ABOUT THE OUTFITTER

Welcome to beaver creek outfitters colorado wilderness horseback pack trips.

Having an interest in hunting since early childhood, Scott Gesell found the opportunity to become an outfitter in Colorado and has been offering guided elk hunts and mule deer hunts since 2004.

His enjoyment of horses and elk hunting came together and spending months in the mountains on horseback, packing and setting Colorado elk hunting camps as well as guiding allows him to immerse himself in doing what he loves.

What Our Client’s Say

I highly recommend Beaver Creek Outfitters, it is a first class experience. Chris put me on the biggest elk I have ever seen. Chris and his crew are all about ensuring a premium hunt, from the camp to the food, the conversation to the knowledge of the terrain. Beaver Creek Outfitters will help make a one of a kind hunting memory!
I would highly recommend Beaver Creek Outfitters for a hunting trip! All of the guys were great to deal with. My son Logan and I hunted with them 1st season rifle October 2020! What a great experience! From the first day riding in and seeing the beautiful area to the first afternoon when my son killed a 5×5 bull we had the best time of our lives! Not the fact that we killed something but just spending time in the wild and making new friends. It was absolutely the best experience we’ve ever had! Chris and the rest of the crew worked very hard to make it a trip that we will never forget! Anyone thinking of hunting with BCO will not be disppointed! Looking forward to a return trip hopefully in 2023!
Beaver creek outfitters is a first class outfitter. I had the best time. The owners and guides are top notch they are very helpful and informative. I will be back. Thanks for the great memories. I will see you guys soon.
Never been Elk Hunting we knew we needed to choose an outfitter that had been in the game for a while. When Beaver Creek was presented to us as one of the premier elk guides in CO we saw that we would be in great hands. We were not disappointed from the time we were picked up to the time we left we felt like family, and killing a 5×5 bull elk was just a bonus.
If you want game rich areas, no hunting pressure, knowledgeable guides and comfortable accommodations , Beaver Creek Outfitters is the place to go. I have hunted BCO with both the rifle (drop camp) and the bow (guided) and both experiences were great. Both times we encountered no hunting pressure and plenty of Elk. BCO’s team make the entire trip a great experience for everyone involved. On our guided hunt the food and the staff were second to none, on our drop camp the accommodations were very comfortable and everything was provided except for the food and personal belongings. It has taken me 5 different outfitters to finally find the one that “walks the talk”. I am looking forward to my 3rd trip With BCO this fall.
It is not often that a long awaited trip meets and exceeds all expectations. However, our time with Scott and his team during the 3rd season of 2017 did just that. Along with my two sons, we were looking to hunt hard, have an adventure, meet good people and enjoy spectacular country. That we filled 2 of 3 bull tags with quality elk was simply a great topper. Thank you very much for an experience we will never forget and hope to repeat.
We are a group of bow hunters that can’t run up and down the hills like we used to so we decided to give a drop camp a try. We did some research online and sent out some emails. We were very impressed with Beaver Creeks responses and went with them. They lived up to everything they said and we had a great experience with them. We will be back as points permit us.

Wilderness Fly Fishing Expeditions

Wilderness fly fishing expeditions with colorado outfitters.

Our pack-in wilderness fly fishing expeditions provide access to some of Colorado's finest back country fishing.  We offer remote camps in several locations all providing comfortable accommodations. Our camps are set with wall tents, woodstoves, cots and foam pads (at times, we also use Cabela's Alaknak and Guide Series Tents which offer similar comfort). We use solar showers with an enclosure to enable clients who wish to clean up after enjoying a day riding and fishing the back country. All pack-in trips are done on horse back with mule strings. Our camps are off the beaten path and anywhere from a two to five hour horse back ride. Based on this, we recommend trips with a minimum of three days of fishing plus one day packing in and one day packing out. For guided trips, we use packable boats which further enhance the fishing and result in more fish in your net. You can expect to catch brook trout and cutthroats typically ranging from ten to sixteen inches with occasional bigger cutthroats approaching twenty inches. Our most remote camp offers fishing five different lakes all within an approximate 30 minute walk or horseback ride. Additional lakes can also be accessed from here within an hours horseback ride of the camp.

Guided trips offer three meals a day starting out with fresh brewed coffee, juice and a hearty breakfast (i.e. bacon/eggs or pancakes/sausage, etc..). Lunch will generally be a sack lunch with sandwiches, fresh fruit and snacks. At dinner, clients can look forward to meals like barbecued chicken, mashed potatoes and a vegetable or salad with some home baked cookies for desert! Camp fires are the norm most evenings (unless there is a fire ban). If desired, we will also customize a menu to your liking.

We also offer unguided pack-in trips too for those who are experienced fisherman and comfortable in the back country on their own. For these trips, clients will be expected to bring their own meals, cut their own firewood and purify their own water. We will certainly also provide insight on what flies are working best and which lakes are fishing well at the time. Once again, we strongly do encourage catch and release especially on bigger fish as this is what helps keep the fishing exceptional for the future.

Wilderness Fly Fishing Expeditions Video

Colorado Outfitters offers amazing Wilderness Fly Fishing Expeditions. Watch a bit of what we offer in the video below.

"I had a great time fishing at Colorado Outfitters last summer! We did lake fishing the first day where I was catching cutthroats in the 14-16 inch range and the next day we fished some fast action, small river water catching brookies in the 10-12 inch range on dry flies! While I had fished with my guide, Bob Terwilliger before in his previous guiding job, this was my first time here. Needless to say, I'll be back as fishing, scenery and horses were great!"
