A zoo is a place where animals and birds are kept for public display. We, the three friends, went to the Alipore Zoo, Kolkata. We saw two elephants, tied with iron chains by their hind legs. The visitors offered them bananas or nuts which they gladly accepted and swallowed. We were greatly amused to see the huge animals from so near.

Then we visited the bird’s section. There were hundreds of birds. They were of various colours and had lovely plumage (feathers). Their chirping produced soft music. The twittering of sparrows was very pleasant to the ear. At some distance, there was a big pool of water. Many ducks and swans were swimming gracefully in it. We also saw a tank which contained small fishes of fine colours.

Then we came to the cages of tigers, panthers, leopards and lions. They were wonderful. The serpent house gave us a new experience. We saw there various types of snakes on the first floor. Then we saw the bisons, the camels, the ostriches and the bats. The zebras and giraffes were really beautiful who looked innocent and friendly.

It was about 2 P.M when we had taken some light refreshment in the zoo canteen. In this way, we passed the day with much delight and acquired a wonderful experience.

A Visit To A Zoo is very thrilling. I went to see the zoo with my younger brother. One is surprised to see such a variety of animals and birds. It was an interesting sight. First of all, we saw the monkeys. They were of many kinds and very amusing. We offered some nuts to them.

Then we came to the lions. They looked very fierce and majestic. They were kept in an open place enclosed with high iron railings. Sometimes they roared terribly. Next, we saw the tigers. They had yellow skins with black stripes on them. In the next two cages, there were a wolf and a fox. The wolf was sleeping, but the fox was walking within the cage.

After this, we came to the glass houses where reptiles were kept. There were snakes, cobras, and serpents. Some of them looked fearful. We did not stay there long.

Then we came to the fences where peacocks were kept. It was a treat to see one of them in his pride (i.e. with his tail spread like a fan).

We stayed three for three hours. We were tired. At last, we went to the cafe and had some refreshment and tea. Then we returned home. We enjoyed our visit very much.

Essay on a Visit to a Zoo: 500 Words

Introduction:.

Everyone needs relaxation and an occasional deviation from the drudgeries of daily existence. A visit to a zoo can offer him these. At the same time, it is a learning experience. It was with this intention that visited the Alipore Zoological Garden last 25th December with some of my friends. This visit was memorable because it was both enjoyable and educational.

Entering the Zoo:

We reached the gate of the zoo in a taxi around 10 am. One has to buy tickets to enter the zoo. A number of visitors were already standing in a queue before the ticket counter. We stood behind them, got our tickets and entered the big arena of the zoo.

Various Types of Birds and Animals:

We crossed the green sward and were greeted by varieties of monkeys in cages. Monkeys and baboons were jumping on the trees within their enclosures. When some people threw food at them, they immediately jumped down from the trees to eat. Some children were making faces at them.

Then, we came across a beautiful lake in which some water birds like ducks and swans were present. There were some migratory birds as well. As we moved, we came to the big netted enclosure in which birds were kept. There were sparrows, parrots, and many other birds. Most of them were twittering, chirping and whistling. But the owls were sitting with their eyes closed as if they were lost in deep thought. The chirping of the birds went on ringing deep in my heart. In their songs, I heard the voice of nature to which the whole universe surrendered. I felt that all was right with the world.

We visited the tigers, lions, zebras, giraffes, rhinos and elephants. Roars of the lions and the tigers were deafening. We found a tiger pacing restlessly with its bloodshot eyes. It was strongly built.

Then we came across a garden in which stags and deer were frisking about. These animals were very agile and beautiful.

Our next halt was at the aquarium section. There were fishes of many species and colours. To see them swimming to and fro in the water was really a rewarding experience. Just beside this enclosure, was the cage of a black bear. It attracted a mammoth gathering. The bear was playing many tricks that thrilled us. Some people offered it eatables which it gulped at once.

Leaving the Zoo:

At about 2 pm, feeling tired, we rested and relaxed on the grassy ground for half an hour. The fragrance of flowers coming from somewhere was really soothing. We again began to stroll around the zoo after having our lunch. We saw a variety of amphibians like crocodiles, snakes, frogs, and a variety of other creatures. Then we hired a boat and enjoyed a short pleasurable ride in the canal. It was around 5 pm when we came out of the zoo. We boarded a bus, casting our last and lingering look on the zoo.

Conclusion:

I reached home in a cheerful mood. This visit refreshed my mind and deepened my awareness of the animal world.

Essay on A Visit To The Zoo

A zoo is a place where different kinds of animals, birds, reptiles, and fishes are kept in cages or enclosed areas for people to see. It needs a lot of land to be taken care of. Below is an essay about visiting a zoo in simple English. It has short sentences so students can understand it easily. After reading this essay, students can write their own paragraph about visiting a zoo.

Descriptive Essay on A Visit to a Zoo

Most people can't easily go to far-off jungles or well-known national parks to see different animals. It's tough to find all those animals in their own homes. Plus, taking kids on a safari in the forest is risky to see animals, birds, and reptiles. That's why many people like going to the zoo. It's a fun and safe way to see all kinds of animals.

There is a wide variety of animals, birds, and beasts that are kept in cages in a zoo. Zoo also keeps animals of rare species. Many animals and birds are brought from foreign lands. This gives the visitors an opportunity to watch such animals and birds of rare species brought from foreign lands, which they could have never seen otherwise.

Zoos are like homes for animals from all around the world. Lions from Africa, kangaroos from Australia, gorillas, chimpanzees, zebras, white tigers, white peacocks, polar bears, colorful parrots, big pythons, and giant crocodiles – they all live in zoos. These places are important because they help protect animals that might disappear forever.

Almost a thousand types of animals, birds, and beasts stay in zoos. Some zoos even help animals have babies in a safe place, called captive breeding. This helps save species that are in danger, so they don't disappear forever. Zoos play a big role in making sure these amazing creatures continue to exist.

These zoos and their maintenance actually show that mankind has an immense love for animals. Man cannot ignore the fact that these animals, birds, reptiles, and beasts are a part of nature. People get to see the variety of animals that exist on this earth. People get to interact, learn and grow with these species of animals.

Visiting a zoo brings human beings closer to these living beings. It makes human beings develop a liking for animals and birds. They get to learn so much about these animals too. Zoos have an aspect of geographical importance as well. They play a vital role in uniting and educating different communities. When we as visitors watch a species of an animal brought from a foreign land, we get to learn about how and where these animals live, about the climate, and the habitat in which they thrive naturally.

The maintenance of a zoo is a huge task. Animals, birds, reptiles, and fishes, from foreign lands with different climatic conditions are to be kept in such surroundings, climate, and temperature that matches that of their natural habitat. If that arrangement is not done properly these animals would not survive. In hot summers, tigers and lions require access to water to keep cool. A gorilla or chimpanzee requires trees and lush green areas to roam.

All these animals also need to be fed according to their original tastes and appetites. A leopard, a lion, or a tiger has to be served its due quantity of raw meat for every meal. A gorilla or a monkey should be served a vegetarian diet. There are some animals that are to be fed with fish. The python is capable of devouring a whole goat and so, it should be fed accordingly, without harming any other living being around it.

Going to the zoo is not just enjoyable; it's a great way to learn. Zoos teach us a ton about how different animals live and what they like. To make sure the animals stay healthy, the zoo has its own medical team and animal doctors. These doctors are well-trained and really good at their job. Animals at the zoo can get sick, and if their illnesses spread, it could be really bad for the whole zoo. Sometimes, the animals even need big surgeries and treatments to get better. So, keeping everything in good shape is really important at a zoo.

We visitors, at times, cause a great deal of risk to the lives of these animals and birds. Out of excitement, to feed the animals, we throw food in plastic bags to the animals inside their cages. The animals tend to swallow the plastic bags along with the food. The plastic gets stuck in their intestines and causes serious problems, and can even result in death sometimes. Along with this, to get some entertainment, the visitors sometimes risk their own lives. Out of curiosity, the visitors try playing around with wild animals, which, if triggered, can become violent.

The visitors coming to zoos, mainly children, should be properly oriented and refrain from such activities. The zoo authorities also have to take care of the mental health of the animals. The animals may develop stereotypic behaviors or even die prematurely if not taken care of properly. Thus, zoological parks help us learn, grow and have fun. They help us bring human beings closer to nature. We get to understand and live God's beautiful creations through these parks.

Short on a Visit to a Zoo Essay

Last Sunday, my family and I went to the zoo. It was a sunny day and we got there at 8 am. When we arrived, there was a big crowd at the entrance. Some people were buying tickets, and others were just enjoying the nice weather and chatting.

Inside, we found a lovely lake with ducks and swans swimming around. It was pretty cool to see all those white ducks on the water. As we walked around, we came across a place with lots of birds – parrots, pigeons, eagles, and sparrows of different colors. The birds were making some enchanting music, and we stopped to enjoy it for a bit.

Next, we saw big cats like leopards, lions, tigers, and tigresses. One lion even rushed towards us, and its roars were really loud and scary. Moving on, we checked out a tiger's den. The tiger had sharp teeth and gave us a fierce look. It walked gracefully towards us, but its roar made us step back. We also saw bears and elephants. The elephants were majestic, swinging their trunks in the air, and the bears were happily playing together.

In another area, there were deer and stags taking strolls, and they were playful and beautiful. We then found a spot with baboons and monkeys in a big tree. They were jumping around, playing pranks, and some even came down for bananas. Kids were having fun making faces at them.

Later, we visited an aquarium with colorful fishes and dolphins happily playing in the water. Near the end, we saw sad polar bears in an enclosure, so we gave them some food. The black bear in another cage was doing tricks, and people were thrilled. We also checked out crocodiles, snakes like pythons and cobras, but the hissing cobras made us move away.

After going around the zoo, we sat in a garden, surrounded by the sweet smell of flowers. The calm wind made it a perfect place to relax. We enjoyed the view with some snacks and drinks. As the sun set, we left the zoo with happy memories and excitement.

Visiting a zoo makes us learn a lot many things about the various species of animals besides the fun and frolic that we have. We get to learn about the tastes and habits of so many varieties of birds, animals, reptiles, and beasts. A zoo is a place that brings us closer to the living beings that we co-exist with on this earth – the animals, birds, reptiles, insects, and so on. It tells us about the balance between the animal species and their habitats. It shows us that animal life is as important as human life. It tells us even more about the wondrous creations of God on this earth.

The value of zoos lies in their ability to bridge the gap between humans and the natural world. They offer us a glimpse into the lives of creatures we might never encounter otherwise, fostering a sense of wonder and respect for the diversity of life on Earth. However, this privilege comes with a responsibility – to ensure the well-being of the animals in our care and to constantly strive for improvement in their living conditions.

Ultimately, the future of zoos lies in striking a delicate balance between education, conservation, and animal welfare. By prioritizing the needs of the animals we hold captive, we can ensure that zoos become not just places of entertainment, but also sanctuaries for endangered species and vital centers for conservation education. Only then can these wondrous, complex institutions truly fulfill their potential as ambassadors of the wild.

  • Best Places to Visit in Lahore

Lahore is known for its rich history and culture; the authorities have maintained its legacy across the metropolis over the years. Just like Lahore Fort, Shalimar Gardens, Jahangir tomb, and Data Darbar, Lahore Zoo is one of the most popular places to visit in Lahore.   It is one of the oldest zoos in the sub-continent and offers you a wide variety of animals and birds.

If you have young kids and fortunately you are in Lahore, at least pay a visit to this place. The facility that houses the endangering species, in most cases, cares for them and conserves them should indeed be your top priority place of visit.

So, let’s explore why this place should be your top priority when visiting Lahore.

History of Lahore Zoo

Lahore Zoo got its start in 1872 with a small aviary donated to the Lahore Municipal Corporation by Lal Mahindra Ram. The animal collection grew over time, and the Zoo expanded. It later became interested in conservation, education, and research, in addition to providing public recreational facilities.

By 2010, the Zoo housed approximately 1280 trees of 71 species and 1380 animals of 136 species, including 996 birds of 82, 49 reptiles of eight, and 336 mammals of 45.

The Lahore Municipal Corporation managed the Zoo from 1872 to 192. Later, the Deputy Commissioner of Lahore took control. In 1962, management was transferred to the Livestock and Dairy Development Department, and in 1982, to the Wildlife and Parks Department. The zoo saw very little development between its founding in 1872 and its transfer to the Wildlife and Parks department in 1982. It has upgraded its exhibits, layout, and landscaping since 1982 and has become an autonomous organization.

On July 25, 2005, an 18-month master planning, improvement, and development project was approved. It was carried out by the ‘Zoo Maintenance Committee and was sponsored by the Punjab Government’s Planning and Development Department. The project, which cost around 202.830 million Pakistani rupees, aimed to improve and expand facilities.

Attractions Offered by Lahore Zoo

What makes the Lahore Zoo so appealing? This isn’t very easy because the location is a hub of interest and recreation.

Fancy Birds Aviary

One of the most popular attractions at Lahore Zoo is the Fancy Birds Aviary. You can see some rare and exotic birds here. The aviary is home to over 50 birds, including Great white pelicans, Greater flamingos, Muscovy ducks, Ring-necked pheasants, Chukar partridges, Asian houbara bustards, Demoiselle cranes, and Black-crowned cranes, among various others.

Bird at lahore zoo

It’s one of the most popular attractions at the Zoo, and it’s easy to see why. The aviary is full of colorful birds worldwide, and visitors can watch them fly, perch, and play.

You can view the birds up close and even feed them. The Lahore Zoo also offers educational programs about birds for school groups. With so many species of birds, the Fancy Birds Aviary is a must-see for bird lovers of all ages.

Lion House at Lahore Zoo

Lahore Zoo is home to different animals, including lions. The Lion House is a popular attraction at the Zoo, where you can see these majestic animals up close.

The Lion House was built in 1872, one of the oldest buildings at the Lahore Zoo. Initially built to house tigers, it was later converted into lion habitat. The Lion House is made of brick and has a metal roof.

The house has two levels, and the lions have access to both. The ground level has an indoor area where the lions can rest and cool off. The upper level has an outdoor space where the lions can sun themselves and play. The Lion House also has a viewing platform where visitors can watch the lions.

Elephant House

The elephant house at Lahore Zoo is a large enclosure specifically designed to meet the needs of these majestic creatures. It was constructed in 1972. The house has ample open space for the elephants to move around and a pool where they can cool off and play. The enclosure also has a sand pit where the elephants can roll around and relax.

In addition, the elephant house has several trees that provide shade and shelter for the elephants. The zoo staff provides the elephants with hay, fruits, and vegetables. The team also works hard to keep the enclosure clean and debris-free. The elephant house at the zoo provides these fantastic animals with a safe and comfortable home.

Elephant at lahore zoo

You can also feed the elephant with the mentioned foods on the board.

The only elephant, Suzi, died in May 2017 due to several illnesses. But now the administration is planning to bring another elephant to the Zoo.

Monkey House at Lahore Zoo

Lahore Zoo is distinguished from other zoos by the presence of a large and diverse population of monkeys.

Four new enclosures were constructed in 2012 over the Zoo’s previous outdated monkey house and are located just west of the Zoo’s main entrance. The first enclosure is home to the Zoo’s olive baboon family, which consists of approximately nine individuals. A pair of tufted capuchins and mantled guerezas reside in the following two enclosures. The last enclosure contains a family of vervet monkeys.

A family of porcupines, an adult spur-thighed tortoise, and a pair of smooth-coated otters are housed in enclosures nearby. In the past, the Monkey House was home to black-footed grey langurs, mandrills, and spider monkeys.

Chimpanzee House

The Zoo’s chimpanzee house is a large enclosure with a climbing frame, trees, and plenty of enrichment toys. The chimpanzees are well-cared for and have ample opportunity to exercise and play. Travelers to the Zoo can watch the chimps swing from branch to branch, chase each other around, and play with their toys. It’s a fascinating glimpse into the natural behavior of these amazing animals.

Aligator at Lahore Zoo

In addition to housing the Zoo’s chimpanzees, this structure also houses wolves, swamp cats, and rhesus macaques. In 1994, the Zoo acquired its first pair of chimpanzees, male Romeo and female Julie. Tinku, a male chimpanzee, was born to the couple in 2000 but died in September 2004 due to pneumonia.

Julie gave birth to two female chimpanzees named Pinky and Honey in August 2001. Romeo died in 2008, also of pneumonia. Juliet died of hepatitis in 2012, and Pinky passed away in 2014, leaving the Zoo with only one chimpanzee, Honey. This structure also serves as a temporary holding area for leopards, lions, and pumas, among other feline species. The facility previously housed cheetahs and baboons.

Lahore Zoo’s chimpanzee house is a must-see for anyone interested in animal welfare or simply seeing some adorable primates up close.

Waterfowl Lake at Lahore Zoo

Waterfowl Lake is another popular zoo attraction where you can feed the ducks and geese.

This lake, located south of the Fancy Aviary, is home to numerous waterfowl and wading bird species. It consists of four islands containing some of the Zoo’s oldest trees. A banyan tree reportedly over 400 years old is located adjacent to the enclosure. This zoo section houses black swans, Muscovy ducks, lesser flamingos, and Dalmatian pelicans, among other species. A small chamber containing a pair of wild boars is located nearby.

So, Lahore Zoo is a great place to spend a day with family and friends, and Waterfowl Lake is a big part of what makes it so unique.

Reptile House

This Zoo is home to many different animals, including reptiles. The Reptile House offers visitors a chance to see some of these creatures up close.

Indian cobras, Sindh kraits, saw-scaled vipers, and Indian pythons are available at the reptile house. Renovated in 2006, the exhibits and animals improved ventilation and air conditioning. The facility also houses guinea pigs. In addition, the building houses a small taxidermy museum that displays various zoo-dwelling animal species.

reptiles at lahore zoo

You can learn about the different types of reptiles and their habitats. They can also observe the snakes in their natural environment and how they interact with other animals. The Reptile House is a great place to learn about these fantastic creatures and their place in the world.

Walk-Through Aviary at Lahore Zoo

The Zoo’s walk-through aviary offers visitors the chance to get up close and personal with these feathered friends. As you stroll through the aviary, you’ll be surrounded by the sights and sounds of birds in their natural habitat.

Several feeders are also located throughout the aviary, so you can watch the birds feast on their favorite foods. In addition to the many birds that call the aviary home, turtles, ducks, and other animals can be seen swimming in the pond.

Be sure to keep an eye out for the zookeeper, who will be happy to answer any questions you may have about the birds. The Lahore Zoo is a great place to learn about the behavior and ecology of birds, and the walk-through aviary is an experience you won’t soon forget.

Urial Hillock

It’s where families gather on weekends, public holidays, and notably during the winter and summer vacations.

Lahore Zoo Travel Guide

In a glimpse:.

Lahore is renowned as the “City of Gardens” in Pakistan’s beautiful province, Punjab , and administrators have worked hard to ensure that parks throughout the metropolis are well-maintained and well-kept over the years. As a result, Lahore Zoo, like Shalimar Gardens, Jallo Park, and Jinnah Park, is one of Lahore’s most well-known sites for open, lush green spaces.

The subcontinent’s oldest zoo, with various animals and birds, is becoming a major tourist attraction. If you are in Lahore, you should visit this site at least once, especially if you have minor children, as it is the best place for them.

The Lahore Zoo, despite its age, has managed to remain in the city’s core – on Mall Road. It shares a wall (or green belt) with Jinnah Park, allowing you to see rare plant and animal species on both sides of the fence in a single trip. Its position makes it convenient for individuals to visit it frequently.

Mall Road is one of Lahore’s oldest and busiest thoroughfares. It holds the majority of government buildings and employees’ homes, and it extends to Old Lahore. The Lahore Zoo is located on the opposite side of Mall Road from the Alhamra Arts Council, another popular tourist destination.

Aside from that, the Lahore Zoo is merely 3 kilometers from the Lahore Railway Station Road and 4 kilometers from the General Bus Stand.

Lahore Zoo was founded in 1872 after the aviary was donated by Lala Mela Ram. The building of this structure began in the 1860s. It was overseen by the Lahore Municipal Committee from 1872 to 1921 before being handed to the Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner, Lahore, and managed by a Zoo Advisory Committee until 1962. Soon after, the West Pakistan Agriculture Department took control, followed by the Livestock and Dairy Development Department.

Finally, in 1982, the Wildlife & Parks Department was entrusted with the management of Lahore Zoo, which is now managed by the Zoo Management Committee (ZMC) of Lahore Zoo, which was established under the Punjab Zoos & Safari Parks Rules 2012.

The exhibits, building layout, landscape pattern, and administration have changed dramatically since its transfer to the Wildlife Department in 1982. Thanks to these initiatives and development work, the Lahore Zoo has become a self-funded organization, covering all its expenses with its funds.

It’s where families gather on weekends, public holidays, and notably during the winter and summer vacations. Lahore Zoo attracts over 4.5 million visitors each year, which is unsurprising. It provides clean and green spaces, well-built paths, cafeteria facilities, and various refreshments to guarantee that all visitors have a pleasant time.

You are welcome to come anytime between 9:00 a.m. and dusk. As a result, the time restriction would most likely shift from summer to winter. Aside from that, the zoo is open seven days a week.

Areas and Attractions

Fancy birds aviary.

This is the zoo’s oldest area, located immediately east of the main gate, as the zoo initially began as an aviary in 1872. The majority of the zoo’s game birds and parrots call it home. Four rows of double-sided birdcages house peafowl, pheasants, partridges, western capped pigeons, and various parrot species such as macaws, grey parrots, etc.

The glorious beauty of the peacock presents the feast to the eyes

A group of Asiatic jackals, juvenile spur-thighed tortoises, and Asian houbara live in a series of enclosures at the section’s eastern end. A small habitat nearby, which initially housed smooth-coated otters and now houses Indian flap shell turtles and red-eared sliders, also serve as a temporary holding area for the zoo’s immature mugger crocodiles.

The current Lion House complex, which spans 24,500 square feet and costs 5.1 million rupees to construct, was rebuilt in 2012 after being completed in 1872. It consists of three concrete buildings, each with two neighboring outdoor enclosures and internal cages. The zoo’s Bengal tigers and pumas are housed in the first of these structures. The Lahore Zoo now includes fifteen tigers and three pumas, the majority of whom were born there.

The lions are housed in the second structure, which has three indoor compartments and two outdoor cages. The zoo welcomed 13 lion cubs in 2015 and 2016, bringing the number of lions to more than 20. The zoo’s black bear family lives in the third and final building. The zoo’s resident black bear pair has given birth to two litters of two cubs, all of whom are still living at the zoo, in 2009 and 2011. The only enclosure in the Lion House without an inside viewing area for tourists is this one.

The epitome of bravery and fearlessness; a tiger roaming in its cage in Lahore Zoo

Elephant House

This is one of the zoo’s most popular attractions, built-in 1972 for 500,000 rupees. It is divided into three substantial indoor chambers, each with its outdoor paddock. Originally home to three endangered African pachyderm species, the African plains elephant, southern white rhinoceros, and common hippopotamus, it now holds a female hippo, Rani, who arrived in July 2006, and a male white rhinoceros. Monkey House

These four new enclosures, built-in 2012 to replace the zoo’s existing out-of-date monkey house, are located just west of the zoo’s main gate. The zoo’s olive baboon family, which now numbers around nine individuals, is housed in the first enclosure. A pair of tufted capuchins and mantled guerezas live in the following two compartments.

A family of velvet monkeys lives in the final enclosure. The zoo’s porcupine family, adult spur-thighed tortoises, and a pair of smooth-coated otters are housed in adjoining cages.

Chimpanzee House

This structure contains a variety of animals, including wolves, swamp cats, and rhesus macaques, as well as the zoo’s chimps. Male Romeo and female Julie, the zoo’s first chimps, was introduced in 1994. Tinku, a male chimp, was born in 2000 but died in September 2004 due to disease. Julie gave birth to two female chimps named Pinky and Honey in August of 2001.

In 2008, Romeo died of pneumonia as well. Juliet died of hepatitis in 2012, and Pinky was killed in 2014, leaving Honey as the zoo’s last chimp. This structure also serves as a temporary holding area for cats of various types, such as leopards, lions, and pumas. In addition, cheetahs and baboons were among the animals historically housed here.

Waterfowl Lake

This lake, located south of the Fancy Aviary, is home to various waterfowl and wading birds. It consists of four islands, each featuring some of the zoo’s oldest trees. A banyan tree estimated to be over 400 years old is located near the enclosure. Black swans, Muscovy ducks, smaller flamingos, and Dalmatian pelicans are among the animals housed in this zoo section. A small chamber harboring a pair of wild boars is nearby.

Reptile House

The majority of the zoo’s reptiles, including Indian cobras, Sindh kraits, saw-scaled vipers, and Indian pythons, are housed in this structure. In 2006, the Reptile House was restored to improve display airflow and provide air conditioning for the creatures. Guinea pigs are among the other animals housed. The building also has a small taxidermy museum that displays numerous animals that once resided at the zoo.

Giraffes, mugger crocodiles, blackbucks, nilgais, red deer, hog deer, guanacos, plains zebra, ostrich, emus, and vulturine Guinea fowl are among the other famous animals present at Lahore Zoo. Plan your tour to Lahore with a guide to Pakistan.

Essay on A Visit to the Zoo

Essay on A Visit to the Zoo

Last weekend, my father wanted to take us out somewhere. So we decided to go to the zoo. My mother made some sandwiches and packed some fruits. Father took his camera along, and we all left for the zoo.

Outside, it was warm and sunny. After an hour’s drive, we reached the zoo. The place was crowded. There were vendors selling balloons, caps, eatables and lot of other things.

My father bought three tickets and we all walked into the zoo. Inside we boarded a small train which took us around the park. I was so excited that I kept jumping on my seat.

As the train moved slowly around the park, we saw a lion, a white tiger, hippopotamus, deer, giraffes, mongoose, bison, wolves and hyenas.

After the train ride, we sat in a restaurant and had our lunch. While walking around the zoo, I saw boards which warned us not to feed the animals. I could not understand the reason behind it. When I asked my father about it, he explained that our food might harm the animals. He also told me that the zoo authorities take care of the animals in best possible manner.

After lunch, we left for our home though I wanted to stay back and go for the train ride again.

An Essay on Visit to a Zoo [PDF]

A Zoo is a short form of Zoological garden, where various wild animals along with different creatures are displayed to the public. Today in this write-up we are going to see an essay on a visit to a Zoo, so let’s dive into the essay!

Visit to a zoo feature image

A zoo is a place of adventure to explore where you would get to see a variety of plants and animals. The animals are kept in their cages so that they could not harm the public including children especially.  It is a fun place to go with your friends and family too.

It was once I visited a zoo when I was a kid. During the summer holidays, every family makes a plan for visiting a zoo so that their children could get refreshing air and happily enjoy the adventure to watch the animals. I am lucky that my family took me to the zoo. After we reached there at the entrance of the zoo, there was a ticket counter for buying the tickets.

There was a small box fixed with the counter to store the items.  I was so delighted to see all the things at the zoo. It was filled with trees all round to provide fresh air to animals and oxygen to every person. I saw many types of creatures from birds to the lion to the reptiles are found in the zoo. I had so much enjoyment when I had gone there.

There I had watched all the animals and heard the sweet sound of birds and the lion’s roaring too. I saw many birds and they were looking very beautiful that were ostriches, sparrows, peacocks, pigeons, nightingale, crane, kingfisher that were having so pretty feathers. Peacock has its colorful feathers and it dances too.

Various animals are found here with natural habitat. The monkeys are naughty as they jump and climb from one tree to another. They perform various tricks and they make funny faces and children imitate them as what they do. Other animals like rhinoceros, tiger, wild bear, deer, and giraffes were also there. They were kept in big cages.

I had gone for boat riding with my father and took a ride of elephants too. There were so many trees so they provide shade so that people can sit under the tree. I sat with my mother and father and enjoy tasty sandwiches and drank water.

I saw many other children who were playing. They were swinging on a see-saw and playing ice and spy, and running everywhere. There, I saw a pond having ducks and swam swimming. There were many golden and varieties of fishes.

I had explored and was happy once I visited there. I got aware of animals and learned to share their love with animals. I was said by the person taking not to harm them or make their fun.

I had learned new things about animals, their names and in which environment they live and what they eat. There was a board with writing that, “Children keep their distance from the animals” because of a roar of a lion or noise made by any other animal could scare them badly.

The zoo was covered with many nice things on a large piece of land for fitting the big-sized and small-sized animals wherever needed. I was happy to see the families who came with their cell phones and opened the camera to click the photos with their children playing and having full fun.

After leaving the zoo, I came outside the zoo, with my family I saw there were so many small shops to buy the food to eat in case you do not take your lunch with yourself. Various thela walas were selling bhelpuri, chaat, pani puri, fast food, ice creams, samosa and much more for everyone.

The price of the food was low cost. Many people were standing near the toys stall separately for the children to buy and also the near to it was the departmental store for buying a bottle of mineral water or cold drinks to end the thirst.

There were many animals brought in the zoo from the outside world. They were adored nicely and looked after with great care. They were looking after them and feeding them properly with high nutritional food. Lastly, I was so much tired after having an adventure, playing and having a boat and elephant ride. I got back home with my parents for taking rest.

I hope you liked this essay on a visit to a zoo. Also, do comment down your thoughts regarding this essay, and don’t forget to share it on your favourite social media platform.

Sample essay on My Favorite City Lahore

Lahore is considered to be the “heart of Pakistan”. I used to hear about its beauty and charm a lot before I finally made my mind to go and see it. I somehow managed to go there alone to be able to experience each and everything on my own. I realized after my visit that why people are in so much love with this city.

People & Culture

Lahore has a very rich cultural heritage which has kept it as the traditional capital of Punjab for so many centuries. Also, the people live there are so full of life and cheerful. I found most of them very straight-forward and funny.

I also knew about a lot of misperceptions people have about “Lahoris”. But after I paid a visit to Lahore and met a lot of people there, I came to know that it was actually the opposite. The people in Lahore don’t poke their noses into each others’ businesses and everyone has the right to live the way they want to.

Education and Training

Moreover, Lahore is considered to be a core of education and training. People from other cities come here to get higher studies from its prestigious colleges and universities. You would see the huge diversity in its population of 10 million. I also got to see and meet people from every religion, race, and walk of life.

Anarkali Bazaar

There are many places in Lahore which are worth visiting. I went to Anarkali bazaar which is the busiest part of Lahore. Although its streets were narrow and crowded, it is still one of the best experiences I had in my life. I bought a lot of dresses, shoes, and bags from there which are rarely found anywhere else.

Food Street

Food street of Lahore is another charming place to which I paid a visit. There is such a huge diversity in traditional and fast food dishes that I bet everyone can find his favorite food here. I tried a lot of dishes which were so mouth-watering that I still remember them.

Minar-e-Pakistan

Minar-e-Pakistan is situated in old Lahore which is a symbol of independence of Muslim. You can see the view of entire Lahore from the top of Minar-e-Pakistan. I also went to the top and the view was really breathtaking. I made a lot of photos as well to be able to recall my beautiful memories.

Masjid Wazir Khan

It is a 17th-century mosque which is located in the city of Lahore. It is a historical place which was commissioned during the ruling period of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. The architecture is so beautiful that it is really difficult to take eyes off it. I spend a lot of hours there praying and observing people around me.

There are other special places in Lahore as well like Lahore fort, Sunehri Masjid, Iqbal Park, Shalamar Garden, and so many more. People from all over the world come to visit these beautiful places of Lahore. I would also suggest you go and witness the beauty of Lahore yourself.

The zoo is a fascinating topic to write about. Here is a paragraph for children that describes all about the zoo.

A zoo is a place full of unique creatures living in one area away from the forest. Last year, my family planned a visit to the zoo. When we got there, we found different animals and birds living their lives in peaceful surroundings with regular food and proper shelter. We learned about the shelters of the animals and what they eat. We also saw various birds and reptiles swinging and roaming in a specific place. We had a delightful day, and we left the zoo in the evening.

Kids in the junior classes will be asked to write a short paragraph on this topic. Here is an example for your reference.

My school planned a visit to the zoo last Sunday. I was very excited to explore nature and wildlife. I found various animals, reptiles, mammals, fishes, and birds when I got there. I saw how long the giraffes were and how big the elephants seemed to be. I had never experienced this before. It was my best trip to the zoo ever. I saw monkeys eating bananas and deer running so fast in the field. I learned that crocodiles stay in one place for a long time, searching for their prey. I heard the soothing voices of birds. This was my best experience, and I want to revisit this amazing place.

If you want to write an essay for class 3 on zoos, the below-written essay can help you frame the same.

My school was planning a trip to take us to the zoo. They asked my parent’s permission, and fortunately, they agreed. Everything was organised, and the trip was scheduled for next Sunday morning. The day arrived very soon, and I boarded my school bus, which came to pick me up for the trip. It was a bright Sunday morning, and with a cheerful smile, I continued my day. Teachers already explained to us about the zoo. And this made me more excited.

Finally, around 9 a.m., we arrived at the zoo. When we entered inside, we saw the deer running in their field. Moving forward, we saw giraffes, tigers, lions, leopards, bears, different kinds of horses, etc. We then went to the birds’ section. All types of birds were there. All of them were singing and dancing in the trees. We also saw monkeys and baboons hanging on the giant trees. In the end section of the zoo, we found a small pond full of fish. There was also a museum for aquatic animals, such as dolphins and starfish.

Coming our way back to the exit, we saw snakes and cobras swinging in their specific area. The entire zoo was decorated with flowers and was full of greenery everywhere. It was a beautiful view to watch. Around 6 p.m., we reached home safely with a heart and mind full of happy memories. Hence, the trip to the zoo was my best experience, as I learned a lot of things about animals and birds.

A zoo is undoubtedly a place of wonder and has its own advantages and disadvantages. The zoo not only teaches you about different kinds of creatures, but it also helps you realise the importance of wildlife. It gives you lovely memories that can be incorporated into a composition on a visit to a zoo.

  • A zoo requires proper maintenance and cleanliness for the well-being of the creatures there.
  • It attracts many tourists to see the wildlife heritage of one’s country.
  • The word ‘zoo’ is derived from the Greek word ‘zoion’. It is an abbreviation of zoological gardens, specifically applied to the Regent’s Park, London, in the mid 19’s.
  • It protects various endangered animals.
  • It proves to be one of the economic resources for the country.
  • A zoo is not a natural habitat for animals, even if they are born there.
  • Zoo animals are often trained to entertain viewers.
  • Many zoos allow you to adopt animals. You can pay to feed them for a certain period of time.

The zoo is undoubtedly a good source of entertainment for adults and kids. Not only this, it also attracts lots of tourists to see the wildlife heritage of a country. This makes the zoo attractive and one of the best places to visit. So, give your kids an assignment to write an essay on a visit to the zoo, and see what they think of it.
