Travel vlogs are a really cool way for you to share your experiences with viewers in a creative and dynamic way. When making your vlog, focus on things you’re passionate about, whether that’s the food, culture, or activities you get to do. Take lots of videos so that you can edit and compile them into a 3-5 minute vlog that highlights your favorite moments. You’ll be glad to have these visual keepsakes to remind you of your travels!

Creating Captivating Content

Step 1 Focus each travel vlog on a location or activity.

  • For example, if you’re super into regional food, use your vlog to highlight the different places you ate at and foods you enjoyed.
  • Keep in mind that you can create multiple vlogs for a single trip! For example, a trip you took to Mexico could produce separate vlogs about food, museums, and nightlife.
  • It’s okay if you end up with a vlog that is longer than 5 minutes! It’s a good length to shoot for, but some videos may need to be longer to cover everything adequately.

Step 2 Record things that are genuinely interesting to you.

  • If you’d rather browse used bookstores rather than take long hikes, then do that! There is an audience for almost every interest.
  • Vlogs are great because they can give others a snapshot into a different culture and place. If you’re following your instincts on your travel adventures, chances are you’ll create a vlog that others will find interesting, too.

Step 3 Include yourself talking about your experiences in your vlog.

  • Use a selfie stick or something similar to record yourself while you’re walking around. That way, viewers can see your expressions and the background of your location.

Tip: If you’re a little camera shy, pretend that you’re sending these videos to your best friend. You’ll smile more and feel more like yourself, which will create better content.

Step 4 Interact with the people you meet and include them in your vlog.

  • For example, you could say something like, “I’m recording a video for my viewers, would you mind if I asked you a question? Where would you recommend as the best place in the city to get fresh seafood?”
  • Not only does this create great content, but it’s also a cool way for you to immerse yourself more in your experience.

Step 5 Film short clips of things you see to add color and variety to the vlog.

  • Think about creating your vlog in a similar format to a movie trailer. You want to highlight different moments rather than a continuous stream.

Step 6 Try to keep your camera steady so the video doesn’t jerk or shake.

  • Try using a handheld stabilizer to produce stead, high-quality shots.
  • You could also look into stabilizing apps that modify your videos to reduce shakiness.

Step 7 Eliminate as much background noise as you can.

  • A wind muff is a small fur cover that goes over your camera’s microphone. It reduces the background noise but lets other audio, like your voice, through.

Tip: Test the audio before recording a longer video so you don’t end up with material you can’t use. Record yourself speaking for a few seconds and then play the video back to see if you can hear yourself talking.

Putting Together Your Video

Step 1 Use video-editing software...

  • Here are a few free options for well-reviewed video-editing software programs: HitFilm Express, iMovie (for Apple products only), VideoPad (some features do cost money), DaVinci Resolve 15, and VSDC (for Windows products only, the basic version is free).

Step 2 Start your vlog with a shot of the location and an introduction.

  • Imagine that you’re taking your viewers on the journey with you. Think about what information they need upfront to keep their interest.
  • For example, if you’re taking a tour of different wineries, start your vlog with a short video of you in front of a vineyard talking about what you’re about to do.

Step 3 Arrange your content so there is a beginning, middle, and end.

  • For example, if you’re going on a hike you could start at the beginning with a shot of the entry point, add some content about things you see along the way, and finish with the beautiful view at the end.
  • Chances are, you’re working with a couple of dozen short videos that you recorded on your travels. They should be in chronological order on your phone or camera already, so simply transfer them to your video-editing software and select the ones you want to use.

Step 4 Add or delete content so you’re left with a 3-5 minute vlog.

  • If the video is of a stunning view, keep about 3-4 seconds of it.
  • Conversations with others should be about 10 seconds long.
  • Videos of you talking should be about 15 seconds at a time, if not shorter.
  • Shots of you walking or looking at things should be 3-7 seconds long.
  • In the end, you have complete control over what you decide to do with your vlog! If you feel like a certain part warrants more time, go for it.

Step 5 Delete dead space and transitions where nothing is happening.

  • Even in sections where you’re talking, you may want to edit and splice your videos so that there aren’t long pauses.

Step 6 Add music to your video that complements the feel of your vlog.

  • For free music for your vlog, check out Soundcloud, the YouTube audio library, Free Music Archive, and Free sound .

Step 7 Review your vlog several times before publishing it.

  • You could even have a trusted friend watch the video and give you feedback about its pacing and sequencing.

Tip: Take 24 hours away from your vlog and then watch it one more time with fresh eyes. You may notice dead space that could be cut out or opportunities for more content that you thought you didn’t have space for.

Expert Q&A

How the best travel vloggers were chosen:

Like all lists, people will wonder why they’re not on it. I’m positive I missed some good ones, but this is very loose criteria I’d be using if I were hired to cast, produce or pitch a TV show. Creators did not need to meet all criteria, but most. – Programming: Weekly dedication, quality, storytelling & individual style execution – Audience: Niche, loyalty, & YouTube friendly – Blog worthy and/or binge worthy – Does it bring a new spin to the term “travel video” or “travel show” – Channel Personality/Talent: brand recognition, hosting & entertainment value

That’s a subjective question. If you go by subscribers it is Devon Supertramp or Fun for Louis on this list. Drew Binskey is definitely the most successful travel vlogger out there right now.

Mark Weins t ops the list as the best food travel vlogger. He takes you on a culinary journey around the world.

Travel vlogs resonate with aspiring adventurers in ways that written content can't. They let the audience identify and connect with travel vloggers, and explore and experience new and exotic places with them.

Are you looking to get started with travel vlogging? We put together a comprehensive beginner's guide on how to start your journey.

Read on to learn about what travel vlogging really is, how to actually get started and find useful tips and tricks on growing your audience. We'll even throw in some travel vlog ideas for beginners!

Not what you were looking for? Explore several other aspects of filmmaking .

Travel vlogging definition

Let's start with the basics! What really is travel vlogging?

Travel vlogs are personal, realistic videos that feature the vlogger exploring new areas or locations. These vlogs or video blogs are then uploaded on video-sharing pages like YouTube, where a wide range of audiences can watch them.

As one of the most consumed video content on the internet, travel videos have a great audience who are ready to live vicariously through their favorite travel vloggers.

These vlogs can also provide helpful travel tips on what places to visit, where to eat and where to stay at.

How to get started with travel vlogging

If the wanderlust has taken over and you're ready to dive in, here's the steps to get started:

1. Set up your channel

First things first, you need to decide where you'll share your travel videos with your audience. YouTube and Vimeo are by far the most popular platforms for sharing video content, with YouTube alone having 122 million active users every day.

Head over to the platform of your choice and create a channel with your own name, a stage name, or something entirely customized.

Take good time to think about how you want to portray yourself, as this is the first step of your online branding journey!

Fill out your channel with a profile picture, contact info and description, and tie it to the rest of your public social media. Personalizing your channel now will give viewers a better chance to connect to you!

2. Get the right equipment

examples of travel vlogs

What are the travel vlog essentials to pack? Well, depends on your needs of course!

One thing to always keep in mind is portability. If you pack lightly or go out for a day of exploration, you don't want to be weighed down by a full camera bag with all the extra accessories.

A front-facing camera is great for vlogging too, and a wide enough focal length is a must!

Instead, you need to find what's your best travel vlog camera and top 3 lenses. Bring along a small, durable mic and maybe a gimbal, and you'll have all you need.

For lightweight and durable cameras, you can't really go wrong with a mirrorless . They're very versatile and come with a range of interchangeable lenses, where you can definitely find your favorites! Add a gimbal to minimize camera shake, which can make or break your footage.

If you're very active and always on the go, maybe an action cam or a 360 camera could come in handy too! They fit in your pocket so you can pull them out as needed.

While every vlogger has their own preferences, the Sony ZV-1 is a compact made specifically with beginners in mind. The Sony a6600 is excellent in low-light and comes with great in-body image stabilization. The Fujifilm X-S10 is a bit more advanced but it's great value for its price and it handles great. If you want to learn more about the best vlogging cameras , read on. For those planning international travel vlogs, services like VisaFly can be invaluable in navigating visa requirements and travel documentation efficiently.

3. Create your first travel vlog

It's time! Hop on a plane, train or boat and pack your equipment.

It might make sense for you to define a story arc before you actually start filming. Knowing what events or locations will take the main stage of your vlog can help set the pace and know how much to record. But if you're the type to just go with the flow, that can work as well!

Get filming and put yourself out there. A vlog is meant to be personal. If you want the audience to connect with you, be friendly and open while staying authentic to yourself.

Editing your video is where you'll make sure to give your vlog a consistent flow. You don't need to be an expert to get started, but it might be worth checking out some travel vlog editing courses, like these ones on Skillshare.

Add some upbeat copyright-free music to keep up the energy through the travel adventures and set the right tone. Make sure you include brand promos, like your logo and end with a Call To Action, such as "Please like and subscribe!" It's simple, yet effective.

5. Publish and promote

Over time, as you build up a following, it definitely makes sense to cross-promote new travel videos on all your social media!

You can also reach new viewers by collaborating with other creators while building a network and having fun! Interacting with your fans in the comments and addressing them directly will also

Create thematic playlists that viewers can binge before deciding to subscribe! Grouping all videos from your South Asian road trip makes logical sense and encourages viewers to keep watching.

Growing your audience 101

examples of travel vlogs

If you wanna be the next Louis Cole or Matthew Karsten, you'll have to build and grow an engaged audience. Having passion and wanderlust is a necessary first step, but the following tips will help you get better and enter the ranks of polished, professional travel vloggers.

Consistency

You might find it boring to hear this over and over again, but consistency is really a must if you want to make it as a content creator.

Especially in the beginning, you can expect no or marginal gains. You have to keep at it every day to let more and more people discover your channel. Creating genuinely good content will pay off in the long run. If the rise to fame would be easy, a lot more people would be doing it.

Keep learning

The beauty of technology and various online platforms is that anyone can pick up a camera and start vlogging. But make no mistake, there's always more to learn!

With time and experience, you'll find your own vlogging style, get better at recording and editing, and learn what sort of promotion works best for you.

Never be afraid to do your research about your destination either. As a well-informed traveler you won't miss out on any local staples and you're a lot less likely to commit cultural faux pas as well.

Set an upload schedule

... and commit to it! Like in everyday life, no one likes to be let down when promises were made. Aim to upload vlogs 2-3x a week or even daily for rapid growth.

Make sure you don't disappoint your subscribers by disappearing without a warning - but don't be afraid to take a break when you need to either. Clear communication goes a long way.

Shot variety

If you've done your research and scoped out the competition, you'll find that most successful vloggers include more than a few different kinds of shots in their videos.

Keep your audience entertained! Open with a good establishing shot , have proper close-ups of mouthwatering food or stunning decoration or throw in a drone wide shot to show off the sun setting over the cliffs.

Use movement and a range of angles to bring some spice and variety. If you want to learn more, check out our comprehensive camera angles 101 .

Keep your videos short

Or at least don't drag them out to be longer than they need to be. Short and sweet is the way to go, especially if you consider the average adult's attention span.

If you have entertaining content to fill out 20 minutes, great for you! Rules are meant to be broken. However, as a general guideline always ask yourself: would viewers spend the time to watch my whole video, or are there parts I could cut shorter?

Travel vlog types

examples of travel vlogs

While it's not necessary to pigeonhole yourself into just one thing, it helps a lot with the narrative thread if you pick a type of travel vlogging to focus on. This will also make it clear for your subscribers what to expect, and in return, they'll likely stay with you on your travel adventures.

Depending on your trip, you might want to focus on solo, family travel or couple travel vlogs. You can even involve the locals! Whether you focus on down-to-earth road trips, travel tips or culinary gems, lean into your style and make it your own. It will help you stand out in the vast content type options.

Your tone of voice can also vary depending on your style. Do you want to be entertaining, informational or educational? Find your brand and stick to it to build a loyal following.

Best travel vloggers

If you're in need of inspiration, learning from the best travel vloggers on YouTube seems like a great idea!

You can't go wrong starting with creators like Fun for Louis , Ben Brown or Fearless & Far .

Best Travel Vloggers and YouTubers to Follow in 2024

Best Travel Vloggers and YouTubers to Follow in 2024

As a travel vlogger myself, I may be biased but I think that travel vloggers provide a captivating insight into the world of travel and adventure. You can explore destinations from the comfort of your sofa and get endlessly inspired for your next trips.

The visual storytelling that video content allows for is perfect for travel. I think it’s an amazing way to discover new and unique perspectives on travel.

Travel videos resonate with aspiring adventurers in a way that can be difficult with written content.

Plus, it’s a great way of getting to know a creator and the face behind a travel blog . I love that travel vlogs provide a more personal approach that combines an informative experience with wonderful creativity.

To help you discover the best travel content out there, I have compiled a list of the top travel vloggers and YouTubers for the most engaging travel video content.

I’ve included sections on solo female travellers, family travel vloggers, British travel vloggers, and travel couples.

From personality-led travel vlogs to stunning cinematic masterpieces, here is my pick of the best travel vloggers and YouTubers to follow in 2024.

Author Bio: Jessie Moore

Jessie Moore is a luxury travel expert with years of experience travelling the world to find the best destinations, hotels and adventures.

Top travel vloggers

Fearless and far.

Mike Corey is the man behind adventure travel vlog, Fearless and Far . I love that he journeys to weird and wonderful destinations, which are far away from the mainstream.

It is a wonderfully creative vlog that encourages people to face their fears to travel the world.

Mike approaches travel and life as an extreme sport. The results are wild, unique, and downright crazy travel experiences. His travel vlogs are a rollercoaster of adventure and adrenaline-fuelled travel.

Drew Binsky

Drew Binsky is an American travel vlogger and Youtube documentary maker. His travel vlog has a heavy focus on discovering and celebrating the various cultures across the world.

Telling unique stories of the communities and culture behind every location, he brings his viewers daily travel videos.

In a refreshing approach to travel vlogging, Drew puts a spotlight on sociopolitical issues, including human rights, gay and transgender acceptance, and challenging racial and religious stereotypes.

He wants to bust the myth that the world is unsafe, inspiring other people to travel and widen their perspective of the world; which I think is an admirable goal.

As if that wasn’t enough, Drew often features amazing special guests on his channel too.

Nadine Sykora is a seasoned globetrotter who brings an impossibly fun and positive energy to her travel content.

I think her energy is genuinely infectious, adding an optimistic and lively dimension to travel and adventure.

It’s this approach that elevates her storytelling, inspiring young people to travel. Her videos are helpful and informative, from packing guides to handy travel hacks.

Hey Nadine is therefore a great resource for aspiring young adventurers.

Sam Kolder is a Canadian adventurer and creator of exceptional travel videos. As a seriously talented travel filmmaker, Kolder’s videos are nothing short of cinematic masterpieces.

Kold is a channel for high quality travel content, as well as some educational videos for aspiring filmmakers.

In his travel videos, you’ll discover engaging storytelling and the best transitions you’ve ever seen. Kolder is also known for his incredible drone shots and a habit for backflipping off tall structures.

Videos are few and far between but, trust me, they are always worth the wait. My favourite travel video of all time is Kold’s Hey Tim :

Lost LeBlanc

Christian LeBlanc is another Canadian adventurer. His unwavering passion for travel shines through his well executed videos on his YouTube channel, Lost LeBlanc .

He has created a dedicated community of like-minded travellers as a result. I love that LeBlanc encourages his viewers to step out of their comfort zones in the pursuit of adventure and global discovery.

He offers a lot of resources to other aspiring travel filmmakers and photographers, teaching both the creative and business side of the travel vlogging sphere.

Formerly known as Migrationology, Mark Wien’s travel vlog is one for the foodies. He believes that food is the reason you should travel and believe me when I say that his dribble-worthy videos strongly support this claim!

His content combines incredible food discoveries with highly watchable travel experiences.

Mark is based in Thailand with his wife, but he frequently travels all over the world trying amazing food from various different countries and cultures.

He is constantly on the hunt for local delicacies and mouth-watering meals.

Phil Good Travel

In the Phil Good Travel vlog , Phil Calvert travels across Europe sprinkling positivity everywhere he goes. His aim is to promote solidarity between all backgrounds, races, and upbringings.

Given that black travellers are frequently the minority in Europe, Phil has set out to create a community of black travellers in this part of the world.

I love that he brings open-mindedness and optimism to his travel videos, and his enthusiasm is truly infectious.

Sorelle Amore

Sorelle is a quirky bundle of energy with a huge and infectious smile.

Her YouTube channel offers more than just travel, whether it’s home updates or ‘Advanced Selfie’ photography tips. In short, she wants to inspire confidence and creativity.

Her videos feel very authentic, with none of the superficial or forced feel that you sometimes get with other vloggers. Sorelle is constantly striving to be a better human, and tries to inspire others to do the same.

She recently moved to Iceland, so if you love Iceland content (who doesn’t!) then you’ll love some of her latest videos.

Solo female travel vloggers

Brooke saward.

A travel vlogger from Tasmania, Brooke Saward aims to inspire young people to travel more, and to feel more confident travelling solo.

Brooke documents her travels on her YouTube channel in a way that feels authentic and accessible. A popular blogger, vlogger, author, and adventurer.

Eva zu Beck

Eva zu Beck is an adventure traveller and solo female explorer. On her YouTube channel Eva explores less visited destinations which are not commonly seen in mainstream travel media.

Whether it’s visiting Aleppo and Damascus in Syria, hiking the K2 base camp in Pakistan, or trekking alone through Mongolia.

Eva aims to tell the stories of those people, communities, and cultures that you don’t normally see or have access to. She encourages people to push themselves out of their comfort zones.

A truly inspiring solo female traveller and one of my personal favourites.

I Am Aileen

Aileen Adalid is a travel vlogger from the Philippines. She did what many of us dream of doing: she quit her corporate job at 21 to travel the world.

Aileen shows her viewers how to travel the world as a digital nomad, inspiring her community of travel dreamers to do the same.

On her channel, I Am Aileen , you’ll find beautiful travel videos which are packed full of tips and tricks. I love that she also shows you how to live a sustainable travel lifestyle.

Jennelle Eliana

Known as the woman who lives in a van with her pet snake, Jennelle Eliana’s YouTube channel exploded within a matter of weeks. Her travel vlog has a light-hearted feel with a strong focus on sustainability.

All her videos are shot and edited on her iPhone. I think hte lower production values of her videos provide a more authentic portrayal of van life.

She addresses the less glamorous sides of travel and I love that it doesn’t feel as curated or manufactured.

Oneika the Traveller

A thrill-seeker and travel junkie, Oneika Raymond is dedicated to inspiring people of colour to travel the world and live outside of their comfort zone. She inspires through education and engaging storytelling.

Oneika is not just a successful travel vlogger. She is also an award-winning writer, journalist, and keynote speaker – having spoken at the Women in Travel Summit and Women’s Travel Fest.

Pocket Wanderings

Okay this is a shameless self-promotion but it would be remiss of me not to include my own YouTube channel in this list!

I’m still relatively new to travel blogging but I’m hoping to grow my YouTube community moving forwards. On my channel you’ll find solo travel tips, luxury travel inspiration and hotel reviews.

Family travel vloggers

The bucket list family.

The Gee family started out when they sold everything and left home to travel around the world to become Family Travel Journalists.

The Bucket List Family travel vlog documents their many adventures and travels across the world.

They describe themselves as “just your ‘average’ family”, playing on the fact that most people wouldn’t consider their adventure-fuelled family life to be ‘average’ at all.

I’m sure that the Gee family will certainly make you question whether settling down is the best way to approach family life!

Hopscotch the Globe

Hopscotch the Globe is run by travel couple, Kristen and Siya. Until recently, they would have fallen into the travel couple section – but now they have a daughter and a dog, they are fully fledged family adventurers.

Their aim is to inspire couples and families to travel more. The couple share travel tips, destination guides, food adventures, and tiny home living on their channel.

I find their videos to be funny, entertaining, and genuinely helpful.

Wolter’s World

The Wolter’s World channel is a great destination for honest travel advice. It comprises a family of four who have lived, studied, worked, and travelled across the world.

Wolter addresses the best and the worst parts of travelling to help his viewers be better prepared.

In sharing honest perspectives, Wolter provides helpful insights into the culture and people of the places he visits.

He has a preference for showing this more realistic side of travel – rather than fancy drone shots and backflips of cliffs. There are new videos every Wednesday and Saturday.

The Makepeace family consists of Caz, Craig, Kalyra, and Savannah. They are on a mission to prove that travel does not have to stop after children.

They have travelled the world nomadically since 1997, so trust me when I say that these guys really know what they’re talking about.

Having travelled solo, as a couple, as expats, as digital nomads, in an RV, and as a family, they bring multiple viewpoints to the travel experience.

Their videos help fellow travel lovers unplug from the chaos, travel more, and create better memories – all with kids in tow.

British travel vloggers

Fun for louis.

Louis Cole is a popular British travel vlogger, recognised by his signature dreadlocks.

He’s also partial to a backflip in wonderful and remote locations. The Fun For Louis channel brings upbeat and charismatic video content.

Louis is a non-stop adventurer, creating daily vlogs – so there is a lot of content to get stuck into. You’ll find a whole variety of creative content and fun adventures on Louis’ travel vlog.

It’s exciting, entertaining, and engaging.

Mr Ben Brown

A talented photographer and filmmaker, Ben Brown documents his travels to far-flung destinations. As a result of his engaging content, Ben has achieved wide acclaim for his YouTube content.

Ben is also a professional athlete, as a two-time world champion kayaker. He is energetic and optimistic, which I think shines through his travel content.

Psycho Traveller

Birmingham-born Aly is a digital nomad who has built an online community of fellow travel lovers. The ‘psycho part’ of Psycho Traveller comes from the fact that Aly is a Psychology graduate.

I love that Aly provides raw, honest commentary in her content, as well as helpful tips and tricks. She aims to inspire everyone – of all ages and backgrounds – to live the life they want to live.

She is also a best-selling author and public speaker.

Couple travel vloggers

The planet d.

An endearing adventure couple, Dave and Deb live by the motto ‘adventure is for everyone’. They are a refreshing change from the ‘perfect’ travel couples you see plastered all over Instagram.

The aim of Planet D is to inspire everyone to seek adventure – you don’t have to be young, fit and rich to travel.

Their videos provide valuable information and unique experiences for anyone looking to live a more adventure-fuelled life.

Sailing La Vagabonde

Sailing La Vagabonde is run by Australian couple Riley Whitelum and Elayna Carausu. It all started with a dream of circumnavigating the globe by sailboat – with no previous sailing experience!

Riley and Elayna share video content around their seafaring experiences, including useful information for those looking to start sailing.

They inspire others to live an alternative lifestyle and also hope to raise ocean awareness. Now they have a baby in tow, so there’s a new and exciting dimension to their travels!

Kara and Nate

Kara and Nate are high school sweethearts who have been travelling the world full-time for five years. They started with a goal of travelling to 100 countries – which they have since achieved and surpassed!

The travel couple embark on all kinds of adventures – from hiking Everest Base Camp to taking the Trans-Siberian Railway.

You can also find a number of resources on travel hacking, YouTube, and entrepreneurship on their blog.

The Endless Adventure

Eric and Allison embody the classic story of leaving steady jobs to pursue a life of travel as digital nomads.

Their YouTube channel, The Endless Adventure , offers a tantalising combination of travel, food, and adventure – all of the best things in life!

I think this is a great channel for travel foodies, as they share some of the most mouth-watering food from around the world.

I have no doubt that Eric and Allison will inspire you to hit the road and pursue a life of adventure.

Flying the Nest

Stephen & Jess are an Australian couple with a passion for adventure. You’ll find a range of travel content on Flying the Nest , from daily life and food discoveries to volunteering and worldly travels.

The couple share a diverse range of travel experiences, from hiking Machu Picchu to overwater bungalows in the Maldives.

Their videos offer a unique historical insight and engaging video content. Plus, they now have a new baby to join their adventures.

I couldn’t possibly fit all of the amazing travel vloggers out there into this list. But these are some of my personal favourites and a great place to start if you’re feeling overwhelmed with all the travel content on YouTube.

As mentioned above, I do have my own YouTube channel ? It’s only in the early stages I’m already in the process of expanding it and any new subscribers honestly means the world.

There are various ways to approach your content creation strategy, and the fun part is: none of them are wrong. As long as you have the passion for pouring your adventures into vlogs, you are already on a great start.

But what about the process to captivate viewers and get them coming back to you again and again? Well, that’s what we are about to tell you!

You can follow the trending topics to cover in your next video. Use  Google Trends  to find out what people are searching in your area. And convert that search result into a dashing vlog. Trends tend to make content viral, after all.

Or you can simply create a series of short videos (20-30 seconds) with your narrative and post them on every social media you can use. The world is your oyster.

But what works most is put into a list of 12 Tips that you can use right away and become the next prominent vlogger of 2021!

1. Always use the right and consistent tone

three friends walking down a train station

The first step in making an engaging vlog is to actually engage with your viewers. Interact with them. It is essential to keep the right tone in your videos. Be friendly and casual. While recording yourself, be energetic and earnest.

Act like you’re talking with a friend. And not like you’re on an interview with a stranger. People respect enthusiasm and passion.

There are generally three formats of vlogs you can follow. Entertaining, Informational, and Educational.

And whichever format you choose, make sure you stick to it. At least unless you have a large fanbase. When you follow a particular style, it becomes a part of your brand. And it’s always a good idea to stay honest with your brand. It not only builds authenticity but brings in loyal followership as well.

Entertaining vlogs are generally easygoing and fun to watch. These videos typically contain an “adrenaline” element to their videos and often do not have anything serious. Many vloggers who feature hiking, camping, and sports in their videos follow this format. The videos are fast, often humorous, and easy to watch.

Informational vlogs are made of news, facts, and knowledge. If you want to create calm and soothing vlogs with your experiences stitched together in the form of bits and pieces of information, this format might fit your style.

The third type of vlogs is generally educational videos. Tutorials, how-to guides, and reviews fit into this style. Vloggers who want to help fellow adventurers to have a better experience in their travels usually make this format. There is no right or wrong choice when it comes to vlog format. Just follow your heart and decide which style of vlogging would take you up towards mount success.

2. Keep your videos concise and crisp

woman watching a video on the phone in bed

One of the biggest reasons some vloggers get more followers than others is their ability to avoid boring elements in their videos. And one of the biggest culprits that can make your video boring is its length. No one is going to watch a 10 minutes long video from a newbie travel vlogger.

Try to keep your videos under 3 minutes. Anything more than that might make viewers lose interest. While traveling, shoot a lot of clips no longer than 3-10 seconds. It’s easier to edit small clips into a minute compilation and necessary to capture viewers. Keep in mind, a crisp and short video can take you long ways. Start with less.

Take  Mark Harrison  as an example. He started off his YouTube channel with one-minute videos. Now he is a popular travel vlogger who posts videos of 15-minute length. Before a loyal fanbase, you need followership.

What distinguishes a travel vlog from regular travel videos is its ability to carry the first-person narrative towards the adventure your viewers are seeking.

A good vlog holds your personality and perspective. It gives the personal touch which a regular travel video cannot deliver.

Unlike travel videos, travel vlogs focus on your temperament. Make a fantastic experience for your viewers by including many first-person point-of-view (POV) shots in your adventure.

Lost LeBlanc  creates travel vlogs and shares his adventures to the world from his eyes (or a GoPro Hero action camera tied to his chest).

People love POV videos because it makes them feel the adrenaline of jumping in the air while being seated at the comfort of their sofas.

Although, never be afraid to show more of you. Shooting POV is more straightforward than speaking into the camera. Especially in a public place where stares can make you uncomfortable. Always be confident and sincere in your task at hand. A smile and a nod help a long way. While facing the camera, imagine you are talking to a friend. It will help along the process of getting familiar with the camera.

4. Select your niche but don’t fear to experiment

taking pictures of a small dog on a park bench

We have talked to many vloggers, and most of them had the same answer when we asked, “which was your biggest mistake when starting vlogging.”    It was not sticking to your target audience.

If you do not have a particular niche or theme for your videos, you might lose viewers fast!

When someone follows you for your surfing videos, they might find it odd to see street food videos from you. It’s okay to release an out-of-context video once in a while. But consistently changing niches can hurt your growth as a vlogger.

Many vloggers found success by not following the niche-rule, but that’s a risk you shall not take when beginning your journey. Once you have a decent following, you can start producing vlogs in other genres but in a different channel or medium. That way, not only you safeguard your fanbase, but you can also generate another stream of revenue with less effort.

You can start writing all the niches and choose one that appeals most to you.

You can be a foodie, hiker, biker, cruiser, streets explorer, and what not!

5. Be a storyteller

filming a man on a running trail at a mountain range

“There’s always room for a story that can transport people to another place.” - J.K. Rowling.

If your videos lack a story, then it’s plain and meaningless. Storytelling is the art of revealing meaning without having to define something.

You are wandering in a jungle, connect viewers with the crisp sound of fallen leaves. Let them smell the moist soil from the drops of rain that traversed through the trees. Give them the sensation of cold wind drifting through the woods.

Let viewers feel what you feel while walking through the forest. If your viewers find it refreshing and feel emotionally connected to you, they become your regular fan.

If people watching your vlogs can’t connect to you, they will not find any reason to keep watching you.

6. Choosing the right music

holding headphones next to sound equipment

You’ve created great shots of nature while you are at it. Now it’s time to go back to your hotel room and rest. You can’t wait to post your vlog and hear the awes and wows of your viewers. After compiling the clips into a stunning video, you put a soundtrack of exorcists in the background and pressed that encouraging share button.

The following day you woke up to find people horrified by the video. All your hard work went through the drain just because you put the wrong background soundtrack.

Music in your vlog can make or break your video.

You can choose not to include any music whatsoever. Many vloggers do it. But it’s always a good idea to put some music that helps with the watching experience.

7. Include other people in your vlogs

taking picture of a friends group that is smiling

When you travel, you find people everywhere. Native to that particular area, or perhaps other travelers like you. Some might approach you. You might approach some. Asking for directions, or maybe a “hello.”

It is fascinating what we might find. Travel guides or Google might not do justice to a particular place you’re visiting or exploring. It’s always a great idea to engage with strangers when you’re away. You can forget about the advice your parents gave to you, to avoid strangers.

Talk with strangers. Or even include them in your vlogs. Interactions can be humorous or informational. Either way, it’s excellent content for your videos.

8. Cross-promote with other vloggers

highfiving a woman after summiting a mountain above clouds

Self-promotion is one of the biggest favor you can do for yourself. After crafting an excellent vlog, you need viewers. You can pay dollars to get sponsored on people’s social media feeds. You can also ask your friends and family to share with their circles. But another and most practical method is to ask other travel vloggers to give a shout-out to you.

Many might not promote you for free, but some might.

There is no harm in asking.

They are already producing videos   for their audience, which you can take advantage of.

You can exchange favors for shout-outs as well. Another method is to comment on other travel vloggers’ videos. Give them an honest review, and let their viewers know that you’re also producing interesting vlogs if they are interested. This way, you can start building your followership step by step.

It’s essential to have excellent video quality for this to work. Otherwise, you might attract some bad publicity.

man sitting and relaxing at a beach in norway in summer

It’s easy to get intimidated by successful vloggers. They have made it into the world as renowned travelers. And the metaphorical road can be harder to travel than the Svalvogavegur road.

But remember that most of them started at point zero. With cheaper gears, almost no viewership, and even shaky confidence. But they learned with each experience and reached where they stand today.

Vlogging is nothing if not satisfying and enjoyable. If you find yourself having fun while doing it, then it’s not worth every second doing it.

10. Cut the fluff out

beauty vlogger filming herself presenting

It is essential to keep your vlog concise and crisp. The final video should not contain anything that doesn’t add value or interest to the vlog.

That being said, never hold back while filming yourself. Sometimes the passion for exploring and talking to your camera makes us rumble a bit. And that’s a good thing. It means we have enthusiasm which is requisite for any vlog to be successful.

We can remove the fluff and cut out the unnecessary shots while editing. The process called “jump cuts” makes vloggers natural on camera and avoids boring the viewers. It balances the pace of the video and makes every second interesting.

During editing, we can also get rid of those annoying “uhm” and “uhs.”

Good editing can shorten the video, kill the dull moments, and make an overall good experience of watching a vlog.

11. Be in a community

group of friends walking near hallgrimskirkja in reykjavik

When you talk to your audience instead of at them, it makes a huge difference. Remember, actual human beings will see your vlogs. It’s essential to engage them verbally. Be in a community, ask people questions, interact with people who follow you.

Everyone loves to feel belonging in a group of like-minded people. Find and interact with vloggers like you. Collaborate with other vloggers in your locality. Interview them and other people who want to be a part of your vlogs and add tremendous value to your stream.

Vlogging is the art of connecting yourself with nature. And being in a community can bring you closer to the very nature itself.

12. Use right gears

photographer taking pictures in jokulsarlon glacier lagoon

Our last tip for you is to utilize proper gear and hardware for your vlogging journey. You can shoot with your mobile phone and AirPods, but it’s better not to compromise your vlog’s quality.

Depending on the type of vlogs you want to produce, it is a good idea to research and invest in reasonably good gears.

Most travel vloggers use a GoPro Hero action camera. It is waterproof, dustproof, and very rugged.

Besides shooting high-quality 4K videos, GoPros are small and easy to carry.

Always carry a DLSR in your bag as well.

holding a small gopro camera on a tripod

A tripod stand can make your vlogs look more professional and stable.

They are not expensive and can act as a selfie-stick too.

A collar mic and a boom mic can add even more substance and makes it easier to edit. The more world you will explore, the more vlogs you will make. It would get easier to understand what fits your needs as you go along.

filming a man talking in front of camera

High storage SD cards and hard-drives can protect you from the frustrations of low-memory errors while shooting at the top of Hvannadalshnukur Peak.

4K quality footage can take up to Gigabytes of your storage. So always carry at least 3-4 Terabytes while traveling.

Before we wrap up this guide, we have an extra golden tip for you to have success and fun as a travel vlogger.

editing a video on a laptop computer

Editing can drain the fun when you’re on the move and plan to produce many vlogs for your viewers. You can edit yourself; many vloggers do that. But having someone at your disposal to edit your vlogs can make your life easier.

Undoubtedly it takes a lot of effort to make vlogs. But it is soul-relishing once you get the hang of it. Exploring and telling your adventures to people. It feels heavenly.

So, now you have it. Use this guide alongside your passion for creating vlogs everyone is waiting for.

Make awesome video with 12 Best Travel vlogging tips

Even you are a new to vlogging, these 12 Best Travel vlogging tips that will help you make an awesome video. Learn how to do a travel vlog with us now!

Are you going on a holiday soon, and want to make a video that will help you remember it? Read on for some helpful travel vlogging  tips that will help you make travel videos you'll want to watch over and over again.

1) Don't film everything

12 Best Travel vlogging tips that will help you make an awesome video

Yes, really. The first travel vlogging tip is you shouldn't film everything you experience on your trip. I understand that sometimes you don't want to miss a single moment. I've been there and done that. When I returned from one of my trips, I had over a hundred clips I didn't really want to use in the end -  clips of some food I ate, a video tour of my accommodation, my plane ride and more.

I'm not saying that those clips are bad. They're nice clips and they capture the moment, but I personally felt that they're not interesting memories that I want to make a vlog of. Also, I spent so time glued to my camera trying to film everything, that I didn't really live in the moment.

So set aside some time to be clear on what sort of video(s) you want to make. This way, you'll save a lot of time, camera battery, and you'll have a better experience travelling overall.

2) Centre your vlogs around an activity or place

2. Even you are a new to vlogging, these 12 Best Travel vlogging tips that will help you make an awesome video.

There's many different directions your video can take. Many people do it chronologically (usually day to day vlogs ). However, I've found that videos that are centred around a place or activity are a lot more interesting than a video that covers whole day.

If you find a place you really enjoyed spending your time in, you should make a video of that. If you found yourself loving a lot of the food a country has to offer, why not make a food review vlog ?  Or if you're travelling to shop, you could do a haul video of everything you bought.

3) Keep your videos short and succinct

3. Even you are a new to vlogging, these 12 Best Travel vlogging tips that will help you make an awesome video. Learn how to do a travel vlog with us now!

The best timing for videos is under three minutes, as many people start to lose interest if the video is longer than that. Also, talking segments should not be longer than 30 seconds. I know 30 seconds doesn't seem like much, but people are impatient on social media and are quick to move on if a video doesn't hold their interest.

It also helps to keep in mind that your end goal is to make a video that is a couple of minutes long. When you remember that, you will naturally take shorter videos that capture the essence of what you're trying to show. Additionally, consider utilizing a free online video editor to streamline the process. This tool can help you efficiently trim and arrange clips, ensuring your final video remains engaging within its desired time frame.

At the end of the trip, you should have a lot of 3-7 second long clips that you compile to make the finished product. It may seem like you have bits and pieces, but you will thank yourself as shorter clips will save you so much time during editing.

4) Don't be afraid to show more of yourself

4. Even you are a new to vlogging, these 12 Best Travel vlogging tips that will help you make an awesome video. Learn how to do a travel vlog with us now!

To be honest with you, I still feel camera shy plenty of times. I know how difficult it can be to get in front of a camera, especially when there's a lot of other people around.

But remember that you're the backbone of your vlog . You should definitely talk to the camera and give your own perspective on your trip.

Something that helps me speak better to the camera is to pretend I'm talking to a really good friend. That always keeps me smiling, and makes me more natural in front of the camera.

  5) Include other people in your vlog

5. Even you are a new to vlogging, these 12 Best Travel vlogging tips that will help you make an awesome video. Learn how to do a travel vlog with us now!

Vlogs always get more interesting when there's other people included. You can include your travel buddies, or some of the local people you've met on your trip.

Pro-tip: Ask them a question .

What most people do is point a camera at their friends, who then wave back and pose at the camera. Try engaging your friends instead, and ask them what they think about the place they're in, or what they liked most about the trip so far. That definitely adds more flavour and personality to your video.

6) Show things from your point of view

6. Even you are a new to vlogging, these 12 Best Travel vlogging tips that will help you make an awesome video. Learn how to do a travel vlog with us now!

The main difference between a travel  vlog and a normal travel video is that a travel  vlog focuses a lot on you and your personality. You can make your vlog even better by adding some video clips taken from your point of view.

6.1 Even you are a new to vlogging, these 12 Best Travel vlogging tips that will help you make an awesome video. Learn how to do a travel vlog with us now!

It is a great way to engage your audience and make them feel like they are there with you.

7) Start your video with an establishing shot

7 Even you are a new to vlogging, these 12 Best Travel vlogging tips that will help you make an awesome video. Learn how to do a travel vlog with us now!

An establishing shot is a video clip that shows the big picture of the place you're in. Often times, people spend so much time taking videos of the things they do and the people they're with, that they forget to take videos which establish where they are.

For example, if you're in Tokyo, a good establishing shot would be a view of the city skyline. Adding such a clip to the beginning of your vlog makes it look a lot more professional and sleek.

8) Keep your video steady, not shaky

8 Even you are a new to vlogging, these 12 Best Travel vlogging tips that will help you make an awesome video. Learn how to do a travel vlog with us now!

Shaky video is something that stops people from watching your video longer. The occasional shake when walking down a path is fine, but a video that that constantly jerky is bound to put people off.

You can reduce shakiness by walking slower and making a conscious effort to keep your camera steady. Alternatively, you could use video stabilisation tools found in video editing software or apps, such as Adobe Premiere Pro or Emulsio . I find that reducing the speed of the video where possible also helps reduce the shakiness a lot.

Pro-tip: If you can, invest money into equipment that will help you stabilise your video.

If you don't mind spending some money, you can buy a handheld stabiliser for your phone or compact camera. Alternatively, you could purchase a camera with in-built image stabilisation .

9) Avoid filming with a lot of wind or noise in the background

9. Even you are a new to vlogging, these 12 Best Travel vlogging tips that will help you make an awesome video. Learn how to do a travel vlog with us now!

Where possible, try to vlog at places that are not too noisy. I've filmed at a windy beach before, and it was so difficult to salvage that clip. I had to trim away most of it, and the part that remained was extremely unpleasant to listen to.

A good idea would be to film a test clip, and immediately play it back to check the sound. If the clip sounds noisy, try talking louder. If that still doesn't work, you should try to find a more conducive place to film.

Pro-tip: Use a wind muff

People who don't mind spending money to improve sound quality could purchase a wind muff for their camera. It is like a little tuft of fur you stick on your camera's microphone. It doesn't reduce sound quality, and it virtually removes the annoying sound that is produced with a strong breeze.

10) Choose good music that accentuates the mood of your video

10. Even you are a new to vlogging, these 12 Best Travel vlogging tips that will help you make an awesome video. Learn how to do a travel vlog with us now!

It's pretty important to have music that fits your video, as the music really has an impact on your viewers. Try to choose music that accentuates the vibes you want to bring across.

For example, you'd definitely want to use rock or pop music to get adrenaline rushing when people watch your bungee jumping vlog . Or you might want to use chill tropical beats to make a cool video of your time at the beach.

The  YouTube audio library  is a great place to get free music. SoundCloud has a better variety of music, but not all songs can be downloaded for free.

11) Put your vlog aside for a while then re-evaluate

11. Even you are a new to vlogging, these 12 Best Travel vlogging tips that will help you make an awesome video. Learn how to do a travel vlog with us now!

Once you're done editing your travel  vlog , set it aside for a day or two before you look at it again. I usually do this, and I always find things to improve the second time I watch it. By doing this, you refresh your mind, and it seems like you're watching with a new perspective when it is time to re- evalutate . This is a great technique that you should definitely use.

12) Watch other travel vlogs

12. Even you are a new to vlogging, these 12 Best Travel vlogging tips that will help you make an awesome video. Learn how to do a travel vlog with us now!

Finally, the most important travel vloggin tip: Watch other travel vlogs .

There's a whole lot of vlogs out there on YouTube and they are great learning material for improving your own skills. I learned most of the tips I'm sharing on this list from all of the travel vlogs I've watched in the past.

If you have time to spare, I recommend that you watch popular travel vloggers such as Hey Nadine, Mr Ben Brown, or Fun For Louis.

When you watch them, you will be able to see how the different tips I've talked about come into play in their videos, and you will gain ideas and inspiration for your next vlog .

I'm going to leave you with one of the first few vlogs I did. It is a vlog of my most favourite place in Vietnam, and it is where I snapped all these pictures at. Enjoy!

With that, I have reached the end of my list of travel vlogging tips. I hope this list helped you see that good travel vlogs can be done even with just a cell phone. All you need is to put in some effort and follow the tips I gave you.

Travel vlogs are the most engaged, comment, and liked on social media platforms. If you want to share your travel experience with the audience, then start a travel vlog. Here are a few tips to get you started.

Buy them all on the InterMiles' shop stage through amazon to acquire miles on them! More miles lead to more travel. In the present circumstance you just win.

Tip #3: Avoid shooting everything

Certainly, your experience of visiting another spot may be super advancing. The adventures of investigating another area and recording the things you have seen are exceptionally regular. Be that as it may, your watchers don't have to know it all. Indeed, you likewise don't need to record every single snapshot of your excursion. Try not to be so engaged with movement vlogging that you neglect making some great memories on your outing.

Tip #4: Editing

This is where you don't want to fail. The engagement of your video starts here. And it requires good editing software to produce excellent video. The cool effects, transitions of your frames can always bring better watching experience for your audience, which is also the factor that affects your audience's attention. Travel Vlog Mistakes and How to Avoid Them

It may seem entertaining to start your travel, but there are mistakes that you need to look out for: It takes more than hard work for a beginner travel vlogger to make it. To help you, I will be listing a few mistakes experts have spoken about in the past. Here are the biggest mistakes every travel blogger should be aware of;

Not investing in audio

Here is where new vloggers are making a mistake. The camera alone can not make your video engaging. It does matter how good your clips are; you need sound effects in your videos. Most of the new editing tools have some music to help enhance your video.

Not planning your content

If you are not planning your content, your career in travel vlog will be a disaster. You need to plan your content before you start.

Adding irrelevant content to your video

Do not ever make the mistake of adding content that contradicts your focused niche. Define what type of travel vlogs you want to focus on and be consistent with your content creation.

Before you pick a career, be sure you love it. Do not choose one because it's the new tread. You have to be yourself in whatever you are doing; you should enjoy what you are doing. Be original, don't force yourself into what will be worrisome for you.

There are many more mistakes new travel vloggers should be aware of, and you can read more .

Types Of Travel Vlogs Niche

Jessica is a freelance writer, avid traveler, and capoeirista living in Brazil. A native Australian, she moved to the UK at 21 to study for a Masters in History at Oxford University and see more of the world. Since setting off, she has visited every populated continent, spending most of her time in Europe, China, Southeast Asia, and South America.

Are you passionate about travel and want to see more of the world but always lack the motivation to just get outside and explore? Then it's time to watch some travel vlogs.

Travel vlogs can help you plan your next trip by showcasing corners of the world that you might not have considered. They also share tips to help you get the most out of your next travel experience.

But with thousands of travel vlogs out there, which ones should you be watching? Here are my 10 best travel vlog channels to inspire you this year.

But if you're more of a reader than a watcher, these  travel blogs  will be more up your alley.

10. Ginger on the Go

FAQs About Travel Vlogging

How do travel vloggers get paid.

Travel vloggers earn their money in 3 main ways. The first in monetizing their YouTube channel. This is possible for popular channels as people are likely to watch them frequently along with the adverts that usually come on. Vloggers get paid per minute of view time.

The second way is through affiliate marketing. Many online companies, such as Amazon, will pay you a small referral fee for clients that link to a product from your site or channel and then choose to buy. Many big travel sites, such as Expedia and Kayak, also have affiliate programs.

The third way that travel vloggers get paid is by partnering with companies to promote their products. A vlogger might be paid to write about a hotel or experience to promote it to their viewers.

How Much Do Travel Vloggers Make?

There can be a big difference between what travel vloggers make, depending on the popularity of their channel. According to a 2018 study, a travel vlog with a healthy but not enormous following on YouTube might expect to make $12,000 a year.

While a large channel with lots of partnership agreements earned more than $200,000.

The average estimated income for a successful solo travel vlogger is $3,000-$4,000 monthly, but they can earn much more!

How Can I Start a Travel Vlog?

If you're an enthusiastic traveler and feel like you have stories to tell, then you have the basis for a travel vlog.

But remember that most successful vlogs share a personal story on top of travel advice, so be prepared to share some of yourself along with your experiences. You need to be your channel's face, heart, and soul.

To make your channel successful, find a thematic niche to focus on and invest in the equipment you need to film good-quality footage.

If you aren't an expert yourself, you need to learn or partner with a professional. After that, it's all about posting regularly and consistently and being patient as your following grows.

You can start earning off advertising when you meet YouTube's minimum engagement levels for  monetizing your channel . This also generally gives you the stats to approach relevant travel partners and suggest collaborations. Don't forget affiliate advertising for major travel sites!

Follow Your Inspiration!

Consuming travel vlogs is a great way to research your bucket list destinations and get inspired for your next trip, big or small. If you're considering traveling, keep all your favorite inspirations in one place with Pilot.

Everything from his website’s design to his personal writing voice makes for an engaging reading experience. Not to mention that the name “Nomadic Matt” really sticks with me.

Matthew Kepnes, AKA Nomadic Matt, was once a cubicle worker who admittedly wasn’t always a big traveler. On his first trip back in 2004, he went to Costa Rica where his perspective in life transformed forever.

A single trip — that’s how easy it is to fall in love with travel.

Today, Matthew continues living the life he was born for. He primarily blogs about travel tips, encompassing topics like how to save for a trip and things to do in Singapore.

By:  Matt Kyhnn

I think there’s something about the name “Matt” that raises a person’s affinity for traveling.

Backpacking Matt , owned and run by Matt Kyhnn, is a travel blog that has similar vibes with Nomadic Matt. It has a simplistic design, a memorable content tone, and striking travel photos that bring the blog’s stories to life.

Matt Kyhnn also leverages videos — providing his audience a more immersive way to enjoy his content.

Fresh out of college, Matt simply decided that he won’t settle for a 9-5 job. Instead, he spent months working and traveling across Ireland, Scotland, and other regions in mainland Europe.

He then booked a one-way ticket to New Zealand where he now resides. In addition to his blog, Matt also runs his own travel planning and booking website — Planit NZ.

The Blonde Abroad

By:  Kiersten “Kiki” Rich

I covered Kiersten “Kiki” Rich of  The Blonde Abroad   in my list of the top lifestyle bloggers to follow in 2024.

As her blog’s name suggests, she’s mainly a travel blogger who also discusses two other lifestyle-related topics — blogging and photography.

Kiersten spent three, eye-opening months in multiple countries to re-envision the idea of “ success .” She succeeded in her goal and is now one of the most accomplished travel bloggers on the web.

The Blonde Abroad covers a range of topics from travel photography to foreign cuisine. All of which draws wisdom from Kiersten’s personal travel experiences.

California Through My Lens

By:  Josh McNair

Josh McNair, owner of  California Through My Lens , has a distinct writing style that vividly describes details of travel destinations.

California Through My Lens is run by both Josh and his wife, Amy. The pair also has an active YouTube channel called Through My Lens where they share their experiences in video form.

As you may have guessed, Josh’s content focuses on the beaches, caves, hiking trails, waterfalls, and various landmarks in California. Intricate details of each location, from hike distances to specific travel tips, are often included in his posts.

6. Dan Flying Solo

Dan Flying Solo

By:  Daniel “Dan” Clarke

Dan Flying Solo   is by Daniel Clarke — a travel blogger, photographer, and creative director at his own Portugal-based media company.

Dan’s blogging life was ignited by his passion for photography. He was originally a frustrated restaurant manager who wanted more out of life.

Like me, Dan is a self-taught blogger. He worked day in and day out by doing free online courses, YouTube tutorials, and heaps of informative guides.

What makes Dan Flying Solo an extra noteworthy blog is its library of video content. Daniel also makes it clear that the site has no particular theme — not unlike everything else in life.

“ There’s not one particular theme to this blog because I don’t think that’s how life really is. We change and what we enjoy changes.”

7. Travel with Lakshmi

As an Indian herself, Lakshmi made sure to highlight the country’s top travel destinations on the blog. She also documented her travels to foreign countries — from Abu Dhabi to the United Kingdom.

11. Alex in Wanderland

Alex in Wanderland

By:  Alexandra Baackes

Alexandra Baackes created  Alex in Wanderland   for two reasons.

First, she’s been dealing with a case of wanderlust all her life. And second, she’s a fan of a beloved, fictional character — Alice in Wonderland.

Alexandra is originally from Brooklyn, New York where she purchased her one-way ticket into the traveling life. She now blogs about the best travel destinations, outdoor activities, and her personal, travel-related gear.

One of the things I like about Alex in Wanderland is the presentation and categorization of content.

On the “Categories” page, Alex makes sure articles are well-organized based on topics like travel inspiration, activities, and planning. This makes it easy for her audience to find the information they need at any given time.

Aileen runs  I Am Aileen   — an award-winning blog that discusses just about everything there is to discuss in travel. She writes about destinations, the best travel activities, foreign cuisine, and more.

What interested me the most about Aileen is her blogging background. At age 21, she quit her corporate job, which only paid $300 a month, to become a professional traveler.

Since then, she’s been on a streak of smashing goals and breaking barriers. Thanks to her commitment to quality content, she’s recognized as one of the top bloggers in Asia.

14. Wandering Earl

Wandering Earl

By:  Derek Earl Baron

Here’s a fun trivia about  Wandering Earl .

Unlike most bloggers who use their first names, the “Earl” in “Wandering Earl” is actually a middle name. Blog owner Derek Earl Baron only thought that “Wandering Derek” didn’t sound as catchy.

Derek is a one-of-a-kind, adventurous soul who discovered his purpose as a modern nomad relatively early into adulthood. After graduating in 1999, he planned a three-month vacation across Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam.

That three-month vacation continues to this very day.

And that’s how Wandering Earl was created — documenting Derek’s adventures in over 100 countries. He also shares valuable pieces of wisdom on travel planning, food, budgeting, gear, and so on.

Wandering Earl has that “old-school” look and feel to it. On the plus side, the site’s design only highlights

  • Working while traveling
  • Selling “eGuides”

15. Be My Travel Muse

Be My Travel Muse

By:  Kristin Addis

Be My Travel Muse  is a solo female travel blog created by Kristin Addis.

She studied in Taiwan and kept an investment banking job for four years. The only problem was, her daily routine rendered her creative, dreamer side claustrophobic.

Her first step was a one-way ticket to Bangkok — envisioning a life of writing and travel. That’s exactly what she accomplished with her blog, which now caters to millions of readers all over the world.

Kristin believes that solo traveling is the best way for women to feel empowered and more confident. She prioritizes solo female travel tips on her blog, including guides on safety, packing, and maintaining relationships.

Be My Travel Muse also has heaps of content on popular travel destinations and self-care for women.

16. Followtheboat

Followtheboat

By:  Liz Cleere and Jamie Furlong

Followtheboat   is a unique travel blog that focuses on a specific mode of transport: sailing.

It is created with love by a travel writer Liz Cleere and photographer Jamie Furlong. There’s also Millie the rescue cat, which functions as a source of inspiration and encouragement for the blog’s human founders.

Despite the focus on sailboats, Followtheboat’s content isn’t just made for sailors. The posts are tailor-made for travelers who also happen to be interested in the art and joys of sailing.

Don’t be surprised at the humor and dynamic range of topics on the blog. You’ll find posts like “tools you need on a sailboat” and “is this the weirdest loo in the world?”

Followtheboat also has a library of podcasts, which record Liz and Jamie’s experiences on their travels.

The Opposite Travellers

By:  Ryan and Rachel Riel

The Opposite Travellers   were created by married couple Ryan and Rachel Riel.

While both loved to travel, Ryan and Rachel had contrasting preferences when it comes to traveling.

Rachel prefers to travel in style and luxury — through the accommodations and services offered by establishments and travel agencies. Ryan, on the other hand, leans toward daring adventures like biking and trekking — on $5 per night accommodations.

The couple, however, utilized their differences as a selling point in The Opposite Travellers.

As such, the website’s “Travel” section has two main categories: “Luxury Travel” and “Adventure Travel.” In other words, the blog has a diverse content library for travelers of all tastes and budgets.

The Opposite Travellers also boasts high-quality visuals taken and produced by Ryan Riel. All of the site’s videos are published on Ryan Riel Media — Ryan’s official YouTube channel.

20. Bucket List Journey

Bucket List Journey

By:  Annette White

Travel is all about adventures, and so is life.

That’s the essence of the  Bucket List Journey   by Annette White.

The blog’s tagline is “tools and inspiration to live your list.” It refers to a person’s “bucket list,” which is basically a list of goals and experiences they want in life.

Annette didn’t always have such a positive outlook in life. She used to be diagnosed with anxiety, which caused her to miss out on life-enriching experiences and opportunities.

Eventually, she decided that she’ll no longer become a prisoner of fear and uncertainty. She had courage and took charge of her life’s direction — something every aspiring blogger needs to do at one point.

Bucket List Journey talks about bucket list-worthy destinations, motivation, money, and travel tips. Annette also imparts knowledge on people who also struggle with facing fear and making braver life decisions.

21. Migrationology

Migrationology

By:  Mark Wiens

When I first visited  Migrationology , I wasn’t sure whether to classify it as a food or travel blog.

Then I checked out Mark Wiens’s “About” page. There, I learned that he viewed food as a way to connect with people in various cultures.

And to be exposed to these cultures, Mark dedicates his time, money, and efforts to travel.

Mark makes sure the blog only focuses on content based on his personal travels. It’s made for people who want to experience the flavors of the world — in person or through Mark’s posts.

Apart from general food travel blog posts and city guides, Migrationology also offers readers a “Food Tour” service. It is the result of a year of research done by Mark himself — in partnership with  Bangkok Vanguards .

22. The Cranky Flier

The Cranky Flier

By:  Brett Snyder

We already mentioned a blog about boats and another about trains. It’s time to talk about a blog on airplanes and air travel.

Cranky Flier   is a unique blog created by Brett Snyder — President and “Chief Airline Dork” of Cranky Flier LLC.

Brett has been fascinated with airlines all his life. When he was young, he collected airline timetables and even spent a birthday with his grandmother watching planes land.

As an adult, he spent several years in the airline industry fulfilling multiple roles. He became a sales intern at USAir, senior analyst at America West, marketing planning product at United, and so on.

Today, Brett publishes his opinions about the airline industry on Cranky Flier. He also updates several series, like “Worst Airline Ever,” “Airlines We Lost,” and “Across the Aisle Interviews.”

I’ll let you determine what these series are all about based on what they’re called.

23. Never Ending Footsteps

Never Ending Footsteps

By:  Lauren Juliff

Lauren Juliff is one of those bloggers who already knew what they wanted to be from an early age.

She dreamt of traveling to new places, meeting new people, and exploring new cultures.  Never Ending Footsteps   is proof that she accomplished all three.

The blog consists of posts about Lauren’s fulfilling travels to different countries. But unlike a lot of famous travel bloggers, she also talks about the downsides of being a digital nomad.

Never Ending Footsteps has a “The Incidents” blog section where Lauren discusses the not-so-sexy aspects of traveling. She has been scammed, attacked by monkeys, locked out of her room, lost her passport, and more.

Despite these incidents, Lauren’s love for travel only grew. Such experiences increased her wisdom and travel acumen — resulting in some of the most insightful travel articles ever published.

Lauren also helps her audience get into the world of travel blogging. Check out “How to Start a Travel Blog” for information on web hosting, working with WordPress, and so on.

It is created by Amanda Williams, who is a former journalist with degrees in journalism, hospitality, and tourism management.

Fast forward to 2024, the blog now averages over 340,000 page views per month. Amanda also maintains a strong social media presence with thousands of followers across networks like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

25. Against the Compass

Against The Compass

By:  Joan Torres

How do you make a travel blog stand out?

Joan Torres has a surefire answer: covering the most unusual and “off the beaten track” destinations.

Against The Compass   is a unique blog that talks about the travel routes and destinations you probably haven’t heard of. It covers destinations that people don’t normally include in their bucket list, like Pakistan, Tunisia, Syria, and other high-risk countries.

Of course, Joan makes sure to highlight the importance of safety when traveling in relatively low-popularity destinations. He has comprehensive guides for solo female travel, travel insurance, and general travel safety.

26. Everything Everywhere

Everything Everywhere

By:  Gary Arndt

In travel blogging, a picture is undeniably worth a thousand words. There’s simply no excuse for any travel blogger to forego the inclusion of visual content in their posts.

Gary Arndt’s absolutely nailed it with his photography work for  Everything Everywhere .

Gary actually won multiple, major travel photography awards — more than any travel photographer. His photography is so good that I suggest you check the “Travel Photos” page on Everything Everywhere.

Go ahead, take a break and thank me later.

Other than taking breathtaking photos, Gary also publishes detailed blog posts about the places he’s been. He’s been on the go for roughly 9 years non-stop, which means readers will never run out of material.

27. The Longest Way Home

The Longest Way Home

By:  David Ways

The Longest Way Home   started as the personal travel journal of David Ways — a solo traveler in search of home.

The blog originally started as David’s private, digital diary. As he journeyed across Europe and gained experience, it turned into a full-on blog with travel guides to specific locations.

David finally found home in Nepal before traveling to other parts of Southeast Asia.

He’s not the most nitpicky blogger in terms of grammar and spelling, but he’s definitely a brilliant storyteller. He’s also skilled in capturing and immortalizing moments into photos, which you can view on his blog’s gallery.

The Longest Way Home has a library of content about various destinations, trekking, and travel planning. It also features in-depth travel guides to Nepal, Thailand, and overland travel — plus a mini-guide to Portugal.

30. HoneyTrek

HoneyTrek

By:  Mike and Anne Howard

Believe it or not,  HoneyTrek   is a travel blog about a honeymoon.

Yes — it’s probably the longest honeymoon ever.

Founders Mike and Anne Howard are a power couple with skills that can make any blog great. Anne is a former magazine editor whereas Mike’s a veteran digital media strategist and photographer.

Together, they’ve honeymooned to over seven continents and 60 countries while creating the most romantic travel blog in the process.

HoneyTrek contains a collection of posts about their travel destinations, experiences, and travel tips for all budgets. They also wrote two successful books: “Comfortably Wild” and “Ultimate Journeys for Two.”

32. The Adventurists

The Adventurists

By:  Tom Morgan

The Adventurists   is hands down one of the most well-designed travel blogs in this post.

The blog proves that integrating tons of video content into one page doesn’t have to affect its loading speed. In fact, the site loads surprisingly fast despite having several video panels on the homepage.

I’m not going to delve too deeply into this technical feat. What I’m going to focus on, however, is the brilliant team behind The Adventurists.

The site is founded by “Chief Idiot” — Tom Morgan. Apparently, most of the crazy ideas featured on the blog were his.

Every page on the site reflects Morgan and his team’s wackiness and passion for great adventures. They do, host, and document daring outdoor activities on air, land, and sea — plus, a whole lot of charity.

Their audience can also participate in these activities, which can be held in various parts of the globe. The “Monkey Run,” for example, is an event where participants race through dirt trails on tiny bikes.

The bottom line is, it’s hard to come up with unique ideas that set you apart in the blogging landscape. The Adventurists, on the other hand, managed to do so multiple times.

Like most renowned travel bloggers, Michael captures amazing photos that travel enthusiasts can fall in love with. He puts some of these photos up for sale to companies who’d like to feature those locations or properties.

Michael continues to explore the world as a digital nomad. He also shares practical travel tips so readers can experience these adventures themselves.

34. Hand Luggage Only

Hand Luggage Only

By:  Yaya and Lloyd

Hand Luggage Only   is a hugely successful travel blog by couple Yaya and Lloyd.

The site doles out travel advice, inspiration, photography tips, food reviews, and posts about must-see destinations. It also has a library of high-quality videos where Yaya and Lloyd describe their experiences in detail.

Yaya and Lloyd started the blog in 2014 with a plan to share their travel stories with the world. Within a few hours, they published their first posts using photos they already took and edited.

The moral of the story is, consider starting a blog if you already have a library of unused travel photos.

35. Travel4Wildlife

Travel4Wildlife

By:  Christina Garcia and Hal Brindley

It should only take anyone a second to figure out what  Travel4Wildlife   is all about.

The blog is created by couple Christina Garcia and Hal Brindley out of their passion for wildlife.

Hal is an experienced wildlife photographer for organizations like the Nature Conservancy Magazine, SEE Turtles, and RARE Conservation. Christina, on the other hand, is an experienced zoologist who worked on studies on wolves, cheetahs, and leopards.

Travel4Wildlife’s goal is to increase awareness and increase the appreciation for wildlife. More importantly, it was Christina and Hal’s life goal to promote wildlife conservation through responsible tourism.

Behind the scenes, the couple teams up to create compelling articles that focus on wildlife in specific destinations. The blog covers a range of species on different continents — from owls in South Africa to polar bears in Canada.

The Insatiable Traveler

By:  Susan Portnoy

Susan Portnoy, also called  The Insatiable Traveler   on her blog, is a seasoned travel writer and photographer.

Susan’s last full-time job was VP of corporate communications at Condé Nast. When that door closed, she took on a freelancing career as she learned the art of photography.

Fast forward a few years, and she has enough accolades to make photography degree holders envious.

Her photographic works were featured by organizations like National Geographic and companies like Bing. She also won awards like the SATW Lowell Thomas Award and the 2018 Gold in the Muster Photo Competition.

The main focal points of The Insatiable Traveler include destinations, cruises, photography, and travel gear. Susan also covers the safaris in various regions, like Tanzania, Namibia, and Kenya.

38. Uncornered Market

Uncornered Market

By:  Daniel Noll and Audrey Scott

Dan Noll and Audrey Scott are a pair of adventurers, storytellers, and tourism advisors who advocate for responsible traveling.

They created  Uncornered Market   — a responsible tourism blog — after leaving their secure and stable lifestyle in Prague. Prior to that, they lived in San Francisco and took a leap of faith for the sake of avoiding regrets.

It’s clear that both Dan and Audrey believed that fulfillment can’t be found within the confines of your comfort zone. They explored, made connections, and shared their experiences through their travel blog.

Some of the topics you’ll find in Uncornered Market are about destinations, sustainable tourism, food, and trekking. Dan and Audrey also write about personal growth and experiential travel.

Uncornered Market is also a tourism development and marketing consultancy company. They help travel companies, destinations, and tourism organizations build their brands and deliver their message to a wider audience.

39. Jessie on a Journey

Jessie on a Journey

By:  Jessica “Jessie” Festa

Like plenty of bloggers, Jessica Festa needed a taste of life before discovering her true calling.

In her youth, Jessie traveled to mostly cruises in the Caribbean and road trips in North America. She also experienced being a sightseeing guide in New York.

Jessie on a Journey   is the result of her pursuing her dreams of getting paid to do something she loves. She now blogs about being a solo female traveler, blogging it, and profiting off of it.

I’m sure a lot of big-name bloggers are all too familiar with how Jessie made the blogging vision a reality.

For a long time, she felt that the workaday lifestyle isn’t for her. It made her feel like she’s living everyone else’s life — not the kind of life she wanted to keep.

Despite the disapproval of loved ones, Jessie decided to quit her secure job in favor of being a travel blogger.

She was just as unprepared as most people before starting their own blog. The key difference is, she went out there and took her first step.

40. Legal Nomads

Legal Nomads

By:  Jodi Ettenberg

Back when Jodi Ettenberg was in law school, she never would’ve guessed she’d run a successful travel and food business.

That happens to a lot of people, especially those who never thought of giving priority to their passions.

It’s just a hunch, but I think the name  Legal Nomads   had something to do with Jodi’s background in law.

Legal Nomads highlights destinations and local cultures just as insightfully as other travel blogs. What makes it different is that Jodi focuses on local cuisines to experience and tell the stories of each destination.

A huge part of Jodi’s blog is about wellness and gluten-free eating. She then utilized her knowledge and experience to create detailed restaurant cards, which travelers can use when visiting certain countries.

41. Indiana Jo

Indiana Jo

By:  Jo Fitzsimons

Like Jodi Ettenberg, Jo Fitzsimons also used to practice law before becoming a successful travel and lifestyle writer.

Indiana Jo   started way back in 2010 where Jo can comfortably type away her thoughts and musings. Fed up with her full-time job, she went out to see the world as a digital nomad.

It wasn’t always smooth sailing for Indiana Jo, however. According to her, she thought about quitting the blog several times before finally realizing that it’s a lifetime thing.

Jo writes about her travel experiences, destinations, wine, and food. She also shares travel planning tips along with a long list of content about topics that personally interest her.

42. TravelFreak

TravelFreak

By:  Jeremy Scott Foster

TravelFreak   is the brainchild of Jeremy Scott Foster who left America in the middle of a recession and to Australia.

For a while, he racked up some savings as a traveling bartender. It took some time before he finally made the switch to be a digital nomad and online entrepreneur.

Jeremy created the blog to help people create opportunities to achieve the fulfilling life they deserve.

He writes about travel advice, destinations, gear, and ways to get your finances in order as you travel. This includes guides on how to land and keep a job abroad along with resources on reliable booking websites.

I personally like the way Jeremy designed TravelFreak to provide the best possible user experience. Unlike a traditional layout, the site features a search bar so readers can jump right into the content they need.

TravelFreak has been featured in Forbes, National Geographic, The New York Times, and a few other big-name publications.

43. The Everywhereist

The Everywhereist

By:  Geraldine DeRuiter

Before anything else, yes — that’s Rand Fishkin in the photo above.

And yes, the next travel blogger on this list is Rand’s longtime sweetheart and wife.

Geraldine DeRuiter was a former copywriter and went with Rand in his travels, which are often business-related. She then turned to the habit of documenting their travel experiences, which she described as “love letters” to her husband.

Today, Geraldine works full-time on  The Everywhereist   — named by Time magazine as one of the best blogs in 2011.

The Everywhereist contains posts about food and Geraldine’s travel experiences along with a comprehensive Philadelphia travel guide. The guide contains information on where to go, eat, shop, and stay.

Geraldine also wrote a book called “All Over The Place.” It chronicles how she embraced her love for blogging after being laid off, which aspiring bloggers can draw inspiration from.

44. Keep Calm and Travel

Keep Calm and Travel

By:  Clelia Mattana

Keep Calm and Travel   is a travel blog created by serial traveler Clelia Mattana.

Ever since she was 19, Clelia is a certified sea lover and globetrotter. But like many travel bloggers, she was given a choice between a secure job and the traveling lifestyle.

Clelia’s finalized her choice when she bought a one-way ticket to Asia. She then created Keep Calm and Travel to send a simple message:

“No matter what your age is, or your budget, or status, you can travel and live your life on your own terms.”

The blog’s topics include destinations across continents, photography, and travel gear. She also has a dedicated page for Sardinia, which is one of her absolute favorite travel destinations.

45. Practical Wanderlust

Practical Wanderlust

By:  Lia and Jeremy Garcia

Lia and Jeremy Garcia, who aptly labeled themselves a “travel couple” on Instagram, are the minds behind  Practical Wanderlust .

Jeremy is a film degree holder whose passions include writing and directing. He also became a high school teacher who taught filmmaking and digital media art.

Lia, on the other hand, has a fashion design and apparel merchandising degree. She took on roles in corporate merchandising before becoming a business systems analyst.

Why did I tell you all this? Simple: I want you to know what the pair had to give up pursuing their dreams of traveling.

Practical Wanderlust’s goal is to help other people enjoy travel in the most realistic and sensible approach possible. The blog is filled with detailed content on planning memorable trips on a budget, where to go, and staying safe.

Lia and Jeremy also host their own podcast, which is available on Google Podcasts, Spotify, and Apple Podcasts.

47. The Voyageur

The Voyageur

By:  Pauline Chardin

Pauline Chardin is a France-based fashion designer, photographer, and art director.

She always had a soft spot for travel — driven by her appreciation for picturesque architecture, landscapes, and good food. She started  The Voyageur   to help people view the world through her voice and eyes.

The Voyageur is a simple, yet aesthetic website achieved through Pauline’s incredible photography skills. Apart from itineraries and posts about hotels, food, art, and architecture, the site also has a sizeable photo gallery.

Images are accompanied by a brief article that describes the destination’s history and Pauline’s thoughts and emotions during her visit. I’m not sure what it is, but there’s something about this content format that’s truly engaging and relaxing.

48. Amateur Traveler

Amateur Traveler

By:  Chris Christensen

Don’t be fooled by the name —  Amateur Traveler   is by no means run by an amateur.

Chris Christensen is a skilled photographer, travel writer, and podcast host. The site also utilizes a long list of monetization strategies that I believe every blogger should learn.

True, he wasn’t the most experienced traveler when he started the blog. Before he created Amateur Traveler, he was a full-time EVP of engineering and operations for a company based in Silicon Valley.

In his defense, he grew up in a family that traveled a lot to national parks in a trailer. He also learned a lot of foreign languages, which he believes is a window into understanding and embracing different cultures.

Amateur Traveler discusses destinations, travel budgeting, planning, gear, and booking. The site also features a weekly podcast on the top destinations around the world.

49. Girl Eat World

Girl Eat World

By:  Melissa Hie

Melissa Hie is the “Girl” in  Girl Eat World  — a name that encapsulates what the whole blog is all about.

You see, Melissa’s three passions are food, travel, and storytelling. She started the blog in 2015 as a digital diary for herself and friends who need travel tips.

Prior to her blog’s success, she amassed quite a following on Instagram. This springboarded her blogging career, which she put in the back burner after focusing on her full-time career.

Girl Eat World is essentially a compendium of Melissa’s travel stories and travel planning guides. She also has an iconic style of capturing Instagram posts, which must be seen to be appreciated.

50. The Adventure Junkies

The Adventure Junkies

By:  Antonio Cala and Amanda Zeisset

The Adventure Junkies   is definitely not your average travel blog.

It’s not just about the travel stories of founders Antonio Cala and Amanda Zeisset. Upon visiting the blog for the first time, you’ll realize that it’s all about the community the blog has built.

New visitors are encouraged to join “ Summit ” — a free community for people who seek adventures through travel and outdoor activities. There, members can connect, plan events, share posts, ask questions, form groups, and discuss anything related to travel.

The Adventure Junkies also compile guides and resources about outdoor activities like diving, kayaking, mountain biking, and snowboarding. There’s also a section for visitors who’d like to learn about outdoor and underwater photography.

Antonio and Amanda started The Adventure Junkies as a personal blog about their three years of cycling. Over time, their readers began asking questions on how they can plan their own adventures.

The couple then realized that they need to create something more than a personal blog. As such, they transformed The Adventure Junkies as a one-stop shop for adventurists.

51. A Broken Backpack Travel Blog

A Broken Backpack

By:  Melissa Giroux

Melissa Giroux used to be a social worker who only traveled once a year.

Melissa created  A Broken Backpack   a year after her journey in the Canadian Rockies — hitch-hiking from point A to B. She continued working on her blog as a creative outlet while working on a farm in Australia.

It didn’t take long before A Broken Backpack’s popularity gained momentum and gave Melissa a new frontier.

The website contains crucial tips on travel gear, budgeting, destinations, and the life of a digital nomad. Melissa also put together in-depth guides on travel blogging, moving to another country as an expat, and backpacking.

53. Life Part 2

Life Part 2

By:  Jonathan Look Jr. and Sarah Wilson

The last blog on this list that your best life can start at any time you choose.

Let me tell you the story behind  Life Part 2   and the people behind it.

Jonathan Look Jr. and Sarah Wilson are both happy retirees with a simple mantra: “don’t waste your retirement.”

To them, retirement isn’t about being comfortable and secure. Rather, it’s all about the freedom to listen to your heart and follow where it takes you.

Jonathan and Sarah met in Chiang Mai, Thailand where they both agreed to see the world as a couple.

Life Part 2 is a mix of all things travel. At times, there’ll be a post about remote destinations and backpacking, and at other times, the theme is luxury travel.

You will, however, notice that the content topics on the blog often revolve around retirement, minimalism, and travel.

Planning to go on your own travel adventures? Perhaps you’re thinking of starting your very own travel blog?

It doesn’t matter if you’ve got a case of wanderlust or the desire to be a travel blogger yourself.

The list above has some of the best travel blogs ever created. They can provide you with ideas and inspiration for your next trip or first-ever travel blog post.

If you think I missed a great travel blog that everyone should read, let me know in the comments below. Good luck!

Fourteen incredible travel vlog ideas

These days a vlog is a simple yet effective way to market yourself and gain a following. As a travel vlogger, you have the best responsibility in the world. You must travel to incredible places, do extraordinary things and then make good quality videos representing those adventures. There are two small problems with this seemingly simple process: Firstly, where do you find good ideas for vlogs?  and secondly, how do you make a vlog. Each video should have a creative twist that keeps your audience captivated. The viewers need to like it so much that they want to travel there immediately. Here are some travel vlog ideas that might captivate more viewers.  Read down to find out how to learn to make vlog.

Master your wildlife filmmaking skills in the heart of wild Africa.

A. Make it personal.

Your first pinned video should introduce you, your channel and the type of travel vlog you’ll be hosting. People are interested in you, so include more about yourself as the vlogger. You can incorporate your personality into these videos and show people they can trust what you tell them.

Interesting vlog ideas showing more about you are:

1. your morning or evening home routine, “a day in your life “;

2. your favourite places or activities;

3. a house or room tour (especially if you’re travelling);

4. a behind-the-scenes look at your photography shooting or editing processes;

5. your travel bucket list.

Personal vlogs make your channel inspiring and unique and allow your audience to identify with you as a person and traveller. A good tip from a pro: Michael Cole at design wizard says, “follow your passion” in his blog on  becoming a YouTuber .

B.Include other people

Another excellent travel vlog idea is to approach and include other people in your video. You could interview the person sitting next to you on the bus or the owner of a coffee shop you found. You could also do a video to answer their comments or FAQs to appeal to your followers . Make collaboration videos with other vloggers. This way, both of you can gain some viewers and work together to develop creative travel vlog ideas.

C.Bring in some humour .

People like to laugh. With the requisite permissions, film a prank you did on your travel buddy – prank videos tend to go viral. You could also see any trending funnies or YouTube challenges you could try. Parody videos, e.g. impersonating a movie character, can be hilarious to watch.

D.How to do.

How-to videos are popular and helpful. We live in an age of learning and improving ourselves. When travelling to an adventurous destination like Africa, you could make a vlog on “How to survive a night in the African bush”. My personal favourite is ” How I discovered that the rock hyrax is the closest living relative of the elephant “.

E.Talk about your trip as you prepare .

Before travelling, do an introductory vlog about the place you’re planning to visit. The planning details of your trip will get your audience excited for the destination vlogs to come.

F.Interesting travel stories

Maybe something out of the ordinary happened to you on your trip. Something scary, funny, unusual, unique or even irritating. Your viewers will love the little anecdotes that made your trip unforgettable. Tell them the story of that extraordinary encounter.

G: Talk about what you know .

Everybody is an “expert” in something. You can include your hobbies or personal interests in your vlog by giving quick tutorials or demonstrations. For instance, while travelling, you could film yourself taking photos of African wildlife and explain how you got a particular shot. You could film the treasures you find on a game walk in the deep African bushveld. If you’re involved in activities like these, you can give more in-depth and credible information on it. If you talk about something you’re good at, it will build your audience’s trust.

H.Travel advice or tips

This type of vlog can include ‘do’s or don’ts’ for specific places, couple travel tips, packing or budgeting tips, or “survival tips” for each destination.

I.Sell a product

Selling products is an excellent travel vlog idea if you’re an experienced vlogger with something to sell. Maybe you’ve written a guidebook on a place you’ve visited or a how-to guide on vlogging. You can dedicate one of your videos to telling your followers about the new product. After this, you can refer to it again in future vlogs and remind them how and where they can purchase it. Learn about affiliate links and use them to monetise your vlog.

J. Cover an event

Make a vlog about it if you’re attending a live concert, music festival, or show. Take your audience to the concert by showing everything at the event, recording sections of the concert, introducing the location, etc. Make sure of legalities, and don’t publish the entire concert on your vlog as you are bound to run into copywriting issues.

K. A blooper video

Vloggers rarely use the first take in the final vlog. As a funny travel vlog idea, you could make a compilation of your bloopers and post it as a video of its own. As you already know, people love to laugh.

L. A vlog about a rare event

Unexpected things happen when you travel. Maybe you’ll find yourself stuck in the mud at the watering hole, and you have to dig the dirt out of the exhaust pipe with your pen. You could make a vlog about the community effort to rescue a beached whale or a family of elephants that move to a different reserve. Maximise on situations like these when they present themselves. They contain a lot of drama and immediate action that will immediately capture the viewer’s attention.

K. Adrenaline vlogs

If you’re an adrenaline freak, your activities will already provide some thrilling travel vlog ideas. Make your viewer’s pulse race by posting a video of you bungy jumping, river rafting or sandboarding. Adrenaline-filled adventures appeal to a particular target audience, so make sure that this type of video will fit in with the rest of your channel.

L. Rank the places you visit

It’s a good idea to upload a video after each trip to rank the place you just visited. Rank it using the same criteria and as a knowledgeable travel vlogger. Maybe your most recent trip has reached the top of the list, or perhaps it still hasn’t topped one of your previous adventures. Having a regular vlog theme like this will give your audience something to look forward to after watching the vlogs from your most recent holidays: where will this destination rank on your list?

With these travel vlog ideas, you can fill your vlog with exciting and engaging content that will keep your audience captivated. Whether your interest lies in travelling , telling stories with your camera or  filmmaking , having a vlog is a great way to document and share your travel experiences. Suppose you keep coming up with new ideas and initiatives. In that case, viewers will anxiously wait to see where your next adventures take you.

13 rarely used vlogging ideas that viewers will love

13 rarely used vlogging ideas that viewers will love

Have you ever been so burnt out w hen vlogging that you just can’t seem to come up with any new video ideas? You know you need to keep producing quality content on a regular basis, but you feel like it’s all been done before. It’s ok if you have. We’ve all been there, done that. The important thing is that you keep trying.

Always be on the lookout for new video ideas. A little brainstorming can go a long way when you have some ideas to get you started. This blog post discusses 13 great, rarely used vlogging ideas that can help you post videos regularly on YouTube.

1. A Peek Behind the Curtain

What can make behind the scenes videos so unique is that fact that no one else does what you do. When creating your own, focus on something that your viewers want to know or do and that only you can show them, such as how you create a certain product of yours on a business vlog. If you have a book that you just can’t keep in stock, take things a step further by taking your readers who obviously want to know more on a journey through your writing or editing process, or even how you designed the cover or binding.

Lavendaire takes viewers on a behind the scenes journey of creating her 2018 Artist of Life workbook . The workbook helps set readers up for a successful year through goal setting and other helpful exercises. Not only does the video showcase her product and encourages viewers to buy it, but it also provide unique content and inspiration viewers won’t get anywhere else.

2. Launch a Product with a Bang

Creating a YouTube video anytime you launch a new product is always a good idea. Monetizing your YouTube channel is more than just adding ads to the video. When making money online, it is important to have a diverse range of income streams. This means using ads, sponsorships, affiliate links, and even selling your own products (which is the most profitable of them all). The more you use, the more chances you have of making money.

Selling your own products is a fantastic way to achieve another income stream and is much easier than you think! There are all sorts of digital products that you can create in no time such as ebooks, ecourses, workbooks, graphics, and Lightroom presets. To sell them on YouTube, all you need to do it upload your digital products to your online Sellfy store and link to it on and in your video.

Peter McKinnon uses his product launch vlog to teach viewers how to properly use LUTs . Specifically, his LUTs. While the information he provides in this vlog is applicable to using LUTs in general, he uses his own product in the video and talks about them specifically. Not only does this make his viewers aware of his new product, it also drums up interest in using it themselves because they see all that he can do with them.

Or take Sorelle (video above) as an example. She makes launching her first product a super fun event and her audience absolutely loves it. Who said selling should be boring?

3. Take a Tour

Do you have a really cool workspace? Have you created an amazing organizational system? Did you go on a jaw-dropping vacation? Taking viewers on a tour of an area special to you is a great way to help everyone get to know the face behind the channel. Make sure to point out features of yours that can’t be found anywhere else such as cool thrift store finds, a custom built storage cabinet, or a rare place to find lodging on vacation.

A tour blog is an especially good travel vlog idea. Inthefrow stayed in a palace when she went to India and included a tour of it in her vlog. Not many people can say they’ve stayed in an Indian palace, so her video is one of a kind and stands out to viewers.

4. What’s in Your Bag?

“What’s in my bag?” videos are very popular vlog challenges on YouTube, especially with beauty bloggers, but there is a way to spin this tag to work for any topic or theme. “What’s in my bag?” is exactly as it sounds: you empty the contents of your bag on camera. This isn’t just limited to purses and pocket books. You could use a grocery bag, travel bag, or even a briefcase. This video tag is a great way to add more personality to your channel and feature tidbits of information that are interesting and unique to you.

Erin May Henry uses the bag she takes to work on-the-go and shows the camera everything she needs for running her business and freshening up between meetings. She calls this a “What’s in my bag?” tag, girl boss edition.

5. Not Your Typical Survival Guide

A survival guide is not limited to literal survival tips. A survival guide vlog can be on any topic that users have trouble understanding. They are an excellent way to provide helpful information to your viewers and prove you know what you’re talking about. Make sure you choose a topic that you are well versed in and that is relevant to your channel And try to include information on YouTube that no one else has already said, such as personal recommendations.

TheCrazyGorilla has a video series that breakdown a wide variety of traditional Mexican foods and recipes in a scripted and comical, yet informative, way. He explains these dishes in a way that no one else could and becomes an instant favorite of those looking for information on Mexican foods.

6. What’s Your Favorite?

Lots of vloggers make favorites videos on a regular basis because they are so fun and easy to do. It’s a great first vlog idea because it is a great way for viewers to get to know you. To create a favorites video, all you need to do it gather a bunch of your favorite things and talk about them! It could be foods, movies, songs, beauty products, or household items.

LustreLux has an Amazon Favorites video that shows off everything that she has ordered and loved. She has featured all kinds of different products and does not limit it to one category of product. For those who are an Amazon Associate or any other kind of affiliate, these kind of videos are also a greator  way to encourage affiliate sales.

7. Collaborate and Learn

Collaborating with other vloggers is great for a number of reasons. Not only can you learn from each other and come up with great new ideas, but you can also introduce your channel to their entire audience. Collaborations take place in many forms. You interview each other, host each other’s videos, even just team up to created a joint tutorial. When creating a collaboration vlog, make sure you work with another YouTuber whose audience would truly be interested in the content you share on a regular basis.

The Sorry Girls are a duo known for their inventive and affordable DIYs. In the past, they have worked with other DIY YouTubers to create bigger and better tutorials. One tutorial that they did with the YouTuber With Wendy, who is known for sewing her own clothes, focuses on sewing projects for around the home .

8. Show Off Your Shopping Haul

Shopping hauls are very popular among fashion, beauty, and technology vloggers, but it can work for any topic. All you need is a product that you have recently bought that you are super excited to show off. It could be a phone, a lipstick, a journal, a plant, or even an online course. The most important thing about a shopping haul is to only show off things you are excited about. The more items you have to show off in a shopping haul, the better, but it’s not necessary to show a lot. These videos are also great for encouraging affiliate sales.

She’s in Her Apron takes a shopping haul to a whole new level as she takes viewers on her couponing shopping trip where she is able to reduce her total for a table full of groceries to under $100 . Her video is helpful because it shows viewers the exact process she uses to reduce her grocery bill.

9. Do’s and Don’ts of Vlogging

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k25EIIsf1Cw

Do’s and Don’ts videos are great for explaining how to use a product or do certain things. It’s a different approach than doing a tutorial because, instead of explaining it outright, you are more or less giving tips and providing them with a reference to know if they are doing something wrong. The best way to go about this is showing a “do” to counteract every “don’t” you give. You can create a do or don’t video for any topic. For travel, you could create the “do’s and don’ts of packing a carry on.” For beauty, you could create the “do’s and don’ts of getting the perfect winged eyeliner.” For technology, you could create the “do’s and don’ts of taking care of your iPhone.”

DRNGO has a video that shows the do’s and don’ts of drawing. The video shows several different drawing techniques side by side and shows viewers how to correctly draw certain items and fix their mistakes. Viewers can easily compare their work to the correct version in the video, as well as the incorrect version.

10. Show Somebody Something

Tutorials are the tried and true vlog. While nearly every channel on YouTube has a tutorial video, that doesn’t mean creating one isn’t worth your time. If you have a product or service that people want to learn about and/or use, you could benefit from create a tutorial because providing helpful information will position yourself as knowledgeable in your industry and draw in more of your target audience. When you tie a tutorial to your own product, you make the tutorial as unique as you and your channel!

Alec Markarian created a Photoshop basics tutorial to teach beginners how to use the advanced software that can sometimes be overwhelming. He also offers different graphic packages on his website that people can use when designing things with the software he is teaching. Instead of just showing people how to use this software, he taught them how to use it with his graphics in mind.

11. Demonstrate Something New

Demonstrations are a lot like tutorials except they don’t always teach you something to do yourself. Demonstrations are a great way to get people excited to use a product. Since demonstrations don’t give everything away, the viewer will be left wanting more and they will be interested in buying your product. These types of vlogs can easily fit in with any channel’s theme.

Chris Ramsay sells his card tricks and uses YouTube to show people wha t the card trick looks like . Some things just can’t be understood by writing about it. Viewing the card trick in action automatically intrigues viewers and helps them know that that is the card trick they want to learn.

12. What Have You Done?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VwvLQmOb5Qc

An event recap is a great vlog to do if you find yourself going a lot of places or attending a lot of events. They give your viewers a small behind the scenes peek into your life while making them interested in the things that you do. They are also great if events are a large part of your business. Take an event planner, for instance. They plan these huge events and want to show them off. Instead of just taking pictures, they can get video footage of all the best parts instead of just ordinary pictures. It gives viewers something new to look at and the best part is, it showcases the event without giving away all the juicy details. Event recaps are great for travellers as well. You take all this time to plan and schedule a nice trip, so show off what you do! Take footage from everywhere you go and edit it together for a nice trip recap.

Aweber Email Marketing created an event recap for the 2014 ASCEND Digital Marketing Summit . The video shows the highlights of all speakers and events from the entire multi-day event so viewers can get a quick, condensed version. In doing so, the event recap teaches them about the event and peaks their interest in future summits.

13. Create a Compilation

Compilation videos are great if you have been vlogging a while. If you have, chances are you have a lot of videos to pull from and several of those videos will be on the same topic. You can use compilation videos to show how far you’ve come as a vlogger or to package a lot of similar information together that was previously in different videos. For travellers, a great compilation video would be “my top 10 international vacations.” For business vloggers, “my top 5 business tips” would make a good compilation video. For fashion vloggers, you could create a “top 8 fall outfits” vlog. And, let’s be honest, no footage is shot perfectly the first time around. So, why not package your previously wasted and unused footage into a blooper reel? Not only do you get to repurpose content, but you get another video out of it, as well!

Beauty Tricks has a video of the best 2018 makeup transformations. There are a wide variety of looks throughout this video that will keep the viewer watching until the very end. When creating your own compilation, try to stick to the best moments that you know people will want to see again if they’ve already watched the first video.

Great Vlogs Mean Great Money

Monetizing your YouTube is important! By doing so, you are able to increase your income and earn money by creating content that you love. Selling on YouTube is easier than you think. You can create a wide variety of digital products including ebooks, Lightroom presets, stock photography, and graphics, which can easily be sold through linking to your online store on a website such as Sellfy.
