Trek Marlin 8 Gen 2 Review

trek marlin 8 gen 2 mountain bike

Trek Marlin 8 is the premium build from Trek’s family of cross-country hardtail mountain bikes.

The Trek Marlin 8’s price is $1,330, a significant increase on the 7, but this is justified by air suspension, a tubeless-ready wheelset, and wide-range gearing, making it far more capable than the other Marlins.

Beginner and intermediate riders can be confident aboard this bike, taking advantage of its race-ready characteristics. Alternatively, load it up with a rack and kickstand and use it as a mixed-terrain commuter.

Our Trek Marlin 8 review will examine the bike’s strengths and weaknesses and offer a verdict on who should buy it.

How Heavy Is the Trek Marlin 8?

The Trek Marlin 8’s weight is 29.1 lbs, almost three pounds lighter than the cheapest model. In addition, this bike is two to three pounds lighter than similarly-priced hardtails, which makes it notably faster going uphill.

  • Air suspension fork
  • Tubeless-ready wheelset
  • Lightweight for the price
  • SRAM SX Eagle is a step down from the Marlin 7’s Deore M4100

Trek Marlin 8 Specs

Trek marlin 8 gen 2 full review.

Next, we’ll dive deeper into the components and features that make this bike stand out. But first, note the Trek Marlin 8 2022 is the same as the Marlin 8 Gen 2.

Is the Trek Marlin 8 a Trail Bike?

When comparing the Trek Marlin 7 vs. Marlin 8, there’s a discernable difference in the ability to handle chunkier terrain. However, the Marlin 8 is still considered a cross-country bike , given the 100mm of suspension and XC-specific components. Most trail bikes have 130mm or more suspension travel.

RockShox Judy Silver Solo Air Fork

Trek Bikes went for RockShox’s Judy Silver Solo Air suspension fork, which is the standout component of this bike’s setup. It’s relatively light, moves smoothly through the travel, and has decent small bump sensitivity.

Marlin 8 Gen 2 front suspension

The RockShox Judy air fork will easily give you your money’s worth if you decide to take Trek Marlin 8 on proper MTB trails.

Of course, it’s not going to handle big hits on rough trails with only 30mm stanchions and 100mm of travel  (80mm on XXS, XS), but it’s plenty capable on fast, flowy XC trails. It also has basic TurnKey lockout and preload adjustments.

Can You Add a Dropper Post to a Trek Marlin 8?

Yes, you can add some of the best dropper posts to a Trek Marlin 8. There is a hole to run the dropper internally through the top tube, but you will have to run the wire externally through the seat tube, as there is no hole at the bottom.

12-speed Gearing and Shimano Brakes

The Trek Marlin 8 mountain bike uses a modern 1×12-speed SRAM SX Eagle drivetrain, comprising a 30t steel chainring and an 11-50t cassette. This combination provides tons of range for the steepest climbs you’ll encounter.

Trek Marlin 8 SRAM SX Eagle drivetrain

SRAM’s SX Eagle 1×12 drivetrain offers a massive gear range to conquer virtually any hill you come across on your rides.

Although the gear range is better than the Marlin 7, we’re disappointed with the switch to SX Eagle, as it is a step down from Deore M4100 in performance and durability.

Thankfully, Trek maintained the Shimano MT200 hydraulic disc brakes on this bike, ensuring reliable stopping power in all conditions.

Tubeless-ready Maxxis Ardent Tires and Bontrager Kovee Rims

The Trek Marlin 8 takes a huge step up with XC-specific Maxxis Ardent EXO tubeless-ready tires. These are fast-rolling, race-ready tires for dry to mixed trail conditions. The three-compound design reduces rolling resistance and optimizes traction, while the EXO layer provides cut and abrasion protection.

Running a tubeless setup gives the Marlin 8 MTB a massive boost in capability and comfort. Riders can run lower tire pressure to enhance traction, shock absorption, and control, opening up more trail opportunities. In addition, the risk of puncturing is greatly reduced.

Likewise, the Bontrager Kovee tubeless-ready rims are a marked improvement over the Connection rims on the other four models. They’re lighter, more durable, and designed specifically for cross-country riding.

Trek Marlin 8 Gen 2 Sizing Chart

  • XXS — 4’5″-4’9″ / 135-145cm
  • XS — 4’9″-5’1″ / 145-155cm
  • S —  5’1″-5’5″ / 155-165cm
  • M —  5’5″-5’8″ / 165-173cm
  • M/L — 5’8″-5’11” / 173-180cm
  • L —  5’11”-6’2″ / 180-188cm
  • XL —  6’2″-6’5″ / 188-195cm
  • 2XL — 6’5″-6’8″ / 195-203cm

Who Is Trek Marlin 8 Gen 2 Best Suited For?

The Trek Marlin 8 is a proper XC bike for cross-country cycling , ideal for beginner or intermediate mountain bikers who want an affordable yet capable option to hit the trails. Likewise, this bike can double as a comfortable mixed-terrain commuter or bikepacking machine, thanks to the rack and kickstand mounts.

Marlin 8 Gen 2 with a rear rack

Marlin 8 is compatible with a rear rack and even with a kickstand, so it can be a practical daily commuter or even a capable bikepacking machine.

The Marlin 8 is a broadly-appealing option as its versatility, reasonable price, and durability make it a great bike to develop your mountain biking skills on and even upgrade in the future.

Is Marlin 8 Gen 2 a Good Buy?

The Marlin 8 is an excellent buy at this price . You get Trek’s renowned reliability, air suspension, a tubeless-ready wheelset, Shimano hydraulic disc brakes, and a lightweight, compliant frame.

Marlin 8 top view

Trek gave Marlin 8 a premium finish, so the bike looks a lot more expensive than it really is, which is a nice plus if that’s something you care about.

It isn’t easy to find a hardtail at this price that handles cross-country racing, but this bike can put it up to the more expensive models. Trek Marlin 8 reviews online also paint an overwhelmingly positive picture, a testament to the quality and the value this bike offers in the sub-$1,500 price range.

Choose Trek’s Marlin 8 if you’re looking for an affordable, race-ready XC hardtail that’s equally at home in the city.

This review of the Trek Marlin 8. It is the highest-end bike from the Marlin family of aluminum mountain bikes .

It will help you decide whether this bike is worth it. I interviewed one of its owners and asked him about his experience.

We will discuss the bike’s features and performance and what benefits they bring. Of course, you also learn about the few shortcomings of Marlin 8.

KEY TAKEAWAY

Trek Marlin 8 is a great-value mountain bike suitable for cross-country and adventurous riding. However, due to the short fork travel of 100mm, it’s not the best choice for technical terrain and trails. You can buy it here or continue reading for more info.

I live in Northern England, and I am an experienced amateur mountain biker. I mostly ride cross country, but I also enjoy a good trail run. I have been riding mountain bikes for the past ten years. Before my current bike, I owned a Carrera Kraken 27.5er.

Trek Marlin 8 Summary

Joe’s Experience with Trek Marlin 8

What other alternatives did you consider before buying the Marlin 8, and why did the Marlin 8 win out in the end?

Initially, I planned to buy a Voodoo Bizango as a budget option, but after doing more research, I discovered that Trek was the better brand. I considered the Trek Roscoe 7 and the Trek Marlin 8 with their modern geometry.

Ultimately, I went with the Trek Marlin 8 since it had higher-quality components and was the most cost-effective choice.

Blue/black Trek Marlin 8 shot in a forest.

Have you bought the bike online or in a store?

I bought my Trek Marlin 8 in-store from Evan’s Cycles.

For what type of riding do you use this bike the most?

I primarily use this bike for cross-country riding, but I have also taken it on a couple of trails.

Trek Marlin 8 shot on a hill.

How would you describe its riding characteristics?

The SRAM derailleur provides a smooth gear shift, always responsive. Due to the Ardent Race tires, the Marlin 8 is one of the faster mountain bikes on smooth and dry terrain. I often pass my friends on this kind of terrain.

However, a downside of these low-rolling-resistance tires is that they struggle to find traction during wet and slippery conditions, and I often find myself spinning the back wheel.

Does the front suspension work well?

The front fork performs well. It has a Rockshox Judy silver air spring, which offers an adjustable recoil rate and a hydraulic TurnKey lockout, making it responsive and customizable to the rider’s preference.

However, when riding on more technical terrain, especially downhill, I have struggled to maintain control of the bike, likely due to the short travel suspension – the fork only has 100mm of travel.

Blue/black Trek Marlin 8 shot in front of a staircase.

Additionally, the shock absorber makes an uncomfortable whining sound upon recoil, but I believe this to be a characteristic of most MTB air springs and is a minor detail.

Would you like to have more gears, or are you ok with the modern 1X drivetrain?

My previous bike had a 3×9 drivetrain, so transitioning to a 1×12 was a big change, and I had to relearn how to use it.

But with more modern gear ratios, I find climbing with this bike to be much easier and more controllable than with a 3×9 drivetrain.

Trek Marlin 8 shot from the rear with a focus on its drivetrain.

The only limitation I have experienced so far is on high-speed downhill runs, where I have been unable to achieve higher speeds. Nevertheless, I have still managed to hit speeds of up to 35 mph downhill.

How comfortable is it on a scale from 1 to 10?

I would rate this bike as a 7 for cross-country runs compared to other cross-country hardtails.

However, for trails, I would rate the comfort as more of a 4, likely due to the short travel in the front fork.

What is your overall feeling from the ride?

Since getting this bike, I have been able to climb hills that used to require me to push my bike. The 1×12 drivetrain has given me a new sense of achievement by enabling me to tackle steeper ascents.

Is there something you don’t like about it?

The only thing I would change about this bike is the lack of a gear indicator dial. I have spent a lot of time in the wrong gear because of this, but I have gotten better with experience riding the bike.

What do you like the most about it?

What I like most about this bike is definitely the drivetrain. The 1×12 drivetrain has enabled me to reach heights that were previously unreachable.

I also appreciate the Ardent Race tires, even though they can be challenging in slippery conditions. They allow me to reach higher speeds with ease.

Trek Marlin 8 Alternatives

The Trek Marlin 8 alternatives include bikes from the same family, such as the Marlin 7 or 6, and MTBs from other brands.

I recommend checking out my article on mountain bikes for under $1000 for more inspiration.

Would you recommend buying the Trek Marlin 8?

I highly recommend purchasing a Trek Marlin 8 for cross-country and adventure use. I use it multiple times a week and often push it beyond its comfort zone, but it has never let me down.

However, if I were to buy a hardtail for trail use, I think it would be worth spending the extra money on a Trek Roscoe . With its longer travel suspension and dropper post, the Roscoe would be much more suitable for trails.

Joe, thank you again for your time and for sharing your experience!

Trek Marlin FAQ

The main difference between Trek Marlin and Trek Dual-Sport is that Marlin is a mountain bike, while Dual-Sport is a versatile hybrid bike. The Marlin is better suited for terrain as it has knobby tires, different gearing, and longer fork travel.

The difference between Trek Marlin 8 and Marlin 7 is in components and price. Marlin 8 uses better components (Shimano Deore vs. SRAM Eagle), is lighter, and is slightly more expensive than Marlin 7. Check out this Trek Marlins comparison for more details and differences with other models.

Yes, Trek Marlin 8 is a great mountain bike for beginners and those who want to experience off-road adventures. It uses branded components, follows modern trends like the 1X drivetrain, is well-made, and is available in many sizes. Its biggest weaknesses are its front fork which has only 100mm travel and weight.

Trek Marlin 8 Bike: In-Depth Review

One of the wonderful things about mountain bikes is that they all look the same on the surface level. But if one looks a bit more closely, a world of differences is extremely noticeable. While veterans and new bike enthusiasts both have different expectations of bicycles, there is a common ground. It is Trek Marlin 8 Bike.

There are always the bare essentials or requirements that these bikes have to pass. For example, the most important characteristics a mountain bike simply must have are durability and reliability. The mountain bike has to protect both itself and the rider from the harsh conditions it has to be ridden through.

While most of the more known bikes do pass this test of being incredibly sturdy and reliable, there are always models that stick out. As such, one particular bike has emerged, the one that has the potential to become one of the top-tier mountain bikes today.

The bike is the Marlin 8 model from the Trek Bicycle Corporation, and here are our thoughts about what makes this interesting model so special.

Table of Contents

Trek Marlin 8 Mountain Bicycle

Trek marlin 8 specifications, cable routing, body design, rockhopper expert, roscoe and x-caliber models, who is this bike for.

This new model does look like a regular bike at first sight, but it feels different when one uses it. As previously said, most mountain bikes are always built to be sturdy and reliable, and the riders feel it.

Neither you nor the bike feels the bumps and hits, you just continue on riding as if nothing happened. This bike is different. In addition to being really durable and reliable, it does have some extra characteristics that put it above the rest of other mountain bikes. Actually, it might be above other bikes in general.

This bike is really an all-around type of bicycle, as one can see from its characteristics.

  • Wide range of frame sizes.
  • Excellent selection of tires.
  • Equipped with a dropper seatpost.
  • Has great potential for upgrades to improve performance and customization.
  • Some riders may prefer a more snug or compact seated position, as the bike has a roomier one.
  • The use of quick-release instead of thru-axle may not provide as much stiffness and stability in the wheels.
  • Internal cable routing can sometimes result in rattling noises.

Trek has had the majority of people in mind when making this bike, trying to make it available to most people. As such, the bike comes in the majority of frame sizes , with an Alpha Silver Aluminum frame base for adults.

The rims and tires are Bontrager Kovee and Maxxis Ardent, respectively, also in various sizes. The whole drivetrain is equipped with SRAM parts, from the shifter to the chain.

Finally, the Trek Marlin 8 is equipped with a Shimano MT200 set of brakes , for all the daredevil riders out there. As for the bike weight itself, it stands at the 30-pound mark, with tubes included. The weight limit of the bike is 10 times its weight, so around 300 pounds.

Trek Marlin 8 Features

The Trek Marlin 8 model does have some interesting features that work perfectly with each other and result in an imaginative design choice.

The cables are placed inside the frame, which is not a new breakthrough, but nonetheless, a good choice. This makes the bike look much cleaner and slicker than ever.

The cables are not choked inside the tubing , as the hole is big enough to avoid choking but small enough to keep the mud out. The cables enter the frame below the handlebar. Besides the aesthetic look, this choice also keeps the cables safe by putting them away from outside harm.

The cables will get more longevity, as nothing will get caught in them and spoil the look of the bike.

The Trek Marlin 8 has a 1x drivetrain, which reduces the weight of the bike by removing the surplus gears and similar bulky parts . The downside of the 1x, as some might know, is the fewer gears than other standard drivetrains.

But the 1x also has fewer moving parts, which reduces the chance of something breaking down. The drivetrain also contains wide-range cassettes and rear derailleurs combined with chainrings that keep the chain laser-steady on off-road terrains.

RELATED: Salsa Timberjack SLX 27.5 Mountain Bike Review

This combination of parts helps in smoother gear shifts while keeping the number of moving parts and overall weight at a minimum level. You should have no worries if you think the 1x system is insufficient for a mountain bike, as the Marlin 8 showed otherwise.

This model has 12 gears which is more than enough to conquer the uphill rides and have controlled descents. The model is equipped with the SRAM PG-1210 , known for its reliability and control.

This model does not use the standard coil spring but an air one, one that is much less complicated.

The air spring is controlled through a valve, through which the rider can adjust the pressure while following a dimple inside to check when the pressure is even. The air spring that is fitted to this bike is the RockShox Solo air spring.

This one is known for being a lightweight spring with one valve, so it is easier to find a malfunction when there is only one part. It is also known for making the process of adjusting the tension go smoothly, which is important for both new bikers and veterans alike.

One of the best features of this model, the suspension allows you to switch the fork to inactive, in order to efficiently pedal.

This feature is common in professional bikes, and it really makes you feel like a pro biker. This feature is primarily used for straight roads and flat surfaces , or wherever bikers prioritize speed.

As previously said, the design is suited for everyone, having the majority of sizes to fit as many as possible, from XXS to XXL.

In addition, the top tube is at an angle for easier mounting, with an additional model that has even more of a curvy top tube.

The frame design itself looks amazing and sleeker than ever. It looks more put-together in a way, rather than having an eclectic visual style. The length of the frame and the wheels’ distance look balanced and eye-catching.

Finally, the alpha silver aluminum frame adds to the streamlined design that favors style at first sight.

Alternatives

If you have a specific reason for not wanting to buy the Marlin 8 model, here are a few options for you. These bikes are similar to the Marlin 8 models, some are from a different manufacturer, while some are Trek Corporation models.

The Rockhopper Expert from Specialized Bicycle Components Inc. is a great option. It has a similar price tag but is more focused on speed. The Rockhopper Expert has the RockShox part in common with Marlin 8.

The Talon 2 from Giant is another good alternative. The strength of this bike is uphill and downhill rides. Another good thing is that this model is more affordable than the Marlin 8, making it a popular alternative to the said model.

Literally, any Roscoe model from Trek is a good alternative. They are bigger and made for rough and bumpy rides. Being from the same manufacturer, they share a lot in common, with the Roscoe models being especially useful in extremely rough conditions.

As for the X-Caliber models, from Trek, they are mostly a combination of racing and mountain bike. They are thinner but still sturdy, but unstable for extremely rough terrains, built mostly with speed in mind.

This bicycle is a great model with amazing equipped parts, however, it might not be for everyone. This is a top bicycle meant mostly for professional bikers who like to go off the beaten path.

On the flip side, it can also be used for causal rides, as it has really good handling, suitable for everyone. To put it shortly, it is a bike that can be used by everyone, it just depends on a few things.

Depends on your own taste, needs, and budget, but the Marlin 8 model is really an all-around bike that is a jack of all trades.

One of the wonderful things about mountain bikes is that they all look the same at first sight. But if one looks a bit more closely, there are a lot of noticeable differences.

While the Trek Marlin 8 model does have the durability and reliability of a mountain bike, it is much more. It is a rare jack-of-all-trades bike that everybody can enjoy, regardless of their own needs.

Everything is a breath of fresh air for this model, from its design to the specifics. As such, this model can be recommended to everyone, it is one of the best models currently in the market.

The price will not set you back too much, as it usually floats around a thousand-dollar price tag. It is a bit more expensive than other mountain bikes, as the average price of mountain bikes is around 800 dollars, max. But you do get a great bike for the price.

As said in the article, this bike is really for everyone’s needs. It is sturdy and great for off-roading, it is good for straight rides on flat surfaces, although lacking speed. All in all, you would not make a mistake if you bought it.

While it is a jack of all trades, there might be some other models that excel in sprinting and uphill or downhill rides. What this model lacks is speed, so it is not the best option for bikers who want to ride it in these conditions.

Trek Roscoe 8 Mountain Bike

There are many reasons why people choose cycling as their main method of exercising. One of them is that riding your bike at least three to five days a week, for around 30 minutes to 60 minutes a session, can help keep you on a healthy track for the rest of your life. Cycling regularly can help with preventing arthritis, obesity, depression, and diabetes.

While there are many great different bikes, one of the most popular bikes is the mountain bike. If you are looking to buy a high-quality mountain bike, we suggest checking out the Trek Roscoe 8 review for a comfortable ride on rough trails.

Trek Roscoe 8 Trek Bike | A Quick Overview

Trek Roscoe 8

Trek is one of the most well-known bike brands. Trek is based in Wisconsin but word of mouth by many faithful and happy customers has caused them to reach audiences on a global scale. Nowadays, Trek sponsors many biking teams as well as individual bikers.

Trek makes a variety of different bikes (gravel bikes, triathlon bikes, etc), and we are going to focus on Roscoe’s climbing position. The Trek Roscoe 8 is known as a hardtail bike (a hardtail bike only has a suspension fork compared to a full-suspension plus tyred trail hardtail which has both a suspension fork up front as well as a rear shock). Basically, they do not have any rear suspension.

The frame on the Roscoe 8 is made from Trek’s aluminum of Alpha Gold grade and it has a great and sleek design frame. The bike also comes in sizes of: 13.5 15.5, 17.5, 18.5, 19.5, 21.5, and 23 inches. These side variations guarantee that despite your height and size, you will be able to find a bike for you.

Pros of the Trek Roscoe 8 Performance Bike

The Trek Roscoe 8 riding bike is able to handle tricky trails, able to handle unfavourable environments such as harsh weather (heavy rain and winds etc), is super responsive brakes, is an affordable price for its class, and it is a comfortable ride. This good bike has a tapered head tube, motion control damper and internal cable routing system for a smooth ride. Get high pedaling efficiency with serious fun and a comfortable seat tube.

Cons of the Trek Roscoe 8 Trek Bike

Its aluminum frame might not bode well with everyone. It is also a bit higher maintenance than other performance bikes-drivetrain needs to be fine-tuned in order to achieve the best performance. Lastly, its wide handlebar may cause discomfort.

What to Consider Before Purchasing

It is no surprise that biking is a great exercise to incorporate into your daily exercise routine; however, if you find that cycling simply is not enough then you should consider a strong and durable bike. They are built to take on tougher terrains and they are great if you want to go off-roading which is why you might realize that riding on the smooth sidewalk with a tyre trailed hardtail is not ideal.

Before purchasing hardtail bikes, get the Trek Roscoe 8 review on how a durable bike should perform, do consider the following aspects: Do you prefer to bike off-road?; Or do you want a bike to ride around your neighbourhood?; Do you prefer a full-suspension trek bike over a hardtail?; Would you be willing to pay more than $1800.00 for a quality trek bike?

You Should Consider the Trek Roscoe 8 review for performance bikes if you: enjoy riding on tough terrains (this means you would prefer to ride on bumpy roads than paved roads), want a high-quality hardtail bike for a reasonable price, love the look and material of aluminum frames over that of carbon frames or live in an area where you will be able to use your Trek Roscoe 8 gear bike often.

You might want to Reconsider the Trek Roscoe 8 bike if you prefer to bike on smooth, paved roads. If you bike only a few times a year or if you would not pay more than  $1,000.00 for a bike.

Full In-Depth Review on the Trek Roscoe 8 Mountain Bike

The engineering aspects | components and designs.

Engineering Aspects

We had previously mentioned that the Trek Roscoe 8 gear bike is a trail hardtail back. What this means is that it lacks rear suspension. While some bikers do not like that aspect, others are fine with it. You should consider whether or not you are comfortable with a bike that lacks rear suspension.

When a bike lacks rear suspensions this means that the overall weight of the modern bike is reduced. This, in turn, can help with control (this means you have more control over how fast you are going, your turns, and your braking) and the overall design helps with overall durability.

The Trek Roscoe 8 Mountain Bike is known to pick up speed a lot faster than most people might think which is also something to consider before you purchase this bike or if you are considering purchasing this bike-for some it is a pro while for others, a con.

We had mentioned previously that the Trek Roscoe 8 bike is made from an aluminum frame as well as mentioned the sizes (please look back at the quick overview if you need a refresher). The aluminum frame means that it will be heavier than a good bike that has a carbon frame.

If you are someone that prefers lightweight bikes then you might want to consider what your limit is. If you are someone that prefers a heavier bike, then consider that the Trek Roscoe 8 performance bike weighs around 14.5 KG.

All About the Wheels

Wheels

As for the wheels of the Trek Roscoe 8 Mountain Bike, they come with 27.5 plus tires. These tires are comfortable to ride on because they were designed to help grip and cushion the bumps and rough terrains. This bike has strength sidewalls, NX Eagle 12 speed gear, modern luxuries, indexed action, matte black finish, internal routing system, sealed bearing, modern geometry, alloy axle, long wheelbase, and big tires with high pedalling efficiency for great performance.

A good set of wheels will have you feeling as if you are “glued” or stationed on the surface which is great especially if you are a new rider. You want to feel as if you are on a bike that is able to keep you safe, not one where you feel as if you might fly off at any second.

You can, of course, switch out the wheels for bigger ones or smaller ones depending on what you are comfortable with.

The Trek Roscoe 8 Mountain Bike tires are Maxxis’ Rekon 27.5 x 2.8 tubeless tires . Tubeless tires are used to run lower-pressure rides which will improve your contact with the surface as well as aid your performance.

Another bonus is that tubeless tires are known to be less susceptible to flats. When you are out on a long trail, the last thing you would want is a flat tire or worse…two flat tires.

Performance

Performance

The Trek Roscoe 8 bike rides like a dream on rough terrains. This is due to its light frame which allows the biker to have a great amount of degree and control over the bike (braking, speeding up, slowing down, turning, etc).

The Trek Roscoe 8 bike’s suspension makes riding on harsh trails a breeze and the drivetrain ensures that you can not only pick up speed easily but also shift easily as well.

While it is important to note that these features are great, you should also be aware that they might not be ideal for long journeys as you will hit your maximum speed a lot faster than you might expect. However, for winding trails and mountain hiking, the Trek Roscoe 8 is a great choice.

Price Ranges

Trek Roscoe 8 Mountain Bikes fall under the category of “luxury bikes.” However, there are many sub-tiers that luxury bikes can fall under. The Trek Roscoe 8 falls under that of an affordable luxury bike.

A Trek Roscoe 8 Trek bike cost around $1,789.99 at the time this article is written. While we would not be surprised if the Trek Roscoe 8 does increase in price for years to come, as of 2020, this is not such a bad price. Some people might argue that for a hardtail bike, that price is a bit steep . However, with its great reviews, some customers feel it is worth the splurge.

What Else You Should Know…

What kind of tires could you fit on the trek roscoe 8 mountain bike.

> 27.5″ x 2.8″ or 29″ x 2.4″ tires

Is the Trek Roscoe 8 Mountain Bike a gravel bike?

> No, the Trek Roscoe 8 is not a gravel bike; it is a hardtail bike.

Are Trek Roscoe 8 suitable for normal roads (paved and cemented roads, smooth roads)?

> While they are not made to ride on smoother surfaces, they can be done if needed.

Is the Trek Marlin 4 Suitable for More Advanced Riders?

The trek marlin 4 beginner bike review shows that it is designed for entry-level riders looking to explore off-road trails. However, more advanced riders might find it lacking in certain aspects such as suspension and component quality. While it can handle moderate trails, experienced riders might prefer a more advanced bike with better performance capabilities.

What Customers are saying about the Trek Roscoe 8 Mountain Bike

Three Alternatives

If you like the Trek Roscoe 8 Mountain Bike but are still unsure if this is the mountain bike for you, then we wanted to offer three alternative bikes that you can consider while you are searching for your dream mountain bike.

Diamond Bike Overdrive

The Diamond Bike Overdrive also has an aluminum frame comparable to the Trek Roscoe 8 Mountain Bike (29″ Butted 6061-T6 Aluminum frame).  Similar to the Trek Roscoe 8 Mountain Bike, the DiamondBack Overdrive also has a good level for seat tube angle which is great when you are riding down bumpy roads.

To learn more about this bike, click here.  And you can check our detailed review here

Trek Marlin 6

The Trek Marlin 6 and the Trek Roscoe 8 Mountain Bike have very similar frames-aluminum frames. If you are someone that prefers a heavier bike then this would be a good option. The Trek Marlin 6 comes equipped with Tektro M290 disc brakes along with a 24-speed drivetrain which will give you a similar, smooth riding experience as the Trek Roscoe 8 Mountain Bike.

To learn more about this bike, click here

Consider the previous model of the Trek Roscoe 8 Mountain Bike. The Roscoe 7 is an older model which means it is a lot cheaper (price: $1,279.99). That is almost $500.00 cheaper than the current model. If the only thing stopping you from buying the Roscoe 8 Mountain Bike is the price then we highly recommend the Roscoe 7 .

In Conclusion

We understand that finding your ideal mountain bike is anything but easier. While a mountain bike is not as big an investment as a car or a house, if you take care of it enough, it will last you a very long time. And after trying the bike and finding other users’ reviews, I think having Trek Roscoe 8 Mountain Bike ticks everything you are looking for in a mid-level mountain bike and is worth every penny you will throw on this bike.

Stay safe and happy biking!

Top figures from business, sports and politics turned up for a lavish state dinner honoring Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. The White House on Wednesday served up a maximum dose of pomp to honor the close U.S. ally.

After a day of wide-ranging talks and a joint news conference, President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden welcomed Japan’s Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and wife Yuko Kishida back to the White House Wednesday evening for a lavish state dinner.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida cracked jokes and invoked a touchstone of American culture as he quoted from “Star Trek” at Wednesday’s state dinner , telling guests at the White House that he hoped the “unshakable relationship” between his country and the U.S. would “boldly go where no one had gone before.”

“I would like to propose a toast to our voyage to the frontier of the Japan-U.S. relationship with this word: boldly go,” Kishida said, quoting the iconic opening monologue of the original “Star Trek” series.

Kishida, who spoke in English, and President Joe Biden exchanged warm toasts to each other and the decades-long, alliance between their nations as top figures from business, sports and politics — including an ex-president — looked on. The two leaders, who expressed a genuine friendship, pledged to continue to knit together their countries’ interests in the face of global challenges.

Biden , 81, said he and Kishida, 66, came of age as their countries forged a strong bond in the decades after they were pitted against each other in World War II.

“We both remember the choices that were made to forge a friendship,” Biden said. “We both remember the hard work, what it has done to find healing.”

“Tonight,” Biden continued, “We pledge to keep going.”

As the White House served up a maximum dose of pomp to honor its close U.S. ally, notable guests included Bill and Hillary Clinton, who were on familiar turf for the event. The former president declared it “feels great” to be back before casting an appreciative eye at a portrait of his wife from her first lady days that was on display nearby.

Guests in bright spring colors and lots of shimmery gowns chatted politics and talked shop as they strolled in — that meant eclipse chatter from NASA Administrator Bill Nelson (“fabulous” view in Ohio!) and an assessment of Biden’s electoral prospects in Wisconsin from Gov. Tony Evers (looking good!).

But on a day when the inflation news from Washington was less than encouraging, Federal Reserve Chairman Jay Powell shot past reporters without stopping to chat. Olympic figure skater Kristi Yamaguchi, in a purple gown, said she didn’t expect to be out campaigning for Biden but nonetheless seemed bullish on his reelection. Actor Robert De Niro supplied the night’s Hollywood quotient and seemed to channel one of his tough-talking characters when he was asked for his thoughts about the 2024 election.

“What do you think?” he retorted.

On a warm spring evening, the Bidens came stepped onto the North Portico to welcome Kishida and his wife, Yuko, who stood out in a flowing royal blue gown on the red carpet.

Inside, Jill Biden , wearing a beaded sapphire gown, had transformed the State Floor of the White House into what she called a “vibrant spring garden” for the evening. The floor of the famous Cross Hall was decorated with images giving the nearly 230 guests the feel of walking over a koi pond, a nod to fish that symbolize “friendship, peace, luck and perseverance,” the first lady said at a media preview Tuesday.

Guests at the head table with the Bidens and Kishidas included the Clintons, De Niro and Japanese pop duo Yoasobi.

Kishida, in his toast at the dinner, enthused over the splendor.

“First and foremost, to be honest my breath is taken and I’m speechless in front of such a huge number of prominent American and Japanese guests,” he said.

A state dinner is a tool of U.S. diplomacy, an honor doled out sparingly and only to America’s closest allies. In the case of Japan, the president has granted that honor for just the fifth time to an ally that he sees as a cornerstone of his policy toward the Indo-Pacific region.

Kishida is on an official visit to the United States this week. The state dinner is Biden’s first this year.

The guests included plenty of Biden family members, including granddaughter Naomi and her husband, Peter Neal. Business moguls also were in force, including JP Morgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon, Apple CEO Tim Cook and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. Labor luminaries United Auto Workers President Shawn Fain and United Steelworkers President David McCall were also in attenddance. Both unions have endorsed Biden for reelection.

Dry-aged rib eye steak, cherry blossoms and the music of Paul Simon were also part of the evening. Simon opened his after-dinner performance by playing guitar and singing two of his major hits, “Graceland” and “Slip Slidin’ Away.”

Guests dined on a meal that was designed to highlight the “bounty of spring” in Japan and the United States: a first course of house-cured salmon that was inspired by a California roll and an entree of rib eye with shishito pepper butter, fava beans, mushrooms and onions. Dessert was salted caramel pistachio cake with a matcha ganache and cherry ice cream.

Some of Jill Biden’s favorite flowers, including sweet peas, roses and peonies, were arranged alongside imported cherry blossoms to decorate a mix of round and rectangular dinner tables in the East Room in shades of pink. A few floral centerpieces topped out at 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall.

Tables were set with a mix of place settings representing the administrations of Presidents Lyndon B. Johnson and George W. Bush. Glass and silk butterflies danced over the tables.

Simon is one of Jill Biden’s favorite artists, the White House said, adding that she chose him as a special tribute to Kishida because the prime minister also admires his music.

Simon’s career spans six decades, including performing as part of a duo with his childhood friend Art Garfunkel. The 82-year-old New Jersey native has earned numerous accolades, including multiple Grammys and a place in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Kishida is the fifth world leader Biden has honored with a state dinner following counterparts from France , South Korea , India and Australia .
