Camburg Chevy/GMC 1500 2wd/4wd 07-18 Performance Long Travel Kit

$ 3,695.00 – $ 7,701.99

Description

  • What's Included
  • Vehicle Applications

Our performance long-travel kit for the 2007-2018 Chevy/GMC 1500’s is finally available. We spent a considerable amount of time dialing this kit in and getting the FOX shocks fine tuned for everyday driving and aggressive off-road use. This kit fits both 2wd and 4wd models and has multiple shock options to fit your budget and needs. The kit is designed around using bolt-in OEM style coilovers so if you already have some, no need to purchase new shocks. Since we’re widening the track trackwidth 2.5″ per side, you will need fiberglass front fenders for the added tire clearance and coverage.

Looking to run bypass shocks with this kit? We have a pre-fabbed weld-on mount that is setup for a 2.5-3.0 bypass shock that is a custom tube layout to maximize performance and fitment.

Note: most factory wheels will not clear the upper arm and will require a wheel spacer. We highly recommend aftermarket wheels with a zero offset with all our Chevy kits for optimum performance and fit.

  • Boxed lower arms
  • Tubular heim upper arms
  • Stainless/Kevlar extended front brake lines (#CAM-230006)
  • Stainless CNC machined tie rod extensions (#CAM-960264)
  • Stainless heim & uniball spacers
  • Grade 8 hardware
  • 4wd 4340 heat-treated axle shafts (optional) (#CAM-210050)
  • Fox or King coilers (optional)

You must identify your original OEM factory suspension type. Customer is responsible to order correctly, if not delays and added shipping costs will incure.

  • 2007-2016 Cast Steel (black) (magnetic) (rough surface finish) = small upper and lower ball-joint tapers
  • 2014-2016 Cast Aluminum (silver) (non-magnetic) (rough surface finish) = large upper and lower ball-joint tapers
  • 2016-2018 Stamped Welded Steel (black) (magnetic) (smooth surface finish) = large upper and lower ball-joint taper

This kit requires front fiberglass fenders

  • Must remove factory droop stop from frame mount

2wd Sonoma Lift

  • Add to quote

Hey guys, first post. Love the site. Been reading through the FAQ's and sticky's about lifts and I'm a little lost. First off, I just moved from a wrangler to a 2001 GMC sonoma 5 speed standard cab 2wd to tow my motorcycles with. Now, I know all about solid axel lifting thanks to the jeeps. So the rear end I'm okay with. The front... not to much. Here's what I'm looking to acheive: Right now, the stock sonoma looks like a chump. I was lifted 5in with 32's on the jeep and that was too much. I'm looking to get 30's on the sonoma. Basically, the same ride height as a stock tacoma or dakota with an offroad package. Of course, I'm on the cheap. I was planning 1n BL and a very basic 1 or 2in lift just to stiff the springs a tad and raise her up. What is needed for the front end? I hear keys and torsion bars and all this crap... give me adjustable control arms, damn it! I'd like to retain as much stock ride comfort and parts as possible. My dirt bike is for the trail, not my sonoma. Any advise? At what lift does the rear driveshaft/pinion become an issue? How about front ball joints... I hear those are weak. Sorry for all the questions. If you know any good links with the requested information, please send them my way! Thanks! -Lou

bowtiemans-10

I have been doing a lot of research on lifting my daily 2wd s-10... I know my lowering of trucks and bag'n them...so i am no expert of lifting... but it sounds like a simple 3" lift spindle would suit your needs to put 30s on while keeping the ride good...but what do I know i am still rolling stock on my daily haha:uhoh: Just a thought here is a link..I am sure u have seen these spindles........ALso Aim makes a good price spindle so i have herd thats good! : http://www.rockymountainsusp.com/GM_S10_2wd.htm ,

98-LS-lifted

the 2 in body lift would be the cheapest way to go if you want 30's. you could go up to 5in maybe more, not sure, without the drive shaft coming out. i only know about the 5in because thats what i have. with spindles you will have to extend your brake lines, with coils you will put a lot of stress on ball joints , i go through mine about every 3-4 months. With the 2wd you just have coils and spindles for your lift in front.

go with a set of fabtech spindles for the front and some 1.5 shackles in the back. you will be very happy with it. with a 2wd you dont want to lift it to much unless you go with a long arm kit. check out dezertdimes.com for all kinds of stuff on that.

The add-a-leaf in the rear adds 1in or 2in? If only 1, I'd do 2in shackles to get the extra 1in lift. Are brake lines a problem? Front: What the hell are spindles? Sorry guys, I'm a solid front axel kind of guy. This IFS stuff is all new to me. Anyone have a link explaining the front lift... like what I'm replacing? If I put in a 2in lift "spindle" do I still need bigger coils? -Lou

Alright I get it a little better now. The lift spindle just moves all the steering components on the axel. I still dont see why a larger coil isn't necessary to lift the front end? I also saw that 2nd gen s-10's (and sonomas I am imagining) cant do 3in body lifts. Bummer. Thanks for the post. If anyone has pictures of their 2wd with small amounts of lift, please post. Or at least decribe the setup you have. Thanks a bunch! -Lou

Could you explain why you regret going that big? I was actually thinking about getting upper control arms and coils to bounce it up even higher. Thanks man...NICE RIDE

Ah I get it. Thanks. I'll keep looking around for 2in lift spindles and pics of it. -Lou

I regret it because my truck rides like ass now. when i first got it, it only had the spindles and rode like 10,000 times better. now i am looking for a long arm kit or full long travel kit to replace it. if your going to do it do it right the first time. with these trucks the way they are they dont like the upper arm kits. for the money i would go with the chassis tech long arm kit and a fabtech 3.5 spindle. but that is just what i should have done in the first place. if you read red baron's post you will understand this better. o and thanks i love the way my truck looks i just hate the way it rides.

  •  The  Upper StrongArm tubular control arms feature tall ball joints to provide increased camber gain and the ball joint location has been moved back to allow for additional caster setting to improve high speed stability and steering feel. Offset slugs are also available for additional caster. Injection molded Delrin bushings with 13% Teflon are used to reduce deflection and stiction.
  • The  Lower StrongArm tubular control arms feature a double sheer lower mount for increased strength. We have also dropped the lower shock mount to increase suspension travel and moved the lower ball joint forward to increase caster settings while keeping the wheel centered in the wheel opening. Injection molded Delrin bushings with 13% Teflon are used to reduce deflection and stiction.
  • This  TruTurn steering linkage optimizes bump steer, under .065″ though 5″ of suspension travel. Includes outer tie rod studs, out tie rod heim joints, tie rod adjusters and inner tie rods.
  • HQ Series Coil-overs utilize an impact forged aluminum body and Monotube design to deliver excellent ride quality and handling. They allow fine tuning of the ride quality and handling the rebound knob is located at the top of the shock for under hood access. They come standard with a 1,000,0001 Mile Warranty.  Interested in Auto Cross or Road Course Racing?  Consider the TQ Series Coil-overs .

  • The  Rear Wishbone Suspension System greatly improves traction, handling and ride quality. Installation does not require the any modifications to the bed floor and the installation is completely Bolt-on. It is designed for use w/ the stock 7.5″ rear end (A bracket for the 8.5″ rear end is available upon request). The R-Joint rod ends combine the best qualities of low friction movement, lateral stability, full range articulation, and quiet operation into one special bearing that is as home on the street as it is on the racetrack!
  •   TQ Series Shocks – The remote reservoir triple adjustable coil-over shocks feature rebound adjustment along with dual stage (High Speed & Low Speed) compression adjustment. High speed adjustment allows tuning for impact harshness and low speed adjustment allows tuning of cornering characteristics, perfect for use on the autocross, road course and drag strip.  Read More

Hey guys I had a spare set of the exact same coilovers that i was going to through on my 04 4wd silverado. I work next door to a machine shop and the guy owes me so I want to fab up my own upper and lower control arms I'm just curious if anyone has any old sets or broken ones I can use for measurements/ dimensions for the CNC . I decided it's time to get it going to match my mid travel s10. Thanks

you this thing on dezertrangers.

Sorry no photos tonight. But did finish all the welding. Got it strapped so my cv's are at 21* drooped. You can argue with me all you want if you think that's too much haha but I'll have feedback on it in a month or so. Also still haven't got travel numbers. Maybe this weekend...possibly sooner. I will add too, where it's strapped I only have about 6.5" of shock travel so I'm not expecting more than 13" of total travel.

Buckshot

Can't wait to see it finished. Are you throwing bypasses up front also? What's the set-up planned for the rear?

Long Travel Kit

Long Travel Kit

 Description

The Dirt King long travel kit was developed to drastically improve the vehicles off-road handling without compromising its day to day driving characteristics. This suspension system allows for 13” of travel and accepts up to 37” tires. The kit is compatible with 2WD models and 4WD models along with the purchase of extended axle shafts. Our upper and lower arms are designed with heavy duty Moog ball joints   which are low maintenance and easily serviceable . The lower arms are tabbed to accommodate for coilovers, bypasses, bump stops, and limit straps. They also utilize the factory inner bushings for a factory like feel on road while still allowing for enough articulation off-road. Another unique feature only found on our kit is progressive steering stops to limit the steering angle throughout the suspension cycle. This prevents premature wear on the CVs and tie rods at full compression or full extension. This kit is CAD designed, thoroughly tested, and made in America resulting in a product we’re proud to put our name on!

  • Regular Cab

Edmunds' Expert Review

  • Sporty styling, fuel-efficient base engine, powerful optional V6.
  • Cheesy interior plastics, low seating positions, spotty build quality.

An all-new model has been added to the Sonoma lineup for 2001, a four-door Crew Cab, complete with Vortec 4300 V6, automatic transmission, InstaTrac four-wheel-drive system and SLS trim. Powertrain improvements incorporate an advanced control module for the V6 and flex-fuel capability for the four-cylinder. There are also new aluminum wheels with the sport suspension, and programmable automatic power door locks.

Edmunds says

We know the value of an old trusty pickup, but in the Sonoma's case, it's just plain old. A redesign is on the way in a couple years, but if you need a compact truck now, better check out the competition first.

Cost to Drive Cost to drive estimates for the 2001 GMC Sonoma 2dr Regular Cab SL 2WD SB (2.2L 4cyl 5M) and comparison vehicles are based on 15,000 miles per year (with a mix of 55% city and 45% highway driving) and energy estimates of $3.22 per gallon for regular unleaded in North Dakota.

Vehicle overview.

With an aggressive look, available sport suspension, third-door extended cab, snazzy Sportside bed and a strong 4.3-liter V6 under the hood, GMC's Sonoma has been positioned as a more versatile alternative to the traditional sporty coupe. But with the addition of a true, four-door Crew Cab model this year, Sonomas can be configured to suit just about any driving requirement, from people or utility hauler to off-road bruiser. You can choose from three wheelbases, four cabs (regular, two- or three-door extended, and now four-door crew), a short box or long box in Wideside or Sportside versions and two- or four-wheel drive. Then, you still have to consider three trim levels (SL, SLS and SLE), two engines (a four-cylinder or V6), a manual or automatic transmission, and no less than five different suspensions (three for 2WD and two for 4WD models). Whew!

Four-wheel-drive models, which have four-wheel disc brakes and GM's electronic InstaTrac transfer case standard, are motivated by a 190-horsepower Vortec 4300 V6 (with 250 foot-pounds of torque). Opt for the 4.3 in a 2WD Sonoma, and it'll deliver 180 horses. The base powertrain is a 120-horse, 2.2-liter four-cylinder mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. A four-speed automatic is optional on all but the new Crew Cab, where it's standard. Two-wheel-drive buyers can choose from an all-purpose "smooth-ride" suspension, a firmer "heavy-duty" setup, or a handling-oriented ZQ8 "sport" version. With a "high-payload" suspension standard on 4WD trucks, you'll want to order the High-Rider package if serious off-roading is part of your driving mix. Tagged the ZR2 option, High-Riders boast a bigger, reinforced frame, beefy shocks and three-ply all-terrain tires.

Inside, Sonomas and Chevrolet S-Series pickups are virtually identical, with a roomy cab and modern dash layout. Center stack controls are canted toward the driver for improved access. Unfortunately, the cloth trim and carpeting feel thin, and plastic used for dash panels and switchgear still looks as though it was sourced from a toy company. On extended-cab trucks, an optional left-side access door makes loading/unloading a breeze, but choosing the three-door cab eliminates one of the rear fold-out jump seats.

Outfit a Sonoma with the 180-horse V6 and five-speed stick and add the ZQ8 sport suspension, and this little truck performs as energetically as some sports cars did a decade ago. The curvy Sportside box and sharp, new five-spoke alloys nicely complement the package, turning the Sonoma into a true factory sport truck. Sure, competitors from Ford and Toyota come across as more refined than Sonoma, and the one from Dodge feels large enough to be in a class by itself. But if you're looking for a sporty hauler or just a compact that can carry the whole crew, Sonoma's the hot ticket.

Wondering which trim is right for you?

Our 2002 GMC Sonoma trim comparison will help you decide.

2002 GMC Sonoma review: Our expert's take

Vehicle Overview A third door is now standard on all extended-cab versions of GMC’s compact Sonoma pickup truck, which is the corporate kin to the Chevrolet S-10. All Sonomas for 2002 have air conditioning and a tachometer, and chrome grille trim has been added to the SLS trim package. The SLE trim level has been eliminated. The two-wheel-drive, regular-cab, long-bed truck has also been dropped, so all regular- and extended-cab Sonomas now have a 6-foot bed.

Sonomas sold in selected northern states now include a Cold Climate option group. New options include a bed extender for all models and a hard, lockable tonneau cover for Crew Cabs, which can also be fitted with Graphite leather-trimmed interior.

GMC added the Crew Cab body style for 2001 to match Chevrolet’s comparable S-10. Crew Cab models, which have four conventional doors that open to the front, have four-wheel drive and a 4.3-liter V-6 engine, but other Sonomas may be equipped with a four-cylinder engine. Sonomas come with either rear-drive or 4WD, and a manual shift or a four-speed-automatic transmission.

Archrival Ford’s compact Ranger, in extended-cab form, comes only with two narrow back doors that open toward the rear. Four-door Crew Cab body styles are available on the Dodge Dakota, Nissan Frontier and Toyota Tacoma.

Exterior Sonomas come in three sizes. The regular-cab model is 190.6 inches long on a 108.3-inch wheelbase, while extended-cab pickups ride a 122.9-inch wheelbase and measure 205.3 inches long overall. Crew Cab models have the same overall length as the extended-cab versions, but because more space is devoted to the rear doors, the Crew Cab’s cargo bed shrinks to 4.5 feet from the usual 6-foot length. Extended-cab trucks can be equipped with an optional third door, and 4WD extended cabs can have the ZR2 High Rider Package, which includes a “ZR2” decal.

Payloads range from 1,111 pounds for the Crew Cab, which comes only with V-6 power and 4WD, to 1,389 pounds for a 4WD extended-cab model. Sonomas can haul trailers that weigh as much as 6,000 pounds, depending on the model.

Interior Regular-cab and extended-cab models may have either a front bench seat that holds three people or a pair of bucket seats. Two folding rear jump seats are standard in extended-cab models, but the one on the driver’s side is eliminated if an optional third door is installed. Sonoma Crew Cab pickups are equipped with the front buckets and a three-place rear bench. A stereo radio with speed-sensitive volume and an in-dash six-CD changer is optional in all models.

Under the Hood A 120-horsepower, 2.2-liter four-cylinder engine is standard on 2WD models. A 4.3-liter V-6 power plant is standard on 4WD trucks and optional on 2WD versions. The V-6 engine produces 180 hp in the 2WD installation and 190 hp with 4WD.

A five-speed-manual transmission is standard, and a four-speed automatic is optional. However, the Crew Cab model comes with the automatic only. All 4×4 pickups use General Motors’ Insta-Trac system, which is engaged using a switch on the dashboard; an electronic transfer case permits shifting in or out of 4WD High on the move. Four-wheel antilock brakes are standard.

Powerful for the price.

Extended cab has 3 doors and 4 seats. Both front seats are extremely comfortable and easy to sit in for a long ride. V6 has enough power to do burnouts on demand, sadly the steering wheel sits a little high and is not adjustable.
