Our tailor made holiday to Costa Rica was one of our best holiday experiences ever. Our travel consultant Steph was so helpful and informative from our first conversation, as to what we were looking for.The organization from booking our flights, to arranging each transfer, booking our experiences, and hotels was fantastic. Australian Experience

After discussions Rachel put together our experience around the dates we needed. It involved flights, hotels and a rail experience - all of which flowed perfectly, the hotels she booked for us were all excellent. Before we left the UK Rachel rang to check we were all good to go and when we returned she rang to find out how it had gone - excellent customer service. Another successful trip with Trailfinders

Used Trailfinders several times-have had a great experience every time.The latest trip-a 3 week private tour round Vietnam & Cambodia was exceptional. Everything worked liked clockwork and the whole holiday felt special. We rang our local branch in Liverpool but got put through to Jeremy in London. He couldn’t have been more helpful. We gave him an itinerary we had found elsewhere and asked him to sort for us. He added in trips we hadn’t thought of, and when we said we didn’t want to do a trip he had booked in he got back to us after speaking to a ‘Vietnamese expert’ and said we should definitely do it, which we then agreed and it was the right decision! The guides and drivers were waiting for us each morning in the hotels and at every airport. The guides were very very knowledgeable and it was great to have 1-1 time with them-it gave us more flexibility. Would highly recommend.

Thank you Trailfinders for a fantastic India holiday

I usually do my own holiday bookings for Europe and the US - but for a visit to India, with all its many unknowns and tricky bureaucracy, I thought it would be wise to use an agent for the first time, and I'm very glad I did. Trailfinders organised a very smooth trip, with super-efficient transfers from one city and hotel to the next, and a wonderful driver (Sajid) and comfy vehicle throughout, and it all went off without a hitch. In hindsight, I should maybe have tweaked the itinerary a bit because we probably tried to cram too many sites/monuments/castles into each day, and it all became a bit exhausting ... but that's my fault, not theirs, and I'll know better for next time. I'm giving Trailfinders 5 stars, and I'll definitely be using them for our trip to Japan next year.

What do I do if my passport is lost or stolen abroad?

You should report any loss or thefts of passports to the local police in the country you are in as soon as possible. You will need the crime reference details they provide for the APS1 (which is the Lost or Stolen Passport Notification) form. You should also report the loss or theft to the Irish embassy of the country you are in. You can get details of your local Irish embassy wherever you are by visiting the website of the Department of Foreign Affairs. The Irish embassy will issue you with replacement travel documents so you can travel back.

When will my documents arrive through the post?

Normally, we say to allow between 5 to 10 working days between you buying your policy and your documents being received in the post. However, we do always aim for your policy pack to be with you sooner. You can still travel with a printed copy of your emailed documents if the posted documents don't arrive in time.

What do I need to take on holiday with me?

We advise that you take your travel insurance certificate and the relevant policy wording booklet away with you.

Wintersports cover

We will pay (up to the amount specified, based on the policy you choose) for:

loss, theft or damage to winter sports equipment, the hire of winter sports equipment (should your equipment be lost stolen or damaged), the cost of your ski pack (should you become ill or injured), extra travel and accommodation expenses if your outward or final return journey is delayed due to avalanche, and if the piste is closed for more than 12 hours.

Private health insurance discount

If you and each additional traveller on this policy have private health insurance in place providing inpatient medical cover abroad to a minimum of €55,000 per person per claim, you qualify for a reduced premium on your travel insurance. This cover must remain in place for the full duration of your policy with us.

In the event of a claim for inpatient medical treatment abroad, you must claim on your private health insurance first. The benefits payable under your travel insurance policy will commence once you have reached the limit on your private health insurance policy.

I'm traveling the US from Italy for two months this summer. Their policy looks great, but have been had pressed to find reviews on their insurance. If you've purchased travel insurance with them (NOT TOURS or other travel arrangements), I'd like to know what your experience was.

I used them once for this (UK based) but it was a good 15years ago. They were simply the best price at the time for the cover I needed, and were underwritten by a reputable name (AXA, I think).

I haven't used them since then, simply because when I looked they haven't been the cheapest option for the cover required from a reputable underwriter. That was for a one year worldwide (including US) policy for two of us.

I didn't have to claim, so I cannot review the most important part of insurance, but their documentation was clear. The details of what was and what wasn't covered, variants and the cost given openly and so purchase and maintenance was easy.

I have no fixed supplier - I buy each year based upon my likely travel arrangements, who is giving the best price for a policy that covers my needs, while having a known reputation as to how much they do ot don't mess you around at the point of claim.

That changes from year to year - the current policy is with Endsleigh but they are a UK firm/trading name and so won't be applicable to the Italian market.

I have not used Trailfinders so cannot comment. True Traveller has met my cover needs and been the cheapest for a couple of annual policies and a coupe of single trips (they have not always been the cheapest though). They offer cover in Europe. TT do not usually appear on comparison websites.

Thanks for your replies. I wound up purchasing my policy through Trailfinders. I did a lot of shopping around, and they seem to offer good coverage and have a US toll-free phone number for medical emergencies, which was a selling point. Globelinks came in a close second. They offers higher coverage in most areas (but not the ones that meant the most to me), and were slightly more expensive for their annual policy, That, on top of having to contact them in the UK from the US, dropped them down to second place.

I am just seeing your response now - for some reason, I haven't received updates on my original post. The timing, however, is optimal, as I will be traveling to the US next week, and once again, looking for travel insurance. What may make it more challenging is that I am now over 65 and it seems the few companies that provide travel insurance to the US have an age restriction, and not all UK based companies provide insurance to to people traveling from Italy; where I currently have my residence.

Being injured overseas (or anywhere) can be traumatic, in and of itself. If I understand correctly, I'm glad you were able to settle your claim in the end.

I have used Trailfinders Insurance products on and off for the last 15 years and have taken out single trip, annual policies as well as year long extended trip cover. I have had occasion to claim on a couple of occasions and the claims were processed quickly and efficiently when dealing with their then CSA claims agency.

Trailfinders are a travel agency NOT an insurer, so I would check who their underwriters are but Trailfinders are a highly respected company so I can’t imagine they would use anyone without a good track record.

They do insure EU residents so your Italian residence won’t be an issue, neither will your age. however it is essential to disclose ALL pre existing conditions and medical history (easily done by telephone) however minor they may seem which may result in an additional premium. if you don’t do this your cover may be invalid.

My current policy is with Virgin which offer similar levels of cover (but for me they have been cheaper over the last two years. they also offer the facility to mix and match the cover to suit your particular needs which can reduce premiums e.g. if you are not bothered about baggage cover etc.

both companies will quote online so I would check out both. also, if you have any other trips planned in the next year, an annual policy may be cost effective.

I wrote my reply a few days and didn't realize I hadn't hit the "post" button. I have checked out Virgin, which seems to be more expensive than Trailfinders.. Their website indicates that you can customize your insurance, but there's no option for doing so - the links didn't work. Unfortunately, if I understood correctly, there's a fee for calling them with questions. I'm looking in to a couple of other possibilities, but. happy to know you had a good experience with claims going through Trailfinders, so will use them as my back up.

Will not retrieve my booking

This is a terrible app. It will randomly retrieve my booking and randomly not retrieve my booking. If I do manage to get into my booking it does not recognise the current date and brings me back to the start of my booking so I have to scroll through to the current phase of my trip. I cannot not currently view my booking so I can’t remember any more of what else annoys me about this app😜

Let us down badly

We booked a once in a lifetime Australia and NZ trip with trailfinders, however there was one problem after another which eventually ended with us losing hundreds of pounds as their consultant took my name down wrong. Then lied through her teeth about it. We were so incensed we booked it with Travelbag in the end, thank god for a reputable company.

Appalling service

I have never written a review before but feel that incensed and appalled by the service provided by trailfinders that it is only fair to share this. When I booked my holiday with Trailfinders, it was with the knowledge that I would no doubt pay a slight premium for using their services to get a full packaged holiday. I have no issue with this until a problem occurs which I have already paid for their service. For them then to completely put the problem in my court is an appalling situation which culminated in the MD phoning me to say tough luck they have done all they can, which was basically nothing! Amazingly he agreed that I was not receiving good customer service but still Trailfinders deemed it ok for me to loose a day from my holiday and the only way to resolve this was at my cost. As for the fact I have paid for parking and airport lounge, more tough luck. Solution orientated Trailfinders are not!!

Very Professional

Very knowledgable staff, this is the reason why we have booked for the 4th time with them. Prices better than direct with the airline. None of this booking and the company wait for better prices, when you check with the airline your flight, seats, meals are booked. They phone you back when they say they will, the most professional and trustworthy travel agent we know.

Nice to deal with real people, but insurance not good

Booked to USA and got some good tickets, patient people, good prices, was generally very happy. It was let down by the insurance. I got an annual policy with them and needed to claim on another trip to France, a few months later. This was by coach to Stansted, to France by Ryanair and hire car to the accommodation in France. Unfortunately I fell ill and the insurers sent a form that applied only to a package holiday and tour operator, not to separately booked segments. It was very, very hard to fill it out since it did not apply to the kind of trip I had taken. But I got a medical certificate saying I'd been too ill to travel and a letter from the French accommodation saying I hadn't been able to come, and a note that the car hire in France had not been used, but they still refused to pay out on the coach and Ryanair because I couldn't PROVE I hadn't caught the coach to Stansted and I couldn't PROVE I'd missed the Ryanair flights. My husband was booked with a different insurer and claimed for just the same things as me (we each claimed 50 percent of the joint items) but his claim was paid in full. I am really out of pocket due to the inflexibility of this old fashioned insurance offered by Trailfinders and it has quite put me off them. I would have thought they could get a more up to date and flexible insurance, and this definitely did not seem like a good deal to me.

Great Service, Great prices and happy to help

While me and my wife were looking for holidays, we found hundreds of different companies, however we stumbled across Trailfinders and booked the idea package. It was excellent value for money, and totally hassle free, with no pressure atall we did have confusion with an extra we had selected, however they went out of their way to correct the mistake, and make us happy! - Really looking forward to October now!

Fantastic service and hassle free holiday

We booked a trip to Penang and Kuala Lumpur with the Nottingham branch of Trailfinders and the service we received was fantastic, they are so helpful and knowledgeable. They arranged 3 hotels, the flights (they even recommended selecting seats upstairs on the A380 so we were on a row of 2 seats rather than downstairs on a row of 3) and all the transfers between airports and hotels. We even made a few changes to the booking and they managed to get us some more special offers on the hotels. It was so refreshing to book with a travel agent who provide excellent service without any trouble or hidden/extra charges for making changes. I would recommend them to anyone who is thinking of long haul travel!

Fantastic trouble free holiday in Auz

Thanks to Sarah in the Dublin office for organizing a trouble free itinerary for our trip to Singapore, Western Australia and South Africa. Firstly we couldn't believe the value of the air fares for our trip ( I could not beat this booking even on the internet). Everything went according to plan in Singapore, what a beautiful stepping stone to Australia. In WA we had a motor home organized through Maui, first time, it was super, would do it all again in a flash, no problems as Sarah recommended the Premium Pack, even when we had a glitch with the return date- we booked to reture on a sunday, but because Maui do not work on a 24 hour period hire like car hire the first day was counted as a day and the contracted return date was therefore Saturday. When we contacted Maui, their Customer Service was excellent, they arranged for us to return the motor home on the Sunday as required, even though they were closed, as not additional cost, obviously they value Trailfinders as an agent !! Thanks again to Trailfinders, this was our third time experiencing their expertise and value, and we have no problem recommending them to any of our friends. Well Done Trailfinders!! ref RADZZ2

An excelent service, would not hesitate to use them again or recommend them.

It's easy to rate a company when everything goes right with a trip, but the mark of a good company is how they treat you when things go wrong. During a recent trip to Australia, we followed some advice from one of their staff. However due to a particular holiday at the time of our trip the advice did not turn out to be correct and it cost us quite a lot of money to change flights. When this happened, we called from Australia and one of the managers spoke to us, she told us not to worry, keep hold of the receipt and contact them when we got back. This calm advice helped us enjoy the rest of the holiday. On returning to the UK we followed up on the issue. We very quickly got a response from the general manager and a full refund on the cost of changing the flights. No company is ever 100%, but the polite professional and speedy support this company gave us is testament that they stand behind their reputation and look after their customers exceedingly well. We will definitely be using them again.

Excellent knowledge, very flexible

Not the cheapest way to arrange our honeymoon, but they made the whole process so simple that i'm really glad we decided to use them. We used their wedding list feature and it worked out perfectly for us. The girl we dealt with (Nicky) was extremely knowledgable and helped us to customise our trip. We've used them twice now for round the world trips and as the sort of person who would normally book things independently to save money and increase flexibility, I really wouldn't bother doing it myself again.

Great service and reasonable prices

I've used Trailfinders for over 10 years and always find them helpful. Price-wise I find that if I book flights and hotels with them, the price is often better than I could get myself booking independently via an airline's website and, for example, hotels.com. Once they made a mistake with some eTickets, but they rectified the problem and refunded my extra costs without hassle. This is much more than I can say for another company I made the mistake of trying (The Flight Centre), but that's another story. Often, you only find out how good a company is when they have made a mistake. How they deal with the problem tells more about how they treat customers than when everything goes to plan. This year I have booked my holiday with Trailfinders again. They are always a pleasure to deal with and long may they stay that way.

Superb company

We went to america (Vegas and San Fransisco) earlier last year with trailfinders. We used the birmingham branch, the agent had travelled around the west coast and had loads of useful information and tips. We booked evening alcatraz (independant from trailfinders) and a grand canyon trip - both good advice from the agent as it made our holiday. Sorted everything for us re flights and hotel. We just needed a holiday to recover!!

Good Established Travel Company with NO CC Charges

I have just booked another flight with Trailfinders once again. Been using them for 17 years now, they have allays managed to get all my flights around the right price for my trips all over all over the world. Staff seem to have been to everywhere between them & know about getting you the customer, the best deals, times prices. What more do you need :) If you have never tried them, try for your next trip.

The absolute best travel company!

I've travelled with trailfinders a few times and they have been most professional and helpful on every occassion, coming up with helpful suggestions and some great deals too. The staff are knowledgeable and their service is second to none!I wouldn't go to anyone else!

Good Established Travel Company with NO CC Charges

I have just booked another flight with Trailfinders once again. Been using them for 17 years now, they have allays managed to get all my flights around the right price for my trips all over all over the world. Staff seem to have been to everywhere between them & know about getting you the customer, the best deals, times prices. What more do you need :) If you have never tried them, try for your next trip.

I've travelled with trailfinders a few times and they have been most professional and helpful on every occassion, coming up with helpful suggestions and some great deals too. The staff are knowledgeable and their service is second to none!I wouldn't go to anyone else!
