No matter what the circumstances are, Spock tends to think logically and relies on science and math. So much so that when the crew is affected by a virus and can't control their emotions and behavior, Spock even sobs mathematically.

The best thing about this meme is that it was created by accident, presumably thanks to the automatic English captions on YouTube which aren't always accurate but are often a lot of fun.

14 Kirk Doesn't Approve

Spock and Kirk were close friends, and some Star Trek fans believe they were something more. Whatever the case, if they decided to celebrate their 50th anniversary together, it's not such a stretch to imagine that Spock might indeed offer to cook... and Kirk would be less than thrilled about it.

Just like multiple things Vulcan, the Vulcan cuisine is also an acquired taste, and it takes some time for humans to get used to it. The most likely scenario in this case is that Kirk will try to eat a burger in secrecy somewhere!

13 The Fabulous Spock

Vulcans, and Spock by extension, aren't usually interested in their physical appearance and whether others consider them beautiful or attractive. That being said, Spock had a special knack for looking fabulous even in the middle of missions, and even when he didn't wear such a decoration as he did in this meme.

Of the main character in Star Trek : The Original Series , Kirk was the womanizer, but Spock also won multiple hearts over the course of the series, albeit not as many as his Captain.

12 The Usefulness Of The Guys In Red

One of the things that people wondered about when it came to the original Star Trek series was why Kirk and Spock kept beaming down on unexplored and potentially dangerous planets and missions when they had a ship full of people who could go instead. Well, as this meme answers, it was because they had a security buffer in the form of the red shirts.

The high mortality among the red shirts has long since become an ongoing joke, suggesting that wearing a red shirt on the Enterprise is equal to a death sentence. And even though Spock normally doesn't spend time thinking about such things, even the logical Vulcan would no doubt agree with this assessment.

11 The Curious Scientist

One thing that makes Spock unique is his scientific curiosity. Even so, Spock's curiosity has limits. It's hard to imagine Spock killing a random red shirt just to figure out what it's all about. On the other hand, he could certainly try his famous neck nerve pinch on a red shirt because as all Star Trek fans will know, the neck nerve pinch isn't fatal.

Spock had repeatedly used his against others, even his fellow crew members, such as Mr. Sulu when he threatened the crew with his sword in yet another normal day on the star ship Enterprise.

10 Health Issues

Even though he's the first officer, one of the most important people on the ship, Spock still goes on dangerous missions with his Captain . And he probably welcomes the chance to be as far away from his station as possible.

The station's design is far from clever since it forces Spock to bend his back regularly which can't be healthy for his spine and neck. It's true he's a half-Vulcan, but even they have to draw the line somewhere. In other words - finally, give the man some chair!

9 Perfect Control

Spock, as well as the rest of his race, keeps good control of his emotions. That doesn't mean he doesn't have any feelings - he just mostly keeps them under wraps.

Yet somehow, when Spock breaks, he's even more intense in expressing what he feels than any of his human crew-members. And it doesn't matter how much he tries to pretend he's got it under control.

8 An Alien In An Alien City

In the fourth Star Trek film, Star Trek: The Voyage Home (1986), the crew goes back in time to the 80s to save whales and bring them back into the future. They end up in San Francisco and Kirk and Spock go on their merry way, completely unaware of the current customs.

Yet, somehow they manage not to get arrested and don't even draw too much attention to themselves - even though they act like aliens and also look a bit like ones.

7 Animal Magnet

Even though his people aren't very warm and welcoming, Spock still ends up being an animal magnet in the show. The tribbles who threaten to overflow the Enterprise react positively to his presence - even though they hate Klingons.

And there's also the case of this cat who let Spock pet it , and looked perfectly satisfied. Perhaps animals can somehow sense that Vulcans condone violence and that Spock would never hurt them, so they trust him.

6 Not The Best Moment

Star Trek: The Original Series has plenty of amazing episodes that stood the test of time - and then there are some not so great. Especially the scripts in the third season sometimes left a lot to be desired. One example is the episode Spock's Brain in which a group of aliens steals Spock's brain.

And the Enterprise has to get it back before Spock dies. There's something wrong with it on many levels but let's just say the aliens' problems could be solved without stealing any body parts.

5 Spock Knows Best

In his work on the Enterprise, Spock has to deal with many humans. And not all of them are as smart as him - or as logical, at least . That leads to multiple situations where Spock has to explain seemingly uncomplicated things to them.

And when they refuse to understand it or simply can't, that's when the time comes to use some famous Spock sarcasm... and also some crayons.

4 Gangster Spock

As said above, Vulcans don't like violence. That doesn't mean Spock is afraid to use weapons as props - at least when the situation asks for it. When he and Kirk go on one of their missions and end up surrounded by gangsters , Spock poses as one of them.

And in doing so, he looks ultra-cool. So much so that it's hard to imagine someone can compare to him. Spock's level of coolness is simply out of any charts.

3 Not Doing So Great

Even though Vulcans traveled through the solar system before, they only visited the Earth in 2063. The first contact between Vulcans and humans was also the first time humans learned aliens were real . And the two species remain friends, even though they're vastly different.

Spock was always quick to point out humans weren't all that great. But that didn't stop him from being Kirk's good friend, a best friend even.

2 Sass Alert

Spock has a human mom and a Vulcan father. That means he better connects to his emotions than most Vulcans. And he also has a wicked sense of humor, albeit it might pass unnoticed for most people. At least those who will fail to understand Spock's sarcasm and sass.

But the Enterprise's crew, Kirk especially, is tuned to Spock, and they can recognize his sass from a mile away.

1 Failing At His Job

Spock is excellent at his job as the first officer... except when he isn't. He's the one who should tell Kirk when he's behaving in an irrational or reckless way and propose a better solution. But Kirk rarely ever listens to reason. In fact, he seems to thrive on doing the opposite of what Spock suggests.

It's his only luck these two are such great friends otherwise Spock could have thrown the towel in the ring a long time ago. Dealing with stubborn ship captains simply isn't easy, not even for super-logical Vulcans.

Star trek: 10 vulcan memes that are too funny.

Some exceptional Vulcans like Spock have given into their emotions. Thus, memes were made to make fun of this contrast and Vulcan society in general.

Among the various alien races that exist in the Star Trek universe, one of the most well-known ones is arguably the Vulcan race. From the planet of the same name, they are human in appearance but with pointed ears and slanted eyebrows.

 Their most well-known trait is their lack of emotional response to things, as part of the society’s belief that emotions are bad following the aftermath of an incredibly violent past.  Yet, some exceptional Vulcans like Spock have given into their emotions. Thus, memes were created to make fun of this contrast and Vulcan society in general.

From an early age, Vulcans are intensely educated with machines, as we clearly saw in the 2009 reboot of Star Trek .  So one can assume that most Vulcans are intelligent, which is demonstrated by Spock numerous times throughout the original Star Trek TV series.

Such is also the case in the above meme, where we see Spock playing Tri-Dimensional Chess which is notoriously difficult to play. But what makes this meme funny is that it claims being a Vulcan makes planning during a game much easier as opposed to just thinking ahead strategy-wise.

Despite their lack of emotions, the Vulcans in Star Trek  have surprisingly mystical abilities. One such example is the Vulcan Mind Meld, where a Vulcan can literally read another individual’s mind by simply touching them.

This, in turn, has been referenced in pop-culture countless times and made fun of, as we see here with a picture of former US President Barack Obama touching a cow the same way a Vulcan would touch an individual’s face before attempting a Mind Meld.  The humor comes from the meme’s tagline which points out that neither Obama nor the cow are Vulcan, so the supposed Mind Meld that we’re seeing wouldn’t actually work.

Dear God Niles

There are multiple layers to this meme’s hilarity, and they all require unpacking to understand. First of all, the meme’s upper tagline is a reference to Niles Crane from the Cheers'  spinoff show Frasier whose catchphrase was “Dear God”, which he always said in reaction to ridiculous things.

Yet the person in the picture isn’t Niles but rather Captain Morgan Bateson from the famous  Star Trek: The Next Generation episode “ Cause and Effect ” where Jean-Luc Picard’s crew get caught in a time-loop involving their ship crashing into Morgan’s vessel which jumped ahead in time beforehand.  Then the cherry on top is the lower tagline, which is funny because it’s common to eat wine and cheese together though certain combinations are better than others, claiming that Klingon Cheese and Vulcan Wine isn’t a good combination (despite neither of those things being confirmed as actually existing in the Star Trek  universe).

Ancient Aliens

Another interesting factor about Vulcans is their long lifespan, which is approximately 200 years on average according to Memory Alpha . So the joke in the above meme is that because they live for so long they would be considered ancient compared to other alien races and humans.

The joke is also a pun on the show Ancient Aliens , which explored conspiracies about alien interference on old civilizations, with the guy in the picture named Giorgio A. Tsoukalos being one of the show’s frequent contributors.  Because of his questionable claims, he’s become a meme in of himself so it makes sense they would combine him with Star Trek .

Vulcan High Command

Since it came out, Despicable Me has been considered one of the most popular children’s movies in recent decades and so it’s naturally used for many memes. Here, we see a frame-by-frame recollection of the scene in Despicable Me where the mad scientist Gru goes over his evil plan to shrink the moon using pictures.

Only this time, the pictures are replaced with words and Gru is meant to represent the Vulcan High Command, which is the main governing authority on Vulcan. Essentially, this is making fun of the Vulcan High Command allowing Spock to join the Federation since they weren’t entirely supportive of his decision as was see in the 2009  Star Trek   movie.

What’s Left?

Because they don’t have emotional expressions, it’s assumed that Vulcans wouldn’t get jealous or be interested in pursuing romantic relationships. Thus, we get this meme showing Tuvok from Star Trek: Voyager (who was the first major Vulcan character to appear after Spock in the original Star Trek series) explaining in a hilariously logical sense why he’s not jealous due to the superior qualities he possesses.

These include intelligence, which further confirms the notion of Vulcans being intelligent in general, and good looks. Now the latter quality is particularly noteworthy because even as far back as Spock, fans of  Star Trek  have taken a liking to Vulcans as being one of the more physically attractive alien races.

Illogical Flowers

Since logic weaves its way into every facet of Vulcan culture, apart from the mystical elements, Vulcans don’t entirely understand things that are not logical and seem to serve no purpose overall.

Flowers seem illogical, which this  Star Trek  meme points out.  But it’s made funnier by using an image of Tuvok looking at pink lilies with a confused yet indifferent stare.

Lower Back Problems

Aside from pointing out the obvious, memes also make note of things that may have gone unnoticed.  For instance, this meme points out how in the original Star Trek series almost everyone on the bridge had a chair to sit in except for Spock.

While this isn’t entirely true, as there were episodes where Spock did have a chair at the science station, it’s still funny regardless. This Star Trek   meme also points out the lower back problems that Spock would realistically experience from bending over to look inside the scanner tube, which he did quite frequently in the series.

Take That Back

Because Spock was half-human, he was more prone to giving into his emotions than full-blooded Vulcans. Though this occasionally happened in the original Star Trek series, it did happen more frequently in the recent ones starting with the 2009 reboot, which the image in this meme is from.

It not only makes fun of the fact that Spock isn’t in control of his emotions despite his upbringing on Vulcan, but also that Vulcans don’t always have their emotions in control.  This is especially true during the seven-year Pon Farr cycle where male Vulcans experience intense emotions that are primitive in nature.

From The Planet Vulcan

Nothing is more cringe-worthy yet hilarious as seeing the deliberate mixing of two different franchises that have either almost nothing in common or are direct competitors with each other. In this case, we have a meme recreation of the scene from Back to the Future where Marty McFly intimidates his future father using a hazmat suit along with obvious references to  Star Wars and Star Trek .

The humor comes from the mixing of these two science-fiction franchises that are thematically different, with intensely loyal fanbases who debate over which franchise is better to this day. Also of note is the gesture Marty makes which is the ‘Live Long and Prosper’ sign that Vulcans make which was made iconic by Spock.
