A Singapore visa may be required for individuals who wish to enter the country for work, business or a holiday. Depending on their nationality, citizens of nearly 80% of the countries in the world can travel to Singapore for 30 days or 90 days, without a visa.

The citizens of the remaining countries, holding normal passports, are divided into two groups- Assessment Level 1 & Assessment Level 2. Citizens of Assessment Level 1 qualify for a Singapore e-visa, while those from Level 2 countries must obtain a visa in advance through a local contact or a diplomatic mission.

Visa requirements for Singapore

After you present yourself at an immigration counter at your port of entry in Singapore, you must meet the following basic requirements in order to be considered for visiting the country:

• Passport with at least six months of validity.
• Proof of funds during the stay.
• A confirmed onward/return air ticket.
• A yellow fever vaccination certificate where applicable. (Learn more here .)
• A valid Singapore entry visa* (if applicable).
• SG Arrival Card. (This is an electronic admission card, required in place of the paper Disembarkation/ Embarkation paper card. Must be submitted before travel. Learn more about the SG arrival card requirement here .)

*Citizens of most countries, including the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Latin America, and the majority of European countries, do not need a visa. 

Please note that unless you satisfy the basic entry requirements, you may not be granted entry into Singapore even if you have a valid visa

How to apply for a Singapore visa

The visa application form can be downloaded from the government website or collected from any overseas Singapore embassy. You can also apply for a visa through an online visa agency or any Singapore citizen who is your local contact via the SAVE system. If approved, a copy of the e-visa can be sent to you and you can print it out.

The other documents needed for a business or tourist visa are:

• Valid passport with at least six months of validity on the date of arrival in Singapore.
• Form 14A is signed by the applicant.
• Two passport-size photographs 35mm x 45mm without borders and not more than three months old. Should be taken against a white background with no shadows.
• Additional documents (Form V39A) may be asked for depending on case to case basis. (Please note that the local contact must be a permanent resident or citizen of Singapore at least 21 years of age.)
• Information about the occupation.
• Accommodation information.
• Your confirmed travel dates.

Once you have applied to an authorized visa agent, you will get a reference number. You can then track your application and print your e-visa when it has been approved.

(Note: In case your visa is rejected, you can make an appeal within one month from the date of rejection. The processing time for an appeal is generally 14 working days depending on merit)

Processing time of Visas

The processing time for a visa is 3-8 business days after the date of submission. This excludes weekends and public holidays.

Visa processing fee

The processing visa to be submitted with every application for a Singapore visa is the equivalent of S$30. This processing fee is non-refundable irrespective of whether your application is approved or not or if withdrawn after submission.

When to submit the application

It is advised to submit the application for an entry visa at least 30 days prior to the intended date of arrival in Singapore in the peak season and seven days in advance during the off-season.

Types of Singapore Visas

• Business visa/ Work visa(B)&(E): This visa is given to those people who are seeking employment or want to start a business in Singapore. It is usually referred to as an Employment or Entrepreneur Pass. (Valid for up to six months, more than six and up to one year, or more than one year up to five years. Single/ Multiple entries)
• Visitor or Tourist visa(T) : A tourist visa is required for some nationalities. (Stay period 30 days. Validity up to two years.)
• Study visa(S): A student visa or Student’s Pass is issued if one wants to study in Singapore. (Valid for five years or course duration, whichever is less)

Overstay cases can face strict legal action as per immigration laws and travelers with such a history may not get a Singapore visa again.

Before you can do any of that, though, you'll need a visa to enter the country. While only tourists from certain countries need a visa to enter Singapore, all foreign students and workers need a pass.

Getting a Tourist Visa

• Tourists from most former Soviet nations, most Middle Eastern nations, many African countries, some eastern European countries, India, and Russia must secure a visa before entering Singapore.
• Chinese tourists must also secure a tourist visa. This includes visitors from Hong Kong and Macau.
• Check the Ministry website to find out if tourists from your country are required to get visas.

• You will need your passport. If you' don't have a passport that will be valid for at least 6 months beyond the last day of your visit, get or renew that before you apply for your visa.
• The form must be completed in full and signed by the applicant before it can be processed.

• Form V39A is issued and signed by a local contact. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs defines a local contact as a Singapore citizen or permanent resident who is at least 21 years old.
• If you do not have a local contact in Singapore, visit your nearest Singapore Embassy or Consulate to request they issue your letter of introduction to support your application.

• Singapore reserves the right to request additional documentation on a case-by-case basis. One of the most common additional requests is for proof of ability to financially support yourself during your stay (bank statements, pay stubs, etc.).

• You will need a high-quality scan of your Form 14A to submit your online application.
• You need to pay your application fee using a Visa or Mastercard credit or debit card.

• The S$30 application fee must be paid by money order or in exact cash.
• If you are not close enough to your Embassy or Consulate to visit in-person, you may submit your application via a visa agency. Always get an acknowledgment of submission from the agency before turning over your documents.
• It can take up to 10 business days from the day the application is received for the Embassy or Consulate to process your request. Try to submit your application a month before your departure in case additional documentation is requested.

Securing a Student Visa

• To register, you will need a registration acknowledgment letter from your school or study abroad program. The letter will have your SOLAR+ application number on it, which lets you build your account.
• The SOLAR+ application is broken down by type of school., such as public, private, foreign, technical institute, etc. Make sure you fill out the application for your intended school type.
• If you're confused about registration, talk to an administrator for your program. They can give you the specific details you need to ensure you fill out the right type of application.

• University student and students studying abroad from countries that require visas for entry may be called for an interview after they submit their application.

• For this application, you will need your personal contact information, your passport information, basic financial information that can be found on bank statements, and the registration information provided to you by your school or program in Singapore.
• Once you've submitted the online application, you'll need to print out a copy of the eForm that auto-populates from your SOLAR+ application (eForm 16) to submit to the Student Pass unit of the Immigration & Checkpoint Authority (ICA).
• When you submit your eForm, you will also have to pay an application processing fee of S$30.

Receiving a Work Visa

• An Entrepreneur Pass (EntrePass). This pass is for owners of companies newly incorporated in Singapore who wish to relocate to Singapore to run the company. To qualify for an EntrePass, businesses must pass government-imposed "innovativeness" conditions.
• A Personalised Employment Pass (PEP). This pass is for those making at least S$18,000 a month who are coming into management, executive, or specialist positions.
• An S Pass. This pass is for mid-level workers making at least S$2,200 a month. An S pass is sponsored by your employer, so the company sponsoring you must apply on your behalf.
• A Work Permit. Work permits are for semi-skilled employees in high-need areas such as marine construction, manufacturing, and service sector jobs. These permits are also sponsored by employers.

• In addition, your employer will have to take several steps in preparation for your arrival, including by healthcare insurance for you, if you receive an applicable pass.

• When you go to get fingerprinted, you will also need to bring your passport, your appointment letter, your in-principle acceptance letter, and any documents listed in your letter. These can all be handed over to your MOM agent during your appointment.

• Your card generally arrives within 4 business days after you register your fingerprints and documents.
• Once you receive your card, you should keep it on you at all times as a form of ID when you're in Singapore.

When to apply for Singapore Visas

Singapore Entry Requirements

A Singapore Entry Visa is your pre-permission pass to request entry into Singapore. Once you are approved for a Singapore Visa to travel to Singapore, you must then obtain the permission to enter Singapore. Before ICA can consider you for entry into Singapore, you must meet the following basic requirements:

• A Singapore Entry Visa
• A submitted SG Arrival Card: All travelers are required to submit their health declaration information to ICA, within three days before their arrival in Singapore. You can apply via the SG Arrival Card e-Service or through a “SG Arrival Card” mobile application. Please note that the SG Arrival Card is not a visa or pass to enter Singapore.
• Sufficient funds for your stay
• Confirmed onward airline ticket (if applicable)
• A yellow fever vaccination certificate, if coming from a country with risk of yellow fever transmission (listed here ).

To be permitted entry into Singapore, you must obtain a Singapore Visit Pass. As of 10 October 2021, all foreign nationals arriving to Singapore by air will be emailed a digital Visit Pass (e-Pass), which substitutes a passport entry stamp. Your digital e-Passes will state the maximum duration period you are allowed to stay in Singapore. Please note that the duration stay period of your entry pass is different than the validity period of your entry visa. Some countries may be eligible for Visa-Free Transit Facilities (VFTF), a visa-free 96-hour transit in Singapore. Eligible countries include Georgia, India, China, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and the Commonwealth of Independent States.

• You must sign the document yourself. When you arrive at the entry port in Singapore, the ICU could ask you to submit it.

Step 2: Visa Application Fee

The application fee must be paid when submitting your visa application. The Singapore tourist visa fee is non-refundable, regardless of the application's outcome or if you choose to withdraw it after submission.

Step 3: Document Submission

Step 4: Track your Application

Once you've applied for a visa through an authorised agent and have your application reference number, you can easily check your application status and print your e-Visa by following these simple steps:

• Visit the Singapore Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) website at www.ica.gov.sg  
• On the ICA homepage, scroll down to the 'e-Services and Forms' section and click on 'Apply Entry Visa (Time needed: 15-20 mins).'
• Scroll further and click on 'Enquiry Application Status.'
• Enter your Visa Reference Number and Applicant's Travel Document Number.
• If your application is approved, click on 'Print e-visa' to get a copy of your e-Visa.

Visa application reference number is generated on the acknowledge page when a visa is successfully submitted.

If you've already been issued a valid visa but can't find your e-Visa copy, you can follow the same steps above to print it. Alternatively, you can reach out to the Authorised Visa Agent through whom you applied for assistance.

Step 5: Processing Time

Your visa application typically takes up to 3 working days (excluding the submission day) if all your documents are in order.

Step 6: Outcome of Application

The Authorised visa agents through whom  you have submitted your application will inform you of your application's status. You can also check your visa application status yourself using Reference and Travel document number from the official  e-Visa online portal .

Yes, you have the option to submit your application online through a resident or a local contact in Singapore who has a valid SingPass . 

Make sure your Singapore local contact has a Singpass ID and password ready. If they don't have one, they can register for Singpass on their official website .

The local contact should be a Singapore citizen (SC) or a permanent resident (PR) aged at least 21 years old. For business visit visa applications, if you're attending business negotiations or discussions, the local contact must represent a Singapore-registered business.

Outlined below are the necessary steps for your local contact in Singapore to complete your visa application online:

Step 1: Start Your Visa Application

Visit the Entry Visa application website and Login using your Singpass ID and password, or scan the QR code with the Singpass app.

Step 2: Draft Applications

• Save draft applications for later editing or submission.
• Up to seven applications can be saved.
• To edit or delete a draft, click on the applicant's name.
• To create a new application, click on "Create New Application".

Step 3: Submitting Applicant's Details

• Enter applicant's particulars.
• Save the page by clicking "Save".
• Proceed to the next page after filling mandatory fields by clicking "Next".

Step 4: Additional Applicant Information

Enter any additional details about the applicant and If the applicant's Visa Type Group is "SOCIAL", fill in the Local Contact's details.

Step 5: Uploading Applicant Photo

Upload the applicant's photo by clicking "Browse" and then "Next".

Step 6: Application Preview

• Read and agree to the declaration by selecting the checkbox.
• Click "Submit" to confirm the application.
• Proceed to the payment selection page.

Step 7: Payment Summary

Choose your payment method and Download or print the Tax Invoice/Receipt for your records. After successful application and payment, save the acknowledgement page as a PDF. You'll need the Visa reference number for future reference.

Step 8: Checking Application Status

Visit the SAVE website.

Click on "Enquire Application Status" to check your Visa application status.

Download or print the e-Visa or notification slip if approved.

If your application is approved, your local contact can use the e-Service to print a copy of your e-Visa for you.

The fee for a Singapore tourist visa application is SGD 30 (INR 1,800). Additionally, there's a fixed service charge of INR 650 per visa application imposed by the Authorised Visa Agents, in addition to the visa fee of INR 1,800. The Singapore tourist visa price for Indians are non-refundable and must be paid upfront when submitting your application, regardless of its outcome.

Singapore visa applications take 3 to 5 working days to process, excluding the submission date, weekends, and public holidays.

If you're planning a group trip, it's best to start your application earlier, ideally 10 days, to ensure there's enough time for processing. And during peak seasons start your application at least two to four weeks early (for both group or individual applications).

Visa Application

Taiwan Passport Holders do not require a visa to enter Singapore for business visits or for social visits for up to 30 days. Other foreign nationalities can check  here .

There are two ways to apply for an entry visa if you require one:

• In-person at the Singapore Trade Office . Visa applicants will be accepted and processed within 3-5 working days only when all the following documents are in order. Otherwise, your application may be delayed or rejected. Please note that some applications may take longer to process. 
• Duly completed Form 14A , signed by the applicant.
• Valid passport with at least six months validity on the date of entry into Singapore and a copy of your passport biodata page.
• Taiwan Resident Certificate (i.e. ARC or APRC) and a copy (both sides)
• One passport size photograph taken within the last three months.
• Copy of air ticket showing flight itinerary to and from Singapore

Some applications may also require additional supporting documents, such as:

• Form V39A , also known as the Letter of Introduction (LOI) from a local contact
• Copy of the local contact’s NRIC (both sides)
• Computer printout of the Singapore Business entity’s details from the ACRA
• Bank account statement as proof that you have sufficient funds for your stay in Singapore

The Singapore Trade Office will contact you via email when your application has been successfully submitted for processing.  

Important notes for all entry visa applications:

• The visa processing fee charged upon visa application is non-refundable regardless of the outcome of the application or if you withdraw the application after submission.
• Possession of a visa does not guarantee entry into Singapore. The granting of entry into Singapore is determined by the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) officers at the point of entry. 
• The validity of the visa refers to the period where the holder may seek entry into Singapore. The duration of stay is determined by ICA officers on duty at the respective checkpoints and is not tied to the validity of the visa.

From 11 March 2022, all foreign visitors arriving in Singapore will be notified digitally of their Visit Pass (e-Pass) through email. There will not be any endorsement on your passport. The e-Pass notification will indicate the period of stay granted and last day of stay allowed.
