Top tips for finding cheap flights to New Zealand

  • Enter your preferred departure airport and travel dates into the search form above to unlock the latest New Zealand flight deals.
  • Due to its proximity to Wellington, New Zealand's capital city, Wellington International Airport (WLG) is overwhelmingly selected as the destination airport for the vast majority of passengers flying from the US to New Zealand. From Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), passengers flying this route have the option of taking indirect flights just with one stopover at Auckland Airport (AKL) for Air New Zealand and Nadi International Airport (NAN) for Fiji Airways.
  • The majority of visitors from the east coast of the United States who want to visit New Zealand fly out of John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to various New Zealand destination airports. The JFK to Auckland Airport (KL) route should be taken into consideration by tourists who want to go from the US to New Zealand as quickly as feasible. The major airline providing direct flights on this route is Air New Zealand 1.
  • If you intend to depart from the USA's central regions and fly to New Zealand, you might want to use Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW). No carriers are operating nonstop flights on this route, therefore passengers flying to New Zealand from the USA only have the choice of using connecting flights.
  • If you intend to travel to any of the cities in New Zealand's north, think about landing at an airport like Auckland International Airport, Queenstown Airport (ZQN), or WLG Airport. Flights to the three airlines are offered by a number of significant international airports that provide flights from the US to New Zealand.
  • Think about going out of Seattle Tacoma International Airport (SEA) if you're traveling to New Zealand from the northwest part of the United States. Those who intend to go from SEA Airport in the least amount of time should think about arriving at AKL. Most airlines provide indirect flights with a single layover at Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport (SYD), including Air Canada and Air New Zealand.
  • When you’re booking your flight to New Zealand from the US, you’ll most likely be flying into Auckland, which is home to New Zealand’s largest international airport. There are a handful of other airports in New Zealand, but those airports mainly receive traffic from destinations in Japan, Singapore and Fiji.
  • The currency of New Zealand is the New Zealand Dollar, and exchanges can be made at all New Zealand Airports. If you’re traveling to Auckland, one of the most popular places to exchange money and get the best possible rate is the collection of money changers located on Queen Street in the city’s main business district.
  • Although most flights from the US to Christchurch will have at least one stop, booking your flight to New Zealand through this city instead of Auckland can give you better access to the North and South Islands of New Zealand, giving you more bang for your buck. Routes to Christchurch are available with Fiji Airways.
  • If you’ll be traveling to Australia after your time in New Zealand, you’ll have several options of airports to fly out of. Airports in New Zealand that operate flights to Australia include the Dunedin Airport (DUD), Queenstown Airport (ZQN) and Wellington Airport (WLG), giving you more options for conveniently traveling throughout the area.
  • After flying to New Zealand, getting around the country via public transportation can be extremely limiting on the areas you’re able to conveniently visit. There are many popular destinations that aren’t reachable by bus. For this reason, it can be extremely beneficial to rent a car in the airport of Auckland, for example, to get around during your stay.

Top 5 airlines flying to New Zealand

Gate agent was fantastic in Auckland. They wanted to charge me for my two bags even though I was gold member with United in Tonga. So I had to pay for an upgrade. The meals on both flights had no vegetarian option. The only one item the salad was not tasty at all. Good thing I had brought my own snacks. The bread was white roll which is so not healthy. I think New Zealand air can definitely improve their food offering.

The entire process was excellent! The economy sits are a bit snug so I'll have to be sure to purchase premier or business class next time but, other than that, food, service, attendants were exceptional. Gate agents and ticket agents too!

Short flight so no entertainment, turbulence so no food service - overall flight as expected

Great meal. Best seats ever! They need to teach other airlines how to do that.

Overall excellent but the Captain kept the seat belt sign on for far too long, especially at the beginning and end of the flight. It was 2 hours after take-off before the crew were able to start the service (on an 11 hour night flight, reducing our sleeping time) and the seat belt sign on went on during breakfast (90 mins before landing) and was not turned off again until we landed. This made for an uncomfortable journey of trying to limit fluid intake because it was unclear when the toilets would be available for use.

Food was not good. We asked for Muslim food and it was weird tasteless type of boiled veges.

Crew were pleasant, happy to be there and were a joy to be around. Entire operation was professional, well thought out and ran like a Swiss clock.

United flight from SFO to PDX was cancelled. I will ask for a refund. Had to book on Alaska

They announced food service but then never came around. We also couldn’t land so kept trying to get to runway and then had to come up and go around happened like 3 times and cause the child next to me to start throwing up

The recline on the seat in front of me came back so that I was staring at the top of the man’s head in front of me the whole trip. He refused to bring his seat back up twice every time he was instructed to do so and only relented when he had a tray of good in front of him. And then right back in my lap!!! Horrible man!! I complained to the staff multiple times, but no one would address the issue. Otherwise, it would have been a perfect flight.

Business class Seats on the A350 from Nan to YVR were wonderful. The flight crew was okay but could do with better training. Toilets were clean but ran out of paper towels towards the end of the flight. The food/menu and the wine offered really needs considerable improvement. Dinner options were either Bolani, a beef sandwich (even this could be made much better), or paneer butter masala. Unfortunately, if you are not a fan of Fijian food, there isn’t much choice. Dessert was either turmeric ice cream or fruits but unfortunately, they were out of fruit! So the only option was turmeric ice cream. I’m not certain how many passengers like turmeric but I am not one of them. They need to cater to a more diverse group of people. Perhaps they need a new chef? The movies& tv shows were mostly older so I didn’t find that interesting either. It was however, fun to view the plane’s exterior cameras as we take off and land. The best thing about this flight are the business class seats.

Comfortable as one can get in Economy, food was very good, staff were super friendly & efficient.

Really liked the plane and business class seat. Food was ok but could be better. Service was very good.

Better connections, much better cabin crew, much cleaner cabin that Qantas, American and probably other carriers.

Better connections, much better cabin crews, much cleaner aircraft than Qantas, American and probably others.

Fiji left without me because American Airlines was too stupid to get to LAX on time. Fiji should have offered a standby on another flight but they told me tough luck. I will never fly with this company again.

The A350 aircraft business class experience was very good. Comfortable and well appointed pod, and supplemental bed pad available for sleeping. Food was very good.

Business class seats and amenities were excellent, crew very attentive. Slept well. Food good, lounge experience nice. Would fly them again. A350 aircraft excellent, very quiet.

The flight attendants were extremely friendly and helpful. Everything ran on time. I highly recommend Fiji Airways.

The experience was lovely in every respect. The crews were delightful.

I am so shocked at the service in first class. We were not greeted or offered a beverage for 45 minutes into the flight. She did however have time to write a long note. I just wanted a snack and something to drink. We were never offered coffee and the snacks came after dinner? It was the oddest flight I have ever been on. The gentleman next to me got up and gave our dinner box’s to the flight attendant and asked for a second glass of wine for each of us. Our dinner boxes sat on our tray for 20 minutes. She was rather distracted. He then asked another flight attendant for wine… finally we had a second glass. I was trying to give her some grace, she also told the man next me we couldn’t have any more wine because we drank it all… after landing the seasoned traveler next me ask for her employee number. Then it was a mutiny! She was refusing and it got tense. The captain came and asked what was happening, the flight attendants totally gave a biased account of the fact. The captain told the police the man I was seated next to was intoxicated! That was completely inaccurate and it really escalated things. I policeman found me at the luggage carousel to verify the facts. The flight attendants made false accusations that he touched them! That never happened. It was a very poorly trained crew. I am so anngry and shock by the entire experience! It was terrible service! I would like a refund for what I paid to be in first class and the most uncomfortable flight ever. I always fly Delta, it has been wonderful. I was so flustered by the entire experience! Please give me an update on this matter! Thank you, Kelle Myers

It was reported to the passengers that Delta failed to schedule the crew properly. This error caused the pilot to show up about 30 minutes late. All in all Delta's inability to take care of this basic function resulted in about an hour delay.

Food was not the best. Too many items had sauce pm them with a lot of spices The seat was not comfortable especially when you lay down

Late departure due to large number of wheel chair patrons. Used to having a box of snacks to select from in comfort plus. The flight attendant just rattled off what was available and asked us to pick. Felt rushed and uncomfortable. Seat was great. Prefer having the screen on the seat in front of me instead of having to pull it up from the seat side. Lots of room for my carryon under the seat in front of me.

The airplanes were so old and out-dated it was terrifying to fly on them.

It’s was good. There’s so much room for improvement though. Since the plane was small, there was no entertainment but for years now, the most jarring aspect of travel is the lack of tasty snacks.

The important things including boarding and the flight being on time and safe were excellent. The disappointment comes from the comfort and amenities. Was misled by the "availability" of inflight internet- there is an extra cost. The tray table was broken, the bathroom door stuck and flight attendants were competent but not very friendly.

The Pilot was one of the best I've had, very informative about turbulence and got us to our destination early

The Gate Attendant @ Gate B36 was rude The flight was good but the entertainment system was not functioning as expected. The snacks were ok but could be better The flight crew was excellent.

Flight was delayed, missed connectingnflight to DC. Put me on flight to Baltimore, had to rent a car for $200. Plane was old, wall peeling around window. Flight was packed, every seat full on small plane. I spent 14 hrs on Friday in airports and missed my planned weekend event.

It was so uncomfortable for 14 straight hours it was torture

To san Francisco it was ok. From sf to Manila it was horrible

They opened my checked bag and even though my lock was tsa approved, they loose my lock and left my bag just like that. Incompetent people, very upset about it. I’ll try to avoid traveling with united

The passenger in the row in front of me was listening to a political speech on his phone at full volume with no headphones and it was disturbing all of the passengers around him for several rows. I asked 2 of the flight attendants to speak to this passenger but they only shrugged. It was obvious that they were afraid there might be conflict and would not say anything. I had to take it upon myself to tell the passenger that he needed to turn it off or wear headphones as it was disturbing everyone around him not wearing their own headphones. I was very disappointed in the United flight attendants.

Flight was ok. Unfortunately it was a Boeing 737, which is a cramped / tight airplane. I prefer the Airbus as they are a more comfortable flight experience.

United ground crew and pilots are friendly. The in-flight staff (flight attendants) are the worst in the world. Multiple trips, always unpleasant, combative, use implicit threats to not allow for a discussion on their decision. Authoritarian. This seems to stem from an internal corporate wide policy as I doubt that United is intentionally searching for people that are not fit for customer facing positions. I will not fly United again. Good luck fixing your business

We fly to Ecuador frequently. Checking in is usually a hassle because most United agents take some time before they can verify that my passport doesn't require a visa to Ecuador. This time the process was even longer due to the cyber attack. But she was really nice to us. So glad we brought plenty of snacks to supplement the 3 flights from SEA to GYE.

Awful, rude staff. Their abrasive comments are unnecessary. Most seek a frictionless experience and will cooperate if you ask. Additional childish bullying of customers is not acceptable or tolerated. We had the same problem with our departure flight. We will never fly United again.

Everything was fantastic. Modern plane. All the amenities! Although the paid snacks and meals are pure robbery. Like i understand airlines need to make money, but 11$ USD for an overnight oats with some nuts in it and barely any pieces of apple.... Highway robbery

Onboarding process was great and efficient. Plane was very new and entertainment choices were great. The only complain is no meal despite it was a flight that is longer than 6 hours.

Seats were very uncomfortable. I paid extra for a seat with more leg room, the seat was no different than a seat at the back of the plane. Flight attendant was rude.

Departure more than an hour later. Conexion/waiting time at the airport was more than 7 hours :(

3 hour delay on run way, not even a drink offered, staff seemed rude and rushed, felt unwell so asked twice for paracetamol and was told to wait, never got it

Flight was scheduled to leave at 6:25am. Went to bed at 9pm to get enough sleep. Flight cancelled at 1am that morning. Only flights available either landed at 8:30pm (9 hours later and 3 hours after the event I was trying to attend) or in a completely different state. Way to screw up my weekend, American.

Easy trip, left on time. Very impressed. Great pilot who talked to us

Best flight by a pilot I’ve ever been on as a 62 year old

I was bumped to first class so I got some food. It was OK. Entertainment is whatever you bring with you since there are no seatback screens.

Flights were on time. That's the main consideration since I had to change planes. The entertainment was whatever you bring with you and the food (in Economy) is non-existant. Neither of those was a surprise.

also wi-fi never worked attendant said satellite coverage is spotty over water ..... but we were over land!

Mobility assistance at DFW is A JOKE!!! Totally disorganized, ineffective and annoying. Ended up having to walk and find our own way for a good part of the very, very long walk between gates. Worst assistance I have ever experienced.

Tripadeal Review – A Customer’s Perspective

- This post may contain affiliate links. Read our disclosure.

With five trips to date both home and away, and another two in the pipeline for 2019, I could well be considered a TripADeal Frequent Flyer . The TripADeal model is changing the way many of us book our holidays. And bargain hunters like me LOVE it!

I’ve paid for all my TripADeal trips and have not received any special discounts apart from the regular prices available to the public.

Since swimming with the whales in Tonga, which was my first TripADeal holiday in 2016, my husband and I have visited Malaysian Borneo, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Canada, USA (Alaska and Yellowstone National Park) and Rainbow Beach in Queensland – all through TripADeal.

So, I would like to offer you a TripADeal review and my own travel experiences with them.

TripADeal is an online travel agency currently setting Australia on fire.

Since its inception in 2011, TripADeal has become a one of Australia’s top online travel agencies.

TripADeal offers massive discounts on holiday deals and is competing with market giants such as Expedia.

It was voted ‘ Best Online Travel Agent ’ by the Australian Federation of Travel Agents (AFTA) in 2017 and all of this out of little ol’ Byron Bay.

With a mantra of “ Making Travel Dreams Come True “, their holiday deals fall into two main categories:

  • Travel (tour packages sometimes including cruises)
  • Escape (accommodation deals with no tours)

Both categories have domestic and international destinations, with occasional special ‘2 for 1 deals’ that will light anyone’s fire!

Stormy sunset at Ha'Apia Beach Resort Tonga

Well, my love affair with TripADeal began in 2016.

The initial hook?

A full-page attractive ad in a local newspaper lured me in.

That was followed by automated TripADeal emails to my inbox at work after subscribing. Now that’s always a susceptible time to be thinking of another holiday!

And all it took was a headline highlighting one of my bucket list destinations, followed by a price I couldn’t resist.

“Simples”, as a certain meerkat would say.

Tonga whales humpback swimming

My first dip into TripADeal’s world of adventure was the “ Tonga Whale Encounters – Swim With Humpback Whales”, an 11-day South Pacific experience of a lifetime at only $4499 all inclusive.

Little did I know that I was soon to become hooked on TripADeal, evolving (or some would say ‘mutated’) into a TripADeal multi-tripper.

TripADeal savings

Being a control freak with a triple-A personality, I used to make most of my own travel arrangements, especially if I could save a dollar or two.

But finding the time to do so is a huge issue, which is getting worse.

Everyone is time-poor.

I certainly no longer have the time to visit travel shops or peruse brochures or sit and detail all my desires to a busy, half-interested travel agent.

Working a stressful full-time job just doesn’t allow any such luxury and having the interest or inclination to plan details of a complex itinerary, with flights, hotels, meals and side excursions has certainly waned.

So, present me with an all-in-one package, with a great headline and price that catches my eye.

I’m in, hook, line, and sinker!

TripADeal seems to have perfected the technique.

Those regular daily emails just keep dropping into my inbox.

Filled with wonderful eye-catching headlines and photos, they certainly are an easy temptation!

TripADeal – Ease Of Booking Online

TripADeal booking

TripADeal’s website is quite user-friendly and their holiday deals are easy to search for.

A mere click on the photo or ‘View Deal’ button takes you to the deal and the details of your chosen holiday are extensive.

They include the itinerary, highlights, tour inclusions and other important info.

Their multi-paged package information is pretty much fully explanatory.

A countdown clock on the right-hand side displays the time you have left to make a decision.

Although we all know that it’s a great marketing ploy to give the customer a sense of urgency, in the case of these TripADeal holidays, there really is an urgency.

If it looks too good to be true, the available dates will go very quickly.

So be forewarned!

If you have any questions, you can call and talk to a Travel Consultant, or Chat Online. After all, they are a travel agency.

Personally, I have never needed to do this at all.

I find the online instructions very easy to read, understand and follow.

However, you should research your trip before booking, especially to choose the best time to travel for that particular country which best suits you.

Once you have chosen your trip, the date, how many travellers and other details, your final price is shown.

You simply have to complete your order and pay.

TripADeal –  Pros And Cons of Booking

  • The prices are certainly very attractive (I don’t think I could match them if I tried to book such trips myself let alone the time and angst it would take me!).
  • The ‘2 for 1’ deals are especially awesome.
  • There are many advertised cut-price travel deals on the web but the more you examine the details, the more exclusions you find, hence their low price. With TripADeal, that is not the case.
  • Most of their Travel deals include international flights, accommodation, most (if not all)excursions and some (if not all) meals. So why re-invent the wheel if TripADeal has done all the hard yards for you?

Well, isn’t that amazing? I can’t really think of anything.

Except I guess that it is an online booking agency.

Well hello, but that’s why you are using it, isn’t it?

If you do get stuck booking online, you can still call them or chat online.

Although I have never actually had to phone TripADeal for anything, so I can’t comment on this.

I thought this might be a good point to have some insight into how TripADeal can offer such great holidays at such fabulous prices.

Well, Emmy Lou Stockbridge is one of those awesome passionate people who put TripADeal adventures together.

I recently had the chance to ask her a few questions. Here is what she said:

How long have you worked for TripADeal?

Three years

Do you enjoy it?

I LOVE IT !!

What is your role in the company?

I am a Business Development Manager – a BDM’s role is to create the unbeatable deals you see online.

How many people actually work for TripADeal – especially in your area?

Over 100 and growing. My department is ‘Product’ and there are six BDM’s.

What is involved in creating a holiday package deal for TripADeal?

First establishing where the customer wishes to travel, looking at global trends and then sourcing the best travel or tour companies and accommodation worldwide, negotiating rates and building relationships, joining this with flights and making an unbeatable deal to put out for sale.

Making travel dreams come true!

Do you visit the country yourself to test out an itinerary you are working on?

Yes, we travel to all our destinations and create itineraries ourselves but only after testing THE BEST way to travel a certain route or a destination.

Is there any possibility of extending holidays before or at the end of the trips?

Yes absolutely, you can find this info in the fine print of all the deals.

Does TripADeal take into account travellers feedback, both good and bad?

Yes, we do, this determines always how much better we can make the trip, we are always wanting to improve on even the most successful and best-selling trips.

How does TripADeal manage to offer such well-priced deals?

All due to the wonderful and skilled negotiations of the Travel BDM’s. This along with our dedication and loyalty to our merchants.

Does TripADeal offer a flight price reduction guarantee?

No, we will just find the best rate online at the time of booking.

If someone still wants to book a TripADeal holiday face-to-face, is that possible?

Yes of course. We are part of Travellers Choice Travel Agency, with 150 stores Australia wide.

Are online bookings the most popular way of booking?

We have been awarded Best Online Travel Company twice, and we send over 30,000 eager travellers around the globe every year.

This is a testament to the growing number of travellers wanting to purchase online.

It’s simple and if you have a fabulous in-house Customer Service department like us, you can’t go wrong.

So what age group do you think TripADeal holidays most appeal to?

In the past, it was generally over 40+.

But a new trend in the market has shown we appeal to all ages!

A lot of the younger travellers are seeing the incredible value in our trips and are jumping on board.

TripADeal Reviews

If you want to know more, read my TripADeal Reviews of their Travel tours I have recently experienced.

If you want to travel independently, here’s a Sri Lanka itinerary to help you plan an independent trip.

16 Day Fly, Tour & Stay – Maldives & Sri Lanka

Cost: $2799 (Standard Package), $3199 (Premium Package)

TripADeal Sri Lanka

The premium package of this Tripadeal trip offers upgraded hotels during the 7-day Sri Lanka tour. Hence the price difference.

Whilst you may be tempted to book a Premium Package, to be honest with hindsight most of us wouldn’t have (see suggestions below).

Many tour highlights are included in the price but not all were mentioned in the advertised itinerary or as optional extras.

So I have included them here in this Tripadeal review.

Highlights Of our Tripadeal Sri Lanka Tour

TripADeal Sri Lanka Wildlife photo collage

The coach takes you to the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Lion Rock. But admission for a self-guided tour was Optional (and a MUST do).

This was FANTASTIC!

Not only the amazing history (built in 477AD) and magnitude of the rock fortress but the 200m climb up from the jungle to the top is a must.

Beware of the young men who will forcibly try to assist you along the walk up the rock.

They are very insistent and quite pushy and will demand payment after.

Despite this hassle, the views at the top are stunning, as was the abundant wildlife along the way.

The troops of macaques were particularly curious, engaging and sneaky thieves if given half a chance!

It included a twin oxen cart ride through the village (definitely a highlight!) followed by a short walk along rice paddies and treehouses (watchtowers against marauding elephants).

Then board a local catamaran canoe to cruise a lake, the iconic Lion Rock in the distance. Landing alongside a local village pontoon, we were invited into the village.

Entertainment included learning to de-husk rice, crack a coconut and a leaf weaving demonstration.

And after all that hard work, we were served a beautiful freshly cooked traditional village lunch.

A scary tuk-tuk ride back to our transport completed our tour.

What a memorable experience, and one with a difference.

Walking amongst hundreds of stalls selling local produce whilst commercial trucks and utes try to load up.

This was a very busy active Farmer’s Market selling so many fruits and vegetables we didn’t even recognize.

Again, not itemized.

You will need to take off your shoes and reverently walk through the site to see the 150 statues of Buddha.

Watch out for more monkeys too.

This included show demonstrated twelve colourful ritualistic cultural dances.

But the highlight was the south Ceylonese Wedi fire dance.

Firewalking and fire-eating performed in a street-level car park. Amazing!

A very insightful tour of a top-class gemstone factory and showrooms.

It included a historical film of gem mining.

From the Sri Lankan moonstone to multi-coloured sapphires and red or green garnets.

Gorgeous and very tempting!

And did you know?

Lady Di’s iconic blue sapphire engagement ring actually came from Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka has a 150 yr history of growing tea.

This was one of the largest tea factories and its tour was very enjoyable.

Tea is still traditionally hand-picked by only women and the eight different Ceylon teas are world re-known.

Tasting the final product was fascinating.

Orange pekoe tea purposefully drunk over a cube of palm sugar and no milk. And a coffee-tea blend, well, that tasted peculiarly like peppermint.

Instead of driving to the Orphanage, our fabulous guide took us by train.

This turned out to be a great experience of local rail travel, and a highlight for many. But the Orphanage itself was a letdown.

Said to be a conservation and educational centre, it looked more like a commercial zoo.

There were large crowds standing in the dust and heat with not a lot to see.

A group of elephants at the back of the complex had their legs chained. They seemed stressed and very fearful of their keepers.

Another elephant was being forcefully hosed down in front of the tourists but it didn’t seem to be enjoying the experience at all.

Not a good sign.

This optional tour, however, was a real highlight. We travelled in open-top 4WD Mohindra jeeps through the National Park.

Hundreds of elephants roamed the savannah and lake’s edge.

There was abundant other wildlife with eagles, ibis, strutting peacocks, brahminy kites, woolly neck storks and spoonbills.

Caribou and small groups of hunting jackals were also spotted.

And to top it off whilst driving home, our traffic was stopped by a lone elephant strutting its stuff along the main road.

This is Sri Lanka.

Just priceless!

The oils and drinks made from them appeared to cure almost any illness.

The tour included free half-hour Ayurvedic massages (although tips were expected).

But then we were split up into individuals or pairs (against our wishes) and escorted through the shop.

What followed was a hard personalized sell of over-priced Ayurvedic products.

A great shame as everyone reported being harassed to buy, at times quite rudely.

This was a guided tour of the historic UNESCO World Heritage-listed fortress.

The mix of Asian and European architecture has evolved since the 1500s.

Wander along fabulous three-century-old streets, through the Old Gate, past the Dutch Reformed Church, New Orient Hotel to the Galle Lighthouse.

Shop in the boutique shops of the Dutch Hospital Shopping Complex and stop at a lovely restaurant for some local food or drink to cool off.

Read this post for more things to do in Colombo .

Our itinerary ‘evolved’ out of the advertised Tripadeal one.

We had a great tour guide who occasionally took it upon himself to suggest changes if it suited the group.

Or if the weather was too inclement for planned excursions.

He thus recommended NOT to pre-book (and pay for) Optional excursions prior to starting the trip.

One such example was our Day 3.

We didn’t actually travel to the ancient city of Polonnaruwa .

This became an optional tour which clashed with an opportunity to do the Minneriya Elephant Safari and that turned out to be one of the group’s top highlights.

He also arranged a free tour of an orphanage school in Kandy.

This totally delighted the group, especially the retired teachers amongst us.

And he made the pain of tipping a breeze.

We each contributed one amount to him to cover our whole week of gratuities.

Then he arranged all the tipping in our hotels and restaurants.

So much easier and less stressful than trying to work with foreign currency and local habits!

1- Review of Standard and Premium Hotel Rooms

Having both standard and premium hotels each night was not ideal. The tour group was constantly split up. This limited any ability to socially mix at the end of the day during meal times.

It also meant more driving, with different drop-offs at night and in the mornings.

In fact, everyone commented that there was very little difference between the two hotel standards in Sri Lanka. Perhaps with two exceptions.

2- Colonial-Style Accommodation Appeals

In Kandy, most of the group preferred the heritage Hotel Suisse. This was in comparison to the more upmarket and minimalistic Ozo Kandy. Both were on the lake’s edge and 10 mins walk from the city centre.

But Hotel Suisse was a beautiful heritage colonial-style hotel set in 4 acres of tropical gardens. Its amazing original ballroom served as the restaurant. And the decor of the hotel, rooms, and elevators transported you back in time.

3- Include Traditional Stilt Fishing in the package

The older motel-style standard hotel in Koggala was certainly substandard to the much more upmarket premium choice. But the latter was quite a few km out of town.

Whilst both were beachfront, the standard hotel was in Koggala. It was also only 200m walk from where a few traditional pole fishermen were.

It was a real bonus to witness this as stilt fishing is a dying south coast Sinhalese tradition. We would certainly recommend including it in the package if possible. Even if it is generally posed for tourists.

  • The Minneriya Elephant Safari was terrific and would a great addition to any future itinerary.
  • Parts of the tour we wouldn’t recommend? The Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage got a definite general thumbs down.
  • As for the Royal 100 Spice and Herbal Garden. A tour of a Sinhalese spice garden is a great idea given Ceylon’s history of spices. However, there is a definite need to change the venue. I certainly wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

Tripadeal Maldives 6 Day Stay

TripADeal Maldives Adaaran Rannalhi Resort Sunset photo collage

The Adaaran Club Rannalhi resort was a 45min fast boat ride from Male Airport.

The marina was also right outside the airport.

The crystal clear, azure blue waters were stunning, and that was just in the harbour!

Once on the island and in your room, time stops.

Time to chill, grab a sun lounge or a hammock, and relax.

Thumbs down – TripADeal Maldives 6 Day Stay

Standard rooms came with the Tripadeal package.

We personally scored a room on the east side but the beach there is sand-bagged due to strong wave action. And the afternoon shade hits these rooms from about 3 to 4 pm.

So, if possible, request the west side of the island.

It has much longer daylight hours with great sunsets.

However, the resort staff was very supportive of any request to change rooms.

Some even chose to upgrade to the overwater bungalows as they become available.

Thumbs up – TripADeal Maldives 6 Day Stay

Lunches and dinners were generally not included in Sri Lanka.

But all meals (5 a day) in the Maldives were included.

Plus, there was an all-inclusive drinks package.

Yes, wine, champagne, beer, and cocktails. Here’s to sundowners!

The restaurant was smorgasbord style with too many choices at each meal, both traditional and international fare.

Our group was placed together at each sitting too.

This was much appreciated by all given our separation in Sri Lanka.

Morning and afternoon snacks were also available at the two bars around the island. And Wifi was accessible in the reception, restaurant, and both bars.

Small coral reefs were within 100-200m of the rooms.

Although severely bleached, coral fish were in abundance.

From clownfish, angelfish, and triggerfish, to a resident moray eel and an amazing friendly hawksbill turtle.

Optional excursions included snorkelling out at sea in a traditional dhoni.

Scuba diving, fishing trips, spinner dolphin, manta and whale shark tours were also available.

As well as the usual watercraft for hire.

Namely, kayaks, stand up paddleboards, jet skis, and catamarans.

What GREAT value for money.

A google search quoted our room that same week at $500-$650 per night.

Yet our Tripadeal package included 7 nights, with all transfers and an all-inclusive food and beverage deal. Amazing!

A restful week on the island was also greatly appreciated after the extensive high paced tour of Sri Lanka.

Doing so much in such a short time with virtually different hotels every night can be quite tiring.

Placing the Maldives Stay at the end of the package was brilliant thinking!

10 Day 2 For 1 Borneo

Cost: $3999

Big nose proboscis monkey Labuk Bay Borneo

This Tripadeal review is about an offer that looked too good to resist.

We had experienced orangutan volunteering in Indonesian Borneo where we visited Balikpapan and worked with rescued orangutans but Malaysia and Borneo were totally unknown to us.

We travelled with Tripadeal in May 2018.

Our 8-day route covered the capital city Kota Kinabalu to Sandakan in east Sabah.

Booking the trip was easy and uncomplicated.

The quoted price included international flights, accommodation and virtually all our meals.

Bottled water was provided free and in abundance by our tour guide.

Dehydration in the hot and humid climate is a no-no, so personal hydration is a must.

We also usually had access to free tea and coffee wherever we stayed.

Our 8 days on this TripAdeal Borneo holiday were packed with included activities and excursions and we soon discovered there were plenty of things to do in Sabah .

There was little spare time to chill or relax.

We covered a lot of territory in our coach with 28 other adventurers.

Highlights Of Our TripADeal Borneo Tour

TripADeal Borneo Mari Mari Island photo collage

A tour of the largest most modern city.

An insight to compare with home, with waterfront walks, busy markets, and various malls.

A particular highlight was the City Mosque or White Floating Mosque of traditional Moorish architecture, it is built on a platform in the middle of a reflective lake.

Via short ferry from Jesselton Point Jetty, Kota Kinabalu – a tropical island ‘paradise’.

A few hours to chill and relax by the azure-coloured water’s edge.

All under the cover of lush palm trees with a stunning island treehouse setting and Malaysian style smorgasbord lunch.

Shame about the floating plastic mimicking jellyfish.

Or the derelict beached fishing boat and rubber tires masked as plant holders. And the piles of discarded empty sacks of biscuit flour (contents ‘Vitamin C and benzoyl peroxide’) at both ends of the beach.

A 3 hr visit with a local dinner and cultural performance.

A delight to see and experience local traditions and foods.

Evil rainforest insects though. Super strength insect repellent is a must!

A shortstop passing through the Crocker Range with stunning Mt Kinabalu and National Park in the background.

Great for local food tasting, local handicrafts and cheap T-shirts for presents.

A guided walk through the rather stunning rainforest.

A taste of some Mt Kinabalu park trails and the Summit & Climbathon route to the top of the mountain (4095m).

A self-guided tour of the Memorial to the infamous 250km death marches from Sandakan to Ranau.

Two gardens commemorate the Australian and English POW’s who died.

The Borneo Garden is for the locals who helped them.

The Contemplation Garden honours all the victims of these horrors of war.

The Australian Memorial Hall was full of emotive memorabilia.

A Channel 9 Jana Wendt documentary video about the death marches brought tears to everyone’s eyes.

We even met Mr Sevee Charuruks, a great honour, a Thai national who was instrumental in restoring the Memorial in 2005.

He still works in the souvenir shop café, along with his family and grandchildren.

The beautiful tea gardens overlook Mt Kinabalu, great for photos.

The informative tour of the factory of Borneo’s top tea producer was hard to hear because of the loud machines.

Just don’t lean on anything green that may look freshly painted.

It probably is. Warning signage is not a Borneo thing!

Our heavily accented tea guide was very difficult to understand. But the tea tasting at the end was very enjoyable. And many of us purchased various Sabah tea product souvenirs.

Not what you would expect in a western world spa.

Definitely third world in its execution.

Hundreds of (large) fish hilariously nibbling your feet and legs at the edges of the river.

The locals look on and laugh!

Experience a beautiful three-course lunch in a classic colonial heritage house and gardens. Takes you back to the good ol’ days of English occupation.

A self-guided tour of remnants of the actual World War II Sandakan POW camp.

Dedicated to those who died in the Sandakan Death Marches to Ranau.

A circular route through restful rainforest gardens. See original remnants of an excavator and the steam generator.

A beautiful Memorial Pavilion and nearby Memorial Obelisk complete the park.

Very emotional and moving.

Labuk Bay Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary

A personal highlight was to experience a feeding session of wild proboscis monkeys.

From a seemingly quiet and empty rainforest to feeding platforms full of troops of big-nosed proboscis monkeys.

A photographer’s delight!

Cruise along the river from a local Muslim fisherman’s village on an authentic fishing longboat.

More wild proboscis monkeys. And sparkling fireflies in the bushes along the river’s edge.

A sunset return for a traditional dinner cooked and served by village ladies.

Soup, fish, vegetables, chicken and pineapple curry with refreshingly cold rose water to drink.

Another personal highlight, this visit starts with an introduction video about the wildlife.

Then go on your self-guided tour to feeding platforms and an Outdoor Nursery.

The latter has both air-conditioned and open-air viewing rooms.

Both provide slightly different angles of viewing the juvenile orangs, which is especially important for photography with ever-changing sunlight, reflections, and shadows through the glass.

We were even lucky enough to meet a young male orangutan walking along our boardwalk handrail.

Talk about an up close and personal experience. Memorable!

The informative guided garden tour was fascinating.

A great introduction to many tropical plants, herbs, and spices. But the highlight was the rainforest canopy walk.

The view of the top of the rainforest was amazing. As was the birdlife we encountered along the way.

A tour of the world-famous bat and cockroach-ridden caves.

Another personal bucket list item. And we were not disappointed.

Although we did miss the wild orangutan hanging in the forest along the boardwalk.

Similarly back at the educational exhibition area on the way to the cave. Aaargh!

Included were sunrise and sunset river cruises along a remote stretch of this river.

Stunningly mesmerising in the middle of the Borneo jungle.

Listen to sounds of monkeys howling and birdlife calling as numerous hornbills fly overhead.

The included daytime jungle walk was hot and humid, consequently, little wildlife was seen.

But the optional nighttime walks were a different story.

From Malay and Palm civets to a rare mouse deer and skunk, as well as sleeping kingfishers and a Draco flying lizard.

So worth braving a few forest leeches…

  • Camera Fees – Local government bodies charge ‘camera fees’ at certain excursions. Included were: Gomantong caves, Labuk Bay Monkey Sanctuary, and the Orang-utan/Sun Bear Centre. But at only a few dollars at each site, they were more than worth it. And phone cameras were exempt.
  • Optional Tours – We paid about AUD $10 each to experience the evening guided rainforest tours at Bilit. What we saw in insects and birdlife was well worth the leech attacks!
  • Sundry Items – Alcohol and other drinks, a local Malaysian tourism tax ($3 per room per night) and tips.

Well, to be honest, there were very few.

  • The coach was very comfortable and air-conditioned. Toilet and food stops were regular.
  • Similarly, the accommodation was 4 star in the city and towns. Our rooms were nice and clean, with air-conditioning and swimming pools. In the Borneo jungle, it was 2-3 star. But there was nothing higher in these remote areas. As one could imagine.
  • Where possible, we experienced traditional British colonial-style hotels. Our Sepilok Jungle Resort was right next to the Orangutan and Sun Bear Sanctuary. And our authentic jungle lodge was in a remote riverine rainforest area on the Lower Kinabatangan River.
  • Most noticeably, the food. Well, that was fantastic. We experienced abundant local traditional fare. But there was always international food if you wanted it.
  • Furthermore, the currency exchange makes travelling here very cheap. Food, tips, and drinks were only equivalent to a few dollars. This was a great bonus as the Australian dollar went a long way.

However, one relatively unfit, medically challenged elderly couple did comment: “There was too much sightseeing and walking, especially in the humidity and heat”, and: “Wildlife did not particularly interest us”.

So, if you fall into this same category, perhaps this Tripadeal Borneo 2 for 1 trip may not be the tour for you.

All in all, this was an AMAZING trip. Everyone commented on how much we had seen and experienced.

The wildlife, in particular, was stunning. We even saw wild orangs outside our rooms at the Bilit Adventure Lodge, with numerous wild proboscis monkeys on the river cruises.

However, Sabah’s rare pygmy elephants remained elusive. Just another reason to re-visit one day, I guess!

So if you want value for money, wildlife galore and a true authentic Borneo experience? Then you could not do any better than book this trip.

I'm sitting at the airport waiting to start our 35 day round the world trip with Tripadeal and praying and hoping that we have done the right thing. Reading these negative reviews isn't helping. So far the company has been spot on with booking, etc.the only negative was absolutely no help whatsoever with visas. Part of the trip includes Chile where you need a police check and then Visa application and both are very costly for only 2 days in Chile. Even after a phone call to them they told us they didn't know if we needed one or how to apply.

We used TripaDeal for our alaskan cruise that goes up the inside passage on the Queen elizabeth. We did not have one problem with the company and were absolutely satisfied with the trip and the price. Flew straight to Vancouver even though we were told there would be a stopover before Vancouver. Air canada. Which was great. And then an upgrade on the cruise. So all in all a very very good trip without any problems. Thanks guys. Well done

Luxury Sri Lanka was anything but!

The luxury hotels it turns out are anything but - ignore your itinerary as after the first two hotels we didn’t have any of the named ones. We were stung for a high season surcharge but it didn’t ensure we got decent hotels. If you like mould growing down the walls, soggy carpets, black mould growing on the aircons, sewerage stink in your room and a clapped out coach then this is for you! Yes, I have photos. TripADeal takes no responsibility for any of this - they simply blame the Sri Lankan suppliers. I was offered $200 travel credit with a company I would never, ever use again. Couples on our trip moved 5 times in the one hotel to try and get a mould free room! Others have also lodged complaints and been fobbed off! The local restaurant stops for lunch are local supermarkets - great if you want packaged, highly processed junk food. Do yourself a favour and choose anyone else!

Reply from TripADeal

Hey Elouise, Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback and we're sorry to hear that you were not happy with the standard of hotel accommodation on your recent trip to Sri Lanka. To date, we've not received feedback from others in your touring group in regards to the accommodation. We can see that you've been in touch with the feedback team and shared some more details there, which is where the offer of credit has come from. We do hope you are able to make use of it, we have a raft of hotel offers that do not have tours associated with them if that is more your preference. We would love the chance to restore your faith in our brand. Kind regards TripADeal Team

12 day Vietnam Trip

We just returned from a 12 day Vietnam trip, everything went smooth. A small hiccup with the airline ticket was fixed up quickly by TripADeal. Nhan Garven, the most fantastic Tour Guide went above and beyond what's required (pick him if you can)

Date of experience : 23 August 2024

Hi Kurt, Thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience on your Vietnam tour with us. We're thrilled to hear everything went smoothly, with a shoutout to your fantastic guide Nhan Garven. We're lucky to work with our amazing tour operators in Vietnam, and we'll be sure to pass on your kind words to him. We hope to see you soon for another epic adventure! Warm Regards, TripADeal Team

Rub their hands of airline cancellations

Good value for money package, however when the airline cancelled a flight and rescheduled to 2 days later, TripA deal were unwilling to help, stating it was in the T&Cs. So their use of a 3rd party somehow became my problem! They can rebook with another airline, but at my cost!

Date of experience : 28 August 2024

Hi Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We can appreciate your frustration with changed flights, as you can appreciate we are unable to control changes made by airlines. We're working hard to get through all the changes with as little impact to touring as possible. We understand your disappointment and also appreciate your patience while we finalise all the details. Kind regards TripADeal Team

Save yourself a lot of unnecessary stress and go with a company you can trust. Not tripadeal.

My ultimate China tour which I bought in 2020 was cancelled due to border closures. I was given a voucher less than the entire cost. I waited for a similar tour to become available by the voucher expiry date. Borders had opened but nothing remotely similar became available. SURPRISE, just weeks after, almost an identical tour became available. I phoned to plead that I could change the tour that I reluctantly booked, to one similar to the original. It was 15months away from the date of the tour. Ample time. I was told no. When I researched the added expenses related to simply getting to the location of the tour, I realised I could not afford it. Tripadeal asked for documentation proving this. I gave them government documentation proving it. After giving them all relevant information, they have withheld 90% of my money. Their behaviour is unacceptable. They will take your money. Even though on their website they state if you have proof of financial inability to pay, you will get a refund, you will not!! I was told by one of their representatives that they don't tell you how much refund. I have never dealt with a company like this. Save yourself a lot of stress and go through a company that doesn't have far more negative reviews than positive. Looking on Facebook paints them in such a positive light. No negative reviews, because it's an advertisement. You can't leave a review when it's an advertisement.

Date of experience : 01 September 2024

Hi Wendy, Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback. We're sorry to hear that you've been disappointed with the service and apparent limitations on your booking. We've had a chance to have a look into this, and can see that you're voucher had a validity of over 12 months. You mentioned in your review that you were keen to do a similar trip to the one you had booked to China, however on the order the notes from a phone call with you state you were interested in Greece, Turkey and Israel, so maybe there has been some confusion? In order to secure such competitive prices, all payments are transferred at the time of purchase. Which means it is not possible to transfer customers from one deal to another. If you would like to discuss this further, please do not hesitate to contact us at [email protected] Kind regards TripADeal Team

Changed trip

In January we purchased a 2 for 1 Trip to Europe through Trip-A-Deal and right from the start they were very professional, friendly and easy to deal with (Jasmine arranged the initial trip booking) Recently, we were forced to make a (previously-unplanned) change to our October booking, even though it was very late to do so. This was a very stressful time for us and we were again very pleasantly surprised with the staff at Trip-A-Deal. Miriam V was our contact this time and she was so understanding and helpful, and made the necessary arrangements with a minimum of fuss and with our best interests at heart. We can't speak highly enough about Miriam's professionalism and the very personable manner in which she addressed our situation Good on you, Miriam V!!!

Date of experience : 22 August 2024

Hi TC, Thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience with Miriam and the team. I have been reading all these reviews

I have been reading all these reviews, some good and some really bad. I'm about to embark on my first Trip a Deal trip and am having mixed feelings. I hope we do not encounter any problems at our age. We are doing a 28 day Iberian Delights cruise leaving from Amsterdam on 7/9 and from Melbourne on 4/9. We have a couple of layovers so hopefully everything runs smoothly.

I am Ali Kian Mehr

I am Ali Kian Mehr. I bought a trip for my daughter and her fiancé last year. Unfortunately, things did not go well and they broke up and obviously my daughter was not in a situation to go to this trip by herself. I contacted TripADeal team 5 month prior to the trip and informed them. I did not expect a refund but asked them to give me a credit instead to use that. The response was that it is not our policy and even if you want to change people or time u need to pay around the value that you already paid. Later on around 3 months after my first contact I received an email about my itinerary and flight. This was my first experience with TripADeal. I felt just saying it is not our policy or rules is not satisfactory. We can have a terrible rules which are not right e.g. slavery was a rule once. I therefore have enough reason not to choose or recommend TripADeal at all particularly when other providers such as Trafalgar get a very small deposits until 2 month prior to trip. It shows that it would have been possible to give me a credit at least some companies are capable of doing this

Date of experience : 01 April 2024

Hi Ali, Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback and we are sorry about the situation with your daughter. While we can empathise with your daughter, we are bound by the terms and conditions that are set out, and made available to the purchaser before sale. In order to provide such great deals at such competitive prices, it often means the outlay to our travel partners happens very early on in the process to secure the trip. It also means, we're able to often provide current prices, for future travel. We've had a look at your order and can see that it was never actually cancelled, which is why the tickets were sent out. We can see that our flight team sent a quote to change the name on one of the tickets, and there was no reply from yourself, despite three voicemails being left and an email sent. We've only cancelled the order in the last 36 hours as we were contacted by the Airline and Property as you were a no-show.  We apologise the options offered were not what you would have liked, however all of our terms and conditions are clearly outlined and accepted at the time of purchase.  Should you wish to discuss this further, please do not hesitate to contact the team at [email protected] Kind regards TripADeal Team

Tripadeal needs to learn to respect customers

Tripadeal needs to learn to respect people as individuals with their own needs. Travellers have to be Qantas members to book but this is not honoured in return. When we booked we paid extra for living in Adelaide and also paid a large amount to upgrade to business class. We also said we wanted to fly with Qantas partners to secure our membership status and who we didn't want to fly with. This was not respected with one of our flights. Flights are not discussed with the customer or negotiated as other cut price companies do. They don't even put your members numbers in the booking! We also lost our preferred booking date because the 'consultant' wouldn't put the booking in and we had to find a way of getting someone else to book it. They also NEVER ring you back even though they say they will. In reply to this review Tripadeal has suggested we buy another ticket on a flight of our choice. No suggestion of a refund of money already paid.

Date of experience : 29 March 2024

Hi Anne, Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback, we're sorry to hear you're disappointed with the flights. Without your order details, we are unable to look into this further. If you would like to email [email protected] we would be happy to get someone to give you a call back to discuss your flights. Regards TripADeal Team

First time traveling with Trip a Deal and would recommend!

First time traveling with Trip a Deal. My trip to Sri Lanka was exceptional. Our guide Nuwan, his driver and assistant made the experience even more enjoyable - they showed genuine care, exceptional knowledge and made sure every person in the group felt listened to and where possible, catered for each small requirements like going to the post office. Thank you trip a deal for someone like Nuwan. After reading many bad reviews, I have to say I am unsure about Trip a Deal, perhaps I got lucky this time. But I can guarantee you will have a great trip if you choose Sri Lanka.

Date of experience : 20 July 2024

Hi Kli, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience from your first trip with us to Sri Lanka! We couldn't be more pleased to know you had such an amazing time, with special thanks to your guide Nuwan, and your driver. We're lucky to work with the best tour operators in the business across all of our deals. We hope we get the chance to welcome you on another bucket list holiday soon, with a guide just as great as Nuwan! Warm Regards, TripADeal Team

Wonderful Turkey, But Not Trip A Deal

To highlight the positive aspects: our guide Usuf was incredibly friendly and attentive, fellow travellers added to the experience, and Turkey was fantastic, thrilling, and completely safe. However, dealing with the challenges posed by Trip A Deal was the downside. We joined the 2 for 1 Turkiye “Discover Türkiye's amazing landscapes & rich history when you visit Istanbul, Gallipoli, Cappadocia & more” trip. At first glance, it sounded amazing – "Your adventure begins in the vibrant city of Istanbul, where you'll be mesmerized by its bustling markets, historic sites, and stunning architecture. See the iconic Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, and Topkapi Palace, and immerse yourself in the city's unique blend of Eastern and Western influences." Although everything sounded great, the reality was different. The unique blend of Eastern and Western influences turned out to be a hotel located 30 minutes from the Bosphorus, where the best restaurant offered a view of a construction site and a pack of nine stray dogs. This was the essence of the entire trip and the reason for its low price. Instead of staying close to the attractions and culture, we were isolated in some remote hotel with limited dining options. For example, Cannakale was 27 minutes away from town, tucked behind a freeway. Cappadoccia was 15 minutes by car from the nearest sites. While it may seem trivial, these stops and the choice of lunchtime roadside stops deprived us of the opportunity to truly explore the vibrant and exciting culture. Instead, we were confined to buffets and suburban boredom. Lastly, it's important to note that the flights were also a concern. There was no assistance provided, even if the flights were arranged through Trip A Deal. So, while they may offer great prices, the experiences did not live up to our expectations.

Date of experience : 06 August 2024

Hi Anthony, Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback, we're so pleased you enjoyed the legend that is Usuf, we're lucky to work with some of the best in the business. Turkiye as thrilling is such a wonderfully accurate description and we're so pleased you enjoyed this wonderful country and felt safe. We're sorry to hear the locations of the hotels didn't quite hit the mark for you, we work hard to find suitable properties that can accommodate groups and provide a consistent standard of stay. Sometimes this means they might be a little further out. We do suggest people do some exploring and jump into ride shares. We hope, on the whole, the positives outweighed the negatives, Kind regards TripADeal Team

I should have read these reviews

I should have read these reviews , we booked a 2 4 1 deal thinking it was a good deal. Please don’t book one you will have to keep chasing the details and when you get your flights they are a joke …. Pay extra to fly from brisbane but instead of direct they put you Bris - melb- ho chi min - Hanoi 24 hours plus waiting and travel time - arrive at midnight to the hotel get up start your first thing in the morning ! Absolutely ridiculous and talk to the staff they don’t care and are rude it’s like bad luck we have the money

Date of experience : 09 August 2024

Hi Travel Girl, Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback, and we're sorry to hear you were not happy with the flights for your trip. We work hard to try and ensure we are able to secure allocations on flights that will have customers arriving into the destination on or around the same time. Sometimes, this can mean connecting domestic flights to join departures from other cities that fit within the scheduling. The extra to fly from Brisbane can be in order to cover the cost of the domestic flight or as a result of airport taxes. Despite the flights, we hope you enjoyed Vietnam itself, it is a truly wonderful country with great food, people and scenery. Kind regards TripADeal Team

Pathetic, untimely, ambivalent service

Booked and pre-paid a trip to Japan and South Korea with this company. On Thursday the 8th of August, Japan suffered earthquakes. And Japanese Government Seismolgists placed Japan on mega quake alert. I tried to contact trip-a-deal five times on Friday to see if our trip to Japan was still leaving later this week. No one was staffing their online chat service. I rung their contact number five times, and could only speak to an operator if I was enquiring about an advertised deal, my Qantas frequent flyer points or if I was departing in the next 24 hours. I requested call back, I got an email to say some-one would call back but never did. I sent an email, and got an email back, saying we acknowledge you contacted us! DFAT Smart Traveller has advised earthquakes are likely in most parts of Japan this week. Yet, Trip-A-Deal management sits in their air-conditioned offices, ambivalent- and still can't decide if our tour group is departing from Melbourne for Japan in the next coming days! Trip A Deal to this day has never advised my-self or our group that Japan is suffering earthquakes and our trip may be compromised.

Hi Bethamy, Thanks so much for taking the time to share your feedback, and we're sorry to hear you're anxious about your trip. We hope the recent news of Japan has lifted the Mega Quake warning. We are sorry you were unable to get hold of the team, we understand we've since been in touch on the phone and you've had a chance to air you concerns. Rest assured, customer safety is and always be our number one priority. We do hope you can now go back to getting excited for your Japan and South Korea trip! Kind regards TripADeal Team

Used them to purchase NRL tickets and…

Used them to purchase NRL tickets and accommodation. After taking $5500 they advise me the website was wrong and the deal was no longer available. Have been waiting 10 days so far for a refund. Have logged a complaint with both visa and the Nz commerce commission.

Date of experience : 23 July 2024

Hi Carrie, Sorry for the error with your booking. In this instance the deal should not have appeared on the site and we apologise for getting your hopes up. In regards to the refund, these can take 30-60 days and we appreciate your patience while this is being processed. We hope we have a new deal soon that appeals and we can get a holiday into the calendar! Kind regards, TripADeal Team

Trip a deal is so cheap because they…

Trip a deal is so cheap because they leave no room for any unforeseen problems. Sickness , change of circumstances , change of passport details. If you want to change the ticket into any ones name , it will cost you the price of the ticket. I purchased and paid for the ticket a year in advance, using a NZ passport. I tried several times before the ticket details were given to me, to get the correct details of the flight. I wanted to get a visa for China. Unfortunately I was not given enough time to complete the visa. I think it was there fault for not giving me time to get a visa. I actually had to get an Australian passport as well, which came too late. At the very least they could have changed the flight details or given me credit. I was out of pocket for two people and expenses.

Date of experience : 23 May 2024

Hi Terry, Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback. We're sorry to hear you were unable to obtain a Visa for China. We would be really keen to find out more details about this, as we've never had a customer unable to get a Visa in the time from receiving travel packs to travel. Can you please send it through to [email protected] Regards TripADeal Team

Name change rip off

I recently bought a trip to China with Tripadeal and have been told I put my middle name in the nickname line and it's going to cost me $1200 to change my name this is$300 more than the original price of the ticket which is exorbitant. Why do they have a nickname line in the first place. When I questioned them I was told I was the 3rd person that day to ring with the same complaint. I looked up China Eastern terms and conditions and they charge $200 for a name change. I have been in contact with the ACCC and Consumer Affairs and they both agree that this is exorbitant and I explained Tripadeal has a pop up screen which lasts for 1 second so no time to read it. This is extremely unfair and caused me a a huge amount of stress and anxiety. In would not use Tripadeal in future and in an still trying to get some help to resolve this in a fair and reasonable way

Date of experience : 07 August 2024

Hey Fiona, Thanks for taking the time to share your frustrations. We can see that you left the 'second name' field blank on the Passenger Information Form, which means we ticketed based on the information that had been provided. Seeing as it is not a correction, it is the addition of a new name to the booking, it does cost more than it normally would. We do ask customers to check and double check their Passenger Information Forms before submitting as the information is used for ticketing. This is not a pop-up message, rather a static message in a blue box under the heading IMPORTANT INFORMATION. We are sorry this has happened and we hope you are able to still enjoy your trip. Please don't hesitate to contact us at [email protected] should you wish to discuss this further. Kind regards TripADeal Team
