Western Flare
If Yellowstone has as much of a grasp on you as it does on us, this mani just makes sense. And it’s not that hard to DIY! All you need is a dotting tool and a steady hand to create the cow-print design.
Rainbow Angles
For a different take on a rainbow French manicure, we’re loving this diagonal double line take on the trend.
Bejeweled Nails
Taylor Swift isn’t the only one who gets to be bejeweled– these super-easy-to-apply press-on nails dial up any look instantly.
Mermaid Chrome
Thanks to the Little Mermaid movie , the mermaidcore trend is going strong, plus chrome hasn’t gone anywhere since glazed donut nails hit the scene. This teal and purple metallic combo is the best of both worlds.

Heart Nails
These heart beam nails—inspired by the Powerpuff Girls and Gen Z’s fave phone case —have been popping up everywhere. In bold red and pink, they feel particularly summer-ready.
Cartoon Clouds
Cloud nails may have been trending this winter , but they give us total summer vibes. Unlike the more stylized clouds that were popping off, these cartoony clouds are totally DIY-able. All you need is a good art brush and the perfect opaque white (try Orly French Tips ).
American Manicure
For Nicola Peltz’s wedding to Brooklyn Beckham, manicurist Tom Bachik decked Peltz’s nails with a ’90s-inspired American manicure—think of it as a French manicure, but with less definition where the tips start and end. We’re expecting to see the softer style everywhere this summer.
Bright Stars
A cluster of neon stars will make you feel beach-ready in seconds. If the thought of free-handing stars with a nail brush stresses you out, just glue a sprinkling of star sequins by your cuticles for the same effect.
Mixed Checkerboards
ICYMI, checkered nails are a major front-runner as the coolest summer nail designs this year. We’re particularly into this mix-and-match set.
Butterflies
These dainty butterflies will remind you of sunny days ahead. (If you can’t DIY them, try these stickers instead.)
’70s Swirls
Graphic yet simple nail art will be your best friend this summer. Give it a retro vibe with earthy, mustard-toned neutrals like Paintbox’s Like Lush + Like Flora Power Couple .
Rainbow French
Put a cute twist on a classic French mani with tiny rainbow tips, complete with cloud details.
Smiley Nails
If you’re in the market for cute summer nails, look no further than these rainbow happy faces. They’re a fun twist on the classic yellow smiley-face nails that have been spotted on Harry Styles and Dua Lipa.
Monotone Matte
Love mismatched nails but want something a little more sophisticated? Go for different shades of the same color and add a matte topcoat for a luxe velvet feel.
Sunny Swiggles
For some easy art, pick your favorite nail polish color and artfully swirl it over a white base. Doing a different shade on each hand only ups the coolness.
Slime Green
Our Nickelodeon days might be over, but our love for slime lives on with these bright summer nails. Copy nail artist Betina Goldstein, and use two coats of Essie Nail Polish in Blanc and one coat of Stencil Me In to really make the green pop. Or, head to your salon and get gel nails for that super-shiny effect.
Shimmering Swirls
Negative space and holographic polish are a truly magical combination.
Mismatched Hands
Want something fun but can’t wield an art brush? Try one vivid color on your right hand and a different color on your left. The hearts are cute too, but not necessary to make this look.
Rainbow Mani
A gradient of summer nail colors is never a bad idea.
Color Melt
Feels so hot you could melt? Take that vibe to your mani with melting, swirly tips.
Sweet Cherries
These sweet little cherries look way more complicated than they actually are; just follow nail artist Natalie Pavloski’s lead for the ultimate DIY nails.
Tiny Butterflies
How cute are these itty-bitty butterflies? Pastels with a pop of bright pink transition perfectly from spring into true summer.
All That Glitters
The easiest high-impact, low-effort manicure? A full-on glitter ( Paintbox makes some of our favorites).
The best part of this bright French manicure? It’s actually press-ons .
Starburst Mani
This eye-catching nail design is so cute and nostalgic.
Strawberry Nails
Have you seen anything sweeter? Try Essie in Rock the Runway and Watermelon for the berries and Off Tropic for the leaves.
Negative-Space Hearts
Negative-space hearts in sunny yellow are one of the best summer nail ideas we can think of. For this look, nail artist Kim Truong used OPI’s nail color in I Just Can’t Cope-acabana .
The New French
It’s back, baby . While there are tons of cool variations on French manis now— rainbow , glitter , negative space—we’re a sucker for the classic early-aughts throwback. Almond tips look so pretty on both natural and acrylic nails.
Mixed Mani
Here’s another great option for the indecisive! Try a different summer nail design, like flowers and bright checks, on each nail for an unforgettable mani.
Checkerboard Tips
Channel your favorite Lisa Says Gah top with these groovy checkered tips.
Sticker-Book Nails
Remember your favorite sticker book in elementary school? Treat your nails the same way for the cutest throwback mani around. While you can easily DIY with a smattering of stickers, you can buy this set of sparkly press-ons from Color Camp .
Dainty Florals
You don’t need to have a green thumb to appreciate these tiny daisies. Use a toothpick or the end of a bobby pin for perfectly symmetrical dots. Easy.
Iridescent Ombré
Make an opalescent polish even more magical by graduating the intensity. Nail artist Betina Goldstein used the discontinued Essie in Tiers of Joy to get the look above. Try Essie You Do Blue for a similar effect.
Emoji Hearts
Take your favorite emoji from your screen to your nails with some simple sequins. Amazon is full of specialty shapes .
Daisy French
Cartoony daisies add a fun touch to black French tips, and are easy enough to DIY with the end of a bobby pin.
Drop of Gold
Spice up your go-to bright with a subtle gold stud.
Mismatched Moons
Ease your way into a full rainbow by stacking colors just at the base of your nails.
Double French
These stacked French tips have twice the impact. To get a similar look, apply a base of Orly Morning Mantra , then layer a thin stripe of Orly Love My Nails on top.
Hint of Neon
Afraid of full-on neon? This subtle neon stripe is the perfect way to ease into the trend.
Confetti Nails
For a party on your nails, accent your middle three fingers with bright dots. Try Olive & June Nail Polish in Grateful & Kind for your base, and Jin Soon Daisy for confetti made easy.
Floating Hearts
Crisp black-and-white and negative space keeps tiny hearts from being too sweet.
Orange Dream
This bright orange shade on Addison Rae makes for the perfect nails for summer. Since the shade is so vibrant (try Essie Expressie in Bearer of Rad News ), you don’t even need to add art.
Summer Flowers
April showers bring May flowers, and you can bring those flowers into summer with a bright color palette like this one.
Bright Blooms
Sunny yellow puts a summery twist on classic florals.
Neon Splashes
A drizzle of neon polish across bare nails is a cool take on the brights trend.
Up the contrast of a classic French with bright blue tips and an off-white base. Shorter nails make the whole thing look even cooler.
Cute Stickers
Spice up your mani with cute stickers like these lemonade ones. We love Olive & June and Deco Miami for the coolest stickers.
Cotton Candy Clouds
Like a dreamy summer sunset, this set incorporates pastel colors and fluffy clouds in the perfect way.
Celestial Skies
These star stickers on top of sparkly blue ombré are for the zodiac lovers out there.
Groovy Barbie
A hot pink mani is fun, but it’s made even better with some ’70s swirl accent nails.
Lovely Lemons
Fruits are a total vibe this summer, and buttercup yellow happens to be trending too—so lemons it is!
Make any color mani look way cooler by getting an airbrush aura design.
Whether your summer plans take you to the Greek islands or not, evil eyes make for fun nail art.

Frequently Asked Questions
What’s the best polish for vacation nails.
Generally, gel polish is the most ideal choice since they last longer than other nail products, giving you worry-free vacation nails.
The Beetles 20 Gel Nail Polish Kit is a good option for this. The kit has several fun colors for you to choose from.
How Can I Make Sure My Vacay Mani Lasts?
If you aren’t going for a gel or acrylic manicure , you’re generally looking at a manicure that lasts roughly five to seven days, depending on your nail polish. Here are tips on how to make your mani last longer:
- Swab your nails with alcohol before your manicure. This removes oil build-up that can create a barrier between your choice of polish and the surface of your nails.
- File nails to keep them neat. Whether your nails are short or long, keeping your nails filed neatly prevents breaking and chipping.
- Use a base coat. This helps your polish adhere to your nails longer. A good base coat you can use is the OPI Natural Nail Base Coat .
- Dry your nail polish with cool air. If you’re using your hair dryer, use the cool setting, as cool air helps nail polish firm up faster. As they dry, you can also dip them quickly in ice water.
- Reapply clear top coat. You can apply a top coat to your nails every two to three days to maintain shine and prevent chipping. One of our favorite top coat products is the Sally Hansen Dries Instantly Top Coat , which is formulated for ultimate color protection.
- Keep hands and nails moisturized. Avoid alcohol that can dry your nails. You can also apply nail/cuticle oil to keep your nails hydrated.

Cute and Simple Summer Dots
Cute and simple summer dots across the middle of your nails can be an awesome way to experiment with art. Without overwhelming your style, combine primary colors with complementary pastels for a cohesive and sexy look that’s bound to turn heads.
Bright Red, Orange and Pink Summer Design
A bright red, orange and pink summer design looks particularly striking on tanned skin, bringing instant warmth to any outfit. Wavy lines are a creative way to incorporate each color evenly, but dots, florals and hearts are playful alternatives.
Zebra Print with Summer Colors
If you want to experiment with classic patterns and popping shades, a zebra print manicure with summer colors is a slam dunk. Yellows and pinks are incredible choices if you want to create a strong contrast with the monochrome zebra artwork. Keep the zebra print as a French tip or split your style down the middle for a symmetrical design.
Creative French Tips with Fun Polish Colors
Pairing creative French tips with fun colors is an ideal option for women who want to brighten up an old-school manicure. The French tips keep things feminine and sophisticated, while dots, petals, hearts and lightning bolts add a subtle dose of color and character.
Chic Summery Floral Nail Art
Chic summery floral nail art can be a gorgeous choice that will make a fashionable statement. While an investment, getting intricate nail art featuring delicate blooms, swirled French tips and colored blocks will take your manicure to the next level.
Summer Rainbow Manicure
A summer rainbow manicure is a cute style that will keep you looking youthful and feeling playful. Shapely swirls are an easy way to work in brights and pastels like lilac, mint and baby pink. For a more detailed manicure, play around with fruity art like watermelons and strawberries for a fun twist.
Long Square Nails with Blue and Green Ocean Vibes
Women with long acrylics can take advantage of extra real estate by getting a blue and green ocean vibes design. Long square nails are the perfect canvas for detailed designs like swirled or asymmetrical tips as they allow your tech to work on an even surface.
Neon Rainbow Design
A neon rainbow design is an easy way to embrace the sunshine and cause serious envy. For a unique approach, feature simple shapes and a nude base to create breathtaking contrast. Corals and bright oranges always look gorgeous in neon tones, but everything from greens and blues to shocking purples can be flattering choices for a trendy manicure.
Creative Pink and Orange Nail Design
A creative pink and orange nail design is an opportunity to bring your personality to the table with fun art and bright polish. Dots, smiley faces, half-and-half styles and even beach silhouette artwork can last for weeks with a hard-wearing gel.
Simple Colorful Summer Almond Nails
Simple and colorful summer almond nails are an unbeatable look for practical women who enjoy shorter styles. Swirls and sections of filled color can create a striking contrast. If you want an elegant finish, vertical artwork promises to elongate the fingers.
Gorgeous Orange and Pink Summer Vibes
When it comes to turning heads on beach days, long acrylics with bold orange and pink polish are the way to go. Chevron patterns are chic and stylish in a French tip style, but alternating block color nails are considered classic for a reason.
Light Pink and Hot Red Floral Summer Nails
Light pink and hot red floral summer nails are a low-maintenance choice for women who want to take a shorter approach. The simple and sweet flowers take center stage thanks to the almost-nude background shade. With a few red block accents, you’ll have a summer sensation on your hands (literally!).
Funky Light and Dark Summer Nails
Funky light and dark summer nails are a great way to add pattern and visual interest to an otherwise simple manicure. Pair pastel shades with darker swirls of each color for a refreshing and fashionable set of nails that you’ll adore looking at.
Beautiful Pastel Nail Art
Beautiful pastel nail art helps you effortlessly transition from the spring to summer months with a cute and feminine mani. A rainbow design with subtle drips looks just like ice cream, but pastel florals, hearts or swirls can look beautiful with a swipe of glitter polish.
Nude Nails with Colorful Swirls
Nude nails with colorful swirls allow you to combine various colors to add depth and texture to a basic set. Pastel yellows, reds, blues and pinks are always gorgeous, but feel free to experiment with gold and silver glitter for a hint of sparkle.
Natural Green Polish with Animal Print Nails
Natural green polish is a timeless choice for any season and adding sections of animal print to this earthy color is bound to pop. Whether you choose Dalmatian print tips, a split-nail design with leopard spots or a cool zebra style, you’ll hate soaking off this design.
Gorgeous Daisy Nail Designs
Gorgeous daisy nail designs always scream summer with their vibrant white polish and charming pastel shades. Getting French tips and overlaying a few blooms is a simple and feminine option. If you want to dial up the drama, bright dots, green leaves or shimmering gold glitter can instantly lift your set.
Modern Summer French Manicure
A modern summer French manicure with neutral tones and swirls of white should be any high-flying woman’s go-to design. Subtle white lines add texture and shape to beautiful almond nails, while the nude base keeps the finish sleek and shiny.
Beautiful Pink Swirls
Beautiful pink swirls are a cool and flattering way to bring the beauty of a vibrant fruit salad to your fingertips. Pairing pink and orange is a striking choice for bold types, but keeping your design simple with a hot pink and pastel combo is equally attractive.
Chic and Simple Floral Paint
Chic and simple floral paint can be an excellent way to introduce yourself to nail art without an enormous design. Basic blooms near the nail bed are elegant and subtle but feel free to create colorful clusters for more oomph.
Vibrant Tropical Almond Nails
Vibrant tropical almond nails are an easy way to transport yourself to the Bahamas with a few bold and brilliant shades. Bright yellows, oranges and teals are unbeatable color choices, but working in silhouetted nail art can take your design up a notch on special occasions.
Fun and Youthful Nail Art
Fun, youthful nail art is ideal for young women who want a cute and effortlessly stylish manicure. A themed design featuring summer fruits can look beautiful dotted across French tips. For a different vibe, ice cream, lollipops, cocktails, palm trees and pineapples can be stylish and beachy ideas.
Chic Summer Swirls
Chic summer swirls let you channel summertime fun without getting extensive nail art or using bold colors. Pastel swirls rocked with alternating block color nails will create visual interest.
Cute Seashell Nails
Creative and chic seashell nails are gorgeous designs that combine the warmth of the beach with the majestic beauty of the ocean. From pastel blue shades and glittering accents to delicate seashell artwork, this blissful manicure can be a striking look for your summer adventures. For a whimsical and luxurious finish, add enchanting gemstones throughout and cute art for a statement piece.
Beautiful Summer Beach Theme Nails
Beautiful summer beach theme nails use silhouetted art, glitter and pastel shades for a unique and striking result. Fluttering birds and sailing ships are beautiful additions to any design. An ombre design representing the changing colors of the sky is where it’s at if you want to skip the art.
Summer Sunset Acrylic Nails
Acrylic nails that recreate the summer sunset are an incredible choice for women who enjoy vibrant manicures. You’ll want to stick with shades like bright orange, red, pink, yellow and coral for an eye-catching result that’s packed with color. For a hint of glitz and glamor, add rose gold glitter or gemstones as a finishing touch.
Blush Pink and Teal Long Square Nails
Getting blush pink and teal shades on long square nails is a simple and sexy choice for professional women. The smooth and youthful pastel colors inject a hint of playfulness into a manicure without intricate nail art or bright colors. Plus, the lighter shades will help to hide an overdue infill.
Groovy Summer Nails
Groovy summer nails will bring a taste of disco fever to the warmer months with bright swirls, lines and glitter. Neon shades look gorgeous over a nude pink base and tanned skin, but you can stick with cooler shades if you have pink undertones.
Colorful Summer Nails
Colorful summer nails are designed for trendsetters who want to play around with blending techniques, overlays and funky artwork. Blended swirls are a pretty way to represent a summer sunset, but feel free to throw in glitter lines and French tips for more texture.
Tropical Summer Art
Tropical summer art lets you ring in your vacation with detailed designs and stunning colors. Palm trees, beach balls and cocktail umbrellas are always a fun addition to a rich pastel base. For a more colorful design, Hawaiian hibiscus flowers, multicolored leaves and kiwi fruits are all fresh ideas.
Purple Round Square Nails with Floral Art
Purple round square nails with floral art can combine royal colors with feminine artwork for a beautiful finish. Gemstones and gold accents complement dark purple shades perfectly, and hints of green or white easily brighten up this sophisticated mani.
Playful Summer Nails with Creative Designs
Fun and playful summer nails with creative designs will make you the life of the party this season. Psychedelic swirls, spotted strawberries and cute smiley faces will dial up any handshake. To complement your adorable artwork, keep any base nail colors vibrant and warm.
Short Pink and Teal Nails
Short pink and teal nails prove that striking and sexy manicures can look chic without acrylic extensions. Vine leaves and small black dots create a beautiful silhouette style that pops against any pastel blue, pink and teal shades underneath.
Long Hot Pink Manicure
Feminine and fabulous, a long hot pink manicure is a winning way to ring in the summer months with a few warm shades. A sheer and subtle pink forms the perfect base. You can then get creative with a double French tip style. Play around with magentas and hot pinks for dimension and use the extra length to add creative nail art, swirls or glitter to your fingertips.
Lavender Nails with Black Specks
Lavender nails with black specks let you express your inner goth chick with a daring and textured design. The black specks can travel up the entire nail in a random spatter or be concentrated around the bed or tips for a simpler look.
Nude Nails with Rainbow Swirls
Nude nails with rainbow swirls will shake up your typical manicure this summer. Pastels and a gold leaf are an easy way to freshen up a basic nude polish, but adding holographic tips will elevate your look.
Summer Side French Nails
A summer side French nail design can be the perfect subtle and sophisticated look you need. This modern and creative take on classic French tips will instantly draw attention. You can experiment with bright or pastel polishes to suit your style. Keep the base shade nude to draw focus to those tantalizing tips.
Modern Bright Tie-Dye Summer Nails
Modern bright tie-dye summer nails are a versatile pick for women who appreciate vibrant manicures. Red and yellow French tips look effortlessly chic paired with a casual pink nude. To add flair to your look, ask for a statement nail with blended colored lines in a zig-zag style.
Creative and Colorful Manicure
A creative and colorful manicure will look different to everyone, but it usually incorporates fun patterns, shades and shapes. Swirls and side tips look amazing and reliably cool painted in pastel polish. If you’re feeling feisty, go rogue with detailed art showcasing hot air balloons, blooms or butterflies.
Aqua and Purple Manicure Waves
An aqua and purple manicure with a breezy waves design can be a refreshing look for the summer months. The cool and vibrant colors instantly draw the eye, while the dynamic and mesmerizing swirls add visual interest and shape to a nude base. For a more dramatic aesthetic, combine two or three swirling colors to create a beautiful and flowing finish.
Summer Orange and Seafoam Green Coffin Nails
Summer orange and seafoam green coffin nails are a flawless style for women who adore sturdy acrylics. The extra length you get from the extensions gives you space to experiment with swirls, asymmetrical tips and stunning detail near the nail bed.
Cute Blue Splash Manicure
Be the star at any summertime pool party with a cute blue splash manicure. This design combines pastel and deep blue tips on a subtle nude coat of paint for an understated but eye-catching finish. For a neater design, ask for the splash design as a sleek French tip.
Vibrant Yellow with Rainbow Florals Accents
Staring at vibrant yellow nails with floral accents will seriously lift your mood this season. Warm yellows look beautiful paired with a colorful cluster of daisies or sunflowers. If you want a simpler look, pastel yellows paired with single flowers can make a stunning statement.
Trendy Summer Manicure
Trendy summer nails are all about self-expression with an emphasis on beautiful art so rock your look and show off your personality. While summer trends are constantly changing, iridescent polish, pastel French tips, dot artwork, timeless sheer-blush tones and tropical designs will always be a stylish look on your nails. Whether you’re going on vacation or visiting the beach, having a fashionable manicure can uplift your mood and help you feel confident in your swimsuit.
Modern and Artistic Summer Manicure Design
If you want to get creative, an artistic summer manicure with modern artwork and stylish designs can spice up your nails while still looking attractive. You can embrace cute sunflowers, textured seashells with gemstones, unique hot pink splashes with black dots or mix and match ideas for a fun and playful approach.
Summer Acrylic Nails
If you want to experiment with length and shape, summer acrylic nails can give you a beautiful style for the season. From bright and flawless to downright gorgeous, acrylic nail designs are a bold choice that can add strength and thickness while giving you the extra space to really customize your look. While alluring and versatile, most people are active outdoors and swimming, meaning you’ll need to devote more time to visiting the salon to replace or fill damaged nails.
Chic Summer Nail Art
Cute and chic summer nail art can take your manicure to the next level with the right design ideas. From pastel colors to vibrant shades and tropical fruits to beautiful beaches, summer artwork is a fashionable choice that will get your manicure noticed. Beautiful nail art for the summer season can feature different drawings, patterns, gems and graphics to create an amazing mural on your fingers. You can get short nude nails with abstract designs, long coffin nails with swirls or neon tips for a versatile and classy look. Simply put, your style can be anything you want so have fun, be silly and let your personality shine.
Summer Coffin Nails
Summer coffin nails are a feminine and fierce choice that come with the space to get innovative with designs, colors and decorations such as beads and jewels. Daring and trendy, this long nail-shape will taper the sides and then square off the tips, achieving a look that will easily stand out. Also known as ballerina nails, you can choose vibrant colors like blush pink, canary yellow, neon green or baby blue with sparkly glitter for a style that will drive your man wild. If you prefer keeping your manicure short, get acrylic nails for the season and highlight your exciting new look with edgy artwork.
Round Summer Nails
For a classic shape and timeless style, round nails are a versatile summer look that can elevate your outfit and suit any occasion. Round summer designs can be the perfect choice if you plan to be outdoors and active for much of the season. For an elegant finish, paint your nails with a nude polish and add some shine to infuse a hint of glamour without going overboard. Try a navy or crimson color and accent it with light designs for something more distinct.
Square Summer Nails
Durable and stylish, square summer nails are a popular and low-maintenance shape for women who are afraid of breaks and chips. You can maintain this manicure at home between salon appointments so pick a bright neon hue for an exciting change. In the spring, muted pastels are a fashionable alternative for those lazy beach days and midday parties while mesmerizing swirls, stunning abstract designs, flawless artwork and super cute beachy waves offer cool vibes all summer long.
Almond Summer Nails
Almond nails for the summer are functional, simple and elegant but can be paired with beautiful shades and designs for a stunning finish. As a flattering style, this practical shape features a naturally rounded base with tapered sides and smoothed-out tips for a small point, creating a feminine slimming effect. You can try a light ombre, color blocking or work with your technician to take an amazing new approach. You may need acrylic nails to achieve this elongated shape, but you may have the right length to keep things natural.
Bold Summer-Themed Vacation Nails
Summer vacation nails can feature colorful and fun designs such as palm trees, mermaid tails, neon shades, seashell artwork, glitter, ombre styling and shimmering finishes that will blow your mind. While adventurous and outgoing designs are popular, a themed manicure for your next spring or summer vacation can also be simple and elegant for that perfect vibe.
Summer Gel Nails
Gel nails for the summer are a chic and easy choice that offer a natural look and will last longer. While slightly more expensive, a pretty gel manicure can feature some luxurious art, striking rhinestones and fresh colors for an attractive finish. Gel polish doesn’t require as much work as acrylics and you’ll still get all the cool benefits of a long-lasting manicure.
Summer Graphic Artwork Nails
Summer graphic nail art can take your style to a whole new level while letting your creativity shine through. Graphic artwork can encompass cute images, interesting textures, fresh finishes and fun text. For a trending summer manicure, experiment with the splattered paint effect where a glittered polish is recklessly painted across a solid, matte base to create a striking contrast. This artistic take can work with natural nails or acrylics in any shape such as stiletto , almond or square.
Neon Summer Nails
Neon summer nails can be the perfect look to embrace the vibrant energy of the season while making a bold statement. A striking neon color on your nails can brighten up your days and elevate your style. Whether you’re going to a pool party or on a beach vacation, this brilliant manicure will shine and turn heads. The right design will vary based on skin tone since some polishes are better-suited for women with fair skin and others will complement darker tones. If you have a dark skin tone, neon green or yellow paint can deliver a stunning pop of color while purple and pink are dazzling choices for lighter skin.
Summer Ombre Nails
Ombre nails in the summer are versatile, fashionable and fun, featuring a mesmerizing gradient design to create a stunning manicure. With the right color combination, ombre nail designs can imitate a beautiful summer sky, a breathtaking sunset or the shimmer of the ocean for a fashionable finish. You can fade classic summer colors such as bright hot pink, baby blue, lemon yellow, seafoam green, lavender purple and ginger orange to achieve a trendy and dreamy style. With an elegant and artistic transition, your seasonal manicure can offer a magical summer celebration limited only by your creativity and imagination.

Easy Summer Nail Designs
Easy summer nail designs can offer a striking balance between simplicity and fashion for a stylish, low-maintenance look. Fun Summer Nails
Fun summer nails are a creative and exciting look that can unleash your adventurous side. If you want to celebrate summer, start with a bright color scheme that includes hot pink, electric blue, sunny yellow or zesty orange for a striking design that embraces the season and will look striking under the sun. For an adorable elegant touch, beautiful blossoms like daises and roses can be refreshing and energetic. Whether you combine multiple elements or get random colors across your fingers, fun nail designs are all about coming up with your own ideas.
Pastel Spring Nails
For an easy spring to summer transition, pastel nails are an alluring style that embody the season with a charming look. Spring nails are a popular choice that often feature soft and subtle hues combined with classic minimal patterns for a delicate feminine aesthetic. As a new design trend, you can get a French manicure and use a light pink or blue for the tips. For a consistent look, pastel polishes are always delightful and chic.
Bold and Beautiful Summer Nails
If you want to make a statement, bold and beautiful summer nails generally feature distinct designs, dynamic colors, sparking finishes and edgy artwork to create an eye-catching look. An attractive manicure can elevate your outfit, especially if you’re wearing a floral and flowing dress with sandals, sneakers or flats. A high-contrast polish like hot pink or turquoise combined with daring artwork will set your fingers apart. To take a more colorful approach, two-tone nails are always on-trend when the hues complement each other, although a simple design can symbolize the relaxed attitude of your summer vacation.
Color Blocking Summer Nails
Color blocking nails are a chic and playful way to highlight your creativity this summer. Whether you want contrasting or complementary colors in chic geometric shapes, these unique designs will create visual-interest and make your nails stand out in any crowd. For a defined look, use a white polish to outline the shapes and artwork. The more contrast you create, the better the blocking style works.

Guaranteed to make a splash, your family and friends will adore your manicure.

21 Nail Polishes That’ll Compliment Your Beach Look Perfectly
Swim in style.
Whether you strategically pack a week in advance or throw everything into your suitcase 45 minutes prior to heading out the door for your destination, there’s one thing you won’t want to leave behind for your trip: your favorite nail polishes for a beach vacation . In fact, any beauty lover knows bringing along your go-to summer shades is equally as important as packing your bikinis .
Of course, you’ll want to prepare for the possibility of your nails getting damaged and becoming brittle while your fingers are emerged in saltwater. Therefore, applying a clear top coat is essential if you’re planning on going into the ocean as it’ll provide extra strength to your nails. Additionally, according to Dear Sundays, “ a nontoxic gel will hold up better against the salt water, sand, and sunscreen than regular polish.” In that case, consider swapping your regular formulas for a gel .
To add to that, your nails should be protected from the sun just like the rest of your body. With that being said, it’s smart to choose a top coat with UV protection, such as Butter London’s Hardwear Shine UV Top Coat . Pro tip: In case your nails chip from the ocean or sand, throw the polish into your beach bag for any necessary touchups needed.
Stumped on which color to pack? Continue scrolling down to browse 21 nail polishes perfect for your upcoming trip. There are some beachy trends below that'll probably never go away, and a few surprising choices — because is there any better time to be a little extra than when you're lounging on the beach?

Limey Green
View on Instagram
Looking to make a big statement with your vacation nail polish? Lime green will no doubt do just that. When it comes to the trendy color, you can go with a light Shrek-like shade with OPI’s Pear-Adise Cove. On the other hand, if you want a hue that’s more of a slime green, try out Suite Eleven’s Quarter Water shade. Side note: Consider picking up a green smoothie at a juice shop on the boardwalk for the perfect photo opportunity with your gorgeous vivid polish.
Listen up, minimalists: Match the sand with nude nail polish . Because no, you don’t have to choose a bright neon hue for your beach polish. In fact, the shade will pair well with any bathing suit you decide to wear for your day in the sun.
Pink is a huge trend in fashion this season, so why not coordinate your nails with your chic ensembles? Specifically, consider a bright shade for an eye-catching look. For this, you have plenty of polishes to choose from — for instance, People Of Color’s Low & Slow or Zoya’s Nail Lacquer in Dacey . And if you want a hue that skews more on the orangey-pink side, look to Smith & Cult’s Plastic Beach .
A summer go-to for years, the white nail polish trend shows no signs of slowing down. And why should it? It goes with everything, is appropriate for any occasion, and can instantly enhance your (faux) tan . Despite hot white's everlasting popularity, a pale nail is always slightly unexpected; even if you choose a shimmer or off-white instead of the classic opaque hue.
Is there a more beach-ready color than coral? Not a chance. The shade breathes summer vibes, even if your vacation is in the middle of winter. When going with coral, you have options, too: Do you want a bright shade or something paler, lively orange or delicate pink? However you choose, coral is sure to work out in your favor.
Unexpected Color
You're officially #OOO — so get a manicure that reflects it. Try out one of the creme nail polish shades you've had your eye on for a while, like one of J.Hannah's nail colors ; each one is inspired by non-traditional nail polish shades, like those found in art or nature. Or, go with a color that fits into your off-work style playbook — like a dreamy, denim blue — but may not fly during office hours.
Warm Metallic
Like a bright, fun color, a metallic nail color kicks your vacation style up a notch; and going with a warm metallic versus the traditional cool chrome is unexpected. Eye-catching nails are in, and there are metallics for any mood (and comfort level when it comes to shimmer). You can try out one of Essie’s Summer 2021 Collection Metallic Gold Nail Colors , like its Get Your Grove On shade for a subtle shine. For a stunning rose gold metallic hue, doll up your nails with Olive & June’s OJSM polish .

26 DIY Summer Nail Designs That Anyone Can Create At-Home
Summer may be peak pedicure season, but that doesn't mean you can't also go all out in the manicure department. This time of year is all about bright colors, bold accents, and unexpected patterns—all of which are perfect for nail art designs. While crafting tiny works of art on your fingertips may seem intimidating, many designs are totally doable for those who don't yet have the ultra-steady hand of a pro nail artist.
However, you may want a few key tools to get started: A few great summer nail polish colors are obviously a must, as is a durable top coat. While classic polish will work fine, using gel polish is a great way to ensure that your designs will last as long as possible. To easily create small details, you might want to grab a toothpick or a super fine nail art brush if you're serious about perfecting your skills. Some nail tape and tweezers may also be in order depending on what type of look you’re going for.
Ready to create your first masterpiece? Whether you are looking to try the next big nail trend or you're just hoping to take your basic DIY manicure up a notch, here are 26 fun and wearable summer nail designs to inspire your look this season.
1. Pastel-Swooped Tips
View this post on Instagram A post shared by Paintbox (@paintboxnails)
These pastel nails manage to check off just about every summer nail art trend by featuring fun, seasonal colors, negative space , and whimsical tips. To add even more interest (because who doesn't like a little bit of extra credit), this mani lends some extra dimension and contrast to the swooped shapes by lining them with a polish that's almost the same color as the tip, just slightly lighter.
2. Feeling Happy
View this post on Instagram A post shared by Paintbucket (@paintbucketnails)
This extremely cute summer nail is certainly full of cheer. It's also one that you don't need a million different colors to try. All you need is a nude polish, a yellow polish, a black polish, and a toothpick or fine-tipped nail brush. After your nude base coat has dried, instantly give your mani a facelift by using the toothpick to create itty bitty smiley faces in different orientations and locations on each and every nail.
3. Psychedelic Magic
View this post on Instagram A post shared by AKIKO Nails • NYC (@akikonails_nyc)
Don't have much summer travel planned yet? These rainbow nails will take you on a trip. This super bold, eye-catching design is a great way to use just about every nail polish color you have in your nail kit. And with purposefully wavy lines, it’s also great if straight, precise designs aren’t exactly your forté.
4. Rainbow Tips
View this post on Instagram A post shared by Olive & June (@oliveandjune)
Even more popular than the asymmetrical French tip pictured above are these multi-colored tips. The bright pop featured on each nail is just the right amount for when you want fun nails that feel super summery, but you also want something you can feel confident wearing from work to weekend. As this look tends to look best on longer nail shapes, it's also the perfect pick if you're looking for a style fit for acrylic nails .
5. Yin and Yang
View this post on Instagram A post shared by Chillhouse (@chillhouse)
On the hunt for a cute summer nail art design that will also serve as a gentle mindfulness reminder? Enter: the classic yin and yang design. Not only is it visually iconic (and easy to execute), it’s also symbolically complex: the yin (the dark swirl) is associated with shadows, femininity, and motion while the yang (the light swirl) represents brightness, passion, and growth. To bring a little extra drama to this design, you might try swapping the classic glossy black nail polish for a matte shade like the KASCA Nail Polish in Velvet Black Matte .
6. Picnic-Patterned
Summertime is synonymous with picnic season. And what better way is there to pay homage to the iconic warm-weather pastime than by using it as inspo for a summer nail design idea? This fun nail art pairs delicate pastel shades with a classic gingham-type print to create a summery scene that will make the finger food feast even more enjoyable.
7. Side-Swiped
Here's a fun way to put a new spin on trendy neon nails. If using this ultra-bright family of shades on the entire nails tends to be a bit overpowering for you, try refining the look by using it as an accent color that gets paired with a classic neutral hue.
After applying a neutral base, delicately apply a swipe of the neon shade of your choosing (we're partial to this fluorescent pink hue ) along one side of your nail. Want to bump up the drama a touch? Try doing both sides so that the neon creates a graphic outline around each nail.
8. Florals, But Make Them Sparkly
Flowers and nail art are a classic combo (in fact, we have an entire blog post dedicated to floral nail art designs ), but when you add sparkle to the mix it’s pure mani magic. The best part: this nail art design is beginner-friendly (no steady hand needed). All this look requires is tweezers and the sequins or rhinestones of your choice. First, paint your nails with the polish of your choosing (we love a neutral for this look so the flowers pop). While the polish is still wet, use tweezers to gently place your first sequin, starting with the center of the flower. Then, continue adding “petals” around the center until a flower shape forms. If the polish dries before you can get all your rhinestones placed, try using a little bit of nail glue.
9. Pretty Accent Pearls
This manicure is the epitome of simple elegance. It could be the perfect choice for a bridal mani, although it’s understated enough for anyone to wear. The trick to making it feel a little unexpected is in the placement of the pearls: setting each one on a slightly different part of the nail gives the look an effortless, whimsy feel.
To recreate this look at home, begin by painting your nails with pale pink nail color like the SUNDAYS Nail Polish in No. 04 . Then add a drop of nail glue wherever you want to place your pearl. Use tweezers to apply the pearl, then repeat on the rest of your fingers.
10. The New French Mani
You heard it here first: The classic French manicure is back in a big way. Invented in the ‘70s by Orly founder Jeff Pink, the French mani famously features a nude base with a white tip. There have been endless iterations since, but this new asymmetrical take gives the iconic style a welcome refresh. With one side of the white tip extending down the side of the nail, it adds a graphic twist while also giving the illusion of length.
11. Brush Strokes
File this look under “manicure ideas for people who can’t do nail art.” The abstract, artsy mani uses negative space (meaning you’ll leave a little bit of your nail bare), one polish shade, and gold foil. If you don’t have gold foil handy, you can just as easily recreate the look by using two contrasting nail polish shades. One pro tip: Be sure to let the first polish dry completely before applying the second, otherwise the colors will blend together.
12. Glitter Gradient
Few manicures spark joy quite like one that features not one but two of the top nail art trends: ombré and glitter. Seamlessly combine the two looks by first applying a bold shade as your base. Then, use a glitter top coat on all fingers or just on two accent nails (one on each hand). To make sure you achieve an ombre effect, be sure to apply more glitter around the tip of the nail so that it forms a gradient from the base upwards.
13. Getting Graphic
If you're partial to neutral shades, geometric nail art is a great way to tone down the saturation while still keeping the fun factor high. This color and design combo is also a great move if you tend to prefer short nails. If you’re blessed with a steady hand you can certainly freehand these geometric lines, but if that's not quite the case, try using thin nail striping tape. Much like using painter’s tape on a wall, this tool makes it ultra-easy to create crisp lines on those itty bitty nail beds every time.
14. Summer Love
Did you think heart nails were reserved just for Valentine’s Day? Think again! Not only is the simple motif easy for nail art amateurs to master but it also treats you to a dose of self-love every time you glance down. If you don’t want to paint them on every nail, one or two hearts per hand is all you need to add a little bit of summer romance to your usual at-home manicure.
15. Striking Sparkle
If ombré nails are for minimalists, this full-on glitter nail is for all the maximalists amongst us. Instead of creating a gradient effect with your go-to glitter polish, this look creates a stark division halfway up the nail bed. To recreate this design at home, apply your base coat and the primary nail color of your choice. After that fully dries, grab that nail tape and apply it horizontally across all of your nails. Then, add the glitter polish to the top half, allow it dry, and remove the tape for satisfyingly sharp lines.
P.S. If you sometimes struggle to get the kind of glitter density you see here, try using our expert tips on how to apply glitter nail polish .
16. Mixed Patterns
Can’t decide on one nail design? Try them all . Okay, maybe not literally—but it’s important to remember that there are no rules when it comes to nail art. If you feel like mixing it up on each nail, or every other, or one on each hand, go for it.
17. Reverse Triangles
This version of the graphic mani moves the triangles to the bottom of the nail, helping to make nails look extra long. Want to give the look a little extra touch of glam? Try outlining the triangle shapes with a thin line of glitter.
18. Flower Power
With a handful of music festivals finally back on the horizon, now feels like the perfect time to start perfecting your ‘70s-inspired floral nail art. The key to mastering this look is choosing super-saturated colors (think: electric teals like COLOR CLUB Nail Polish in Palm to Palm and vibrant fuschias (like BE A BOMBSHELL COSMETICS Nail Polish in Holy Fuchsia ).
19. In the Stars
Are you a little bit astrology obsessed? Even if you're not, you'll definitely appreciate this dreamy, zodiac-inspired manicure. This look works with any color combo (so long as there is a good amount of contrast between the two), but if you're looking to take it to the next level, try coordinating your base color with your (red for Aries, black for Scorpio, etc.). To create precise constellations, a toothpick or nail polish pen is definitely in order.
20. Classic Accent Nail
Sometimes you just can't beat a classic. An optic accent nail is the move anytime you want the look and feel of nail art, without any of the effort. Just be sure to choose a contrasting color for maximum impact, like this white-and-red combo.
21. Negative Space Half-Moons
Half-moon manis (aka the reverse French manicure) had a moment a few years ago, and TBH we’re still not over them. Not only are they unexpectedly cool, but they’re a great choice for gel nails since any new nail growth will blend in with the bottom of the manicure. Genius!
22. Sophisticated Silhouettes
Feeling pretty confident in your nail art abilities? This expressive silhouette motif is taking over the fashion and beauty world and it makes for a perfect nail design. While some nails may be big enough to fit a whole face, you might try just doing an eye or some lips on another (just say you were inspired by Picasso).
23. Whimsical Swoops
Meet the easiest pattern you haven’t tried yet. To master this nail art trend, all you need is a great base color, a nail art pen, and a trusty top coat. After your base color has dried, get creative by drawing curved swoops across each nail bed, making sure that each design is a little bit different than the last.
24. Analogous Mani
In color theory, analogous colors are a range of different shades that all sit next to each other on the color wheel (think: violet, violet-red, and red). By translating this classic design principle to nail art, you can create a multicolored look that's fun and unexpected but still harmonious.
25. Leopard Love
If you hold the belief that leopard is a neutral when it comes to your wardrobe, why not extend that mindset to your nails? This pattern may seem complex, it's actually more time-consuming than anything else, with loose squiggly shapes it's surprisingly great for anyone with a slightly shaky hand.
26. Negative Space Stripes
This striped look is sporty, unexpected, and most importantly, extremely easy to do. Simply lay a piece of thin nail tape diagonally down the nail, then paint one color on one side and your coordinating color on the other (we're really digging this darker + lighter combo on each nail). Once the polish dries, remove the tape, and voilà! A perfect negative-space stripe with clean lines on either side.

The temperatures are rising, beach days are here, and suddenly, we have a sunny disposition. That goes for our nails too: cheery, vibrant, bold colors are all we want on our fingertips. We spoke to nails artist, and they confirmed there is a hot wave of summer nail trends that allow you to incorporate all of your favorite, lively colors into one design.
Sure we love a simple, solid manicure — but now is the time to go all out, say, for that vacation you have been counting down the days until. This summer, more is more (is more). If you consider yourself a maximalist, rejoice. Nail art trends like skittle nails (with a different shade painted on each nail to create a rainbow of colors) and the aura nail trend — which blends multiple colors into a dreamy ombre finish — are just waiting to make an appearance on your nails.
And if you are a minimalist, you can get excited too. A neon palette may, in fact, be new territory for you, but you’d be surprised just how wearable some of these nail designs are, even in shocking hues. One standout you are sure to love is the micro French, a design that’s dainty when done in pastels but can easily be dialed up when executed with electric pink or orange. For the undeniably bolder trends (like tie-dye nails), know that there is a way to scale back these designs, while still making quite the splash.
Ahead, all the inspiration you need for an entire summer’s worth of manicures that are sure to turn up the heat.

Aura Nails
If you have ever had your aura photographed, you might be familiar with the splotches of colors that have a whole lot to “say” about your energy. That visual — as in those colorful clouds surrounding your silhouette — was nail artist Jin Soon Choi ’s inspiration for the vibrant “abstract aura nails” she dreamed up for Christopher John Rogers most recent runway show.
Choi used nail sponges dipped in two different shades of blue nail polish to create a diffused effect on some models, and shades of orange, yellow, and aqua on others. “To build the color, the first layer should be super light, the second layer should be a bit darker and smaller, and the center dab should be the darkest to create an ombre effect for an aura look,” says Choi. We can’t speak to the exact meaning of the colors, but we predict good vibes.
Skittle Nails
Why settle for one polish color when you can taste, we mean, wear the rainbow? For this candy-colored manicure, each nail gets two coats of a different shade of nail lacquer. Dang recommends sticking to the same color family: “If you pick a neon color you should go with all neon polishes to make a cohesive color palette.” You can give them even more flair by finishing your manicure with a layer of shimmery top coat like ILNP Holographic Shimmer Nail Polish in the shade Secret Society .

Micro French Nails
By Marci Robin
By Jennifer Hussein
Meet the micro French manicure, set to reign supreme in months to come. She is the cooler, younger sister to the classic French manicure , but with an ultra-fine tip. And “instead of a classic white tip, many are reaching for vibrant neons, and showstopping pastels to match their summer vibes,” says Hayley Dang, a nail artist at Bellacures salon.
Apply two coats of neutral polish (we love Allure Best of Beauty winner Olive & June nail polish in the shade Potporrui ) as your base color. Once that drys, “paint on your color along the very point of your nails with a small thin brush ,” says Dang. “Make sure to use slow and steady strokes to guarantee the most precise application.” This look works on all nail shapes but is especially cute on short square nails .

Wavy French
The French manicure is making waves… yet again. Compared to the precise nature of the classic version, this design is fairly easy to freehand. Before swirling on the art, make sure to “remove any access from your brush,” says Sacramento-based nail artist Fabian Robles . “This is going to help you achieve thin lines and prevent blobs of polish.” Then squiggle a line around the arch of your fingernail and fill in that border with a thin coat of paint.
If you want to make an even bigger statement, consider outlining the design with a metallic polish. A golden lacquer like Chanel Le Vernais in Phénix will really make the look sparkle.

Butterfly Nails
Spread your wings this summer and try painting an intricate nail design. Butterflies make for great nail design inspiration. To mimic the pattern you would see on the insect’s wings, Rosa draws on circles and then paints a line in between them. “The goal is for each finger to be different, so you’ll draw your circles in different areas each time,” says Rosa.
Tie Dye Nails
Nothing screams summer quite like a cheery tie-dye pattern — and that statement is not limited just to T-shirts. We suggest taking the print for a whirl on your nails. Instead of covering your entire nail bed in the design, leave some negative space, like Los Angeles-based nail artist Bana Jarjour ’s take on the look. If you want to simplify things even more, try keeping the tie-dye to an accent nail or two.
Whether you decide to paint all ten tips or just a few, be sure to prep the desired section of the nail with two coats of white polish. This creates a canvas for the colors to pop. Once that dries, add a thick line of each color. The trick to getting the blurred, tie-dye-like finish? “Before the polish dries, use a thin nail art brush to lightly drag the colors upward, then downward,” says Jarjour.

Just Saying, These Vacation Nail Colors Look Best With an OOO Message
If you've got vacation on the brain, you're not alone. We're so ready to pack up our favorite new swimwear , our easiest and breeziest wardrobe pieces, and our travel-sized beauty essentials to jet off and unplug. But the pre-travel ritual that eclipses all others is that sweet manicure where you select the vacation nail color you'll wear throughout your trip. It might seem like a small detail, but it's low-key the most important preparatory step you'll take.
Call us dramatic, but we're firm believers that your vacation nail color sets the tone for your trip. Picking a classic or more neutral hue is great if you're gearing up for a week of exploring sacred sites and dining in world-renowned restaurants, but if you've got beach hopping or day clubbing on the agenda, you might want to go with a more exciting shade. See how important your polish is for setting the vibe of the trip? Keep scrolling for our 9 favorite vacation-ready nail colors that will get you excited for the travel season.
Black and White
Black and white may sound like the most basic of nail color choices, but they're timeless classics for a reason. No matter what your vacation itinerary holds, you'll never regret having your nails painted solid with either of these hues or adorned in designs using a combination of the two.
Get the look:
All-Over Red
This year-round color is another classic that fits into any and every vacation aesthetic. During the warmer months, reach for a hue that skews more orange for a fun and fiery jolt of color.
Shades of Blue
Take a break from winter-ready navy and step into lighter and brighter shades of blue for your next adventure. Whether it's a nail bed covered in an opaque sapphire or a solid royal blue or a negative space design that uses a more playful azure or robin's egg, you really can't go wrong.
Pretty Pastels
Pastel nails have been pigeonholed as spring's signature palette, but they're always welcome on vacation. The white-tinged hues are soft and versatile and add the most subtle infusion of joy to any manicure.
Elevated Neutrals
Sure, you could go with a pretty beige manicure , but why not lean into the fashion set's current neutral favorites: brown and clay-toned green? They're the chicest and least boring hues that are also super versatile and muted at the same time.
Green on Green
Speaking of green, vacation is the perfect time to go all out with hues across the spectrum. Forest green, seafoam, and variations of jade and mint are all great options.
Blush and Bubblegum
Pink nail polish is always a vibe, but on vacation, it's all about those ultra-light blush tones and saccharine hues of bubblegum pink. Mix-and-match or wear them alone for an undeniably sweet manicure.
Neon Dreams
Whether or not neon nails feel appropriate for your everyday life and style, vacation is the perfect opportunity to let loose and sport a vivid, eye-catching manicure that can light up a room. Every time you look down at your hands, you'll be reminded to keep the party going.
French… But Make It Fashion
You really can't go wrong with a French manicure, and the trend has gotten revived in a major way over the last couple of years. A stylish update to the classic design—think double lines, negative space, or a unique color choice—is the perfect way to adapt it to match your vacation vibe.

Sarah Rand • Oct 5, 2023
Beauty prep for a vacation can be almost as important as packing. Depending on the destination and traveler, self-care and vacation prep can include a short or extensive list of appointments and stops ( or a DIY night at home ). The two weeks before a vacation are prime time for high or low-maintenance beauty services, with nails being one of the most important. Selecting vacation nails can help create excitement about the upcoming trip and ease travelers into relaxation mode.
Looking for the perfect manicure nail design for vacation? Check out these vacation friendly nail styles that you can DIY or get done at the salon.
DIY Nail Styles for Less Fuss While Traveling
Neutral designs and colors are great picks for longer vacations because they help hide new growth and can make manicures look fresher for longer. Vacationers can create some nail designs at home to save money and time during crucial travel prep times.
French Tips Are Classic
@miathelabel_ / Instagram
The French tip manicure is a classic go-to nail design that is always in the arsenal, but overlooked far too often. This effortless look is not too specific for vacation destinations and matches almost every outfit color or style. New renditions of the French tip are popular, with highlight colors and accents being all the rave.
Chrome Accents for Adventurous Vacations
@v.nailedit_ / Instagram
If seeing Beyoncé is on your vacation to-do list, try out a chrome-inspired nail design. Metallic nail designs do not have to cover your whole nail, so nude or clear bottom coats with glitter top coats are a good option. Investing in press on nails is also an excellent way to prioritize ease.
Barbie Pink Is the New Black
@beautyspace_charlotte / Instagram
This trend has become more popular since the 2023 “Barbie” movie was released and flaunted all things pink and bright. The unofficial color of the summer is a great look for those wanting to strut their stuff and make a statement at every travel destination.
Ombré Nails To Visualize a Vacation Sunset
@bycheznails / Instagram
The aesthetically pleasing gradient colors of ombré nails are the perfect look for a warm getaway. The bright pops of color will fit the vacation vibe and does not require professional precision, so this style is perfect for DIY manicures.
Best Vacation Nail Salon Quality Styles
Some people prefer attention-grabbing styles for their vacations. If DIY or simple styles are not ideal for travel, show these designs to your nail tech.

The Best Travel Nail Care Tips
Table of contents.
Travel Fashion Girl help! A reader asks:
“Hi ladies! What do you all do for your nails while traveling? I have natural nails that I keep short, manicured, and polished. I am lucky to get a week out of a shellac polish, so that’s not a good option.”
When packing for a trip, it’s easy to remember makeup, skincare, and hair products, while forgetting about a few essentials for your nails. But there’s nothing worse than straggly nails.
Whether you plan to go all out with your manicure or just want to keep your nails nice and tidy, our readers shared their tips for how to keep your nails in shape while traveling.
Tweezerman Nail Clipper
Keep Them Short and Shellacked
One of the simplest ways to keep your nails looking clean and natural is to go for the basics: nail clippers and a clear shade of polish.
One reader says, “I usually do shellac. I can go quite a while with them when they’re short.”
Add to your toiletries bag nail clippers, a nail file, and your favorite clear polish. Clean and clear nails are always in style, and it’s the perfect style if you’re backpacking or embarking on more rugged traveling.

Aimeili Gel Nail Polish
Get a Gel Manicure
Gel manicures are known for their long-lasting powers, plus they look amazing when you’re visiting a stylish European city, like Paris or London. If you’re heading on a longer trip, a gel manicure will last the entire time so you don’t have to worry about touch ups.
One reader says, “Only thing that works for me on vacation is gels,” while another adds, “I get gel manicures for trips because they last for weeks without chipping. I get French tips because you can’t tell when they start growing out because of the clear polish.”

Modelones Gel Nail Polish
Go for Glitter or Metallic Polish
While glitter isn’t for everyone’s style, it’s also a little known secret for avoiding chipped nails when you don’t want to touch up your nails while traveling. There are so many colors and styles of glitter, and it’s a great option if you tend to wear neutrals.
One reader says, “I do glitter polish . It hides chips very well and I can touch up without it being obvious. I also keep a little nail kit in my bag with remover pads so when it gets too chunky I can start over.”
Editor’s note: this is my secret and it always works! Silver is my go-to polish color. Here are more available glitter polish!
Seche Clear and Seche Vite Base Coat and Top Coat
Invest in a Good Base and Top Coat
If you love a good color polish but find your nails chip within a few days, try using a good base coat and top coat to seal in the color. A base coat prepares your nails for a smooth polish and strengthens your nails, while the top coat helps protect the color and adds a high gloss finish.
A reader shares, “I always had the problem of my nails chipping only a day or two after doing them. I recently got a very good top and base coat from Seche. I’d highly recommend it. I now get around a week out of my nails without chipping.”
Here are more base coat and top coat !
Essie Nail Color Ballet Slippers
Enjoy a Nude Nail Polish
Even if your nails don’t normally chip, when your nails grow out, there’s nothing worse than bare nails next to a bright red. If you don’t want to touch up your polish while on vacation, stick to nudes and neutral colors.
One reader says, “It’s the growing out that looks weird so I tend to nude or natural looking colors ,” while another adds, “I like my nails short, nicely manicured with my favorite polish, Ballet Slippers by Essie.”
Plus, these nude colors are timeless, and especially chic for European cities like Paris or London.
Here are more nude nail polish !
Tweezerman Mini Manicure Kit
Skip the Nail Polish Altogether
If you’re more of a minimalist, avoid the polishes and focus on keeping your cuticles and nails in good condition. Bring a small nail kit with an emory board, nail buffer, hand lotion, and a cuticle gel.
One reader says, “Nicely manicured nails and well-moisturized cuticles and hands with no polish look better than nails with damaged polish. The only maintenance required is an emory board and good hand lotion. Why worry about your nails on vacation!”
Another says, “I rarely wear polish. I buff my nails and keep them at a medium length. Easy to maintain while traveling.”
Take a look on these travel nail kits !
Sally Hansen Treatment Cuticle Rehab
Moisturize Your Cuticles
Ragged cuticles not only feel uncomfortable, but they also look awful. One reader says, “Well moisturized cuticles make a world of difference, with or without polish,” while another adds, “I make sure my cuticles look good and keep my hands moisturized but the nails short and natural.”
There are plenty of travel-friendly cuticle oils and creams you can keep in your handbag to use on the go. For longer trips, you can pack a cuticle gel for a more intensive treatment before bed in your hotel room.
Take a look on these travel friendly cuticle cream !
Bee Naturals Cuticles and Nail Oil
Choose Organic Nail Products
If you’re health conscious and like to know what ingredients are in your products, skip traditional nail polishes and choose ones that are organic or eco-friendly. Not only are they better for the environment, but they’re also better for you, too!
One reader says, “I quit polishing because of the toxins in polish and my nails are healthier than they ever were before. I understand the appeal of pretty colors but since I quit using anything but organic products on my body, my routines have become much easier and definitely lower maintenance and less expensive.”
Here are more cuticle oils you can bring on your travels!

Something not mentioned that I always travel with is a small nail brush. (I seem to have nails that attract dirt!) Takes up literally no room and as I wear my nails nude I like to be able to give them a good scrub every few days 🙂
I also don’t take a specific cuticle oil- Jojoba oil does an excellent job (as well as body moisuriser, makeup remover and hair tamer) or a rich hand and body cream such as Weleda’s Skin Food.
Hi Justine, thank you for sharing your awesome travel hacks for caring for your nails with us!! 🙂

Even if you don't consider yourself a flowery perfume lover, there are a number of versatile, robust options that make it easy to dip your toe into the fragrance family without smelling like a full-on flower shop. "To prevent floral fragrances from feeling dated, it's important to incorporate modern and versatile notes alongside traditional floral elements," Grugeon adds. "Citrus, fruity, or green notes can add freshness and vibrancy, while woody or musky undertones provide depth and sophistication, creating a balanced and timeless composition."
Whether you're already a fan of flower-forward fragrances, or looking to challenge your scent palette, read on for a few of our favorite floral perfumes from top brands like By Kilian and Marc Jacobs that deliver a unique spin on the classic scent profile.
One of Grugeon's top picks is this gem from Lancôme. In addition to its base notes of patchouli, papyrus, and incense, the fragrance also blends together heart notes like orchid, strawberry, and of course, essence of the black rose. It's nicely rounded off with fruit-forward pear, bergamot, and tangerine. "This fragrance provides a new way to look at and experience the addictive smell of rose," she explains.
Who needs a literal bouquet of flowers when they can apply Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet Eau de Toilette? Its combination of calabrian bergamot, damascus rose, peony, and white musks make it the perfect spring season fragrance.
The stylish design of Bvlgari's Allegra Magnifying Rose eau de parfum bottle alone is enough to want to spritz it on. Add in its blend of Damascena rose, plus, more intense Turkish rose , and any true floral lover will be sold.
Anyone who loves floral fragrance but is over the scent of rose should try out Chanel's Gardénia eau de parfum. Its notes of jasmine and orange blossom make the fragrance subtly fresh and floral.
Armani's My Way eau de parfum has a classic tuberose blend that also features gourmand and fruity notes of bourbon vanilla and pear.
Viktor&Rolf Flowerbomb Tiger Lily Eau de Parfum
The latest iteration of Viktor&Rolf's beloved Flowerbomb eau de parfum can seamlessly transport you from spring to summer, thanks to top notes of coconut milk accord and bergamot, a middle note of tiger-lily accord, and mango at its base.
Just when you think you're spritzing on a classic rose perfume, Rose Oud by Kilian Paris takes things up a notch. The scent gets a spicy kick from its cinnamon and cedarwood notes that's sure to set it apart from the rest of the floral fragrances in your collection.
While Grudgeon is especially partial to Marc Jacobs's original Daisy eau de parfum this fresher iteration combines banana blossom, jasmine, and vetiver for more of a wildflower bouquet. And just imagine how fun its stem-filled bottle will look sitting on your countertop.
Tuberose is the star note in this citrus floral perfume from Ellis Brooklyn. Hints of Italian bergamot, golden gardenia, and honeysuckle add a zesty twist to its classic floral composition.
This scent's blend of black currant liquor accord, Isparta rose petal, and patchouli is intoxicating enough to spark a new romance —or rekindle an old flame.
Valentino Donna Born In Roma Eau de Parfum
Blackcurrant, jasmine grandiflorum, and bourbon vanilla notes create Valentino's Donna Born In Roma warm floral scent, which isn't overly sweet. The blend is also inspired by a combination of Roman street style and edgy haute couture.
Molton Brown Flora Luminare Eau de Parfum
Flora Luminare by Molton Brown is a true floral fragrance through-and-through, starting with its signature floral ylang-ylang note. Its composition also features heart notes of tiare absolute, jasmine absolute, and rose absolute.
Gucci Flora Gorgeous Gardenia Eau de Parfum
Notes of pear blossom accord play nicely with white gardenia in Gucci's best-selling Flora Gorgeous Gardenia eau de parfum. The popular scent is finished with a hint of brown sugar that lingers on the skin for hours .
Henry Rose Flora Carnivora Eau de Parfum
This fresh floral perfume blends earthy vetiver with fragrant jasmine, tuberose, and orange blossom for a versatile scent that isn't relegated to just the spring months. It also happens to be extremely layerable, as an added bonus.
Creed Spring Flower Fragrance
It's difficult not to picture yourself running through an English garden after a few spritzes of this soft floral scent. It combines top notes of bergamot and grapefruit with jasmine and white flower bouquet before drying down with base notes of ambergris and musk.
D.S. & Durga Rose Atlantic
Described as "an eau de parfum built on notes of summer by the ocean in New England," this fresh floral perfume starts with notes of salt water and white moss before drying down to a rose accord with top notes of lemon oil and bergamot.
Maison Francis Kurkdjian Amyris Femme Eau de Parfum
Maison Francis Kurkdjian's Amyris Femme eau de parfum combines the scent of Jamaican Amyris tree with rare iris from Florence, Italy. The fruity-floral fragrance has distinctive notes of lemon blossom, pear accord, and sweet pea to round it out.

"That Was 20 Years Ago, And I’m Sure It's Even Worse Now": People Are Sharing The Popular Travel Destinations They Did Not Enjoy
"The most fascinating part of the whole vacation was realizing that many people live for this place. The crowds…the prices…the lines. Never again for us."
BuzzFeed Staff
When you travel to a new place, you probably leave home with high expectations. After all, you never know — you could be embarking upon your new favorite destination. But chances are, you haven't been head over heels for every locale you've visited.
So I asked the BuzzFeed Community to tell me about a destination that left them feeling underwhelmed. Here's what people said, along with comments from some redditors who love to travel.
1. "san francisco. the city was so crowded, i didn’t like the food, and the homelessness we saw all around us was extremely sad.".
2. "Virginia Beach. I love beaches, but Virginia Beach was murky and way overcrowded, and there was not much to do. It’s also near a military base, so having the constant military planes overhead was just unnerving."
— Chocolateboujie
3. " New York City . I remember coming up the escalator from Penn Station and immediately smelling pee. I recall walking streets that were lined with huge piles of stinky trash bags. It was so dirty everywhere, I was afraid to touch anything. That was 20 years ago, and I’m sure it's even worse now."
— mellowswan58
4. "Cabo San Lucas. There were massive ships blocking the horizon, panhandlers who would stand in front of you so you couldn’t see the ocean, and hordes of people getting in the way at every snorkeling spot. There were beach chairs packed like sardines. I love other parts of Mexico, but Cabo was generally an underwhelming experience."
5. "Venice. This Italian city was so crowded and overrun with tourists that I couldn't even stop to enjoy the sights and experiences around me."
— alyssiadspence
6. "Disney World. My whole family was so excited about this Florida vacation, and we could not wait to get there. But we spent more money than planned (we still can’t even stomach how much we spent), we fought more as a family than we ever had, and we stood in line after line after line. The most fascinating part of the whole vacation was realizing that many people live for this place. The crowds…the prices…the lines. Never again for us."
7. "Bora Bora in French Polynesia. Yes, it’s so beautiful, but there’s really nothing to do beyond the beach. And you have to stay at one of the super-expensive resorts to actually make a trip there worthwhile. The other destinations in the Society Islands were more fun and still just as gorgeous."
8. "Egypt. I was so excited to go, but it was the worst place I’ve ever traveled to. Everyone tried to scam me relentlessly, from the airport clerk to the taxi drivers and the pyramids tour guide. People will tell you they recognize you from the day before, and they'll try to get you to ride their donkey and follow you even when you say multiple times that you’re not interested. It was impossible to walk half a block from my hotel to try to buy water without people constantly stopping me trying to get money in some way and some form. It was absolutely exhausting."
— poeticfish417
9. "Tulum, Mexico. It has beautiful beaches but is otherwise completely devoid of character. It's expensive and boring (unless your only goal is to party with other tourists)."
— coolmug64
10. "Sydney. I found it to be a very boring city. I hate that I wasted so much of my time in Australia there. Bondi Beach was just okay, and seeing the iconic landmarks like the Opera House felt like checking things off a box. After that, I wasn't sure how to spend my time. The city has no personality. As soon as I hopped on a train west, I saw incredible landscapes and met truly genuine folks. You can do Sydney in a day or two. I wish I’d headed into the bush the minute my plane landed."
11. "Bali. This Indonesian island is still great in many ways, but it is increasingly overrun by obnoxious tourists and expats. I'm talking vapid, entitled influencer (or wannabe influencer) kinds of tourists/expats who wait in long lines to take selfies at historical/spiritual sites that they don't bother to learn anything about."
12. "Amsterdam. It was so crowded, chaotic, and easy to get run over by other tourists on bikes who've never ridden before. I feel like it's romanticized a lot, but the first time I visited, I was genuinely disappointed. It's definitely dirty on the streets, and the canals have a lot of waste drifting in them."
— u/Marveloes
13. "Paris. What a colossally overrated city. I’ve always heard that Paris syndrome was a real thing, but I wasn’t prepared for how disappointed I was actually going to feel after visiting. The crowds were atrocious, the locals are not friendly, to say the least (even though I could speak some French), and everything was absolutely filthy. And this is all coming from a San Francisco native!"
14. "Portland, Oregon. My best friend and I drove across the country from Florida to Washington, stopping for national parks, iconic eateries, and more. We read so many good things about Portland online, but in reality, it was one of the most depressing places I’ve ever seen. The hotel itself was awesome, but outside those doors, the downtown area was awful. There was tons of open drug use, naked people on the sidewalk, and the smell of bodily fluids everywhere. It was too much. We saw other parts of Oregon and loved it (especially Cannon Beach), but Portland was a major disappointment."
15. "Santorini was pretty disappointing, in my opinion. I feel like the photos I've seen online must have been photoshopped. I expected beautiful views but ended up having to crop graffiti and dirty buildings from the backgrounds of my pictures. It was also so expensive. The cheapest lunch option I found was a small wrap for 11 euros. It really felt like a tourist trap. Rhodes, on the other hand, was gorgeous and affordable. This island was home to beautiful beaches and old medieval buildings. I would avoid spending much time in Santorini, considering how much more expensive it is than other, equally beautiful Greek islands."
16. "The Alhambra in Granada, Spain. It was so crowded, especially considering how small it actually is. I’d seen so many photos of the Alhambra where it looked so stunning, and I envisioned it being this serene palace. In reality, though, it was beyond packed with tour groups. Perhaps this is a good instance of how inaccurately social media can represent popular tourist destinations."
17. "Atlantis in the Bahamas. You have this image of a luxury resort before visiting, but upon arrival, you find this incredibly overcrowded place (and that’s *before* the cruise people arrive and completely take over the property during daytime hours). Anytime there was an issue with service, they would blame it on 'island time.' If one more person said the phrase 'island time,' I was going to lose it. We had thousand-dollar excursions, private cabanas, and dinner reservations all cut short due to island time. Paradise Island was beautiful, but we're never going back to Atlantis."
18. "Naples. I did a big European trip after college and spent about a month in Italy. Naples was EASILY the worst place we visited. Seedy, run-down, trashy, unsafe, you name it. Would never go back."
— u/ wanna_meet_that_dad
19. "Barcelona was disappointing to me. If you aren't a big drinker and don't want to do a lot of shopping, the city is kind of boring. Spend a day on the beach and another day touring, and you've pretty much done it all. That being said, going to La Sagrada Família was incredible. It made the rest of the boring trip totally worthwhile."
20. "Nashville. Traffic is a nightmare, and you cannot enjoy the downtown area because it is so loud. All of the bars have music blaring out into the street, and it just blends together into one high-decibel sound wave. Not to mention, there are people who are homeless passed out in the middle of the sidewalks. The city reeks of urine and sewage, and on weekends, you cannot even walk without getting bumped into. Don’t even get me started on all the party buses, tractors, and pedal taverns that further congest things and add to the noise, with everyone in town for sorority events and bachelorette parties."
21. "Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. It's very artificial feeling, and the whole city has a crowded amusement park feel. There's nothing eye-catching. It feels like a lesser clone of Singapore."
— gabrielavillegasn
22. " Las Vegas , for me. I know it's a very popular tourist spot in the US, but I just can't stand going there. Like most people, I was excited to go at first, but just taking a big whiff of the air there makes me gag now. The streets can be really dirty, and traffic is terrible. It is really dry, and I personally can't stand not being near a body of water."
— UncleBenjamin
23. "The Big Island of Hawaii . I recently went on a trip to the island. So many people rave about the views and the hiking trails past beautiful waterfalls. I was there for two weeks and spent roughly half of my time driving. Any waterfall 'hikes' were more aptly just short walks from the parking lot and up a couple of stairs. The volcanoes were cool, the weather was nice, and the views were okay, but I don’t think I would spend the time or the money to go back."
24. "Costa Rica. This country felt like a tourist trap. In many places, you have no option but to stay at an all-inclusive resort and purchase travel packages for adventure sports like zip lining, horseback riding, and more. There isn't much opportunity to deviate from these packages, and it's also very expensive. I felt that it was hard to learn anything about the local or Indigenous culture."

Does the world really need an Eggo pancake vacation rental?
The gatlinburg, tenn., house is the latest marketing stunt to promote a short-term rental company.
Syrup appears to be dripping from the roof. The paint on the outside resembles a stack of flapjacks. One bedroom is covered in trippy pancake-patterned wallpaper — and decked out with fried-egg night tables. The chimney resembles a stick of butter.
Is it a hangover cure masquerading as real estate? A Willy Wonka-esque breakfast factory? A kitschy nod to the most important meal of the day?
Actually, it’s the Eggo House of Pancakes , a temporary treatment of a Gatlinburg, Tenn., home that will open for free three-night rentals throughout March. The first weekend stay opened for bookings Wednesday.
The promotion has a twofold mission: to raise awareness of the Germany-based vacation rental site HomeToGo , which is listing the pancake house, and to boost Eggo’s lesser-known breakfast food.
“Everyone knows that Eggo is synonymous with waffles, but this year, we wanted to give our pancakes a moment to shine in a way that felt larger-than-life — literally,” Joe Beauprez, senior director of marketing for frozen foods at Eggo owner Kellanova, said in an emailed statement.
The pancake house might make your mouth water — or your eyes roll. It’s the latest example of a hospitality crossover trend that brought us a Peeps-inspired suite in Pennsylvania, the Barbie DreamHouse Airbnb in Malibu and a Taco Bell pop-up hotel in Palm Springs, Calif.
Airbnb has cornered the market on branded stays: The world’s last Blockbuster , in Oregon, won headlines by taking reservations for sleepovers for three nights. Gwyneth Paltrow opened her Goop-infused guesthouse in Montecito, Calif. The “Home Alone” house , re-created “Hocus Pocus” cottage , “Ted Lasso” pub and Scooby-Doo van have all been listed, too.
Danielle Finch, director of customer experience at HomeToGo, acknowledged the “experiential rentals” that walked so the Eggo house could run. She said the company hopes to collaborate with other brands in the future.
“Partnering with an iconic brand like Eggo to create a unique, pancake-filled experience was an incredible opportunity for us,” she wrote in an email. “We had the chance to tap into their iconic brand and large following plus expertise across North America to work together and create something truly special for our guests.”
Chekitan Dev, who teaches brand management at Cornell University, said in an email that there’s a long list of consumer brands that have tried to enter the lodging space — sometimes successfully, sometimes not. He said a promotional effort like the pancake house could bring some value, or it could backfire.
“In the short term, the potential upside is some media exposure, somewhat gimmicky,” Dev said. “The potential downside is the guests could have a horrible stay and damage the sponsoring brand.”
The Eggo house promotion was carefully crafted: Bookings opened on National Pancake Day (or at least one of three days that appear to be pancake-devoted). Gatlinburg was chosen because it is popular on the booking platform — and because it’s the so-called Pancake Capital of the South. The city also has one of the main entrances to Great Smoky Mountains National Park , which attracted a system-high 13.3 million visitors in 2023.
Beds and beanbag chairs are made to look like pancakes. Mini pancake s’mores — toasted in a fire pit that overlooks the Smoky Mountains — are suggested. A news release promises a “maple syrup fountain” and an “Eggo pancake-fied pool table.” The freezer will, of course, be packed with microwaveable pancakes.
After Wednesday’s initial opening, the flapjack-obsessed can try at noon on the first three Mondays in March to reserve a stay for up to eight people for weekends later in the month. Travel to and from Gatlinburg is not provided. Eggo will confirm guests on a “rolling, first-come-first-served basis,” the company said.
It’s not clear who actually stays the night in these promotional pop-ups. Airbnb doesn’t provide updates from the people who snag a night at Gwyneth’s guesthouse, Barbie’s beach house or the FAO Schwarz toy store.
Singer Rita Ora and her husband, filmmaker Taika Waititi, visited an Airbnb version of Shrek’s Swamp late last year, complete with ogre cosplay. In an Instagram video that she labeled an ad, Ora shows off the rustic furnishings and a terrible accent.
Media and influencers were invited to stay at “The Bell,” Taco Bell’s offering in 2019.
“Look how beautiful and aesthetically pleasing this is,” one YouTuber said , showing off a bed and Taco Bell-inspired wall mural (and multiple bags of chips). “I think this is the best hotel I’ve ever stayed in.”
At the Eggo House of Pancakes, the custom makeover will last only through March. But Beauprez said in his email that some of the breakfasty touches might remain.
“We’re excited to hear the homeowner wants to keep some of the pancake decor intact for future flapjacks-lovin’ guests to enjoy!” he wrote. “Fans will have to check back in April to see what’s next for this cabin in the Smoky Mountains.”
