Terrible. Plane was at gate for 30 minutes before boarding. Boarding took 30 min. Then the co pilot announces that the plane has the minimal amount of fuel it needed. So we waited at the gate on board without air conditioning for 42 minutes while the plane took on additional fuel. My question to Southwest Airlines. Why didn’t you add the fuel to the plane before you allowed boarding to a plane without air conditioning in 102 degree heat.

I had never flown Alaska before. Years ago I flew constantly. Flying these days is not a glamorous experience. It’s not that easy to get inexpensive direct flights either. Not glamorous but reasonably priced and comfortable. I appreciated the inflight WiFi (for messaging only but that’s ok, I like to read on flights). I didn’t check the inflight entertainment, see above. I was lucky on the AUS => SFO flight—they needed volunteers to check bags at the gate. That bumped me up a level in status so they let me move to an empty exit row. The return flight I was assigned a seat in one. Very nice. As pleasant a trip as possible these days.

I felt bad for them. We checked 4 bags. We got three from the baggage claim carousel. 4th one was lost. Delta online help wasn’t good. Baggage claim staff were sympathetic and nice but we waited around for almost 2 hours and it had t been found. They did find it several hours later and we had to drive back to airport to retrieve it. I won’t be splurging on 1st. Lass again anytime soon. I think we got worse service. I am also not a huge fan of delta but we have family in ATL so we don’t have a ton of choice. What should have been an easy flight turned into a stressful event due to flight crew tardiness and baggage mishandling.

7 hour delay for mechanical reasons Handled badly by crew and delta personnel

In thirty years of traveling, mostly with Delta, this was the worst day ever.

The flight was so late that I had to change connecting flights, turning a five-hour trip into a fourteen-hour nightmare.

I am so shocked at the service in first class. We were not greeted or offered a beverage for 45 minutes into the flight. She did however have time to write a long note. I just wanted a snack and something to drink. We were never offered coffee and the snacks came after dinner? It was the oddest flight I have ever been on. The gentleman next to me got up and gave our dinner box’s to the flight attendant and asked for a second glass of wine for each of us. Our dinner boxes sat on our tray for 20 minutes. She was rather distracted. He then asked another flight attendant for wine… finally we had a second glass. I was trying to give her some grace, she also told the man next me we couldn’t have any more wine because we drank it all… after landing the seasoned traveler next me ask for her employee number. Then it was a mutiny! She was refusing and it got tense. The captain came and asked what was happening, the flight attendants totally gave a biased account of the fact. The captain told the police the man I was seated next to was intoxicated! That was completely inaccurate and it really escalated things. I policeman found me at the luggage carousel to verify the facts. The flight attendants made false accusations that he touched them! That never happened. It was a very poorly trained crew. I am so anngry and shock by the entire experience! It was terrible service! I would like a refund for what I paid to be in first class and the most uncomfortable flight ever. I always fly Delta, it has been wonderful. I was so flustered by the entire experience! Please give me an update on this matter! Thank you, Kelle Myers

It was reported to the passengers that Delta failed to schedule the crew properly. This error caused the pilot to show up about 30 minutes late. All in all Delta's inability to take care of this basic function resulted in about an hour delay.

Food was not the best. Too many items had sauce pm them with a lot of spices The seat was not comfortable especially when you lay down

Late departure due to large number of wheel chair patrons. Used to having a box of snacks to select from in comfort plus. The flight attendant just rattled off what was available and asked us to pick. Felt rushed and uncomfortable. Seat was great. Prefer having the screen on the seat in front of me instead of having to pull it up from the seat side. Lots of room for my carryon under the seat in front of me.

Traveling with JetBlue from NYC was convenient as accessing JFK airport was straightforward via the LIRR to the AirTrain. Maneuvering through the terminal was hassle-free, which was a pleasant start to the journey. However, the flight experience itself left much to be desired. The seating arrangement was notably uncomfortable; despite securing a window seat, space felt cramped. This was exacerbated by the middle seat passenger encroaching on my area, which made the flight less enjoyable. Additionally, while the in-flight entertainment system initially seemed like a reprieve, the sound outlet on my seat was inoperable. This issue turned what could have been a manageable three-hour flight into a rather tedious ordeal, as I was unable to use the entertainment system effectively. While JetBlue provided a smooth process in terms of airport logistics, the on-board experience highlighted areas in need of improvement, particularly in terms of comfort and entertainment system maintenance.

Going through JFK’s security is a mess. The TSA security said no shoes on the bins. So, we place our shoes in the belt and they came out all over the belt. Boarding was delayed and Flight as well.

Jetblue needs to improve on Onboarding as it seems to always be behind on departing. It never leaves on time. I would recommend to have an earlier Onboarding in order to leave on time and respect your customers time as well.

Another horrible Jet Blue experience. This airline has suffered the biggest decline of all from best to worst. TVs didn’t work (again). internet was temperamental. Boarded late and couldn’t get organized to serve snacks.

I hate their constant delays! It’s as if I cannot confidently make plans for timing when I'm traveling with them. I slept through it, so all I can say is it was good.

The staff at JFK were rude and unhelpful. I was harassed for the same bag that I used on my flight to jfk with no issues claiming it was the inappropriate size. The women then allowed my travel companion to board with the same size bag because they thought she was more “humble”. Also on the flight when informing the flight attendant that nationals no longer have to fill out the Bahamas immigration form my statement was met with eye rolling and attitude.

One of the crew members, a male complained about my bag being too heavy, which I felt was really unnecessary. I am disabled and would have carried it myself if I thought it was going to be a problem. In addition the landing was rough because everyone gasped in unison which it touched down.

This was a short flight with no food. The attendants were great but the comfort was poor: just to cramped. The flight from Denver to Frankfort was excellent! Seating was roomier, food was good, service was good. This was a great experience.

I still prefer Delta, but Delta doesn’t fly to State College PA.

Luggage management is poor, my missing luggage is still lingering.

In this flight we had selected seating for our family in the middle of the plane in a 2x2 format. The airline changed them to the very back row of the plane and split them to 3x1. Why pay for seats that allow seat selection if the airline will just move them to the worst seats in the plane?

The flight was bumpy. No Breakfast or coffee was served, not even a bottle of water. The food was okay but odd. Rice with peas instead of couscous with some unknown green thing. United Airlines did not tell me that there was VERY LIMITED HANDICAP SERVICE IN NAPLES. De-plane via 20 aluminum steps. Taken to Van. You must walk into the terminal, find luggage, and then walk out to the rental car pickup spot that is 1 block from the terminal.

Crew did their best but the plane configuration is too tight if you're bigger than an average sardine. Controls for the entertainment system didn't all work. The aircraft hadn't been cleaned in awhile.

Never happened, because of the first delayed flight I lost the connection and had to wait overnight and take two flights to reach my destination.

The plane was delayed ~ 40 minutes. Communication could have been better. The entertainment was poor. We were not offered headsets by the flight attendants. The arm rest pad did not work properly, thus, I could not select what I wanted to watch.

In thirty years of traveling, mostly with Delta, this was the worst day ever.

The flight was so late that I had to change connecting flights, turning a five-hour trip into a fourteen-hour nightmare.

I notice that every time I fly delta or any American carrier, the staff seem tired, overworked, and not at the service level I’m accustomed to in Asia. They frequently crash into my arm when coming down the aisle. Food is shoved at my face with no greeting or verbal cue. The food portions seemed much smaller than usual and didn’t see much wine or beverage options. This is comfort plus? The plane was old and tired. The bathroom was dripping with mineral stains after a long lack of cleaning. The power socket did not work, although the USB output did. I really wonder why I’m flying Delta, I think it’s time to switch to ANA.

The airplanes were so old and out-dated it was terrifying to fly on them.

The food from Lagos to Amsterdam was was very poor compared to AMS-YYZ

The new Finnair business class is superb! The design is wonderfully innovative and ridiculously comfortable. There is more seat space to lounge and sleep than the usual business class seat. Austrian airlines lost my bag in Vienna and it took 2 days to find it and deliver it to me

I paid for carry-on bag, but they did not let me take it on board, persuaded to check it in because the flight was full. I agreed to help them out, and they mixed up tag numbers and my bag got lost. I had very valuable things in there, and my whole vacation experience was ruined. I even asked the boarding assistant why the tag number was different from the assigned one, but they assured me it was alright and the bag will arrive to my destination. Nothing arrived of course. Incompetence of boarding assistants cost me the loss of all my things.

Again, delays. That route from VIE to RMO gets regular delay all the time.

They lost our luggage and there has been no news for 5 days. I called their office and they said they can’t help us, we don’t do anything about it.

I have been traveling with visa for 25 years and this was the first time when we find out in Miami that my children’s connecting flight were overbooked and been canceled by Swissair from Zürich to Budapest. The results of that they re booked us at the Miami airport. The new route was Miami to Zürich ,Zürich to Amsterdam, Amsterdam to Budapest. We had over six hours layover in Zürich and arrived to Budapest nine hours later. There should never be in a situation where a ticket that I purchased over 7 months ago was sold to somebody else and instead of removing those two people we had to do this journey, I’m contacting customer support and requesting a refund shortly.

No fault of the crew, but the the rear lavatories were closed the entire flight. The front lavatories were blocked off for the first part of the flight by the food cart. Then some minor turbulence occurred so the fasten seatbelt sign came on for the second part of the flight. Heroic containment engaged! It was not fun.

We were given a complimentary seat upgrade which was so unexpected but so lovely!

Las Vegas is a world of imagination. Just close your eyes and think about anything, and the odds are in your favor that you'll find it in Las Vegas. I mean, in only four miles of real estate, you can see relics from all parts of the world, like ancient Egypt, modern-day Venice, the streets of Paris, and the New York skyline. If that seems too kitschy, don't worry, there are plenty of elaborate resorts with non-stop gaming and over-the-top entertainment waiting to greet you. Where else in the world does a wonderland like this exist? Nowhere. But. Vegas.

The atmosphere of Las Vegas is something that you almost have to experience to understand fully. It's the ringing of chimes as a guest just hit the jackpot, the thumping bass from the club, the smell of unique and eclectic delicacies waiting to be tasted, and it's people-watching like nothing you've seen before. It's a never-ending source of irony and improbability where you can turn a chip and a chair into a million dollars.

For each visitor, Las Vegas is going to present a unique experience. It's like an equation where you + more = more of you: more chances to explore your personality, more opportunities to experiment with new ideas, and more thrills to discover around every corner. It's that reason alone that the sentiment "what happens here, stays here" is shared by so many visitors.

Before You Go

To make it easier to replace your passport if it’s lost or stolen, in addition to your passport, take a photocopy of your passport information page (keeping it separate from your actual passport).
Carry only a limited amount of cash, just enough for gratuities and incidental purchases. Major credit cards are widely accepted and can be replaced if lost or stolen.

The Vegas climate's bark is worse than its bite. Sure, summer highs hover around 100°F, but with no humidity and ever-present air-conditioning, you'll be comfortable as long as you have water on hand. Even the warmer months (June-September) are entirely bearable if you hydrate. Luckily, with 300 days of sunshine a year, the chances of a rain-out are slim. On the other hand, nights can be chilly between late fall and early spring, so bring a sweater or windbreaker for your evening strolls beneath the neon-bathed skies. Las Vegas doesn't have a high or low season by the standard definition, but you'll find it the least crowded between November and January. Hotels are at their fullest July through October. Specific events—New Year's Eve, spring break, major conventions, sporting events—draw big crowds, so plan accordingly.

I've been to Las Vegas over 50 times. Here are the 9 big mistakes I see most first-time visitors make.

My husband and I have visited Las Vegas more than 50 times in the past two decades.
I've seen first-timers repeat mistakes, from missing hotel deals to refusing to leave the Strip.
With some planning, travelers can stay within their budget and have a great time in Sin City.

I've been to Las Vegas over 50 times and want others to enjoy Sin City as much as I do.

With over 50 visits to Las Vegas under my belt, I consider myself an expert in all things Sin City .

Early in our marriage, my husband and I started traveling to Las Vegas every June to celebrate our anniversary. The summertime trips were so fun that we added an annual Christmastime visit to our calendars too.

We still couldn't get enough, so we returned to the city more and more frequently over the past two decades.

I love Las Vegas, so I'm always disappointed when I hear people complain about it, especially when many of their negative experiences could've been avoided.

Here are the common mistakes I watch many first-time visitors make, along with tips on how to avoid making them yourself.

If your schedule is flexible, check hotel rates for a variety of dates to find the best deal.

Hotel prices in Las Vegas rise and fall throughout the year. Sometimes they soar due to massive conventions happening around town. Other times, they drop because of scorching temperatures and post-holiday lulls.

Before booking, I recommend checking room prices for a wide range of dates to find the most cost-effective option . Rates are usually less expensive on weekdays than weekends, so take advantage of any flexibility in your schedule. Plus, lower prices often mean the hotel will be less crowded.

There are so many resorts to choose from on the Strip. Some of our favorites are Aria Resort & Casino, the Bellagio Hotel & Casino, NoMad Las Vegas, and Resorts World Las Vegas.

Vacationing in Las Vegas can be expensive, so decide what's worth splurging on ahead of time.

Between the casinos, shows, and restaurants, a vacation in Las Vegas can add up. With a little planning and prioritization, you can enjoy your trip to the fullest without blowing through your budget.

When we craft our trip itinerary, my husband and I always decide where to splurge and where to save. Because we love delicious food and special dining experiences, we make sure to account for the costs associated with meals at restaurants like Michael Mina, Toscana, and Brezza.

If you don't want to dish out money on high-end dining, you can still get great food at more casual joints — such as Eataly, EggSlut, Evel Pie, or Famous Foods Street Eats.

The Strip can get pricey, so you can also save a bit of money by heading downtown. There, you'll find the Fremont Street Experience, nostalgia-filled hotels, The Mob Museum, and an array of more affordable bars and restaurants .

Reservations are always a good idea when it comes to dining at popular Las Vegas restaurants.

If you're hoping to try some of Las Vegas' most popular restaurants , make reservations in advance. On our recent trips, I've been surprised by how many restaurants were fully booked when I called to make dinner reservations.

Spago, Wolfgang Puck's flagship restaurant in the Bellagio, serves a brunch that's all the rage. Plan to make reservations a couple of weeks beforehand if you want to try it.

And a table at The Mayfair Supper Club, also located in the Bellagio, has become one of the hottest tickets in town. Make a reservation at least a week in advance, especially if you want to go on a Saturday or Sunday.

You can probably get discounted tickets to shows and activities, but you have to be resourceful.

Las Vegas used to be all about gambling, but it's evolved into a multifaceted entertainment hub.

There are shows and concerts every night of the week, and visitors can choose from a variety of activities , from touring museums to riding roller coasters.

The ticket prices for these attractions can be pricey, but you can often find deals on discount sites, like Groupon and Travelzoo. Tix4Tonight also sells discounted tickets for same-night shows at booths on the Strip and downtown.

Shop for basic items at local drugstores and convenience stores to save a few dollars.

We forgot sunscreen the last time we traveled to Las Vegas. Though we could've replenished our supply in the hotel gift shop, I've found that the basic goods sold in the resorts can get expensive.

So, we walked to one of the many nearby drugstores, which sold the bottles at prices comparable to those at our convenience stores at home.

If you're looking to purchase snacks or beverages, I recommend stopping at ABC Stores on the Strip or downtown. The convenience store's prices are usually more affordable than ones at resort shops.

Be ready to walk a lot — and then some more.

Many people underestimate the amount of walking they're about to do when they arrive in Las Vegas.

We needed at least 10 minutes to walk from one end of the Bellagio to the other. Walking the entire length of the Strip along Las Vegas Boulevard takes approximately 90 minutes.

There are almost no pedestrian crosswalks on the busy street. Instead, people travel up and down the Strip using stairs, escalators, and pedestrian bridges. The setup creates a safe route for pedestrians, but it does require more roundabout traveling.

I recommend packing comfortable shoes and allowing yourself plenty of time to reach your destination.

If you're unable to walk (or you just don't want to), you can still get around the Strip, which is wheelchair accessible. The monorail, buses, and trams run frequently, with stops at the major resorts and attractions.

Unless you have a reason to use your car, I don't recommend moving it after you've parked at your hotel.

After we park our car at the hotel, we almost never move it until we check out. We prefer to pay for parking only once and don't want to worry about car logistics if we're out on the town.

We get around mostly by walking. We also use rideshare apps. Most hotels have signage directing guests to designated Uber and Lyft pick-up spots, which are often separate from the hectic main entrances.

We also take the free trams, which stop at many of the resorts on the Strip. In my experience, they're a safe and efficient mode of transportation. Since hotel signage makes the departure point clear, they're also easy to navigate.

The local museums don't make it onto every traveler's itinerary, but they show a different side of Las Vegas.

For years, I laughed at the idea of visiting a museum in Las Vegas, but I've since changed my tune. Now, it's one of my favorite things to do there.

The Neon Museum features vintage signs from famous hotels, restaurants, and bars. The Bellagio Gallery of Fine Arts hosts rotating exhibits, so be sure to check the schedule online. And Perception is a 17,000-square-foot digital museum.

Enjoy the Strip, but don't be afraid to take some time away from it.

When you're ready to trade the Strip's nonstop commotion for some nature, head 30 minutes to Red Rock Canyon or an hour to Valley of Fire State Park . Both are great for sightseeing and hiking.

Visitors should also consider driving an hour from the major resorts to tour the Hoover Dam in Boulder City. When it was built in the 1930s, it was the world's largest dam — and it's still worth a visit today.

In Las Vegas, hotels and resorts are very much the stars of the show. There are more than 150,000 rooms in town — not to mention some of the most over-the-top hotel suites you can imagine.

Whether you want a central location on the Las Vegas Strip, easy access to some of the best things to do in Vegas or the chance to spend the day lounging by one of the incredible Las Vegas hotel pools, you have great options in Sin City. From pure luxury to bougie-on-a-budget and even some "hidden" boutique hotels-within-hotels , here are the very best hotels in Las Vegas.

When Fontainebleau Las Vegas finally opened in 2023 — after 16 long years of waiting — Sin City got an incredible new resort that offers a little taste of Miami right in the desert .

Towering over the north part of the Strip, the long-awaited resort has over 3,600 chic and glamorous rooms and suites featuring a gray, gold and blue color palette. The rooms have custom Serta pillowtop mattresses, incredible soaking tubs and plenty of options with striking views of the Sphere (and all of its antics).

There are also many celebrity-infused restaurants, like the first Vegas outpost of David Grutman's Papi Steak, Evan Funke's Italian joint Mother Wolf and Ito, a mouthwatering omakase.

But that's not all. There's a truly luxurious Lapis Spa with treatments for every need, as well as the "Celestial Waters" experience that can help cure a rough Las Vegas night by moving between hot and cold rooms (including one that produces artificial snow).

Of the three properties housed in the massive red tower on the north end of the Strip, the Las Vegas Hilton at Resorts World has smaller rooms with blue and gold accents, while the Conrad Las Vegas at Resorts World has larger rooms with a midcentury modern vibe and red accents signifying prosperity and good luck. Crockfords Las Vegas , with just under 300 rooms and a private entrance, offers unbridled luxury.

Like most Vegas resorts, this place is filled with restaurants and bars. However, don't miss out on Famous Foods Street Eats, an Asian-inspired food hall that'll make you feel like you're in Singapore. As you enter, "Vegas Vickie" (formerly of the Glitter Gulch) will kick up her leg to welcome you and firmly plant you in the essence of Vegas. It's not all nostalgia, though; Circa is home to a three-story swim-up sportsbook, Stadium Swim , with a 40-foot-high screen showing the latest games and more.

Tucked away on five upper floors (35-39) of Mandalay Bay, the nongaming Four Seasons Hotel Las Vegas is an upscale, peaceful enclave. Though the two properties are connected, they are worlds apart. For starters, the private ground-floor lobby is void of the revolving crowds coming from or going to bustling casinos and other attractions.

The air of exclusivity persists when you reach one of the hotel's 424 rooms, studios or suites that feature art deco-inspired furnishings, marble bathrooms with deep soaking tubs and expansive windows.

Although it's small by Las Vegas standards, the spa offers an extensive selection of treatments, including on-trend therapies like cupping and warm candle massages. Step along colorful mosaic tiles underneath huge floral bouquets suspended from the ceiling. An animated carousel covered in flowers, lush gardens and twinkling lights adds to the magical ambience.

The lobby also offers an overlook of the 3-acre Lake of Dreams, featuring a 90-foot waterfall. The resort's nightly light show here is spectacular. Snag a patio table at SW Steakhouse or Lakeside and enjoy the show over pepper-crusted chateaubriand or Maine lobster.

The 4,750 Wynn and Encore rooms share a similar design aesthetic — creamy beiges and neutral tones with pops of color. Booking a hotel room in Las Vegas can be confusing. You might wonder if it's best to book directly with the property, how to avoid fees, when to visit for the cheapest rates and whether it's possible to book using points.
