A new airline for San Diego is bringing five nonstop flights in time for summer travel

J ust in time for late spring and summer travel, low-cost carrier Breeze Airways is making its debut at the San Diego airport next month with the first of five new nonstop flights to major cities in North Carolina, Florida, Virginia, Ohio and Pennsylvania.

Leading the slate of new nonstop destinations is Raleigh-Durham, N.C., which will begin April 30. The remaining nonstops — to Jacksonville, Fla., Norfolk, Va., Cincinnati and Pittsburgh — all start in early May.

Each of the flights, Breeze says, are seasonal, which means they will not be available year-round. A Breeze spokesperson said that all of the flights, except for Raleigh-Durham and Norfolk, will end by late August or early September. There is no end date yet for those two flights.

Breeze Airways is a relatively new airline started in 2021 by David Neeleman, the founder of JetBlue. While none of the new Breeze destinations for San Diego are currently served by any of the airlines operating out of San Diego International Airport, Southwest Airlines will be offering a single nonstop flight weekly to Pittsburgh this summer between June and August.

With the start of the spring season, Breeze Airways announced on Wednesday a promotional discount of 34 percent off all round-trip base fares booked by 11:59 p.m. Pacific Standard Time Friday. The promotion is good for travel between March 27 and Oct. 1 of this year.

All of the new San Diego routes will be served on Breeze's new fleet of Airbus A220-300 aircraft.

Breeze, which characterizes itself as a "nice low-cost carrier," offers three classes of fares, with the pricier tiers including seat assignments and complimentary checked luggage. Breeze does not charge change or cancellation fees, and for flights that customers cancel, a credit is available for future use during a two-year period.

In California, Breeze is already operating in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Santa Ana (John Wayne airport), and San Bernardino.

Website is not updated. They no longer offer office visits. Help is not 24hrs. Online chat doesn't work/is deactivated. I had to call twice before I got an agent. You'll have to pay for shipping with FedEx $35 or USPS $10.

Very efficient. Get your Japan rail pass here ! Turnaround time was very quick and the staff was kind.

Took us almost 35 mins to get here and we were told it's by appointment only... I informed the receptionist that we only needed to buy JR passes and that I've tried to call the number to ask specifically but the number to call is useless. Essentially the number listed doesn't let you talk to the representative at the San Jose location, which would've helped save me the drive out. You're better off ordering the ticket online through JRpass website and picking up your tickets once you land in Japan. Save yourself the trip and hassle.

Super helpful and kind services! You can purchase a JR Pass here online and you can pick it up. It's cheaper than buying from other places online ($266). You can return it and get a refund but they usually retain the 10% service charge (however, because of coronavirus, I was able to get a full refund. Great!). I would definitely come back here again to get the JR Pass (again lol). Super friendly staff. :)

Quick and painless process to get a JR pass. Their system went down in the middle of the process but they were very apologetic. I told em i would rather not have to come back tomorrow or later on that day as their office was out of the way so they called their main office and did everything they could. 10 mins later the system came back, and we were able to get it done. Def appreciate the willingness to help.

Two years later, November 2019 I used IACE again to order Japan Rail Pass, 7 days, for entire family. It was a breeze. Online order took a few minutes, select pickup location. Within 24 hours I could go pick up. I dropped by on a weekday after work, walked in, got the vouchers and on my way. Whole experience took no more than a few min. Last time we got the Pass right away at HND airport. This time we started the day after. Note only large stations like airports, Tokyo Station, Kyoto Station have JR offices that can process the voucher. You can't just get the JR Pass from any metro station. Next time, I'll have to remember to get the Pass right away while at airport. They'll stamp your Pass the time you use it.

I ordered the 7-day JR Pass for three people. I ordered online, b/c IACE had the best deal around (about $10 cheaper per ticket). Online purchase was a breeze and the website had most updated info, though the site itself needs some modernizing. Not a big deal. The vouchers were mailed to this IACE location for free. I live in San Jose so it was easy to swing by, pick up the vouchers and ask some questions about our trip. Like other reviewers said, the staff here is very professional and friendly. They answered all my questions and I was in and out in 10min. I didn't know IACE is a local travel office until I found them online. I might come here for more tips on my next Japan trip.

Yes. IACE Travel San Jose is the best place to get a JR Pass, but they are so much MORE!!! Yuki created an amazing travel itinerary! This was our (my husband's and my) first trip to Japan. First trip abroad. We do not speak Japanese. Despite all those challenges AND after asking preliminary questions to get an idea of what we wanted to do, see and EAT in Japan - plus identifying my unfounded fear of train stations, Yuki put us at ease. Not only did Yuki put us on English-speaking tours in Tokyo, Kyoto, and Hiroshima, but the Ryokan in Atami also catered to our English language needs - that extra effort meant so much to us. In addition, the hotel locations were super convenient to "all-inclusive" train stations (Kyoto & Shinagawa) plus she listed all the appropriate dates, Shinkansen (bullet train) lines and times so we were fully prepared after we activated our JR Pass. From the roundtrip-airport limousine vouchers from Narita to our Tokyo hotel, to tips about what BEST to see in Nara, Osaka, and Tokyo and how to "travel light" on the Shinkansen to Atami and then on to Kyoto, plus Japanese-Must-eat culinary dishes suggestions, Yuki went above and beyond expectations. Our Japan trip was the best trip ever and we cannot thank Yuki enough for all her hard work. If you are going to Japan - especially if it is your first time, please go to IACE Travel San Jose and see Yuki or any of her colleagues. They are more than just a place to pick up JR Passes. IACE Travel will create a dream Japan vacation for you!!!

I purchased my JR passes online in the morning around 9am and got an email at noon to come to their storefront to pick it up. Right when I opened the front door, I was greeted with friendly smiles and 'Hellos'. The procedure was smooth and simple. I was in and out within 5 minutes being that I asked a couple questions. Definitely recommend coming here before your visit to Japan!

Great place to buy JR passes. If you call ahead, give them your information and pay through the phone, you just swing by 30 minutes later and pick up your passes. If you prefer to go there directly you need to wait 20-30 minutes to receive the JR passes. Very friendly people! Feel like to be in Japan already! Strongly recommended this place.

This travel agency is amazing. I called earlier today to see if I can purchase and pickup a japan rail pass this week this we're leaving this weekend. The lady was very nice and told me they can have it done in 20 mins. They took our info and everything was ready same day! The online order form tells you to order 7 days ahead but they can process it rather quickly in person or over the phone. All the ladies are super nice and very helpful with any questions I had! They also had the best price in the Bay Area! Definitely recommend coming here for all Japan travel needs!
