The European Challenge Tour today announced its global 2023 Road to Mallorca schedule, featuring a record overall prize fund and a minimum of 29 tournaments, staged across three continents in 18 different countries.

Players will compete for total prize money of €8,200,000 on the 2023 Road to Mallorca, which will begin with the Bain’s Whisky Cape Town Open in February, the first of four co-sanctioned events with the Sunshine Tour in South Africa.

India returns as a host country for the first time since 2013 with two events in March, the Duncan Taylor Black Bull Challenge followed by The Challenge presented by KGA.

The Challenge Tour also returns to the United Arab Emirates in April for the first time since 2018 with back-to-back events, including the Abu Dhabi Challenge, as part of the European Tour group’s long-term partnership with the Emirates Golf Federation.

The Challenge Tour will head to Spain in May for the Challenge de España, which will kick-start a run of 20 tournaments in 22 weeks and see the Road to Mallorca travel through 15 countries in Europe, including Italy for the Italian Challenge at Golf Nazionale, the venue which will then host the first two days of the 2023 Junior Ryder Cup in September.

The 2023 season will conclude with the Rolex Challenge Tour Grand Final supported by The R&A, at Club de Golf Alcanada from November 2-5, as the top 45 players on the Rankings battle it out for one of the life changing 20 DP World Tour cards.

Those 20 players who benefit from this formal pathway to the DP World Tour will then be eligible for the DP World Tour’s Earnings Assurance Programme, guaranteeing them minimum earnings of $150,000 for the 2024 season if they play in 15 or more events.

The top five graduates will also benefit from the John Jacobs Bursary, similarly designed to provide security and a strong platform for their first season on the European Tour group’s top tier.

Jamie Hodges, Head of Challenge Tour, said: “Our expansive global schedule gives our members the opportunity to play for a record total prize fund and benefit from our formal pathway to the DP World Tour, as we continue to provide an incredible platform for the next generation of golf’s superstars.

“I would like to thank the integral support of our promoters, national federations, and tournament sponsors, who have helped make this possible. The fact that 20 of our current national federations and promoters have extended their support through to next year is testament to their commitment and the strength of our Tour heading into 2023.

“We are also very grateful for the commitment of Rolex, The R&A, and DP World through their title partnership of the DP World Tour, all of whom have helped us to provide this comprehensive global schedule for some of the brightest talents in world golf.”

In 2022, 25 former Challenge Tour players won on the DP World Tour – including 2021 graduates Ewen Ferguson and Yannik Paul, while five finished inside the top ten on the DP World Tour Rankings in Partnership with Rolex. Sean Crocker became the 200th former Challenge Tour player to win on the DP World Tour when he secured a wire-to-wire victory at the Hero Open, while the total number of wins by Challenge Tour alumni is now 544.

How To Earn A European Tour Card

There are many ways to qualify for a European Tour card which gives membership to the European Tour, now known as the DP World Tour

  • Sign up to Golf Monthly Newsletter Newsletter

Q-School leaderboard European Tour Card

There are two basic ways to get a European Tour card and thus membership of the European Tour, or DP World Tour as it is now known : you have it and retain it, or you qualify to move onto the Tour. There are many different routes to retain membership, just as there are for qualification.

The DP World tour operates, in effect, a promotion and relegation system with the Challenge Tour. It used to be that the top 110 on the Race to Dubai were guaranteed ‘staying up’ and the top players on the Challenge Tour’s Road to Mallorca were ‘promoted’. Those promoted this way used to be the top 15 but with Q-School (more of which later) suspended during the pandemic, it has been the top 20. Similarly, it has been the top 121 on the Race to Dubai who have ‘stayed up’ recently.

There are other ways to retain Tour membership which do not rely upon the final position in the Race to Dubai. Winning a DP World Tour event earns exemption from ‘relegation’, with the more prestigious the tournament, the more the number of seasons exemption a victory earns. Race to Dubai winners also gain lengthy exemptions. Some players can even retain membership on the basis of career performances, under a category of membership known rather delightfully and officially as ‘Legends’.

But how can you qualify for the Tour for the next season if not already on it during the current season? Well, a strong finishing position on the Challenge Tour’s order of merit is one way. Winning the order of merit of other selected tours around the world also brings with it DP World Tour membership.

But what if you are a golfer who fancies joining the Tour and none of the above applies? For them there is Qualifying School, or Q-School as it is known.

This was not held in 2020 or 2021 because of the pandemic. But ordinarily it is run over three stages and the top 25 in the final stage earn Tour membership. Some players are exempt from having to enter at stage one, and automatically qualify for either stage two or stage three.

Stages one and two are four-round tournaments at various venues. Stage three is a six-round tournament at one venue in Spain (most recently at in Tarragona at Lumine Golf Club , now renamed Infinitum )  with 156 entrants, with a cut after four rounds. The top 25 win Tour membership.

It costs to enter Q-School – the fee was €1,800 in 2019, the last time Q-School has been held. That year 842 golfers teed it up in the first stage across nine different venues with 183 players qualifying through this process to join those players whose exemption took them straight into stage two.

You do not need to become a PGA Professional if you fancy a shot at Tour glory and a European Tour card. The good news is any male amateur golfer can enter Q-School so long as they have a handicap of 0.4 or lower. The bad news is that shot is probably the longest of longshots: the last time Q-School was held, more than 1,000 golfers entered in quest of those 25 spots.

How to complete the Worlds Championship Tour challenge in Destiny 2

Image of Nicholas Taifalos

Guardian Games 2024 is coming to a close in Destiny 2 and many guardians are scrambling to complete their remaining challenges, but one in particular is tripping many players up: The Worlds Championship Tour challenge .

Bungie will have you galivanting all over the system trying to complete this task, but players have found a much easier way to accomplish the task and unlock that sweet Guardian Games title. Here’s how to finish the Worlds Championship Tour challenge in Destiny 2 .

How do you complete the Worlds Championship Tour challenge in Destiny 2 ?

A screenshot of the Guardian Games Worlds Championship Tour challenge in Destiny 2

To complete the Worlds Championship Tour challenge in Destiny 2 , you must finish Destination activities such as Blind Well, Altars of Sorrow, Empire Hunts, the Wellspring, Partition, and Terminal Overload.

Here’s a quick rundown of the activities that count and where to go to complete them:

  • Blind Well : Can be started from the Destinations menu in the Dreaming City.
  • Altars of Sorrow : Open activity found at Sorrow’s Harbor on the Moon.
  • Empire Hunts : Can be started on Europa. Higher difficulties grant more progression.
  • Wellspring : Matchmade activity on Savathun’s Throne World. Higher difficulties grant more progression.
  • Partition : Open activity found in Neomuna on Neptune. Rotates daily between each main location, currently found in Zephyr Concourse.
  • Terminal Overload : Can be started from the Destinations menu in Neomuna on Neptune.

You aren’t told specifically how many you need to complete here, but each Destiny 2 activity gives a slightly different percentage towards the total. I enjoy running Terminal Overload, but it has been noted by players you can receive the most progression by completing a full run of Altars of Sorrow on the Moon . The boss alone gives 26 percent, and once you add on completing the other tiers, you’ll be done in three runs or so.

Rewards for completing the Worlds Championship Tour challenge in Destiny 2

Reaching 100 percent completes the challenge, which rewards you with 15,000 Glimmer, three Enhancement Cores, a Gold Medallion for the Guardian Games, and an Event Ticket .

Crucially, this Destiny 2 challenge needs to be completed if you want to unlock the prestigious Guardian Games 2024 “Champ” title , so get over to the Moon and smash out some Altars of Sorrow before the event concludes on March 26 .

The Challenge rumors: Season 40 details and All Stars update arrive via insider

the challenge host tj lavin face shot from season 39

As The Challenge: All Stars 4 is about to premiere, another season of MTV’s competition series is also filming outside the United States.

Fans hope that Season 40 of the show is one of the best on the network in recent memory, as it could be one of its final entries.

Meanwhile, additional updates have arrived about what the cast deals with as they film for the season.

There is also an intriguing update regarding the future of The Challenge: All Stars spin-off.

This report may contain minor spoilers related to The Challenge on MTV and Paramount+.

The Challenge Season 40 rumors arrive from filming

The Challenge Season 40 is filming in Vietnam, and things may be rough for the cast.

Based on a tweet from the well-known spoiler account @GamerVev on Twitter, the cast deals with a challenging living situation.

According to GamerVev, “living conditions are horrible” as there are only two bathrooms, both of which are PortaPotties.

In addition, the showers are supposedly “awful,” and the available food is “terrible.”

screenshot of gamervev tweet about the challenge season 40 living conditions

It wouldn’t be the first time that The Challenge cast members have dealt with less-than-ideal conditions, but this could also be a budget situation due to the number of individuals involved.

The premiere season of CBS’ The Challenge: USA spin-off featured the entire cast sleeping on beds in a large warehouse-like environment, and supposedly wasn’t the best of living conditions.

Regarding MTV seasons, cast members have previously mentioned that Total Madness was a difficult experience because it involved cold weather and living in an underground bunker.

In more recent seasons, cast members have stayed in expensive-looking mansions, so what The Challenge house looks like for Season 40 should be interesting.

Exciting update about The Challenge: All Stars

Another update from the same insider suggests that The Challenge: All Stars will have a fifth season.

Based on their tweet, Paramount ordered another season and “pushed filming up from what they originally planned.”

The early expectation is that All Stars 5 will film this summer. While it’s unconfirmed and there’s no premiere date, it could arrive sometime after Season 40 airs episodes on MTV.

The Challenge All Stars 5 will be happening! 🤩 Paramount ordered another season & actually pushed filming up from what they originally planned. It is expected to film during the summer. Let’s hope for a cast of OG returns & not OG repeats! 🤞 #TheChallengeAllStars pic.twitter.com/TsgJYmbMwq — GamerVev (@GamerVev) March 26, 2024

Fans are already anticipating what looks to be a great installment for All Stars with Season 4. The latest cast includes some of the show’s top women’s champions, including Cara Maria Sorbello and Laurel Stucky.

In addition, the upcoming spin-off features MTV OGs, including Kam Williams, Leroy Garrett, Tony Raines, Nicole Zanatta, Brandon Nelson, Averey Tressler, and Adam Larson.

The Challenge: All Stars 4 premiers Wednesday, April 10 on Paramount+.

Here Are the Contenders Primed to Challenge Cycling’s Dominant Duo in the Giro and Tour de France

[table-of-contents] stripped

As we grow nearer to Grand Tour season, the story is no doubt going to center around cycling’s two biggest names: Tadej Pogačar and Jonas Vingegaard. Can Pog pull off the Giro/Tour double? If he’s going to, he’ll have to vanquish Vingegaard, the only rider who’s been able to go toe-to-toe with Pogačar. On the other side of the coin, can Vingegaard go three-for-three, becoming just the ninth rider to win at least three Tours (and the sixth to win three consecutively)?

But what about the other riders in the peloton who have a real chance at dethroning the two-headed monster? Surely there are more names to watch than just Pogi and Jonas, more riders who— like Sepp Kuss did in last year’s Vuelta —can shock the world by taking down the giants.

Here are the contenders primed to challenge cycling's dominant duo in the Giro d’Italia and Tour de France :

Remco Evenepoel

There’s no denying that Evenepoel is one of the most talented riders in the WorldTour ranks. And with a pair of Liège-Bastonge-Liège wins and a Vuelta win, he already has a palmarès that most riders dream of. But after a bitterly disappointing Giro abandonment last season and years of answering questions about when he’s going to race the Tour, the time may be here for Evenepoel to exorcize some of the demons and answer the questions that always seem to be following him around.

Yes, he’s won a Grand Tour, but it wasn’t the Grand Tour. Maybe 2024, his Tour debut, is the year to rectify that for and with his Soudal-Quick Step team.

Primož Roglič

With a new team in Bora-Hansgrohe, Roglič will once again be looking to avenge one of the most bitter losses in cycling history: to recapture the Tour de France win that he was just one heartbreaking stage away from in 2020.

That 2020 loss, combined with Vingegaard’s unexpected ascension, pushed Roglič to the fringes of the Grand Boucle. Now, he’ll head into France as the undisputed team leader. And while Roglič’s had a less-than-stellar season thus far, according to Bora’s performance director Rolf Aldag, all eyes are on the Tour for Roglič and his team.

Cian Uijtdebroeks

Just twenty years old, Ujitdebroeks is heading into the Giro with expectations that are simultaneously high and reasonable. Early reports are that the Visma-Lease a Bike all-rounder will be chasing both stage wins and the pink jersey.

Uijtdebroeks finished eighth in last summer’s Vuelta a España and none of the seven riders ahead of him are slated to start the Giro. Of course, it’ll help his cause that he’ll have Wout van Aert, perhaps the world’s greatest domestique, working for him throughout Italy.

Ben O’Connor

Last year, Ben O’Connor asked his French team, Decathlon-AS2R La Mondiale, if he could shift his focus from the Tour de France to the Giro d’Italia. After two consecutive Tours marred by crashes, sickness, and just plain bad luck, O’Connor is hoping to right his ship with a go at the pink jersey.

To the surprise of many, AG2R acquiesced and, as O’Connor has the most WorldTour points of any Giro entrants as of this writing, early returns say they may have made the right move.

Geraint Thomas

Like Pogačar, Ineos Grenadiers’ Geraint Thomas is targeting the Giro/Tour double. He’ll be the team’s sole GC hunter in Italy, as he aims to avenge the pink jersey he lost to Primož Roglič on the penultimate stage of last year’s Giro.

The picture in France gets a bit murkier, as Ineos will be sending Tom Pidcock and Carlos Rodríguez both to the start line in June, making Thomas’s hunt for a second yellow jersey—he won the Tour 2018—a far less straightforward proposition.

Alexsandr Vlasov

The 27-year-old Bora-Hansgrohe rider raised plenty of eyebrows at the dawn of this season when he said he would let the road decide whether he would race for or against his new teammate—and presumed team leader—Primož Roglič.

Well, the reality of that statement might come to a head sooner rather than later. Vlasov has been looking strong this spring, with his most eye-catching performance coming in Paris-Nice, where he finished fifth overall, seventh in the points classification, and fourth in the KOM race. Roglič, on the other hand, finished that race tenth, eleventh, and tenth in those very same classifications.

Simon Yates

Whereas so many riders are bolstered by hype, Simon Yates’s chances for a surprise Tour victory are supported by the fact that he just always seems to be there, near the front, toe-to-toe with the best and the brightest. The Jayco-AlUla leader, who finished fourth overall in 2023, will be making his seventh Tour appearance, so he knows the race as well as just about any of the other contenders. But more than anything, he’ll likely need a few breaks to roll his way.

Jai Hindley

The 2022 Giro champion is expected to ride in support of Roglič in the Tour. But we all know how mercurial Roglič can be, which means Hindley may be presented with a sudden and unexpected chance to fight for the yellow jersey.

Sepp Kuss, Juan Ayuso, and Adam Yates

I’m combining these three, as their longshot potential to make a run at GC would depend on Vingeaard and/or Pogačar blowing up or abandoning, neither of which either does very often. Kuss has shown that he has the strength and the grit to win a Grand Tour, but his shot at the yellow jersey would wholly depend on whether or not Vingegaard is at or near the front.

The same goes for Ayuso and Yates, who will both ride in support of Pogačar this summer. Yates finished third in last year’s Tour, proving that he’s much more than just another domestique. Meanwhile, all signs have been pointing to UAE Team Emirates grooming the 21-year-old Ayuso to be something of a 1A to Pogačar.

We look beyond Tadej Pogačar and Jonas Vingegaard and into the riders who are set to bring the heat to this year’s Grand Tours.

Guess notable geocache locations on GeoGuessr during The Geocaching Challenge

We’re excited to announce a special limited-time collaboration between Geocaching HQ and GeoGuessr!

GeoGuessr is an interactive geography game that transports players to random locations around the world using Google Street View. Just like geocaching, players must employ their navigation and deduction skills (aka, geo-senses) when guessing their precise location. The more accurately a player guesses, the more points they earn. Geocachers can even earn a limited edition souvenir!

From secluded mountain panoramas to bustling city centers, The Geocaching Challenge features ten places inspired by real-world geocaching locations and is free to participate.

As you play, you might recognize some familiar landmarks. It’s important to note that The Geocaching Challenge does not involve real-life geocaching. Instead, our goal is to highlight memorable locations, invite new explorers to our global community, and—most importantly—inspire future outdoor adventure!

In order to earn the limited-time souvenir:

  • Play The Geocaching Challenge between March 26–April 12 and correctly identify at least one location.
  • Find the hidden tracking code on the completion message screen.
  • Discover the code at Geocaching.com before April 12, 2024 to earn a special souvenir.

If you couldn’t find the hidden tracking code, don’t worry—a second tracking code will appear at the end of the game after guessing all ten locations. Discovering either tracking code will earn the souvenir.

NOTE: Geocaching HQ gives permission for these trackables to be discovered virtually.

The best experience is on desktop and this game will not appear in the GeoGuessr mobile app.
