All Transit Locations in Escape from Tarkov

Image of Enzo Zalamea

Escape from Tarkov introduced a new map-to-map travel mode, the Marathon game mode. This mode allows players to run multiple maps or raids in one go and includes game-changing mechanics. Battlestate Games has been planning to combine every map for nearly a decade, and this update brings us closer to it than ever before.

Traveling from one map to another poses risks that have never been seen before. Players must plan their strategies ahead and even memorize all the transit locations and extraction points on every single map. Here’s the first step in doing so with this all-in-one transit location guide in Escape from Tarkov.

Complete Transit Locations Guide in Escape from Tarkov

Keep in mind that these transit locations will only open up after seven minutes have passed in the game.

Ground Zero to Streets of Tarkov Transit Location

bhs travel marathon

The transit location is opposite the Terragroup building/labs (the one with the multiple starter quests, such as the scientist’s hard drive). Go down the long and open ramp until you see the barricaded street with an explosion sign next to it. Hide in the corner and use the transit.

Streets of Tarkov to Labs Transit Location

bhs travel marathon

The Streets of Tarkov to Labs location is the trickiest out of all the transit locations. It does make sense because it takes you to a secret laboratory. You must go to the residential zone in the Streets of Tarkov map. You’ll see a red building with a big graffiti of a man saluting on the right. On the main street leading to the Expo Checkpoint or Old Scav Checkpoint (the old extract), you’ll see an alleyway (first image). Look for the orange door, open it, and go down to the Labs transit.

Streets of Tarkov to Interchange Transit Location

bhs travel marathon

In Streets of Tarkov, there’s another transit location that takes the player to Interchange. Players who frequently raid this map would probably already know where it is based on the picture. This is a blockaded street next to Concordia.

Interchange to Customs Transit Location

bhs travel marathon

Interchange is the easiest map to navigate because the whole area is one big square. Outside of the Interchange mall, go to the OLI corner and head toward the railroad tracks as seen in the image above (this is opposite the Railway Exfil).

Customs to Factory Transit Location

bhs travel marathon

The Customs to Factory transit is the orange gate next to the Old Gas Station extraction point. Scavs frequent the area, and it is one of the hottest spots in Customs, so be careful.

Factory to Woods Transit Location

bhs travel marathon

In patch 0.15, Factory got a slight rework with an added area next to the office area. On the first floor of the office, you’ll see a broken window where you can vault out of. This will lead you to the extended version of the Factory. Look for the bunkhouse in the second image. This is the transit location to Woods.

Woods to Reserve Transit Location

bhs travel marathon

The Woods to Reserve transit location is basically the RUAF Roadblock extraction point. It is next to the Sawmill and Emercom base. The Blood Samples quest with the van is also near the extraction.

Reserve to Lighthouse Transit Location

bhs travel marathon

The Reserve to Lighthouse transit is conveniently located near the Armored Trains extraction point. While inside the warehouse or the Armored Train extraction, follow the train tracks until you see the sniper signs. Don’t go beyond this point, or you’ll get shot by PC snipers. Turn left and look for the broken fence. This is the transit location to Lighthouse.

Lighthouse to Shoreline Transit Location

bhs travel marathon

The Lighthouse to Shoreline transit is essentially the “Path to Shoreline” extraction. It is located near a small town and an abandoned village.

How to travel from map to map in Escape from Tarkov

Image of Sharmila Ganguly

Map to map travel is now possible in Escape from Tarkov with patch 0.15, so you no longer need to pull up the main menu to travel between areas. While the rules may seem a bit tricky at first, don’t worry—we are here to help.

Introduced in patch 0.15 , map to map travel in Escape from Tarkov lets you go between major areas without having to pull out the main menu. To help you learn the quirks of zapping between maps, the devs have added a new event mode called Marathon, as well as a task set and achievement, all carefully tailored to help you ease into the mechanic.

It’s a bit complicated, we know, but our guide should make the process a breeze.

How to unlock map to map travel in all raids in Escape from Tarkov

Initially, you can only travel between maps in the Marathon raid mode , which is a PvP event intended to introduce the new mechanic to you. You can load into a Marathon session from the raid select screen. Map to map travel in all raid modes will unlock after the Marathon event concludes , but Battlestate Games is yet to announce its end date.

Sightseeing task in Escape from Tarkov

When you load into a Marathon raid, you unlock the Sightseeing task, and Skier gives you a number of MS2000 Markers . Plant one at every transit location to complete the task.

While playing the Marathon event in Escape from Tarkov , you start from the Ground Zero map. The transit zones unlock seven minutes after the raid starts .

Once the zones are enabled, find the transit location to the next area , Streets of Tarkov, and use it to travel—and so on for other areas. At the time of writing, you can only move from one map to another in a particular order , which is:

  • Ground Zero
  • Streets of Tarkov

So, you can travel from Factory to Woods, but you can’t transition from Factory to Lighthouse.

Player holding a MS2000 Marker to plant in Escape from Tarkov

You have to mark nine passages to complete the Sightseeing task, earn the achievement, and unlock map to map travel in Escape from Tarkov . Here’s a list of all the objectives in the task:

  • Mark the passage to Streets of Tarkov with an MS2000 Marker on Ground Zero
  • Mark the passage to Interchange with an MS2000 Marker on Streets of Tarkov
  • Mark the passage to The Lab with an MS2000 Marker on Streets of Tarkov
  • Mark the passage to Streets of Tarkov with an MS2000 Marker on The Lab
  • Mark the passage to Customs with an MS2000 Marker on Interchange
  • Mark the passage to Factory with an MS2000 Marker on Customs
  • Mark the passage to Woods with an MS2000 Marker on Factory
  • Mark the passage to Reserve with an MS2000 Marker on Woods
  • Mark the passage to Lighthouse with an MS2000 Marker on Reserve
  • Mark the passage to Shoreline with an MS2000 Marker on Lighthouse

Transit directions are marked with a dotted line on the map, so you shouldn’t have much trouble locating the zones. You should see the option to “Plant” a marker when you reach the passage. After you successfully plant a marker, you have to defend the objective for 19 seconds for it to be marked complete.

Transit directions for map to map travel in Escape from Tarkov.

You don’t have to plant all markers in one Marathon raid for the objectives to be marked complete, but you get the Marathon achievement if you manage to hit that feat.

How to travel between maps in Escape from Tarkov

You should be able to travel between maps in all Escape from Tarkov raids after the Marathon event ends, as mentioned in the patch notes. The rules of map to map traveling are simple: Visit the transit zone, pull out the context menu, and choose to transition to the next area .

Like you learned in the Marathon event, transit zones are enabled seven minutes into a raid. You can raid all you want during this time, but ensure your safety too. When you travel to a new location, you can move the items you raided at the previous location to your stash for a certain price .

If you are in a group, you all need to be in the transit zone to move to a different map. You don’t need to be in a group to travel to the next map together; as long as you are in the same transit zone and use it together, everyone should reach the next map at the same time. This means solo players can also join a group and travel between maps together.

Everything you need to know to make your race day less stressful

Lugging luggage through Manhattan

How To Travel For A Marathon

How often have you actually woken up in your own bed the morning before a race? Unless you’re a hometown hero, returning to your local marathon year after year, you’re probably traveling a decent distance for the chance to run 26.2 miles.

As the popularity of road running increases, so does the number of people traveling for a race: Between 1986 and 2019, the percentage of people traveling to a different country has increased by 3.3% for marathons and by 1.8% for half marathons, according to a report from World Athletics and RunRepeat.com . Meanwhile, Strava reported that in 2022 the share of athletes uploading activities outside their home country was up 101% over 2021.

However, running away from the comforts of home comes with the risk of jet lag, stomach issues, and all kinds of unanticipated stressors that could derail your actual race experience. Travel smart with these tips to help maximize your performance and vacation.

Sometimes you gotta pack all the things ( Ortlieb 11oL Duffle RS )

Sneaking in just under the weight limit

Jumping into a 5K or 10K on vacation doesn’t take much preparation, but when you’re traveling for a half marathon or marathon, a little planning can go a long way. Try to anticipate any problems that could disrupt your pre-race zen: Pick a hotel near the start line or a major transportation hub to eliminate extra steps on race morning; make a rez well in advance for your race eve pasta feast; research breakfast options at or near your hotel for race morning.

If you’re not familiar with the area, hit up a local run club for recs. The goal is to eliminate as much mental stress as possible because your body can’t tell the difference between physical stress and f*ck-I-forgot-pre-race-graham-crackers stress.

Pro tip: If it’s a major race like Boston and you’re traveling with more than one person, make reservations for every night you’re there. We learned this the hard way and ended up walking around for an hour on Friday night, trying to find a spot for our group of five (we never did).

If you’re running a big race, book your hotel as early as possible—like, as soon as your registration is confirmed! Most hotels allow for free cancellation up to 48 hours before check-in, so you might as well secure yourself a spot. Westin kicked off a new partnership this spring with the Abbott World Marathon Majors to support race travel, and Marathon Tours & Travel is a great option for the majors and often offers discounted rates you can’t find anywhere else. This requires extra planning, though, as they typically sell out really fast.

Arrive Early

If you’ve got big goals for a race, build in extra time to get there so your pre-race plans aren’t totally derailed by weather, mechanical failures, or just Southwest being Southwest (if you’re on Spirit, we have no advice, just thoughts and prayers).

Nearly a quarter of domestic flights operated by US airlines experienced delays between January and June 2022, according to data from the US Department of Transportation (JetBlue was one of the biggest offenders, and Chicago’s Midway International Airport, Newark Liberty International Airport, and Baltimore/Washington International Airport were all ranked the worst for on-time departures). And that’s not even counting international travel. If you can swing the cost of an extra hotel night, padding your trip with an additional day on the front end of your trip can help you avoid headaches caused by delays and last-minute expo dashes.

Pro tip: If you have the money or miles, splurge on a premium flight option on the way to your race to prioritize extra shuteye; that’s the kind of investment that’ll pay off on race day. Trust us, there’s a huge difference between flying 14 hours in the middle seat on economy vs. extra legroom and more seat room in business class.

Also, if you’re within a few hours of a race, consider going rail. There’s no TSA, you can carry as much luggage as you want, and there’s way more space to relax and/or get work done.

Travel by train and take as much sh*t as you want

Account For The Jet Lag

Obviously not every pre-race flight has the same brain-frying potential as a jaunt across the world for the Tokyo Marathon , but your body still needs about one full day per time zone crossed in order to reorient its circadian rhythm, according to the American Sleep Association . If you can’t afford to leave that early, you can start shifting your bedtime earlier (if you’re flying east) or later (if you’re flying west) to be closer to the schedule of your destination. Try to book a flight that arrives at either the brightest or darkest time where you’re going, research suggests.

Pro tip: Interrupted sleep—like the half-conscious state you’re generally in on a plane—can actually make daytime sleepiness worse when you land. Use an eye mask and ear plugs to block out all distractions while you’re in the air. And avoid alcohol; even if it seems like a glass of red helps you fall asleep, it will worsen the quality of sleep you get, which is exactly what you don’t want pre-race.

bhs travel marathon

Pack and Overpack

Think about aaaanything you think you might want for race day. Then pack it, no questions asked. The last thing you want to be doing is roaming around London for a duplicate of your favorite rain shell because the forecast was calling for sun when you packed a week before race day.

Most importantly, pack anything race-day related in your carry-on: carbon-plated shoes, gels, other race day fuel, lucky socks, etc. In January 2023 alone, the top 10 US carriers “mishandled” (i.e. lost) more than 267,180 checked bags, according to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics’ monthly Air Travel Consumer Report . And you know the average TSA agent doesn’t give a crap that you paid $3.50 per Maurten.

Pro tip: Use a dry bag (or something like this Nike shoe carrier ) for carrying your shoes while traveling. You can clip it onto the outside of your personal item with a carabiner, and it will keep odor locked inside on the return trip home. Anyone who’s had a rainy or muddy race knows what we’re talking about.

Gear tip:   If you’re not using packing cubes, you’re doing it all wrong. In addition to saving space, packing cubes keep your different clothing types in order and make life a hundred times simpler when unpacking and packing. Simple is good, especially during race week. We love this set from Eagle Creek; they’re extremely durable and—unlike cheaper options—the zippers won’t break, and seams won’t come undone, even over years of use.

bhs travel marathon

Don’t forget to pack a good walking or recovery shoe (like the On Cloudsurfer )

Overhydrate

Feel like a dried-out husk of a human by the time you land? Most airlines keep cabin humidity levels somewhere between 20 to 30%, well below what’s needed for normal functioning. You’re basically traveling in an air desert. As such, you actually lose about eight ounces of water per hour (mostly from breathing), according to the Aerospace Medical Association , and long flights cause changes to blood viscosity (or how easily your blood flows), which may also speed up dehydration, a 2020 review in the journal Nutrients found.

Aim to drink eight ounces per hour on longer flights to offset the effects of dehydration, which has been shown to impair endurance exercise performance. Don’t forget electrolytes en route, either: Electrolyte beverages were more effective than mineral water for hydration on a flight, one study reported.

Pro tip: That blood in your body wants to move, so be sure to get up and stretch (think: squats, hip circles, and calf stretches), even if it means annoying the people on the outside of your row. Compression sleeves—like these from CEP —can also aid in blood circulation to keep your body feeling fresh.

Gear tip: Pack some Skratch! The Skratch Labs wellness hydration drink mix has 710 mg of sodium for the super salty sweaters. Their clear hydration drink mix offers 210 mg of sodium for those who don’t need quite as much but still want to replenish electrolytes. And they’re all available in travel-size packets!

Front-load Your Travel With The Race

No one wants to roam around Paris for the better part of a week and then have to run a marathon on cobblestoned streets. If you do arrive at a destination early, whether it’s because the mid-week flight was cheaper or you’re trying to outsmart jet lag, don’t wear out your legs sightseeing (think: a river tour down the Spree in Berlin versus meandering through the Tiergarten for hours). Opt for low-key activities that won’t overtax your body, and get any overstimulating requirements, like picking up your race bib or browsing all the running brand pop-ups in Boston, out of the way early.

We also can’t stress this enough–  do not book your return flight within six hours of your finish time. So many things can go awry on race day and we’ve heard plenty of horror stories of runners bonking on the course on a bad day, waiting in an hour-long line at gear check, scrambling for an Uber and not finding one, getting stuck in traffic, etc. Nobody wants that stress on a normal day, and especially not on a race day. Post-race, you can go all in on exploring and enjoying your destination—that’s when the vacation starts.

Pro tip: Make a reservation at a restaurant close to the finish line for post-race drinks and food. We found a spot right outside the finish area in Boston, and it made it so easy for the runners to roll in as they finished (and, if they had their phones, pre-order a drink or food!). There’s nothing worse than wandering aimlessly around a new city on marathon legs as you try to sync up with your supporters and find a spot that can serve you all.

Gear tip: Get yourself a good day pack for travel. Our favorites are the Ortlieb Metrosphere 21L waterproof pack or the Cotopaxi Moda 20L pack– both great options with a quick-access top and just enough space for a day’s worth of supplies, including a laptop compartment. For even less encumbrance, go with the Janji Multipass slingbag– perfect for run commutes or holding just enough essentials for a traipse around the city.

This is great! I have a master packing list in Trello since 95% of the races I run I have to travel. I leave room for the travel details and have checklists for carb loading, race stuff and recovery gear I can reuse when planning each race/trip. I like to book a hotel with kitchen + laundry and ALWAYS with a start line shuttle option. Remove the extra stress bc race day is enough for the nerves! Plus feels like a nice something to look forward to after all the training 🙂

Love it, great tips!

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

These are the terms and conditions under which Destination Marathons, LLC. (hereinafter “DM”) offers and operates its running trips/tours. By registering and paying your deposit for a trip, you confirm that you have read, understand and agree to these Terms & Conditions, which you acknowledge constitute a legally binding obligation. Accordingly, please read these terms carefully before making a deposit or payment for a trip.

Participants acknowledge they must be in good health and able to endure the physical demands commensurate the activity they are registering for. Please consult your physician if there is any question of physical fitness. It is your responsibility to assess the risks and requirements of each aspect of the trip based on your own circumstances, limitations, fitness level and medical requirements.

If you participate in activities during your itinerary, including road racing and pre and post runs, certain risks and dangers may arise, including, but not limited to, personal injury and death. BY AGREEING TO THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS, YOU hereby expressly assume all of these risks and dangers, and you hereby expressly agree to forever release, discharge and hold DM and our agents, employees, officers and directors, harmless against any and all liability, actions, causes of actions, suits, claims and demands of any and every kind and nature whatsoever which you now have or which may hereafter arise out of or in connection with your booking or participation in any activities in which you participate.

You consent and grant full permission and royalty-free license to DM to use your likeness in all media including photographs, pictures, recordings, or other record of this event for any legitimate purpose.

You consent and grant full permission for DM to email you with specific information relating to this trip package. You will also be enrolled in communications regarding other DM packages and releases, and have the option to opt out of those specific messages by contacting DM directly.

While we will endeavor to operate all trips as advertised or quoted, reasonable changes in your itinerary may be made by DM where it is deemed necessary or advisable by us. If DM is prevented (directly or indirectly) from performing any of its obligations under this agreement by reason of force majeure (which shall include, an Act of God, weather conditions, natural disasters, pandemics, strikes, trade disputes, fire, breakdowns, weather conditions, acts of omissions of a third party, or any other cause whatsoever outside DM’s reasonable control), then DM may, in its sole and absolute discretion, cancel all or part of any trip. In any situation of force majeure, DM shall not be deemed to be in breach of their duties or otherwise liable to you, whether for reason of delay in performance or non-performance. I understand that if a case of force majeure arises that no refund of my travel expenses, including, but not limited to non-refundable airfare, or entry fees will be reimbursed. Based on the above, DM strongly recommends trip cancellation, baggage, health and accident insurance for all participants. Residents from outside the U.S. must check within your country for insurance coverage.

The price of the DM package does not include personal travel insurance. DM highly advises you to consider obtaining travel insurance. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have adequate insurance coverage for the entire duration of the trip, including incidents such as illness, injury, death, loss of baggage and personal belongings, trip cancellation or interruption, and any activities you plan to participate in. If you have any inquiries regarding travel insurance and its coverage, please contact a travel insurance company directly. You bear full responsibility for any financial losses related to your travel arrangements. DM is not accountable for any travel expenses or other costs incurred by you or any other individuals associated with your travel.

DM contracts with a network of companies and individuals to assist in the running of our trips, including, but not limited to hotel and transportation services. Because DM does not maintain any control over the personnel, equipment, or operations of these suppliers, we assume no responsibility for and cannot be held liable for any personal injury, death, property damage, or other loss, accident, delay, inconvenience, or irregularity which may be occasioned by reason of (1) any wrongful, negligent, willful, or unauthorized acts or omissions on the part of any of the tour suppliers, or other employees or agents, (2) any defect in or failure of any vehicle, equipment, instrument owned, operated or otherwise by any of these suppliers, or (3) any wrongful, willful, or negligent act or omissions on any part of any other party not under the supervision or control of DM.

Airfare is not included in any DM travel packages. It is your responsibility to book your own transit to the destination city. Transit to the hotel is not included in any DM travel packages, unless otherwise specified in the package description.

DM accepts credit card transactions including Visa, Mastercard, and American Express. For some packages, DM will also accept ACH electronic transfer, or money order, made payable to Destination Marathons, LLC. If you select to pay for your package in full, you will receive an invoice with a zero ($0) balance and invoice number reference. Please keep this invoice number for reference as we may require you to confirm your booking details, login to obtain your race bib, or other details relating to your trip. If you select to pay a deposit for your package only, you will receive an invoice with information to make additional payments on your reservation. It is your responsibility to manage your manual payments before payment deadlines, or enroll in auto-payments when available, to ensure you complete payments before a payment deadline. Package payments not completed by the deadline are subject to cancellation.

DM contracts with hotels for a block of rooms including types of rooms (single beds such as king or queen; and double beds, such as two twins or two queens). We make note of your requested room type during your reservation booking. However, room availability is based on hotel inventory at time of check in. DM may need to adjust your room type to accommodate rooms available. If we must change your room type, we will provide a complimentary change, or refund the difference for a reduced room type.

All guests traveling with DM are registered with our hotel room block. If a registered DM guest attempts to accommodate an unregistered individual in their hotel room or extend an invitation for them to partake in any DM organized events, the registered DM guest shall relinquish their tour package privileges, and both parties may be refused entry to subsequent tours.

DM package pricing is offered at current rates, taxes, tariffs, and conditions by our contracts and other service providers. All pricing is subject to currency exchange fluctuations. DM may change package pricing at any time until packages are sold out. All pricing is quoted and transacted in United States dollars.

For guests traveling internationally with DM, it is mandatory to possess a valid passport. Some countries require that the passport remains valid for a minimum of six (6) months beyond the date of return to the United States. Additionally, certain destinations may impose visa requirements that must be fulfilled before traveling. We advise you to consult the website of the U.S. Department of State to stay updated on the most recent passport and visa regulations. It is your responsibility to ensure that all essential travel documents are up-to-date and valid, and to arrange any necessary documentation for entry into your travel destination(s). This includes acquiring any required vaccinations, travel visas, or fulfilling any other prerequisites.

DM reserves the right to decline a guest reservation request for any reason. Should your reservation request be declined, the full registration fee (including the non-refundable initial deposit) will be refunded to you.

DM, and the service providers it contracts with, reserve the right to refuse service to guests at their sole discretion including, and without limitation, if the guest: (i) lacks proper documentation for the country or destination, (ii) has a contagious disease, (iii) is under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or narcotics, and/or (iv) manifests disruptive and/or unruly behavior. DM assumes no liability for the acts of the service providers in refusing service to guests. DM reserves the right to refuse service to guests and/or cease continuation of services to guests for the remainder of the trip without providing any refund.

By using our services, you acknowledge and agree that you will not engage in any attempts to evade, avoid, or bypass any refund restrictions associated with your purchased travel booking. This includes refraining from contacting our company directly in an effort to obtain a refund, or seeking a “chargeback” from your credit card company. Once initial travel is booked, we will refrain from altering payment methods or generating different invoices, as doing so could potentially modify the information required by travel insurance companies.

The right is reserved to cancel the tour for any reason anytime. If we cancel a tour, our liability is limited to a full refund of your payments to us and we will not be liable for any other costs, damages or refunds of any kind for any loss, delay, inconvenience, incidental, consequential, disappointment or expense whatsoever in such circumstances.

If the event is cancelled by race officials, runners can*:

  • Request a full refund of the amount paid in writing to [email protected]
  • Transfer payments made to a future Destination Marathons race package, including the non-refundable deposit. The new package must be reserved within 12 months and traveled within 24 months of cancellation date.

If the event is postponed by race officials to a later date, runners can*:

  • Transfer your reservation (at the same package rate) to the new race date

If the event is turned into a virtual event by race officials, our package will be considered null and void.  Runners can*:

*We kindly ask that you notify Destination Marathons of your decision within 10 days of the race official announcement.

*Running is a sport that may cause injury during training. Injuries do not exempt you from the cancellation policy. We strongly encourage guests to consider travel insurance.

Please visit the payment policy tab for deadlines.

1. By purchasing this package, I acknowledge the contagious nature of COVID-19 and voluntarily assume the risk that I may be exposed to or infected by COVID -19 by participation; and that such exposure or infection may result in personal injury, illness, permanent disability, and death. 2. 1. How to Travel from Map to Map in Escape from Tarkov

The Marathon group mechanics are the following: Players can only use the transit if all living members are in the transit zone.
