Asia is rapidly becoming one of the world's most popular vacation destinations, thanks to the wide variety of activities and adventures available to travelers. Visit one of Asia's man-made wonders like the Great Wall or Angkor Wat. Explore one of the ancient cities or sacred temples scattered throughout the region's beautiful landscape. Enjoy the seamless marriage of ancient tradition and modern convenience with a visit to a bustling Asian metropolis like Hong Kong, Tokyo or Bangkok. Or, just relax on one of the beautiful beaches of Southeast Asia. Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia all offer pristine beaches, with white sand and crystal water.

Asian cruises present a rich tapestry of ancient traditions, interesting cultures and breathtaking sights. Climb aboard an Asian cruise and discover this complex and fascinating region for yourself.

  • Asia cruises are typically 4 to 25 nights in length, but longer cruises are offered.
  • Asia cruises depart from major cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Bombay, Bangkok and Hong Kong. A few will depart from Australia and Alaska as they reposition to new cruise regions. Since you'll need to fly a very long distance to reach your port of departure, we suggest that you arrive at the port city at least one or two days in advance of your Asia cruise. This will give you time to rest and get oriented before boarding the ship. Most cruise lines offer pre-cruise hotel packages.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) — Two crew members on a Holland America cruise ship died during an “incident” in the ship’s engineering space, the cruise line said.

The unidentified crew members died Friday while the Florida-based Nieuw Amsterdam was at Half Moon Cay in the Bahamas, Holland America said in a statement.

Authorities were notified and the cause of the accident is being investigated, the cruise line said. Crew members were being offered counseling.

“All of us at Holland America Line are deeply saddened by this incident and our thoughts and prayers are with our team members’ families at this difficult time,” the statement said. “The safety, security and welfare of all guests and crew are the company’s absolute priority.”

The cruise line did not offer any further details about the crew members. It later said the Bahamas Maritime Authority was leading the investigation. The ship set sail out of Fort Lauderdale on March 16 for a seven-night trip.

Disney Cruise Line reveals new 'Heroes and Villains' themed cruise ship coming in 2025

Disney Cruise Line will add another new ship in 2025.

The line will take delivery of the Disney Destiny next year, the brand announced Wednesday.

The vessel will have a “Heroes and Villains” design theme, with the cruise line and Walt Disney Imagineering teams drawing inspiration from “the dynamic duality of every great Disney story, where opposing forces of light and dark drive characters to rise to their purpose,” according to a news release .

Onboard experiences will feature characters from stories such as “Hercules, “The Lion King,” and “One Hundred and One Dalmatians,” though the line has not yet shared additional specifics about the amenities or the ship's maiden voyage. An illustration on the bow will show Minnie Mouse "striking a valiant pose in a heroic ensemble, her cape waving majestically in the sea breeze as she boldly leads guests toward their vacation destinies,” the line added.

“The Disney Destiny will celebrate our most legendary Disney stories and characters, bringing them to life in new and exciting ways exclusively for Disney Cruise Line guests,” Sharon Siskie, the line’s senior vice president and general manager, said in the release. “As we continue to expand our fleet, the Disney Destiny will further strengthen our position as a leader in family cruising as we offer even more ways for families to experience Disney magic and world-class service at sea.”

Are cruise drink packages worth it?: Not necessarily

The vessel will be a sister ship to the Disney Wish and the upcoming Disney Treasure, the latter of which will set sail in December. The cruise line will also add another ship, the Disney Adventure , in 2025, which will homeport in Singapore and mark the brand’s first to sail in Southeast Asia.
