10 Best Amenity Kits in Business Class

qantas travel kit

Just a few years ago, the amenity kit was a basic offering. If they were fortunate, Business Class passengers would be given a plastic toothbrush, a tiny tube of toothpaste, a one-use eye mask, a plastic comb, and a pen. In the 80s & 90s, the sheer existence of amenity kits was a novelty – at best, passengers would find basic toiletries in a washroom basket.

Fast forward to the present day, and the amenity kit has outshone its humble beginnings, transforming into a coveted item that leading Business Class airlines vie to evolve and perfect. These designer kits are now collectable, luxurious resources, filled with branded high-end toiletries worthy of adorning the shelves of the many premium boutique stores.

Driven by the trend of upgrading food, drink, cabin interiors, and sleepwear, the once-meagre amenity kit counteracts the effects of long-haul travel, functioning as a comprehensive luxury wellness pack. Once a dull afterthought, the bag itself has become a fashion statement - a collectable item one is proud to carry home and re-purpose for use time and again.

Qantas economy class offers surprising value if you know how to maximize your flight perks. From comfortable seats to exceptional service, here’s how to make the most of an economy flight on Qantas.

What to expect flying international economy with Qantas

As with many airlines, the Qantas flight experience can vary depending on elite status as a Qantas Frequent Flyer (the airline’s loyalty program) and itinerary. For the most part, your economy flights between the U.S. and Australia on Qantas will be similar to other major airlines in terms of bag allowances, boarding, seats and upgraded tickets. You can expect:

Bag allowance. When flying economy on Qantas between the U.S. and Australia, it depends on when your ticket was purchased.

Tickets purchased on/before March 25, 2021: The baggage allowance is two pieces, though additional pieces can be purchased (for around $150-$185 each). If your baggage weighs more than 50 pounds each, there will be an additional fee of around $65-$85 per bag depending on the direction you are flying.

Tickets purchased on/after March 26, 2021: You only get one bag (extra bags cost around $200-$235) and there’s a cap of 70 pounds per bag, even for overweight bags.

Boarding. Like most airlines, boarding is ordered according to Qantas Frequent Flyer status and the fare class of your ticket. For most economy class passengers, expect to be in the later groups to board your flight.

Seats. Economy class seats are reasonably comfortable, especially if you’re flying on the Qantas B787 economy class, with its above-average 32-inch seat pitch and a six-inch recline. Further, the international Qantas A330-200 economy class seat offers a spacious 2-4-2 configuration, a netted footrest and adjustable headrest. Qantas is in the process of refurbishing the A380s to include these more comfortable international economy seats as well. Beware, however, that seat selection in economy comes at an additional fee if you’ve booked a sale fare. Qantas offers sale, saver and flex fare values in all of its classes, including economy.

Upgraded economy tickets. Looking to elevate your experience a touch? Premium economy will get you there. Premium economy flyers get dedicated check-in, priority boarding, more spacious seats and noise-canceling headphones. You’ll also experience an improved dining experience and more attentive service in a semi-private premium economy cabin — a worthwhile upgrade on longer flights.

Ways to get good value

Book flight awards early — even on partner airlines.

Arguably the best perk of the Qantas Frequent Flyer program is that its flight rewards open early, meaning you’ll have first dibs on the Qantas economy class flights you want. The airline’s Classic Flight Rewards — any ticket booked with Qantas Points for flights with Qantas, a Oneworld member airline or an airline partner (like Jetstar Airlines) — open up 353 days prior to departure. This is an improvement from others, including Oneworld partner airline American Airlines, which provides availability only 331 days prior to departure.

Earn Qantas points from a variety of resources

As a Oneworld partner airline, you’re able to fly any of the member airlines and use your points on other alliance airlines. That means that if you often fly Alaska Airlines in the U.S., you can use the Mileage Plan points you earned via domestic travel for your Qantas flights.

Oneworld member airlines include:

Alaska Airlines .

American Airlines .

British Airways.

Cathay Pacific.

Japan Airlines.

Malaysia Airlines.

Royal Air Maroc.

Royal Jordanian.

Sri Lankan.

Other non-alliance airline partners of Qantas airlines include:

Aer Lingus.

Air France .

Air New Zealand.

Air Niugini.

Air Vanuatu.

Bangkok Airways.

China Airlines.

Fiji Airways.

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines.

You can also earn Qantas points by spending on credit cards associated with transferable points programs. This includes American Express Membership Rewards , Capital One Miles , Citi ThankYou Points and Marriott Bonvoy points.

» Learn more: The best transferable points currencies and who they partner with

Book short-haul flights with Qantas points

Qantas classic flight rewards are based on distance flown. Economy flights in zone one, which is between 0-600 miles, only run 8,000 Qantas points each direction. These distance-based flight rewards make it possible to find incredible value on shorter economy flights, especially for regional flights within Australia. And, after all, if you’re making the long trip from the U.S. to Australia, you may want to see more than one city while you’re down under.

For instance, you can fly to the sunshine coast near Brisbane from Sydney for a cheaper award flight; the distance clocks in at about 570 miles.

Don’t pack plane snacks

Save room in your carry-on for other necessities instead. Economy flyers enjoy some exceptional food on Qantas, along with Australian wine, other alcoholic beverages and non-alcoholic drinks. Qantas also shines with a self-service section that allows you to enjoy additional drinks and snacks whenever you get a hankering during your flight.

Leave your toothbrush in your checked luggage

Passengers on select international flights get a little comfort kit — even those in Qantas economy class seats. Use the earplugs and eye mask to try and get some shut-eye before you touch down. The provided dental kit will also help you arrive feeling refreshed.

Bring your computer charger, but leave behind your power banks

A not entirely uncommon — but not nearly ubiquitous enough — perk of Qantas international economy flights is the presence of computer power access in addition to USB charging ports. While charging capabilities still vary depending on the aircraft, this perk, along with additional personal storage space in the Qantas B787 economy class, make for a more enjoyable long-haul economy experience.

The bottom line

Qantas economy class seats offer attractive legroom and seat width. Your best bet for further comfort is to fly economy class on a B787, with its even more sizable seats. With above-average food and a reputation for service, you can’t go too wrong with Qantas Airlines international economy flight.

Amenity Kit Review: Qantas First Class Martin Grant

' src=

Welcome to another installment of our amenity kit review series. As in previous reviews, I will be reviewing this amenity kit on a scale from 1 to 5 (being the best) and will rate it based on five categories:

  • Bag/container: design, quality and reusability/collectibility of the bag.
  • Product: quality, size and variety of the facial and body products.
  • Comfort items: eye masks, ear plugs, etc.
  • Miscellaneous: pens, tissues and everything else.
  • Extras: additional items that make your flight just a tad more comfortable including pajamas, slippers, etc.

Qantas First Class Martin Grant Amenity Kit

Qantas describes these amenities this way:

Martin Grant designed sleepwear and amenity kits for customers travelling in First, offering luxury and comfort. Designed exclusively by Qantas’ Creative Director of Fashion, Martin Grant, the unisex navy and black trim Qantas First pyjamas are 100 per cent cotton, feature a tailored neckline and tapered silhouette to ensure elegant comfort in the First cabin, and come with matching slippers. Stylish male and female First amenity kits come in the same navy hues and feature a range of bespoke hydrating ASPAR by Aurora Spa products, Martin Grant-designed travel socks, dental kit, ear plugs and deodorant. Amenity kits also feature a Martin Grant designed eye mask that cups the eyes for maximum comfort and light block out. Here is the male kit:

qantas travel kit

And the female kit:

Review: Qatar Airways A350 Economy Class, Los Angeles to Doha

Seemingly the difference between these is only in the deodorant and some slight color differences.

Bag/Container

qantas travel kit

The cases are a small navy blue zippered pouch with black accents. Nice and compact,  but I prefer pockets or other compartments to separate items. Score: 3.5

qantas travel kit

Inside the kit is a small box containing 4 cosmetic items. Aspar is an Aussie company, and these items are exclusive to Qantas First. These are similar to the products in Qantas First Class lounge showers, and I’m a fan. Inside are 15ml tubes of hand and body cream and face moisturizer. There is also a 10ml tube of lip moisturizer and a small bottle of face mist. I’m no cosmetics expert, but I enjoy the scent, and find these products great. Score: 5

Comfort items

qantas travel kit

The typical items are here, with socks, earplugs and an eyemask. Socks and earplugs are fine, nothing special. The eyemask is unique in that it looks a bit like a bikini top. It certainly is comfortable, but takes some getting used to. As described, it does indeed cup the eyes…  Score: 4

Miscellaneous

qantas travel kit

A full sized toothbrush, a decent sized (25g) tube of Colgate toothpaste, and a toothpick/flosser are decent items. There are razors and shaving cream in the lavatories. These items are fine, but nothing special.  Score: 4

qantas travel kit

In addition to the items already listed, some dark blue pajamas are provided, these are lightweight, and made with 100% cotton. I found these comfortable, and they will certainly be in the rotation to wear again. There is a drawstring and pockets on the pants. The only logo is inside the neckband. I actually preferred the look of the business class pajamas which have a prominent Qantas kangaroo logo. The slippers are good too, they are actually large enough to fit comfortably, and nicely padded for a trip to the lavatory. Score: 4.5

qantas travel kit

Final thoughts on Qantas First Class Martin Grant Amenity Kits

This is a very nice kit, and based on my ratings it averages to 4.2. My only real complaint is about the bag itself. The eyemask is unique, but comfortable, and the pajamas and slippers are excellent. The Aspar lotions are really nice as well.

Have you received one of these kits?  Please let us know what you think.

Best Business Class Amenity Kits 2024

One of the perks of flying business class is the little extras airlines give travelers to enrich their inflight experience. Of course, an airline’s specialized cocktails or exclusive dishes can help distinguish its services from its competitors. However, the one thing all business class flyers look forward to receiving is the gift waiting on their seat. With that in mind, we wanted to create a blog that looks into the best business class amenity kits.

Qatar Airlines, Business  class Amenity Kits

Qatar Airlines is among the five best airlines and is considered by many to offer the best airline amenity kit. Furthermore, Qatar confirmed each kit includes a 34 Boulevard Saint Germain’ Eau de Toilette or ‘Eau Rose’ Eau de Toilette. Significantly, Qatar Airways highlighted parts of the kits are made from vegan leather, and the eyeshades and socks are recycled polyethylene terephthalate plastic. Flying Business Class is purely aspirational for most, a lifetime experience for some, and a must for a select few. I previously published a top 10 list of the world’s best airlines for longhaul Business Class . Besides  gourmet food , a flatbed, more attentive service, and access to an airport lounge , Business Class passengers will also receive an upgraded amenity kit as compared to travelers in Economy (‘cattle’) Class. Here’s my selection of the 10 best Business Class amenity kits in the skies. Some of these kits are real collector items, and you’ll want to take them home after your flight!

10. KLM ROYAL DUTCH AIRLINE

KLM Royal Dutch Airline’s Business Class amenity kits have been created by Jan Taminiau, one the most successful fashion designers from the Netherlands. There are six unique comfort bags in 12 different colors, and a new design is added every year. These comfort bags, which come in the shape of a clutch bag and a wallet, are designed to be used during the flight and afterwards, as you may keep them as a small handbag or pass them on as a gift to a loved one or a friend. The contents of the bags are basic and include regular essentials for longhaul travel, like eye mask, ear plugs, comb, toothbrush, toothpaste, and skin care products (Rituals lip balm & face moisturizer). As well as an amenity bag, Business Class passengers also receive one of KLM’s collectible Delft Blue Houses, which are filled with Dutch gin, also known as jenever.

9. ALL NIPPON AIRWAYS

One of Japan’s two major airlines, All Nippon Airways (ANA) is known for its refined in-flight service, and its Business Class amenity kits are just another reason why. Passengers receive an amenity pouch by Globe-Trotter, a British luxury brand with over 120 years of history. ANA partnered for the creation of the kits’ content with the renowned L’OCCITANE brand, a leading manufacturer and retailer of premium products originating from the Provence in southern France (with a focus on wellness and natural beauty). The ANA Business Class amenity kit contains several products from L’OCCITANE including L’OCCITANE Fabulous Serum and L’OCCITANE Ultra-Rich Lip Balm Stick, in addition to a toothbrush and toothpaste, eye mask, earplugs, tissues and cotton pads.

Finnair’s longstanding partnership with Finnish design house Marimekko is reflected in its Business Class amenity kits, which feature Maija Isola’s iconic designs from the 1960s. The four designs – Rautasänky, Joonas, Jenkka, and Pieni melooni – are available two at a time and are changed every six months. The colors complement the new blue-on-blue sleep textiles with Isola’s Kaivo pattern. Each amenity kit includes almond-coconut lip cream and a chamomile-lavender facial hydrator from L:A Bruket, an eye mask with soft-touch fabric, ear plugs, and a toothbrush. Sustainability is an important part of the amenity kit renewal: the toothbrush is made from bio-plastic containing cornstarch, plastic wrappings for the earplugs have been replaced with wax paper, and each amenity kit comes wrapped in a cardboard band instead of plastic.

7. SINGAPORE AIRLINES

Singapore Airlines is known for having one of the world’s best Business Class products, but historically the airline didn’t offer amenity kits. Instead, Singapore Airlines chose to stock its lavatories with essentials such as combs and dental kits. In 2020 that all changed when the carrier introduced Business Class amenity kits ‘on request’ (but it’s a request worth making). The Business Class kit was developed in collaboration with Penhaligon, a brand which enjoys a robust reputation as one of England’s most iconic perfumeries. The amenity kit comes as a green folio-style bag featuring a signature perfume bottle stopper shaped zip pull. Inside the kit are a trio of unisex products – hand lotion, lip balm and a facial mist spray – from Penhaligon’s oaky-green Quercus range, which leads with citrus and basil underpinned by notes of jasmine, cardamom, lily and amber.

6. CHINA AIRLINES

China Airlines – the oldest airline in Taiwan – is collaborating with The North Face outdoor brand to inject the elements of youth, sports and fashion into its elegant Business Class cabins. The multi-function travel pouch incorporates flying elements such as a zipper key ring with ribbons and a carry loop for convenient stowage. The kit is loaded with great content. The Norwegian skin care brand “ SPREKENHUS ” was chosen to supply passengers with environmentally sustainable and high-performance products including hand cream, lip balm, and hand sanitizer. Other supplies include an oral hygiene kit, eye mask, ear plugs, and compact folding hairbrush. Eco-friendly materials were given precedence in everything from the packaging to the contents to encourage travelers to join in protecting the environment.

In celebration of its Centenary year in 2000, Qantas released a line of bags inspired by inflight designs from the 1960s to the present day. For example, one bag is influenced by the black pilot uniforms of the 1960s, featuring a debossed logo in gold which depicts the wings of the time. Each bag is the airline’s most sustainable to date and contains a a dental kit featuring a bamboo toothbrush and White Glo toothpaste packaged in a recycled sleeve, terry cotton and jersey eyeshade, socks made from 30% bamboo with a polyester blend, earplugs packaged in recycled paper, and Australian botanical wellness set including Li-Tya lip balm, face cream and hand cream packaged in recycled craft paper. Also, Qantas and Tourism Western Australia have collaborated with Western Australian Wongi artist Kevin Wilson to display his artwork on a limited series of Qantas amenity kits featuring some of the region’s most stunning locations.

4. QATAR AIRWAYS

Qatar Airways’ amenity kits have been created in collaboration with Iconic French perfumer, Diptyque. The new range consists of Diptyque branded bags as well as gift boxes featuring Diptyque’s signature oval branding, customised for male and female passengers. Each Qatar Airways amenity kit and gift box provides specially selected Diptyque products including nourishing Lip Balm (enriched with roses and violets to soothe and soften the lips), fresh body lotion (infused with the scent of orange blossoms, to refresh sleepy skin for all skin types), essential face cream (nourishing and replenishing, with prickly pear extract to boost radiance) and Diptyque fragrance (‘Eau Rose’ eau de toilette with an infusion of the finest damascena and centifolia roses, or the brand’s signature ‘34 Boulevard Saint Germain’ eau de toilette with notes of amber, patchouli, cinnamon and rose).

3. TURKISH AIRLINES

Raising its privileged travel concept even higher, Turkish Airlines is offering its Business Class passengers exclusive amenity kits provided by Ferragamo. Ferragamo is a century-year-old Italian luxury brand renowned for its leather goods and pioneering footwear. The chic and functional design of the bags, available in different colors throughout the year, makes them attractive for use even after the journey. In line with Turkish Airlines’ sustainability roadmap, luxury soft socks, first-class eye masks, and earplugs found in the travel set are made from recycled plastic, the toothbrush is made from wheat straw. Also, the paper brochures within the set are printed on papers certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). The kit also includes skincare products so travelers can arrive at their destinations refreshed and leave the plane’s dry air far behind.

TURKISH AIRLINES BUSINESS CLASS AMENITY KIT

Taiwan-based carrier EVA Air also teamed up with Italian luxury brand Ferragamo to create the amenity kits for its Business Class passengers on long-haul flights. The hard-case amenity kits in classically elegant black are available to all Business Class passengers, departing from Taiwan’s Taoyuan International Airport on long-haul flights. Contents include a color-coordinated eye mask, cozy socks, a hairbrush, a microfiber cloth for cleaning glasses and screens on personal devices, earplugs, a toothbrush and toothpaste and skincare essentials. Returning to Taipei on these flights, EVA Air is providing Ferragamo soft-bag amenity kits in an eye-catching design, blending Taiwan’s aboriginal rhombus totems with stylish western cultural elements. The soft-sided bags were created to acquaint EVA’s passengers from around the globe with Taiwan’s art and culture.

Top 10 best airlines for longhaul First Class

Great photos of the kits . Thanks

Sorry, but I disagree. Putting Emirates as number one is just pathetic. They have a very inconsistent product and only offered kits on their overnight flights. You should at least put Delta on it, with TUMI cases their kit makes for a nice travel companion.

Glad to see BAs pathetic offerings weren’t here. The BA amenities bag, even for an overnight flight go straight into the bin. World class airline – not in my books

Etihad Aqua di Parma is the best 🙂

I also vote for Delta as their Tumi brand kits are very chic to carry after the flight.

Very interesting and helpful information ! Awesome thanks dear The Great Expert !

My experience of Emirates, when taking my wife on a luxury holiday from the UK to Malaysia and back, was ruined for ever when they had no food on board for me in Business Class for any of my return flights. They then managed to add insult to injury by respondent my complaint and advising me that I should have taken my own food with me as they only try to provide food but don’t promise this.

For a full homeward journey of over 17 hours and having no food is hard going. Needless to say I don’t intend to fly with Emirates ever again. I am sure that my money will spend quite as easily with other competitor airlines who may value my patronage more than Emirates did.

I have lots of different business kits over the past couple of years Cathay Pacific, Qatar Airlines etc. They all seem the same, but what always stands out was the “Lip Balm” on Turkish Airlines, non greasy cream in a perfect applicator.

Eva airlines no longer gives ferregamo cases. They give Kipling and furla kits.
