We were lucky enough to have the tour bus to ourselves, and our guide, Fred, was superb. Knowledgeable and friendly, he tailored the tour for us, recommended good restaurants and even walked through Stanley Park with us and pointed out the best places to see. 4 hours, picked up at the hotel and dropped off at a great nearby restaurant.

Shaun C, London, United Kingdom

This was our second visit to Canada and the first to Vancouver. It was great! Guide Michelle was excellent. She was extremely knowledgeable and entertaining: she pointed out sights of interests along with some funny and weird facts that kept the whole story attractive. The next day we went to Whistler and added a gondola attraction sea to sky. This is worth seeing! My boyfriend enjoyed the trip as a child lol

Hollie and Robert, Austria.

We spent a day with Adam touring Victoria and Butchart Gardens. It was an incredible day, one of the highlights of our whole trip! Adam was outgoing and an outstanding story teller, so we learned a lot about the city, the peninsula and the whole province with him as he is a local guy from the northern part of British Columbia. We didn’t regret the money we spent on this private tour, because you will never get so much attention from a guide with a group of other people.

Jack and Perry, Ireland.

The Lost Souls of Gastown Tour – Best Vancouver City Tour for History

Location:  Gastown | Length: 1.5 hours | Cost:  From $37.80 CAD

Gastown is the most historic neighbourhood in Vancouver, hands down.

Its cobblestone streets and narrow alleyways hint at a feisty frontier town, not a cosmopolitan city of millions. The first building there was actually a pub built by loggers who were paid in whiskey.

Loggers, whiskey, you see where I’m going with this – this is the top of our best walking tours of Vancouver .

Throw in the Great Vancouver Fire, some smallpox outbreaks, and tales of revenge and redemption , and we’ve got the makings of a delightfully macabre Vancouver walking tour .

I like this one for groups seeking city tours as it’s arguably the most social Vancouver tour , and it offers lots of hidden gems.

The Stanley Park Bike Tour – Top Stanley Park Tour

Location: Stanley Park | Length:  3 hours | Cost:  From $103.50 CAD

Stanley Park is one of the most fabulous urban parks in the world, and it stands out because it’s not the byproduct of any fancy landscaping. It’s exactly as nature left it – with about half a million trees .

The park has the Vancouver Aquarium , is home to breathtaking First Nations totem poles , and counts some amazing panoramic city views along the Stanley Park Seawall .

This is one of the best bike tours of Vancouver , and you’ll weave through old-growth forest trails ,  learn all about local flora and fauna, and learn the Coastal First Nations history of life before the settlers came.

Wanting to leave the bike aside? Check out our top Stanley Park tours for other methods.

Vancouver City Sightseeing Tour with Stanley Park & Granville Island – Top City Tour for Tourists

Meeting Point: Georgian Court Hotel | Length:  3.5 hours | Cost:  From $78.75 CAD

Here’s a tourist tour for people wanting to check off major sights with the least amount of hassle possible .

The epic food market and artisan stronghold at Granville Island is tough to get to, so sitting back and letting them take you to the action is the highlight of this trip.

capilano suspension bridge and grouse mountain tour banner for 2024

The fact it also includes all the highlights of Stanley Park makes this a great one-two punch.

Along the way, you’ll get all the info from First Nations to contemporary culture through a knowledgeable guide – and they even take you to Gastown and Chinatown as well.

Talking Trees Tour – Best Vancouver Walking Tour

Location:  Stanley Park |  Length:  1.5 hours |  Cost:  From $75.00 CAD

This captivating interpretive walking tour in Stanley Park is an ideal way to learn about the history and culture of the First Nations peoples.

This is the real Vancouver local tour.

Accompanied by a knowledgeable cultural ambassador , the tour offers a unique firsthand perspective on how Aboriginal people have preserved and nurtured these lands, forests, and oceans for generations.

As you explore the natural beauty of Stanley Park, you’ll gain valuable insights into the rich heritage of the local First Nations , with the goal of deepening your understanding of their customs.

Vancouver Hop on Hop Off Bus Tour – Best City Tour for Cruisers

Location: Downtown | Length:  2.5 hours | Cost:  From $65.00 CAD

I always recommend Vancouver hop-on hop-off bus tours for anybody on day one of a Vancouver itinerary or for cruisers arriving at the Vancouver cruise terminal .

Since it includes all the major photo landmarks , it’ll look like you were here for weeks! 🙂

Once you’re picked up, you’ll be taken to prime downtown locations like Canada Place, Stanley Park, and Robson Street . It’ll also follow some of Vancouver’s best beaches along English Bay before dropping you off at Queen Elizabeth Park .

The tour in Vancouver finishes up in Chinatown and Gastown (with a stop at the Gastown Steam Clock).

Prince of Whales – Best Vancouver Day Tour on the Water

Location:  Granville Island | Length: 5 hours | Cost:  From $235.99 CAD

This is one of the top Vancouver nature tours, whether you’re grabbing their half-day tours or their full-on  day trips from Vancouver that’ll take you all the way to Victoria .

What I love about their half-day whale-watching tour is that it departs right from Granville Island aboard the Salish Sea Freedom – the biggest, fastest ship in the fleet that’ll have you on whale grounds in a hurry.

The chance to see orcas and humpback whales in the wild on the top Vancouver whale watching tours is true bucket list stuff.

There’s a 90%+ sighting rate, and if they don’t deliver, you’re allowed to come back another day.

Small Group Grouse Mountain & Capilano Bridge Tour – Best Nature Tour in Vancouver

Location:  Hotel Pickup | Length:  5 hours | Cost:  From $289.99 CAD

Vancouver’s crown nature jewels are on full display with this small group (14 or fewer) family-friendly tour .

With convenient hotel pickup , you’ll be shuttled through Stanley Park and over the Lion’s Gate Bridge to North Vancouver: home of the Capilano Suspension Bridge and Grouse Mountain .

You’ll get entry to both world-class attractions and around two hours to spend at each. Old-growth forest , epic views, grizzly bears , lumberjack shows, dining, patios, totem poles – it’s all here.

Evening Guided Bus Tour of Vancouver – Best Vancouver Night Tour

Location:  Downtown | Length:  90 minutes | Cost:  From $34.00 CAD

If you’re visiting Vancouver in summer and have limited time but want to squeeze in all the golden hour glory into one quick trip, this is the Vancouver tour for you.

The idea of this seasonal tour is to visit spots like Stanley Park (including Prospect Point), English Bay, and Queen Elizabeth Park under the amazing twilight rays, with much smaller crowds .

vancouver whale tour banner

The tour winds up in Gastown , which is an ideal nightcap if you’re looking to explore the best bars in Vancouver .

These tours of Vancouver BC run at 19:30 daily between May 20th and October 10th.

Epic Electric Bike Tour – Best City Tour of Vancouver on Bikes

Location:  Hornby Street | Length:  4 hours | Cost:  From $149.50 CAD

Here’s a top Vancouver tour for people who wanna cover a ton of ground that can’t be done on bus routes – or even traditional bikes, for that matter.

This small group Vancouver city tour (max 8 people) utilizes the city’s bike trails , taking you through Stanley Park and the Vancouver Seawall, + some of downtown’s top neighbourhoods.

This Vancouver city sightseeing tour is led by an entertaining and professional guide to get you up to speed on city lore.

The Grand Bike Tour – Best Sightseeing Tour of Vancouver for Exercise

Location:  Vancouver | Length:  5 hours | Cost:  From $129.00 CAD

I love this one for Vancouver visitors who just want to get after it , consuming real Vancouver culture (and calories!) over an un-rushed ride through the city’s best areas.

This is one of these all-inclusive Vancouver tours that’ll get any true traveller excited. Along the way, you’ll discover four major Vancouver can’t-miss sights , all from the seat of your bike:

  • Granville Island Public Market
  • Stanley Park

All will be explained by an entertaining, fact-packed tour guide who’ll weave you through old-growth forests, beachside promenades, and cultural hot spots .

Vancouver Instagram Tour – Top Photography of All Best Vancouver Day Tours

Location:  Downtown | Length:  1.5 hours | Cost: From $80.00 CAD

OK, so the name might be a bit deceiving for non-millennials and younger – but this is a legitimate sightseeing tour of Vancouver – with a photography focus .

The best part? It’ll load you up with iconic postcard-like photos with just your mobile phone.

This small group tour is run by a professional photographer. They’ll take you on seasonal and weather-specific tours to city landmarks like the Art Deco Marine Building, the Olympic Cauldron, the Vancouver Art Gallery balcony, Gastown, Chinatown, and more.

All the while, they’ll be giving great photography tips and telling compelling stories about the city.

Vancouver Seaplane Tour – Top Vancouver Sightseeing Tour for Couples

Location:  Downtown | Length: 20 minutes | Cost:  From $167.97 CAD

This small group tour of Vancouver is for those who want to not only get the best city view but for those looking for a true bucket list experience .

I mean, how many people have ever taken off in a seaplane? Departing right from Vancouver Harbour , you’ll be up in the air in 60 seconds with epic views of Grouse Mountain , the skyline, and the BC coast.

The splash landing (don’t get the wrong idea, there’s no danger) is a huge thrill . This is great for couples seeking city tours in Vancouver with a little adventure .

Vancouver Private Tour – Best Private Vancouver City Tour

Location: Vancouver | Length:  3 hours | Cost:  From $312.50 CAD

For those looking for private sightseeing tours in Vancouver, look no further than the private Vancouver Sightseeing Tour – which is the top price-value ratio private Vancouver tour in the city.

Here you’ll get picked up directly at your hotel and taken on a five-star tour of Vancouver’s top attractions with your own professional guide – you’ll learn the history , laugh at jokes, and discover some great secrets to take advantage of during your stay.

The best part? With these private Vancouver Canada city tours, once you’ve booked, they’ll put you in touch with your guide to make a customized Vancouver tour depending on your interests.

FlyOver Canada 4D Video Experience – Cheapest Tour in Vancouver

Location: Downtown | Length: 8 minutes | Cost:  From $30.45 CAD

Tell somebody it’s possible to fly across Canada in 8 minutes and wait for the look on their face – then tell them you did that at FlyOver Canada in downtown Vancouver.

This state-of-the-art flight simulation uses 4D technology to make you feel like you’re really taking a flight across Canada – whether you’re being sprayed with the mist of Niagara Falls or breathing in the scents of an Alberta flowerbed, this is a true 5 sense experience.

This is one of the cheapest Vancouver BC city tours, and in my opinion, since it’s indoors, it is one of the best things to do in Vancouver in winter .

Victoria Highlights Tour – Top Vancouver Tour to Escape the City

Location: Vancouver & Victoria | Length: 13 hours | Cost:  From $229.00 CAD

OK, so this isn’t a Vancouver day tour, but if you’re looking for Vancouver to Victoria tours , this is the fastest way to do it – and you’ll see a National Historic Site of Canada with over a million bedding plants while you’re at it.

Butchart Gardens is an oasis of fountains , stunning sculptures, and tranquil streams kept prime by over 50 full-time gardeners . You’ll also fit in the Empress Hotel , Canada’s oldest Chinatown, Victoria’s Inner Harbour and more.

This is one of the most romantic city tours on the list – and one of the most romantic things to do in Vancouver , period.

Adventure with Confidence

Past adventurers.

We used Discover Canada Tours for our trip to Whistler BC. The views were spectacular and our bus driver / tour guide (Joe Bitgood) was awesome…very knowledgeable on the history of BC and it’s geology. Would highly recommend this excursion and Discover Canada.

5-stars

Positive: Professionalism, Quality, Value

I took the Whistler sightseeing tour with Joe as our guide, it was really great! Joe was very friendly and helpful, informative and knowledgeable about BC and its history; he told us interesting tidbits and stories about the province and Whistler/Blackcomb. I enjoyed being able to do my own thing on the tour, Whistler was beautiful! Thanks again to Joe and Discover Canada Tours!

My family and I booked 4 tours with this company and the first one was by far the best one. Special thanks goes out to Joe Bitgood for taking care of us and ensuring comfort throughout the day while also delivering the true history of British Columbia.

The tour was great! Our tour guide Meaghan was the best. Very nice and knowledgeable. She was funny too! Highly recommended!

Rockies Classic Summer Tour

I have a great time! Ben is our tour guide, he’s such a great fun, knowledgeable, friendly person. He made sure everyone comfortable, safe, and ready to answer any questions we have during the tour. I did group tour before, I can tell Ben is one of the best.

Caribou Tour

Honestly, it was the best tour I've ever done! I was so lucky with the group I had, and the tour guide - Dayton - was so fun as well. The only downside was that it ended. 100% recommend!

Rockies Classic Summer Tour Tour

Super knowledgeable guide, efficient and safe bus driver, and friendly tour companions. Who could ask for more, except that the sightseeing was spectacular and the weather great as a backdrop for these iconic views. I would thoroughly recommend this tour to any of the people I know.

Rockies Premium Tour from Vancouver (34 Seats) Tour

Rockies Premium Tour from Vancouver (34 Seats)

This was an excellent trip and an amazing experience. The tour was incredibly well organized and our guides Will and Simon did a fantastic job throughout the week. Over the five days we got to see some truly beautiful sites throughout the Rockies and learn a lot about the stories and the history behind them. Even during the times where we were only driving, our tour guide Will provided us with many insights on the views around us. We got to learn about the mountains and lakes we passed by, as well as the ones we visited. Our accommodations were all very nice and conformable and the drives from place to place were beautiful sights on every road. Not only was our guide Will and excellent driver, he also would make sure to stop and slow down when someone spotted wildlife so everyone can see. Simon was a great co-pilot and always made sure to go through the bus to make sure everyone was comfortable during the long drives. Each hotel we stayed at was cozy and safe, with great locations. Both Will and Simon were very personable and kind men who were always interested in getting to know every person on this trip and ensuring they were having a good time. They both made it very easy to loosen up and get to know the other people around us, making new friends and having great experiences. Overall I had the best time on this trip, would definitely recommend and hope to go on another in the future.

Coho Tour

We had a fab time on the Moose tour! The tour was really well planned every day, and our guide Lee took us to all the best viewpoints and hikes off the beaten tourist tracks. The drive up the ice fields parkway, staying at the rampart creek hostel overnight with a sauna and dip in the creek, as well as spotting bears at the side of the road, was a particular highlight for me. Hostels all really good and a really fun bunch of people too. Would definitely recommend!

Via Railway Experience|5-Day Vancouver to Rockies Railway Full Experience Tour Departure

We enjoyed our tour very much, the sights were beautiful, staff we well informed. A highlight for us was the optional evening photographic tour. The only thing stopping me from giving five stars was the last day felt very rushed, especially at the Banff gondola as the queue to get on took half an hour and not enough time allocated to our lunch at the Lake Louise Chateau, we had to ask the waitress to bring out the dessert while we were eating the main as we only had 15 minutes until the bus left. Allocate a bit more time for those things and you will get five stars.

Mountains of Western Canada on Foot Tour

  • Mountain Hikes

Mountains of Western Canada on Foot

Excellent variety in choice of trails, giving a good flavour of different terrains from the Coastal Mountains to the Rockies. Hikes from easy to moderate. Lots of room in van.. only 3 of us..a bit unlucky in that smoke from forest fires reduced the visibility. Very good and conscientious guide Anna who worked hard to ensure maximum access to the natural wonders en route. Breakfasts and lunches excellent, and accommodation luxurious, in excess of expectations. Well organised tour, actually good value for money.

What people love about Canadian Rockies Tours from Vancouver

I have great time. Dusty is the best tour manager. I have very good first camping trip.
Great tour with amazing sights and wildlife; however, be aware of a lot of driving the first two days on the way to banff and on the last two days back to Vancouver. Furthermore the itinerary should be updated as there where some changes as to the description.

20 Best Things to Do in Vancouver — From Stunning Hikes to Incredible Cultural Experiences

Here are 20 of the top things to do in Vancouver.

Vancouver’s beauty is notable, with its majestic mountains, stunning skyline, and sparkling sea luring visitors from around the world. But the city is more than just good looks — it has personality too. Culture and cuisine shine here, the people are friendly, and it’s a safe and welcoming city. Whether you take a trek through the trees, meander through the metropolitan streets, cycle the seawall, or stroll through the shops, one thing’s for certain: you’re sure to get in your steps in this city. With the help of Candace Campo (ancestral name Xets’emits’a, Shíshálh Nation), artist and owner/operator of Talaysay Tours ; Rodolfo Parra, chief concierge of JW Marriott Parq Vancouver and the Douglas Autograph Collection Hotel ; and Alex Chen, executive chef, Boulevard Kitchen & Oyster Bar , we’re sharing the best things to do in Vancouver.

Take an Indigenous-led Talking Totems tour.

The best way to start a visit to Vancouver is to learn about the area’s beginnings. Located on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Coast Salish peoples of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), and səl̓ilwətaɁɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations, the city that is now known as Vancouver has a rich history that dates back thousands of years. Towering totem poles have stood erect in Stanley Park since 1920, and the Talking Totems tour offered by Talaysay Tours provides an eye-opening journey from past to present through the stories shared by an engaging Indigenous guide.

Grab goodies at the Granville Island Public Market.

Vancouver’s most celebrated chefs shop at the Granville Island Public Market , like Chef Chen, who picks up fresh sausages from Oyama Sausage Co and warm loaves of bread from Terra Breads when he wants to make a standout charcuterie on his days off. Campo loves it here too, sharing, “My dad and I ate everything here, from Chinese and Greek to Ukrainian and West Coast seafood. Then we’d explore the art studios, walk the boardwalk, and listen to live music.”

Take a tranquil stroll through the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden.

The first Chinese “scholar’s garden” to be built outside of Asia, the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden is one of the city’s most ornamental green spaces — and it’s right in the heart of clamorous Chinatown. A mirror-calm pond houses colorful carp, and twisted trees and quiet covered walkways provide a tranquil space to stroll. Make time for a free guided tour, and be sure to conclude your visit with a complimentary cup of traditional Chinese tea.

Shop the Lonsdale Quay.

“The Seabus ferry ride to the Lonsdale Quay from downtown Vancouver is a fun must-do experience on its own,” shares Parra. “Once you’re there, walk through the local artisan shops, explore the pier that overlooks a picturesque view of the Vancouver skyline, and then grab a table at Tap & Barrel Shipyards and enjoy the views.”

Admire art at the Vancouver Art Gallery.

As Western Canada’s largest public art museum, the Vancouver Art Gallery is a top attraction for art enthusiasts. Browse the works of Emily Carr, British Columbia’s beloved painter, and explore the blockbuster international shows and contemporary collections found throughout the three-story historic space.

Related: The Best Times to Visit Vancouver for Lower Prices, Beautiful Weather, and Outdoor Adventures

Take a day trip to Bowen Island.

“I highly recommend taking a day trip to Bowen Island , located in the middle of Howe Sound, just a short flight or ferry ride away. While there, experience the purest form of the West Coast. Explore the local farmers market, hike up to Dorman Point Lookout, or kayak along the shoreline and experience the stunning beauty BC has to offer,” shares Parra of his top-recommended day trip from the city.

See sea creatures at the Vancouver Aquarium.

Set in Stanley Park, the Vancouver Aquarium is Canada’s largest. Get up-close (and in some cases, hands-on) with the over 65,000 aquatic animals that are housed here, including charming sea otters and swimming sea lions (one weighing in at nearly 1,900 pounds). Not only is this a top tourist spot, but the site is also a center for marine research, ocean literacy, and climate activism.

Walk around the Capilano River Hatchery.

Built to save the declining salmon stocks in the area, the Capilano River Hatchery is a popular place for a hike. “We like to take our dogs for a walk around the hatchery,” shares Chen. “We hike around the canyon and see schools of salmon spawning there, then have a late picnic lunch by the water, with treats from nearby Thomas Haas .”

Meander through the Vancouver Mural Festival.

A self-guided walking tour of the Vancouver Mural Festival (Aug. 4-13 this year) will give you a great perspective of the city through an artistic lens. Over 300 murals and public art displays can be spotted in neighborhoods throughout Vancouver, featuring the works of both local and international artists.

Visit Olympic Village by boat.

First created as a housing hub for athletes during the 2010 Winter Olympics, Olympic Village has now become a popular spot for pub hops and patio dining. “Take the Aquabus — just steps from the Douglas — to Olympic Village where you can explore the local microbreweries such as 33 Acres Brewing and enjoy a day of brewery hopping, a big part of Vancouver culture. While you’re there, enjoy a bite to eat at Argo Café , a hidden gem located in Olympic Village,” shares Parra on how to enjoy the experience.

Browse the Bill Reid Gallery of Northwest Coast Art.

Located up the street from the Vancouver Art Gallery, the Bill Reid Gallery of Northwest Coast Art honors hailed Haida artist Bill Reid, who was known for building bridges between Indigenous and settler people through his work as an artist, broadcaster, and community activist. The space showcases some of his artwork, as well as works of art by contemporary Indigenous artists.

Entertain the family at Science World.

Vancouver’s oceanfront orb is a sight to see, but inside the geodesic dome is a multi-level space for science exploration that the kids (and parents!) are sure to enjoy. At Science World , you can get hands-on with learning galleries, watch engaging science showcases, and catch a show on the largest domed screen on the planet, the Omnimax Theatre, which puts you in the center of the action.

Eat seafood at Fisherman’s Wharf in Steveston.

Chef Chen lives in Steveston — a 30-minute drive from Vancouver — and enjoys riding his bike around the dyke towards Gary Point Park with his family. “I would ride down to the dock to check out the catch of the day. I love the side stripe prawns, and will often pick up a fresh Dungeness crab for dinner,” he shares of the city’s seafood capital. Don’t feel like cooking it yourself? The area is full of seaside seafood spots serving everything from casual fish and chips to upscale fine dining.

Dine around the world at the Richmond Night Market.

During the summer months, a visit to Richmond Night Market — the largest outdoor market of its kind in North America — is a must for foodies. There are over 110 food stalls here, serving 600+ dishes and drinks from all around the world. You’ll find Pan-Asian snacks, along with food offerings from Indonesia, Turkey, Mexico, and other parts of the world. Live entertainment and endless snacking make for a fun-filled evening here.

Snowshoe the Howe Sound Crest Trail.

Found 30 minutes by car from Vancouver, the Howe Sound Crest Trail in West Vancouver is a quiet alternative to the more popular local mountains, and it’s a preferred spot by Campo for winter snowshoeing. “While snowshoeing is something I often do for winter work, I love when I can bring friends and family on an adventure to check out the Howe Sound Crest Trail, overlooking Átl'ka7tsem (Howe Sound). Our peoples have traveled these mountains for generations and I like to think I am a part of this legacy and tradition,” shares Campo of her personal connection to the experience.

Find alpine adventures on Grouse Mountain.

See Howe Sound from a bird’s-eye view with a ride in an enclosed gondola up to the peak of Grouse Mountain . At the top, hike around weaving trails, and meet Coola and Grinder, a pair of orphaned grizzly bears who call the mountaintop habitat home. Kids can climb their way through the Kids Tree Canopy Adventure, and thrill-seekers can try the zipline.

Visit the Chinatown Storytelling Centre.

Vancouver has a rich Chinese-Canadian history, with one of the oldest Chinatowns in the country. The Chinatown Storytelling Centre is a new addition to the area and the first exhibit of its kind in Canada. Inside, you’ll find a showcase of the stories and people who have shaped the city’s past, present, and future through interactive exhibits.

SUP the Salish Sea.

Campo loves stand-up paddleboarding on the water, especially on Vancouver’s North Shore in the early hours of the morning. “I have on many occasions sat in my car and waited for daylight to launch my paddleboard and paddle from Ch’tl’am (Ambleside) to Dundarave,” she shares. Once she’s far from shore, Campo sings traditional Salish songs and watches as cormorants, loons, harbor seals, and even salmon swim past her board. “They don't see you as a threat and on occasion will swim right up to you,” she explains of one of her favorite pastimes.

Teeter across the Capilano Suspension Bridge.

Since 1883, the Capilano Suspension Bridge has been a top tourist spot. Visit to teeter across the bridge that hangs 230 feet above the forest floor and reaches a distance of 450 feet long. While you’re there, creep along the Cliffwalk, a cantilevered walkway that dangles over the canyon, and take a trek through Treetop Adventures, a series of seven smaller suspension bridges connected to treehouses and towering viewing platforms.

Play at Creekside Park.

Adjacent to Science World, Creekside Park is home to Vancouver’s largest playground (which cost nearly $1 million to build), featuring nature-inspired climbing structures, a massive tube slide, and a zippy zipline. Water and sand play areas keep little ones busy, and a rubberized surface makes the playground more accessible for people with mobility challenges. Water views of False Creek and tree-shaded sitting areas make for the perfect picnic spot.

Classic Canadian Tours Marks 18 Years of Providing Memorable and Educational Arctic Expeditions

Credits: Classic Canadian Tours

The north of Canada offers stunning landscapes and magnificent wildlife that few other locations on Earth can match. People from all over the world dream of taking a tour of this region to witness the incredible biodiversity, wonderful sights, and unique culture. However, many of these areas are quite inaccessible for visitors unfamiliar with the region.

For the past 18 years, Classic Canadian Tours has been providing Canadian vacation experiences that are short yet efficient and eventful, with destinations that are off the beaten track, providing unique and genuinely memorable experiences.

Classic Canadian Tours was founded by Bill Lamberton , a former airline industry executive. In the 1980s, he was assigned to work in several remote parts of Canada, including the village of Churchill, Manitoba, which is known as the polar bear capital of the world. In the fall, hundreds of polar bears gather there, waiting for the water of the Hudson Bay to freeze, allowing them to hunt seals again after the lean summer months. Having witnessed the emerging era of eco-tourism there and in other areas of Canada, Lamberton aimed to have his own business in this industry someday.

In 2006, Classic Canadian Tours opened its doors and began offering its signature one-day polar bear safari, typically held in late October and early November. This tour is the company’s most popular product, with direct chartered flights from Calgary, Edmonton, and Saskatoon to Churchill. The tourists then ride a specially designed Tundra Buggy that allows them to observe the polar bears safely, while accompanied by expert naturalist guides. After around six hours in the tundra, the buggy returns to town, and the tourists fly back in the evening.

Classic Canadian also offers a one-day West Coast grizzly bear tour, held during May and June. From Calgary or Edmonton, the tour group will take a chartered flight to Prince Rupert, British Columbia. There, they will board a catamaran and cruise through the Chatham Sound to the Khutzeymateen Grizzly Bear Sanctuary, an area accessible only via air or water. Aside from observing grizzly and black bears in the sanctuary, tourists also have the chance to see orcas or humpbacks and other marine wildlife such as sea lions, seals, porpoises, and numerous other wild animals in their natural habitats, while an expert guide is available to provide additional knowledge. For bird lovers, the variety of species is special.

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served for both polar and grizzly bear tours.

Aside from wildlife-focused tours, Classic Canadian also runs guided tours to see the breathtaking Northern Lights. Held in March and September, guests can view this spectacular astronomical phenomenon from a cozy cabin with a fireplace to keep them warm. From Calgary, Edmonton, or Vancouver, tourists fly chartered to Whitehorse, Yukon to spend two evenings of Northern Lights viewing. The package also includes a hotel stay for two nights, a city tour, and a tour of the Yukon Wildlife Preserve.

Over the years, satisfied customers have praised Classic Canadian Tours for their exceptional guest experience on a once-in-a-lifetime trip that checks a major item on their bucket list. The tours are popular among couples and families, with guests of all ages welcome.

“Even as we enter our 19th season of providing unforgettable tours across Northern Canada, I am still astonished by the beauty the region holds – it’s something I can never get tired of,” Lamberton says. “The Classic Canadian Tours team is constantly finding ways to provide even better service to our guests, working diligently to develop incredible tours that show off Canada’s geography, culture, and wildlife. We hope that you will join us for a truly Canadian experience that is efficient and comfortable.”
