Private wine tour.

For bachelorette parties, corporate events, birthdays, or other private events, a private wine tour will enable you and a much larger group to either do a wine tasting hike or a 4×4 vineyard tour together, with no outside parties able to book spots with your group!

This can be great for an experience that will more intimately accommodate you and your party. Have a group over 5 people? Rent multiple 4×4 vehicles with plenty of snacks and beverages for a more sizable group.

Lunch or further snacks may be catered in for your event, with our preferred local catering company, Blue Table, offering choices of sandwiches, salads, cheese and charcuterie boards, and dessert options for a party that may coincide with lunch or dinner.

California Through My Lens

Malibu Family Wines and Safari: Feed Yaks & Zebras at a Malibu Winery

Located in the hills above Agoura Hills, lies a 1,000 acre winery that is home to one of the only wine safaris I have ever heard of. This is in addition to the fantastic outdoor seating area, and the atmosphere they have at their traditional wine tasting counter, which makes for fun half-day adventure in the Malibu Hills. I mean, when have you got to feed Yaks and Zebras on the same day that you tasted upscale wine? Here is all the information.

Malibu Family Wines-1

  • Wine Safari prices vary but start at $65 for 90 minutes (As of 2016)
  • Busy on the weekends
  • Also offer hiking tours as well
  • Information as of 2016

Malibu Family Wines-27

When you arrive for the safari, you will be shown the awesome stadium-style seating jeep that you will be using for this adventure. They usher you onto the back property and then start the tour of the massive grounds.

Malibu Family Wines-7

The first animals we saw were the small herd of four buffalo that greet guests as they enter. I have always liked buffalo, so it was fun to see them up close.

Malibu Family Wines-6

Next, we went to the area where we got to interact with the animals and feed them. Our guides had a selection of carrots that we used to feed everything from alpacas and mini horses to yaks and zebras. It was great; here are some pictures.

Malibu Family Wines-9

I would have to say my personal favorite was the yak; he reminded me of my bulldog and seemed like a big teddy bear.

Malibu Family Wines-10

From there, the tour headed around the family’s house and past the giraffe, which was featured in Hangover 3, and a camel. We couldn’t interact with either of these, but they were still fun to see from afar.

Malibu Family Wines-19

The tour also has a few fun stops along the way, like the door to nowhere and a frame that “frames” one of the best views on the property.

Malibu Family Wines-17

About halfway through the tour, you will see a lake and a small house that we were told you could rent. This seems like it would be an enjoyable way to spend a night with friends on the property, and I might have to look into it more sometime in the future.

Malibu Family Wines-23

The bus continued to wind around the property until it stopped at a quaint little house that is one of the most used wedding spots on the property, and it is easy to see why.

Malibu Family Wines-24

The house has a bedroom and area for the bride and groom to get ready in it, and it overlooks the Conejo Valley.

Malibu Family Wines-25

Even the altar where the ceremony takes place is beautiful and minimalistic, making it perfect for a lovely wedding. Combine that with hills full of vineyards, and you have a great spot to get married or just to relax and take in the views.

Malibu Family Wines-26

This is where you will taste wine as well before heading back to the main area to taste the rest.

Malibu Family Wines-18

The Tasting Area

After heading back to the main area, we walked the ground to see some of the cool attractions they have here as well. One of the most famous is the wine sign that mimics the love sign in Pittsburg. It is heavily photographed, and you can see it at the top of this post.

Malibu Family Wines-29

They also have a wagon with a fish tank, lots of old cars and tons of seating, even an old school bus you can sit in.

Malibu Family Wines-3

The best part about it is that you can bring your own food in to have a makeshift picnic while on the grounds trying wine. It is by far one of the most fun wineries I have been to in a while.

Malibu Family Wines-28

All in all, Malibu Family Wines is a great way to get out of the city and spend a fun day with friends. I can’t wait to go again and would love to hear what you think in the comments.

Wine in the Wilderness 2024 runs from 6pm to 9pm on June 1st!

Everyone – regardless of age – will need to pass through our ID check when entering the zoo. Please make sure you keep you ID on you at all times!

Wine in the Wilderness is a Wine tasting event, and your ticket (unless you are a Designated Driver) will get you a wine glass and FREE tastings at ALL of the featured wineries. You will also be able to purchase bottles and other merchandise from these wineries should you want event more from them specifically.

We will have a number of featured market vendors at Wine in the Wilderness all selling a variety of different things. Stay tuned for a complete list of this year’s vendors soon!

This year there will be plenty of choices for food while here at the event so stay tuned to see what this year’s options will  be!

The main change this year will be the layout of the event as a whole! Due to prior years having crowd issues, we have opted to utilize more of the zoo this year to help spread the event out and let it breathe a little easier. Due to this, the event has been spread to our Backyards & Barnyards section, our Zebra View Pavilion, Our Eagle View Pavilion, and even closer to our Overlook (in addition to all the normal places i.e. the Rotary Pavilion, Plaza, and Watering Can Garden).

Smoking will be permitted at the event IN THE DESIGNATED SMOKING AREA. This area will be located between our Kookie’s Q and Rotary Pavilion. There will be signs clearly marking its location.

While we will have SOME space available to visitors to park at the zoo, we will have OVERFLOW parking at the Parkway Rec Center AND MVCC’s Payne Hall lot. These overflow areas WILL have shuttle buses running to and from them from 5pm until 10pm.

Tickets will be purchasable at their Pre-Sale rate up until 5pm on June 1st!

Tickets are available digitally through the links on this page OR through one of the many ticket selling locations around the area (see above).

While cash is NOT required to enjoy the event, some food trucks and vendors MAY require it. If you don’t bring cash with you, there will be and ATM located in our Visitor Center’s Gift Shop!

Due to needing a few hours to setup for the event, the zoo will close down at 1pm on June 1st. So if you are planning to visit the zoo during normal hours keep that in mind!

Ice Cube, Blues Traveler and Cake to play OKC's Zoo Amphitheatre this summer: What to know

zoo wine tour

The first round of concerts for this summer's season at Oklahoma City's legendary Zoo Amphitheatre has been revealed.

With the historic venue under new management and undergoing renovations, its team announced Tuesday morning a diverse lineup of five shows for August and September.

On Aug. 2, the 90-year-old outdoor stage will host Rock and Roll Hall of Fame rapper Ice Cube and his "Legends of Hip Hop Tour" featuring E-40 and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony .

Grammy Award winners Blues Traveler and platinum-selling rockers Big Head Todd and the Monsters will perform Aug. 3 at Zoo Amp.

British New Wave stalwarts Howard Jones and ABC , along with platinum-selling Brit-funk band Haircut One Hundred , will turn Aug. 24 into '80s night.

On Sept. 1 , Dirty Heads and Slightly Stoopid will bring reggae-rock to the Zoo Amphitheatre .

“The Distance" hitmakers Cake will perform at the revamped OKC venue on Sept. 8.

More summer concerts at the Zoo Amphitheatre are expected to be announced soon.

OKC's Zoo Amphitheatre undergoing infrastructure updates

The venerable venue at the Oklahoma City Zoo is undergoing infrastructure and facilities updates before this year's outdoor concert season begins, with a focus on retaining the amphitheater's history and integrity.

Last month, it was revealed that the Zoo Amp has brought on a seasoned local management team with the backing of national partners SaveLive to produce the 2024 concert season and beyond. SaveLive also manages the OKC venues The Criterion, Tower Theatre, Beer City Music Hall and Ponyboy.

The Zoo Amphitheatre's storied history dates back to 1933, when construction started on the venue as part of the Civilian Conservation Corps , an economic recovery program established to provide jobs during the Great Depression.

Over the past nine decades, the amphitheater has hosted concerts by some of the top names in music, including Marvin Gaye, Willie Nelson, Chicago, ZZ Top, Grateful Dead, Sting, Dire Straits, the Steve Miller Band, Santana, Judas Priest, Joni Mitchell, Heart, Lynyrd Skynyrd and iconic Oklahomans the late JJ Cale, Vince Gill , the late Toby Keith and The Flaming Lips .

The newly announced shows will be the first concerts at the legendary venue since Oklahoma pop-punk band The All-American Rejects performed there last October.

When will tickets go on sale to this summer's Zoo Amphitheatre shows?

Tickets for the newly announced August and September shows at Zoo Amp go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, April 12.

A venue presale will launch at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 11.

To buy tickets, register for the presale and get more information, go to http://www.okczooamp.com .

Fans also can follow the venue on Facebook at facebook.com/okczooamp and on Instagram at instagram.com/okczooamp .
