What travelers are saying about our guided trips
Tips for planning tours & travel with us.
Here at Go Ahead, we make it easy to plan a tour. All you have to do is decide which of our travel packages excites you most, and when you’d like to travel. (A springtime escape to Europe , anyone?) If you can’t decide, we’ll help you narrow down our vacation packages and find the perfect trip.
From there, we’ll take care of the rest. For travelers who book flights with us, our in-house team of travel experts will get to work finding flights with our trusted airline partners. And as you count down to tour, we’ll be busy booking clean, stylish, comfy hotels, planning meals at locally loved restaurants, and securing tickets to top museums, cultural sites, and, if it applies to your tour, special events.
Having our team of travel experts take care of every last logistical detail is one of 10 benefits of a guided tour versus independent travel .
When browsing our 175-plus vacation packages, here are a few things to keep in mind to help you find the just-right tours for travel to the places you’ve been dreaming of visiting.
- Your travel style. Are you into wildlife, adventure, or food and wine? Do you want to take a deep dive into a particular destination or religion? Want to experience a special event, or explore with a small group? We offer escorted tours designed around these travel styles and others so that travelers can have the experience that suits them best.
- Where you want to go. Whether you’ve long dreamed of exploring America’s national parks, Scotland’s pristine landscapes, or Thailand’s golden temples, you can do it on our guided tours. Some of our itineraries are designed to offer travelers a deeper dive into a single country. Others take travelers to multiple countries in a single trip (think Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, or Portugal, Spain, and Morocco).
- When you want to go. Sure, there’s nothing like Paris in the springtime. But maybe seeing the City of Light against a backdrop of fiery fall foliage is more what you have in mind. We’ll make that happen. We offer dozens of departures per tour, and in the case of some trips, we offer departures all year round. And, we make tours available for booking up to two years in advance. Having more time to pay, and more departure dates to choose from, are among the eight benefits of booking a trip years in advance .
- Special or seasonal events. Have you always wanted to see cherry blossoms blooming in Japan? Or sip hot, mulled wine while wandering around a European Christmas market ? Perhaps witnessing the Great Migration is at the top of your travel wish list. Events like these, and others, only happen during certain times of year, so be sure to check out tour packages for travel that occur at the same time.
- Duration. Our tours range from six days to 22 days. Want to enjoy a quick break? Consider our shorter tours, which we offer in destinations such as Iceland, Spain, and Amsterdam. Have more time to spare? A 10-day trip to Scandinavia , or a 22-day tour of Australia and New Zealand , could be just the ticket.
- Who you want to travel with. Many of our group trips are designed for groups of 15 to 38 travelers. (Think: more opportunities to make new friends.) If you prefer a more intimate experience, consider one of our Small Group Tours, which are designed for groups of 10 to 22 travelers. Want to explore solely with your friends or family? We happily craft Private Tours and Customized Tours for groups of seven travelers or more.
For help narrowing our trips down to the perfect tour, try our Tour Match Quiz →
Our trips are bookable directly through our website. (Putting $99 down with AutoPay , our interest-free payment plan, is all it takes to secure your spot on tour.) If you have questions or can’t decide which tour is right for you, you can call us at 1-800-590-1161 . We’re here to help.
We offer more than 175 tour packages. They include:
- Guided group tours. These trips are designed for groups of 15 to 38 travelers and include Multi-Country Tours , single-country tours, and City Stay Tours , which give travelers an opportunity to explore a particular city in depth.
- Small Group Tours. A more intimate tour experience with a group size of just 10 to 22 travelers. Small group travel styles include Food & Wine Tours, Adventure Tours, and Safari & Wildlife Tours.
- Special Event Tours. Typically capped at 35 or 38 travelers, these trips are designed to capture the magic of special and/or seasonal events, such as Oktoberfest, Oberammergau, New Year’s Eve, St. Patrick’s Day, Sakura (cherry blossom) season, fall foliage, Christmas markets of Europe, Halloween, and more. Find the perfect tour for you by browsing our Special Event tours .
- Private and Customized Tours. Have a particular interest you want to explore? We happily plan Private and Customized Tours for groups of seven or more travelers.
The price of our trip packages includes:
- A specially trained Tour Director, who will accompany your group on tour, from the moment you touch down in your destination to the time you take off again for home

7 Day Southwest National Parks Grand Canyon Camping Tour
We thoroughly enjoyed the 7-day tour of the US southwest . We love the destinations included in the tour, every place we visited is on our bucket list. I wanted to pinch myself every day that I visited those iconic and beautiful places as shown in my photos below. We enjoyed all the extra, optional experiences that were suggested by the tour guide. They added more fun to the tour. The Hummer tour in Moab, Utah was one of the optional experiences and it was a blast! Not only it’s fun, you get to see the amazing scenery during the sunset. One previous review mentioned he or she was forced to participate in the Navajo taco dinner in Monument Valley. That comment is not true. You have a choice not to do that and the guide can make a different arrangement for you. The optional Navajo taco dinner is one of the highlights of the tour that we will remember for a long time. It would be a shame not to have this cultural experience when you get to meet Navajo people when you are in the Navajo Nation! Our tour guide, John did a fantastic job. He was full of enthusiasm and energy. He kept the tour well organized and always provided information we needed. We highly recommend the tour.

7 day Southwest National Parks Grand Canyon Tour
Amazing tour! I can’t say enough about this company. We had a fantastic tour guide, amazing fun group, great weather- all around best experience of my life. Really professional tour company- highly highly highly recommended.
Hiking Utah's Mighty 5
Fantastic experience. The hikes were all different but the landscapes equally stunning. Our CEO was excellent in his knowledge and his guidance of the group. There was alot of driving but it was the only way to see all 5 Parks, and was definitely worth it. It was a full on tour, but then that is what we wanted and paid for. Worth every penny!

Wild West – 5 days
I had a wonderful time. The guided tour was great. The guide Jacob and Brenda were fantastic.
Western USA National Parks Loop
We had a wonderful tour. Our tour guide was John Harris, he did an outstanding job making sure everyone had a great experience, had enough water and went out of his way too accommodate everyone’s dietary needs. We would highly recommend taking this tour, leave all the worries to your tour guide just sit back be driven to all the parks with lunch and snacks provided each day. Great way to experience the parks.
Vegas to San Fran
Mighty 5 From Las Vegas
My wife and I had a wonderful week and experience in Utah! Everything was handled and we had a great trip. Our tour guide, Dave Showalter, was very knowledgeable, helpful, and patient with us throughout the trip. We were able to see and experience the 5 national parks along with some extras thrown in as well. Our small group was comfortable, friendly, and everyone contributed to us having an amazing week!
- Cultural Photography
Magnificent West - 7 Days
Excellent trip. There was a lot of driving but it was worth it. We had excellent guides with information that wasn't listed on the website. There was a lot of driving but many stops to break that up. I have been on a number of tours in America and Europe and found the hotels on this tour to much nicer than in the past. The tours of Monument Valley and Antelope Canyon were nothing less than SPECTACULAR. The guides on the bus and at the sites were more than knowledgeable. The bus was top of the line. I have already spread the name of this company to friends and family. Next year I will be looking for my next trip with this company. Judy Lockie, Ontario, Canada.
Mighty 5 From Salt Lake City
I would like to add that the communication between tour radar and us was poor. No notice of change of first night hotel was passed on to us and the start n finish dates are not discussed AT all. It is really a 6 day tour not 8 day tour as advertised. Other than that Southwest Tours were fantastic it was tour radar that let us down.
Majestic Alaska (10 Days)
This was an excellent experience
- €100 deposit on some dates Some departure dates offer you the chance to book this tour with a lower deposit.

Nature's Best: Alaska
We loved everything except the boat tour out of Seward. The seas were way too rough to go out. It was the final tour of the year on that boat. It should of been cancelled and refunded in full. We received $50 each back because the tour was shortened from 6 hours to 5 hours. I repeat again. Waste of time. I did not take a picture. People were throwing up (plenty of them). Did not see any whales. We were notified the day before that the seas could be rough. Globus should of taken the initiative and cancelled. Did not have a good time at all.

American Parks Trail (Classic, End Denver, 9 Days)
The trip was great! The tour director and the driver both were very knowledgeable.
What people love about Fully Guided Tours in USA
Everything was great organized, our CEO Megan was so kind and well prepared.
Great adventure trip. Guide Joseph is personable and attentive to the needs and quirks of each traveler. His extensive knowledge of the region's geology, history, animals and plant life enhanced our incredible trip. He gave us recommendations for hikes commensurate with individual abilities in Zion and Bryce Canyon national Parks. Joseph led hikes in the spectacular Arches and Canyonlands National Parks where we spent 2 nights in Moab, Utah. Some of our group chose to relax in Moab on the second day, while the rest of the group hiked different trails for more amazing views. Next were the stunning views of Monument Valley and Navajo Nation followed by a snowy Grand Canyon. Optional side trips: Antelope Canyon should not be missed. The Navajo taco dinner was tasty and informative. The hummer tour was unremarkable. Unfortunately, weather grounded the Grand Canyon helicopters.

To help you decide which method is right for you, U.S. News compiled 16 of the city's top tours, considering traveler sentiment and expert opinion. Tours, which start and end near Fisherman's Wharf, are generally available daily at 8:30 and 11 a.m. as well as 2 and 5 p.m. The van can accommodate up to seven passengers. Tickets start at $85 per person. Children 4 and younger are only permitted on private tours. The company also runs a night tour.

Travelers say the portions are generous and recommend arriving to the tour hungry.
Tours are generally offered daily at 10:30 a.m. with an additional 2:30 p.m. tour available on select days. Tickets cost approximately $75 for adults, $50 for youths ages 8 to 13 and $25 for children ages 2 to 7; infants 1 and younger can tag along for free. Still hungry? Consider the company's Chinatown tours.

The tent — the Museum of the American Revolution ’s signature artifact — served as the battlefield home, strategic meeting place and office quarters for General Washington, and the exhibition tells the stories of the many individuals who worked to preserve and pass down this vital symbol of the American republic. Plus, spring break events continue this week, including guided neighborhood walking tours, historical pop-up talks and diamond eagle craft-making (through Sunday, April 7, 2024).

As 2024 enters its second quarter, the music industry is showing no signs of slowing down. Several top artists are planning show-stopping tours throughout the United States — and the world. Here are some of the most highly-anticipated concerts you can attend this coming spring.
Taylor Swift
Why not start with the biggest pop superstar on the planet? Taylor Swift is already getting ready to spin her fans into a frenzy with her upcoming album, "The Tortured Poets Department," and will supplement this by continuing her "Eras" tour — already the most successful concert tour in history. Swift is currently on a hiatus, but the Eras Tour will resume in Paris on May 9 and run through the spring and summer in 12 European countries, including the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, Italy, Switzerland and more, before coming back to North America this fall.
Olivia Rodrigo
Another pop sensation, Olivia Rodrigo, is building off the continued hype from her 2023 LP, "Guts." She is now embarking on "The Guts World Tour," the second tour for Rodrigo, who at only 21 already has a slew of Grammy nominations (and several wins) under her belt. This tour has made recent headlines over a contraception controversy surrounding abortion rights groups that promote at her concerts. Rodrigo will perform in seven North American cities through the end of April before heading overseas to Europe in May.

The Rolling Stones
An iconic group from the British Invasion is back with their first concert tour in two years. The Rolling Stones, considered one of the greatest rock bands in history, will embark on their "Hackney Diamonds" tour this April, playing in 16 North American cities through the end of July. Fans of the Stones should expect to "experience Mick, Keith and Ronnie play their most popular hits," the concert tour's page said, as well as hear "fan favorite deep cuts and music from their new album 'Hackney Diamonds.'" The album is the band's first original material in 18 years.
Madonna
Fans of Madonna can celebrate the singer on her aptly-named "Celebration Tour," the pop singer's 12th concert tour that will run through the end of April. Unlike prior tours, this outing is not in promotion of a new album — it is instead described as a "retrospective tour" highlighting Madonna's decades-long career. The tour began in the United Kingdom and made its way through European countries throughout 2023, but is currently running throughout the United States. It is slated to end with a series of five concerts in Mexico City.
Ever since he broke onto the world stage with 2013's "Take Me to Church," Hozier has been generating headlines. 2023 was no different, as Hozier released his successful third LP, and is now following it up with a tour. The tour , named after the album, " Unreal Unearth ," will travel to 28 U.S. cities from April to June before heading to Europe. Once across the pond, Hozier will tour numerous European cities before coming back to the U.S.
Blink-182 may be experts in "All the Small Things," but one thing that isn't small is the rock band's ongoing world tour. The tour comes on the heels of the band's tenth album, "One More Time...," and marks the return of guitarist Tom DeLonge, who had left the band nearly a decade prior. The tour has already produced a "healthy mix of nostalgia and adoration for the recently reunited classic lineup," Variety said. It is currently in South America, where Blink-182 will play shows through mid-April.
Bruce Springsteen
Bruce Springsteen was forced to go on hiatus from his world tour last year after suffering a bout of peptic ulcer disease — but now the Boss (and his E Street Band) is back. Springsteen relaunched his tour on March 19, sending a message to fans days before the show assuring them he was "going to rock you into the ground." Springsteen has since rescheduled the 24 shows he was forced to postpone, and is also slated to play additional shows in Europe and the U.S. throughout March, April and May.
Janet Jackson
Janet Jackson is one of the best-selling music artists of all time, garnering a heap of Grammy Awards and a spot in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Her latest move is the "Janet Jackson: Together Again" tour, a name harkening back to her hit 1997 album "The Velvet Rope." The youngest child of the iconic Jackson family has mainly been touring in the United States, though she has also featured stops in the Pacific. She will perform in the Bahamas in April, then return to the U.S. in May with her first concert at the Las Vegas Festival Grounds.
Chris Stapleton
One of the biggest country music stars in the world is embarking on a U.S. tour to match. Chris Stapleton has begun his 2024 "All-American Road Show" to much fanfare, and it comes in conjunction with his third album, "Higher," being released in November of last year. The 10-time Grammy Award winner started the tour earlier this year, and will be crisscrossing the U.S. throughout the spring. This includes shows in North Dakota, Minnesota, California, Louisiana, Indiana, Florida and more. But the country star isn't limiting his tour to the spring, as Stapleton has a schedule of shows throughout 2024.
Mitski recently added additional tour dates to promote her seventh LP, "The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We," from last year. This means the singer-songwriter will be performing shows in an astounding 15 cities in the U.S., Mexico and Europe from March to May. The tour is the culmination of a meteoric rise; Mitski has recently leveraged the success of her hit single "My Love Mine All Mine," which was her first song to crack the Billboard Hot 100. She is also slated to write music for a Broadway adaptation of the Netflix series "The Queen's Gambit" and counts former President Barack Obama among her fans.

Vodka Museum Tour with transport (excursion only)
Lena, our guide in Moscow was excellent. She was very knowledgable and could answer any question we had for her. We liked that she could pick up on our interests and take us places we might not have thought of to go. When we realized that one of the places we had chosen to see would probably not be that interesting to us, she was able to arrange entry to the Diamond Fund and the Armoury for us. Riding the Metro with Lena was a real adventure and a lot of fun. In Saint Petersburg we found Anna well versed in the history of the Tsars and in the Hermitage collection. Arkady in Veliky Novgorod was a very good guide and answered all of our questions with ease. Novgorod was perhaps a long way to go for a day trip, but we did enjoy it. Vasily was a great driver to have and kept us safe with good humour and skill. We enjoyed ourselves so much, my daughter says she is already planning to return. We would both have no hesistation to recommend ExpresstoRussia to anyone we know.
Just wanted to let you know that My grandson Bruno and I couldn´t have been more pleased with our week in Moscow (6/15 - 6/21). We were absolutely enchanted with the whole experience, including getting lost a couple of times in the Metro during our free time. Although both our guides (both Eleanas) were excellent, I would particularly commend the first one (she took us to the Tatiakov, the KGB tour, and to that beautiful cemetery where so many great Russian artists, authors, composers, musicians, militarists, and politicians are buried). Her knowledge is encyclopedic; and her understanding of today´s Russia as a product of its past was, for us, truly enlightening. I will be taking another tour in Russia, with my wife, within the next two or three years. I will be in touch with you when the time comes. Meanwhile, I will refer you to other potential visitors to Russia as I meet them.

Moscow, a City Like No Other
Moscow is Russia’s largest city with a population of between 12 and 13 million. It is also Europe’s largest city and when you visit Moscow, you can feel it. The layout and architecture of the city is eclectic, ranging from crooked, ancient streets and alleyways to wide, bustling boulevards, from medieval churches to Stalin skyscrapers and to modern, glass buildings towering over everything and of course in the center of it all is the Kremlin and the magnificent Red Square. Moscow is also home to a fantastic, efficient and very beautiful metro system – each station having its own special design. In fact, Express to Russia’s Moscow metro tours and excursions are some of our most popular attractions that we offer. On our Moscow tours, you will see this and more.
Moscow Tours centering on Russian History
Moscow has a long and interesting history and has been the capital of Russia in many of its different iterations – capital of the Grand Duchy of Moscow , the Russian Empire and of course the Soviet Union (who could ever forget the Soviet Union?). Moscow, was founded in the 12th century by Prince Yuri Dolgaruki (Yuri of the long arms – he really did have long arms!). From that time on, it was home to the Russian Tsars until Peter the Great moved the capital to St. Petersburg in 1703. The city has survived invasions and sieges from the Mongols, the Tartars, the Poles, Lithuanians and Napoleon but has always persevered. Our Moscow tours will enlighten you on this great history and give you insights into Muscovites and their unique culture. Our Moscow tours show you what the city is like today but also brings to life the past. Moscow never seems to sleep and is bursting with energy. A Moscow tour with Express to Russia is truly the best way of getting to know Russia’s largest and most vibrant city.
Frequently Asked Questions From Our Travelers
What is the best time to visit moscow.
Any time of year is fine depending on what you plan to do. Summertime is pleasantly warm, ideal for exploring the city and its vibrant atmosphere, but Moscow will be much busier and accommodation is more expensive. Winter can be quite cold but beautiful nonetheless, and this is unproblematic if you intend to spend most of your trip in museums and galleries. There are also various festivals and events organised throughout the year. For more information about the best time to visit, read our guide
How many days are enough in Moscow?
If you plan your itinerary strategically and aren’t averse to a packed schedule, you can cover Moscow’s main sights over a long weekend. Most popular attractions are in the city centre, and the Moscow Metro allows you to cover much ground in a small amount of time. Ensure that your accommodation is fairly central and book tickets in advance, so that you can make the most of your days. For an informative and well-organised day out, check out our Moscow day tours with options to suit all interests.
Do they speak English in Moscow?
As Russia’s capital city, tourists are well accommodated in Moscow. There should be English-speaking staff in restaurants, bars, hotels, shops and attractions in tourist hotspots, and there are also English-speaking tourist police. Transport services have English translations on their maps and English announcements via intercom; alternatively, order taxis from the Yandex Taxi app (Russian Uber), though it’s unlikely that your taxi driver will speak English. If you get stuck and cannot communicate, it’s fine to use Google Translate.
Is it safe to travel to Moscow?
It is no less safe to travel to Moscow than to any European city if you exercise common sense and look after your belongings. As with every city some regions can be more unsavoury than others, but no tourist attractions are located there. The traffic in Moscow is notorious, so exercise caution when crossing roads. Do not take unlicensed taxis; book in advance or take public transport, which is widespread and perfectly safe. If you encounter any problems, look for the special tourist police who can help you. What Concerts, Tours, & Music Festivals Were Announced This Week? [Updates]
We here at Live For Live Music know how difficult it is to stay up to date on the latest announcements in the live music industry. Between tours, festivals, one-off concerts, residencies, and so much more, keeping track of your favorite artists is a full-time job (a full-time job we’re lucky enough to have).
That’s why we have introduced the Live For Live Music Concert Announcement Tracker. Below is a running list of recent live music announcements in one convenient, updated article.
This is not meant to be an exhaustive list of every concert announced. Instead, we hope to provide a broad overview of the week’s developments in live music—and, hopefully, a helpful resource for you while you put together your personal concert calendar for the year. It’s looking like a busy one.
See you on tour…

Sunday Fun Day
In Detroit, Sundays extend — not represent the end of — the weekend
We’ve got you covered on all the ways to wind up — not wind down — your Sundays in metro Detroit.
1. CULTURALLY SPEAKING
Get Enlightened
Detroit’s Cultural Center, an easy 15-minute QLine ride from Campus Martius Park, puts you in an area where you can easily walk to and enjoy the Detroit Historical Museum , Detroit Institute of Arts , Michigan Science Center , Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History and the Detroit Public Library — all in one day, if you so choose.
2. OUTDOORS & MORE
City as a Canvas
For a grittier but no less fabulous introduction to art in Detroit, take a Sunday stroll or bike ride, and view some of the city’s finest murals, many breathing new life into old brick buildings and concrete structures. Thanks to outdoor sculpture sanctuaries like Lincoln Street Art Park and annual events such as Murals in the Market , which began five years ago, Detroit is a canvas for international and local artists. More than 125 murals, for example, now adorn spaces in the city because of Murals in the Market. Most can be found around historic Eastern Market.
Throughout the late fall and winter months, Campus Martius Park is lit with festive lights and activities, beginning the evening of Nov. 22, the night of the Detroit Tree Lighting Ceremony. An open plaza in the heart of downtown, Campus Martius Park is a popular gathering place for ice skating or simply taking in the attractive views. The Rink opens for skating the evening of the holiday tree lighting and remains open through early March. Hours vary through the week, but on Sundays it’s typically open by noon and closes around midnight. Also around the same time as the tree lighting, nearby Cadillac Square and Capitol Park open pop-up markets that run through early January. After that, the area surrounding Campus Martius Park transforms into a wonderland of family activity for Winter Blast, held on select weekends typically in mid-January and February.
3. FUN AND GAMES
Any Given Sunday
In the fall, when there’s a Detroit Lions home game, Eastern Market trades in its farmers market persona and transforms into tailgate central. “It’s a huge party,” said Lonni Thomas, market manager. “We easily get 5,000 to 6,000 people per game.” And they arrive with grills, speakers and movie-size screen monitors. “I’ve even seen people bring in a mobile Jacuzzi,” added Thomas.
Although space can be found on nearby streets, it’s best to rent parking spots from Eastern Market Corp. The cost is $45 per space, offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Make reservations at easternmarket.org, or on game day stop by the office at 2934 Russell St., which opens at 7 a.m., to check availability. Shuttles run every 15 minutes from the market beginning 90 minutes before games start and an hour after games end. $5 per person.
The Detroit Lions also offer a free pedestrian-friendly tailgate experience in front of Ford Field on game days. Brush Street, between John R and Montcalm, becomes one big block party called Pride Plaza. Open to all — whether you have a ticket to the game or not — Pride Plaza fun begins a half hour before the gates open and lasts until kickoff.
Beacon Park , the city’s newest park, has entered the football pre- and post-party scene, too, featuring a place to tailgate and a warm, dry area to watch select Lions games and the area’s most popular college football games, such as Michigan State vs. University of Michigan. A variety of non-football activities run year-round at the park as well.
4. EAT, DRINK AND BE MERRY
Bringin’ brunch.
It seems like if you blink, there’s a new restaurant in town, adding to the diverse landscape of places to eat, drink and party. There’s a number of reputable Detroit-area brunch spots you won’t want to miss on any given Sunday, including Bobcat Bonnie’s , which encourages patrons to design their own mimosas and bloody marys. Laid-back yet lively, Honest John’s in the Cass Corridor keeps brunch friendly on the budget and serves a highly praised chicken and waffles. With too many “best of brunch” wins to count, Dime Store is obviously a solid choice, too. Order the brioche french toast or veggie hash. For those living a vegetarian/vegan lifestyle, Brooklyn Street Local is your go-to brunch spot. From 9 a.m.-3 p.m. every weekend, the menu features tasty vegan options from banana walnut pancakes to poutine.
At The Apparatus Room inside the Detroit Foundation Hotel, you’ll find live jazz once a month during Sunday brunch. Pair any one of its plated offerings with the Foundation Bloody, which uses all Detroit-made ingredients: Detroit Foundation gin (made in collaboration with Detroit City Distillery), Norden aquavit and McClure’s bloody mix.
Or enter from the back at La Dolce Vita for plated Sunday brunch from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Live piano music accompanies the menu that includes salmon hash and Italian-style french toast.
It’d be hard to argue that there’s a more romantic place to dine in metro Detroit than The Whitney . This charming restaurant offers a three-course plated brunch from 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m. and a four-course high tea at 2 p.m. every Sunday. Additionally, every first and fourth Sunday, guests can participate in tours and a dining experience from 5:30-9:30 p.m. that includes a walk-through of the mansion, a five-course meal and paranormal tour that the restaurant’s Director of Operations David Duey describes as “an authentic ghost hunting.”
After-Brunch Merriment
If you’re looking to pass away your Sunday with just a good drink and good company, go to Candy Bar , which Architectural Digest named the “most beautifully designed bar” in Michigan. Inside the Siren Hotel, it’s open Sundays, 5 p.m.-1 a.m. Or you can head to Bert’s Market Place in Eastern Market. Known for its barbecue and music, the entertainment complex features a theater, jazz room and a Motown room. Sunday night is open-mic night.
In the Wayne State University neighborhood, you’ll find the nothing-fancy-but-fun Bronx Bar on Second Avenue, which attracts the college crowd and locals who enjoy a good beer, burger and game of pool. And we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention Baker’s Keyboard Lounge for a Sunday stop. Many of America’s jazz greats have played Baker’s, which prides itself on being called the world’s oldest jazz club.
5. WORTH YOUR WORSHIP
Metro Detroit is home to some of the nation’s most architecturally arresting and historic churches, temples and synagogues. Parishioners not only welcome you to join in Sunday worship, but several offer public tours of their stunning spaces.
Mariner’s Church , once a stop on the Underground Railroad, holds Sunday mass at 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Each year, this independent Anglican church, established to serve mariners, also holds a Blessing of the Fleet (typically on a Sunday in March) for those going to sea, and a Great Lakes Memorial service (Nov. 10) for those who have lost their lives at sea. The memorial coincides with the sinking of the S.S. Edmund Fitzgerald, the ship’s story so eloquently sung by Gordon Lightfoot in the song The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.
Ste. Anne de Detroit Church is a neo-Gothic Revival cathedral-style church built in 1886. The parish’s original structure opened in 1701, making it Detroit’s oldest church and America’s second-oldest continuously running Catholic church. Tours are offered on weekdays only, but participants at Sunday mass can certainly appreciate the spectacular sanctuary featuring more than 100 panels of stained glass. Masses are held at 8:30 a.m., 10 a.m. and noon on Sundays.
Old St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Detroit’s Greektown neighborhood is the first German Catholic church and the third-oldest Catholic church in the city. On Sundays, self-guided tours with pamphlets are offered after the three scheduled masses at 8:30 a.m., 10 a.m. and noon.
Temple Beth El , now located in Bloomfield Hills, became Michigan’s first Jewish congregation in 1850. The massive and magnificent modern structure was designed by famed architect Minoru Yamasaki (World Trade Center, Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, among others). Services are held on Friday evenings and Saturday mornings. Tours can be scheduled online.
Second Baptist Church in Greektown once served as a station on the Underground Railroad. In addition to tours after Sunday services that must be arranged prior to visiting, the church offers tours related to its significance for escaped slaves.

Wout van Aert sustains ‘several fractures’ and will miss Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix
Belgium ’s Wout van Aert has been ruled out of this Sunday’s Tour of Flanders and next Sunday’s Paris-Roubaix after breaking his collarbone and “several ribs” in a huge crash at Dwars door Vlaanderen on Wednesday.
Van Aert, one of the biggest stars in professional cycling, went down in a mass pile-up just before the Kanarieberg, with around 60km of the race remaining.
Other big names such as Jasper Stuyven (Lidl-Trek) and Biniam Girmay (Intermarché-Wanty) also went down after what appeared to be a gust of wind which triggered chaos.
Television replays showed Van Aert, 29, sitting on the roadside in agony, his jersey ripped to shreds and nasty road rash down his back. He was taken to hospital in an ambulance with his Dutch team Visma-Lease a Bike later confirming his injuries in a statement.
“Unfortunately, Wout van Aert suffered several fractures in the crash at Dwars door Vlaanderen today,” the statement read. “A broken collarbone and several broken ribs were diagnosed in hospital. It is unclear how long his recovery will take.
“Van Aert will definitely miss the Tour of Flanders, Paris-Roubaix and the Amstel Gold Race.”
😱 A huge crash in the leading group has taken down a number of favourites, including Wout van Aert, Mads Pedersen and Biniam Girmay, at Dwars door Vlaanderen 💥🤕 Sending our best wishes to the riders who were involved in the crash. pic.twitter.com/hlfuZwhBZd — Eurosport (@eurosport) March 27, 2024
Van Aert’s absence is a huge blow for the upcoming races, the culmination of the cobbled classics season, which is traditionally held each spring in Belgium and France. Van Aert’s battle with his eternal Dutch rival Mathieu van der Poel (Alpecin-Deceuninck) was expected to be the highlight of the races.
Van Aert had tailored his season towards these races and according to Visma-Lease a Bike sporting director Grischa Niermann was in “absolute top shape”.
Van der Poel has finished first , second , first , second over the last four years at the Tour of Flanders. Two-time Tour de France winner Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates) won last year’s race but is not riding this year as he prepares to double up at the Giro d’Italia and the Tour de France this summer.
In Van Aert’s absence, the hope will be that Lidl-Trek’s Mads Pedersen or Van Aert’s team-mate Matteo Jorgenson might challenge Van der Poel.
American Jorgensen went on to win Dwars door Vlaanderen, while British starlet Josh Tarling, 20, secured a gutsy sixth place after managing to bridge solo to the lead group inside the final 60km. Tarling then stayed in contention despite being dropped multiple times. The Ineos Grenadier rider eventually finished 44 seconds back after Jorgensen attacked solo inside the final 10km.

College tour season is about to kick off. Here are 10 tips from college tour guides to have a successful campus visit.
- As spring starts, colleges nationwide will welcome parents and students to tour their campuses.
- College tour guides want people to arrive on time, ask the right questions, and have fun.
- They also recommend students take the tours on their own, without their parents.
Spring break is right around the corner, and for many high-school students and their parents, that means many will be hitting the road to tour colleges around the country.
To make the most of your visit, Business Insider spoke with college students and tour guides. They know the campuses like the backs of their hands, and they know how to walk backward.
Here are the dos and don'ts of college tours from student guides .
1. Get there with no time to spare, but don't be late.
You won't get points for arriving early, so try to arrive on time. But if you do happen to arrive late , there's no need to worry.
"If something comes up and you are late, ask your guide what you missed once the tour finishes," Skyler Kawecki-Muonio, a senior at Sarah Lawrence College in New York, told BI. "They will happily fill you in."
2. Dress to impress, but don't sacrifice comfort.
It's important to look nice, but you don't have to don a jacket and tie. Tour-goers should put their best foot forward with a sturdy pair of walking shoes , and don't forget to dress for the weather.
"At Fairleigh Dickinson, tours go out rain or shine, so make sure to wear clothes that will keep you warm," Emily Bone, a junior at Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey, said .
3. Don't forget to sign in, but skip the résumé .
Most schools have a check-in desk where you'll receive a campus map and other literature. But don't bother furnishing schools with your portfolio.
"Students can leave their résumés at home," Henry Millar, a senior at the College of William & Mary in Virginia, said. "Tour guides generally do not have any sway in the admissions process whatsoever, so feel free to save the paper."
4. Pay attention on the tour, but do it solo if possible.
Some schools offer to let parents and kids take separate tours, which has advantages.
"Get excited about your child's potential future in college, but give them some space to see what they think of that school on their own," Nathan Weisbrod, a junior at Wesleyan University in Connecticut, told BI.
Related stories
Students can comfortably ask questions without a parent present and compare notes afterward .
5. Ask all your questions, but avoid personal interrogations.
This is the time to inquire about any aspect of campus life , and don't feel shy about speaking up.
"Tour guides love getting questions because it allows us to cater the tour, especially in small groups, toward the needs and interests of the families on that specific tour," Halle Spataro, a senior at Bucknell University, said.
But some topics are off-limits, so don't ask your tour guide about their SAT scores , ACT scores , or what they wrote about in their essay .
6. Speak up, but let the student take the lead.
Parents may be tempted to raise their hands again and again, but this tour is about the student, so there should be space to let them shine.
"Try to take the back seat — or the passenger seat — but refrain from driving all of your child's interactions," Julian Jacklin, a junior at Reed College in Oregon, said. "Students who feel they can own that experience usually ask the most questions and engage with the tour more."
7. Say thanks, but don't leave with questions unanswered.
Maybe your guide didn't hear you, or your kid was reluctant to speak up. You can still get the information you want before leaving.
"There's a lot of information students are getting that day and a lot of excitement with being in a new place, which can make people forget to ask certain questions," Lorenzo Mars, a junior at Pepperdine University in California, said.
Therefore, get your tour guide's email address so that you can follow up .
8. You may know exactly what school is right but keep an open mind.
Don't be surprised if a city-living kid is suddenly intrigued by a small-town setting.
"The college search and college experience are all about getting to know yourself better and growing, so on a tour, students have to trust themselves and their judgment of the 'world' they've just stepped into," Thomas Elias, a senior at the University of Scranton in Pennsylvania, said .
9. Take in as much as possible, but remember to have fun.
Sure, preparing for the next four years can be scary and stressful. But it's also an exciting milestone, so enjoy the ride.
"These tours serve as great opportunities to learn more about colleges — along with their cities, culture, and people," Connor Gee, a sophomore at the University of Mississippi, said. "Have fun with it!"
10. Weigh the pros and cons of the school, but don't stop there.
Your tour may be over, but you can still learn other ways to immerse yourself in college life .
"See if the school offers additional experiences, like eating in the cafeteria or attending a class," Emily Balda, a senior at Seton Hall University in New Jersey, said. "Consider it 'food for thought.'"
