Phish Busts Out “L.A. Woman” After Nearly 500 Shows During L.A. “Tweezerfest” At The Forum [Photos/Videos]

phish, phish la, phish los angeles, phish forum, phish 10/24/21, phish fall tour, phish fall tour 2021, phish fall tour f orum, phish 10/24/21 review, phish 10/24/21 recap, phish forum recap, phish forum setlist

Last night, one year and three months after the originally scheduled concert date, Phish took the stage in Inglewood, California and played a not-to-be-missed Sunday show at The Forum . Even though Los Angeles is known for year-round beautiful weather, the indoor arena has been a regular stop along West Coast Phish tour runs since 2014. While the Hollywood Bowl hosted some great Phish shows in the early 2010s, there is a palpable energy within The Forum that lends itself well to the band and its scene. So it was that Trey Anastasio ,  Jon Fishman ,  Page McConnell , and  Mike Gordon returned for their sixth performance in the last seven years.

After a slightly delayed start to accommodate for traffic from the nearby Los Angeles Rams game, the show began with the second-ever Phish performance of “ A Wave of Hope ”. The song was first shared by guitarist Trey Anastasio on an Instagram video and, later, recorded for his Lonely Trip quarantine album project and performed during The Beacon Jams . The upbeat rocker quickly brought the energy level up, but it was the sharp segue into “You Enjoy Myself” that truly captivated the crowd.

Here are some “YEM” numbers for those keeping score. This is the third time the song has been played at The Forum, but the first time on fall tour 2021. Despite being the most commonly performed Phish song over the band’s 38-year history (this was version #619 ), it was hard to find many examples of it being played this early in a set. “YEM” opened a Mexico show in 2019 , took a mid-first set spot as the Y of the “Fuck Your Face” set back in 2012, opened a couple of shows in 2003, etc. It’s safe to call this another setlist-bending moment on a tour that has been full of surprises.

Going back to the music, the “YEM” itself dropped into exploratory, Type II territory as the song’s composed section gave way to a fast-paced jam fueled by the drumming of Jon Fishman. The band then explored a more ethereal space highlighted by Page McConnell’s light touch on the electric piano before popping into a funk groove held down by Mike Gordon on the low end. This looped back to the song’s traditional ending, a brief vocal jam highlighted, as always, by Chris Kuroda ’s lighting, before Trey strummed the opening chords of “The Moma Dance” while quoting the “Firenze” refrain of “YEM”. It was here that my dad texted me: “What an awesome segue.” Yes.

The band locked in tight on “Moma”, expertly working through the groovy song before opening things up for a bright and spacey jam session. The song was left unfinished as Trey segued out of the jam with the riff of “Simple”, and off they went into the grand composition. What is a band without skyscraper, anyway? The “Simple” jam started in darker territory, with Page dabbling and dazzling on the clavs and Gordo laying down a heavy bass line. The band also teased Led Zeppelin ’s “The Rover” during the jam.

When the “Simple” improvisation moved into a lighter theme, Trey took the opportunity to bust out the first “Waiting All Night” in 58 shows. This was a seamless, mid-jam-to-new-song, “->” type of transition, and it had the Phish guitarist visibly smiling from ear to ear. The first verses retained some of the funky pace of the “Simple” jam, giving the unexpected Fuego tune an atypical cadence for most of its duration.

As “Waiting All Night” concluded, Trey turned to Fishman and said the word “Maze”, prompting the drummer to tap out the song’s opening beat. This rendition was full of frenzied, tension-and-release playing from Trey and Page, though it ultimately stayed inside the lines. Next up was the fan favorite “Fee”, which featured Trey singing the verses through a megaphone—as he has done for the last 15 renditions of the song.

Phish kept the first set moving with a “Steam” highlighted by a tense, mid-song jam. It was the playful number “Run Like an Antelope” that closed out the first set on a high note, as the band left fans eagerly awaiting more to come.

That “more to come” would ultimately take the form of a veritable “Tweezer”-fest—though I’m getting a bit ahead of myself here. Set two opened with the jazzy instrumental “Cars Trucks Buses”, highlighted as always by Page’s shining work on the Yamaha grand piano. After a short but sweet solo from Trey, the band ended “CTB” and launched into the opening riff of a cold, cold, cold, cold “Tweezer”.

Fans have noted the absence of “Tweezer” on this fall run, suspecting that it might play into the band’s Halloween plans. Ever the masters of the unexpected, Phish instead brought “Tweezer” to L.A.—quite literally, as a matter of fact. An early-in-the-song jam gave way to a cover of The Doors ’ “L.A. Woman” for just the second time ever and for the first time since 2003—a gap of 493 shows! The nod to the City of Angels was a welcomed addition to the setlist. Towards the end of the cover, the band swiftly veered back into “Tweezer”, though not without quotes of “L.A. Woman” bleeding in.

Phish – “L.A. Woman” (The Doors) – 10/24/21

This brief “Tweezer” interlude took the form of a funky improvisation around the song’s main themes until Trey started singing the first lyrics of “Say it to me S.A.N.T.O.S.”, leading the band went into the space-sniffing Kasvot Växt rocker. Phish then brought the song into a jam session, quoting “Tweezer” before moving into a brighter and airy jam space. From here, the band segued smoothly into the 2.0-era instrumental, “What’s The Use?”, notable for a long, cheer-filled pause leading up to the song’s concluding melody.

Perhaps unsurprisingly at this point, Phish returned to the funk-rock tones of “Tweezer” as the band settled into a grooving jam that spent time on the second Led Zeppelin tease of the night, “Heartbreaker”. There have been enough Zeppelin hints this tour to raise eyebrows for the upcoming Halloween run , but, given Phish’s proclivity for the unexpected, the second set of 10/31 remains an unknown.

The “Tweezer” jam flowed into a lighter exploratory space, where the band dwelled for a short while until Trey hammered out the opening chords of “Birds of a Feather”. The band would ultimately leave “BOAF” unfinished, instead veering into a booming improvisational section that included a quote of “Dave’s Energy Guide” from Trey amidst its light and flowing pace. The jam swirled through a tense, somewhat atonal segment before being grounded by the rhythm section of Gordo and Fish. The melodic ending to this jam brought the band into the intro of “Chalk Dust Torture”, another fan favorite that had the Forum crowd grooving from wall to wall.

Following the “CDT” verses, the band launched into a bluesy jam highlighted by thick tones from both Trey and Mike and, you guessed it, another tease of the “Tweezer” riff. The band also left this song unfinished, instead jumping to a new key signature mid-jam to usher in the Stevie Wonder classic, “Boogie On Reggae Woman”. The boogie was palpable as the band continued its song-shifting second set, briefly teasing “Tweezer” again before dropping into the dark and delightful “Carini”.

Phish quickly brought “Carini” into the light, delivering yet another full band quote of “Tweezer”. This light segment of the jam allowed the band to find its way into “Mr. Completely”, the once-lost, 2.0-era song that has been revitalized and reintegrated in recent years—including four times in 2021. It’s a bouncy, upbeat number that found a home in this shifting setlist, though not for too long, as a mid-song “Mr. Completely” jam session was quickly interrupted by the rocking tones of “Tweezer Reprise”. This “Tweeprise” would close out a second set filled with “Tweezer” teases galore, unfinished songs, and one of the biggest bust-outs in recent memory, “L.A. Woman”. While “NICU” at the NICU might just be the most apt hometown nod of the run, The Doors cover was certainly an appreciated tribute to Los Angeles.

After a brief pause, Trey, Mike, Fish and Page returned for their first a cappella number of the tour, “Grind”. The zany barbershop quartet number was followed by a show-stopping, show-closing rendition of “Bathtub Gin”—one final gem for the fans at the Forum. The “Gin” jam did give Kuroda one last chance to soak the venue in a cosmic display as the band went on a brief exploration before reeling in the jam, thanking the audience, and closing the show. What a show it was!

Phish fall tour continues on Tuesday in Santa Barbara, CA, the final stop ahead of a four-night stand at the MGM Grand Garden Arena that begins this Thursday and runs through Halloween night. For a full list of 2021 fall tour dates, head here .

ABOUT GRUPO FIRME

The band was formed in Tijuana, Mexico on March 19, 2013, but has roots in Sinaloa. The members of the band are:

Eduin Caz – Vocals, Abraham Hernández – Second Voice, Joaquín Ruiz – Bajo Sexto, Jhonny Caz – Second Voice, Victor Zavala – Bass, Christian Téllez – Bass, José Rubio – Drums, Dylan Camacho – Accordion, Isael Gutiérrez – Manager. In February 2017, they  took a big step by teaming up with Mr. Isael Gutiérrez, president of the company Music VIP Entertainment Inc. By formalizing this alliance, they  took a fundamental and important turn in their career in every way. Coming from the underground corridos scene, they built that credibility with their fans, which is not easy for the public to accept. But as they evolved artistically, their audience embraced their versatile style in an incredible way. Today they have broken all sales records with sold outs all over the continent, in the USA, MX, and Central and South America. They have been able to live a dream thanks to music and to the people. They have broken all the barriers that supposedly existed in the music industry. 2023 has been a year of new horizons and a mandatory hiatus for the band, however in 2024 they are back, with all the energy and ready to conquer the biggest stages again.

LPGA: Former USC player Malia Nam leads at Palos Verdes after two rounds

Malia Nam took a one-stroke lead into the weekend in just her second career LPGA Tour start, shooting a two-under 69 on Friday in the Fir Hills Seri Pak Championship at Palos Verdes Golf Club .

One of seven former USC players in the field at the scenic course overlooking the Pacific Ocean, the 24-year-old Nam — from Hawaii — played more than 100 rounds on the layout during her time with the Trojans .

“I’ve seen every single inch of this golf course, good and bad,” Nam said. “It’s funny, because in college I never really played well here. This is actually the first time that I think I shot consecutively under par, so I’m a bit surprised myself.”

Playing in the final group of the day to tee off on No. 10, Nam pulled even with defending champion Ruoning Yin and Madelene Sagstrom with a birdie on the par-three sixth and took the lead with a birdie on the par-five seventh. She parred the final two holes to finish at eight-under 134.

Golfers sue city of L.A., calling out failure to stop black market in tee times

A prominent Korean American golf club asked L.A. officials to stop the black market in tee times. Now it is suing the city over its inaction and filed a sweeping class-action lawsuit alleging a breach of public trust.

March 22, 2024

“It’s definitely a pretty surreal feeling seeing my name on the top of the leaderboard, especially with all the best players in the world.” Nam said. “I always knew that I can play out here, but I didn’t expect it to be so quick to see my name up on the top of the leaderboard.”

Nam rebounded after struggling in the middle of the round. She had a double bogey on the par-four 15th and a bogey on the par-four first. In late January in Florida, she tied for 57th in her LPGA Tour debut at the LPGA Drive On Championship.

Yin closed eagle-birdie-birdie for a 65. The 21-year-old Chinese player began the spree with a 5-iron to 6 feet for the eagle on No. 7 and ran in a 45-footer on the par-four eighth. Ranked fourth in the world, Yin followed her breakthrough LPGA Tour win last year at Palos Verdes with a major victory at the KMPG Women’s PGA.

Sagstrom had three late birdies in the afternoon session. The 31-year-old Swede birdied the par-five 14th and 16th and reached 7 under with a birdie on the par-three 17th. She won the 2020 Gainbridge LPGA at Boca Rio for her lone tour title.

Rose Zhang (68), Leona Maguire (65) and former UCLA player Alison Lee (70) were six under. The 20-year-old Zhang won the Mizuho Americas Open last year in her first professional start. Lee had a birdie-birdie-eagle run on Nos. 14-16 for a share of the lead, then dropped back with a bogey on 17.

Linn Grant (68) and Lauren Hartlage (71) were five under.

phish tour la

Second-ranked Nelly Korda had a late double bogey in a 67 that left her three under. She won the LPGA Drive On Championship in January in her last event.

First-round leader Maude-Aimee Leblanc followed her opening 64 with a 79 to make the cut on the number at one over. The only player in the field with a bogey-free opening round, the Canadian had nine bogeys in the second.

Seri Pak is the tournament host for the first time. Pak is one of the most influential players in LPGA history, a pioneer for South Korean players to follow her path.

PGA Valspar Championship

phish tour la

PALM HARBOR, Fla. — Stewart Cink made a great escape from the pine straw for an unlikely birdie and had a four-under 67 that gave him a five-way share of the lead and a chance to entertain thoughts of winning for the second straight tournament.

There’s just one difference for Cink. The golf course is a lot longer. And the guys he is trying to beat are a lot younger.

The 50-year-old Cink, who blew a chance to win on the PGA Tour Champions two weeks ago with a back-nine meltdown, looked steady on a day of 30 mph gusts in the morning, some wind in the afternoon but not close to the nasty weather expected at Innisbrook.

He was tied at six-under 136 with Kevin Streelman (72), tour rookie Chandler Phillips (68), Brendon Todd (69) and Mackenzie Hughes (68).

The First Look: Valspar Championship

The First Look

Change Text Size

The PGA TOUR’s Florida Swing reaches its conclusion at the Valspar Championship just outside Tampa, as players cross the state after THE PLAYERS Championship last week.

Several top PGA TOUR pros have made the short trip from TPC Sawgrass to Innisbrook Resort’s Copperhead Course, which features the famed “Snake Pit” trio of closing holes. Taylor Moore returns to defend his 2023 title, with past winners in the field including Jordan Spieth and Sam Burns.

Here’s everything you need to know before play begins at Innisbrook.

FIELD NOTES: Xander Schauffele, fresh off his T2 at THE PLAYERS, will return to action at the Valspar. Schauffele has five top-10 finishes in seven events so far this season. He last played Innisbrook in 2022 where he finished T12 … Brian Harman , who tied Schauffele and Wyndham Clark at 19-under at THE PLAYERS, one shot back of Scottie Scheffler’s winning total, makes the trip to Innisbrook as well. Harman is rounding into form, having gone T12-T2 in his last two starts. But his effort at Innisbrook has been curious over the last decade. He has missed the cut in five of his last six Valspar appearances, but his one made cut resulted in a T5 in 2022 … Sam Burns returns to Innisbrook – a place he’s had plenty of success – looking for another win. Burns went back-to-back at the Valspar in 2021 and 2022 and finished sixth a year ago. He has notched four top-12s in five starts at Innisbrook, and he has yet to miss a cut … Justin Thomas is hoping to turn things around after a missed cut at THE PLAYERS. Thomas finished 10th last year and was third the year prior. He’s missed just one cut at the Valspar in his career … Tony Finau returns to Innisbrook for the first time since 2018. While he’s missed the cut three out of four times at Innisbrook, he did finish fifth in 2017 … Taylor Moore returns to Tampa looking to go back-to-back at the Valspar. Moore has found the weekend in all seven of his PGA TOUR starts this season … 2015 Valspar winner Spieth also returns. Spieth has finished in the top 20 at Innisbrook in five of his six starts, including a T3 a year ago.

SIGNATURE EVENT STORYLINES: Fred Biondi will play for the fourth time this season on the PGA TOUR. He’s back in action after finishing T32 at the Puerto Rico Open. Biondi, the 2023 NCAA individual champion at the University of Florida, has made the cut in all four of his Korn Ferry Tour starts so far this season … Biondi’s University of Florida teammate Ricky Castillo will make his non-major debut on the PGA TOUR. Castillo, who debuted at the 2020 U.S. Open, turned pro last year and has made plenty of noise on the Korn Ferry Tour so far this season. The 23-year-old has made his last five cuts and finished no worse than T20, including two top-five showings … Nick Gabrelcik returns to action at the Valspar. The University of North Florida senior grew up just 20 minutes from Innisbrook and made the cut in 2023. He volunteered at the event as a standard bearer as a youngster. Gabrelick is a nine-time collegiate winner … Kevin Roy will return to action on the PGA TOUR. The upstate New York native lost his TOUR card after 2023 but has made all four cuts on the Korn Ferry Tour this season including a runner-up at the season opener … Rounding out the sponsor exemptions are TOUR veterans Luke Donald and Ryan Palmer.

COMCAST BUSINESS TOUR TOP 10 UPDATES: Shane Lowry moved inside the Aon Next 10 (from No. 11 to No. 9) after his T19 at THE PLAYERS, highlighted by a final-round 66 … Lowry was the only player who made a move inside the Aon Next 10 at THE PLAYERS … The Aon Swing 5 standings remained unchanged. The next Signature Event on the PGA TOUR schedule is the RBC Heritage in mid-April. The Aon Swing 5 standings for that event starts with the Puerto Rico Open and continues this week at the Valspar Championship, followed by the Texas Children’s Houston Open and Valero Texas Open. With his win at the Puerto Rico Open, Brice Garnett stands No. 1 on the Aon Swing 5 race.

FEDEXCUP: The winner receives 500 FedExCup points.

COURSE: Innisbrook Resort (Copperhead), par 71, 7,340 yards

Located just north of Tampa, the tree-lined, Larry Packard design puts a premium on positioning off the tee. The course, which opened in the early 1970s, features a tough three-hole closing stretch known as the “Snake Pit” – two tough par 4s sandwiched between a bruising 200-yard par 3. Last year the rough height was increased to 3.75 inches from 3 inches in prior years – look for that to be a factor again on the golf course in 2024.

72-HOLE RECORD: 266, Vijay Singh (2004)

18-HOLE RECORD: 61, Matt NeSmith (Round 2, 2022), Padraig Harrington (Round 1, 2012)

LAST TIME: Taylor Moore won for the first time on the PGA TOUR after a Sunday 67 at the Valspar Championship, topping Adam Schenk by one. Moore finished strong, making two birdies in his final four holes. He was waiting for a playoff before Spieth stumbled into the house. Spieth made bogey on the par-4 16th but appeared to be right back in it after hitting his tee ball on the par-3 17th to just 6 feet. He missed that birdie try, however, and bogeyed the 72nd hole of the championship to finish two shots behind Moore’s winning total. Spieth finished tied for third alongside Tommy Fleetwood while Wyndham Clark finished fifth.

The Eras Tour cast: Meet Taylor Swift's dancers, singers and band members

phish tour la

Taylor Swift's The Eras Tour has been out for a week on Disney+ , and there's no doubt some dedicated fans have watched it 13+ times. The three-and-a-half-hour phenomenon is a bedazzled force that moves through 49 songs from Swift's 10 eras. The movie was shot over three nights in Los Angeles and included helicopter, drone and onstage camera angles. By now everyone knows the ringleader of The Eras Tour, but what about the cast and crew who shine alongside her?

Here's a look at Swift's six bandmates, four backup vocalists and 15 dancers featured in the film with the time stamps for when they appear on screen.

'Strike the band up, 1... 2... 3...'

The Eras Tour band is led by Mike Meadows and Max Bernstein. Meadows has been with Swift for more than 15 years, starting on her "Fearless" tour. The guitarist also sings and plays keyboards, cello, harmonica and mandolin. In a cute TikTok, his wife shared a compilation video from Nissan Stadium about how proud she is . Swift places her arm on Meadows during "Love Story" at 33:12.

Max Bernstein rocks out on the guitar, keyboards and pedal steel, which is a steel guitar with pedals and knee levers. He shared a post on Instagram with the caption , "So incredibly grateful to be a little part of the biggest and best show." He joined Swift for the "Reputation Stadium Tour" in 2018. His parents are journalists Nora Ephron and Carl Bernstein, and his brother Jacob is a reporter for The New York Times. Bernstein is to the right of Swift and her "Fearless" heart hands at 26:12.

Paul Sidoti may be the most well known band member. His distinct rocker hair is almost as big as his stage presence. Sidoti has been a vocalist and guitarist with the singer since 2007. He is approachable on the tour and has taken photos with fans in the audience. Sidoti's website also says he's available for "online guitar, bass, and piano lessons via Zoom." Swift touches Sidoti's face during "You Belong With Me" while singing "you've got a smile that can light up this whole town" at 28:15.

Amos Heller is the bassist. Like many of Swift's bandmates, the husband and father of three has been with her since 2007. Heller picked up his first electric bass at 13. His cover of Metallica's "Blackened" shows he's a master thrasher. Swift struts with Heller during "You Belong With Me" at 27:58.

Ooomph! Matthew Billingslea is the drummer crashing the cymbals, beating the toms and pedaling the bass. In 2023, he was nominated for pop drummer of the year at the Drumeo Awards. Billingslea joined Swift's band in 2013 for the Red Tour. Billingslea pops up during "Fearless" at 25:38.

Rounding out the bandmates is Karina DePiano . The classically trained pianist gets a shoutout from the singer following Swift's performance of "Champagne Problems." DePiano performs an interlude at 50:35 while Swift sets a table before singing "Tolerate It." DePiano started 2024 with a Pianote nomination for pop pianist of the year .

'We sing it proudly'

The fearless ladies who make up Swift's choir are "The Starlights."

Up first is Melanie Nyema , the section leader. The vocal virtuoso has backed many artists including Gladys Knight, Sara Bareilles, Solange Knowles, Florence + The Machine and Imagine Dragons. She's been with Swift since 2012 when she performed "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" at the VMAs. Check out her spiritual version of "Gotta Have You." Nyema is left of Swift at 30:33 when she hugs "The Starlights."

Kamilah Marshall is the vocalist dance captain. Marshall came into the fold during the Red Tour. Her song "Canyon" showcases her writing and singing in an outpouring of gratitude. The Broadway actress has credits including "Hairspray" and "Lion King." In 2021, she told the Academic Magnet High School newspaper in South Carolina, "I know I’m supposed to be doing what I do.” You can also see her in the dinner scene of " All Too Well: The Short Film ." Marshall is the "cheer captain" on the left at 28:52 during the "Fearless" era.

Jeslyn Gorman joined Swift during her Red Tour. The vocal riffer has a song, "Falling Like Snow," and has toured with stars Meghan Trainor, Jason Derulo, Rita Ora and Nick Jonas. The Florida native and latte enthusiast moved to Los Angeles. Gorman, like the other "Starlights," thanked Swift on her birthday, "Your heart and generosity is beyond BEYOND. And just when I think you’ve DONE IT, you TOP THAT!" Gorman shimmies at 32:40.

Eliotte Woodford wears the purple "Speak Now" dress and bangs the side of her vitrine during the "Look What You Made Me Do" portion of the Eras Tour at 1:07:38. Woodford has been with Swift since 2013. The wife and mother graduated from Washington University in St. Louis, where she was a part of the a cappella group the "Mosaic Whispers." Her singing and dancing reel shows her early work with Swift .

'I don't wanna dance if I'm not dancing with you'

Fifteen dancers led by choreographer Mandy Moore and associate choreographers Amanda Balen and Jeremy Hudson create some of the most iconic moments during the 10 eras. Moore met Swift through mutual friend Emma Stone who worked with Moore on "La La Land." Her credits are extensive. Most recently, she put together the exemplary Ryan Gosling performance of "I'm Just Ken" at the Oscars.

Amanda Balen is the dance captain. The blond beauty hails from Ontario, Canada. She is famous among the Lady Gaga fandom for dancing in several of the star's music videos and being a part of the Roseland Ballroom residency in New York City in 2014. Balen has worked with Katy Perry and Pink. You can find her at 14:18 during "The Man" to the left of Swift.

Tori Evans lights up the stage. In her decade-plus career, the University of Arizona alumnus has been featured in Ricky Martin music video "Qué Rico Fuera" , swam in synchro-formation next to Beyoncé and strutted on "The Masked Singer ." Evans' resume also includes dancing for Cardi B, Mary J Blige, Jason Derulo and Maroon 5. Her dance teacher of 15 years, Lana Wright, told Morgan Hill Life , "Tori was always that ray of sunshine... I always knew Tori could accomplish her goals, if she really wanted it." You can catch Evans during "Blank Space." She hands Swift a glow-up club at 2:13:45.

Audrey Douglass has danced with the devil, in addition to many other television credits. The performer has boogied and waltzed on Netflix's "Lucifer," Apple TV+'s "The Morning Show," FX's "American Horror Story: 1984," Paramount+'s "1923" and "Dancing with the Stars." Douglass serves up sass as "Shay" in Dua Lipa's "Physical" work out video . Dancing runs in the family, because Douglass' older sister, Hannah, was one of the co-captain dancers on Beyoncé's Renaissance World Tour . As the "Lover" house burns down, you can see Douglass to the left of Swift at 2:22:52.

Jan Ravnik (pronounced "yawn") is the smooth dancer who caught the eye of social media with his abs-olutely distracting "Lavender Haze" ladder dance . The Slovenian dancer has worked with Paula Abdul, Mariah Carey, Bruno Mars, Khalid and Luis Fonsi. Ravnik was awarded the "Best Dancer in Slovenia" and credited as the "Best Trainer/Choreographer" by the Slovenian Olympic committee. When he's not grooving on the international stage, he goes for long distance bike rides and takes artsy photos. You can see what's got the internet's attention at 2:36:46.

Taylor Banks strikes like a viper at 55:48, during "...Ready For It?" Banks was born in New Orleans, grew up in Pennsylvania and moved to Los Angeles to shine. The dancer has been moving to the beat since she was 3 and been featured with artists including Justin Timberlake, Jennifer Lopez, Mariah Carey, Cher, Ciara, Chris Brown, Jessie J, The Jacksons, Jason Derulo, Dua Lipa, Billie Eillish and Beyoncé. The fitness model has repped brands like Nike, Reebok, Skechers and Under Armour.

Sydney Moss was born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee. The spunky and fun dancer moved to Los Angeles after high school and has worked with Janet Jackson, Justin Timberlake, Doja Cat, Mariah Carey and Jennifer Lopez. Moss has a beautiful rendition of "You're Losing Me" with fellow dancer Jan Ravnik. She dresses Swift in her bejeweled blazer during "The Man" at 9:03.

Natalie Lecznar is a former Radio City Rockette. The Chapman University graduate married her college sweetheart. She was on Season 5 of "So You Think You Can Dance." The vibrant dancer is easy to spot with her fire-red locks. She is known for her performance in the "Folklore" era when she becomes Rebekah Harkness during the "Last Great American Dynasty" at 1:51:41.

Whyley Yoshimura , why don't you come on over and shake, shake, shake? The dancer notably flips his long hair, still smooth despite the humidity, during "Shake It Off" at 2:17:40. Yoshimura is a native Hawaiian who went to the Kamehameha Schools on Oahu. He started dancing for Janet Jackson at 18 and went on to be her assistant choreographer for the "Unbreakable Tour." He is an LGBTQI+ advocate for the Rainbow Railroad .

Raphael Thomas is the "Tolerate It" star at 54:02. The Jamaican's nickname is "The Sandman." He toured with Mary J. Blige on the "Good Morning Gorgeous" tour , was featured in Rihanna's "Savage X Fenty Show" on Amazon Prime, danced for Janet Jackson in the 85 West Music Festival and lit up the stage with Beyonce during her "Homecoming" performance at Coachella.

Kevin Scheitzbach polishes up real nice! The "Bejeweled" dancer gets a breakout moment at 2:47:13 strutting some of his best moves. Scheitzbach specializes in jazz funk and street styles of dance. He runs FlowXS , a choreography company, with his equally charismatic and talented brother Michael. The two grew up in Toronto, Canada.

Kameron Saunders is the only dancer with a speaking line that he switches up nightly at the Eras Tour during "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" at 1:26:33. The ebullient dancer also shines during a "Bejeweled" dance solo at 2:48:10. The Missourian was honored in Kansas City when the council dubbed Jan. 25 Kameron Saunders Day of Dance. You can catch him and his fast-footed moves in the ensemble of "The Color Purple" and "Spirited." Saunders' brother Khalen is a defensive tackle for the New Orleans Saints.

Natalie Peterson is a professional dancer, fitness instructor, dance educator and Amazon influencer . The Chapman University graduate specialized in Latin dance. Before the Eras Tour, she served as the assistant choreographer for Karol G’s "Bichota Tour" and got her Lagree Fitness certification. You can spot her twirling in "Style" on the right of Swift at 2:10:39.

Tamiya Lewis is the crowd pleaser who wheels the "Red" road case onto the stage. During the tour, she opens it to reveal song snippets from "State of Grace," "Holy Ground," "Red" and "Everything Has Changed" (depending on the show). That part was cut from the movie, but you still see her bringing the case onstage to unleash hundreds of red balloons at 1:20:12. The 21-year-old is an alumnus of the Velocity Dance Convention , a dance convention and competition that provides classes to dancers across the U.S.

Sam Mcwilliams is the lovable dancer who appears to the right of Swift at 2:09:56. If you don't blink, you can also catch his famous "Style" flip at 2:10:41. The Oregon native has been dancing for most of his life. Check out a video of him in 2017 dancing to Meghan Trainor's "Me Too." In 2021, he was named the Radix senior male core performer , and he almost made the top 12 on Season 17 of "So You Think You Can Dance." Recently, Mcwilliams showed off his lyrical, limber and tumble talents in a duet dance with fellow dancer Jan Ravnik .

Karen Chuang hands Swift her microphone during "The Man" at 9:26. A few seconds later as she's poring over a typewriter, Swift takes her paper and chucks it. Chuang is officially a Gleek as one of her first television appearances was as a Vocal Adrenaline dancer in "Another One Bites The Dust." She also performed in the 2016 "Grease Live!" and Lady Gaga's Super Bowl halftime show. Chuang graduated Summa Cum Laude from UCLA.

Taylor Swift's Eras Tour crowd caused earthquake-like tremors. These 5 songs shook SoFi Stadium the most.

By Nicole Brown Chau

Updated on: March 18, 2024 / 6:44 PM EDT / CBS News

Taylor Swift is known to have an energetic fan base, but just how much energy can 70,000 Swifties generate? A group of scientists in California may have an answer based on earthquake-like signals from her Los Angeles Eras Tour concert at SoFi Stadium on Aug. 5, 2023.

After Swift's concerts at Seattle's Lumen Field in July caused seismic activity, a California Institute of Technology research team sought to better understand what causes "concert tremor." The team recorded vibrations from motion sensors it set up near and inside SoFi Stadium as well as regional seismic network stations and was able to detect 43 of the 45 songs Swift performed during her concert.

By calculating the energy radiated during each song at the Los Angeles concert, the Caltech researchers could interpret each as a local magnitude of an earthquake that would have radiated the same energy, according their research article , published in Seismological Research Letters on March 13.

With these calculations, the study found the most energetic signals during these songs:

  • "Shake It Off" with a local magnitude of 0.851
  • "You Belong with Me" with a local magnitude of 0.849
  • "Love Story" with a local magnitude of 0.800
  • "Cruel Summer" with a local magnitude of 0.741
  • "22" with a local magnitude of 0.645

The energy released during each song is over a few minutes, rather than a second in the case of an earthquake, explained Gabrielle Tepp, a staff seismologist at the Caltech Seismological Laboratory who oversaw the study. "So the magnitude calculated from the maximum amplitude of shaking is much lower (about -2)," she told CBS News.

The researchers determined that crowd motion was the primary source of the concert tremor signals, not the speaker system and instruments.

They also analyzed three other concerts at SoFi in the summer of 2023: Morgan Wallen, Metallica and Beyoncé.

"Overall, the results from these concerts are similar to those from the Swift concerts and support the audience-source hypothesis," the research article says. "The (local magnitude) of the songs was in the same range as the Swift concerts, although none matched or exceeded the strongest Swift signal."

Swift's Eras Tour has broken multiple records, including becoming the first to gross over $1 billion , according to Pollstar. Swift is currently on a brief break from shows, with the tour starting again on May 9 in Paris after the release of her eleventh studio album, The Tortured Poets Department , on April 19.
