11 Best Things to Do in Boulder, CO

Updated Feb. 21, 2023

With more than 31,000 acres of parkland – which includes more than 200 miles of hiking and biking trails – Boulder knows how to woo nature lovers. Get your adrenaline pumping on a hike through Eldorado Canyon State Park or Chautauqua Park or brave

  • All Things To Do

The Flatirons The Flatirons free

These jaw-dropping rock walls flanking Green Mountain have become the symbol of the city, with many Boulder businesses sporting their image as a logo. Flatirons One through Five are the most prominent, but there are also several smaller formations –  with more creative names –  to explore. Altogether, these picturesque slopes are the most popular rock climbing areas around (you can even see markings left by some of the first climbers, dating back to the 1940s, on Number Three). But for those of you who aren't quite comfortable entrusting your life to a harness, you can still take in the Flatirons from one of the area's hiking trails  – recent visitors said there's a trail for every age and skill level.  For information about Flatiron trails, visit the City of Boulder website .

Previous visitors say that no trip to Boulder would be complete without spending time admiring the rocks. But if you plan on hiking, travelers recommend coming prepared: The trails can be steep in places, not to mention slippery. And don't forget your camera  – reviewers said you'll want to capture the stunning views.

Chautauqua Park Chautauqua Park free

Perched on the southwest edge of the city, this tiny extension of Boulder Mountain Park offers some of the city's most photo-worthy vistas. Originally established in the late 1800s as a verdant retreat, this National Historic Landmark now hosts a handful of community events like concerts and festivals. Even when there isn't anything marked on the social calendar, Chautauqua is still a place to go for a breath of fresh air: Numerous paths and gardens await hikers, bikers, picnickers and dog walkers, while more adventurous travelers explore the rugged mountains nearby.

Visitors are blown away by the park's landscape and its facilities, which include lodging, dining and auditoriums. However, some reviewers were less satisfied with the crowds and limited parking. Because of the park's accessible location just minutes from downtown Boulder, Chautauqua sees more visitors than some of the city's other hiking spots like Eldorado Canyon State Park and Flagstaff Mountain . If you can, try to get to the park early before your fellow hikers start clogging the trails.

Pearl Street Mall Pearl Street Mall free

Stretching from Eighth to 20th streets in downtown Boulder, this buzzing thoroughfare is a shopaholic's Yellow Brick Road. Here, you'll find familiar brand names like Urban Outfitters and Patagonia sharing sidewalk space with local boutiques, trendy galleries and laid-back cafes. If you're not much of a shopper, come to Pearl Street for the fabulous dining, entertaining street performances and the prime people-watching.

Recent visitors said the shopping options were a bit underwhelming, but they praised the food selection and bustling atmosphere and said a stroll through this district is a must-do for any first-time Boulder visitors. However, travelers were also quick to point out that this is area is heavily populated with panhandlers.

Boulder Breweries Boulder Breweries free

After you've conquered the Flatirons , what better reward than an ice-cold pint of local Boulder ale? Though Denver is often regarded as Colorado's reigning beer city, Boulder can keep up, offering 20 breweries in its 27.8 square miles. To acquaint yourself with the city's suds, embark on the bike-friendly Boulder Beer Trail (which also includes stops at wineries and distilleries). Or, take the advice of visitors and locals and start your tasting tour at Avery Brewing Co. , beloved for its India pale ale, brewery tours and large patio.

For a bit of history, head to the Boulder Beer Company. Back in 1979, America's 43rd brewing license was issued to two University of Colorado professors, giving them the go-ahead to open Colorado's very first microbrewery, Boulder Beer Company. Stop in for a tall glass of Hazed, an unfiltered dry-hopped ale, or a warm-weather favorite, the Pulp Fusion Blood Orange IPA.

Celestial Seasonings Tea Factory Celestial Seasonings Tea Factory free

No wonder everyone in Boulder seems so relaxed: The city is home to North America's largest producer of herbal tea, which packages and sends more than 8 million tea bags every day. Founded in 1969, Celestial Seasonings has since grown to serve more than 1.6 billion cups of tea (including green, red, white and chai varieties) a year to consumers all over the world.

Recent visitors agree that a tour of the Celestial Seasonings Tea Factory is well worth the time, even if you're more of a coffee person. You'll get the chance to see the entire packaging process, not to mention the Celestial Herb Garden and the popular Mint Room, where the company stores giant bags of spearmint and peppermint tea. (Recent travelers delighted in the chance to see how long they can bear the powerful aromas before they need to step out for some fresh air.) Plus, you'll have the opportunity to sample some of the factory's best-sellers. If you're not already sold, keep in mind that the tour (and the tastings) is completely free.

Eldorado Canyon State Park Eldorado Canyon State Park

Cascading canyon walls, lush pine forests, winding trails ... Eldorado Canyon State Park has much to offer in the way of natural beauty. Its 885 acres provide opportunities to rock climb, kayak, horseback ride and bird-watch, not to mention sightsee. Just don't forget your camera –  recent visitors can't help but rave about the views.

If you're looking for a place to hike, travelers say that the $8 vehicle fee is worth the access to Eldorado Canyon's extensive network of trails. The moderately difficult Rattlesnake Gulch Trail is a favorite, winding 3.6 miles (round trip) along the canyon to the ruins of the 20th-century Crags Hotel. Hikers are also afforded striking views of the Continental Divide from this trail.

Boulder Creek Path Boulder Creek Path free

Ask any Boulder resident for a hiking recommendation and they'll probably point you to the Boulder Creek Path. This 5½-mile-long trail –  completely undisturbed by automobile traffic –  traces Boulder Creek from Boulder Canyon eastward through downtown to the Stazio Ballfields on the eastern fringes of town. On any given day, you'll come across walkers, bikers, rollerbladers and even the occasional kayaker. Compared to other hiking trails in the area, Boulder Creek Path is fairly easy, and if you head from east to west, the second half of your walk will be all downhill.

Many hikers who recently followed the Boulder Creek Path described their experience positively: Travelers said they enjoyed the natural surroundings and marveled at all the different ways that Boulderites take advantage of the path, from dogwalking to yoga. However, some visitors note that parts of the trail have become respites for members of the city's homeless community.

Flagstaff Mountain & Summit Nature Center Flagstaff Mountain & Summit Nature Center free

If you're looking for a hike the whole family can enjoy, aim for the top of Flagstaff Mountain. Rising out of Boulder Mountain Park, Flagstaff Mountain sits about 5 miles southwest of the city. If you're a novice trailblazer, you may find this mountain challenging due its altitude of nearly 7,000 feet. But there are numerous paths to choose from that span a variety of difficulty levels, and kids will enjoy what awaits them at the top of the mountain. Sitting on Flagstaff's summit, the nature center offers interactive exhibits, games and activities that teach children about the area's geography and wildlife. Flagstaff's peak also boasts numerous picnic areas and viewpoints. As for the romantics, the family-owned Flagstaff House Restaurant serves locally praised cuisine with beautiful vistas.

Recent visitors raved about the stunning views, adding that this is a must-do when in Boulder.  If you aren't up for a several-mile uphill hike, you can drive to the summit by following Flagstaff Road (accessible May through October), but previous road-trippers warn that tight turns and steep passes can turn a car ride into an adrenaline rush.

University of Colorado Boulder University of Colorado Boulder free

Even if you're not a prospective student, recent travelers recommend you pay a visit to the beautiful University of Colorado Boulder campus, located just minutes from downtown Boulder. When you're not lounging at Norlin Quadrangle (a designated a National Historic District), learn about the university's history at the CU Heritage Center (housed in Old Main – the first building on campus). Or brush up on your astronomy skills at the Fiske Planetarium.

If you're visiting in the fall, head over to Folsom Field to watch the Colorado Buffaloes take on Pac-12 football rivals (just make sure to pick up some Buffs gear at the University Memorial Center before kickoff). And if you're in Boulder during the summer recess, check out the Colorado Shakespeare Festival. The professional theater company has been celebrating Shakespeare since 1958. The festival runs from June to August and draws crowds of more than 20,000 spectators. You can also check out concerts, plays, recitals and more on the stages of CU Presents, the home of performing arts at the university.

Leanin' Tree Museum of Western Art Leanin' Tree Museum of Western Art free

You don't have to be a hiker, a skier or a rock climber to experience Colorado's scenery. For a more laid-back glimpse at the mountainous landscape, head to the Leanin' Tree Museum of Western Art. This museum houses one of the largest privately owned collections of post-1950s Western-themed artwork. Along Leanin' Tree's walls you'll find everything from action-packed canvases portraying cowboy life to serene landscapes depicting the purple mountains majesty.

Recent visitors highly recommend taking a turn about the Leanin' Tree's sculpture garden, even if you aren't one for gallery-gazing. When you're not admiring the artwork or outdoor sculptures, reviewers suggest you take a free tour of the adjacent greeting card factory. Travelers also advised bringing some money as you'll be tempted to purchase some cards after taking a spin through the production process.

National Center for Atmospheric Research National Center for Atmospheric Research free

Most people consider a conversation about the weather to be a desperate attempt at small talk. But at the National Center for Atmospheric Research, sun, rain, wind and snow are always important topics. At this stunning sandstone building atop Table Mesa –  a landmark some might recognize from Woody Allen's film, "Sleeper" –  scientists study weather-related phenomena such as ozone depletion and the greenhouse effect. On a visit to the center, you can see some of the tools used to conduct experiments, like weather balloons, satellites and even robots. Meanwhile, hands-on exhibits are sure to excite the budding meteorologist in your family. After you've sufficiently toured the complex, get some fresh air along the Walter Orr Roberts Nature and Weather Trail, where you can learn all about Table Mesa's wildlife.

Guided tours of the center are available on Monday, Wednesday and Friday between noon and 1 p.m., and recent visitors recommend coming prepared to learn as knowledgeable tour guides are eager to answer your questions. You can also opt for a tablet or cellphone tour; whichever option you choose, travelers highly recommend taking some time to explore on your own before grabbing a snack and enjoying the view from the on-site cafeteria.

Written by Carri Wilbanks Updated Dec 23, 2023 We may earn a commission from affiliate links ( )

Boulder has always prided itself on being unique, but this city, just 45 minutes northwest of Denver, also boasts stunning natural beauty thanks to its Rocky Mountain location.

Boulder residents tend to embrace healthy lifestyles, and when it comes to things to do, the city is definitely focused on outdoor activities, with more than 200 miles of hiking and biking trails, as well as lots of rock climbing opportunities. Boulder is also home to the University of Colorado at Boulder and has a lively student population.

There are two main areas that attract tourists: Downtown is anchored by the pedestrian-only Pearl Street Mall , which is filled with shops, art galleries, and restaurants that also spill out to the surrounding blocks. Farther south on Broadway (one of two main north-south drags through Boulder, the other being 28th Street) is The Hill , where the university is located. It is filled with more restaurants and shops.

However, many of Boulder's top attractions, like The Flatirons and Flagstaff Mountain , are located in the hills and parks surrounding this outdoorsy city.

Flatirons

Visible from pretty much anywhere in town, Boulder's most distinctive feature is its natural backdrop, the Flatirons, which are a line of five huge, slanted slices of sandstone. One of the most popular rock climbing destinations in the city, the Flatirons area is also home to dozens of hiking trails that take tourists into the surrounding foothills, and one, the Flatirons Vista Trail , that leads right into the rocks.

The best place to begin admiring the Flatirons is the Open Space Mountain Parks area, a beautiful meadow space at the city's southwestern corner off Highway 93, where many of the hiking trails start. There is a paid parking lot on the west side of Highway 93.

Tulips blooming on the Pearl Street Mall

Boulder's most iconic man-made attraction is the Pearl Street Mall, which is definitely one of the top sightseeing spots in town. Running along Pearl Street for four blocks, the brick-paved pedestrian mall should be walked at least once while visiting. This buzzing area is filled with shops, both national chain brands and independent boutiques, as well as art galleries and dozens of restaurants.

There are benches where you can relax and do some top-notch people watching, and you'll usually stumble upon street performances. The Pearl Street Mall is the heart of Downtown Boulder, but not the only attraction here. The blocks surrounding the pedestrian-only walkway are home to more shopping and dining options and are equally popular with tourists.

Chautauqua Park

Boulder was the first city in the USA to specifically tax itself to preserve open space, and as such has a plethora of impressive city parks, including beautiful Chautauqua. The park, which is next to the Open Space Management Area, features stunning Flatirons views and plenty of hiking trails climbing up from its wide-open meadow setting.

It also has a cultural component. Chautauqua has been preserved as a historic landmark since 1898, when Boulder residents approved a bond issue to purchase the 80 acres it sits on.

Today, it is home to a community center dating back to the late 1800s that hosts lectures and music festivals, as well as a romantic restaurant, The Chautauqua Dining Hall. There is also a playground and tennis courts. Admission to the park is free.

Celestial Seasonings Tea Shop at the factory

When locals take their family sightseeing in Boulder, a stop at the Celestial Seasonings Tea Factory is usually on the agenda. The company is the largest herbal tea producer in North America, serving up more than 1.6 billion cups of tea annually.

The Boulder factory packages more than eight million tea bags a day, and visitors can tour the facility for free daily. The 45-minute tours give you a behind-the-scenes glimpse into how the tea is made.

You'll get to check out the company's herb garden, as well as pay a visit to its Mint Room, where huge bags of peppermint and spearmint tea are stored before shipping - the smell in here is intense. There are also free tea tastings.

Eldorado Canyon State Park

Part of Colorado's state park system, Eldorado Canyon is another top tourist attraction just outside Boulder. Home to soaring sandstone cliffs that are popular with rock climbers, the park boasts more than 500 technical climbing routes.

If you don't climb, however, no worries as there are also plenty of hiking and mountain biking trails as well as picnic spots along pretty South Boulder Creek, which also runs through the park. In winter, visitors can try snowshoeing and cross country skiing - it's easy to rent equipment from outdoors shops around Boulder.

University of Colorado at Boulder

The CU Boulder campus is well worth a wander. It has plenty of impressive architecture, like the Old Main building, which was the university's first structure, dating back to 1876. The campus also boasts a number of attractions like the outdoor Mary Rippon Theatre, where the Colorado Shakespeare Festival performs in summer.

Here, you'll also find the Museum of Natural History , where more than four million objects, including Colorado's largest collection of bee specimens are on display. And the CU Art Museum , which has more than 8,000 objects covering some 10,000 years of human artistic creations.

Fiske Planetarium

On the CU Boulder campus, Fiske is one of the largest planetariums between Los Angeles and Chicago and also one of the most impressive.

The venue features a busy event line-up throughout the year. These include talks by leading researchers in the field, opportunities to check out the stars through the lens of the powerful Zeiss telescope, live musical and theater performances, interactive full-dome films in its completely immersive theater, and popular late-night laser and liquid sky shows that are set to music.

CU Boulder neighborhood

Directly to the west of the CU Boulder campus, The Hill is the city's college neighborhood and a buzzy place to wander when school is in session. Here, you'll find a number of student-focused shops and restaurants like The Sink, which has been attracting visitors for decades with its graffiti walls and delicious pizza. You'll also find live music entertainment venues like Fox Theatre .

Location: West of CU Boulder off University Blvd, Boulder Colorado

Flagstaff Mountain

A favorite destination to watch the sunset, you can either hike up or drive to the top of Flagstaff Mountain, which offers stunning panoramic views of Boulder and behind from its 6,983-foot-high summit. Also at the top is the Flagstaff Summit Nature Center, where you can learn about the local flora and fauna.

To drive up the mountain, take Flagstaff Road to Flagstaff Summit Road. There is a $5 fee to park at the summit. If you want to hike to the top, depart from the Flagstaff Trailhead where Baseline Road turns into Flagstaff Road. It is a moderate to strenuous two-mile hike up to the summit.

Location: Flagstaff Summit Road, Boulder, Colorado

Mount Sanitas Hiking Trail

Winding up both sides of the ridge that leads to Mount Sanitas' summit, the Mount Sanitas Trail is a challenging but rewarding hike that's a local favorite - although many Boulderites choose to run the trail for a quick workout.

The climb is rated moderate to difficult, and if you're not used to the altitude, you will definitely feel it on the way up, with a 1,343-feet of elevation gain in just over 1.5 miles (it's a 3.1-mile round-trip). But make it to the top, and you'll be richly rewarded with beautiful views across the valley.

Location: 0.5 miles west of 4th Street on Mapleton Ave, Boulder, Colorado

Valmont Bike Park

If mountain biking is your preferred outdoor activity, then you'll love Boulder's natural surface terrain park. Covering 42 acres, it offers a range of amenities for different skill levels, from beginner freestyle riders to cyclocross experts.

In the terrain park, you'll find dirt jumps, dual slalom, and two pump parks. For cyclocross there is a sandpit and two staircase run-up features. For more traditional riders, check out the network of single-track trails of varying difficulty. This attraction is also family friendly, with kid specific amenities.

Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art

Located downtown, the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art has been around since 1972 when it was founded by a group of local artists. Today, it is one of the top venues in the state to showcase contemporary art.

The three galleries here rotate exhibits of regional, national, and international art. There is also a 100-seat black-box theater that puts on innovative performances, from dance to poetry readings, held throughout the year. The art exhibits are often eclectic and explore topics from racial inequality to disparities in wealth and poverty. Check their informative website for upcoming exhibits.

Ornate detail at the Dushanbe Teahouse in Boulder

The most unique looking restaurant in Boulder, the Dushanbe Teahouse is an attraction in its own right. Set along the Boulder Creek just a few blocks from the Pearl Street Mall, this landmark property was a gift from Boulder's sister city in Tajikistan.

The ornate Persian teahouse is a 1,700-square-foot work of art created by a group of 40 Tajik artisans over a number of years. Hand-carved and painted, it was built in Tajikistan than disassembled and shipped in pieces to Boulder, where it was put back together.

Today it serves as a functioning teahouse and restaurant. There are more than 100 teas on its menu, including a signature Teahouse Chai that should not be missed. The menu is internationally influenced but includes some Tajik dishes.

The real reason to visit, however, is to check out the interior design that features ornate carved plaster panels, cedar columns, a hand-painted ceiling, and contemporary oil paintings.

Address: 1770 13th St, Boulder, Colorado

In a striking brick and concrete building downtown, The Museum of Boulder at Tebo Center is dedicated to telling Boulder's story throughout the decades. It is home to numerous artifacts from the city's past and also displays current artistic accomplishments. Dedicated to showcasing community stories, the museum features rotating exhibits covering everything from health to the art of travel.

The permanent Boulder Experience exhibition gives a good lesson on Boulder's history through interactive displays and multimedia experiences. There are also exhibits specifically for children, including the Playzeum, where kids can let their imagination loose with age-appropriate activities and exploration zones. The museum is closed on Tuesdays.

Why choose us?

JD’s Joyrides is an independent, owner-operated, one-man show. Founder and Chief Joyrider Joel Davis has spent 30+ years exploring Boulder by bike and was inspired to launch the business during the Covid pandemic as a way of bringing people together during a time of deep isolation. The pandemic is over (more or less), but JD’s Joyrides remains dedicated to bringing people together, taking a less-is-more approach to deliver an authentic, personal, unique and fun experience that showcases Boulder’s beauty and spreads the joy, wellbeing and sense of freedom eBiking provides. You’ll come away from our time together with a better feel for this potentially life-changing transportation mode -- and a Boulder you never knew existed.

Unique Experiences

You'll see a lot when we ride, but the best part is the sense of joy and freedom that comes from riding eBikes in a town built for biking.

Passionate Guides

Our guides know more than the best routes and shortcuts. They’re eager to show you something you didn’t know you love about Boulder.

Small Groups

With a maximum of just eight bikes per ride, you'll never get left behind or lost in the crowd. (If you have a larger group, we can still ride. Let’s talk.)

Boulder: An Artsy, Bike-Friendly, Colorado Jewel

Boulder, Colorado, is renowned for its quaint downtown area and incredible natural beauty. With over 300 miles of pathways, it's extremely bike-friendly, allowing for entirely protected rides for much of our journey. Whether you want to see our impressive collection of murals, tour the CU campus, or get a closer look at the iconic Flatirons, exploring Boulder with JD's Joyrides is the way to go.

Frequently asked questions

Where are you located.

JD’s Joyrides is located at 5151 Arapahoe Ave, Boulder, CO 80303

We can be a little tricky to find as we’re actually off Range St. (Google Maps will get you here.)

You’ll find my bike shack in the parking lot BEHIND Updog Day Care.

From Arapahoe Ave you’ll turn north onto Range St and then make the second left into the parking lot, just past Updog Day Care’s white fence.

Still not finding it? Give me a call and I’ll guide you in! (303-818-5280).

DO YOU OFFER PARKING?

Yes! We have plenty of free parking.

ARE RESTROOMS AVAILABLE?

No! JD’s Joyrides does not have a restroom. We’re happy to find a place to stop along the way upon request.

WHAT COVID-19 PRECAUTIONS ARE YOU TAKING?

Fortunately, biking is one of the “cleanest” activities you can still enjoy during a pandemic. As of this writing, there are no local mask mandates or restrictions. If you’re feeling ill or symptomatic, please consider rebooking.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT FROM THE RIDE?

Depending on the ride you book, you can expect to see a combination of murals, mountains, bike paths, Boulder’s unique urban/natural interface and, if we’re lucky, some wildlife.

Yes, we’ll see many objects of interest as well as popular Boulder sites/sights, but the main point of every JD’s Joyrides outing is to simply immerse ourselves in the pleasure of riding eBikes in one of the world’s friendliest cycling cities.

We’ll go through several neighborhoods, riding on a mix of bike paths, trails and surface streets (we keep our time on busy streets to an absolute minimum). We’ll move at a pace that's comfortable for all, and stop along the way for water/rest breaks, picture opportunities, etc.

Your guide will share stories, information and other fun facts, but much of the time you'll find yourself riding along in relative quiet, free to take in the beauty that's all around you.

WHAT LEVEL OF RIDING ABILITY IS REQUIRED?

If you can ride a bike, you can ride an eBike. The “e” in these bikes is pedal assist: if you pedal, the bike will help. You’ll still have to pedal to climb hills, but without gasping for breath or soaking in sweat on your way to the top. In the end, you’ll feel like you rode a bike, but it is by no means a strenuous ride. Exhilarating, yes, but not strenuous. If you can walk a couple of miles with relative ease and have a basic level of comfort on a regular bicycle, then you should have no problem with our eBikes. If you’re still not sure about this, these descriptions should help. Required of all riders I have the basic ability and experience needed to ride a bike on my own. Level 1 (green) I don’t ride regularly, haven’t ridden in a long time, or am not that comfortable on a bike. I’m ready to give this a go but am not sure how well I’ll do. (We’ll make sure you’re feeling comfortable before we even begin the ride, and will check in with you along the way to make sure you’re OK. In our experience, you’re going to have a blast!) Level 2 (blue) I’m very comfortable on a bike and ready to go wherever you take me, assuming it’s safe. (Your safety is our #1 priority.) Level 3 (black) I’m an expert rider and if I knew my way around this town I’d be the one leading the tour! (We hear you and let’s go! (we’re still going to lead though)).

ARE THERE ANY HEIGHT OR WEIGHT RESTRICTIONS?

Anyone from 5’ to 6’6” should be able to ride pretty comfortably. Max weight is 275.

IS THERE A MINIMUM AGE REQUIREMENT?

Riders must be 14 years of age or older (ages 14-17 must be accompanied by an adult guardian).

ARE THERE ANY FORMS TO FILL OUT?

All riders must complete an online waiver before riding.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

Comfortable clothes for being outdoors on a bike. Please check the forecast for the full day you are riding. Conditions can change quickly in Colorado.

Protection against wind and rain are recommended. Because of the pedal assist, your body won't generate as much heat as you maybe used to on a regular bike, and wind chill is a real thing.

Closed-toe shoes are recommended. NO flip-flops please!

WHAT SHOULD I BRING?

The following are not required, but strongly recommended: •camera •sunglasses •sunscreen •bike helmet (we'll provide if you don't have one) •water bottle (we'll provide if you don't have one) •rain/cold weather gear (check the forecast before you come and keep in mind that you may be riding at speeds a little higher than you're used to, and Colorado weather can change quickly. Wind chill is a real thing! We recommend dressing in layers.) NOTE: the bikes have racks to which we can attach your pack. Your guide will also have some (but not unlimited) carrying capacity for extra jackets/gear. If you're not sure, bring it!

WHAT DO YOU PROVIDE?

•Rad Power Bike (pedal assist eBike) •Helmet (you’re welcome to bring your own) •Bottled water (you’re welcome to bring your own water bottle; we can fill it)

DO YOU HAVE A CANCELLATION POLICY?

Reservations are confirmed once payment is received.

A full refund will be issued on cancellations received 48 hours or more before scheduled tour/rental start time.

A refund less 25% will be issued on cancellations made 24-48 hours in advance of your scheduled reservation.

No refunds will be issued on reservations canceled within 24 hours of the scheduled starting time.

If you do not show up for your reserved tour/rental, no refund will be issued.

We appreciate your understanding.

WHAT HAPPENS IF THERE’S BAD WEATHER?

Weather conditions can change rapidly in Colorado and safety is our highest priority. If the weather is inclement and not conducive to a safe and pleasant tour, JD's Joyrides will cancel the tour and riders can reschedule for another day or receive a full refund. Weather cancellations are subject to the sole discretion of JD's Joyrides.

DO I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO RIDE A BIKE?

Yes. You don't have to be a strong or frequent rider, or have prior experience with eBikes, but you should be able to manage yourself fairly comfortably on a bicycle.

DO YOU ACCEPT LAST MINUTE BOOKINGS OR WALK-INS?

Last minute bookings are handled case-by-case based on our availability. We are not a storefront and our location is generally staffed only to meet riders with reservations.

We do aim to accommodate our guests as best we can though. If you're considering a last-minute ride, we strongly encourage you to give us a call. We're pretty good about responding to these types of requests and will get back to you quickly either way.

IS THERE A CUTOFF TIME FOR RENTAL PICKUPS?

Yes. We are not a storefront and our location is generally staffed only to meet riders with reservations.

If you are running late for your rental pickup, please contact us ASAP. We're generally very good at adapting to your needs but we do require advance notice.

If you are more than 15 minutes late for your rental pickup and do not make an effort to contact us, we reserve the right to cancel your reservation without refund.

DO YOU ACCOMMODATE PRIVATE OR GROUP TOURS?

Yes! Contact us and we'll create a Boulder eBike ride just for you and your crew. •A $200 non-refundable deposit is required to reserve time slot. This amount will be applied to the full booking price. •Full balance due must be paid no less than two (2) weeks before tour date. •Cancellations made more than 72 hours in advance will receive a full refund less the $200 deposit and any expenses incurred by JD’s Joyrides in the planning of your ride (e.g., additional bike rentals, food/refreshment purchases). •A 50% refund will be issued on cancellations made 48-72 hours in advance. •No refunds will be issued on cancellations made less than 48 hours in advance.

We have gone on two trips with Power Place Tours. The first adventure was in Egypt where we visited many temples with an excellent Egyptian Archeologist who made the many temples and pyramids come to life with his knowledge. Drifting down the Nile was magical in our lovely boat with excellent food and entertainment. Loved the small size of our group. We spent the solstice standing at the foot of the Spinx for sunrise. I was most impressed how the tour guides were able to navigate our temple trips. The temples were essentially empty when we arrived and as we were leaving them huge crowds were arriving. Our second trip was to Machu Picchu. It was a trip of a lifetime and we will treasure the memories forever. So pleased with Power Places we are going on a third trip with them soon.

I was really happy with our tour of Peru, organized by Power Places Tours. I felt like we were in very good hands throughout our trip. Our tour manager and all the guides were fantastic and knowledgeable and really understood the spiritual perspective our group had. I especially enjoyed our experience at Mystical Lake Titicaca. Thank you for a worry-free, well-organized vacation! I will recommend Power Places Tours to others also!!

This company is all about the money. Their website shows the owner with the Dali Lama claiming how compassionately she runs her business. She must have a different definition of compassion than I'm used to. My wife and I signed up for the Yucatan trip in Dec 2012 over a year in advance and paid $1900 down. My wife lost her job and we decided we could not afford the $8000 - $10,000 trip so asked for a refund less their $300 admin fee. Even though we cancelled over a year in advance their fine print says they're keeping the $1900. I missed the deadline by 2 weeks. They claimed they had to make commitments way ahead of time with airlines, hotels, etc. Funny thing - the airlines hadn't even published their schedule yet. I asked through a BBB complaint if our cancellation had actually caused them any financial damage and to show proof. No answer was provided and they simply stood behind their fine print and kept the money Be careful. If everything goes according to their plans you're OK, if not you could be in serious financial trouble.
