I love using Mt. Hood Outfitters, they are so great. The first time I used them was perhaps over 7 years ago, we rented some Stand-Up-Paddleboards around on Trillium Lake, and the service was great, and the equipment was really great. We did that twice through them, circa 2014. And, recently we were camping at Clackamas Lake for an Ultra-Trail Race in July, and we decided to rent a canoe on a whim at Timothy Lake. Once, we found out where the Outfitters were set up by the Dam, they were really easy to work with. We were able to run a credit card, and they provided life jackets- we were even able to take our doggo with us (who had a life jacket). And, the whole transaction took less than 5 minutes, and we were on the lake! It was really low key, and low pressure, and convienent. I will definitely be using this company in the future. I also would speculate some of the other reviews were for different look-alike-sound-alike company names, perhaps they were not Mt. Hood Outfitters. They are the perfect component to a great summer vacation day!

We had an amazing experience with Sam our guide. Very knowledgeable and personable. He was truly the BEST.

Go up with to the mountain regularly. Used to be the our favorite places to go but the last few times we have used them it has been terrible, unreliable customer service.

Photo of Brandi J.

Friends and I rented snow shoes for the day and had a great experience here. Service was quick and the lady who helped us was friendly. It was $20 a piece to rent snow shoes and poles. The lady who helped us also gave lots of good recommendations for snowshoeing trails and had maps to hand out. Definitely recommend!

**I didn't take advantage of any tours during our short trip to Mt. Hood, OR. I am leaving this review as more of a PSA. I SHOULD have taken advantage of a tour, as Mt. Hood is really large and hard to see by yourself, if you don't know what to expect or what to see. We had a great time driving around and checking out a few waterfalls, but I would have loved to have done a tour. I will make sure to do this the next time I visit!

New management sucks. We rented a cabin and were told a sled came with the cabin and we were to call Mt. Hood Adventure and they would rent us another one for $40. We got here and Joe said it would be $20 a day which added up to $80!!! Are you kidding me?? He then said for how much the sleds costs $20 doesn't cover their costs. I looked up the same sled online and it was less than $100. The sled he gave us is wore down and has duct tape all along the bottom. He was not accommodating to us at all. Mind you there is very little snow on the ground and from what I can tell he was not making any money and wanted to take advantage of us. DONT GO HERE for any kind of rental!!!

Photo of Brooke G.

Sarah was one of the best tour guides my boyfriend and I ever had. She was open, kind, engaging, knowledgeable, and showed us where the best donuts in the entire world were. Before booking our adventure we told Sarah we wanted to explore nature and see some waterfalls without going on an extreme or strenuous hike. She listed and took us on the most incredible sites on Mt. Hood while providing us with history, fun facts, and cool stories on the origins of trees and acorns. If you need to see a lot in one day she's very good at expediting the trip without making anything feel rushed. My boyfriend didn't have hiking boots and he was able to borrow some from the shop. There's delicious food on top of the mountain too. We can't wait to go back to Portland and explore Mt. Hood even more. Thank you Sarah and thank you Mt. Hood adventures.

Photo of Fritz O.

It is my general expectation that a rental shop should be knowledgeable of the conditions in the area and outfit their guest accordingly. We drove up from Portland for the day to go snowshoeing and stopped in here to rent gear and get an idea of a good place to go. The staff completely unaware of the trails in the area and if any sort of parking permit was required. We rented snowshoes based on their recommendation (GUESS) only to leave them in the car once we reached the trail head. When we came back and told them about the conditions and that they should let others know accordingly they offered no refund or credit even when promoted citing "policy". I guess it is also policy to lie about being and "outfitter", don't go here unless you feel like wasting money.

We did The Crosstown Mountain Bike Tour with Jules as our main guide and Sam as an instructor in training and they were both great! Mandy, who helped us coordinate everything, was on the ball and beyond helpful answering all of our questions promptly via email. Jules and Sam were super knowledgeable and made us feel at ease as this was our first time mountain biking. The trail is about 3 miles long and loops around Government Camp. Some great downhill opportunities with plenty of uphill to kick your butt. Both instructors were great cheerleaders for us and never made us feel bad if we had to take a break or walk up a hill. These guys know their stuff and we highly recommend!

The lines for the adventure park were ridiculous. They kept saying that they are short staffed and have been for several days. Fine, then give us $20 off or. Free pass or free meal. Everyone was complaining, including the people who work there. I would never buy the pass again. In six hours, We only got onto three attractions and the alpine slide.
