Seismos Fitness Center

Located in the northwest wing of the Commons, our 7,000 square-foot gymnasium features a full-sized basketball court and bleacher seating for command tournament games or larger group fitness PT classes.

The Commons

Something is always shaking at The Commons! This state-of-the-art, 63,000 square foot building houses a fitness center and pool, food court, Vibes Liberty Lounge with movie lounge, gaming room, music sound room and Cyber Cafe, Community Recreation Office, consolidated club and banquet/ballroom, and banking services all rolled into one complex.

Tremors Neighborhood Sports Bar

Tremors Neighborhood Sports Bar, NAVSTA Everett's own watering hole, is a place to unwind after work, watch sporting events or get together with friends. Open to authorized patrons 18 years of age and older.

Tsunami Pool

Our pool features eight, 25-yard lanes and ranges from 4-feet to 13-feet in depth. Employing a salt-water purification system, the Tsunami Pool is less harsh than other local swimming pools.

Twin Lakes provides some of the best fishing and boating opportunities in the Puget Sound Basin. Both upper and lower lakes offer approximately 35 acres each of natural freshwater trout fishing. Twin Lakes' Upper and Lower Lakes are open from May 1 - September 30 for day use and are accessible by car or on foot.

Vibes Liberty Lounge

Vibes is located on the second floor of The Commons and serves E1-E5 active duty, single service members and geographical bachelors only. Vibes includes a television viewing area with leather recliners and large flat panel TVs, pool table, shuffleboard table, Cyber Cafe and resource center.

Bangor Aquatics Center

The Bangor Pool is located inside the Bangor Fitness & Aquatics Center in Bldg. #2700. The Bangor swimming pool is a 10-lane lap pool with 6 Lanes dedicated to lap swimming during operation hours.

Camp McKean Recreation Area

Camp McKean is located five miles west of Naval Base Kitsap Bremerton along the Kitsap Lake shoreline. The park is primarily for summer day use in support of Navy commands and authorized Fleet & Family Readiness patrons.

The mission of our program is to assist Naval Base Kitsap Afloat Commands with fitness and recreational support while in port and at sea. To accomplish this mission, Deployed Support provides a wide range of services and equipment.

Elwood Point Recreation Area

Elwood Point is located within The Landings on Bremerton's scenic Ostrich Bay. This waterfront park features walking paths, a playground, picnic areas, a covered BBQ picnic pavilion, a softball field, basketball, tennis and volleyball courts.

Fleet Recreation Center

The Fleet Recreation Center is located at the head of Pier Delta. It is open to all Active Duty service members. Active Duty may escort up to two guests, as long as they are 18 or older. Non-military personnel has authorized access to Espresso and snack bar.

Keyport Fitness Center

The Keyport Fitness Center is located at NUWC Keyport, Building 198. The unmanned facility offers the best in cardio and strength fitness equipment, basketball and racquetball courts.

Liberty Center, Bangor

Liberty Center, Bangor is located inside Bangor Plaza, next to the Inside Out Cafe. It is open to all active-duty service members. Active Duty may escort up to two guests, as long as they are 18 or older.

Costen-Turner Recreation Area

This expanse of land is named for Lt. Tom Costen and Lt. Charlie Turner of VA-155, whose A-6 Intruder was shot down over Iraq on the first night of Desert Storm. The park was dedicated in 1995.

Disc Golf Course

The 18-hole disc golf course offers a new and innovative way to explore Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, with a little competition. The course starts and ends at PSD, located across the parking lot from the Convergence Zone Recreation Center.

Fidalgo Pool (Partnership)

Naval Base Kitsap (NBK) is located on the Kitsap Peninsula in Washington, US. The base was established in 2004 by combining Naval Station Bremerton and Naval Submarine Base Bangor. NBK supports surface ships, fleet ballistic missiles and nuclear submarines homeported at Bremerton and Bangor.

The base is the largest naval facility in Navy Region Northwest. It includes installations at Bremerton, Bangor and Keyport. The base received the 2005 Commander in Chief’s Award for Installation Excellence – the Best Base in the US Navy. It also won the Presidential Energy Management Award in 2009 for its energy and water conservation management.

The Naval Station Puget Sound in Bremerton was established in September 1891 and became a naval shipyard in the early 1900s. The shipyard built sub-chasers, minesweepers, ammunition ships, submarines, ocean-going tugs and small craft during World War I. The shipyard was the only West Coast warship repair facility until 1941.

The shipyard repaired and modernised the five surviving warships damaged in the attack on Pearl Harbour. It repaired, overhauled and refitted hundreds of US and Allied forces ships during World War II and accommodated a wartime workforce of over 32,000 personnel by 1945. It also converted old aircraft carrier flight decks to an angular design during the 1950s.

The shipyard entered a new era of construction by building the KING and COONTZ classes of guided missile frigates in 1957.

Naval activities at Bangor commenced in 1942 when it was used as a site for transporting ammunition to the Pacific Theatre of Operations in World War II. The US Navy later acquired 3,100ha of land on the Hood Canal near Bangor to establish a permanent base. A US Naval ammunition magazine was established in June 1944. It began operations in January 1945. The base continued as a US Navy ammunition depot until 1973.

In 1973, the Bangor base was selected as a home port for the first squadron of the Ohio-class of Trident ballistic missile submarines. The Trident submarine base was officially opened in February 1977. Naval Station Bremerton and Naval Submarine Base Bangor are now part of Naval Base Kitsap, which includes the Strategic Weapons Facility Pacific. The facility provides maintenance, spare parts and stores the nuclear warheads of the Trident ballistic missile.

Naval Base Kitsap operations

NBK is the host command for the naval fleet across West Puget Sound. The base supports a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, two Military Sealift Command combat logistic ships, one submarine tender and 14 submarines of all three classes of the US Navy. NBK is the only base to host three classes of nuclear powered submarines.

Garrison facilities

Bremerton has nine piers with a total of 3,752m of deepwater mooring space. Individual berths measure from 213m to 417m with alongside depths ranging from 9.1m to 13.4m. All piers pointed north to south have a height of 17ft above tide level. The Puget Sound shipyard features six dry docks.

The Sinclair Inlet provides four mooring buoys. The nearest assigned anchorage lies north-west of Blake Island in Puget Sound. PSNS Bremerton does not have a designated fleet landing for ships using the anchorage.

The SUBASE Bangor has four separate pier complexes including KB Docks, Delta Pier, Marginal Pier and Explosives Handling Wharf.

Marginal Pier South and Delta Pier North and South are used to berth Trident submarines. Explosives Handling Wharf and the drydock on Delta Pier serves a similar purpose.

Other facilities

The Naval Base Kitsap offers childcare programmes, housing initiatives, and homeport and physical readiness programmes. The Jackson Park Housing area features over 800 family houses, a recreational area and a DON Child Development Centre.

Educational Field Trips and Tours

Schedule an educational field trip to a solid waste facility, a sewer facility, or a stormwater project site. 

 ​Kitsap County’s Olympic View Transfer Station (OVTS)

​​This facility receives and processes all solid waste (garbage) from both commercial and private haulers in Kitsap and North Mason Counties. At the OVTS facility, solid waste is compacted into 30-ton bales, loaded into metal shipping containers, and placed onto the railroad for transport and disposal at the Columbia Ridge Sanitary Landfill in Arlington, Oregon.

 Kitsap County Household Hazardous Waste Facility

The facility accepts and safely packages household and small business hazardous waste for proper management.

​​ Kitsap County Central Kitsap Wastewater Treatment Plant

​This facility treats wastewater in the central area of Kitsap County. The treatment plant serves the cities of Silverdale, Keyport, and Poulsbo, the Central Kitsap area, the Naval Submarine Base Bangor, and the Naval Undersea Warfare Engineering Station at Keyport. An average of over 3 million gallons of wastewater is treated here each day.

Kitsap County Kingston Wastewater Treatment Plant

​This facility receives sewage from residential and light commercial activities in Kingston. After wastewater is treated, effluent is discharged into Puget Sound approximately 1 mile from the shoreline at a depth of 165 feet below mean low water.

Kitsap County Manchester Wastewater Treatment Plant

This facility treats domestic sewage from residential and light commercial activities in the Town of Manchester. In addition, the facility receives wastewater from the Manchester State Park, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) laboratory in Manchester, and the Manchester Naval Fuel Depot. The effluent is discharged 880 feet from the shoreline of Puget Sound at a depth of 60 feet below the mean low water.

​ ​Kitsap County Suquamish Wastewater Treatment Plant

​This facility treats wastewater from residential and light commercial activities in the town of Suquamish, and the Clearwater Hotel and Resort Casino. The treatment plant effluent is discharged into Port Madison Bay, Puget Sound. The effluent is discharged approximately 2,300 feet offshore at a depth of 43 feet below mean low water.

​ ​Manchester Stormwater Park (qaq'ad)

This park, once the site of contaminated soils from an old gas station, collects and treats runoff from the uphill neighborhoods. The runoff is then discharged into Puget Sound at Pomeroy Park. Students participate in a visual scavenger hunt to learn how the park treats runoff. You can have lunch at Pomeroy Park, weather permitting. This field trip may be combined with a tour of the Manchester Sewer Plant for an all-day option.

 ​Salmon Haven at Dickerson Creek

​One of the most productive salmon streams in Kitsap County, this is a great site for a fall field trip to see salmon return. As an added bonus, schedule a Stormwater Program Educator to meet your class and share information about the stream restoration project completed here in 2016.

​ ​Bainbridge Disposal Transfer Station

City of Bremerton Wastewater Treatment Plant
