Alicia Erickson

Can you go on a safari from Cape Town? It’s a question often asked by travellers planning a trip to the Mother City. Happily, the answer is 'Yes indeed', and while the Western Cape isn't quite in the same league as a bushveld escape to the Kruger National Park, you can certainly enjoy a taste of safari close to Cape Town.

Just a short drive from Cape Town you can spot the 'Big Five' (lion, leopard, rhino, elephant and African buffalo) roaming the veld, learn about conservation efforts and spot whales breaching offshore. For those wanting to take a walk on the wild side, here are the best lodges and reserves for a safari day trip from Cape Town.

Aquila Private Game Reserve

At just over two hour's drive from the city, Aquila Private Game Reserve has earned a name for itself as a top safari experience near Cape Town. Whether you opt for a day trip or book a couple of nights, you can take a traditional safari in an off-road vehicle or choose to search for the Big Five from a quad-bike. While sightings of lion, rhino, elephant and buffalo are all but guaranteed, you'll be extremely lucky to spot the elusive Cape mountain leopard. After a day of wildlife thrills, soak in the infinity pool, refuel with some traditional South African cuisine or treat yourself to a spa afternoon. Accommodation ranges from rustic digs to plush cottages.

2.  Inverdoorn Game Reserve

Inverdoorn Game Reserve

A Big Five game reserve located around a two-and-a-half-hour drive from Cape Town, Inverdoorn Game Reserve is a wild escape into the arid plains of the vast, desert-like Karoo region. A home to lions, elephants, giraffe, zebras, hippos and wildebeest, Inverdoorn also hosts a cheetah rescue and rehabilitation centre. This conservation-focused establishment offers an opportunity to disconnect in the wilderness while searching for some of South Africa’s most exciting creatures. Rest your head in cosy, tented camps and relax in a pool with views over the veld and golden mountains on the horizon.

3.  Melozhori Private Game Reserve

Melozhori Private Game Reserve

This 2300-hectare predator-free wilderness is two hours from Cape Town, just off the highway to the ever-popular garden Route. Offering a choice of exclusive-use accommodation options, choose between contemporary pod houses to luxury treehouses offering idyllic romantic hideaways. The Lodge is a more lavish and exclusive option offering four expansive suites and a fully-catered experience.

Wherever you choose to stay, spend your days exploring Melozhori Private Game Reserve at your leisure. Because it’s predator-free – although elusive Cape leopards have been captured by camera traps here – you can hike, bike and walk in safety, while keeping an eye out for the 129 bird species and 38 species of game that call the reserve home. In the evening, you might be lucky enough to spot black-backed jackal and bat-eared foxes. If you’d rather not go it alone, guided nature drives are available.

4.  !Khwa ttu San Heritage Centre

!Khwa ttu San Heritage Centre

Less than an hour from Cape Town along the R27 ‘West Coast’ road, the !Khwa ttu San Heritage Centre offers a fascinating insight into the history and culture of the San people of southern Africa, and the recent addition of luxury cottages and cabins has made it a perfect weekend escape.

But alongside the cultural insights you can also enjoy a ‘safari-lite’ experience here, with the 850-hectare reserve home to herds of eland, springbok, zebra, wildebeest and other small game. There’s plenty of birdlife too – keep a keen eye out for Yellow-billed kites and Jackal buzzards – and with no predators on the reserve you can happily hike, bike and run without worrying about toothy residents. Just keep an eye out for snakes. Or sign up for the 90-minute nature drives led by local guides, who will share the history of the reserve on an entertaining ramble that delivers superb views of the wild west coast.

5.  Sanbona Wildlife Reserve

Sanbona Wildlife Reserve

Stretching across 58 000 hectares, Sanbona Wildlife Reserve is a pristine and unparalleled experience in the South African wilderness. A three-and-a-half-hour drive from Cape Town – taking in the stunning scenery of the R62 tourist route along the way – will get you to Sanbona, situated in the rugged and beautiful valley of the Little Karoo, just outside Montagu. Treat yourself to a weekend of wildlife viewings rooted in conservation, while unwinding in luxury safari tents or manor houses among the still plains. Elephants, lions and giraffes are all in the mix when you’re on a nature walk or a safari drive through the rolling hills and dramatic rock formations. If you fancy tracking down some visual wonders that are even easier to locate, the stargazing here is also pretty spectacular.

6.  Gondwana Private Game Reserve

Gondwana Private Game Reserve

Situated along the Garden Route in Mossel Bay, Gondwana Private Game Reserve is a little further from Cape Town (a four-and-a-half-hour drive), but certainly worth the journey if time is on your side. Eco-friendly camps and villas ooze luxury safari aesthetic, while also blending into the fybos-clad hills. From spotting elephants wandering the reserve and lions napping in the sun to learning about the native fynbos species and searching for sunbirds, falcons and cranes on a bird-centric safari, a weekend at Gondwana promises to be a wild ride.

7.  Nuwejaars Wetlands

Nuwejaars Wetlands

No visit to the Western Cape is complete without a trip to Cape Agulhas, the southern tip of Africa. And on the Agulhas Plains hardy winemakers make full use of the ancient soils and cooling sea winds to craft remarkable Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah and Pinot Noir. But after a tasting at Black Oystercatcher Wines, be sure to book a guided nature drive through the nearby Nuwejaars Wetlands .

This remarkable conservation project has seen 25 landowners, and the historic mission village of Elim, work together to conserve over 46 000 hectares of delicate wetlands in the region. Guided morning and afternoon nature drives allow travellers to discover this unique conservation area, where you can spot eland, buffalo, bontebok and hartebeest, while the deeper wetlands are home to thriving pods of hippopotamus. Twitcher? The Nuwejaars wetlands are home to more than 200 species, including rare Southern black korhaan and Secretary bird.

8.  Grootbos Private Nature Reserve

Grootbos Private Nature Reserve

Grootbos Private Nature Reserve embodies the meaning of ‘where the mountains meet the sea.’ Throw some forests into the equation, and you’ve got a spectacular eco-reserve. Just over two hours from Cape Town, Grootbos transports its guests deep into nature and offers an experience that’s notably different from a typical safari weekend. 9.  Watch whales in Hermanus

Watch whales in Hermanus

Hermanus is one of the most popular tourist towns in the Western Cape's Overberg region, as famous for its seafront restaurants and clifftop walk as the annual visitors that flock here each winter. Whale watching is what brings the crowds, as Southern Right whales arrive to mate and calve from June through to November. You can spot them from the clifftop paths or join a boat tour and spend a day getting up close to these mighty marine mammals. Kayak tours offer another thrilling opportunity to see whales – and sometimes dolphins and seals – from the water.

10.  Goudkop Bush Camp

Goudkop Bush Camp

This low-key wildlife destination is found two hours north of Cape Town, close to the famous beaches of Elands Bay. Goudkop Bush Camp is a quiet cattle and sheep farm on Skrik van Rondom Farmstall, set in the heart of the Sandveld Nature Reserve. Stay in a thatched roof hut tucked into the slopes of the valley, hike along rocky trails, and look for kudu, eland and zebra and other wildlife on a game drive, or simply unwind and do nothing in this slice of nature. The on-site restaurant and farm shop will keep you happily fed and watered during your stay.

Top Five Game Reserves for Safaris Near Cape Town

safaris close to cape town

Cape Town is known around the world for its stunning scenery, world-class restaurants, and fascinating cultural landmarks (including Robben Island and Bo-Kaap ). However, what many visitors don't know is that the city is also a convenient base for exploring some of the finest game reserves in the Western Cape. If you don't have time to head north to major South African reserves like Kruger or Mkhuze , don't worry; you can also look for safari animals in Cape Town's backyard. All of the reserves listed in this article are within a few hours' drive of the Mother City. They're also malaria -free.

Note: Driving times given below are based on departure from central Cape Town near the V&A Waterfront and may be considerably shorter or longer if you're staying in the suburbs. For the quickest travel times, make sure to plan your journey around off-peak traffic hours.

Buffelsfontein Game Reserve

Although safari purists may balk at the idea of a reserve that keeps its carnivores in separate enclosures, Buffelsfontein Game Reserve is nevertheless the most convenient option for those with limited time to spare. As a 1,600-hectare converted cattle ranch, the park is just over an hour's drive from central Cape Town and is home to four of the Big Five (lion, leopard, buffalo, and white rhino). Guests will also have the opportunity to spot cheetah , giraffe, zebra, and several iconic antelope species on a half or full guided game drive.

The half drive lasts for 1.5 hours, while the full drive takes around three hours and departs at 9 a.m. or 2 p.m. If you book an afternoon full drive on any day except Sunday, you'll also get to see the park's carnivores being fed. For a totally different safari experience, consider booking a mountain bike safari instead. If you do have time to extend your stay, there are a variety of accommodation options, from bush camps and self-catering chalets for budget travelers to more luxurious four-sleeper cottages. There's a restaurant, swimming pool, and bar on-site.

Aquila Private Game Reserve

Located a two-hour drive northeast of Cape Town, Aquila Private Game Reserve  is a 4-star park offering half-day, full-day, and overnight safari options. The 10,000-hectare conservancy is home to the Big Five including rhino, elephant, lion, leopard, and buffalo. All five of these species have been reintroduced to the Western Cape after being driven to the brink of extinction by the big game hunters of the past. The park is also home to the Aquila Animal Rescue and Conservation Centre , which provides a sanctuary for rescued safari animals that are no longer able to survive in the wild.

If the idea of a traditional safari vehicle is a little too tame, consider booking a horse-ride or quad bike safari instead. Although the park is close enough for a day trip from Cape Town, overnight accommodations include a luxury lodge and several exquisite chalets. The chalets offer indoor fireplaces and outdoor showers, allowing you to fully appreciate the magic of life in the bush. Other useful amenities include a bar, a restaurant, an infinity pool, and a spa. Aquila also offers transfers from Cape Town hotels via mini-bus, private vehicle, airplane, or helicopter.

Inverdoorn Game Reserve

Half an hour beyond Aquila Private Game Reserve lies  Inverdoorn Game Reserve , another 10,000-hectare protected area in the Klein Karoo. Inverdoorn achieved Big Five status in 2012 with the introduction of a herd of elephants. It is also home to non-profit organization Western Cape Cheetah Conservation and visitors are given the opportunity to see these magnificent predators up close. Since 2018, the reserve has implemented a strict no-touch policy in accordance with the latest ethical conservation practices.

The park also offers a choice of 4- and 5-star accommodation options. There's a tented camp and a series of well-appointed chalets, while the multiple-room guest houses are perfect for families or friends traveling together. For the last word in luxury, opt for a night in the exquisite Ambassador Suite. Overnight guests are invited to join a walking safari at sunrise, when the animals of the reserve are at their most active. The route to Inverdoorn takes you through the Cape Winelands ; consider stopping for a tasting along the way.

Sanbona Wildlife Reserve

From Cape Town, you can drive to Sanbona Wildlife Reserve in approximately three hours. Nestled at the foot of the Warmwaterberg Mountains, the reserve is a Klein Karoo paradise known for its indigenous wildlife and ancient rock art . Measuring some 54,000 hectares, it is also made special by its vast, sprawling landscapes. You'll find the Big Five here, as well as cheetah and smaller native mammals including the rare riverine rabbit. The wide range of activities on offer include birdwatching, nature walks, rock art tours, and stargazing. Boat safaris on Bellair Dam offer a different game-viewing perspective.

Since game drives take place at sunrise and sunset, most visitors to Sanbona Wildlife Reserve opt to stay overnight. There are three luxury lodges to choose from, including a tented camp with spa baths, private decks, and a fine-dining restaurant. If you want to experience Africa at its most authentic, consider a walking safari with a stay at the back-to-basics Explorer Camp. A kids' program , childminding services, and a dedicated family lodge make this the ideal choice for those traveling with children.

Grootbos Private Nature Reserve

When you've ticked the Big Five off your bucket-list, consider taking a two-hour drive southeast of Cape Town to coastal  Grootbos Private Nature Reserve . Located at the meeting point of the Atlantic and Indian Oceans, the reserve is the ultimate destination for spotting the Marine Big Five: namely, great white sharks, southern right whales, bottlenose dolphins, African penguins, and Cape fur seals. The lodge offers coastal safaris in association with Dyer Island Cruises . Cage diving with great white sharks , whale-watching tours, horse-riding, nature walks, and botanical safaris are also offered.

The reserve, which measures 2,500 hectares, is home to almost 800 different plant species; 100 of which are endangered and six of which were discovered for the first time on site. Its protected milkwood forests are over 1,000 years old. In order to have enough time to explore its wonders, you can stay overnight either at the Garden Lodge, the Forest Lodge, or in a private luxury villa. Each eco-friendly option is designed to complement the reserve's incredible natural beauty. Amenities range from tranquil swimming pools to organic 5-star dining.

Safaris are one of the biggest draws of tours in South Africa . If you are staying in the vibrant city of Cape Town, you might be far away from some of the main wildlife reserves like Kruger National Park, but it doesn’t mean you’ll miss out on safari experiences. During your trip to Cape Town , within a short drive, you can find a wide range of private game reserves, like Aquila Games Reserve and Sanbona Wildlife Reserve. The Big 5 (elephants, lions, rhinos, leopards, and African buffalos) are the creme de la creme of the South African safari world, and you can encounter these amazing animals in a conservation setting. So, with that in mind, let’s dive in and discover the seven best safaris near Cape Town.

This 10,000-hectare reserve is known for its conservation efforts and excellent customer service. Aquila holds nothing back when it comes to its guests. There are three, half-day safaris available every day — early morning, afternoon, sunset, and options for full day tours and overnight packages. Sightings of the Big 5 are possible here, along with giraffes, hippos, antelope, and 170 bird species. Aquila’s main goal is to preserve and protect African wildlife. They have an on-site animal rescue center as well as leopard research facilities.

  • Distance from Cape Town : 2 hours (176km) northeast of Cape Town in the historic town of Touws River. This is a great option for those looking for a day trip only.
  • Accommodation available: 4-star lodge offers standard rooms, family suites, and luxury cottages that include their very own fireplace. A restaurant, spa, infinity pool, wet bar, cigar lounge, and children’s entertainment center are also included.

This reserve offers two safari tours daily, each lasting roughly 2–3 hours. One departs in the early morning and the other in the late afternoon since these are the times the animals are the most active. On the tour, you are likely to spot four out of the Big 5; lions, rhinos, elephants, and buffalos. You can also see giraffes, zebras, various antelope species, and free-roaming cheetahs. Overnight guests are offered sunrise and sunset safaris along with a tour of the reptile center, which houses 28 different snake species, Nile crocodiles, and tortoises.

  • Distance from Cape Town: 3 hours 40 minutes (350km) east of Cape Town in the village of Albertinia. It is possible to do it as a day trip from Cape Town, but staying the night is probably more comfortable.
  • Accommodation available: Room options in the 3-star lodge range from standard rooms to family and luxury suites to honeymoon chalets. A full restaurant with terrace dining is on site.
  • Other activities: Families traveling with kids will love the 'Kids on Safari' option, which allows children to explore and learn about the reserve under the guidance and supervision of a field ranger. Bird fanatics will enjoy watching over 50 species of rare and native birds throughout the reserve. There is also a spa and pool at the lodge that’s perfect for unwinding after a long day of safari.

3. Inverdoorn Game Reserve

As a self-proclaimed “luxury” safari, Inverdoorn may not be the cheapest on the list, but it’s certainly one of the most catered and comfortable. The reserve sits on 10,000 hectares in the arid Klein Karoo region. The grounds teem with birds and wildlife, including the Big 5, giraffes, zebras, hippos, impalas, springboks, and more. Inversdoorn is one of the most popular safaris near Cape Town due to the high level of service provided by the staff and its proximity to the city.

Inverdoorn goes to great lengths to protect and preserve the animals that call their reserve home. RhinoProtect, a pricey security and research program specifically designed for the reserve’s resident rhinos, goes above and beyond to keep the animals safe from poachers. The Cheetah Sanctuary is another highlight. Visitors can view the fastest animals on earth partaking in running exercises that ready them for their release into their natural environment on the reserve.

  • Distance from Cape Town: 2 hours 30 minutes (200km) northeast of Cape Town in Breede River.
  • Accommodation available: The 3-star Izibi Safari Lodge has stylish guest houses, up-scale chalets, and posh suites. Relaxation is the name of the game here, and it features first-class culinary dining and poolside lounging.
  • Other activities: 2-day one-night safaris, private safaris, sunrise/sunset safaris, walk with giraffes, cheetah encounters, cheetah runs.

4. Sanbona Wildlife Reserve

Sanbona is the biggest reserve on the list, with 58,000 sprawling hectares. Situated at the foot of the Warmwaterberg Mountains, the impressive landscape and some unique and rare wildlife are what sets Sanbona apart from the others. Another unique selling point is the ancient rock art that can be viewed in the reserve. Dating back 3,500 years, the fascinating drawings depict the rituals and spiritual beliefs of the ancient tribes, the San and the Khoi-Khoi.

Safaris take place at sunrise and sunset and last for roughly 3 hours. Visitors can experience multiple landscapes and habitats as well as the chance to see the Big 5, iconic white lions, cheetahs, and rare riverine rabbits. Sanbona also offers boat safaris, creating a new and innovative way to tour the reserve.

  • Distance from Cape Town: 3 hours 15 minutes (256km) east of Cape Town in the town of Montagu. The establishment doesn't entertain day trips due to the sheer size of the reserve. Hence, spending the night is mandatory.
  • Accommodation available: Environmentally-friendly 5-star accommodation in the form of luxury tented lodges with private spa baths. Or book an entire manor complete with a private bar, pool, and bathrooms.
  • Other activities: Birdwatching, walking and hiking trails, rock art tours, and one of the best stargazing in South Africa. For those traveling with children, there’s a kids program that caters to little ones’ interests while educating them on the importance of conservation.

Guests at Sanbona experience wildlife at the reserve watching a giraffe.

5. Fairy Glen Private Game Reserve

Claiming to be the closest Big 5 safari to Cape Town, this reserve does a lot of business with day-tripping tourists. While it’s true the Big 5 do call this reserve home, even the reserve admits that spotting a leopard is a rare occurrence. Located at the foot of the Brandwacht Mountains, surrounded by vegetation, fauna, and flora, Fairy Glen is rugged, natural, and full of wildlife. You will feel days away from the big city even though the reserve is roughly an hour away from Cape Town.

This game reserve in the Western Cape offers half-day safaris (with or without transportation from Cape Town) as well as overnight safari options. The tours can be conducted by vehicle or on horseback. A nature walk to the Brandwacht Dam is included in the overnight safaris, and there is a chance to see 250 bird species.

  • Distance from Cape Town: 1 hour 20 minutes (113km) from Cape Town in the town of Worchester. This is the closest day-trip option on our list.
  • Accommodation available: Overnight safari guests have the option to stay in either the standard or luxury chalets. Bar and Braai (BBQ) facilities and an outdoor pool are included with the accommodation.
  • Other activities: Hiking trails.

Best “Big 5 Safaris” With Kids Near Cape Town

safaris close to cape town

When visiting South Africa, a Safari trip to see the Big 5 is almost compulsory! Get close to those beautiful wild animals and experience an unforgettable encounter with elephants, lions, giraffes, rhinos and many more African wildlife. However, flying to the famous Kruger National Park near Johannesburg in the north-east is not always feasible and often requires a bit more budget to reside in one of the game lodges situated in Kruger Park itself. So a safari near Cape Town is not only convenient, but also a relatively affordable alternative.

conservation

Our vision is to play a key role in global cheetah conservation to ensure the survival and sustainability of the species in the wild.

The Inverdoorn Cheetah Conservation programme is based at the Inverdoorn Private Game Reserve – two and a half hours drive from Cape Town. The project was founded in 2001 and have since become a core function within Inverdoorn’s Big 5 safari tourism operation – allowing guest interaction with the animals throughout the safari experience.

safaris close to cape town

Inverdoorn is an upmarket Big 5 safari reserve in the Tankwa Karoo – near Sutherland. The lodge sits on a the vast expanse of 10 000 hectare flat Karoo veld. The reserve has built a solid tourism reputation locally and internally and the original cheetah rehabilitation programme has become synonymous with its business model.

The programme was originally positioned to rehabilitate and connect with cheetahs. Since inception, the programme released seven cheetahs – two of which have been released onto the main Inverdoorn game reserve. Their independent living unfortunately made them kill considerable amounts of wildlife indiscriminately. These individuals died at Inverdoorn due to old age.

Since August 2018, The Aquila Collection has taken over the ownership of Inverdoorn Private game Reserve with very little background information on the programme, together with little facts of the success of these cheetahs. Searl Derman, owner of The Aquila Collection – immediately announced an investigation into the programme – together with NO animal interaction policy updates, effective immediately.

4 South African Safari Destinations You Can Get to from Cape Town

Aquila Private Game Reserve

With the launch of United Airlines’ new direct flight to Cape Town from Newark this December, getting to South Africa’s seaside city is becoming significantly less arduous. Previously, a trip to Cape Town usually involved a layover in Johannesburg , which meant travelers to South Africa would often split their time between Cape Town in the southwest and a safari in the Kruger National Park in the northeast. But just because you can now fly straight to Cape Town doesn’t mean you have to pick between a safari experience and a waterfront one. Travelers who are tight on time and vacation days can find great game-watching near Cape Town , where a number of wildlife and nature reserves offer excellent excursions. Bonus: they’re all malaria-free.

Sanbona Wildlife Reserve

Sanbona Wildlife Reserve , about 3.5 hours from Cape Town, is one of the only reserves in the world where free-roaming white lions can be spotted in the wild, alongside cheetahs, elephants, and zebras. Located in the arid Little Karoo at the base of the Warmwaterberg Mountains, the 143,000-acre reserve has four lodges to choose from (we recommend Dwyka Tented Lodge , a chic tented camp set in a rock amphitheater). With so much open space and so few lodges, Sanbona is the perfect place to disconnect.

Sanbona Wildlife Reserve Dwyka

A view of one of the four camps at Sanbona Wildlife Reserve

Aquila Private Game Reserve

If time is short, Aquila Private Game Reserve , a quick two-hour drive inland from Cape Town, offers visitors half- or full-day safaris. For a better chance of seeing the Big Five (that's lions, leopards, rhinos , elephants, and Cape buffalos), checking in overnight at the unfussy thatched Aquila Lodge is recommended. Visitors can also spend time with rehabilitated animals at the Animal Rescue Centre on the reserve.

Grootbos Private Nature Reserve

At Grootbos Private Nature Reserve, about two hours south along the coast, you won’t see lions or cheetahs. Instead, you’ll be immersed in flora and marine life. Located on 6,200 acres of flawless wilderness that runs along the coast towards Gansbaai, you'll want to spend a day or two here, as opposed to the quick Aquila trip. Guests staying at the reserve’s modern Forest Lodge can spot over 800 types of plant species (like proteas and other fynbos that can be found nowhere else on earth), as well as antelope and whales calving in the nearby bay (whale season is usually from June to November).

Gondwana Private Game Reserve

While Gondwana Private Game Reserve might be further afield (around four hours away from Cape Town), the picturesque drive along the coastal Garden Route is certainly part of the journey. Once there, guests can check into Kwena Lodge , a collection of modern huts, or the solar-powered tented camp , where you can glamp among the fynbos. Safari drives to see the Big Five are a highlight, but other fun activities on offer include mountain biking and hiking.

Sanbona - Safaris near Cape Town

Top 10 safaris near Cape Town

Kruger National Park may be South Africa’s safari poster child but its lodges and surrounding private reserves can sometimes be a bit of a hassle to get to from Cape Town – plus they all require malaria precautions. The good news is that there are plenty of other options for safaris near Cape Town, all easily accessible and in malaria-free regions. Some can be reached by car in a couple of hours, others are a short flight away – but all rival Kruger in their beauty and diversity.

Sanbona Dwyka Tented Camp and Explorer Camp

If you are looking for a great Big Five safari near Cape Town, the Sanbona Wildlife Reserve in the Little Karoo, along Route 62, is the place to go. It’s one of South Africa’s largest privately-owned game reserves and at the Sanbona Dwyka Tented Camp , you’ll find nine secluded tents set in a horseshoe bend of a dry Karoo ravine and embraced by striking rock formations – a nod to the Khoi-San hunter-gatherers who once roamed this land. It’s an impressive setting, with five-star facilities to match – think outdoor showers, private decks with Jacuzzi and spa treatments. Then there are the activities, which include rock art excursions, boat safaris, stargazing, and of course game drives. Adventurous souls may also want to try the Sanbona Explorer Camp – the more basic, seasonal camp operates from October to April and offers guests an authentic walking experience that is as close to nature as you can get.

safaris close to cape town

Bushmans Kloof

Located in the northern Cederberg Mountains , the serenely beautiful Bushmans Kloof is another beautiful option for a safari near Cape Town. A visit to one of its 130 Bushman rock art sites dating back an impressive 10,000 years is a must during your stay, as is a nature drive through this South African Natural Heritage site, which boasts an abundance of indigenous flora and fauna. Returning to the lodge you’ll be spoiled to the hilts with spa treatments, decadent afternoon teas and gourmet cuisine – Bushmans is in fact renowned for its rather magical outdoor dining experiences. If you want to impress your other half (or better yet, are ready to pop the all-important question), make sure to book a romantic private dinner at the secluded Kadoro cottage.

safaris close to cape town

Grootbos Forest Lodge

Forest Lodge is one of three accommodation options at the tranquil Grootbos Private Nature Reserve, overlooking the wide sweep of Walker Bay. Wind your way through an ancient Milkwood forest to get to one of 16 stand-alone brick-and-timber suites where the views are second to none. Whether you lounge in bed, take a bath, or refresh in the outdoor shower on your private deck, the ocean is omnipresent. It might not be the place for Big Five wildlife-watching, but the lodge offers a host of fabulous activities, including coastal and marine safaris, botanical 4×4 tours, horse riding and whale watching. In the evening, a world of flavour awaits in the restaurant with ingredients fresh from the onsite organic farm.

safaris close to cape town

Morukuru Beach Lodge

Hermanus may be South Africa’s most famous whale-watching spot, but it’s worth venturing further to the new and very off-the-grid Morukuru Beach Lodge in the De Hoop Nature Reserve. De Hoop is remote in the very best sense of the word; there are only a handful of luxury lodges, integrated perfectly into an isolated landscape marked by blindingly white sand dunes and the crashing waves of the Indian Ocean. Visit between July and October and you’ll be able to see the migrating Southern Right whales putting on a bit of a show without even having to leave the lodge. Morukuru doesn’t offer a safari in the traditional sense but the whales, nature drives and other activities including sand boarding, marine walks and beach picnics more than hold their own, as do the five enormous suites, boasting a contemporary design with wow factor and awe-inspiring sea or dune views.

safaris close to cape town

Further afield

The above camps are all fantastic options to drive out to from the Mother City but if you’re willing to travel just a little bit further, you’ll find your options expand tenfold! The below camps are all within short flying distance from Cape Town or can be built into a Garden Route road trip.

Eagles Crag Lodge - Safaris near Cape Town

Shamwari Eagles Crag

Eastern Cape

Eagles Crag , one of seven lodges that form part of the Shamwari Game Reserve , is another of the easily accessible safaris near Cape Town. Nine glass and stone suites and a large main area are tucked away into a deep ravine, with uninterrupted views of the surrounding rock faces and soaring eagles. Twice-daily Big Five game drives, guided walks and the opportunity to see the region’s aloe and acacia plants are all part and parcel of a stay here. You can also delve into the area’s wildlife conservation thanks to various facilities at the reserve, including the Ian Player Rhino Awareness Centre, Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre and Born Free Big Cat Sanctuaries. For the ultimate relaxation, the spa awaits with various treatments, a hydro bath, sauna and steam bath.

safaris close to cape town

Gorah Elephant Camp

Set within a 5,000-acre private concession in the Eastern Cape’s Addo Elephant National Park (make it part of your Garden Route itinerary or fly to Port Elizabeth), Gorah epitomises old-world glamour. Home to the densest population of elephants on the planet, you can watch the majestic mammals whilst sipping tea on the veranda of the stately manor house. If you do feel like venturing out to see the likes of lion, rhino and buffalo (as well as more elephant of course), hop on a game drive, walking safari or even a horse ride. Back at the lodge, the 11 tented suites will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time to the 1900s thanks to the sparkling crystal glasses, polished silver and white linen dotted around. And it’s all brought up to date with modern amenities – including the best showers we’ve ever had on safari!

safaris close to cape town

Gondwana Kwena Lodge

Garden Route

As far as safaris near Cape Town are concerned, Gondwana is a great family-friendly option. Kwena Lodge  is one of four accommodation options (the others including a tented eco camp and several private villas). A modern twist on the traditional Khoi-San dwelling, the 14 dome-shaped suites feature 180-degree views, amazing skylights for stargazing and clay pot fireplaces. The infinity pool at the main lodge makes for a refreshing dip and families will be kept entertained on enjoy thrilling game drives. Afterwards, Mum and Dad can head to the spa whilst the little ones are being entertained with the excellent Junior Rangers program. In the evening, everyone converges for a traditional braai at the boma.

safaris close to cape town

Kwandwe Great Fish River Lodge

Located in the Kwandwe Private Game Reserve , Great Fish River Lodge is a great way to end a Garden Route trip . The lodge itself is classic yet contemporary and set along the lush green banks of the river after which it is named. The nine suites let nature flow in thanks to glass doors, outdoor showers and expansive viewing decks with private plunge pools. It’s still worth heading out into the wilderness though as game drives will surely reveal most members of the Big Five – and there’s options of walking safaris and (at an additional cost) tracking and darting expeditions with Rhino Conservation. Back at the lodge, recount the day’s experiences while feasting on African dishes in the boma under a starlit sky.

safaris close to cape town

Tswalu Tarkuni Lodge

Tswalu Kalahari

Thanks to direct flights from Cape Town, a quick safari sojourn to the Tswalu Kalahari private game reserve is now entirely possible – and very worth the trip. A “green” desert, the huge reserve offers semi-arid grassland with open savannahs that are rich in a remarkable range of habitats and apart from big game (including the desert-adapted black rhino) you can also expect to see small mammals such as meerkat, aardvark and pangolin. As for accommodation, choose Tarkuni if you’re travelling in a group or en famille. The exclusive-use lodge offers the ultimate private bush experience with a mere five suites that come with a dedicated chef, private game viewing vehicle, guide and tracker. At the super-chic, designer den Motse Lodge , rooms can be booked individually, and there’s a beautiful sleep-out deck too, The Malori, if you fancy something special.

safaris close to cape town

Samara Karoo Lodge

Encircled by a natural amphitheatre of mountains, Samara Karoo Lodge is a lovingly renovated farmhouse in the Eastern Cape’s Karoo that combines colonial comforts and modern-day luxuries with a rustic and welcoming feel. The nine plush rooms come in various styles and sizes – choose from Lodge Suites within the main Homestead, standalone Karoo Suites, or the Sibella Suites that overlook a waterhole. Antiques, family heirlooms and vintage books make you feel as if you’re staying with a good friend rather than at a lodge and the candlelit, alfresco dinners are perfectly romantic and generally lovely. Samara is renowned for its children programme, but there is plenty for the adults to enjoy, including game drives, walking safaris, wilderness picnics and cheetah tracking – and a Milky Way Star Bed for a dreamy sleep-out experience.

Best Safari Options Near Cape Town

A trip to all the wonders that Cape Town has to offer doesn’t mean turning your back on the chance to safari while in South Africa – one of the best countries in the whole of Africa for viewing the continent’s most iconic species, whatever your budget and however you prefer to holiday.  There are other malaria-free safari options in South Africa if you are willing to travel, but the proximity of some of the safari locations to Cape Town make it more convenient overall.

Just a two-hour drive (or 175 km) from the center of Cape Town, Aquila is one of the closest game reserves to Cape Town, making it a great place to take in the country’s more natural landscapes when holiday time is short. Despite this, you can still be sure of a traditional Big Five experience alongside an infinity pool, restaurant, spa and cigar lounge among other facilities.

AQUILA PRIVATE GAME RESERVE

With a combination of 44 rooms spread over three floors of Aquila Lodge and some more private cottages too, Aquila is far more than merely a breathtaking experience encountering the Big Five close to Cape Town.

The malaria-free reserve includes a newly constructed lodge consisting of 44 spacious double-occupancy rooms. Fully accessible by lift, standard rooms consist of queen-sized beds and en suite bathrooms in a modern chic style. Premier rooms include balconies that look out over the reserve and the magnificent Karoo mountain views, which extend into the bathrooms. Perfect for families or groups, the family suites are connected by a lockable common passageway.

The other accommodation option at Aquila is its luxury cottages. Coming with their a private patio area, they also include a corner bathtub and outdoor rock shower. Located close to the children’s play area are the family luxury cottages, consisting of children’s beds on a mezzanine floor which overlooks the main bedroom. For a little more privacy, the reserve also includes premier luxury cottages, located on the hillside above the main lodge.

Sanbona Game Reserve

Slightly further from Cape Town than Aquila at three hours and 15 minutes (256 km) by road, Sanbona in made up of environmentally-friendly five-star accommodation in luxury tented lodges with private spa baths, as well as a manor consisting of a private bar, swimming pool, and his and her bathrooms. The largest game reserve reachable from Cape Town, it includes a staggering 58,000 hectares. But what sets Sanbona apart from other reserves is its location among the beauty of the Warmwaterberg Mountains.

SANBONA Game Reserve

Situated in the arid Warmwaterberg Mountains of the Klein Karoo region, Sanbona is not only luxurious in its accommodation options, but also environmentally-friendly. One of the largest wildlife conservancies reachable from Cape Town by road, the 58,000-hectare estate is home to many of Africa’s most iconic species, from lion and elephant to rhino and giraffe.

Tilney Manor sits in an oasis of carefully designed indigenous planting and offers those looking for tranquillity the perfect combination of privacy and facilities. Dwyka tented lodge, meanwhile, more closely represents secluded luxury than a campsite, with a handful of large wood and canvas buildings in a stunning horseshoe ravine. For a little more adventure, there’s also the seasonal Sanbona Explorer Camp, of more basic tented accommodation.

Inverdoorn Game Reserve

Inverdoorn is located two and a half hours (200 km) from Cape Town, in the Klein Karoo region. Its Kuganha tented camp comprises just three 66 m 2 luxury tents with sides that can be opened out to take full advantage of the incredible surrounding landscape. The room includes a dedicated area in which to relax, as well as a deck with a private plunge pool.

The reserve also contains four Ambassador chalets and seven Tankwa chalets. Staying at one of the Ambassador chalets entitles guests to access a communal roof terrace and private patio area, in addition to satellite television, air conditioning, and luxurious ensuite facilities with corner baths. The Tankwa chalets come with the addition of a veranda overlooking the garden, and wood-burning fireplaces in addition to air conditioning.

Finally, there are also lodge rooms. These come with a fireplace, veranda, television, and modern bathroom with a stand-alone shower.

Fairy Glen Private Game Reserve

Another reserve worth considering if time is short, Fairy Glen is around an hour and twenty minutes (110 km) from Cape Town. The reserve consists of five luxury chalets (one of which is wheelchair accessible) and six standard chalets.

The luxury chalets have a pared back design, with lounge area and kitchen, bathroom and shower. The double bed and two single beds in two of the chalets make it great for families, while the single bed/sleeper couch combinations of the others make it a good option for groups of friends.

The standard chalets sleep a mix of two to four people, in a combination of double and single beds. While they include an en-suite bathroom with bath and shower, they do not enjoy the kitchen facilities of the luxury chalets.

Are Safaris Near Cape Town Good?

Why safari near cape town.

Opting to safari near Cape Town first and foremost means the ability to combine the incredible sights the city has to offer, and visits to its the nearby Cape Winelands , with the opportunity to gaze upon some of the world’s most awe-inspiring wildlife spectacles while minimizing the amount of travel necessary.

This gives Cape Town’s game reserves a considerable advantage over other family-orientated safari destinations, and for those looking to minimize air travel. These reserves also act as a fantastic introduction to safari holidays, almost guaranteeing animal sightings, although they are perhaps less impressive for a seasoned safari goer used to more substantial unfenced reserves and national parks.

Why not safari near Cape Town

Located in the arid Karoo region that surrounds Cape Town, the dry terrain of the city’s game reserves can support species such as impala and oryx, that are happier in drier conditions but struggle to support large populations of big game species without the need of add supplemental food for species including elephant.

The game reserves we mention are also quite small when compared to the likes of Madikwe Game Reserve in South Africa’s far north, or Greater Kruger National Park, which includes the unfenced private reserves of those including the Sabi Sand . While this can be a positive in respect to animal sightings, it can limit the feeling of true wilderness for some holidaymakers.

How much does a safari near Cape Town cost?

Accommodation in game reserves is priced on a per person sharing basis, meaning if two people are sharing a double occupancy room they must both pay the quoted per person sharing the cost. In other words, a double occupancy room will cost twice the quoted per person price. If an individual occupies a room intended for two, they will have to pay a singles supplement, which is usually more than the double occupancy per person sharing price.

Safaris near Cape Town start at R1800 ($130) per person sharing per night, to R2500 ($180) at the height of the December/January high season, for a standard room. The top safari locations in this region can cost anywhere in the region of R8000 ($575).

Safari on a day trip from Cape Town

With an early start, a safari is certainly possible as a day trip from Cape Town, especially if using your own road transportation and opting for one of the nearer game reserves we have recommended. When considering whether a day trip is worth it, bear in mind animals are at their most active at dusk and dawn, which might make staying for at least one night a better option overall.

Some of the game reserves, including Aquila, also offer standard and private transfers for an additional cost, removing the stress of traveling on unfamiliar roads. On arrival at the reserves, guests transfer to open-sided all-terrain vehicles to maximize the safari experience.

Safaris with kids

Children adore Africa’s animal life. However, it’s important to realize not every child will have the attention span to undertake a long game drive or safari holiday. Going on safari near Cape Town is excellent because it means you can mix up various activities (both while on safari and while in Cape Town) so that no one in the family gets bored or feels ignored.

Another thing to consider is how well your children travel. If they’re not great road travelers, then one of the nearer game reserves is the right choice. Family lodges rather than standard rooms are also useful, ensuring you can enjoy your time on safari as a family. Having access to your own vehicle means you can head back to the city whenever your children have had enough.

Best time to safari near Cape Town

The best time to plan a trip to Cape Town is almost certainly between late January and late April. Coming at the end of South Africa’s summer, these months offer warm, clear days. However, thanks to its mild climate and temperate conditions, its also possible to visit Cape Town earlier, from October to January, extending the period when its possible to safari nearby. In contrast, the best time to visit Kruger National Park would be during the region’s dry season from late April until September, with the middle months being the hottest temperature wise.

Aquila Game Reserve, Cape Town

Aquila Game Reserve Safari Reviews

Aquila Game Reserve has a 3.5-star rating on Tripadvisor based on over 965 reviews.

Even though Aquila is lauded for its excellent service and sustainability (social responsibility, wildlife conservation, and energy efficiency) some visitors rate it poorly. Many visitors who rate Aquila poorly say the game reserve is too much like a zoo. It is important to note that this is a relatively small game reserve.

If you expect the quintessential rolling grasslands of Serengeti or Masai Mara when you visit Aquila Game Reserve, you are set for disappointment.

The game reserve is ideal for first-time safari-goers, travellers with limited time, and budget travellers who want to see African animals in the bush, instead of in zoo cages.

2. Inverdoorn Game Reserve

Inverdoorn is an excellent Big 5 safari option for two reasons: the proximity of the game reserve to Cape Town and its relatively large size. The 2.5-to-3-hour drive from Cape Town makes Inverdoorn Game Reserve easily accessible for an overnight safari or weekend getaway.

Safari activities at Inverdoorn Game Reserve include morning and afternoon 4x4 game drives, guided bush walks with giraffes (depending on conditions), visits to the Cheetah Rescue and  Rehabilitation Centre (no animal interactions allowed), and stargazing in the Klein Karoo.

For families with young children, Inverdoorn offers babysitting services and welcomes guests with kids at their 4-star lodges. Children over the age of 4 years are allowed on game drives.

Inverdoorn Game Reserve is not open to day visitors and self-drive safaris are not permitted. This limits your options somewhat but it also makes the safari experience in Inverdoorn more exclusive and crowd-free.

For this reason, Inverdoorn does not offer the cheapest Cape Town safaris, but the quality of your Big 5 safari experience in Inverdoorn Game Reserve is worth the little extra spend.

The Cape Town Safari Experience

Cape Town is in the Western Cape Province of South Africa, with the Atlantic Ocean along the western shoreline and the Indian Ocean to the east. The climate is distinctly Mediterranean and the region is home to the unique fynbos biome which boasts incredible biodiversity found nowhere else in the world.

Whilst spectacular in its own right, the Cape Peninsula is very different from the typical African savannah that your average lion inhabits. The Western Cape of South Africa is better known for its rich marine life and fynbos. This coastal region (in and around Cape Town) is a global hotspot for viewing the  Marine Big 5 animals  (whale, shark, seal, penguin, and dolphin) in the wild. The Western Cape is also home to over 500 species of birds, including 42 of South Africa's 53 endemic bird species.

That said, you now know where the best Big 5 game reserves in the Western Cape, not far from Cape Town, are to be found.

Best Time to Go on Safari in Cape Town

There is no best time of year to go on a South African safari, however, there are times of year to suit everyone’s preferences. Cape Town summer takes place between November and February. During this time it gets very hot during the day – this often means that the animals sleep during the sweltering days. During winter it tends to be cold but it’s easy enough to keep warm during the day.

When going on safari tours, we always recommend going in the early morning or in the evening. This is when you can expect to see most animal activity.

The 28,000 hectare reserve is teeming with life and offers plenty of opportunities to spot the many animals that call it home, while taking an optional 2-3 hour drive. The tour concludes with a drop off in Port Elizabeth at a location of your choice.

6-Day Garden Route and Addo Safari (Return)

A little bit daring and a whole lot more relaxing, this popular return tour from Cape Town covers all the highlights of the garden route and beyond.

Day 1 Leave Cape Town in the rearview mirror and head towards Hermanus, the whale watching capital of South Africa. A stop at Betty’s Bay is a welcomed opportunity to meet the colony of endangered African penguins in their cozy seaside habitat.

Pass through Hermanus for a spot of lunch and shopping, perhaps even a lucky whale sighting between the months of July to November. Continue onward to the southernmost tip of Africa, Cape Agulhas, to witness the meeting point of the cold Atlantic and warm Indian oceans.

Day 2 Head to the ‘Ostrich Capital of the World’, Oudtshoorn, where an afternoon lies in wait for exploring the ancient cave system at Cango Caves, or simply spend some time sampling local wines.

Day 3 With breakfast out the way, a trip over Outeniqua Mountain Pass leads to an afternoon of canoeing between the lush indigenous vegetation along the Touw River at Wilderness National Park. Explore the surrounds a little more on a 2-kilometer boardwalk hike that opens up to a cascading waterfall, where you can enjoy a dip in the inviting rock pool below.

Next stop, Knysna. Lunch and leisurely shopping lead on to a trip up to the Knysna Heads, where a remarkable viewpoint parts the Indian Ocean and Knysna River estuary to either side. Relish in the sun, sand and ‘vitamin sea’ while relaxing on one of the beautiful beaches nearby in Sedgefield for the remainder of the day.

Day 4 No garden route trip is complete without visiting the Tsitsikamma National Park for a hike, swim or walk across the suspension bridge. A quick stop on route at the world’s highest bungee jump bridge, Bloukrans, is an opportunity to tick off an item on your bucket list. But this one may just be for the daring few.

Day 5 With 2-3 hours at Addo Elephant National Park, there is plenty to do on this 28,000-hectare reserve, including the option of a game drive. Head back to the heart of the garden route to settle in for the evening in either Wilderness or Mossel Bay.

Day 6 After breakfast, stretch out on one of the beaches at Mossel Bay and soak up the sun or get your heart rate up on a hike along St. Blaize trail, contouring along the cliffs from the St. Blaize Lighthouse. If you aren’t quite ready for the tour to end, you could indulge in an optional tandem skydive or sandboarding adventure before returning to Cape Town.

  • Breakfast and dinner daily (excluding day 6)
  • Wilderness viewing safari in Addo Elephant National Park
  • Tandem skydiving
  • Sandboarding

The Hottest Spa and Wellness Trends in 2024, According to Travel Experts

Cryotherapy in Greece and spa safaris in Indonesia are some of the next big spa trends.

Since 1971, Travel + Leisure editors have followed one mission: to inform, inspire, and guide travelers to have deeper, more meaningful experiences. T+L's editors have traveled to countries all over the world, having flown, sailed, road tripped, and taken the train countless miles. What's hot in the world of wellness ? According to our A-List travel advisors, it's high-tech treatments like cryotherapy, spa safaris, yoga in natural surroundings, and wellness retreats in beautiful settings like 14th-century forts in India and volcanoes in Rwanda.

Fitness Pioneer in London

"The long-awaited studio from global fitness pioneer Tracy Anderson has opened at Surrenne in London . As an Anderson fan, I went to the opening weekend to experience her body sculpting method. Her revolutionary equipment, including exercise bands in the ceiling and a MyMode apparatus — combined with silent workouts to heighten brain activity — engaged my mind-body connection for a metabolically effective workout." — Nicola Butler, NoteWorthy

Cryotherapy in Greece

Courtesy of One&Only

"The hottest trends in wellness retreats are centered around high-tech treatments and deep health offerings. One example is cryotherapy, which can reduce inflammation, improve circulation, and promote overall well-being. My favorite place that embraces cryotherapy is the One&Only Aesthesis in the Athenian Riviera , which features the first Guerlain spa in Greece. The spa offers innovative treatments, personalized services, and a cryotherapy room." — Christos Stergiou, TrueTrips

Spa Palace in India

" Six Senses Fort Barwara near Ranthambore, India, focuses on wellness in palatial settings. Imagine a beautiful 14th-century fort, converted into a sanctuary for those wishing to detach from the hustle and bustle of the city and daily life. The significant conservation efforts by Six Senses incorporate two palaces and two temples within the walled fort. The 30,000-square-foot spa and fitness center lies within the original women’s palace. Its extensive Ayurvedic healing system is a holistic retreat that should not be missed." — Marion Miller, Micato Safaris

Lakeside Beauty in Italy

Florian Andergassen/Courtesy of Cape of Senses

"The Cape of Senses is on a natural hillside terrace above Lake Garda, and it offers a sensorial place for mental, spiritual, and physical balance. It engages your senses, including smell (a sauna and pool is perfumed with lavender, citrus, and thyme), touch (gentle and warm massages), and sight (a garden accompanied by calming music, and a view of blue Lake Garda)." — Matteo Della Grazia & Daniela Mencarelli, Fuoritinerario — Discover Your Italy

Yoga Birthplace in India

Courtesy of Taj Rishikesh Resort & Spa

"A wellness resort in a fascinating place makes for a fabulous combination. One of my favorites is the Taj Rishikesh Resort & Spa, Uttarakhand . Set near the birthplace of yoga, this resort offers a unique wellness program, and the ability to explore a lesser-known area of India. Maybe it’s a visit to the Beatles Ashram or rafting the Ganges. The resort also specializes in Ayurvedic wellness." — Jonathan Alder, Jonathan’s Travels

Spa Safari in Indonesia

Courtesy of Nihi Sumba

"One of my favorite places in the world is Nihi Sumba in Indonesia. It offers a spa safari that defies everything you thought about the spa experience. It takes a standard treatment to a whole new level. Without ruining too much of the surprise, it's something I recommend to all of my clients and requires nearly a full day to experience." — Maria Diego, Diego Travel

Holistic Wellness in South Africa

"A hot trend is the integration of holistic experiences that cater to physical and mental well-being. Future Found Sanctuary, in my hometown of Cape Town, South Africa, epitomizes this trend by offering immersive programs that combine yoga, meditation, and mindfulness practices with gourmet cuisine and nature excursions." — Maija de Rijk-Uys, Go2Africa

Volcanic Sauna in Rwanda

"At the Virunga Lodge in Rwanda , guests can experience the African rungu massage at Ikirunga Spa & Sauna. A rungu throwing club — carved from eucalyptus wood and used by Masai warriors — helps relax tired muscles after a long gorilla trek. The long strokes and deep pressure reduces aches and pains, improves blood circulation, and [assists with] lymph drainage and muscle toning. Relax in the volcanic stone sauna afterward and enjoy the stunning panoramic views of the Virunga volcanoes." — Praveen Moman, Volcanoes Safaris

Spiritual Renewal in Arizona

Ken Hayden/Courtesy of Mii Amo

"I am obsessed with Mii Amo , a destination spa located in Sedona, Arizona. It recently completed a full renovation, and has always been one of my favorite destination spas in the U.S. Mii Amo’s spa services are wonderful and the location elevates the experience. Sedona is the perfect place for a spiritual renewal. You may think you need a few days of massages and facials, yet you also leave with a renewed sense of spirituality." — Julie Jones, TopFlight Travels

Nature Healing in Tanzania

"The trend is for natural surroundings: an outdoor massage under a thatched roof; claw-foot tubs in an open plain as animals graze nearby. These spas make people feel relaxed and one with nature. Asilia Spa at The Highlands in Ngorongoro, Tanzania, offers treatments based on traditional healing methods. The care team specializes in therapies designed to nurture the body and mind and provide a blissful return to balance. Don’t forget to allocate some time for the sauna before your treatment." — Susan Neva, Alluring Africa

Sha Wellness in Mexico

Courtesy of SHA Mexico

"The Sha Method has finally arrived in the Americas at Sha Mexico on the Riviera Maya. You need a minimum of four nights for this transformative experience that combines multiple disciplines to help you achieve and maintain an optimal state of health." — Erina Pindar, SmartFlyer

Herb Apothecary in Qatar

"I can't wait to send clients to The Retreat at Zulal Wellness Resort , located outside of Doha, in beautiful Qatar. This wellness resort provides amazingly unique treatments and a tea room with more than 120 teas and blends that each serve a medicinal purpose. Also not to be missed is the herb apothecary, where you can have custom blends based on your health journey. The grounds are beautiful and the dining offers chef-curated meals that nourish the mind, body, and soul." — Tiffany Layne, LaVon Private Luxury
