Take A Factory Tour Of Germany’s Famous Automobiles

Filed in Innovations , Travel Tips

If there’s something that Germany is famous for — apart from its delectable sausage and excellent beer — it’s cars ! And when you visit Germany, even if it’s not to buy a new Mercedes or BMW, you can still take in the car culture with a factory tour at one of the famous manufacturers.

Visit the BMW factory in the city of Regensburg , which is in the Upper Palatinate . About 10,000 people work at this plant where they have produced 3 million of some of the finest series of BMW, since 1986, like the Series 1, 3, M3 and even some specialized cars for police use.

There’s a two-hour tour for visitors and car-enthusiasts to see the inner workings of the BMW plant. The tour will take you along the assembly lines, as you watch the different pieces of the car be melded by the robots on the conveyor belts.

And, if this isn’t enough BMW action for you, then be sure to visit the official BMW Museum in Munich . The building is shaped like a huge bowl and features interesting facts about the past, present and future of this famous machine.

Mercedes-Benz

The Mercedes-Benz factory can be found near Stuttgart , in the lesser-known town of Sindelfingen . The plant offers a two-hour tour of its facilities where you can see the making of a Mercedes with a front-row view. There’s more robots and assembly lines here, building incredible machines at an unbelievable rate of speed.

This factory has a reputation as one of the world’s most reliable auto plants. Whereas most factories report 118 errors per 100 cars, Mercedes-Benz in Sindelfingen had just 33 errors.

Like BMW, there is also a museum dedicated to everything Mercedes. The Mercedes museum in Stuttgart houses some of the world’s oldest cars, including (naturally!) the first-ever Mercedes. Race cars, limousines and sports cars from throughout the 20th century are all on display here.

This other world-famous car company has two factories that can be visited on your tour to Germany. And both are certain to leave you not only better-informed but also impressed. Volkswagen has one of its factories, the Autostadt , in Wolfsburg . This auto plant is the largest of its kind in the whole world (according to VW)! With 23,000 employees, 75 km (46 mi) of road, 4,000 cars produced a day and well over 1,000 robots, their claims seem to be well-founded. Volkswagen says that the entire country of Monaco could fit within its borders.

In addition to size, it also boasts some excellent amenities, including a large butcher shop that reputedly produces over one million currywurst every year. You can take a 50-minute tour via panorama train to learn more.

Not to be outdone by the behemoth Autostadt, Dresden’s Transparent Factory is equally impressive but in an entirely different way. The Transparent Factory aims to be elegant and beautiful as the plant where the VW Phaeton is produced. With glass walls and a location right next to the Botanical Gardens, the Transparent Factory combines aesthetics with quality vehicles.

Both this factory and the Autostadt were designed by the same architect, Dr. Gunter Henn.

Porsche’s web site offers virtual tours of its manufacturing plants on its Web site. You can visit the real factory in Leipzig as well but you must make an advanced booking in order to go.

If you don’t have the foresight to make a reservation, you can still get the fast-paced experience with a visit to the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen. There are over eighty different interesting cars on display here, including the world’s first hybrid car produced in 1900. You can catch a glimpse of the Porsche production line here with a visit to the museum’s workshop.

Head to the city of Ingolstadt to visit the headquarters of Audi. This Audi plant has the distinction of being their biggest facility, as well as the corporate HQ.

The tours here are given in German as well as English and are about two hours long. You’ll get a great idea of the behind the scenes workings of a car manufacturing plant and you can choose which part of the plant you’d like to tour. Decide among the body shop, paint shop or the production line when you book your tour.

Extraordinary such factory tours for technique lovers. I think I’ll convince some friends who enjoy experiencing various traditional crafts too (pottery, wood, leather) to take a vacation in Germany, if we’ll find solutions to mix such attractions.

Today, car enthusiasts will find many opportunities to celebrate the Auto in Germany: From car museums and car factory tours, to scenic drives, race tracks, and the Autobahn, here are the best places to enjoy the best of Germany's cars.

BMW World Munich

For BMW fans, Munich offers no less than three points of interest, all in walking distance from each other: The BMW Museum, which traces back the history of the famous car; the architectural masterpiece "BMW World", which is the delivery center for BMWs and also houses exhibition halls, design ateliers, and workshops for kids; and of course the BMW plant itself, which offers fascinating tours: Put on your safety goggles and factory coats and watch how giant conveyors lift the 3-series BMW to be welded by computer-controlled robots.

Volkswagen Factory Wolfsburg

The Volkswagen factory in Wolfsburg prides itself in being the largest auto plant in the world. Its adjacent “Autostadt” (car city) is a theme park dedicated to the automobile and offers everything car enthusiasts of all ages dream about. There is a huge car museum, several pavilions dedicated to various VW models, driving courses for adults and kids, restaurants, a hotel, and of course the factory itself, which offers interesting tours. Another highlight: Embark on a glass elevator which takes you to the top of the 160 feet high glass Car Tower; they hold up to 800 custom-ordered cars, which are picked up by their buyers fresh from the factory.

Racetrack Nuerburgring

If you love speed, head to Germany’s most famous racetrack, the Nuerburgring; established in 1927, it has been regarded as the toughest Grand Prix circuit of all. The “Ring” home of the Formula 1 world championships, offers plenty of opportunity for Michael Schumacher fans to experience the thrill of racing first hand. You can drive laps in your own car, hop on a speedy BMW Ring Taxi, visit an interactive exhibition, or take safety-driving classes. There are even two hotels overlooking the start and finish line of the race track.

Scenic Drives in Germany

If prefer love a slower pace, then make the journey your reward and take a road trip. Germany offers many scenic drives and themed roads that will lead you past quaint villages, medieval castles, and unspoiled countryside. From the Romantic Road , and the Castle Road , to the Fairy Tale Road , and the Wine Route , check out the roads best traveled in Germany.

Trabi Sightseeing

The last new “Trabi”, the car produced in the former GDR, hit the road in 1991, but the vehicle has gained cult status in Germany ever since; although the Trabi is neither fast nor efficient, the cute car has sentimental value and is a powerful symbol of a time gone-by. Most Trabis, which have plastic shells and smoky two-stroke engines, disappeared from Germany’s streets, but you can still experience the Trabi on special sightseeing tours in Berlin , where you can get behind the wheel of the cult car yourself.

Renting a Car in Germany

Do you want to rent a car and fly down the German Autobahn? Check out our tips and find helpful information to get the best rental car for your trip through Germany.

Frankfurt International Motor Show

The International Motor Show, which takes place in Frankfurt every other year, showcases the latest, fastest, and most sustainable in auto technology. Visitors can not only marvel at the displayed cars, but also get behind the wheels during free test runs on Frankfurt’s roads, including the Autobahn. For more hands-on experience, the Motor Show also features an outdoor go-kart track, off-road courses, and eco-training classes.

Updated on  September 4, 2023

Finding a unique travel experience can be challenging, particularly if you are an automobile enthusiast. I know the feeling all too well as a fellow traveler and car lover!

That's why I dug deep into the famous Ford factory tour in Cologne, Germany - a site which boasts housing innovative machines from around the world as well as churning out popular models like the Ford Fiesta.

In this post, we'll delve into what makes this tour special - its history, significance, and transformative journey to becoming an electric vehicle assembly plant. Ready for an exciting ride?

Background of the Ford Factory in Cologne

History and significance.

Established in 1931, the Ford factory ingrained itself into Cologne's fabric, setting the cornerstone for industrialization and economic growth. [ 1 ]

Its role during World War II remains controversial due to alleged ties with the Nazis, marking a dark period in its history.

Standing tall at Niehl district headquarters, it represents an iconic symbol of Germany’s automotive manufacturing prowess and is reminiscent of Ford's enduring legacy worldwide.

Overview of the production process

At the heart of Ford's Cologne factory lies a fascinating production process. It's here where cutting-edge car models like the Ford Fiesta and Explorer come to life. Everyday, around 4,090 hourly workers expertly maneuver through assembly lines, breathing life into these models.

Their skills synonymize with precision engineering at its finest.

In a transformative move towards sustainable vehicle production, Ford invested an impressive $2 billion in 2023 to revamp the Niehl plant into an idyllic hub for electric vehicle (EV) production. [ 2 ]

This new ambitious stride has led them to explorative initiatives such as E-SELF project - paving way for what will soon be known as the Ford Cologne EV Centre. [ 3 ]

The ongoing transformation signifies not just manufacturing conquests but also a steadfast commitment towards shaping greener future mobility trends.

Benefits of Taking a Ford Factory Tour

Insight into automotive manufacturing.

At the Ford Factory in Cologne, I witnessed firsthand how next-level efficiency and innovation come together to create iconic vehicles like the Ford F-150 truck.

The sheer scale of operations is astounding with a global network of 61 factories producing a variety of models contributing to a significant market share.

Moreover, from their commitment to zero-emission production processes to their dedication towards creating ultra-efficient manufacturing systems, Ford's automotive manufacturing insight displays an inspiring commitment towards sustainability too.

It’s not just about building cars; it’s about shaping the future.

The company focuses on sustainable practices such as reducing carbon emissions, increasing energy efficiency, and using renewable energy sources. You'll also learn about their commitment to community engagement and environmental stewardship.

By witnessing firsthand how Ford incorporates high-performance technology, energy conservation, and sustainable materials sourcing into their manufacturing processes, you'll see how they are transitioning to clean energy and making a positive impact on the environment.

Opportunity to see iconic Ford vehicles up close

As a traveler, one of the biggest benefits of taking a Ford Factory Tour is the opportunity to see iconic Ford vehicles up close.

Whether you're a fan of classic Mustangs or interested in the latest models, this tour allows you to get an intimate look at these iconic cars.

You can admire their sleek designs, marvel at their engineering, and even sit inside some of them. It's an experience that automotive enthusiasts won't want to miss.

During the tour, you'll have the chance to walk through the production facility and witness firsthand how these vehicles are manufactured.

From welding robots assembling car bodies to automated systems installing engines and interiors, you'll gain insight into every step of the automotive manufacturing process.

This behind-the-scenes access provides a unique perspective on the craftsmanship and precision that goes into creating each Ford vehicle.

Furthermore, as you explore the factory, you'll learn about Ford's commitment to sustainability and environmental initiatives.

The company has made significant strides in reducing its carbon footprint and implementing sustainable practices throughout its manufacturing operations.

Why You Should Take a Factory Tour on Your Next Trip to Europe. Yes, a Factory Tour.

T here’s something about seeing age-old traditional crafts being made and learning about the people who choose to keep these skills alive. But it can be equally interesting – and arguably even more valuable – to know how the things we use every day are made.

Touring the facilities that produce the clothes we wear and the cars we drive helps us not only appreciate those things on a deeper level, but also to make better choices as consumers. It also turns out that these modern factories can be as important to a place as leather is to Florence . Portugal has been producing textiles since the 18th century, after all, and can you really imagine Stuttgart without Porsche?

Factory tours are also a lesson in ultimate efficiency. Until I toured Volvo’s factory outside of Gothenburg, Sweden, I didn’t think about the fact that wooden blocks are more comfortable to stand on than concrete and wood absorbs oil stains better.

That kind of direct look serves both the companies and the viewers: by showing you their sustainable and worker-oriented credentials, companies get to burnish their brand. By having you there watching it, companies are also under more pressure to really walk the walk. So go ahead and book a factor tour (and you really do need to book these tours in advance) the next time you’re in Europe to see how things are made.

1. Porsche factory tour in Stuttgart, Germany

STUTTGART- ZUFFENHAUSEN, GERMANY - JULY 6, 2017: Porscheplatz, where is located a futuristic sculpture composed of three iconic generations of the Porsche 911 model, in front of Porsche Factory.

In the Zuffenhausen area of Stuttgart, Porsche offers factory tours that include a visit to The Porsche Museum , which has nearly 100 beautiful vehicles to drool over. The museum entrance fee is 10€ (about $10) and 5€ for students, kids, and seniors.

The tour allows you to “accompany a sports car through production and experience the perfect symbiosis of tradition and modernity,” says Frank Wiesmann, a product communications manager of Porsche North America.

His wording might sound corporate, but Porsche has in fact been making luxury and race cars since 1948, so they do hew to values of craftsmanship and quality. Porsche cars are also some of the world’s most innovative, and the factory is a good place to see all that come together.

“Visitors are typically fascinated by the experience,” Wiesmann says, particularly when the car’s “body is connected to the drivetrain and chassis.” The tour gives some insight into “Porsche Production 4.0,” a method of building cars that he says is “smart, lean and green.”

You can go even greener and get a tour of the fully electric Porsche Taycan’s assembly and painting process. You’ll start at the Porsche Museum foyer and take a bus to your destination. The two-hour tours are €15 per adult, with €6 for 14-18 year-olds and free under 14. Children under eight aren’t permitted on the tours.

2. Porsche factory tour and drive in Leipzig, Germany

MINSK, BELARUS - SEPTEMBER 2, 2018: Porsche Panamera e-hybrid porsche exprerience road tour

Photo: XRISTOFOROV Shutterstock

Porsche manufactures its Panamera and Macan models in Leipzig in eastern Germany. You can see the whole production process there and, just as in Stuttgart, be amazed by the sophisticated robotic machinery, the places where the human touch is still essential, and other elements of putting together a car that you just haven’t seen before. The 90-minute tour is for people aged 14 and up and costs €12.

The real reason to go out to Leipzig for the tour though is the part that comes afterward, if you’re willing to pay the money: You can ride “co-pilot” in a Panamera or in a GT3 Cup race car driven by a professional driver in a private track. (Helmets are obligatory for the GT3 Cup drives). The cost is €110 for the Panamera and €250 for the GT3 Cup. Coupled with the factory tour, the whole experience takes three hours.

3. Getzer textile factory tour in Bludenz, Austria

The Getzer Textile Factory was founded more than two hundred years ago in Bludenz, Austria. Today, Getzer says it’s a leading maker of “dressmaking damasks, fashion fabrics, and technical textiles.” For the consumer, the point of visiting a factory like this is to see a textile making process that is actually Earth friendly.

Getzer has received a bluesign certificate since 2006 for its shirt fabrics, damasks, and corporate apparel – and the company goes through recertification every three years. The bluesign idea of producing fabrics with the lowest environmental impact was conceived in Switzerland in 1997 and outdoor-wear companies like Mammut are bluesign certified. For Getzer, the means the fibers, chemicals, and dyes it uses meet strict ecological standards.

Contact the company directly , at least two months ahead of time, to have them organize a walking tour of the factory that lasts between 90 minutes and two hours. You’ll visit the weaving preparation area, the weaving mill, the finishing area, and the dying mill.

4. BMW factory tour in Munich, Germany

Munich, Germany- December 1, 2018: blue BMW M850i xDrive Cabrios are on production line

Photo: classic topcar Shutterstock

There’s plenty of things to see in Munich, one of Matador’s favorite second cities in Europe – among them excellent museums, sprawling castles, and, in summer, welcoming beer gardens. While you’re there, you should add in a visit to the BMW factory , which has been churning out world-class cars for over a century. You can combine the tour with the visit to the 534,000-square-foot BMW Museum, which costs €10 for adults and €7 for seniors, students, and youth. Among its stunning collection of new and classic cars is one used in a James Bond film.

The factory tour itself, which is only for ages six and up, lasts 90 minutes and costs €14 for adults and €11 for students, seniors, and youth. While the Porsche tour is on a bus, the BMW tour has you walking. The nice part about that is you can get really close in some places, and spend longer in certain spots. But be prepared to walk almost two miles.

5. Volvo factory tour in Göthenburg, Sweden

GOTHENBURG, SWEDEN - MAY 08, 2018: Volvo Sign in Gothenburg. Volvo manufactures trucks, buses and construction machinery.

Göthenburg is another visit-worthy second city, with opulent 17th and 18th century architecture, bustling cobbled streets, and inviting cafes to duck into when the weather invariably gets cold. Just outside town, Volvo has been making cars since 1927.

Today, the Volvo factory is an interesting place to see Nordic values at work. It is also surprisingly quiet in the factory. Note that factory tours are also not available over the summer months.

Starting in 2015, Volvo extended its eco-commitment to the cars themselves when it launched its first hybrid. It now plans to build only electric cars by 2030, phasing out all cars with internal combustion engines. You can see all of this in process for SEK 125 ($12) on a factory tour that you take on a little cart. Because you’re on the cart, you can’t linger long in any one area, but seeing huge slabs of steel become finished cars by the time your tour ends is very memorable.

6. ISTO organic clothing factory tours in northern Portugal

The organic clothing manufacturer ISTO touts the transparency of its sustainable products and the production process itself. It endeavors to back it up with free tours of not just one factory, but of many of the suppliers it works with in northern Portugal from the cities of Braga and Porto to Benedita and Serra da Estrela. It calls the effort “Factourism.”

Unlike automotive factory tours, ISTO tours don’t happen on a regular basis. You’ll have to register to participate in a tour when they are open to the public. Because ISTO is committed to working with independent operators it can trust, some of the factories you’ll see will in fact feel like artisan workshops. The family-owned NGS MALHAS has only 25 employees and makes top-quality jersey fabric, whereas the family-owned MODCOM has even fewer workers who sew lightweight jackets and other linen apparel for ISTO.

The ISTO tour will take you through more sizable factory floors as well. The Label Factory ETILABEL has 180 employees and they just make labels. But they are OEKO-TEK certified, which is why ISTO uses them exclusively for their own labels. ISTO also works with knitwear manufacturers like A. Ferreira & Filhos and a leather maker, Olhamar.

Best Car Museums to Visit in Germany

Bmw welt & museum, munich.

Adjacent to each other on the BMW campus in Munich, the BMW Welt and Museum (Welt means world) serve two distinct purposes. The museum tells the history of BMW as a brand specifically, showing the technical development all through their company’s history.

The museum currently presents 120 exhibits in the space of 5,000 square meters creating the best car scene in Germany.

It is composed of engines, motorcycles, aircraft, turbines, and vehicles in multiple variations. There are futuristic looking conceptual models from as far back as twenty years ago, in addition to the actual models.

The Welt, on the other side, showcases current production cars across the spectrum of the entire BMW Group (including Rolls Royce and Mini) as well as pre-production and concept cars. It is essentially a giant showroom, so the cars you see are available for sale and many models can be rented by the hour. If your driving skills are a little rusty or you’d like to hone your technique, you can even take a lesson from a driving professional.

There are also exquisite cafes and restaurants in the building. You can even pick up your brand new BMW, Rolls Royce, or Mini straight off the production line here.

Mercedes-Benz Museum, Stuttgart

The company we now know as Mercedes Benz is widely credited for inventing the modern automobile, which traces its beginnings to the Benz Patent-Motorwagen. Built in 1885 by the German Carl Benz, it was a self-propelled vehicle for carrying people, widely regarded as the world’s first practical automobile and the first car put into series production. It was patented and unveiled in 1886, and the original cost of the vehicle was 600 imperial Germany marks, approximately 150 US dollars (equivalent to $4,524 in 2021).

The primary museum structure was designed by Dutch architect Ben van Berkel and opened in 2006. The museum has been designed like a double-helix with a clover leaf pattern. The exhibits it houses include 160 vehicles and over 1,500 displays on any given day. It claims to be the only museum in the world that can document, in a single continuous timeline, about 150 years of auto industry history starting from the first product created in 1886. The shell of the museum is made of glass and aluminum. Exhibit space is spread over nine floors, encompassing a total of 17604 square feet.

Most displays are strictly hands off, although a few are served up for visitors to enjoy more directly, such as a massive, multi-colored school bus, which classes of visiting students are allowed to board.

Many of the motorsport display vehicles are arranged on a banked track-shaped exhibit floor. You’ll see the earliest Mercedes Benz racing cars up to today’s Lewis Hamilton F1 machines.

Among the most popular of museum attractions is the SL 320 previously owned and driven by Princess Diana. Just behind Diana’s red roadster is one of the famous armored Pope Mobiles previously provided to the Vatican by Mercedes-Benz.

By the time you reach the lower floors, which house the various restaurants and the museum shop, you’ll have traveled through more than 130 years of automobile history, as lived and written by Mercedes-Benz.

Porsche Museum, Stuttgart

Porsche Museum is yet another awe inspiring car museum in Stuttgart. It is located just across town in a place called Zuffenhausen, which is easily accessible even by public transportation.

This breathtaking architectural wonder officially opened to the public on January 31, 2009, so it isn’t many years past its 10th birthday. The design of this remarkable facility is credited to Viennese architect Delugan Meissl, and written descriptions barely do it justice; photos help tell the story, but you have to stand at the entrance and see it in person to grasp the sheer power of the design concept.

The museum comprises 5600 square feet of exhibit space, plus an immaculate workshop and storage, a truly world-class steak restaurant, the company’s archives, a comprehensive museum shop, and other miscellaneous spaces. There’s a full service Porsche dealer just across the driveway from the museum proper, and a variety of Porsche factory office and assembly buildings surround the museum site.

Visitors are led on a remarkable journey that takes into account the company’s model lineup evolution, to include tractors (called Scheleppers), military vehicles, and the genesis of the company’s efforts in Motorsports. It includes everything from hill climbs and rallies to Les Mans, Indy Car racing, and Formula 1.

Besides the depth, breadth, and beauty of nearly everything you see, you’ll be impressed with how few of the cars are surrounded by ropes, and stanchions. Naturally, no touching is allowed, but you’ll in many cases enjoy clean, unobstructed looks at each exhibit, and equally clear photo ops. The signage is informative, without being over the top or taking too long to read, and there are a variety of hands-on learning experiences for the youngsters.

The huge open elevator, also called paternoster , is one of the museum’s distinctive features. It offers constantly changing views of various models manufactured from the 20th century to date.

In the museum you get to learn the history and success story of Audi and motor racing through hands-on, interactive exhibits and over 100 impeccably maintained cars and motorbikes.

August Horch Museum, Zwickau

Zwickau was the Detroit of the former German Democratic Republic and it has been a manufacturing point for automobiles since 1909. Beginning with Horch, on to the formation of Auto Union, then the ubiquitous two-stroke Trabent during the cold war period, and on to a modern Volkswagen plant in the city today. This museum tells the whole story.

It is a very nice place to visit and a good reason to explore this area of the former East Germany. The museum is attractive and the cars are lovingly displayed.

Classic Remise, Berlin

This is an interesting and very different sort of automotive display. Not actually a museum at all, this is a collection of cars owned by individuals and by dealers, some being offered for sale, some being stored, and others being restored on the site by shops that are there for that purpose. All this is housed in an historic late-19th-century train maintenance facility.

Admissions is not charged, there is a nice restaurant on site, and the whole experience is unique and enjoyable. Naturally, the collection on display will vary at any given time.

There is another Classic Remise located in Dusseldorf.

Racetrack Nurburgring, Nurburg

If you love speed, head to Germany’s most famous racetrack, the Nurburgring. Established in 1927, it has been regarded as the toughest Grand Prix circuit of all.

The classic original track is 14 miles and called the Nordschleife. It consists of winding, narrow, country roads that were once the most terrifying motor racing track in history. The track was deemed “too dangerous for competitive racing” but you can still experience the track in your own car.

There are several versions of the Nurburgring track, but most car enthusiasts are usually attracted to the classic 14-miler and the modern day Grand Prix track called the “Ring.”

Home to the Formula 1 world championships, Nurburgring offers plenty of opportunity for Michael Schumacher fans to experience the thrill of racing first hand.

You can drive laps in your own car, hop in a speedy BMW Ring Taxi, visit an interactive exhibit, or take safety-driving classes. There are even two hotels overlooking the start and finish line of the race track.

The Autobahn

Short for Bundesautobahn, which means roughly “federal motorway” in German, the autobahn isn’t a particular stretch of road or track, but rather just what you’d call a freeway in German.

What makes Germany’s autobahn stand out is that, outside of sections that are urban or undergoing construction, the 130 km/hour speed posted (about 80 mph) isn’t actually a legal limit, but rather a suggestion. This means that about 70% of highways crisscrossing Germany are technically available for you to drive as fast as you please.

Many tourists opt to rent a sports car by the hour or for the day from one of Germany’s iconic brands just to test the limits of its performance on Germany’s open roads, and you can, too!

The V8 Hotel Motorworld Region Stuttgart, Boblingen

As we have seen, Stuttgart, the city about two hours from Frankfurt in southwest Germany, is the destination city for auto enthusiasts. It has the speedy Autobahn on its doorstep, is the home to the headquarters of Mercedes and Porsche, and it seems like everywhere there’s a gleaming Maserati or Ferrari driving by.

Along with the two Stuttgart car museums, there is also a car-themed hotel nearby in the heart of the Motorworld region.

The V8 Hotel has more than 150 rooms between two separate buildings including 26 car-themed suites. Absolutely no detail was overlooked: from the benches and lobby desk modeled after a car’s interior to a light installation and coffee tables fashioned out of hubcaps.

In the themed rooms, chairs mimic tailgates and helmets and room numbers are marked by custom license plates. Each one is unique and designed by artists who source genuine salvaged vehicles to create beds from Porsches and Jaguars that are past their prime.
