Rammstein Play Two Songs Live for First Time in 11 Years

At their European tour kickoff in the Czech Republic's capital city of Prague, Rammstein played two songs for the first time since 2013 and another pair for the first time since 2019.

Last year, the industrial legends dusted off the  Sehnsucht  track "Bestrafe Mich" for the first time in over 20 years and the band has again dug deeper into their back catalog.

Prior to the official tour launch, Rammstein performed a special fan-club exclusive show on May 9, which served as a rehearsal. The same exact set followed two nights later with "Asche zu Asche" (off the 1995 debut,  Herzeleid ) and "Wiener Blut" (from 2009's  Liebe ist für alle da ) both being played for the first time in 11 years.

The  Reise, Reise cut "Keine Lust" and the unreleased song "Ramm 4" hadn't made a live appearance in five years.

I went to see Rammstein live during their 2005 tour, in Nîmes. The open-air Roman amphitheater was perfect for a gig on a warm summer night in southern France, and was particularly suitable for Rammstein.

Once the sun was completely set, Rammstein came on stage to their opening song, “Reise, reise”, introducing themselves one by one, rising to the stage. After a couple of songs spent warming up, the pyrotechnics kicked in to “Feuer Frei”, with flamethrowers attached to their faces, and we were in for a hell of a show. “Fire at will” (the name of the song) was an appropriate statement as they filled the whole Arena with fire and smoke, making the warm summer night feel like a very cold breeze when the flames finally stopped.

Rammstein are world-famous for their live performances, including the heavy use of both lights and fire during their shows. Till Lindemann, the lead singer, is a certified pyrotechnician, and plays with his skill well during the show. He dresses as a cook in order to roast “Flake”, the band’s pianist, in a giant pot during “Mein teil” using a flamethrower. In another instance, he just showers in sparkles coming from fireworks all over the stage. Their use of fire-spitting devices is a constant during the show, and makes for incredible visual effects across the whole performance.

A dozen or so of songs later, once the warmth of fire and smoke start to take its toll, it is time for a walkabout for “Ollie”, the bassist, as he boards an inflatable boat and goes on a raft, on top of the crowd. After a few minutes of going up and down the whole venue, it’s time to get back on the stage, and to finish delighting the crowd with some classic songs, and an amazing encore.

Amazing show!!! If you have never seen Rammstein then it is a must see before you die, type of band. They performed the same set list as the other Festival shows but even thought this is the 3rd time I've seen this set list, I would still pay and go again. I will be going tonight to sit on the grass and watch from outside of the Waldbühne. You can expect to see lots of fireworks, fire and an amazing light show to go with the rest of the visual and sound experience.

The Waldbühne as a venue has extraordinary sound, it is an amphitheater surrounded by trees and the old Olympic stadium. See anyone there for a great night out!

Saw them with my granddaughter at Olympiastadion, Berlin on 15th July 2023. I've been to many live shows and gigs over the years, but Rammstein raised the bar above all else. Fantastic visuals, pyros, lighting and of course sound. This band give you EVERYTHING, this is music, entertainment, theatre. I was literally blown away, so much so, we saw them again at their final gig of 2023 at King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels on 5th August 2023. Roll on Dublin June 2024, something to REALLY look forward to. Mike, Hull, UK.

I went to Rammstein in Tinley Park, IL on June 27th... They were my very first concert and they were AMAZING!! Their opening act, 3TEETH, SUCKED like bad, but who would be able to compare to these amazing German Rock Gods? The Pyrotechnics and show was out of this world! Till did an amazing job not just singing but performing, he fully puts himself into what he does! I will definitely be on the lookout for future Rammstein concerts here in America. Till is unbelievable and the whole band kicked ASS!!

Amazing show ! Third time seeing Rammstein and this one was definitely the best one ! Worth waiting 6 hours with the extreme heat in Nimes ;)

The acoustic was awesome, great atmosphere, great setlist (Ramm 4, Reise Reise, Halleluja, Zerstoren, Keine Lust, Links 2 3 4, Feuer Frei, Mein Herz Brennt, Feuer Frei, Ich Tu Dir Weh, Ich Will, Amerika, Sonne, Engel, Stripped, Du Hast, DU Riechst So Gut, fruhling in Paris... I probably forgot one or two ahah)

When you try to see a group for years, the worry is that when you do get to go to their concert it will turn out to be a bit of an anti climax.

Not Rammstien. They were everything I expected and more. Brilliant, fantastic, superb.

As a visual show it was all the usual pyrotechnics and smoke and bang bangs.?

Instrumentally everything we all love about them with heavy riffs/shredding.

I loved this concert and will go and see them again

The shaw was incredible.

We had to come at 2 pm to be closer to the stage, and there already was a huge queue to the entrance.

The hardest part was to stand 4 hours in the crowd in front of the stage without any water, but I'd do it again of course.

There were couple of drunk guys in the crowd, who were scary to be close to, but thanks to the security they were removed in the beginning.

An Epic show!

Rammstein knows how to lighten up a room.

Great setlist, great visual effects.

I didn’t like the venue though. I found the sound really crappy.

It seems that there was a technical glitch during the song “Rammstein”. And I must confess that after “Sonne” the venue was filled with smoke and the rest of the show was quite hidden when there was too much light.

Show was absolutly phenomenal! Music and everything!!!

to be honest, this is best show and concert i've ever been..

in one point i tought the stage gonna exlode :)

Only thing that didnt match my expetetations was not the cameramen job, but the person who choosed what and when show to screens.. some missed actions and funny things missed.. its just 1 thing, so it's not a big deal.

I saw them in Rotterdam on 25 july. I don't know whose idea it was to get a classical piano duo as their opening act, but it was a complete miss. Great musicians, totally incompatible with the Rammstein vibe. But then the real show started and it blew me away! Music, performance, set pieces and pyrotechnics were completely in sync from beginning to end. Awesome concert.

Rammstein Announce First-Ever North American Stadium Tour

By Suzy Exposito

Suzy Exposito

Renowned for their forward-thinking sounds and pyromanic spectacles, German metal titans Rammstein will finally bring their explosive stadium act to North America this summer.

The highly anticipated tour will kick off August 20th at Parc Jean-Drapeau in Montreal, span across eight U.S. stadiums, then close out in Mexico City’s Foro de Sol on September 27th. The tour will be produced by AEG Presents.

The group made headlines in 2019 after guitarists Paul Landers and Richard Kruspe shared an onstage kiss while performing in Moscow’s Luzhniki Stadium. The kiss was an act of defiance against Russia’s anti-LGBTQ law, or “gay propaganda” law, which forbids any public expression of homosexuality or gender non-conformity.

Rammstein’s untitled seventh album debuted at Number Nine on the Billboard 200 chart — the band’s first Top 10 position in the U.S. since their inception in 1994. Untitled also ranked Number Eight on Rolling Stone ‘s “ Best Metal Albums of 2019 ” list.

Tickets for the tour will go on sale Friday, January 24th at 10 a.m. local time. For more information, visit Rammstein.com .

Some might tell you Rammstein are just White Zombie for people who think they’re cultured. The Pet Shop Boys born in a Berlin bondage dungeon. Cirque du Soleil, but kinkier.

That’s just not the case, though. Since their humble beginnings from a recently reunified Germany in 1994, singing about everything from cannibals to paedophiles, frequently (and falsely) accused of far-right sympathies, they’ve constantly defied expectations and become the hottest ticket in heavy music.

At its core, this is industrial metal. But inside the machine, there’s a beating heart. Richard Z. Kruspe and Paul Landers take on the riffs, doing an awful lot with scant chords; Oliver Riedel and Christoph Schneider comprise the rhythm section, delivering finger-picked basslines and crunching 4/4 drumbeats respectively; and Christian ‘Flake’ Lorenz holds the fort on keyboards, more often than not while evading some sort of elaborate booby trap designed to humiliate him on-stage.

That’s all tied down by the enigmatic Till Lindemann : a lyrical magpie who takes influence from everything between leftist political anthems and Michael Gambon movies, his silken baritone instantly recognisable and often misunderstood, thanks to a penchant for the double entendre. A man so idiosyncratic, his signature stage move of bashing his thighs in time with the music has been dubbed ‘The Till Hammer’ by fans.

There’s more than meets the eye with Rammstein – their stage show is musical satire on a stadium level, lovelorn lyrics surfing atop a sea of flamethrowers, penis cannons, exploding babies, treadmills, Segways, fire-spewing exoskeletons, milk-squirting dildos and whatever else they feel like using to rile up good-natured folk.

But all that means nothing without the songs. Thankfully, they’ve seven albums’ worth of classics to back that up. The lovely readers of Louder seem to think so too, as thousands upon thousands of you voted in our poll to determine the best Rammstein song of all time.

So strap yourself in, or on, and dive into the top 50 greatest Rammstein songs ever. Best wear protection.

Metal Hammer line break

50. Das Modell (Das Modell single, 1997)

Of course they do a Kraftwerk cover. Paying homage to the electropop pioneers with a Rammsteined-up version of The Model , you’re treated with that taut, staccato guitar crunch alongside Christoph’s four-to-the-floor thumpery and Flake’s cutesy, hyper-rave rendition of the iconic keyboard pattern – oh, and there’s some slide guitar thrown in for good measure. As a cover, it’s a wee bit predictable, but imperiously executed nonetheless.

49. Rein Raus (Mutter, 2001)

Musically, this is one of the simpler songs from Rammstein’s third record, Mutter . But that’s in no way a bad thing. If anything, its punishing, Ministry -esque riff is a potent reminder of Rammstein’s stupidly high quality threshold, even when doing a ‘safe’ track. In the words of the late, great and usually irate music journalist Steven Wells: “It’s all like shouting […] URK! ARK! UMLAUT RAUS! […] and killer riffs and fucking blowing shit the fuck up.” Who can argue with that?

48. Kokain (Das Modell single, 1997)

Playing B-side to Das Modell ’s single, Kokain hides sing-along chants betwixt metronomic guitar chuggery and louche, understated club beats. Till’s never had the most versatile range, yet his vocal tic prior to the three minute mark serves as one of the greatest little nuances he’s ever smashed into a recording device.

47. Was Ich Liebe (Rammstein, 2019)

The mid-point of Rammstein’s untitled, seventh album seemed a jarring choice to open their first-ever stadium tour. It’s a lumbering, brooding piece that swells to Till’s monumental proclamation of ‘Was ich liebe!’ (‘What I love’), with heart-on-sleeve lyrics pilfered from his poetry collection, In Stillen Nächten. On paper, that just doesn’t work. It’s too subdued. Too slight. In practice, Was Ich Liebe was absolutely the right way to introduce the members on stage one-by-one, all smoke, shiny gold faces and, in Till’s case, some seriously sharp snakeskin threads.

46. Wo Bist Du (Rosenrot, 2005)

Rammstein’s fifth album, Rosenrot , was originally floated as Reise, Reise Vol. 2 , due to the fact half its material comes from the sessions for Reise, Reise : their record from the year prior. Wo Bist Du is one such song, and while its mournful, E-flat minor keys do a cracking job at accentuating those subtle choral parts, you can see why it was left off Reise, Reise – it lives a much fuller life amidst Rosenrot ’s solemn lot.

45. Halleluja (Links 2-3-4 single, 2001)

Cut from the same cloth as Mutter’ s A-sides, Halleluja begins as a freakish sibling to Rein Raus before slapping you with that chorus, during which a harrowing, child-like warble etches the name of the song. It’s like those highs in Sonne , but infinitely creepier. An overblown organ rears its head and, coupled with thematic tones of corruption within the Catholic Church, it’s no wonder this song ended up on the Resident Evil soundtrack.

44. Zwitter (Mutter, 2001)

Departing from Till’s usual bassy choruses, Zwitter ’s main sing-along glistens against your ear-holes in a high-pitched, dare-we-say nice fashion. If taken literally, the song’s about a hermaphrodite. If you delve further into the wordplay, though, Zwitter appears to be a retelling of the Greek myth of Hermaphroditus: the son of Aphrodite and Hermes, who fell in love with the naiad Salmacis. They wanted to be together so much, the gods united their physical forms in one androgynous lump. Quite sweet, coming from a band famous for violent, simulated on-stage sodomy.

43. Stirb Nicht Vor Mir (Don’t Die Before I Do) (Rosenrot, 2005)

Another Rosenrot ballad, and one that’s often got an unfair shake of the stick due to Texas singer Sharleen Spiteri’s impassioned guest vocals, sung in English against Till’s sombre German. Flake even went on record saying “The English version is not good… it’s just embarrassing” – while that’s a bit harsh, Stirb Nicht Vor Mir is certainly an oddity in the Rammstein can(n)on. And that’s what makes it great.

42. Dalai Lama (Reise, Reise, 2004)

The third track from Rammstein’s fourth album is not about the Dalai Lama – it’s about aeroplanes. It’s also one of Reise, Reise ’s more sonically unsettling moments, Till’s whisper jumping to a roar through its five-minute run-time. While Flake’s delicate keys certainly add to the murkiness, Dalia Lama is a superb showing from Paul and Richard, their painfully simple riffs heavier than most death metal bands you’d care to mention.

41. Stripped (For The Masses, 1998)

Depeche Mode and pinched harmonics. Shouldn’t really work, should it? Nobody told Rammstein, and we’re rather chuffed they didn’t. Originally released on the For The Masses Depeche Mode tribute album, Stripped marked Till’s first full foray into English, shortening the refrain due to ‘Let me see you stripped down to the bone’ being a mouthful. While it’s a cover the original artist actually gave a thumbs-up to, not everyone was best pleased. Probably because Rammstein used clips from Leni Riefenstahl’s 1938 propaganda film, Olympia , in the accompanying music video.

RAMMSTEIN Launches Spring/Summer 2024 European Stadium Tour In Prague

German industrial metallers RAMMSTEIN launched their spring/summer 2024 European stadium tour with a two-night stand on May 11-12 at Letiště Praha Letňany in Prague, Czech Republic. Fan-filmed video of the second concert can be seen below (courtesy of the jederlacht   YouTube channel).

RAMMSTEIN 's 2024 European stadium tour will wrap up with two performances at Veltins-Arena in Germany, Gelsenkirchen on July 26 and July 27.

RAMMSTEIN released a special "anniversary edition" of its second album, "Sehnsucht" , in June 2023. The iconic 1997 LP was made available for the first time in remastered HD sound. In addition to the singles "Du Hast" and "Engel" , the album exclusively includes a new mix version of the track "Spiel Mit Mir" . The elaborately reworked packaging was designed by the original artwork designer Dirk Rudolph . The CD comes in a Blu-ray-sized eight-panel digipak with a 40-page booklet and an embossed silver foil slipcase. The 40-page booklet features numerous unpublished and re-edited portrait photographs by artist Gottfried Helnwein .

RAMMSTEIN 's latest album, "Zeit" , arrived in April 2022.

Till Lindemann (vocals), Paul Landers (guitar), Richard Z. Kruspe (guitar), Flake (keyboards), Oliver Riedel (bass) and Christoph Schneider (drums) spent two years working on the eleven songs on the LP. They were once again assisted by Berlin producer Olsen Involtini . "Zeit" was recorded at La Fabrique Studios in St. Rémy de Provence, France.

Bryan Adams managed to get a special scoop for the cover of the new album. The Canadian musician and photographer took the shot of RAMMSTEIN on the steps of the Trudelturm in Berlin Adlershof, an imposing monument to aerial research in the city's Aerodynamic Park.

Over the course of a career spanning 30 years, RAMMSTEIN has sold more than 20 million albums around the world and played countless spectacular, groundbreaking tours. When the band's sold-out stadium tour had to be postponed due to the pandemic, RAMMSTEIN used the time to work on their new album.

One of the most revered metal groups of all time, RAMMSTEIN is renowned for its electrifying live shows often involving spectacular pyrotechnics.

In 2022, RAMMSTEIN and European promoter MCT Agentur obtained an injunction against secondary ticketing platform Viagogo , banning the resale site from reselling tickets for the band's 2023 European stadium tour.

Last August, Berlin public prosecutor's office dropped its investigation into accusations of sexual offenses by Lindemann , citing a lack of evidence. Lindemann always denied the allegations, with his lawyers calling them "without exception untrue".

Rammstein in Dresden: Till Lindemann bringt umstrittene Show-Einlage zurück

June 30, 2017 - Italia - The singer Till Lindemann in concert with the Rammstein at the heavy metal music festival Gods Of Metal staged at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza. Monza, Italy. 2nd June 2016 It ...

Rammstein in Dresden: Band bringt umstrittene Bühnen-Einlage zurück

Jennifer Ullrich

Penis-Kanone zurück bei Rammstein-Shows

The Rolling Stones Rehearsed 60 to 70 Songs for ‘Hackney Diamonds' Tour

Since 1982, when the Rolling Stones launched a European leg of their Tattoo You tour, lighting designer Patrick Woodroffe has gotten both a front-row seat and a backstage look at how Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood, and the rest of the band work on the road.

"The real privilege is to see them in rehearsal," he tells Rolling Stone on an early May Zoom from Arizona, a day before a Stones gig. "It's thrilling still, even after all this time. They always get together for at least three or four weeks to rehearse for a leg of the tour. No costumes, no stage set, no smoke and mirrors, no audience of course. They arrive separately in their own cars … They say hi and pick up their instruments, and somehow, they just start to play."

And they play and play and play, rehearsing decades-old concert staples like "Satisfaction" and "Gimme Shelter" as well as running through songs they can swap in and out of set lists on the fly. For the group's Hackney Diamonds Tour , which kicked off in Houston in April, the band spent a month practicing 60 to 70 songs in Los Angeles.

"It's crazy, isn't it?" says Woodroffe, who is creative director and lighting designer at Woodroffe Bassett Design. "They've always had really high standards, particularly about rehearsing, even during some of the more chaotic periods of their career. I see them in rehearsal as a small group of players just wanting to make their music."

Woodroffe's perspective on the Stones, of course, is starkly different to how the rest of the world sees the group. For the Hackney Diamonds run, concertgoers will watch Jagger on the production's nearly 46-foot-tall digital screens, as he and his bandmates traverse around a stage that's approximately 180 feet wide by 65 feet deep. In total, there are close to 2,300 square feet of high-resolution LED screens.

The stage itself, designed by Stufish Entertainment Architects, weighs 485,072 pounds - about the same weight as 71 of those angular, Tron -like Tesla Cybertrucks , to pick one comparison. The tour requires 200 touring personnel, 14 of whom are on the video crew, including six camera operators who make the Stones look literally larger than life.

The production concept for Hackney Diamonds was to create a "virtual stage" that can adapt as the show goes on. Where the look of the band's late-Eighties Steel Wheels tour was meant to evoke a dystopia and their mid-Nineties Voodoo Lounge tour reflected internet culture for the entirety of the concert, Hackney Diamonds changes from song to song, almost like sliding TikToks. Every song has its own custom-made look, from the visuals to the lighting.

"We've freshened up everything," Ray Winkler, CEO and design director at Stufish Entertainment Architects, says. "The stage is embellished by all of the digital media around them, and that, by default, makes it very contemporary. It's very clean-edged. It's not about the physical presence of a stage set but the continuing, evolving, and developing imagery that you see on the screens."

"In one minute, it's a very simple, geometrical building; nature takes over the next; and then it's sort of a Jasper Johns American flag ," Woodroffe says. "We can change the way the stage looks in a virtual way."  Still, Woodroffe says he worked with the band to connect everything into a cohesive statement.

During its month of rehearsals, the band ran through about half of the 12 tracks on Hackney Diamonds ; they've played four of them at concerts so far. By preparing for more, the crew could be ready for the band to surprise them at a moment's notice and keep the production running seamlessly.

The songs on this tour are arranged into distinct acts: openers, Richards' songs, the "home run" (as Woodroffe calls main-set closers), and then the encore. "The thing is quite well structured to the point that you can change out a song – if it has the same sort of feeling, the same sort of tempo – and not lose the flow or the way that the set works," Woodroffe says.

"It's a team effort," Winkler says. "It's a massive endeavor to get a project like this from an idea on paper into reality. There's a lot of unsung heroes that contribute toward the success of it."

Traditionally, Woodroffe worked closely on the look and feel of a tour starting about half a year before the first gig with Jagger and drummer Charlie Watts , who died in 2021, as well as Stufish founder Mark Fisher, who died in 2013. This time, after starting with Jagger and Winkler in the fall, Woodroffe ran the concept by Richards and Wood, who gave input. From there, they designed the stage sets, worked with costume designers, and commissioned videos from a studio called Treatment to play along with the songs. Eventually, they teamed up for rehearsals and got it all working together.

For Hackney Diamonds , the look of the tour began with the album launch last September in London, and they continued test-driving some of the looks at the band's New York City pop-up concert in October. There was still no firm commitment for tour dates at that point, but Woodroffe and the creative team figured it was coming, so they started formulating what a stadium tour could look like. Around that time, they started working with Winkler and Stufish and the company that makes the films for them. From there, it was just a few months of production. The tour announcement came in November, giving them time to refine the look of it.

"I never want it to look too slick," Woodroffe says. "This band is really authentic. Audiences will always be able to spot whether a performance is the real thing or not. It may be the soundtrack for the lives of the people in the audience, but it's also the soundtrack of the Stones' lives. They gift us their music, and that's the real embrace. That's the real thing."

Winkler strikes a similar note. "At the end of the day, you want everything we do to come together," he says. "You want that to be a catalyst to enhance the performance of the Stones in front of a very large crowd."

Woodroffe programmed the lighting for the tour in Chicago and met up with the band in Houston for five days of rehearsals. "It was very exciting seeing it all up in Houston for the first time and feeling that we kind of got it right," Woodroffe says. "When you get over that first hurdle that it's actually going to work, then the fun part is finessing it and marrying it with the music and the visuals to make something special." After overseeing the kickoff show, Woodroffe traveled with the band for their special appearance at Jazz Fest in New Orleans and made sure everything was working well again at the Glendale, Arizona, gig before flying home to England.

If and when the band is ready to design another tour after this one, Woodroffe says he's ready, because he never knows when the call is going to come. "You will never know when the Stones are going to do their last performance," he says. "None of us will. And not because there's any mystique about it, it's just the way they work. They finish a tour and go off on holiday and the tour promoters will offer them some new dates, they'll go, ‘Yes,' and off we'll go."

Taylor Swift debuts ‘Tortured Poets’ songs live as Eras Tour resumes

Swift made some significant changes to the 3-hour-and-15-minute set when she kicked off the European leg of her record-shattering tour Thursday after a two-month break.

songs rammstein tour

Taylor Swift’s record-shattering Eras Tour has essentially been a well-oiled, steady machine since it launched in March 2023 — she switched up a few songs on occasion, but mostly stuck to the same set list during the 3-hour-and-15-minute spectacle. And Swift’s loyal fan base has spent hours studying footage from around the world, with millions tuning in on fan-hosted live-streams to memorize every detail.

But on Thursday, Swift made some significant changes to the show for the first time as the tour kicked off its European leg at Paris La Défense Arena in Nanterre, France, for the first of four sold-out concerts. As many predicted, she debuted live performances of her songs from her 11th studio record, “The Tortured Poets Department,” a double album that contains 31 tracks and sold the equivalent of 2.61 million albums in its first week (combining physical sales and streams) when it dropped in mid-April .

🚨| Taylor Swift performing "Who's Afraid Of Little Old Me?" on 'The Eras Tour'! #ParisTSTheErasTour pic.twitter.com/O9FkuejQrN — The Eras Tour (@tswifterastour) May 9, 2024

“You are so present and it means the world to us as performers when you show up to a concert and when you act this way. … It makes us want to show you all kinds of fun surprises,” Swift, 34, told the extremely enthusiastic audience early in the night, calling the Eras Tour “the best experience of my life, honestly.”

The concert was live-streamed by fans on TikTok. One viewed by The Washington Post featured a news ticker running at the bottom of the video with updates about the show: new outfits, new video screen visuals, a new order for some of the songs. Swift, who divides her set list into “eras” from her 18-year career, kicked off the “Tortured Poets” era about two hours into the concert with “But Daddy I Love Him” — a track that many interpret to be a message to her fan base about their, ah, extreme interest in her love life and the men she dates.

The Style section

“I’ll tell you something about my good name, it’s mine alone to disgrace,” Swift sang, running back and forth across the stage throughout. “… God save the most judgmental creeps who say they want what’s best for me, sanctimoniously performing soliloquies I’ll never see.” At the end, she sat down with her dancers and added a verse from “So High School” with lines that include “You know how to ball; I know Aristotle” — thought to be a reference to her boyfriend , the very famous football player Travis Kelce. (Swift did not sit for any interviews about the album and has provided very little detail for the ideas behind the lyrics.)

Even if they were being scolded, the fans loved it. The ecstatic screaming and cheering continued in the audience as Swift continued through “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?,” which appears to detail the downsides of fame, along with breakup anthems “Down Bad” and “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived,” along with her new single with Post Malone, “Fortnight.” Swift added all kinds of new dance routines and set pieces, including one that made it look as if she were levitating across the stage.

And she performed a brief play before “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart,” an upbeat track about how she was able to perform on the Eras Tour even through heartbreak. Two magicians dragged her lifeless body to another part of the stage where they “forced” her to change into another sparkly outfit as she rolled her eyes and reluctantly got ready to dance.

“So you were the first crowd ever to see ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ chapter of the Eras Tour!” Swift said cheerfully during the next set where she played a couple of surprise acoustic songs. “Or as I like to call it, ‘Female Rage: The Musical.’”

Otherwise, many chapters of the show stayed the same. Though some wondered whether Swift would simply extend the concert to four hours, she cut six songs overall and condensed the “Folklore” and “Evermore” eras into one, explaining that she considers them “sister albums” because she recorded them during the same year early in the pandemic.

“I’ve always thought ‘Folklore’ to me represents spring and summer and ‘Evermore’ represents fall and winter. So on the Eras Tour, we have now reunited the sisters and combined them into one chapter,” she said. She wrapped up the concert with “Karma” a little after 11 p.m. Paris time after running through 45 songs, and thanked her dancers and band for learning all the new material.

The European leg of the Eras Tour will run through mid-August, and the tour will resume in the United States and Canada in the fall.
