Motorcycle-Specific Technology Matches Performance to Available Traction
Harley-Davidson® RDRS Safety Enhancements (formerly known as RDRS) is a collection of technology designed to enhance rider confidence during unexpected situations or poor road conditions. RDRS Safety Enhancements are designed to match motorcycle performance to available traction during acceleration, deceleration and braking, in a straight line or while in a turn. The systems are electronic and utilize the latest chassis control, electronic brake control and powertrain technology.
“RDRS Safety Enhancements are technologies developed by Harley-Davidson and designed to make motorcycling more intuitive,” said VP Marketing Theo Keetell. “Our intent is to assist riders of every skill level in an unanticipated moment when electronic intervention may react more quickly, and with more precision, than our own reflexes can react. A situation that activates an RDRS Safety Enhancement may be rare, but if it occurs, this technology may be invaluable.”
Introduced for many 2020 Harley-Davidson® motorcycles, RDRS Safety Enhancements are standard on all 2021 Harley-Davidson CVO™, Tri Glide® Ultra, Freewheeler®, and LiveWire® models. RDRS Safety Enhancements are optional on all 2021 Touring models in the U.S. The RDRS Safety Enhancements are bundled together, except where noted.
Important Note: Available traction is determined by the road/tire interface. RDRS Safety Enhancements on motorcycles are only able to adjust brake pressure or powertrain torque in an attempt to keep the forces at the tire from exceeding available grip. These technologies do not have the ability to increase grip, or to intervene when the rider has not made a brake or throttle application (e.g. coasting through a corner with the clutch disengaged). RDRS Safety Enhancements on motorcycles do not have the ability to directly influence vehicle direction. This is a key difference between motorcycle RDRS Safety Enhancements and automotive stability control. The rider is ultimately responsible for speed, steering and path corrections.
Cornering Enhanced RDRS Safety Enhancements
Some RDRS Safety Enhancements may be “cornering enhanced,” technology that is motorcycle-specific and a key difference between RDRS Safety Enhancements and automotive traction/stability control systems. Harley-Davidson motorcycles equipped with RDRS Safety Enhancements have an inertial measurement unit, or IMU, that measures and reports the lean angle of two-wheel motorcycles, or the lateral acceleration of a Trike (three-wheel motorcycle), as it navigates a turn. Because many motorcycles have different size front and rear tires, when the motorcycle leans into a turn the wheels begin to rotate at slightly different speeds. The tire traction patch – the part of the tire actually touching the pavement – also changes as the motorcycle leans in a turn. Cornering enhanced technology takes this into account and for optimal performance intervenes differently when the motorcycle is leaned compared to when the motorcycle is upright.
RDRS Safety Enhancements
Cornering Enhanced Electronic Linked Braking (C-ELB)
This technology applies braking effort to both wheels when the rider uses either the hand lever (front) or foot pedal (rear) brake control, which can help many riders achieve better braking performance. The C-ELB system provides more responsiveness and allows for more balanced front and rear braking under a wide variety of brake applications. The system provides more linking when the rider is applying heavier braking and reduces or eliminates linking for light braking and low speeds. When linked, applying the front brake lever alone will cause the system to also dynamically apply an amount of braking to the rear. Applying the rear brake pedal alone will cause the system to also apply an amount of braking to the left front caliper. C-ELB takes into account the motorcycle lean angle or Trike lateral acceleration. C-ELB will alter the proportioning of brake pressure between the front and rear brakes when braking while cornering in an attempt to improve the ability of the bike to maintain the rider’s intended path.
This technology is standard on all 2020-later CVO™ models and optional on most 2020 Touring models.
Cornering Enhanced Antilock Braking System (C-ABS)
ABS is designed to prevent the wheels from locking under braking and helps the rider maintain control when braking in a straight-line, urgent situation. ABS operates independently on front and rear brakes to keep the wheels rolling and prevent uncontrolled wheel lock. Cornering Enhanced Antilock Braking System (C-ABS) is a variant of ABS that takes into consideration the lean angle of a two-wheel motorcycle, or the lateral acceleration of a Trike model. The brake pressure required to limit wheel slip when cornering is typically lower than the pressure required under straight line operation.
This technology is standard on 2020-later LiveWire and CVO models and optional on most 2020-later Touring models.
Cornering Enhanced Traction Control System (C-TCS)
The Cornering Enhanced Traction Control System (C-TCS) is designed to prevent the rear wheel from excessive spinning under acceleration when going straight or cornering. C-TCS can improve rider confidence when available traction is compromised by wet weather, a sudden unanticipated change in the surface, or when riding on an unpaved road. The rider may select one of two traction control modes: Standard Mode is optimized for dry surfaces; Rain Mode is optimized for wet surfaces. The system can also be turned off. The action of C-TCS is also tailored when cornering based on lean angle.
This technology is standard on all 2020-later LiveWire and CVO models and optional on most 2020-later Touring models.
Drag-Torque Slip Control System (DSCS)
Cornering Enhanced Drag-Torque Slip Control System (C-DSCS)
Drag-Torque Slip Control (DSCS) is designed to reduce excessive rear-wheel slip under deceleration, which typically occurs when the rider makes an abrupt down-shift gear change or decelerates abruptly on wet or slippery road surfaces. When DSCS detects excessive rear wheel slip under deceleration it will adjust engine torque delivery to better match rear-wheel speed to road speed. On models equipped with C-DSCS the action of DSCS may be tailored when cornering, based on detected lean angle (two-wheel motorcycles) or lateral acceleration (Trike models).
DSCS is standard on all 2020-later CVO models and optional on most 2020-later Touring models. C-DSCS is standard on all 2020-later Trike models.
Vehicle Hold Control (VHC)
Vehicle Hold Control (VHC) applies and holds brake pressure when activated and prevents the motorcycle from rolling after the rider has released the brake controls. The primary function of VHC is to prevent the motorcycle from rolling when it is stopped, for example at a stop sign on a hill, in stop-and-go traffic on a slope, or on a steep decline out of a parking structure. VHC is designed to make it easier to ride away with confidence by minimizing the number of controls needed to pull away smoothly. The system applies brake pressure until the rider actuates the throttle and clutch to pull away. VHC may also be engaged when the motorcycle is stopped on a flat surface if the rider wants to maintain position without applying pressure to a brake control.
The rider activates VHC by momentarily applying extra pressure to either the front-brake hand lever or the rear-brake foot control after the motorcycle has come to a complete stop. If rider brakes very hard to a stop, and holds the brake pressure after stopping, VHC may also set without any added squeeze. A VHC indicator light will illuminate to confirm that the rider has activated VHC, and the ABS system will hold brake pressure after the rider releases the brake control. VHC is disengaged automatically as the rider begins to pull away from a stop, or if the rider applies and releases either brake control.
VHC is not to be used as a parking brake, so it will also disengage if the rider lowers the side stand (on models with a side-stand sensor, not a feature in all markets) or shifts into neutral on models without a side-stand sensor, or if the engine is turned off. In most situations after five minutes the indicator light will flash and the VHC will release if there is no rider action.
This feature is standard on 2020-later CVO™ models and optional on most 2020-later Touring models. VHC is not intended as a substitute for a parking brake in any situation.
Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)
TPMS alerts the rider to low tire air pressure. Maintaining proper tire air pressure is important both for vehicle performance and tire life. The TPMS displays current front and rear tire pressure on the Boom!™ Box GTS screen (or on the odometer on Road King® models) and displays an indicator to alert the rider when tire pressure is low, and the pressure should be checked.
TPMS is part of the collection of RDRS Safety Enhancements and is also available as a stand-alone accessory through Harley-Davidson® Genuine Motor Parts & Accessories for 2020-later Touring models (except Japan) equipped with original equipment or accessory wheels that accept a TPMS sensor.

This headset also fulfills the Apple CarPlay microphone requirement for the Boom!™ Box GTS.

2021 Harley-Davidson CVO Street Glide First Look (5 Fast Facts + Photos)
The 2021 Harley-Davidson CVO Street Glide is here, and it has several updates. Returning is the Milwaukee-Eight 177 V-twin powerplant that cranks out a gruff 126 ft-lbs of torque at 3750 rpm, along with the RDRS Safety Enhancements to help tame the beast. There are quite a few new features, so let’s take a look.
- The new CVO Street Glide gets a new Rockford Fosgate sound system. A new amp puts out 100 watts per channel to four Rockford Fosgate Stage 2 three-way speakers. You get 6.5-inch speakers in the fairing and 5” x 7” speakers in the saddlebags. Don’t worry about overpowering the speakers—each of them can handle 125 watts of power. If you want even more Harley-Davidson Audio Powered by Rockford Fosgate offers upgrades that top out at eight speakers driven by a pair of 400-watt amplifiers. As before, the Boom! Box GTS infotainment system sends the signal to the sound system.
- The instrument faces get a new look.
- The console light on the CVO Street Glide is now an LED.
- The new colors are always eagerly anticipated, and there is no disappointment. There are three color and finish options on this year's CVO Street Glide:
- Sunset Orange & Sunset Black Fade with satin chrome finishes
- Great White Pearl with gloss black and black onyx finishes

2021 Harley-Davidson CVO Lineup Announced
The Harley-Davidson Custom Vehicle Operations lineup returns four models for 2021, offering the most exclusive components and styling the company has to offer. The four CVO models are the same as last year, consisting of the CVO Limited , CVO Street Glide , CVO Road Glide , and the CVO Tri Glide threewheeler.
For 2021, the CVO lineup receives a new audio system powered by Rockford Fosgate. Specific features vary depending on the model, but they all incorporate Harley-Davidson’s Boom! Box GTS infotainment system. Each CVO model also comes with a Boom! Audio 30K Bluetooth helmet set.
All four CVO models come equipped with the Milwaukee-Eight V-Twin engine, displacing 117 ci (1923cc) and claiming a peak output of 125 lb-ft. of torque.
All CVO models come standard with the RDRS Safety Enhancements electronics as standard equipment. This includes cornering linked braking, cornering ABS, cornering traction control, drag-torque slip control, vehicle hold control and a tire pressure monitoring system.
The CVO Limited and CVO Street Glide also come standard with the Daymaker adaptive LED headlight that provides additional lighting while leaning into corners.
2021 Harley-Davidson CVO Road Glide
For 2021, the CVO Road Glide is equipped with a new 21-inch cast aluminum wheel with laced spokes and a matching 18-inch rear wheel. The CVO Street Glide also gets a new LED console light and new instrument faces. This year, Harley-Davidson decided to equip the CVO Street Glide with its standard-length saddlebags instead of the extended-length bags used on the 2020 model.
The 2021 CVO Road Glide receives the Stage II version of the audio system, which includes a four-channel 400-watt amplifier, 6.5-inch speakers in the fairing and the saddlebags, each rated at 125 watts.
The CVO Road Glide comes with a custom Fang Front Spoiler, dual Daymaker LED headlights and a Screamin’ Eagle Heavy Breather intake claims improved air flow and a hot-rod style. Other features include heated grips, and shifter pegs, brake pedal cover, muffler end caps, and rider and passenger boards from Harley’s Kahuna collection.
The custom paint options include Sunset Orange Fade/Sunset Black with satin chrome finishes, Black Hole with gloss black and black onyx finishes, or Bronze Armor with smoked satin and gloss black finishes.
2021 Harley-Davidson CVO Limited
The CVO Limited receives a new LED console light and new instrument faces. It also gets the Stage I audio system, which includes four two-way speakers (placed in the fairing and Tour-Pak), powered by a single, four-channel 300-watt amplifier.
Returning features include the 19-inch front and 18-inch rear Tomahawk wheels in Gloss Black and Contrast Satin. The CVO limited also gets heated grips, shifter pegs, brake pedal cover, muffler end caps, and rider and passenger boards from the Kahuna collection.
The 2021 CVO Limited paint options are Royal Purple Fade/Royal Black with chrome finishes and Bronze Armor with smoked chrome finishes.

The 2021 CVO Street Glide receives the Stage II version of the audio system, which includes a four-channel 400-watt amplifier, 6.5-inch speakers in the fairing and the saddlebags, each rated at 125 watts.

The CVO Tri Glide receives new instrument faces and the Stage I version of the audio system which includes four Boom two-way speakers (mounted in the fairing and Tour-Pak), all powered by a single 4-channel 300-watt amp.
The 2021 CVO Tri Glide paint options include Sunset Orange/Sunset Black with chrome finishes and Charred Crimson with black finishes.

The throttle side is honed out and notched for fly by wire. Laser cut tubing yields the smoothest corners we can provide so the wires roll right through and out the generous slot at the bottom. Damn these bars are bitching! When we took to tricking out a Street Glide we wanted to combine chopper styling and attitude. We killed it! Since we introduced the Meathook Bars we’ve seen some guys trying to copy them. But the quality is simply not there. They made straight corners instead of the sexy and smooth arched points. They also have made no consideration for internal wiring where we work the inside of our bars to make your wires go through smooth like butter! Ride comfort and easy installation make choosing Dominator Industries handlebars to customize your bike a no-brainer.
All of our parts are hand-made in the USA employing a multi-step manufacturing process using the finest materials. Tube diameter is 1.25” stepped down to 1” for stock/conventional controls. Both grips have 0.5” x 2” slots laser cut for internal wiring. The throttle side is honed out and notched for fly by wire but also fits cable throttle systems. Laser cut tubing yields the smoothest corners with no slag for easy wiring. The Knurled Center for non-slip grip on our handlebars is engineered to be a direct custom replacement for stock equipment.

2021 Harley-Davidson CVO model lineup details
Harley-Davidson Custom Vehicle Operations represent the pinnacle of Harley-Davidson style and design. Created for the most discerning customers, the 2021 CVO models offer show-stopping finishes, advanced technology, exclusive components and attention to detail that borders on obsessive, engineered and assembled to factory-quality standards and backed by the Harley-Davidson limited warranty. The Milwaukee-Eight 117 powertrain — the most displacement and power offered in a motorcycle straight from the Harley-Davidson factory — is exclusive to four limited-production, premium CVO models.
CVO models for 2021 include the CVO Limited, the CVO Street Glide, the CVO Road Glide and the CVO Tri Glide. Each 2021 CVO model features new paint and graphics. The CVO Road Glide and CVO Street Glide models introduce high-fidelity Stage II Harley-Davidson Audio powered by Rockford Fosgate.
Styling Choices
CVO models feature exclusive paint colors and designs executed to a level of intricate quality that is unmatched in the motorcycle and automotive categories. CVO models are also used to introduce new finish treatments that are used as alternatives to traditional chrome.
To appeal to a broad range of customer tastes, CVO models are created with distinctly different styling treatments marrying curated color palettes and finishes. Three styling choices are offered for the CVO Street Glide and CVO Road Glide models, from a look with a bright powertrain and chrome details with two-tone paint, to a combination of dark and bright finishes with a fade paint treatment, to a very dark look with a monochrome paint. Two styling choices are offered for the CVO Limited and the CVO Tri Glide models — a bright powertrain and chrome detail with two-tone paint or a dark look with a monochrome paint.

The Milwaukee-Eight 117 V-Twin engine is exclusive to CVO models and is currently the most-powerful engine offered in the Harley-Davidson model line.

Designed to deliver ultra-clear highs, super-clean midrange, and ground-thumping bass, these amplified three-way speakers feature a durable injection molded woofer and a separate bridge-mounted midrange and tweeter speakers. Each speaker unit is rated to handle up to 150 watts of power and designed to deliver outrageous volume with less distortion for amazing sound, even at highway speeds.

Powerful, intelligent amplifier technology has been engineered to perform in the demanding motorcycle environment. This new, compact amplifier (8.13″ x 5.39″ x 2.01″) is installed in the motorcycle saddlebag. A single amplifier powers two sets of Harley-Davidson Audio powered by Rockford Fosgate Stage II speakers. Power rating is 100 watts per channel x 4 @ 2ohms.
CVO Model Audio Systems
CVO Street Glide model: Boom! Box GTS infotainment system with Harley-Davidson Audio powered by Rockford Fosgate Stage II 3-way, 6.5” fairing speakers, 125 watts RMS power handling per speaker and Stage II 3-way 5”x7” saddlebag speakers, 125 watts RMS power handling per speaker. The system is powered by a 4-channel, 400-watt RMS amplifier.
CVO Road Glide model: Boom! Box GTS infotainment system with Harley-Davidson Audio powered by Rockford Fosgate Stage II 3-way 6.5” fairing speakers, 125 watts RMS power handling per speaker and Stage II 3-way 5”x7” saddlebag speakers, 125 watts RMS power handling per speaker. The system is powered by a 4-channel, 400-watt RMS amplifier.
CVO™ Limited model: Boom! Box GTS infotainment system with four Boom! Stage I 2-way speakers (located in fairing and Tour-Pak luggage), powered by a single, 4-channel, 300-watt RMS amplifier.

RDRS Safety Enhancements
RDRS Safety Enhancements (formerly known as RDRS), is a collection of technology designed to enhance rider confidence during unexpected situations or poor road conditions, and is standard technology on each 2021 CVO model. RDRS Safety Enhancements are designed to match motorcycle performance to available traction during acceleration, deceleration and braking, in a straight line or while in a turn.
The systems are electronic and utilize the latest chassis control, electronic brake control and powertrain technology. Elements of RDRS Safety Enhancements include Cornering Enhanced Electronic Linked Braking (C-ELB), Cornering Enhanced Antilock Braking System (C-ABS), Cornering Enhanced Traction Control System (C-TCS), Drag-Torque Slip Control System (DSCS), Vehicle Hold Control (VHC), and Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).
- Daymaker Adaptive LED Headlamp
The 2021 CVO Limited and CVO Street Glide models are equipped with a Daymaker Adaptive LED Headlamp, the most-advanced headlamp system ever developed for a Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Patented sensors and electronics integrated into the headlamp control 12 additional LED lights that activate based on the lean of the bike to project light into corners to illuminate areas of the road that may be unlit by traditional LED headlamps.
Wireless Headset
Each 2021 CVO motorcycle is shipped with a Boom! Audio 30K Bluetooth Helmet Headset, which connects via Bluetooth interface with the Boom! Box GTS infotainment system and eliminates fussing with cords. The headset features Mesh Intercom Network protocol that automatically connects to a near limitless number of riders while in public mode — no more lost group connections when someone goes out of range — and can connect with up to 16 riders in private mode at a range of up to 5 miles (8.05km). This headset also fulfills the Apple CarPlay microphone requirement for the Boom! Box GTS.

After having a good amount of time on the indian challenger and the new road glide harley is not even close us harley fans should have demanded a real motorbike years ago but we let them run on the popularity now are bikes suck and the motor company hasnt responded we need to take a look at triumph and indian and maybe we could get a clue disgruntled ex harley mechanic

That's a kick ass paint job there, great looking bike. I have yet to see that 2022 paint scheme on an RG in person. I think this and the red flamed bikes were a bit slow getting to market. I've run a chopped TP for 11 years and I find it to be the perfect size for daily use. I paid the big $$$ for the quick detach hdwe. but once I had it on there for a couple weeks, I wondered how I ever got along without a TP. Mine comes off 1-2 times a year for a deep bike cleaning. Enjoy that new beauty.
Does the MoCo offer a Razor & a Chopped ? To my understanding both share the same bottom, different lids
H-D does NOT make a razor in the Rushmore style TP. Only the King and the Chopped. The same lid different bottoms. You can get a knock off razor.
