The local currency in Morocco is the dirham. There are ATMs in the city, but many are unavailable after banks close for the day. You can withdraw cash at the ATM located adjacent to the cruise terminal, or exchange currency once inside the old city walls. Cruise Port Guide Tangier – Morocco: docked

The cruise ships dock at the port of Tangier. This dock are about 1,5 km away from the old Medina or city centre. This is about 20 minute walk from the ship. Most often the ships do not provide a shuttle service into town, but check this information with the front office on board. The facilities on the dock are limited. There is no tourist information, no maps, no hop on hop off bus and no wi-fi at the port. There are limited forms of transportation to find in Tangier. Expect that taxis will be plentiful but local transportation is limited. Walking to town is easy and the only way to explore the Medina is by foot. However, if you want to go further afield, we recommend a organised tour or perhaps a taxi tour. Taxis are available at about a ship length walk. Expect that a ride to the city will cost you about 5 euro.  Taxi tours run for about 10 euro per hour. Taxis will take Dirham (local currency), Euro and US dollars.

The Kasbah is the old fortress and citadel that needed to protect the Medina. It is build on the highest point in Tangier. From here you can excellent views over the coast line. The history behind this building is also fascinating. The road to the Kasbah: When you are exploring the Medina you will come across the most scenic and unusual streets. It is quite hard to find your way up the Kasbah, but when you see this gate you know you are walking in the right direction. Always remember: The Kasbah is up, the port is down. From the Kasbah (the highest point of the Medina) you will also find beautiful panoramic views over the coastline. You can also see your ship in port from here.

Grand taxis: In Tangier you have two different type of taxis. The grand and the petit taxi. The grand taxi you will recognise because they are usually beige Mercedes sedans. These are the taxis that can take you for a tour around the area. Make sure to negotiate before you step in. Petit taxis: The smaller (and cheaper) taxis you will recognise by the blue color like you see on this picture. Keep in mind these taxis are not allowed to leave the city. When you want to take a ride within the city this taxi is perfect, but when you want to take a tour to get to other cities you will need to take a grand taxi.

Next to the Kasbah at the highest point of the Medina you will find this beautiful museum. You will find a collection of art form all over Morocco here. It displays carpets, silks from Fez, manuscripts and much more. The former kitchen is occupied by the Museum of Antiquities where you will find a Carthaginian tomb, finding from ancient Roman sites and much more.

In Morocco when talking about the Medina you are talking about the old town. In this case the Medina dates back from the 14th century that is still in very good condition. This is without doubt the most fascinating part of the city. It is overflowing with food stalls and vendors. They sell anything from spices, textiles, flowers to souvenirs. The Medina is quite big and it is easy to get lost in for the fact that it is one gigantic maze. Lots of locals are willing to tour you around the Medina. Feel free to say no.

When you leave the port you can see the Medina right in front of you. If you dock at the normal spot you take a left to find the entrance to the Medina from where you can also take this picture. At the entrance of the Medina you will find information signs like this. Why not spend a moment or 2 looking at it to decipher the Medina. Remember: up is the the Kasbak, down is the the exit.

Petit Socco or “Little square” is in the middle of the Medina. It was one one of the greatest souks in all of Morocco. People would come here from miles around to buy food an clothes. In the 19th century the area grew wealthier and in the beginning of the 20th century many prominent men would come here to catch up on their gossip. Ville Nouveau is the part of town that nowadays own that position, but Petit Socco is still a nice square to hang around for a cup of tea or coffee and to befriend a stranger or two.

Are you taking a day trip to Tangier by cruise ship or ferry? Here are eleven awesome things to do in Tangier, Morocco!

Whether you call it Tangier or Tanger (some people even call it Tangiers), this lovely port city at the northern tip of Morocco has so much to offer.

The city of Tangier is a great place to get a taste of North Africa, so unsurprisingly it’s an incredibly popular tourist destination. You can reach Tangier Ville port , just steps from the lively city, via cruise ship or a short ferry trip from Tarifa, Spain.

Located on the Strait of Gibraltar where the Mediterranean Sea meets the Atlantic Ocean, the Moroccan city has long been a haven for artists and writers due to its fascinating mix of cultures.

Even if you only have the chance to see Tangier on a day trip or weekend city break, you can absolutely fit in lots of the must-dos in Tangier during your visit.

1. Explore the Caves of Hercules

Not far from Tanger Ville port by taxi or bus are the fabled Caves of Hercules , where ancient Greek and Roman mythology said the hero slept before embarking on his quest to steal golden apples from the nearby Hesperides Garden.

The caves are partly natural and partly man-made, formed via erosion as well as from human excavation. Archaeologists believe that the Phoenicians created the keyhole opening that faces the sea, known as the “Map of Africa” due to its shape.

Berber tribespeople also opened up parts of the cave complex in more modern times, cutting into the rock walls and ceilings to make millstones.

The Hercules Caves have been a popular tourist attraction in Tangier since they opened to the public in the 1920s. In 1952, the Moroccan government declared the caves a National Heritage site.

2. Sip a glass of traditional Moroccan mint tea

Made from green tea, fresh mint leaves, and copious amounts of sugar, mint tea is the national drink of Morocco. You’ll see it everywhere in Tangier, and you need to try it (even if you’re not usually a tea drinker).

You can order mint tea at practically every restaurant. In fact, if you just order “tea”, this is what you’ll get! If your server pours your tea at the table, don’t be surprised if they hold the teapot up super-high. It’s considered a sign of welcome and respect!

Tip: If you don’t like your tea to be overwhelmingly sugary, just ask for it to be made with less sugar. They won’t be offended! Many waiters actually asked me if I wanted my mint tea less sugary before I had a chance to request it.

3. Visit the American Legation Museum

If you’re visiting Tangier from the United States, you won’t want to miss spending an hour or two at the gorgeous American Legation Museum . It’s the only US National Historic Landmark located in a foreign country!

Ties between the US and Morocco go way back, as Sultan Mohammed ben Abdallah recognized American independence from Great Britain on December 20, 1777. Morocco was the very first country to do this.

The building that now houses the museum was given by the sultan to the US government as a diplomatic post, and that’s how it was used for the next 140 years. Since 1976, the building has served as a cultural center, museum, and research library.

The American Legation Museum features several stories full of artwork, furnishings, and memorabilia focusing on the history and ties between the two countries. There’s also a fascinating exhibit on the American expat writer and composer Paul Bowles, who lived in Tangier for over 50 years.

4. Relax on the beach

Tangier offers some beautiful beaches, and Tangier Beach (known locally as Plage Municipale) is within walking distance of the cruise and ferry port. A 25-minute stroll along the waterfront will land you at a gorgeous stretch of sand with views across the water to the southern coast of Spain!

In the summer, Tangier Beach is hopping with activity. But it’s large enough to not feel crowded, even with lots of local families, teens, and tourists enjoying a day on the shore. This area also features lots of restaurants, beach clubs, shops, and nightlife right by the beach.

In the off-season, the beach is far more sedate—the beach clubs and many of the restaurants close for the winter. But Plage Municipale is still a great place to relax in the sand, or even to enjoy a horseback or camel ride by the water!

Tip: Although it’s a good idea to dress conservatively while walking around Tangier, you can absolutely wear a swimsuit on the beach! Consider choosing a style with a bit more coverage, and pack a swim cover-up for beach strolling.

5. Sample the best couscous

If you love Moroccan food, you’re in for a treat in Tangier. Not only will you find excellent tagines (the delicious stew made in a conical-lidded pot) all around the city, but the couscous is also to-die-for.

But the very best couscous I found in Tangier was at the tiny, nondescript Restaurant Ahlen . Located across from the Hotel Mamora Bay at the entrance to the Old Medina of Tangier, the restaurant features a shockingly inexpensive menu of French and Moroccan fare.

You can choose from couscous with lamb, beef, chicken, or a veggie version. Each features a generous portion of delicately spiced couscous, root veggies, and golden raisins. Your meal also includes an appetizer of fresh crusty bread, cheese, and olives, and finishes with a tasty Moroccan pastry. Bring your appetite!

Tip: In Morocco, families traditionally gather on Fridays to pray together and enjoy a meal of couscous. So if you visit Tangier on a Friday, it’s a great time to savor this favorite Moroccan dish!

6. Snag a bargain at the souks

Tangier is famous for its souks or open-air marketplaces, and you can find just about any Moroccan souvenir your heart desires with just a bit of searching.

The city features two main souks: the Petit Socco and the Grand Socco . I found that the area around Place Petit Socco tends to be super touristy (especially when cruise ships are in port). But wander through the twisty streets and you’ll soon find where the locals shop. With some luck and negotiation skills you can score amazing bargains.

With offerings at the souks ranging from leather goods to spices, pretty cooking tagines to rugs, you might want to pack an extra suitcase to tote home all of your treasures!

Prices generally aren’t marked, so when you ask the vendor the cost of an item that’s the starting point. A bit of friendly haggling is expected, but don’t start the process if you don’t really want to buy!

Tip: I’ve had excellent luck negotiating in Tangier’s souks by buying multiple items from a single vendor. Speaking the language (either Arabic or French) helps a lot too!

7. Ride a camel

Tangier is located hundreds of miles from the desert, but that doesn’t mean you won’t have plenty of opportunity to ride a camel during your visit!

Your best bet to find a camel-riding experience is by heading out to the beach. Both Plage Municipale near Tanger Ville port and Achakkar Beach (on the Atlantic coast between Cap Spartel and the Caves of Hercules) offer short camel experiences for a very reasonable fee.

I paid 100 dirhams (about $9 US) for a 10-minute sunset ride at Achakkar Beach. If you’ve never sat atop a camel before, it’s much less scary (and a lot more comfortable) than it might look!

8. Try some fresh-pressed pomegranate juice

Morocco grows a lot of pomegranates, and a tall glass of freshly-pressed pomegranate juice is one of the yummiest treats to enjoy in Tangier. You know it’s fresh when they hand-press it right in front of you!

My favorite place to enjoy fresh pomegranate juice in Tangier is at a tiny juice stand with café-style seating on Bab Dar Dbagh . The friendly owner, Abdul Rahim, has been welcoming guests from around the world for over a decade with a smile and conversation—he speaks Arabic, English, French, Spanish, and even Japanese!

9. Ride the HOHO bus around the city

Starting its route right at Tanger Ville port, Tangier’s hop-on-hop-off bus (or HOHO for short) is the easiest way to get a taste of the city. Plus, the cost of tickets is far less expensive than HOHO buses in many other cities.

The hop-on-hop-off buses in Tangier offer two routes included in your ticket: a historic tour that shows you the heart of the city in an hour-long loop, and an Espartel tour exploring the outskirts including the Caves of Hercules and the beautiful Cap Spartel.

Whether you choose to use the HOHO bus simply as a guided tour (you can listen to a fascinating narration in your choice of eight languages) or as a means of getting around Tangier, it’s a great budget alternative to pricey shore excursions in port.

Tip: Buy your HOHO bus tickets online . When I visited, the employees at the ticket kiosk told all of the walkup passengers that there wasn’t room for them on any of the buses departing that morning. But they always set aside space for online ticketholders, so I was able to hop on the first bus of the day!

10. Sample some Moroccan wine

You might not think of Morocco as being a hot spot for wine, especially as the predominantly-Muslim country bans its citizens from drinking alcohol in public. But Morocco makes some excellent wines, and visitors to the country are exempt from the ban.

Although most restaurants in Tangier don’t serve alcohol at all, some do (just check the menu before going in or ask the staff). You may have a rare chance to sample some Moroccan wine!

The country produces about 40 million bottles of wine annually , but only about 5 percent of that is exported.

Winemaking began here during Phoenician times, but the tradition was lost during the 7th century due to religious bans on alcohol. Colonization by the French brought wineries back, and by the early 1950s Morocco was one of the world’s largest wine exporters.

Once the country gained independence in 1956, the vineyards were again abandoned, but the industry began another resurgence in the ’90s. Today you’ll mainly find local red wines in Morocco—Syrah, Grenache, Carignan, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot are the most popular. But the country also produces whites, rosés, and Vin Gris.

Tip: Want to bring some Moroccan wine home with you? Some larger supermarkets in Tangier, including Carrefour, do sell bottles of wine. But you might have to ask an employee to find it!

11. Watch the sunset at Cap Spartel

Cap Spartel (or Cape Spartel in English) is the most northwestern point in mainland Africa. Not far from the Caves of Hercules, this beautiful spot where the Atlantic meets the Mediterranean is known as one of the best places to watch the sunset in Tangier .

If you visit, plan to spend at least 30 minutes touring the small museum in the historic 1864 lighthouse, the oldest in Morocco, perched high on a cliff. Climb its spiral staircase to the observation deck to enjoy unmatched views of the rugged coastline and far out to sea.

Watch the sun set over the water right from this lofty viewpoint, or head over to Achakkar Beach just down the coast to enjoy the sunset with your toes in the sand.

My quick tips for spending an amazing day in Tangier

• Brush up on your French! Even if you don’t speak Arabic, you can get around Tangier just fine with basic French. Don’t expect everyone to speak English.
• Wear comfortable, closed-toe walking shoes for the city’s uneven, hilly streets.
• Take the local currency (Moroccan dirhams) in smaller bills. Many vendors and restaurants are cash-only.
• Watch for scams! Most Moroccans are very friendly and welcoming to tourists, but just like in any city there will be some scammers.
• Leave valuable jewelry at home (or in a safe) to avoid being a target.
• Avoid drinking the tap water in Tangier (including ice) to prevent tummy troubles.
• Choose your clothing to respect the local culture. Avoid clothes that are short, low-cut, strappy, or show too much skin.

This historic district gives you a glimpse of pre-20th century Casablanca. Its souk runs along the ancient walls of the city.

Hassan II Mosque

Erected by the sea, this mosque was built between 1986 and 1993. It is named after King Hassan II who is at the origin of the project. The quality of the work of the craftsmen is remarkable. You can visit the mosque outside of prayer hours and a small museum showcases the work of the craftsmen. The tour lasts 45 minutes. You have to be dressed properly to visit this place.

Royal Palace of Casablanca

The palace was built in the 1920s in an Arab-Muslim style. The palace is not open to visitors.

Mohammed V Square

This square now bears the name of the former King Mohammed V. It was built at the beginning of the Period of French colonization in 1916.

United Nation Square

A very lively square in the center of the city characterized by the richness of the architecture of the buildings that surround it and a dome built in the center of the square.

Église Notre-Dame de Lourdes

Catholic church with modern architecture built in 1954. Its stained glass windows are spectacular.

The Mahkama of the Pasha

This Hispano-Moorish style building served as a Muslim court and residence of the Pasha (the governor of the city). A guided tour allows you to discover the sumptuous building.

Isesco Park

This pretty park offers flowerbeds and pools of water. A quiet place to take a break.

Central Market

At the Central Market, you can find seafood, fruits and vegetables, flowers and some handicrafts. It is a popular place for lunch.

An excursion to Rabat, the capital of Morocco, will allow you to see the Mosque of Hassan, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, the Kasbah of the Oudayas and pass in front of the Royal Palace of Mechouar.

UK’s Global Ports to operate Casablanca cruise terminal

A consortium led by British cruise operator Global Ports Holding (GPH) has secured preferred bidder status for operating a new cruise terminal in Casablanca.

The consortium was awarded a 15-year concession agreement with Morocco’s state-owned Agence Nationale des Ports (ANP).

The consortium and ANP are working towards finalising the concession terms, the London stock exchange-listed company said in a statement.

GPH is the majority stakeholder with 51 percent, with Morocco’s Steya owning 40 percent and Spanish company Ocean Infrastructures Management holding the remaining nine percent. 

The cruise port infrastructure has undergone a €60 million ($65 million) upgrade, which includes the construction of a new pier, terminal and maritime station to global standards, significantly increasing the port’s capacity.

The port can handle ships up to 350m long and can receive 400,000 passengers per annum. 

Casablanca Cruise Port is expected to receive 150,000 transit passengers in 2024, which may increase to 180,000 in 2025.

Port Agadir cruise ship schedule shows timetable calendars of all arrival and departure dates by month. Agadir is one of the major cities in Morocco, situated on the shore of the Atlantic near the foot of Atlas Mountains, and just north of the point where Sous River flows into the Atlantic Ocean. Agadir is at a distance of 508 kilometers to the south of Casablanca . It is also the capital of Agadir-Ida Ou Tanane Prefecture and of Souss-Massa economic region. The majority of Agadir's inhabitants speak Shilha as their first language (Berber language of Atlas branch). In 2012 the population of Agadir numbered 600,000 inhabitants.

In 1960 the city of Agadir was destroyed by an earthquake. Later on, it was completely recovered with mandatory seismic standards. Today it is Morocco's largest seaside resort, where foreign tourists and lots of residents are attracted by the mild year-round climate. Agadir has been well served by cheap flights and a motorway out of Tangier since 2010. 

Over the decades, the city has had several ports: a major trading port, two fishing ports, and the recent port with marina for leisure boats. Avenue du Port is the main artery of Anza district. It is surrounded by canneries and offers many small restaurants that are adjacent to the fish market. Agadir's fishing port is one of the world's premier major sardine ports. The commercial port is famous for its exports of manganese, zinc, cobalt and citrus products.

The economy of Agadir relies mainly on fisheries and tourism. Agricultural activities are based all around the city. Agadir boasts its Souk Al Ahad - one of the largest Souks in Morocco. The city also has its cement company named Ciments du Maroc (CIMAR), subsidiary of the Italian Italcementi. There is also a shipyard and Morocco's only Merchant Marine school.

Some of the prettiest beaches in Morocco lie to the north of Agadir. Areas known for excellent surfing are situated close to the village of Taghazout to Cap Ghir. Many smaller and beautiful beaches are located along this coast between Agadir and Essaouira.

The era of large cruise ship visits to Bar Harbor might soon end

Unless another court ruling overturns Bar Harbor’s new cruise ship limits, 2025 is expected to be the last year that large passenger ships drop anchor in Frenchman Bay.

But it could be sooner than that — or may have already passed — if a judge decides that the town must enforce the new limits this year.

“Large” can be a relative term when the smallest cruise ships that visit Bar Harbor are more than 200 feet long and can accommodate 100 paid passengers. Most of the ships that visit Bar Harbor, Maine’s busiest cruise ship port, are closer to 1,000 feet long and carry between 1,800 and 4,000 passengers per voyage.

It is these larger ships that effectively will be banned from visiting the tourist destination when the town’s new daily limit of 1,000 passengers per day  starts being enforced. Of Bar Harbor’s current 104 cruise ship visits scheduled for this year, 70 would be prohibited if the daily limit was to go into effect before May 2, when the first large ship of the year, carrying nearly 2,400 passengers, is expected to arrive.

Of the ships that will still be allowed, most carry approximately 100 to 200 passengers and rarely do two of them appear in Bar Harbor on the same day. As a result, the town most likely will get only a couple hundred passengers ashore on cruise ship days — below the daily 1,000-passenger limit and far below the 2,000 to 5,000 passengers that have sometimes come ashore when multiple ships are in town at the same time.

But when the new limit will be fully enforced is a heated subject of debate  in Bar Harbor, where the council says it will honor reservations made by large ships before voters approved the new limits on Nov. 8, 2022. Charles Sidman , a local resident who spearheaded the referendum vote, is taking the town to court to try to legally compel it to enforce the cap now.

In addition, a coalition of local businesses is challenging the new daily limit in federal court, arguing that it runs counter to federal maritime law and is unfairly onerous. A federal judge upheld the new daily limit  in February, but the business group has said it intends to appeal the decision.

Regardless of which entity prevails in court, the number of annual cruise ship visits to Bar Harbor, which gets millions of visitors each year who arrive each year by car or bus, already is declining and likely will never regain the volume of recent years.

Outside the COVID-19 pandemic years of 2020 and 2021 — when the global cruise ship industry ground to a halt and no ships came to Bar Harbor  — the town recently has averaged roughly 150 visits each year, all between late April and early November, and received an annual total between 200,000 and 250,000 passengers. This year, even if large ships are allowed, the town will get fewer than 200,000 passengers for the first time — apart from 2020 and 2021 — since 2016.

After cruise ships first started showing up sporadically off Bar Harbor in the 1980s, their numbers jumped above 50 per year in 2001 and then above 100 per year in 2008. The town’s first year with more than 100,000 cruise ship passengers was in 2004, when it welcomed 87 ships into Frenchman Bay.

Along the way, the town has worked with local cruise industry officials to find ways to manage the flow of passengers to and from the downtown waterfront. It moved anchorage points in the bay behind the Porcupine Islands to make the ships less visually imposing from downtown, and tried making adjustments to how tour buses come and go from West Street to relieve traffic congestion, even as the number of visits consistently increased over time.

But as complaints continued to come in, the town decided in 2021 — when annual visits to Acadia National Park soared to more than 4 million  — to conduct a survey to ask local people what they thought about local cruise ship traffic. More than half  of the survey’s respondents said the volume of cruise ship visits was hurting the town.

With the writing on the wall, both town officials and local cruise industry officials began discussing how to reduce the number  of large ships that visit each year.

Together, they came up with a plan to impose a daily passenger cap of 3,800 passengers for May, June, September and October, and a daily cap of 3,500 for July and August. They also agreed on monthly caps of 30,000 passengers in May and June, 40,000 in July and August, and 65,000 in September and October.

But Sidman’s 2022 citizens’ petition effort, which led to the November referendum that year, derailed that plan.

For now, with Bar Harbor officials saying they plan to honor large cruise ship reservations made prior to the November 8, 2022 vote, the number of visits scheduled for 2025 stands at 18, all of which are large ships that together would bring nearly 57,000 ship passengers to town between late August and early October. The Regal Princess, which carries 3,560 passengers, would be the final large ship to visit Bar Harbor, on Oct. 28, 2025.

All large ship reservation requests that have come in since residents approved the daily 1,000-passenger cap have been denied, according to town officials.

Business | In wake of Baltimore bridge collapse, Florida ports council head talks about safety

TALLAHASSEE — Two weeks after a container ship collided with a bridge and shut down the Port of Baltimore, effects continue to ripple through the maritime industry. The News Service had these questions for Michael Rubin, president and CEO of the Florida Ports Council, about port safety in the Sunshine State:

Q: After the Baltimore collision, are you looking at all the Florida ports for how ships come in and out to ensure safety and security?

RUBIN: It’s a continuing investment that we work with the Army Corps of Engineers. Some of our channels, obviously, there’s a bridge in Tampa, which had a similar incident over 40 years ago. And then there’s a bridge in Jacksonville, where some of the smaller cargo vessels go underneath.

So, it’s a continual review by, you know, the (harbor) pilots into that. The pilots do a great job of making sure those vessels stay on line and on track coming through those navigational harbors if there’s a bridge there. Obviously, it’s a difficult lesson and you hope you don’t have — and I feel for those six families (of people who died in Baltimore) — and you hope you don’t have any significant loss of life in those. But it’s one of those hard lessons you learn.

We learned that in Tampa several years ago. We learned through hurricanes, sometimes those (storms) deposit items into a channel that you have to get out of there. So, it’s just an ongoing (issue) dealing with all that. There’s a continuing harbor maintenance effort at every one of our seaports with the Army Corps to make sure that channel is clear and usable.  … It’s just a matter of certainly having the Army Corps and everybody else working together to keep it clear.

Q: What’s the biggest threat to Florida ports, and what steps are being taken?

RUBIN: Our threats remain heavy weather. And we’re getting into that season again. Obviously, it’s an annual thing. And all of our ports have had heavy-weather committees comprised of the seaports, the tenants, Coast Guard and everybody in getting ready to plan. And it’s an ongoing planning effort to keep that port not only resilient and open, but, you know, making sure that it’s ready for that heavy weather when it comes around.

… Fuel is obviously a significant issue every year. And we work together as a system of seaports. And we have several seaports that handle fuel. Hopefully, we don’t have a hurricane that goes up the middle of the state and closes all of our ports at the same time. We’ve had that.

But certainly, we prepare and get ready. You know, the governor’s office, obviously Gov. (Ron) DeSantis and his, Kevin Guthrie (director) at the Division of Emergency Management, does a fantastic job. And so does our partners at DOT (the Florida Department of Transportation) responding to it.

Q: Concerns have been raised about cybersecurity threats. What steps are being taken?

RUBIN: Yes, obviously, cybersecurity continues to grow every year with all sorts of craziness out there. And certainly, it’s been a significant issue for 10 years or so now. … We first had the Maritime Transportation Security Act after 9/11. And it was all about physical security issues.

And a lot of money was spent around the state on the federal side shoring up ingress and egress, fencing, gates, checkpoints, police force. And so, a lot of it was spent there. And now the issue, really the foremost issue on some of that stuff, is do you have a cybersecurity plan in place.

Every terminal, every vessel, obviously, all of our port authorities have a cybersecurity plan in place. And they work together with the Coast Guard to make sure that we have adequate protections or whatever they may be.

And any threats that are recognized out there are usually transmitted by the Coast Guard to the Florida seaports, terminals and vessels.

Q: Supply chain issues don’t seem as dramatic as they were coming out of the COVID-19 pandemic. What steps are being taken to maintain the record cargo and cruise numbers posted last year in Florida?

RUBIN: The cargo industry, the maritime industry around the world is slow to change. But I think a number of them saw that, “Hey, I need to look at the East Coast of the United States and the Gulf Coast. And we have ports on both the East Coast side and the Gulf Coast. And both of them have seen a growth.
