However, you don’t necessarily have to book an expert guide to take you diving in the Bahamas. You can rent equipment or bring your own to use inshore near the coral reefs or blue holes around the islands, or you can take a boat out farther off the coast.

You can find lots of wildlife while diving in February. Sharks are really common to see this month since breeding this season is coming to a close near Bimini and Grand Bahama. You’ll see anything from Hammerhead, Whale & Tiger sharks to reef, lemon and nurse sharks all over the Bahamas. Most of the diving sites are fairly shallow around the islands, so beginners will feel comfortable here.

Golf is ramping up in February and there are lots of great places to go around the islands. The weather can get windy, but there’s little chance of rain so most days will be ideal for several hours on the course. Many of the largest resorts in the Bahamas have well-managed and professionally designed golf courses for you to choose from. Lots of guests will even choose their resort based on the golf course.

The Royal Blue Golf Club is one of the top courses in the Bahamas. It was designed by Jack Nicklaus and is equipped with bunkers and sand dunes along the evergreen fairways. Rocky hills offer a stunning backdrop to this 18 hole championship course on New Providence Island.

Another great course to consider is the Scottish-style 18-hole championship course at the Abaco Club on Winding Bay . It’s located on the Abaco Islands and was designed by Tom Mackenzie and Donald Steele. The club offers lessons and also has a new practice facility right on the pink sand beaches of Marsh Harbour.

ATV the Islands

The Bahamas has lots of fun tours to take around large popular areas like Nassau, around the coastline or tours that hop from island to island. One of the best to do during February is an ATV tour that takes you through the dunes and beaches, as well as the city. These tours take place specifically in Nassau and usually include lunch if you pick the all day tour. Otherwise, you can hop on a tour midday.

Another fun way to explore the islands is on a Pirate Jeep Sightseeing Tour . This unique excursion is designed for small groups who seek to learn the pirate lore and history of New Providence Island. Instead of manning the vehicle yourself, the jeeps come with a driver and tour guide to lead you on this fun adventure. This is a full day experience where you’ll encounter sharks, stingrays, and iguanas, plus you’ll get a chance to swim with the famous pigs of Exuma.

You can also go island hopping via speed boat, which is can be much cheaper than the powerboat tours, depending on which you select. You can select many different destinations from private beaches to snorkeling holes to sand bars, so we suggest looking into the perfect tour to fit your budget and bucket list.

Horseback Ride on the Beach

Swimming with the pigs is the most popular experience in the Bahamas year round, but the farm animal fun doesn’t stop there. Horseback tours are a romantic way to skim the shoreline while getting breathtaking views of the crystal clear waters. Happy Trails on Paradise Island offers spectacular sunrise trail rides through the brush of the island to the coast. You can book small party trips or tag along with another group to complete the experience.

Freeport also offers horseback tours which take guests on a two hour of sightseeing journey through Grand Bahama. The trail guides will lead you on a scenic path to some of the most popular destinations on the island as you saunter through the brush and trees of the natural landscape. Lastly, Half Moon Cay has the most intriguing horseback experience, which takes you on a ride and swim through the waves on your horse. This experience is definitely the most adventurous!

For those less excited by valiant steeds, shelling is a lovely way to unwind while exploring the coast. Bahamian residents claim the best shelling is done on Somerset Creek Beach at Andros Island and Eleuthera Island. Visitors can find many various native shells including sand dollars and conches. But be vigilant about the shells you collect: conch shells cannot be taken from the beaches.

Snorkel Off the Coast

The Bahama beaches are irresistible for sunbathing, and we highly recommend taking several hours or a full day to relax on the beach. But the Bahamas are also a haven for natural wonders and pristine waters, so we also recommend snorkeling.

Lots of resorts offer snorkeling equipment for rent or for free, making it easy for anyone to swim the local coast. But snorkeling tours and adventures are the best way to see reef fish and find underwater shells, since a local guide will take you to the best spots for sighting creatures.

Snorkel gear isn’t the only thing for rent – rental companies line the beaches on many of the islands. Jet Skis and Banana Boats are really fun vehicles for trailblazing the waves and taking in the beautiful February weather. Glass bottom boats are another fun way to slowly skim the water while viewing all the ocean life that swims by.

February Events in the Bahamas

Annual Bahamas Wahoo Championships

February is the middle of Wahoo season in the Bahamas and is commemorated each year with a fishing championship. Loads of fishing boats set out from Hawk’s Nest Marina one weekend this month to compete for several different challenges, including largest fish and most fish caught. The event ends with a banquet to award the winners and to celebrate a great season.

Farmer’s Cay Festival

Farmer’s Cay Festival is a three-day event which happens the first Friday in February each year. The event kicks off with a banquet, music, dancing and much anticipation for the following days. A sailboat race is the main highlight of the weekend, followed by other small competitions around Exuma.

Rum Cay Day Festival

This festive event is always held the last Friday in February and hosts guests from neighboring Cat Island and San Salvador Island for one big party. Rum Cay Day celebrates the music, craftsmanship and cuisine of native Rum Cay islanders . This warm and inviting event is always open to tourists and visitors who seek to learn more about the island lifestyle.

February in the Bahamas is perfect for Valentine’s Day getaways, romantic honeymoons and any other fun adventures you’d like to have. The great weather makes beachy, outdoor activities all the more wonderful, and these conditions are make for great boating and scuba diving excursions.

If you love the idea of a busy holiday with lots available to you and crowds to go with it, February is a great month for planning to visit the Bahamas. All of the islands are teeming with life on land and in the water, though you should expect to pay a fair price for your trip in February.

Bahamas Weather in February: Dry and Cool

Beach lovers won’t love Bahamas weather in February, but that doesn’t stop cruise and hotel visitors. Average daytime temperatures hover in the upper 70s Fahrenheit. Rainfall is usually low.

More than 100,000 people visit the Bahamas for overnight vacations every year in February, according to the Caribbean Tourism Organization. Cruise ships also flock to the islands during the month. Visitors may like the low risk of rain, but temperatures are a bit cool for anyone who likes to swim.

Bahamas Temperatures in February

The average daytime temperature in Nassau is 78 degrees Fahrenheit or 26 degrees Celsius, according to the Bahamas Department of Meteorology. It is the coolest month of the year except for January , which almost equals February.

The average low temperature, which occurs mostly at night, is 63 Fahrenheit or 17 Celsius.

Seawater temperature is usually about midway between nighttime and daytime temperatures. That means the ocean will be too cool for swimming during February for everyone except for the most hardy of swimmers. Daytime air temperatures need to reach 80 degrees Fahrenheit or higher and nighttime temperatures 70 Fahrenheit or higher for seawater temperatures to start feeling comfortable.

Visitors will find that spending time on the beach itself will be more comfortable with proper clothing to protect against chilling trade winds, especially in the mornings.

Temperatures will be slightly warmer in late February as winter begins to fade.

Bahamas Rainfall in February

Nassau does much better with rain than temperatures in February.

It rains on average six days during the month, according to the Bahamas Department of Meteorology. The number of days with rain is the lowest of the year.

Total rainfall in Nassau during February is about two inches historically, which is slightly higher than January.

By comparison, Nassau averages nine inches in June and 10 inches in August.

What to Do in February

The Bahamas technically are located in the Atlantic Ocean and not the Caribbean Sea. But they are usually included in Caribbean travel tips because they are a common stop for many Caribbean cruises.

The fact that they are north of the Caribbean Sea means they have colder temperatures in February than other Caribbean destinations.

But the islands remain popular anyway for one good reason: Rainfall in the Bahamas in February reaches the lowest point of the year.

Average temperatures and rainfall provide a guide about what to expect with Bahamas weather in February. Actual temperatures and rainfall will vary somewhat from year to year.

When Is the Best Time to Go to The Bahamas?

The best time to visit The Bahamas, an archipelago of more than 700 islands that stretches 760 miles across the western Atlantic Ocean, is winter or spring.

On Grand Bahama, New Providence, where Nassau is situated, and other northwestern islands, expect comfortable but cooler winter temperatures.

From mid-December through February, temperatures are pleasant, and rainfall remains relatively low. Even though temperatures and rainfall increase slightly in March and April, those months are also good times to visit The Bahamas.

Visiting The Bahamas by Season

Pearl Island

Summer brings the warmest weather of the year. Average temperatures in Nassau in June, July, and August hover at 84℉ (29℃), and highs reach 91℉ (33℃). June has the highest summer rainfall of 8.9 inches (225mm).

July’s average rainfall in Nassau drops to 5.9 inches (150mm), increasing to 8.5 inches (215mm) in August.

Cool off by swimming, snorkeling, and scuba diving. June and July are prime times to fish for blue marlin off Bimini .

In fall, temperatures drop from summer highs. In September, Nassau temperatures average 84℉ (29 ℃), dropping to a pleasant 77℉ (25℃) by November.

Rainfall decreases in Nassau over the fall compared with summer, although the chances of tropical storms remain through November. September is typically the wettest fall month, averaging 7.1 inches of rain (180mm). Precipitation drops right down to 3.1 inches (80mm) in November.

There’s still enough sunshine to enjoy the beaches in and around Nassau . During rainy periods, shop for batik fabrics, especially those by Ambrosia, straw baskets, rum, and other local items.

Winter is the best time to go to The Bahamas. In December, January, and February, average temperatures in Nassau hover around 73℉ (22.7℃) with highs reaching a comfortable 81℉ (27.2℃).

Winter is the dry season, with rainfall of two inches (50mm) per month. Take advantage of the balmy weather to explore. Some of the best things to do in Nassau include climbing the 66 steps of the Queen’s Staircase, going on an ATV tour, seeing the flamingos at Ardastra Gardens, Zoo and Conservation Center and enjoying swimming and watersports.

Spring is also one of the best times to visit The Bahamas.  March temperatures in Nassau average 74℉ (23℃), increasing to 78℉ (26 ℃) by May. In March and April, rainfall is 2.6 inches (65mm), rising to 4.5 inches (115mm) in May.

With warm water and mostly sunny skies, spring is a good time to sail, enjoy the beaches, and go snorkeling in Nassau .

When Is Rainy Season?

June through November is The Bahamas’ rainy season. The heaviest summer precipitation, 8.5 inches (215mm), occurs in August.

When Is High Season?

High season stretches from mid-December through mid-April, with a peak for the Christmas holiday season. The temperate and dry days draw those seeking to escape cold northern climates.

When Is Shoulder Season?

Shoulder season in The Bahamas consists of the first two weeks of December, the last two weeks of April, and all of May. December in particular is a good time to go to The Bahamas, for generally fine weather and a tan to lift your spirits in winter.

When Is Low Season?

Low season, when the islands receive the most rain, occurs from June through November. This isn’t a bad time to visit, but you do run the risk of being caught in passing tropical storms.

Consider the temperatures that you prefer and how much time you can spend. Think about timing questions like whether you want to travel during school vacations or not. Choosing the Weather You Prefer

You’ll love the fresh trade winds that give the islands an agreeable climate all year round. The weather can be compared to Miami , Florida, which means you’ll see mostly sunny days with some clouds. When the rains come, you’ll see squalls or thunderstorms that clear quickly.

From December through February, temperatures range from high 70s during the day to lows in the mid 60s at night. March starts a slight warm up, and the months of April to November bring high temperatures in the mid to upper 80s with nighttime temperatures in the low to mid 70s.

You have options for your Bahamas cruise. For a quick and easy getaway, plan a 2-5 day cruise. If you’re planning a long weekend, a 3-day jaunt will give you just the break you need. After January's New Year celebrations and the end of the Junkanoo winter festival in the Bahamas , the early months of the year remain comparatively quiet, especially as children return to school.

The heat rises in May and June, with hotter temperatures potentially soaring into the 90s. Additionally, the summertime heat brings the beginning of the wet season in the Bahamas, with noticeably more downpours occurring along with a more humid climate.

Sure, the air is hotter and stickier, and rains are more likely, but May does offer an upside; it's the official start of the Bahamas' off-season, which translates to reduced crowds and fewer tourists, as well as the possibility of bagging bargains on one's vacation. Deals on transport, hotels, activities, excursions, and, of course, cruise vacations in the Bahamas aren't uncommon, as the tourism industry attempts to entice visitors to come during the low season.

W hen is the absolute best time to cruise to the Bahamas? The short answer is that any time you can make it happen is the best time.

The long answer depends on what matters most to you. Are you going to play in the water? Are you averse to the risks of schedule changes or cancellations? Are you cruising to the Bahamas because it's cheap? Do you want a party atmosphere or peace and quiet? The answers to these questions will determine the best month or season for your Bahamas cruise.

Taking weather, price and crowds into consideration, I'm going with November as the best time to cruise to the Bahamas . Here's how I came to that conclusion. However, you might decide another month is the best time for you to sail away to the islands.

The best time based on weather

Although some travelers will tell you January is the best month to cruise to the Bahamas, I personally have experienced chilly weather there in both December and January. Remember, the Bahamas are located in the Atlantic Ocean, not the Caribbean. They're not truly tropical islands, and most are at more northern latitudes than Key West. Winter temperatures aren't always balmy.

I've had two stops at private islands canceled due to strong winds and temperatures in the 50s and 60s. One ship I was on made an alternate stop at Freeport, which was still chilly, but at least the vessel was able to dock. It was a wasted day for those hoping to enjoy water sports or the beach. Only the shoppers weren't deterred by the chill in the air.

Don't get me wrong: January is usually a wonderful time to cruise to the Bahamas, as long as you're prepared for the relatively rare cold front that blows that far south.

Some travelers will tell you to avoid cruising to the Bahamas during the peak of the Atlantic hurricane season , which occurs from August to October. Here's the thing about that: The cruise line isn't going to put you or their ship in harm's way.

Might the cruise line cancel your sailing or switch up your itinerary? Sure. But if you're able to go with the flow and don't have your heart set on visiting a particular port, you can often score lower prices during that time of year.

The best month to cruise to the Bahamas, weather-wise, depends on your travel style. Are you stressed by the possibility of cancellations due to hurricanes or by port changes from unexpected cold fronts? Skip January, December, August, September and maybe even October.

Are you only going on the cruise for water sports like diving, snorkeling or boating? Then rule out December, January and possibly February.

Do you avoid high heat and humidity as if it were a plague? Then don't book a cruise to the Bahamas in July, August or September.

The months we haven't mentioned are March, April, May, June and November. If weather is your biggest concern, those are the best months for you to hop on a Bahamas cruise.

The best time based on prices and crowds

It's no secret that cruises to the Bahamas can be cheap, but they aren't always so. Here are the averages we found for price per person, per night, across the mainstream cruise lines, along with what kind of crowd you can expect to find on board. Exceptions to these averages are always possible, especially on odd-length cruises like four- and five-night sailings.

The autumn months can be an ideal time to cruise to the Bahamas if you're looking for cheaper fares and fewer crowds — especially if you're not bothered by the increased hurricane risk. (Sept. 10 is the official peak of hurricane season.)

October tends to be the lowest-priced month to cruise to the Bahamas, with many inside, outside and balcony cabins available for less than $100 per person, per night. Even suites tend to be a good deal. October sailings do not usually include very many children or college-age party people, but the lower fares do attract working folks looking to let off steam, especially on three-night sailings.

September runs a close second to October, with fares running a few dollars higher per night. Expect a similar crowd. The shorter the cruise, the louder the party tends to be.

November (before the holidays) is perhaps the ideal time to cruise. We found suites in early to mid-November tend to be less than $200 per person, per night, with other categories running just slightly more than hurricane season rates. You can expect few children on board, other than home-schoolers and preschoolers. With the holidays right around the corner, the ships often will be a bit emptier than usual, making for a quiet cruise.

Early December cruises cost only slightly more than November sailings. If you love holiday decor (both on board and in a tropical setting) and dressing up in holiday clothes, you can enjoy a relatively quiet cruise early in December. The later it gets, the more the crowds swell.

The absolute most expensive cruises to the Bahamas we found were during the week between Christmas and New Year's when you can expect to pay more than double what you would during the fall months. This is max-capacity time on board. The best news for those looking for a floating holiday party is that you will find your people cruising during that week.

January and February cruises to the Bahamas are almost always bargains, with standard cabins running about the same price as in the early fall — less than $100 per person, per night. You'll likely find it possible to snag a suite for less than $200. These are months between the holiday parties and spring break, so you can usually sit back and enjoy smaller, quieter crowds.

In March, April and May, you'll have to shop around for deals or hope for a last-minute special, but you can find lower prices if you look. March cruises will always include spring breakers of all ages, so expect children on board — just not as many as in summer.

You also might find yourself sharing a ship with a spring break party cruise charter in March. Even if your ship is quiet, the ports you visit might be filled with hordes of vacationing college kids, so be prepared for a lively crowd.

In June, July and August, you should be able to find a standard cabin — inside, outside or balcony — for $150 per person, per night or less. Suites start at roughly $250 per person, per night.

Ships will be loaded with families. Expect children of all ages and maxed-out onboard kids clubs. Fares typically begin to fall toward the end of August, when schools start back up and hurricane season kicks into gear.

Bottom line

The big mainstream cruise lines sail to the Bahamas year-round, so whichever season or month suits your schedule, you'll find plenty of options departing from multiple ports, including four in Florida; two in New York City; Bayonne, New Jersey; and Galveston, Texas. Even better news is that the abundance of options means an abundance of deals year-round.

The best time to cruise to the Bahamas might vary by traveler, but feel confident that you can't go wrong with an island vacation, no matter which month you choose.

When is the best time of the year to plan your cruise to the Bahamas?

Over 3 million people a year sail on a cruise to the Bahamas and there really isn’t a bad time to sail.

However, there are some times that are better than others, depending upon your own individual requirements and priorities.

Let’s look at each of the factors that will influence your choice of which are the best months to cruise to the Bahamas.

When is the Best Weather in the Bahamas?

A huge part of the appeal of a cruise to the Bahamas is that the weather is consistently great for most of the year.

Average temperatures in the Bahamas range from 72 degrees in January to 84 in August.

When you decide to cruise, if your decision is based largely on the weather, will depend on your own personal weather preferences.

If you don’t want to be in the hottest and rainiest season then avoid the summer months, particularly August. The wettest month in the Bahamas is August, which average rainfall is 6.25 inches.

When you consider that the average rainfall for the whole year is 30.5 inches, you can see just how hot and rainy August is compared to the rest of the year.

If you like the higher temperatures avoid December to February when the average temperatures are lower. The coldest month is January, with an average temperature of 72 degrees.

This is particularly true if you are going to spend time in the ocean. The water temperature can vary quite a bit between the summer and winter months, so if you know that you are definitely going to spend some time with a water-based excursion you might want to avoid the winter.

For example, if we look at the weather on Disney’s Private Island in the Bahamas, Castaway Cay, we can see that the water temperature ranges from an average of 73 degrees in January and February to an average of 81 and 82 degrees from May to October.

This 10-degree range makes a huge difference.

One thing that you really must be careful of is whatever time of year, be very vigilant and use and reapply  Reef Friendly Sunscreen  frequently.

Sunburn is really not the memory that you want of your time in The Bahamas. It can happen really quickly so always make sure you keep reapplying sunscreen for yourself and your children.

If the weather is your priority and you are picking the best time to take a cruise to the Bahamas then the months of March to June are likely to be the ones you should concentrate on.

November is also a good month to consider for a cruise to the Bahamas. Temperatures are still an average of 75 degrees and the water temperature is an average of 79 degrees.

Spring Break is a Factor

Want to avoid the Spring Break crowd? Don’t sail to the Bahamas in March or April.

The impact of Spring Break means that not only are you likely to find cruise ships more crowded, but the ports of call in the Bahamas will be impacted as well.

Prices on cruise ships increase at this time – the law of supply and demand.

Is Price the Most Important Thing?

Cruises to the Bahamas offer great value for money and are usually one of the least expensive on a per-night basis.

There are many different cruise lines and ships to choose from which sail on a variety of itineraries to the Bahamas.

As you might expect, the summer months tend to be the most expensive. This is the time that many people want to sail as it falls within the summer school break.

June, July, and August will usually be the peak months for pricing, with some lower rates to be found from mid-August onwards when children start to go back to school.

Fall can be a really good time to cruise, particularly if you are prepared to sail during hurricane season (see below for why you should really consider doing this). September and October see decent weather and less demand so prices are generally lower than peak times.

Consider Novembe r for a good combination of price and average temperatures.

Don’t forget about December either. Many cruises have a Holiday theme and this can be a really special time to spend on a cruise.

Of course, if you sail around Christmas and New Year weeks you will find the prices higher as many guests want to celebrate the season with a cruise. Avoid this time if you are looking for a bargain as you are unlikely to find one!

Looking for a bargain-priced cruise to the Bahamas? The most likely time to find one is to sail in January or February. You will experience fewer crowds but also have to deal with lower temperatures.

What About Hurricane Season?

Hurricane season in the Bahamas officially starts on June 1 and ends on 30 November each year.

The peak times for hurricanes in this region are August, September, and October.

Understandably people can be nervous about booking a cruise during hurricane season.

However, cruise lines always have passenger safety as their highest priority. And cruise ships have the technology to be able to sail away from them.

The chances of you being affected by a hurricane on your Bahamian cruise are extremely low. The Captain of the ship will most likely be able to sail well away from the storm.

However, you may be affected by itinerary changes such as not being able to dock in scheduled ports. You may also have a problem even getting to your cruise or leaving to get back home.

This is why you should always look into the option of having travel insurance, either through the cruise line or with an independent insurance provider.

Hi all! We are considering a cruise in February. For those of you who have cruised in February, were you able to enjoy the beach in Nassau, or was it too cold? What about the pools on ship-were they cold or could you swim? Any experiences you've had would be appreciated!:)

Ohh you will be fine! As you can see in my signature the only time I go is in January! The temps will be great and you can swim, snorkel, what ever ! :D

Funny you should ask.. it's been unseasonable cold this month.. in the low 60's .. If this keeps up the water will be frigid by February.

It's usually brisk.. but you can get in for a few minutes to cool off, but it's not really swimming season. You can't stay in for more than a few minutes at a time.

but weather is the stuff that occurs on a given day. For example, today it was cloudy and 73 degrees. Climate is the averaging of temps and other recorded weather over a period of time. Which, is the frustrating part of weather. No one can tell you what the weather is going to be like on a day months away, but you can get a good look at the climate. My advice, come prepared and have alternative plans if it is coolish.

The average temp in February is in the 70's, which to me seems pretty ideal.

It was not that warm. But it actually was better than Jan. 2nd. of 2010. I did go on my last Nassau dive on Jan. 30th. It was warm enough in the water with my wetsuit and as long as the sun was out it was doable (this from a born and raised Floridian).

We will be sailing last week in February, and the thoughts of sunny skies is the only thing keeping me going!! Especially when i got into the car this morning and the temp. read -7 (21f)!!

We are cruising in 1 week and decided to bring our wet suits. We noticed that in all of the photos of the Wave Rider on the ship, the attendants were all wearing wet suits. And sometimes.... wet suits plus!

Does anyone know if the water in Atlantis is heated?

All the kids (and adults) love Atlantis.

We will be heading to Atlantis early so we plan on wearing the wet suits. However if the weather is really warm (above 85 ) we won't need them.

Room temp for me is 82. I don't handle to cool water very well.

Has anyone sailed in February? How was the weather and the sea? Warm enough to be out on the deck and in the pools?

February weather in the Bahamas is almost always warm enough to enjoy the sun/pools.  

Plenty warm during the day. The night might be chilly depending on where you are from.

We sailed on the fantasy end of January. Very rough seas. Roughest I had ever experienced. Our server said the seas had been rough for weeks. Castaway air temps were very pleasant. Water temps were cold for us.

Feb 2022 the decks and pools were warm enough (especially compared to our Alaska cruise in May 2019) but the water at Castaway was cold. My eldest and I didn’t mind it but the little one got out pretty quickly. On the plus side no one wanted a giant overpriced frozen drink.  

I am cold natured. I have been okay with Jan & Feb air temp (and I don’t appreciate hot and humid). The water temp is always a bit cool to me. Doesn’t mean I won’t go in sometimes. If you are not a frequent cruiser and want a better cruise experience, weather-wise, I would look at early May or early December for price, crowds, and moderate weather. If it’s your only available date, it’s a roll of the dice. Actually, water temp doesn’t deviate that much year round. Supposedly, ship pools are heated water (we used them on a late May cruise in Alaska one year). There are a bunch of ships sailing that time of year - it can’t be too bad. Or everyone’s just crazy.

We sailed our first Disney cruise in a February and it was very warm. Castaway Cay was very hot and the water was great! The following year we sailed in March and the weather was comparable.

We sailed in early Feb. 2023 and it was plenty warm enough for any activities outdoors on the ship during the day and pleasant at night as well. The seas were calm, but I will say the water at Castaway Cay was a bit chilly in the mid 70's. I'd recommend a 3/2mm neoprene jacket for snorkeling to be more comfortable, but it wasn't unbearable.

Just checked the sea temp at Trunk Bay, USVI, the last time we docked at St Thomas and did a shore excursion to St John. The water was wonderful. Not cold, not hot. Dec 1, 2023. 83.5 F. Eleven degrees lower than my body temp. It had been 86 in September on a previous cruise. Still refreshing. At home, I want the water to be >79 before my swim season begins. Based on records found at sea temperature info, my preferred month of May deliver temps of 79+ at Castaway Cay .

This is really going to depend on YOU. For example, my family loves to sail in Jan/Feb. We are coming from freezing snow and ice in Ohio so when we get there the water is PERFECT and we have no problem. Now those that actively live in Florida and such may not feel its warm enough.
