tour movie once it can no longer be watched with a Netflix subscription. The movie initially was released on December 31, 2018, so its last day on the streaming service actually coincides with it being there for five years. My best guess is that there was some sort of five-year contract on the Netflix original and for one reason or another, it was decided by either Taylor Swift’s team or Netflix to no longer host the movie.

While, in the past, it was unheard of for originals from a streaming service to be removed from its service, it’s become more and more common as of late. Other services like Max and Hulu, have removed content from their platform as a way to make money back because the artists and producers behind films and TV shows may get residuals for as long as a title is listed. I’d like to think Taylor Swift struck some smart deal that will allow her to surprise us on New Year’s Day with another method to view the movie but, since it’s a Netflix original, I’m not counting on it!!

The Acoustic Version Of “Dancing With Our Hands Tied” Is Spectacular

The stadium tour is all around really fantastic. I’d put it on par with the Eras Tour movie, except it’s focused primarily on the particular time in Taylor Swift’s career when reputation was the shiny new album in her life and she wanted to really showcase it to the best of her ability on stage. The two-hour movie features Swift belting out over twenty songs, including a performance of just about every single track from reputation .

One standout moment for me in this movie that you cannot find anywhere else is her acoustic version of “Dancing With Our Hands Tied.” The performance really made me think about the song in a whole new light and in my opinion, is even better than the recording. It’s a really gorgeous moment that is very unique to the Netflix release. (I’m really bummed it’s going away.)

The “Bad Blood” / “Should’ve Said No” Mashup Is To Die For

While it’s the reputation album that a fan is likely to have on repeat over a concert film, it’s really incredible to see the ways in which Taylor Swift presents the album on stage across six acts alongside her band and dancers. And that's because she doesn’t cut any corners. There are a lot of music cues she alters on stage, and so much of the choreography that is going on during each of the songs allows the viewer to find a deeper meaning in the songs (along with having the best time watching Swift feed off the crowd and vice versa).

My favorite example of a way that the movie does something new with the music occurs about halfway through when the songstress surprises attendees with a mashup of 1989 ’s “Bad Blood” with “Should’ve Said No” from her 2006 debut album. It’s a really empowering and jaw-dropping take on two of her older songs, and it’s an absolute blast to see her perform it in this movie.

If You’re Not Into The Reputation Era, This Movie Might Change Your Mind

When Taylor Swift launched the reputation era, it was a tumultuous time to be a Swiftie. For OG fans like me, at the time, the album actually alienated me completely, and I stopped listening to the artist for a while. For others, the album was actually the moment when they fell in love with the artist, after she dipped her big toe into pop with 1989 .

With that in mind, I think there are a lot of people who were on my side of the street who didn’t appreciate the era immediately. While the album slowly grew on me over time when I got back into the singer, this movie really made me fall in love with this era of the star's career. So, if it’s not been your cup of tea, 2024 could be the year you get into it, with the help of this movie!!

Reputation (Taylor’s Version) Is Expected To Come Out Very Soon

Lastly, while we don’t know exactly when Reputation (Taylor’s Version) is coming out, a lot of clues and not-so-subtle hints from Taylor Swift definitely point to it arriving very soon. So there’s no time like the present to get really amped for the next re-release from the iconic artist. By revisiting this Netflix movie before it’s gone (maybe forever), you’ll have a chance to see how the album was presented on a large scale when the album was released versus what changes she might make with her new version.

If you happen to miss the Taylor Swift reputation Stadium Tour movie, there are other avenues to see the singer on your TV screen. The Eras Tour is now available to rent, and you can check out her folklore movie on Disney+ along with her Miss Americana documentary on Netflix. We’ll keep you posted on upcoming Taylor Swift projects, and you can check out what 2024 Netflix movie and TV shows are coming soon to fill the void of the reputation movie’s untimely exit.

Taylor Swift is one of the biggest names in the music industry. Her 2022 album Midnights marked the tenth entry into her impressive discography and kickstarted the beginning of her Eras tour in March 2023. While on tour across the United States and Mexico, the 12-time Grammy winner pleasantly surprised fans on August 31 with an announcement of the Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour concert movie. Tickets went on sale (and immediately sold out) that same day.

Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour movie is clearly the hottest event of this fall season. Here is everything you need to know about it movie before heading to the theater.

What to know about Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (concert movie)

The Eras tour takes audiences on a captivating musical journey spanning all of Taylor Swift’s unique "eras", paying homage to each of her albums. These albums are 2006's Taylor Swift, Fearless in 2008, 2010's Speak Now, Red in 2012, 1989 in 2014, 2017's Reputation, Lover in 2019, 2020's Folkmore and Evermore, and Midnights in 2022. You can expect to witness her perform some of the most celebrated songs within her catalogue including "Love Story", "Blank Space", and "Anti-Hero."

The movie offers audiences the opportunity to experience the wildly anticipated concert they might not have had the chance to see in person. Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour movie filmed the initial trio of performances at SoFi Stadium in early August. As shown in the concert movie, this huge Los Angeles venue drew an astounding crowd of nearly half a million fans.

As the official concert movie for her Eras Tour, Taylor Swift wants fans to have an authentic concert experience when watching the movie in theaters. When she initially announced it on X, Taylor suggested  that fans should dress up in their best Eras attire, wear friendship bracelets and participate in singing and dancing, just like they would at a live show: "The Eras Tour has been the most meaningful, electric experience of my life so far and I’m overjoyed to tell you that it’ll be coming to the big screen soon.  Starting Oct 13th you’ll be able to experience the concert film in theaters in North America! Tickets are on sale now at http:// taylor.lnk.to/TSTheErasTourF ilm … . Eras attire, friendship bracelets, singing and dancing encouraged. 1, 2, 3 LGB!!!! (iykyk)"

Where can I watch Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour?

If you are in the united states:.

AMC theaters have entered into an exclusive agreement with Swift, allowing only their locations in the United States to screen The Eras Tour movie starting October 13. Canadian theaters will screen the movie as well.

Within minutes of theater tickets for Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour being released, the AMC app crashed with fans attempting to buy advance tickets for the movie. This marks the second instance this year where Swifties caused a major website to malfunction, with the first being during the sale for the actual Eras Tour itself. AMC is currently promoting exciting additions for your cinematic experience including Eras Tour-themed popcorn buckets for $14.99+tax and drink cups for $11.99+tax. Exclusive cardigans have, unfortunately, still not been announced.

If you are outside of the United States:

On Tuesday 26th September, 2023, tickets for the official Eras tour concert movie were announced in over 100 countries around the world. Taylor Swift made the announcement on Instagram, sharing that the film will be in theaters in those countries from October 13, 2023.

"The tour isn’t the only thing we’re taking worldwide…….. 🌎 Been so excited to tell you all that The Eras Tour concert film is now officially coming to theaters WORLDWIDE on Oct 13! Tickets available now at www.TSTheErasTourFilm.com or on your local theaters website!"

Tickets were available immediately after the Instagram post went live. AMC have struck a deal with sub-distribution partners for more than 7,500 movie theatres in order to show the film in theaters around the world. Across Europe, the concert movie will be playing at Odeon theaters. Odeon also announced a special pricing for the event:

"In a nod to Taylor Swift’s 1989 album and her favourite number, 13, tickets in the UK and Ireland will be priced at £19.89 / €19.89 for adults and £13.13 / €13.13 for children."

Will The Eras Tour be on Netflix?

Despite the concert movie's cinematic release on October 13, there has been no announcement about where to stream Taylor Swift: The Era Tour online. Until further notice, the movie is available exclusively in theaters. However, given the record-breaking demand for tickets, it is very likely fans will be able to watch The Eras Tour on streaming services after its theatrical run ends.

You can choose to get notified by JustWatch when a streaming release date is announced by heading to Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour and hitting the notification bell.

How long is Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour?

While an Eras Tour concert typically lasts over three hours on average, the official length of the concert movie is 2 hours and 40 minutes. This makes it much longer than previous Taylor Swift concert movies, such as Taylor Swift: Reputation Stadium Tour which is 2 hours and 5 mins.

Who is the director of Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour?

Grammy-nominated Sam Wrench is the director of the upcoming concert movie. He earned the coveted nomination for directing Billie Eilish Live At The O2 in 2023. Wrench is best known for his ability in capturing the electrifying essence of a live music event, having also worked on  Lizzo: Live in Concert and BTS: Permission to Dance on Stage - LA . He boasts an impressive resume filled with projects from some of the biggest names in the industry including Mary J. Blige, The Weeknd, Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande.

What records did Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour break?

Taylor Swift just keeps adding to her impressive list of record-breaking achievements. The Eras Tour movie shattered the record for the most money made from advance ticket sales in a single day at AMC Theaters, raking in a whopping $26 million. This surpasses the previous record-holder, 2021's  Spider-Man: No Way Home , by $10 million. Fans achieved this record-breaking feat in just three hours, beating  Avengers: Endgame 's record for the most tickets sold within the first 24 hours.

The Eras Tour movie is expected to have an incredible opening weekend, with a projected range of $100-125 million. The top five movies for the year's opening weekends include Barbie , The Super Mario Bros. Movie , Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse , Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania . These range between between $162 million to $106 million, which means the upcoming concert movie has the potential to have one of the best opening weekends of 2023.

Furthermore, the sudden announcement of the movie's release date caused other titles to change their release dates. The Exorcist: Believer , originally slated for the same day, will now premiere a week earlier. Producer Jason Blum playfully tweeted, "Look what you made me do. The Exorcist: Believer moves to 10/6/23.”

What are the other Taylor Swift concert movies?

For those who simply cannot calm down before the release of the movie, there have been a number of projects featuring exclusive access to Swift’s concerts that are available to watch right now. These include The 1989 World Tour Live, which was released on Apple Music in 2015, and 2018’s Taylor Swift: Reputation Stadium Tour which is available to stream on Netflix. There were also DVD releases of Taylor Swift: Journey to Fearless in 2010 and Speak Now World Tour – Live the following year.

Swifties alike must ultimately tolerate this Cruel wait with their Gorgeous Style they know Belongs to them. On the Bejeweled side, there are only a few weeks left before they are united by the greatest Love Story on the big screen: Taylor Swift with her Swifties. They are undeniably Ready For It.

Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour will be released in theaters on October 13, 2023.

The History Behind Netflix’s Shirley Chisholm Biopic

SHIRLEY the Netflix movie about Shirley Chisholm

W hile Shirley Chisholm made American history as the first Black woman presidential candidate, she is not a household name on par with figures like Martin Luther King, Jr. and Rosa Parks. Netflix hopes to change that with Shirley , a biopic focusing on Chisholm’s historic 1972 presidential run starring Regina King as the politician.

To prepare for the role, King immersed herself in archives and listened to tapes of Chisholm’s voice so she could capture her essence. Though Chisholm did not amass enough delegates at the Democratic National Convention to clinch the party’s nomination for President, she had a rewarding career in Congress mentoring Black politicians up until her death in 2005. Now, it remains to be seen whether the movie will inspire young people to run for office.

Here’s what to know about the politician’s historic presidential campaign and her biggest accomplishments.

Shirley Chisholm’s rise to power

Chisholm was born Shirley Anita St. Hill on Nov. 30, 1924, in Brooklyn, where she was raised by immigrant parents from Barbados—her father Charles, who worked in a burlap sack factory and her mother Ruby Seale, who did domestic work. A star student, Chisholm won scholarships to Vassar and Oberlin, but opted to attend Brooklyn College so she could live at home. She studied early childhood education at Teachers College, Columbia University, and taught nursery school for years. By 1959, she supervised ten day care centers in New York City.

After being active in several local Democratic clubs, she won a NY State Assembly seat in 1964. Four years later, she became the first Black woman to serve as a member of Congress. She stunned colleagues in the House when she demanded to be switched off the agriculture committee, as freshmen usually didn’t have much of a say in committee assignments. As TIME’s 1970 review of Chisholm’s autobiography paraphrased how her conversation with House Speaker McCormack went, "'If you do not assist me, I will have to do my own thing…It means I will do what I have to do, regardless of the consequences.’” After being reassigned to the Veterans Affairs committee, she joked, “there are a lot more veterans in my district than trees.” She kept climbing the ranks, and in 1977, she became the first Black woman—and only the second woman—on the influential Rules Committee.

Why Shirley Chisholm ran for President

Between the civil rights movement being front page news and the women’s rights movement ramping up in the early 1970s, Chisholm thought the time may be right for a presidential run. The Vietnam War was looking hopeless, and her anti-war speeches were resonating so much on college campuses that students were literally asking her to run. She had also been fielding queries about whether she would run while on a book tour to promote her 1970 autobiography.

In Netflix’s Shirley , Chisholm (Regina King) tells women in Florida if they raise money for her presidential run, she’ll throw her hat in the ring, and is shocked when advisors tell her the women raised $10,000—double the $5,000 goal. As King, playing Chisholm, explains why she’s running to her inner circle, “Who is representing the blacks? The women? The Chicanos? The youth? The working class?” That’s an accurate representation of the voters she was targeting—and add LGBTQ and immigrant communities to that list. In other words, Chisholm was trying to galvanize “people who had felt left out of politics,” says Anastasia C. Curwood, author of the biography Shirley Chisholm. (Curwood’s mother worked for Chisholm’s campaign in Massachusetts as a treasurer, and her father covered it as a journalist.)

In real life, Chisholm knew the nomination was a longshot, but hoped she could amass enough delegates to force presumptive nominee George McGovern to act in the interest of the coalition that supported her, according to Zinga A. Fraser, the director of the Shirley Chisholm Project at Brooklyn College and a historical advisor on Shirley . And as the Watergate scandal started to unfold, Chisholm grew to believe Nixon shouldn’t win another term in office, blaming him, in her autobiography, for "nearly every one of the deep-seated and tragic flaws of this society."

Shirley Chisholm’s legacy

Overall, Chisholm helped to increase social services during her 14-year career in Congress. She worked to expand the food stamp program and helped establish the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC). She also chaired the conference committee for a bill that would have provided universal childcare, but Nixon vetoed it.

Her presidential campaign ended up leading to one key legislative accomplishment. There’s a scene in Netflix’s Shirley in which Chisholm makes the politically risky move to visit segregationist George Wallace in the hospital after he’s shot. She had survived attempts on her own life as a politician, so she wanted to let him know she could relate. He didn’t forget her kindness, and ended up helping her get through legislation that raised the minimum wage for domestic workers in 1973. “He felt he owed her one,” says Curwood.

After her presidential campaign, Chisholm worked to make sure future Black politicians were set up for success by co-founding the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) and the National Congress of Black Women to mentor up-and-coming Black power brokers. Fraser calls the first Black U.S. President Barack Obama “a direct recipient of the legacy of Chisholm,” because his campaign was modeled after 1984 Democratic presidential candidate Jesse Jackson’s RAINBOW coalition, which Chisholm helped shape as a campaign advisor. Several of Chisholm’s mentees are depicted in the film, like Barbara Lee, the single mom Chisholm campaign worker who goes on to represent California in Congress. As Fraser puts it, “She opened up the political process for people who wouldn't think about running for office.”

Georgia Drops Effort to Cap Billion-Dollar Film Tax Credit

Georgia Capitol building

Georgia has dropped an effort to cap its billion-dollar film and TV tax credit, after the state House and Senate could not reach agreement on the issue.

Lawmakers have been working for nearly a year on proposals to rein in the incentive, which is the largest of any state in the nation. But the General Assembly adjourned its session early Friday morning without passing a bill on the subject out of both houses.

Legislators will now have to wait until the next session, beginning in January 2025, to address the issue.

“After much study and debate, the General Assembly has kept in place the tax credit policy that has served the state so well, working exactly as intended,” Kelsey Moore, the group’s executive director, said in a statement. “Our state leadership has sent a clear statement, literally across the world, that Georgia strongly supports the film industry.”

Georgia offers a 30% credit on film and TV production costs, which has been used to subsidize hundreds of productions, including Marvel movies like “Black Panther” and shows like “Stranger Things” and “The Walking Dead.” The credit has transformed Atlanta into a major production hub, competing not only with California and New York but also with the U.K. and Canada.

Unlike most other states, Georgia does not limit the total amount of credits that can be issued annually. As the program has surpassed $1 billion in recent years, some lawmakers have begun to worry that it poses a risk to the state’s finances.

In February, the state House of Representatives passed a measure that would cap the amount of credits that could be bought and sold each year.

The House bill faced pushback from owners of studio facilities who have invested hundreds of millions of dollars in new soundstages. They feared that such a cap would mean that companies like Disney and Netflix would no longer be guaranteed to be able to sell their credits.

Senate lawmakers were responsive to those concerns. Last week, the Senate Finance Committee approved the cap, but carved out major exceptions for projects shot at three large production facilities — Trilith Studios, Shadowbox Studios, and Assembly Atlanta.

The change created concerns for smaller studio facilities, who would face a disadvantage in competing for productions. Some lawmakers also believed that would render the cap irrelevant, because it would never be hit.

And it did not sit well with House leadership.

“Turning a fiscally responsible measure designed to protect Georgia taxpayers, considerate of all stakeholders, into a competitive advantage for three Atlanta-based film studios was not our objective,” said Rep. Shaw Blackmon, the chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, in an email early on Thursday. “And that’s what the Senate has done.”

Given the lack of consensus between the houses, the bill appeared to be dead heading into the final day of the session. But the House attempted to salvage the measure on Thursday by gutting another bill and amending it with a new version of the proposed cap.

The House measure would have capped the amount of credits that can be transferred at 2.5% of the state budget — or around $900 million next year — without exceptions for the large studios. That was the same as the original bill.

But the new version provided that the cap would be triggered only if the state’s reserve fund fell below 10% of total state revenues. In other words, if the state were hit with a severe economic downturn, it could activate a brake on the usage of film credits — essentially protecting the state from a run on the bank.

Such a cap would likely not be imposed any time soon. Reserves have soared in the last three years, reaching 45% of revenues in the 2023 fiscal year. The reserve fund fell below the 10% threshold only once since 2016.

The House approved the revised measure on a vote of 170-1 on Thursday evening. But the Senate adjourned without taking up the bill, effectively killing it for the year.

The Senate committee version also included a provision that would make residual compensation subject to Georgia income tax. That provision would have applied to writers, actors and directors who live out of state, but whose work is produced in Georgia.

That, too, was controversial.
