The Best Way to Travel to and from Gatwick Airport

Gatwick airport  ultimate guide.

Even though it’s technically located in West Sussex, Gatwick Airport remains to be London’s second largest and busiest airport after Heathrow. Situated 29.5 miles south of central London, Gatwick Airport is one of the most efficient single-runway airports in the world, and reaches over 200 destinations in 90 different countries. And even though it only has two terminals, approximately 35 million passengers pass through Gatwick Airport each year. This is definitely one of the gateways to a dream holiday in London, its museums, free tours and pubs!

There are a number of different rail and bus transport options for anyone hoping to get to and from Gatwick Airport, and although the train tends to be the most popular option for passengers, they can certainly put a dent in your wallet if you’re not careful.

If you’re looking around for cheaper transportation options to get both to and from Gatwick Airport, here are some tips to keep in mind:

How  to get to and from Gatwick Airport by train

How long does it take?

  • 30 minutes (Gatwick Express)
  • 35 minutes (Southern Trains)
  • 30 to 50 minutes (Thameslink)
  • 30 to 35 minutes (Terravision)

How much does it cost?

  • £19.90 (single) to £34.90 (return) for Gatwick Express
  • £17.70 (single) or £31.05 (return) for Gatwick Express (when purchased online in advance)
  • £12 to £15 (single) or £24 to £30.80 for Southern Trains to Victoria
  • £8 to £14 (single) or £16 to £28 for Southern Trains to Victoria (with an Oyster card)
  • £9.40 to £10.30 (single) or £19.50 to £20.60 for Thameslink trains (to St. Pancras from Gatwick Airport)
  • £8 to £14 (single) or £16 to 28 (return) for Thameslink Trains with Oyster card (to St. Pancras from Gatwick Airport)
  • £17.75 (single) or £31.05 (return) for Terravision

Where are the pick-up points?

  • Gatwick’s South Terminal for all trains (from Gatwick)
  • London Victoria station for Gatwick Express and Terravision (from London)
  • East Croydon, London Bridge, London Blackfriars, Clapham Junction, and Victoria for Southern Trains (from London)
  • Blackfriars, City Thameslink Farringdon, and St. Pancras for Thameslink (from London)
  • Comfortable
  • Can get crowded during peak times
  • May have to stand with your luggage on a carriage for long periods of time

The Gatwick Express train is by far the most preferred method of transportation to get to and from central London and Gatwick Airport.

Non-stop trains run every 15 minutes, and take about 30 minutes (or 35 minutes on Sundays) between both pick-up points. With the first train departing at 4:35 a.m. and the last train departing at 1:35 a.m., the Gatwick Express is ideal for anyone arriving or departing during the late hours of the night, or the early hours of the morning.

The Gatwick Express only arrives and departs from the South Terminal, so if you happen to be arriving and/or departing from the North Terminal, you can follow the signs to the South Terminal, and then take the free transit shuttle which operates between both terminals 24/7 and takes about two minutes of travel time.

Southern Trains run the same route as the Gatwick Express, with four trains running every hour between Gatwick and Victoria station. The Gatwick Express trains take about 15 minutes longer as they make stops at Clapham Junction and East Croydon, so if you happen to be staying somewhere close to either of these stops, purchasing a ticket for a Southern Train would probably be a more convenient option. You can also save a ton of money on train tickets by booking them online beforehand, or by using an Oyster card.

Another option for travelling by train to and from Gatwick Airport is the Thameslink service, which is usually cheaper than both the Gatwick Express and Southern Trains. However, because Thameslink runs through the centre of London, its services are more prone to delays, and can be unreliable if you plan on travelling during the peak hours of the morning. However, Thameslink may be a better option if you happen to be staying in a hotel near St. Pancras or Bloomsbury, as it conveniently connects to both districts in London.

Terravision also runs trains to and from Gatwick Airport to the London city centre, which run roughly about every 30 minutes during the day to London Victoria station. The first train departs Gatwick Airport at 4:35 a.m. and runs about every 30 minutes until 6:50 a.m. After this, there is a Terravision train which departs every 15 minutes until 12:50 a.m.

How  to get to and from Gatwick Airport by coach

  • 1 hour and 21 minutes for National Express (from London Victoria station)
  • 1 hour and 29 minutes for National Express (from Gatwick to Victoria station)
  • Just over an hour to and from Earls Court (for easyBus)
  • From £5 (single) and from £10 (return) for National Express
  • £2 to £11 (single) or £4 to £22 (return) for easyBus
  • North and South terminals for easyBus (from Gatwick)
  • Stop 3 at Gatwick Airport South Terminal for National Express (from Gatwick)
  • Bay 8 or 9 at Victoria Coach station, Vauxhall, Stockwell, Streatham, Mitcham, Rosehill, Sutton (Centre), Sutton (Rail Station), Belmont, Banstead, Lower Kingswood for National Express (from London)
  • Earl’s Court for easyBus (from London)
  • Bus stop 6 South Terminal coach station for easyBus (from Gatwick)
  • Discounts for group bookings

  • Can be unreliable during the peak travelling hours

The majority of coach companies operate to and from the South Terminal forecourt, and a few may make a stop at the North Terminal just outside the international arrivals on the lower level as well.

National Express coaches tend to be the most popular company for travelling by coach to and from Gatwick Airport, and although it takes about three times longer than the train, it is a much cheaper option for anyone on a strict budget.

From Gatwick Airport, the National Express makes several stops between the Victoria coach station and both the South and North terminals which include Vauxhall, Stockwell, Streatham, Mitcham, Rosehill, Sutton Centre, Sutton Rail Station, Belmont, Banstead, and Lower Kingswood.

When purchasing your ticket, you can also choose the Flexible Add-On ticket (costing £5 each way) which allows you to board any available National Express coach either 12 hours before or 12 hours after your original departure time; and you also have the option of amending and/or refunding your ticket up to 24 hours before departure.

You can purchase a National Express ticket at one of the National Express desks in either the North and South Terminal. Each passenger is allowed two 20kg suitcases as well as a piece of hand luggage, and must show the driver either a printed or electronic ticket before boarding the bus.

EasyBus is another great (and cheap!) option for anyone wanting to travel between Gatwick Airport and central London, and the company certainly gives National Express a run for its money. Normally buses depart every 15 minutes to 20 minutes (during peak times), and usually run from 3 a.m. to 11 p.m. from Gatwick Airport.

EasyBus operates both to and from the North and South terminals to Earls Court, West Brompton, London Waterloo and the London Victoria coach station. The final stop is at West Brompton, however, this stop may not be convenient unless you are staying at a hotel or hostel in the Kensington area.

Earl’s Court serves as both the drop-off and pick-up locations (which are located on Lillie Road), and passengers can choose whether they want to be dropped off at the North or South terminals when travelling from central London.

With easyBus, you can use the same ticket to travel on the next available bus (up to 60 minutes either before or after) your selected booking time, so you don’t have to worry about missing your booked bus. However, if you are delayed by more than an hour, you will have to purchase another ticket.

How  to get to and from Gatwick Airport by bus

  • Anywhere from one to three hours
  • £2.10 (single)
  • Just outside the South Terminal entrance (from Gatwick)
  • Anywhere along the Fastway 10, Fastway 20, 22, Fastway 100, 200, 400, 420 and 460 routes (from London).
  • The cheapest transportation option
  • Valid for Travel Cards and Oyster Cards
  • Great for late night/early morning departures and arrivals
  • Convenient if you’re travelling somewhere other than London
  • Not convenient if you’re staying in central London
  • Takes the longest amount of time to get to and from the airport (especially during peak hours)
  • Transferring buses mid-journey (and sometimes more than once)
  • Researching the various routes and stops for your journey
  • Waiting outside at a bus stop for possibly long periods of time

Gatwick_Airport_3

There are approximately 30 buses running every hour which operate to and from Gatwick 24 hours a day; however, most connect Gatwick Airport to the various towns and cities surrounding London rather than central London itself. Nevertheless, if you happen to be staying outside of London and you’re hoping to save money on transportation costs when travelling to Gatwick Airport, then the local buses are by far the best option in terms of cost (but not necessarily convenient).

There are several Metrobus routes to choose from, and while some run every six minutes, others may only run every two hours (so make sure you do your research beforehand).

The Fastway 10 route runs every six minutes daily and serves Bewbush, Broadfield, Crawley, Manor Royal, and City Place, while the Fastway 20 runs up to every 20 minutes, and serves Broadfield, Three Bridges Station, Manor Royal, City Place. The Fastway 100 route also runs every 20 minutes, every day of the week, and serves Maidenbower, Three Bridges Station, Manor Royal, Horley, Salfords, and Redhill.

Other daily routes include the Route 200 (every 30 minutes, between Gatwick and Bewbush), and the Route 460, which operates every 60 minutes and stops at Crawley Town Centre, Manor Royal, City Place, Horley, Redhill, Reigate, Lower Kingswood, Walton-on-the-Hill, Tadworth, Preston, Tattenham Corner, Epsom

Some routes only operate during the weekdays, like Route 22 (serving Crawley, Horley, Charlwood, Leigh, Dorking and Holmbury St Mary), which runs every two hours, and Route 400 only operates on Sunday every 60 minutes (serving East Grinstead, Copthorne, Three Bridges, Crawley Town Centre, Manor Royal, City Place, Redhill, Godstone, Caterham).

There are normally bus route timetables at every stop so you can see when the next bus is arriving, and where the final stop will be. You can purchase your ticket in cash when boarding the bus from the driver, although paying by cash or credit/debit card at a Metrobus travel shop is usually cheaper.

How  to get to and from Gatwick Airport by shuttle

  • 60 to 90 minutes, depending on traffic
  • Anywhere from £34 to over £100
  • South Terminal for Gatwick Flyer (from Gatwick)
  • Wherever you want! (from London)
  • Ideal for groups, families
  • Assistance with luggage
  • May take longer during peak hours

If you’re staying at a hotel in London with a large group and/or with your family, then hiring a shuttle van to get you to and from Gatwick Airport would be the most convenient option. Although it’s expensive, if you’re travelling in a large group it can be economical if each of you divide the costs, however, if you’re travelling alone or even in a group of two or three people, hiring a shuttle van will put a huge dent in your bank account.

Nevertheless, if you want to avoid the hassle of carrying your luggage around and figuring out various timetables, hiring a van shuttle can save you a ton of stress. You can ask the driver to come meet you or a member of your group in the Arrivals Hall after you pass through customs and collect your luggage, and they can drop you off right at your hotel doorstep in London.

The Gatwick Flyer is the most common van shuttle company operating Gatwick Airport, and its fares are usually half the price of a taxi. The driver will handle your luggage for you, and even help you carry it to and from the van to your door and/or airport terminal. Hiring the Gatwick Flyer is especially convenient if you want to travel to southeast London, however, if you want to travel somewhere in central or western London, it may be a better and cheaper option to take the Gatwick Express to Victoria, and then hire a taxi from there.

How  to get to and from Gatwick Airport by taxi

  • 1 hour and 15 minutes to and from central London
  • Wherever you want!
  • May experience delays due to traffic
  • Takes longer

Unfortunately, the iconic black taxis of London do not operate at Gatwick Airport as it is too far out of the city centre; however, that doesn’t mean that there isn’t a wealth of different taxi companies to choose from; (around 600 of them to be exact).

Checker Cars are the designated “official” taxi operator for Gatwick, and other companies include Airport Cars Gatwick, Gatwick Airport Taxi, Gatwick Taxi, AirportCars, Western Cars & Taxis Gatwick, and Jewel Cars Gatwick Taxi, just to name a few.

There are taxi kiosks located outside both terminals of the airport, and you can always call and book your taxi beforehand so the driver can meet you in the Arrivals Hall after you clear customs.

Taxis usually charge by the meter, however, some minicab companies offer fixed fares to and from London.

Gatwick Airport has also recently partnered up with Uber, so passengers can get a £15 ride either to or from Gatwick to central London. However, in order to get this promo, you will need to sign up for an account with Uber for the first time.

If you are coming to Gatwick Airport, you might also want to join any of the free tours in London  that are available on offer.

Check-In and Security Procedures

Check-in and security procedures are crucial steps in the air travel process, and it’s important to familiarize yourself with the protocols at London Gatwick to ensure a smooth and efficient experience. Here’s what you need to know:

Check-In: Most airlines operating at London Gatwick offer online check-in services before your flight. It is recommended to check in online and print your boarding pass to save time at the airport. However, if you need to check bags or prefer to check in at the airport, follow the signs to your airline’s check-in desks, located in the departure areas of the North or South Terminals.

Baggage Drop-Off: If you have checked in online and have already printed your boarding pass, proceed directly to the baggage drop-off counters to deposit your checked luggage. Ensure that your bags comply with the airline’s specified weight and size limits to avoid any additional fees or delays.

Security Screening: After checking in or dropping off your luggage, you will go through security screening. Be prepared to remove your outerwear, empty your pockets, and place all personal items and electronics in the provided trays for X-ray screening. Liquids, gels, and aerosols must be in containers of 100ml or less and placed in a clear, resealable plastic bag. Familiarize yourself with the liquids restrictions to minimize any inconvenience during the security screening process.

Passport Control: Once you have cleared security screening, proceed to passport control. Have your passport and any necessary travel documents ready for inspection. Non-UK, EU, and EEA passport holders will need to present their passport and may require a visa to enter the United Kingdom. Passport control at London Gatwick is typically efficient, but there may be queues during peak travel periods.

Departure Lounge: After clearing passport control, you will enter the departure lounge. Here, you will find a range of amenities, including shops, restaurants, and seating areas, allowing you to relax and prepare for your flight. Take note of your boarding gate information, as it will be displayed on the flight information screens. Stay close to your gate and listen for any announcements or updates regarding your flight.

Be sure to arrive at the airport with sufficient time before your flight to allow for check-in and security procedures. The recommended time varies depending on your destination and airline, so check with your airline for specific guidelines. Arriving early will also give you time to explore the airport facilities, grab a bite to eat, or do some duty-free shopping before your flight.

Overall, London Gatwick has efficient check-in and security procedures in place to ensure the safety and comfort of all passengers. By familiarizing yourself with the process and allowing ample time, you can enjoy a stress-free journey through the airport and look forward to your upcoming flight.

Preparing for Your Flight

Preparing for your flight is essential to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable journey. Here are some tips to help you get ready before boarding your plane at London Gatwick:

Check Your Travel Documents: Before heading to the airport, double-check that you have all the necessary travel documents. This includes your passport, visa (if required), boarding pass, and any other identification or documentation specific to your destination. Ensure that your passport is valid for the duration of your trip.

Pack Wisely: Pack your carry-on and checked bags with the essentials you’ll need during your journey. Consider the baggage restrictions and weight limits imposed by your airline and pack accordingly. It’s a good idea to carry a change of clothes, travel-sized toiletries, and any necessary medications in your carry-on bag in case of unexpected delays or lost luggage.

Plan Your Airport Arrival Time: Give yourself enough time to arrive at the airport, especially during busy periods. Consider factors such as traffic, transportation options, and the recommended check-in time provided by your airline. Arriving with ample time reduces stress and allows you to navigate through the airport at a relaxed pace.

Comfortable Attire: Dress in comfortable clothing and footwear for your flight, especially if it’s a long journey. Layer your clothing, as temperatures can vary throughout the airport and onboard the aircraft. Avoid wearing heavy jewelry or belts that may trigger additional security checks at the airport.

Electronics and Entertainment: Bring along your personal electronic devices, such as smartphones, tablets, or e-readers, to keep yourself entertained during the flight. Make sure your devices are fully charged and consider bringing a portable charger for long-haul flights. Don’t forget to pack headphones to enjoy music, movies, or podcasts during your journey.

Stay Hydrated: Airplane cabins can be dry, so it’s important to stay hydrated during your flight. Bring an empty refillable water bottle through security and fill it up at one of the water stations in the departure lounge. You may also want to bring a small moisturizer or lip balm to keep your skin hydrated.

Stay Informed: Check the status of your flight before leaving for the airport. Airlines often provide real-time updates through their websites or mobile apps. In case of any delays or schedule changes, you’ll be aware and can plan accordingly.

Security Regulations: Familiarize yourself with the security regulations and restrictions in place at London Gatwick. This includes the liquids and gels policy, prohibited items, and any additional security measures specific to your destination. This knowledge will help you pack your bags appropriately and streamline the security process.

By preparing in advance and being aware of what to expect, you can enjoy a comfortable and stress-free experience before your flight from London Gatwick. Take the time to ensure you have everything in order, allowing you to relax and look forward to your journey.

Furious holidaymakers who left their cars at Gatwick Airport return to find their spare tyres STOLEN - leaving them thousands of pounds out of pocket

  • A spate of thefts at Britain's second busiest airport is being probed by police

Furious holidaymakers who left their cars at Gatwick Airport have returned to find their spare tyres STOLEN - leaving them thousands of pounds out of pocket.

Police say eight reports have been made of wheels being taken from vehicles left at Britain's second busiest airport in recent weeks.

Disgruntled victims claim they have have to pay hefty amounts to replace stolen items.

One said the spare wheel was taken from the back of their £60,000 4x4 - costing them £2,000 to replace.

Comments online appear to show the thefts have been going on for weeks.

Sarah Breakspear, 42, said the spare wheel from her vehicle was stolen five weeks ago - leaving her and her husband with a £400 bill.

Sarah, from Weymouth in Dorset, said: 'When we returned to our truck, as we were walking towards it we noticed the chain for the spare tyre was hanging down.

'We trusted the Gatwick valet service with the vehicle, got back late at night and just wanted to get home.

'Now we're out of pocket - it put us off from parking there in the future.'

She says Gatwick did refund the pair for the missing wheel after she complained online.

Sussex Police said: 'Sussex Police are aware of eight reports of spare wheels being taken from vehicles in car parks near London Gatwick.

'Officers are investigating and anyone with information is asked to report it to Sussex Police online, quoting serial 1294 of 09/02.'

A London Gatwick spokesperson said: 'We take the security of vehicles parked in our car parks very seriously.

'There are a number of measures in place including barrier controls, number plate recognition cameras and regular security patrols. We are supporting the police investigation into the incidents.'

NCP, which runs car parks at Gatwick, declined to comment.

Gatwick Airport warned travellers before last year's Christmas holidays to be aware of rogue meet-and-greet firms after complaints surged by 250 per cent.

Passengers have described the chaos that met them after returning from their holidays - including missing vehicles, emptied fuel tanks and rubbish strewn inside.

Oliver Bedford, the airport's director of parking, said: 'Although they often have Gatwick in their name, we have no relationship with these operators.

'Legally they can operate on the airport as long as they don't break our bylaws.'

He urged: 'Do your research. Have they got legitimate reviews on independent review sites? Have they got contact details that go beyond a mobile number? Are they listing their company information?'

He also advised customers to look for accreditation from bodies such as the British Parking Association or trading standards.

The airport has also issued a five-point checklist for travellers .

How to Get From Heathrow to Gatwick: The Complete Guide

travel iron gatwick airport

 TripSavvy / Evan Polenghi

If you're traveling to London, you'll likely pass through either Heathrow or Gatwick airport at some point during your trip. If you need to travel between the two airports (you may be using London as a jumping-off point to explore more of Europe , or you might have scored a long-haul bargain by booking split tickets via different airlines), we've put together a handy guide to make your transfer as easy as possible, including a budget option that'll set you back less than 5 pounds.

Heathrow to Gatwick: The Basics

Located 15 miles west of London, Heathrow (LHR) is one of the world's busiest international airports. All five terminals are connected to central London via the London Underground. Gatwick Airport (LGW) is around 30 miles to the south of London and is the U.K.'s second largest airport. An efficient monorail service links the two terminals (north and south), and the airport is connected to central London by train.

The airports are around 38 miles apart. There is no direct rail service that connects Heathrow and Gatwick. To travel by train, you need to go via central London.

If you're booking connecting flights that arrive at Heathrow and depart from Gatwick (or vice versa), you'll need to remember that they're the U.K.'s biggest and busiest airports. As such, you'll need to factor in sufficient time to allow for potential delays regarding security checks, check-in, customs, and baggage collection, in addition to the transfer journey time itself. Always play it safe when booking flight connections by allowing more time than you think you'll need or consider an overnight stay, especially when booking separate flights via different airlines (neither the airline nor the transfer operator is responsible for a missed connection, and you may be required to secure a new ticket if you miss a flight). Note that if you're booking connecting flights via the same airline, you're covered if you fail to make a connection and will be booked onto the next available flight.

Heathrow to Gatwick by Taxi

Black Taxi Cabs are available in taxi ranks outside all Heathrow terminals and will transport passengers to Gatwick. The journey should take around 45 minutes (depending on traffic). Note you may need to wait in line for a long time at peak times. The fare is likely to be more than 100 pounds one way. Black cabs can carry up to five passengers but don't forget to take luggage into account. When booking through Black Cab London , you can quickly request a wheelchair-accessible cab by checking the "Yes" box under "Wheelchair Access" and providing the dimensions of your wheelchair or mobility aid.

Heathrow to Gatwick by Bus

The only direct route via public transport is by bus. The National Express Coach Service takes around 75 minutes (depending on traffic) and runs up to five times an hour around the clock. Fares start at 20 pounds one way if you book tickets in advance for a specific departure time. Coaches are wheelchair accessible, and comprehensive details on all available accommodations can be found on their website . While not required, National Express Coach Service does recommend contacting them 36 hours in advance to confirm the availability of all accessible travel arrangements. You can pay extra to board any available coach up to 12 hours before or after your original departure time. The luggage allowance is two 20-kilogram suitcases and an item of hand luggage per person. Note that you'll need to factor in a 15-minute walk to the bus station from Heathrow Terminals 1 and 3. Megabus also operates between Gatwick South Terminal and Heathrow Terminal 5. Traveling between the airports takes an hour and 15 minutes, and there is free Wi-Fi, a 20-kilogram luggage allowance, and charging points. Tickets start at 15.75 pounds. While coaches are wheelchair accessible but not accessible for mobility scooter users unless you can climb a few stairs to board the coach and will be okay with having your mobility device stored with luggage below. Megabus requests travelers contact them before purchasing any tickets to confirm the availability of any necessary accommodations first.

Low-cost carrier easyJet operates a  bus service  from Heathrow and Gatwick to central London (not between the airports, though, unfortunately). The cheapest and easiest way to use this service is to take the tube from Heathrow (any terminal) to Earls Court (the journey takes around 35 minutes) and then connect to the easyBus from Earls Court to Gatwick Airport North Terminal (the journey takes about 65 minutes). The trip could set you back as little as 3.50 pounds (based on a 2 pound easyBus advance fare and a 1.50 pound off-peak Oyster fare).

Heathrow to Gatwick by Train

There's no direct train service between the airports, but you can travel via rail and tube through central London.

You can travel by Heathrow Express to Paddington (a 15-minute journey from terminals 2, 3, 4, and 5). From Paddington, you can board the Circle Line to Victoria Station (a 15-minute trip) and connect to Gatwick via the Gatwick Express (a 30-minute journey). The whole journey costs around 40 pounds one way.

Or you can travel by tube from Heathrow (all terminals) to Green Park (a 45-minute journey) and then from Green Park to Victoria (a two-minute trip). From Victoria, you can connect to Gatwick via the Gatwick Express (a 30-minute journey). The whole journey costs around 20 pounds one way. Sometimes the Gatwick Express isn't running (such as on Boxing Day), so you will have to find alternative transportation.

Both routes offer step-free access—something to consider if you have mobility issues, a lot of luggage, or are traveling with children.

Heathrow to Gatwick by Private Car Service

You could consider pre-booking a private car service to avoid waiting in line for a Black Cab at the airport. Most companies also offer a discount if you make a booking in advance. The journey should take around 45 minutes (depending on traffic) and cost about 55 pounds one way.

Heathrow and Gatwick are around 38 miles apart from each other. No direct rail service connects the two, which means that travelers must connect via central London.

A taxi takes around 45 minutes, while the National Express Coach Service takes around 75 minutes, depending on traffic.

A taxi trip from Gatwick to Heathrow is a pricy one, likely to cost more than 100 pounds depending on traffic and time of day.

Hope you had a good Easter.  We are back from our travels, resting up and getting over the bad colds we caught on our last day in Russia.  The air on Skye is so clean that we never catch colds up here.  Unfortunately we seem to catch one every time we go away and this time was no exception.

Anyway, we enjoyed our trip immensely.  Everything went well and there were no problems at all. The flights there and back were on time and the shuttle drivers were there to meet us both coming and going.  We really enjoyed staying at the Ambassador Hotel.  The staff were very helpful and made us feel very comfortable there.  There was a bottle of wine in our room when we arrived and again on my birthday.  Fantastic.  We would definitely stay there again if we go back.  The metro is a short walk away and there are loads of restaurants in the area...we developed a taste for the food from Georgia!

Thank you for setting our trip up.  We appreciate all the hard work you did on our behalf and for answering all my questions.  We are very happy with the service you provided and will certainly use you again should we go to that part of the world.  If you would like me to write a reference I would be more than happy to do so.

Best Wishes and Thank You again for a great trip. (Even the weather was good!)

Dear Julija

Dear Michael,

I am writing to thank you for organising a fabulous holiday for us.

Thanks to your efficiency everything went smoothly from start to finish. We were so pleased with The Petro Palace Hotel from the top floor restaurant to the fitness centre. The concierge was particularly helpful in obtaining excellent ballet tickets for us and giving excellent advice.

St Petersburg is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to. We certainly made good use of our time visiting The Hermitage buildings, Peterhof, Church of the Spilled Blood and St Isaac’s Cathedral to name just a few of the impressive sights. The highlight was our trip to Swan Lake on our last evening. Simply sublime.

I would not hesitate to visit the city again: I found it so clean, safe and friendly and mostly inexpensive.

Thank you so much for all your help and organisation.

Best wishes,

Hi Michael,

Adrian here. I was going to email you about the trip.

Thank you for arranging the same... my son really enjoyed it as did I. The transfers to and from the hotel were excellent as was the hotel itself.

We fully embraced both the culture and the nightlife!  My son even began to speak Russian after a few beers.

We will definitely be going back again in a few years time when he has his year out hopefully in St Petersburg.

Thank you for all your help.

Kind Regards,

More than happy to provide feedback. We had a brilliant time. Definitely one of our very best which included 2 hockey matches - both sold out with 12,000 attendances. A trip to the ballet plus the usual sightseeing . Another highlight was sitting in a cafe at 1 in the morning drinking tea with several vodka chasers!

Hi Inga,

Thanks for your message.  Our weekend was great - we loved St. Petersburg, the hotel was very nice and very central, and all the arrangements worked very smoothly.  Thank you for your help!  I will get round to sending a photo at some point.....

It was a wonderful stay and we loved St. Petersburg. The trip both ways went like clockwork.

Hotel services well-run and ideally placed for sightseeing walks. Red roses and champagne waiting in the room as requested. It was graduation day on the Friday and well worth being there. We pushed the boat out and ate at the Palkin and Percorso restaurants. Also ate at Gogol - a few yards down the road. Lovely traditional place with staff in traditional clothing and one of them playing the piano in the room where we ate. Food and wine was fabulous.  Would recommend it.

Did the tour of The Hermitage that you arranged for us. Could easily have spent several days there to do it justice. The guide, Tim, was excellent. He was with us far beyond the call of duty and several hours over the time of the tour. He took us over the Neva to see the sights, although we did not have enough time to reach the Aurora. We would be grateful if you would feed back how impressed we were with Tim and the high quality of his service to us. He mentioned he worked at the university teaching French and English,  I think.

All in all a wonderful and unforgettable experience for all the right reasons.

Thank you so much for the travel organising. It worked perfectly.

Kind regards.

Good Evening Daina. Many thanks for the follow up email. My husband & I had a wonderful trip to St.Petersburg. Our guide Vladimir was superb,& really made our trip, full of enthusiasm & the upmost professional at all times. Transport at all aspects were efficient & punctual. Ballet was very enjoyable. The hotel was a little disappointing, breakfast was what we would describe, as adequate. We asked a receptionist to make a dinner reservation for us, on our last night ( & she forgot, which was annoying) ,however the location was very good as it was so near the superb metro.   After the troublesome start of trying to acquire the visa, the rest of the vacation was hassle free. Many thanks to you, for your assistance in helping us to plan our trip. We would have no hesitation in recommending your company to anyone, who asks us… Every Best Wish & Thanks Daina. Kindest Regards, Deirdre & Diarmuid.

Just a quick email to thank you for sorting our wonderful trip to Moscow/st Petersburg

Everything went like clock work .

If you wish to know more please contact me and we will be happy to answer any questions

Many thanks

Just a quick email to thank you so much for giving my husband the best birthday ever. Everything was just perfect with your organisation.  The hotel room was fantastic looking right over St Isaac’s Cathedral,  and Champagne was in the room when returned from the Winter Palace on the day of his birthday.   Marinisky Theatre  seats were amazing and taxi both ways spot on time. The only thing was the poor driver felt so bad as his boot had frozen on the car so all the luggage had to come in the back with me when we arrived.  So not a complaint but a laugh between us showing us how cold it really was…. And what a treat we were in for.  The snow has given me some amazing photographs. We can’t believe it was over so soon, and he is already talking about going back again as we only really scratched the surface of such a beautiful city. None of this wouldn’t have been possible without all your care and attention to detail with the booking so we both thank you very much.  We look forward to travelling again with you. Kind regards Mrs Greener

Hello, I have been meaning to email you for a while to let you know what a great time we had in St Petersburg. All the arrangements you made for us – the transfers, the hotel and the ballet tickets went very smoothly. The hotel was in an excellent location, the staff very welcoming and the rooms and food of a good standard. We were lucky to have sunshine and snow, so I think we saw this beautiful city at its wintery best. Thank you. Kind regards, Jane

Hello Iveta - just a short note to say thank you for organizing my holiday - all went well and had a lovely time - Thank you and Best wishes Joy A.

Hi Daina, I wanted to follow up and say thank you so much for all your help.  Our recent trip from Stockholm to St Petersburg worked out perfectly. We made the most of four days, our tour guide was excellent, and we thoroughly enjoyed the Peterhof, the full day tour and Hermitage, Catherine palace, and more.  Since it was just the two of us and our guide, we were able to skip all the lines of tourists and were really able to get around and see everything. I sincerely appreciate all your help in arranging and making it happen. Best, Craig

Dear Iveta,

Just to say that we had the most wonderful time in St. Petersburg and we cannot thank you enough for organising such a fantastic trip.  Our guide, Julia, was brilliant and very well informed about all the places we visited.  The hotel was in a perfect location and very comfortable and friendly. We have returned with our heads full of Russian history and all the beautiful things we have seen - it really was a memorable trip. Thank you once again.

Kind regards Laura and Falconer

This is to thank you for all your help and guidance. We had a marvellous time and found St. Petersburg fascinating. Julia, our guide was charming and very well informed. The driver was also excellent. The hotel was fine too. Thank you.

Dear Daina   Thank you very much for sending the travel documents for the trip that my wife and daughter are to make to St Petersberg.  I am particularly grateful for the work that you did in securing the required visas.  The service that you provided us with was first class - thankyou very much.   David H.

Dear Daina, We had a great week end in St Petersburg. We thought the city was beautiful and the people we met were all very friendly and helpful. The arrival transfer was a bit unfortunate, but no real problem. Your colleague Julia was charming and  was very efficient at sorting out the problem. We have been very impressed with Baltic travel and especially with yourself. I would certainly use your company again in future and would have no hesitation in recommending you to friends and family. Thank you again for all your help.   With best wishes, Andrew T.

Back from WONDRFUL trip to St Petersburg Your organisation was PERFECT Cannot thank you enough!!   Malcolm F.

Hi Veronika, just to let you know that we got back safely last night from our trip to St. Petersburg. We enjoyed it enormously, we saw huge amounts, had good weather and were seriously impressed by St. Petersburg, so thank you for you help in making it happen. with best wishes Julie and Tisha

Dear Daina, we returned to England last Sunday after a wonderful 4 night break in St Petersburg, so we are emailing to say thank you for all your help and support given to us and to our Son and his Wife who made the booking in the first instance. Everything about our Break was excellent, travel, accommodation, food, people and especially the wonderful sights around the City, we didn’t waste a minute taking in as much as we possibly could, and are now getting our breath back here at home, we even had better weather in St Petersburg than they had in Gloucestershire while we were away. Should the opportunity arise to return to Russia or any other place where your Company operates we would most certainly come back to you, thank you again for your Customer care, yours most sincerely,   Chris and Sue

It was an unbelievable trip. The sights, the ballet, the helpful guides - in fact everyone everywhere - made it such an enjoyable experience. Of course, none of it would have been possible without your advice and personal attention to the planning of all this especially in getting us a room with the best view in town ....and even organising a train ticket for my husband from Moscow. Well done and thank you again.

Lady Joy G.

Transportation

Railway mostly serves domestic routes and is used as an easy and quick way to get from the capital to major cities of the country. There are some international routes, like to Moscow and St. Petersburg, but time spent on the way will be quite long. Buses are one of the most convenient ways to travel between the Baltic States. Eurolines will get you between Riga, Vilnius and Tallinn. One way tickets will cost £ 15 - £ 20 and approximate travel time is 5 hours between the cities. Ticket reservations in advance are recommended. Taxis are the quickest and most convenient way of travelling round the city. You'll find them located close to the main hotels. Usually it's quite easy to catch a taxi on the street, however, it's much better and safer to order one by phone. Taxi costs in all of the Baltic countries and Poland are approximately the same and a ride in the centre of the city will cost you approx £ 5 - £ 7.  Taxis in Finland and Russia are considerably more expensive.  It is always a good idea to get your hotel to book a taxi for you and ask approximately how much the trip will cost before you get in. We would not recommend you to take public transportation within the city, as it's usually crowded and it may cause you unnecessary anxiety about where to stop.
