This was one of the best parts of our trip. You ride in a double decker bus that is actually from the UK. They were offering the 48 hr hop on hop off tour so that is what we did. We chose to ride the full route without getting off so we could see everything and could decide later if we wanted to come back to a stop. The bus was pretty empty and for quicker attractions like the floral clock and whirlpool the driver got off with us so we could snap a few closer pictures. These were the sort that were nice to take pics, but you wouldn't want to stop for a full hour stop for like you would for the boat ride or other stops offered. Even though my parents had been to Canada before they agreed that they saw more than going on their own since you don't need to navigate or google good tourist spots. The full route took about an hour and a half. They provided history of the area, gave pointers on what was around, and kept us entertained. If you choose to get off at a stop they come back to pick you up about an hour later. The driver said he also does wine tours on the weekends.

I'd like to give this a five star review. I just can't. So let me tell you the very fine things this company did and why I'd use them again. The reservation for this tour was easy and Sheila, at Double Deck Tours, was honest when she told me I would have no difficulty getting tickets for myself and my husband when we checked into the DoubleTree by Hilton in Niagara Falls, Canada. At the DoubleTree we spoke with their representative, Jesus, who explained the tour, where we would visit the next day, and we bought the tour. The bus showed up on time. We were the first stop for the bus and we garnered seats on the top in the front row. As the bus wasn't at full capacity, we were able to each have a separate seat. We visited behind Horseshoe Falls and tunnels after a short trip past the dam. Nadine gave us a lot of information about both the hydroelectric plant and the area in general with some amazing stats on how much water flows over the falls each minute...Oh My!!! Next we viewed a river whirlpool by crossing over on the Whirlpool Aerocar. What a treat for me as I've white water rafted and looking at those class 6 (maybe 7 if there was such a thing) scared me. I was glad I was way up high and if you look at my pictures you might feel the same!!! We visited the Flower Clock next after driving past the Niagara Parks Conservatory. Wish we'd had time to visit the Butterfly Conservatory. After a driving tour to see other sights pointed out we landed at the Hornblower Boat Tours. So glad to skip the lines and move to the front. It was a hot day and we were sweating as it was. The ride on the Hornblower was FAB! Used to be "Maid in the Mist", but they lost the bid to the Canadian concession "Hornblower." Now as to why I gave this group only three stars as I did have a stellar day. When I called Sheila at Double Deck, before I arrived, I was told I might like to book at the hotel as the walk back to the DoubleTree by Hilton was a six block walk up a steep hill and Niagara was experiencing a heat advisory. It was twenty extra US dollars per person, but well worth it considering a long day with lots of sight seeing, so being taken back to my hotel was a plus. However, more than three times during the day Nadine, our tour guide, expressed how many people liked to just stay at Victoria Park after the tour and not be returned to the DoubleTree. Saying it once was fabulous. Given the option was a wonderful thing. But for me the repeated statement gave me the opinion that they really didn't want to make the ten minute drive back to the DoubleTree. As it was, three couples returned. Niagara Falls was under a heat advisory! To top off the bad taste of these comments, we were told to return to the Welcome Center by 3pm to meet the bus. We got off the Hornblower at 2:50 pm. I felt very rushed as we fought our way through the crowds to get back as fast as we could, finally arriving at 3:05 pm. The bus wasn't even there. We waited for it to arrive. At least there was a place to sit in shade. Would I use this tour group again? Yes. Would I share with Nadine what her words suggested to me? I guess I am by this review. I would tell her how much of a turn off it was to think I would be left behind to take a difficult walk during a heat advisory which would be stressful to me.

We did the bucket list tour they were offering. I enjoyed most of the tour, but some things that bothered me, included in the ticket for the maid of the mist was the scenic trolley, that went down the hillside, this was closed and we were still charged for it. Also when buying the tickets they had a beautiful picture of the floral clock by the dam we would see. When we went by it there was no flowers, it was off season. I just think it was misleading to imply what we would see. Also we didn't stop but the tour guide explained if you make it back up to the floral clock on your own, you can go around the back and you can see the mechanics of how it works. We went back the next day, there is nothing behind the clock to let you see this. Also if you price out the cost they are more then double the cost if you go on your own to see the attractions.

e joined Double Decker bus tour it is really good choice because we had so much fun. Tour guide and driver are both nice. They both have Excellent customer service skills. But beware if you're using taxi cab. We arrived at the bus station from Toronto, took the taxi with male driver told him were dropping our belongings to our hotel and he said he knows where also to Double Deck bus tour. After dropping two back packs we left again to Double Deck bus office he said he doesn't know where it is , i told him Welcome Center corner of Clifton and Falls and still said he doesn't know, told him its only walking distance from the hotel and driver asked me who told me that and i said from the hotel, anyway we found it after many turns, i asked him how much and said $35.00 and asked again $35.00 so told him i will pay by Visa Card and he declined and he wants me to pay cash which i did. During our Double Deck tour we passed by the bus station and the cab driver was there again waiting for passengers. Told my story at the staff of double deck tour also hotel staff both told me that i have been had and i shouldn't had paid that's too much amount.

Our group of 8 LOVED the entire tour experience. Intergenerational trip with age span 15-75 and easy to do for all. Awesome that they picked up and dropped off from the Double Tree hotel. 6 claim the Horn Blower as the favorite part as we never had so much fun getting soaked!! 2 loved the aero car the best. Overall, we loved all of it! Might seem pricey, but truly believe well worth it as did not have to stand in long lines, worry about parking, or staying on any schedule. They did it all for us. Highly recommend bringing snacks as tour started at 10:30 and returned at 3:30. PBJ worked well for our crowd. Leader Janet and driver Chris did a fantastic job. Jesus at booking desk at hotel was also extremely helpful. So glad we went this route.

This tour company is great. The busses are cool and really clean and fun. The tour itself was great and the guide was informative. I cannot believe that no one has reviewed this yet. This tour company is a must do if you are in the Niagara falls area. We went to the Spanish Aerocar and all over the Niagara area and saw lots of fun touristy things. You get cute stickers too :)

Photo of Vishal M.

I would recommend this if you have kids (younger than 6 yrs) as they get free entry and you can show them around the falls from the top floor. The guides were friendly and knowledgeable. Definitely recommended on your first visit or for larger groups.

Learn more about how Niagara City Cruises is committed to respecting our crew, guests, and the natural environment. Click here to learn more.

Niagara Falls is a natural phenomenon that attracts millions of tourists every year. Whether you’re looking for adventure or relaxation, there are plenty of things to do in Niagara Falls that will make your trip unforgettable.

Niagara Falls History

The history of Niagara Falls is as vast and beautiful as the falls themselves. About 12,000 years ago, erosion from melting Ice Age glaciers created the Niagara River’s majestic waterfalls, which run along the border between Canada and the United States. These natural marvels are one of North America’s most popular tourist destinations in Niagara Falls State Park.

Due to its location on the southern end of Lake Erie and at the beginning of Lake Ontario, this region has always been an important transportation corridor for travelers heading westward across North America.

Fun Activities in Niagara Falls

Niagara Falls has something fun for everyone in your group, regardless of age. Here are a few of the most popular activities people do when visiting Niagara Falls.

Take a Boat Cruise

Niagara Falls is best experienced by taking a boat cruise. However, get closer than most tourists by taking an evening cruise where you can see how different lights play off each other at night. Niagara City Cruises is the official supplier to Niagara Parks, providing Canada’s only Niagara Falls boat tour experience.

Niagara City Cruises – Voyage to the Falls

The 20-minute Voyage to the Falls boat tour will take you on the journey of a lifetime! Enjoy breathtaking views of the Niagara Gorge, American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls, and come face-to-face with the famous Canadian Horseshoe Falls. Feel the thunderous roar and incredible power of one of the world’s most stunning natural wonders.

Niagara City Cruises – Falls Fireworks

Marvel at the nightly Niagara Falls Illumination light show from the water on the Falls Fireworks cruise . Every evening beginning at dusk, Niagara Falls is transformed into an incredible, multi-coloured water and light masterpiece. Then at 10:00 pm each night from Victoria Day weekend to Canadian Thanksgiving (weather permitting), enjoy an unforgettable evening in Niagara Falls with a jaw-dropping fireworks displays against the backdrop of the American and Canadian Horseshoe Falls.

Niagara City Cruises is located at 5920 Niagara Pkwy, Niagara Falls, ON L2E 6X8, Canada.

Outdoor Recreation

Niagara Falls parks, trails and gardens are easily accessible to biking, hiking, walking – or even just a nice afternoon picnic. The Niagara Parks Botanical Gardens offers 40 hectares (99 acres) of beautifully maintained gardens to explore and is home to the Butterfly Conservatory , providing a truly enriching experience for all seasons. The heart of the Niagara Parks, Queen Victoria Park celebrates every season in style with a visual spectacle, from daffodils and tulips in spring to tree branches covered with the freezing mist of the Falls in winter. Niagara gardens such as the Parks Floral Showhouse , Centennial Lilac Garden , Floral Clock , Dufferin Islands , Oakes Garden Theatre and Queenston Heights Park provide inspiration and delight. Whether by foot or bike, discover 56 kilometers (35 miles) of historical and horticultural sights along the Niagara River Recreational Trail , described by Sir Winston Churchill as “the prettiest Sunday afternoon drive in the world.” The Recreational Trail connects Fort Erie to Niagara-on-the-Lake , meandering through parkland with views of the Niagara River and winding past places of historical and cultural interest, Niagara Falls, wineries, lookout points and beautiful homes.

Book a Tour

Local companies offer sightseeing tours of Niagara and the Falls, while visitors may also indulge a particular interest with a themed Niagara tour. Niagara wine tours traverse the region in search of the perfect Chardonnay, double decker tours lend a different perspective to the city, or Niagara adventure tours take visitors on a whirlwind of the area’s most exciting attractions.

Taking a tour in Niagara Falls will allow you to interact with knowledgeable tour guides that can give you all the valuable tid- bits of everything Niagara. Often times they take the burden a way of finding your way, parking and in some cases front of the line options at Niagara Falls attractions. Taking a combination tour between Niagara-on-the-Lake and Niagara Falls is a great way to spend the week in Niagara.

Go Shopping

Head to the Canada One Factory Outlet on Lundy’s Lane with over 20 brand name stores or visit the Outlet Collection in Niagara-on-the-Lake , a unique open air collection of over 100+ brand name stores.

Within the heart of the tourist district there are also many shopping options. On Clifton Hill there are a number of shops where you can pick up souvenirs from your visit to Niagara Falls.

If you are looking for shopping decadence then we would recommend the Fallsview Casino Resort Shopping Galleria , great shops integrated with great restaurants and a Casino right there for a one stop shopping experience.

See the Falls from Skylon Tower

The Skylon Tower is a 456-foot tower with a 360-degree observation deck, giving fantastic views of the falls. You can also see Lake Ontario, Navy Island, and Toronto.

Walk Across the Rainbow Bridge

The Rainbow Bridge is a pedestrian suspension bridge that spans the Niagara River between Rainbow Boulevard in Niagara Falls, New York, and Prospect Avenue in Niagara Falls, Ontario.

The bridge was built in 1938 by the Canadian Pacific Railway company to carry passengers between both sides of the river. Still, it is now open to pedestrians 24 hours a day and year-round. Canada and the United States have designated the structure as a National Historic Civil Engineering Site. In addition, it won an award for its beauty at its dedication ceremony.

Take a Helicopter Tour

Helicopter tours are a great way to see the falls from a different perspective. While you won’t be able to fly directly over the falls, you can see them from above. You’ll also get breathtaking views of Lake Ontario and its surrounding towns. Book your tour in advance because they sell out quickly on busy days.

Wineries, Breweries and Distilleries in Niagara Falls

Niagara Ontario Canada has become famous for its wines. Whether you are looking for wineries in the Niagara Region, or a specific winery in Niagara-on-the-Lake , Niagara is gaining international recognition as ‘must visit’ destination to enjoy a beautiful country escape with a bit of food and drink. Twenty-five vineyards dot the landscape just 15 to 20 minutes outside Niagara Falls, Canada in quiet and charming Niagara on-the-Lake. The entire Niagara wine region along the shores of Lake Ontario is home to over 50 wineries. Discover the best of the region’s vineyards by following the Wine Route of Ontario through the countryside by car, bike or guided tour . Many Niagara wineries have restaurants, where they pair their fine wines with regional cuisine, and an overnight outing can easily be arranged at nearby a bed-and-breakfast or inn for a Niagara Falls romantic getaway . And if you fall in love with our wine, consider planning a Niagara vacation around one of our popular annual Niagara festivals . The Niagara Wine Festival, which occurs annually in autumn, includes tours and tastings at Niagara vineyards, concerts, Niagara cuisine, artisan shows, and family entertainment. The Niagara Icewine Festival in January celebrates Ontario’s most famous wine in a winter wonderland setting, and the Niagara New Vintage Festival in summer gives visitors a chance to be the first to try the year’s wines.

Visit Old Fort Erie

Old Fort Erie is a National Historic Site of Canada. It was built in 1812, making it one of the first buildings in Fort Erie. This fort was a key site during the War of 1812 and played an important part in Canadian history.

This remarkable site features three main attractions:

The restored Officers’ Quarters: houses exhibits that discuss life within a military garrison.

The Blockhouse: a fortified structure with artifacts from several wars, including American Independence, War of 1812, and World War II.

The Museum exhibits military life, including uniforms and weapons used by soldiers.

Ride the Niagara SkyWheel

If you like to get out of your comfort zone, then the Niagara SkyWheel is for you. The tallest observation wheel in Canada, the SkyWheel, is located on Clifton Hill in Niagara Falls. It has 42 air-conditioned gondolas that can fit up to 8 people each and offers spectacular views of both sides of the falls (especially at night). The best part? It’s open year-round.

Dine Looking at the Falls

Table Rock House Restaurant is located in the Table Rock complex, known for its views of Niagara Falls. The restaurant has a seasonal outdoor patio and indoor seating with great views of the falls. So whether you sit in the dining room or at the bar, you can enjoy your meal while looking out at one of nature’s most legendary displays: Niagara Falls.

Experience the Theatre in Niagara Falls

When looking for theatre or shows in Niagara Falls, there’s an eclectic choice of Niagara entertainment for the entire family at one of our many theatres. Enjoy a Las Vegas style magic show at the Greg Frewin Theatre , or see dramatic productions chronicling the history of Niagara Falls at the Niagara Falls Adventure Theatre . From family-friendly entertainment to a couples-night-out, select from one of these shows for a well-rounded Niagara Falls getaway.

If you’re a theatre buff then you’ve heard of the famous Shaw Festival Theatre in Niagara-on-the-Lake . Only minutes away from Niagara Falls, the Shaw Theatre host an amazing selection of must-see live theatre productions.

What is the Best Time of Year to See Niagara Falls?

The peak tourist season is summer. However, spring and fall provide for a quiet getaway if you prefer not to deal with crowds and long lines.

However, not to be overlooked, Niagara Falls has a breathtaking calm during winter when ice and snow turn the Falls into a majestic winter castle.

The weather at Niagara Falls can dramatically affect whether your trip will go smoothly or turn into a disaster zone. Between June and September (and even into early October), the average temperature is in the 80s. Spring and fall temperatures range from 40F to 70F, while the cold Canadian wind keeps winter below zero.

Make sure to wear layers no matter when you visit Niagara Falls, so you are prepared for any weather changes.

Is Niagara Falls in Canada or New York?

Niagara Falls is located in both countries because it lies on the border between Canada and the United States. However, activities, dining, accommodations, and shopping vary significantly between the Canadian and American sides.

Do I Need a Passport to Go to Niagara Falls, Canada?

Yes. A Passport (or a Passport Card or Enhanced Driver’s License if coming by land) is required for crossing the border into Canada unless you are age 15 or younger. Please visit the government website for any further details.

WY were fantastic. The hotels that were booked were above our expectations, central to all the tours we were booked on. Instructions regarding travel and meeting places were very clear and the included tours gave us a wonderful taste of each place, with a balance of free time for our own exploring. One of our flights was delayed by almost 6 hours (NOT WY’s fault) and we arrived in Toronto very early in the morning. WY organised our driver, contacted the hotel and thus we avoided what could have been a difficult situation in an unfamiliar city. Thank you WY - We absolutely recommend you as a reasonably priced, high quality, well organised tour group!!

Reviews of niagara falls tours.

Our trip was in Eastern Canada the first of July 2023. It was a nightmare to figure out how to get to our hotel from the train and subways, up and down soooo many stairs then walking the rest of the way with our luggage mind you. Definitely call for a ride to the hotel. Our first hotel was nice in Toronto. Niagara Falls was fun and definitely something to experience. The tour buses on our whole trip were comfortable and we had great drivers, especially Mike. He was so personable and took really good care of us! The second hotel in Ottawa was good too but when we went to Quebec City that was the worst hotel I’ve ever been in! The beds were uncomfortable, the air conditioner didn’t work well at all, and the shower was messed up and only ran hot water. Then the water wouldn’t shut off so we had to call someone to shut it off with tools. The tub didn’t have anything on the bottom for you to not slip so I slipped getting in and tore the towel rack down which was just glued on. I ended up having to place a towel in the shower where we could take a shower and not fall down. The people that worked there were rude. The carpet in the hallways was disgusting and coming up which is a major trip hazard. One couple that was on the tour with us showed me a piece of metal that fell from his ceiling in his room and hit him in the head. We had to stay two miserable nights there! Our next hotel in Montreal was okay and the last hotel they put us in back in Toronto was a very nice hotel and had a wonderful breakfast. Our guide was nice and informative too. We enjoyed seeing everything we did either while in the bus or walking around the cities. I’m not sure if I will do another group tour or not. Guess we’ll see….
5 stars for the sights, scenery, hotels and food. Janet did a great job stepping up as our guide. She prepared us for the day ahead giving us details and times and was sensitive to our needs. Domingo did a great job driving. He can turn that bus on a dime.
