WEL COME TO   VALMIKI TIGER RESERVE

Valmiki Tiger Reserve forms the eastern most limit of the Himalayan Terai forests in India, and is the only tiger reserve of Bihar. Situated in the Gangetic Plains bio-geographic zone of the country, the forest has combination of bhabar and terai tracts.

Valmiki Tiger Reserve lies in the north-western most portion of West Champaran district of Bihar. Name of the district has been derived from two words Champa and Aranya meaning Forest of Champa trees. There are three distinct entry points to the Reserve.

Manguraha is the eastern entry point of VTR known for its wildlife and beautiful grassland, Manguraha is also famous for its Lalbhitiya sunset point where we can see the 3 storeys of beautiful sal forest. The place has historical importance for ‘Bhitiharwa Gandhi Ashram’ and ‘Rampurwa Ashoka Pillar. Besides these, religious place as Sofa Mandir & Sahodara Mandir are also places of attraction from religious point.

Valmikinagar is the north-western entry point of the Reserve. It was previously known as Bhainsalotan. It is situated along the southern bank of Gandak river, at the confluence point of Narayani, Pachnad and Sonaha rivers, also known as Triveni. Here also lies the Gandak Barrage and three ancient temples – Kouleswar, Jatashankar and Nar Devi. The tracts are hilly, traversed by different rivulets.

A newly opened park,with food outlets,the type is crazy and can't be recommended for weekends. Food is good there at reasonable prices and especially dosas are best sellers. Boating charges are reasonable but wait times are too much. The restaurant has just opened and the service is good going. Overall a nice place to hangout with kids and family.

Welcome to Rajgir Tourism

Rajgir is a city located in the Nalanda district of the Indian state of Bihar. It holds historical and religious significance and is known for its association with Buddhism and Jainism. Rajgir has a rich historical heritage and is closely associated with Lord Buddha. It was one of the favorite retreats of Buddha and served as his monsoon retreat (Vassa) for several years. Many important events in Buddha's life, such as the first Buddhist Council, were held in Rajgir. In addition to its Buddhist heritage, Rajgir is also an important site for Jains. It is believed that Lord Mahavira, the 24th Tirthankara of Jainism, spent some time here and gave sermons. There are several Jain temples and shrines in Rajgir, including the Jal Mandir, which is an important Jain pilgrimage site.

The primary purpose of the Rajgir Ropeway is to provide access to the hilltops where tourists and pilgrims can visit important sites, including Vishwa Shanti Stupa and other Buddhist monasteries and caves.

It is believed that Buddha spent a substantial part of the rainy season here, giving sermons and teaching his disciples.

Son Bhandar Caves

Son Bhandar Caves, also known as Son Bhandar or Swarna Bhandar Caves, are a set of ancient rock-cut caves located in Rajgir, in the Indian state of Bihar. These caves are historically and archaeologically significant, dating back to the Mauryan period, which spanned from the 4th to the 2nd century BCE. The caves are carved into a single massive rock and are known for their simple yet elegant architecture. They consist of two chambers, an antechamber, and a main chamber. What makes these caves particularly interesting is the presence of inscriptions in Brahmi script.

Bimbisara Jail

The Bimbisara Jail, also known as Bimbisara's Jail, is a historical site located in Rajgir, Bihar, India. It is associated with King Bimbisara, who was one of the early rulers of the Magadha region and a contemporary of Lord Buddha. According to Buddhist texts and historical accounts, King Bimbisara was imprisoned in this jail by his son, Ajatashatru, who usurped the throne. Ajatashatru was King Bimbisara's own son from a different queen and had a complicated relationship with his father. The exact reasons for Bimbisara's imprisonment vary in different accounts, but it is generally believed to have been a power struggle within the royal family.
