We did the Sunset Wine Tour! I can't recommend this tour enough! Such a beautiful winery! Our tour guide was very knowledgeable! Dinner was amazing! The wine delicious! This tour will be a highlight for any wine lover!
My wife and I did this tour earlier today and it was a very good experience with a couple of issues. The information sent to us suggested ordering train tickets on line which includes an extra fee and is not necessary as you can easily purchase the tickets at the Termini station just before you depart with no extra fee. Arrival in Frascati was a little disorganized at the train station pick up as the directions just said Marco will pick us up. When we arrived there was a woman representative on the platform with incorrect participant information including names and registrations. There was a little back and forth regarding if people are actually on the tour but it eventually got sorted out. One group went into a van and was taken to the winery while the other group waited for the van to return and take them to the winery. While waiting for the van we were treated to coffee at a local shop which was awesome! The tour itself was interesting but a bit confusing. The barrier to fully understanding the tour was the language. Yes English was spoken but half of it was difficult to understand. If we didn't understand something we asked other participants but no one understood! It is what it is, and understand the woman giving the tour was doing the best she could. For us, the tour was so interesting we just wish we understood all of it. The wine tasting was awesome albeit not understanding half of what was spoken but the presentation and the wines themselves were great. And the return to Frascati was great including a quick tour of the town and a lunch at a local restaurant. The tour guide in Frascati was easily understood and was also a lot of fun! All in all, this is a great day trip option for your Rome stay... wine country is just 45 minutes away!
I was so skeptical about this tour. I did the classic half day wine tour. For 55€, I was nervous about the price and if the quality of the tour would be worth it, but can I tell you! This tour was worth the money spent. First, you catch the train and meet with the tour guide. My tour guide was Max. He was super knowledgeable and had funny jokes throughout the tour. He's a local and has traveled to many countries outside of his town of Frascati. We take a little tour of the town and he gives some history and we went into some shops and the main church there. Next, we stopped into a bakery and sampled some cheap, house wine (as he calls it) that is saved for families to drink with some sweet cookies. We were instructed to dip the cookies in the wine. Delish! Prior to that we got a little same of roasted pork with the wine as a light snack. Then a taxi comes to pick us up and take the group to the vineyard. We tour the vineyard and take awesome pictures. There's an awesome view of Rome from the vineyard. We then went into the cellar where the wine is stored and got a very detailed tour of the underground and the winemaking process. Next, we enter the tasting room. We received 3 (1 white, q red , 1 dessert wine) quality Frascati wines paired with a white pizza, red sauce pizza and bread. Olive oil that they also make at the vineyard is on the table to sample. Throughout each wine tasting, Max teaches about the wine. Lastly! The taxi returned to take the group to have lunch at a local restaurant back in the town. We received an appetizer of arugula, sautéed zucchini, I think a sautéed mushroom and some meat. Then we got a small portion of a red sauce pasta and then a carbonara with bacon bits (they had pairings and lunch options for anyone who was vegetarian as well). I was just enough food to leave me satisfied. I really enjoyed this tour! The tour is from about 10:30am to 2pm (you can catch the 2:36pm train back to termini or stay and enjoy the town until about 9pm when the last train comes). The small group setting was great for a nice intimate tour, easy picture taking and getting all your questions in. There were 9 people in my group but the tour has a 15 person max. I booked this tour super last minute on my way from Spain and they were accommodating. My only con was email response was a bit slow. I just showed up in hopes I was confirmed. I'm so glad I went! I believe you can only pay in cash, so be mindful of that. Bottles of the red and white wines are 10€ and the dessert wine is 15€ (if I remember correctly). Wine purchases are in cash as well. But y'all, this tour made my trip! It was everything! Highly, highly recommend!

I loved the winery tour here. I came here on the last day of my Eurotrip and I didn't know what to expect. I thought the tour was more than I had imagined and service was amazing. What did I love? Well, they take you on a tour of the Frascati Town and take you around to sample the local delicacies such as porchetta sandwich and local homemade wine which can get you tipsy in seconds. They also tell you a bit of the history on the way. They pick you up at the train station so don't worry about getting lost. They also take you to the underground cave where they store their wine and the sampling is very intimate and generous. The tour guide is a doll, she is very kind and friendly. She's orginally from the states and moved there to be with her husband. They finish off at a local restaurant. May I say, the food there is outstanding. PLEASE do not miss out.

My husband and I wanted to go for a wine tasting tour in Italy -- so he searches on line and booked this place. We had some questions and reached out to the company, they responded right away with great detail! We booked it, and we were on our way! They give you very detailed information (where to take the train platform - arrive early!!). And it's amazing because it's only a 30 minute train ride from the middle of Rome, but Frascati feel totally different! You get away from the crazy tourism, the crowds and Frascati is this quiet, beautiful, quaint neighborhood with fresh air that seems like it's mostly locals. Once you get off the train stop, the wine tour leader meets you on the platform -- they make it very convenient. Paula is very sweet, approachable, and was so welcoming! We start walking around Frascati, and Paula gave us a brief history of the city as we are walking through the churches and restaurants, with the World War 2 involvement. We got to see some of the ruins, or the church that was around during the time. We stop by a local bakery -- one of the oldest bakeries in Frascati where they make bread from the old furnaces, and a bakery where they make the porchetta sandwiches. We got little samples of the sandwich and some bread! Also - fun side note -- I believe the porchetta came from this region, so make sure to check it out if you like pork. They have little stands that sell it! Then we got picked up by vans that take us to the actual winery. Not a far drive but you notice right away the air quality is so fresh, and the winery is a little higher up in altitude, so you get a great view! It's also very lush and gets a lot of rain. You get a quick tour of the grapes outside -- they let you eat the grapes before they are picked! And then you get to walk down to the caves (underground) because that is where they used to store the wines. It gets pretty dark (but it's fairly lit), but definitely pretty cold down there. It's pretty cool though cause they definitely do not have any caves like that anymore! You get to see the old machines they used to make the wines, and you get to meet this older gentleman who grew up making all the wine! It has been in his family for generations, and he grew up making wine! He doesn't even speak English, but the tour guides translates everything for you. Afterward, we go upstairs, and they let you try the wines and olive oil. Paula does a good job explaining the wines, and definitely generous with her servings. It's pretty cool if you get a good group. A lot of our group was from the U.S., so we got to meet a lot of different people! Good wine and good company was definitely the highlight of our tour! Afterward, you get back in the van, and they take you back towards the downtown area and drops you off at the restaurant. Lunch was fine -- fresh pasta, so it was good! And some of the ham and cheese. You also pay at the tour (no payment necessary to reserve your spot for the tour), and we ran out of cash, but Paula let us pay her at lunch because it's next to an ATM! 55 euros per person for the 1/2 day wine tour! My friend told me the full day wine tour is great as well! Cons: Once you are done with lunch, make sure you take the first train back to Rome, or else the whole city shuts down for siesta!! I wanted to walk around and take the next train back (1 train per hour), but we walked around for 20 minutes, and there is literally NOTHING open other than a local grocery store. So either do the full day wine tour, or take the first train back!!
If your on the fence about his tour do it , it was so much fun good food and wine and you'll learn a lot about the history of the area in a fun way. When i return in a few months I'm taking the tour again
We had a great time on the Old Frascati Wine Tour. Getting to Frascati was quick and easy and the town was beautiful! Our tour guide was awesome and told us lots of tidbits about the town's history. She took us around the town and to the local bakery where we were able to sample porchetta and wine. We then went to the vineyard, which was beautiful, and sampled a few wines with treats from the local bakery. The Frascati wine is amazing! We were very happy with everything. Lunch is included in the tour as well. It was such a nice break from the hustle and bustle of Rome. I highly recommend this tour!
This little (wine) tour exceeded my expectations. I knew I wanted to explore some of the wine country close to Rome, but most of what I found was bus tours that drive by all the sites before plopping you at the vineyard. This intimate tour allowed us to really explore and get a feel for the town before going out to the vineyard and the vineyard (wine caves!!) were SO cool. And there was A LOT of food throughout the day. Lunch was an interesting group experience, all at one big table, so a cool opportunity to talk and share stories with fellow travelers, all to finish up and make our way back to Rome at our leisure
Frascati is a wonderful little hill town outside Rome. The tour starts there..... a walking tour, a few snacks, some wine .... quick drive down to a family-run vineyard with lots of history and a great host, more food, more wine ..... back to town, short walk, more food, more wine .... this is the way to go. The wine was quite good, BTW, and the tour guide very pleasant. This is definitely worth the short train ride.
Fantastic tour given by Paola. She's fun, interesting, knowledgeable and really explained to our group the history of the town and it's delights. The wine is delicious and the food tasty. Highly recommend!

- JUST A FEW HELPFUL TIPS TO TAKE YOUR TRAIN TO FRASCATI ( to TOR VERGATA for tours starting only on SATURDAY) : - Train to Frascati leaves from Rome Termini MON-FRI at 9:49AM //SUNDAY 9:54AM. Your driver Marco will meet you in front of the FRASCATI train station at 10:20 ( you have to exit the train station, and outside you'll see the driver) For tours starting on SATURDAY, the starting point is the Tor Vergata train station (please exit the train station, and outside you'll see the driver). Train leaves from Roma Termini to Tor Vergata at 10:14 AM. - Make sure you get to Roma Termini station early; in Rome, buses, taxis & subways are often late. - You can buy your train tickets in advance on the trenitalia.it website, or from the ticket machines inside the train station. For the return trip, you can buy your tickets directly at the Frascati train station when you are ready to return to Rome after lunch. One round trip ticket cost 4.20 euro. - I do recommend getting to the train station in Rome early since the train to FRASCATI sometimes departs from the platforms that are way in the back of the station and take 5 minutes to walk to from the front of the station. - Show your train tickets to security to gain access to the train platforms; - Remember to stamp your tickets to validate them; For any question please call +39 3313326990 ( also whatsapp )
