Inside Novak Djokovic’s Worldly Real Estate Portfolio

By Joyce Chen

Novak Djokovic has earned 23 Grand Slam titles throughout his tennis career.

Only the best for the best. As of June 2023, Novak Djokovic officially broke the record for most weeks as the world’s number one tennis player—378—beating out longtime record-holder Steffi Graf. The Serbian-born athlete began his professional career in 2003, quickly rising the ranks in the international tennis scene to join the likes of Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal as one of the most dominating players in the game. He has since propelled himself to the next level of superstardom, earning his 10th Australian Open title and a record-breaking 23rd major title at the French Open in early 2023. Given his incredible international accomplishments, it should come as no surprise that Djokovic has invested plenty of his fortune in luxury real estate around the globe, with homes in Monte Carlo, Miami, New York City, Marbella, and even his hometown of Belgrade. Below, take a peek inside the stunning residences that Djokovic has called home over the years.

Early 2000s

Following the lead of numerous pro athletes like Stefanos Tsitsipas and Caroline Wozniacki, Djokovic picked up a residence in Monte Carlo for an undisclosed amount shortly after going pro in 2003 . According to reports, the athlete began spending a significant amount of time in the picturesque locale when he was 17 due to his tournaments and his coach’s residence there. What little is known of the property includes that it rests on a hill overlooking the Mediterranean sea, and that Djokovic considered it his main residence for about 15 years before relocating to Spain in 2020.

In Monte Carlo, the pro athlete frequented the Monte-Carlo Country Club, telling Yahoo! News in 2023 , “It is a club I know very well. Quite a few top players reside in Monaco and use this club as a training base. The club transforms incredibly during the weeks of the tournament, but it is a great feeling to sleep in your own bed.” He still owns this property.

Djokovic flexed his real estate muscle more than a decade later with the purchase of two separate units in a Renzo Piano–designed building in NYC’s SoHo neighborhood for a combined total of more than $10 million. The two-bedroom condos were situated in different parts of the building, quashing any rumors that the athlete was planning to combine them into one home. At the time of purchase, the two units, each measuring 2,000 square feet, were still under construction, but reports since then have highlighted 10-foot-tall ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows, heated floors, and a private elevator entrance. Some units in the building even reportedly boast their own swimming pools and terraces. Djokovic likely still owns these two homes.

That same year, the tennis pro shelled out $5.77 million for a penthouse in another Renzo Piano–designed building, this time in Miami. “I love the design of these two buildings and their location is fantastic,” Djokovic said in a statement at the time. “Both New York and Miami are on my travel list every year, and it will be exciting to have a place to come back to.” The impressive glass-fronted condo measured 2,421 square feet and featured three bedrooms and three-and-a-half bathrooms, with unobstructed views of the Atlantic Ocean. Building amenities included a plunge and infinity pool, a library, and a state-of-the-art gym and spa. Djokovic never actually spent time in the home, however; it completed construction in December 2019 and he promptly listed it for $7.15 million just one month later. The pad finally sold the following year right after his 19th Grand Slam title at Roland Garros, for slightly less than asking at $6 million .

Djokovic’s next real estate purchase took him back to his roots in Belgrade, Serbia. There, he picked up a penthouse apartment overlooking Lake Pavlova for $675,000. The unit features three bedrooms and three-and-a-half bathrooms, a large living room, and a terrace with a pool. The tennis pro reportedly invested a good amount of time and money into modernizing the pad much as he had also, over the years, been using his success to help bolster Serbia as a tourist destination. In 2009, for instance, Djokovic and his family built the Novak Tennis Center, which features 14 courts—11 of which are clay—meant to serve as both a tourist attraction and a local gathering spot. Other Djokovic-inspired points of interest include Novak 1 Cafe & Restaurant, opened by his parents after his career success, and Square Nine, the city’s only luxury five-star hotel, where Djokovic reportedly stayed with his family while his apartment was undergoing renovations.

Djokovic’s latest purchase is also his newest home base: a $10 million Moroccan-style mansion in Marbella, Spain. The tennis champion’s residence comprises nine bedrooms and eight bathrooms, and he’s shared some peeks into his home through his Instagram posts (especially given that he and his family hunkered down there for the majority of the pandemic). Glimpses into the home reveal marble floors , crystal chandeliers , and open, arched doorways . There is also a massive home theater, a Turkish bath, a large indoor gym, and of course, a spacious tennis court where Djokovic has been known to practice tennis with his two young children.

Take a Tour of Novak Djokovic's New Miami Mansion–And All The Perks That Come With It

The tennis legend will call this mansion in the sky his "new retreat."

Those familiar with Novak Djokovic know all about his affinity for excellence–on and off the court. As a tennis legend that's considered one of the best to ever grace the court, clay or grass, Djokovic might just be one of sports' most beautiful men to boot. He's struggled with injuries as of late, the latest at the Miami Open which caused him to retire from the tournament, but while in town, it seemed he kept himself busy house hunting. Rather than purchase a home from another celeb or splurge on a hotel residence, Novak purchased his first stateside property in one of the city's most luxurious amenities buildings. Originally from Serbia, Djokovic and his wife, Jelena, call Monaco home, where they live with their 2-year old son, Stefan–but this stunning mansion in the sky might mean we'll be seeing more of Novak in the U.S. outside of the U.S. Open. Here, we took a tour of the pro's newest home in Miami, its modern decor and all its amenities.

The Location

Body of water, Coastal and oceanic landforms, Coast, Shore, Tower block, Condominium, Water, Metropolitan area, City, Waterway,

The building, an eco-conscious glass structure, fits perfectly with Novak's dedication to a clean lifestyle–the record-setting tennis player is known for his vegan, gluten-free diet and his preference for sustainable living, which might seem tough to achieve in a party city like Miami...until now.

The Living Room

Interior design, Glass, Table, Room, Furniture, Real estate, Apartment, Interior design, Restaurant, Daylighting,

When speaking to his decision to purchase property in the building, Djokovic noted his desire for peace and serenity at home. The property, set apart from the hustle of South Beach, allows for residents to escape from the city's fast-pace.

The Balcony

Property, Building, Room, Real estate, Apartment, House, Balcony, Interior design, Architecture, Floor,

While Novak has undoubtedly gorgeous views surrounding him at home in Monaco, there's not much comparison to the panoramic ocean views he'll get here–from the privacy of his family's own indoor/outdoor deck.

The Bedrooms

Room, Property, Building, Interior design, Furniture, Floor, House, Ceiling, Living room, Architecture,

The residence purchased by the number two player in the world (he held the number one ranking for 223 weeks prior) has 3 bedrooms, but if you wondered about the health and wellness guru's sleeping style, take notes. Looks like Djokovic will be falling asleep to the sound of waves and waking up to a never-ending horizon, paired with sleek, minimal yet cozy decor.

Resort, Property, Tree, Room, Real estate, Vacation, Furniture, Architecture, Design, Palm tree,

Should Novak tire of his own private balcony, he can retire to the building's communal deck for some sunbathing–without the fear that he'll lose the sense of calm and privacy his own condo offers.

Interior design, Floor, Property, Room, Architecture, Furniture, Table, Flooring, Real estate, Glass,

Djokovic's career extends far past the tennis court. The superstar player owns multiple restaurants in addition to a charity organization and has written books on healthy eating to boot. This contemporary dining area is ideal for hosting, or simply enjoying family dinners.

The Kitchen

Room, Property, Interior design, Building, Furniture, House, Balcony, Floor, Architecture, Suite,

To maintain a strict health regimen, a kitchen worth spending time in is key. The building's interiors were conceptualized and designed by RDAI, a firm globally recognized for their work with Hermès.

Just Outside the Kitchen...

In this building, families can choose to dine at their kitchen island, inside at the table or just outside the kitchen's glass walls.

The Enoteca

In the event that residents are looking for a night out, they can dine at the building's in-house enoteca...

The Gardens

While the property sits above two lush parks, Djokovic will receive a 'key to the park' which will provide access to the residents' gated private park on the North side of the building being sculpted by Dutch landscape firm West 8–renowned for their famed transformation of New York's Governor's Island.

The Look & Feel

Lobby, Building, Architecture, Tree, Lighting, Interior design, Design, Ceiling, Real estate, Mixed-use,

"I was inspired by the unmatched level of service, exclusive park access, in-house botanist, and panoramic views of both land and sea," said Novak Djokovic. "It all provides the perfect lifestyle for me and my wife Jelena."

The Design Aesthetic

Sky, Sea, Coast, Blue, Ocean, Beach, Shore, Property, Vacation, Architecture,

"I simply love the design of this building," said Novak. "This is an unexpected location in a neighborhood that's rapidly growing and that's what attracted me to buy here. It will be my new retreat."

Architecture, Swimming pool, Facade, Real estate, Commercial building, Resort, Composite material, Mixed-use, Door, Headquarters,

While the luxury building sits on the water, a pool (and a super chic one at that) is on the top of the lists of most Miami residents. This condominium is no different–and it's sleek yet over-the-top pool deck is to die for.

The Reflecting Pool

Architecture, Tree, Plant, Houseplant, Real estate, Landscape, Building, Interior design, Palm tree, Arecales,

For calm and serenity, residents can choose to visit the reflecting pool instead.

Lather, Rinse, Repeat.

Bathroom, Property, Room, Interior design, Tile, Architecture, Plumbing fixture, Floor, Tap, Building,

In case you were wondering what one of the pro-athlete's 3.5 bathrooms looks like. Epsom salt soak, anyone?

A Mansion in the Sky

Tree, Urban design, Architecture, Plant, Woody plant, Shrub, Landscape, Scale model, Real estate, Residential area,

The most exciting part of Novak's new building? It's yet to break ground–Eighty Seven Park will begin to take shape in April 2017, and luxury buyers around the world stand a chance to join Novak as one of the building's premiere residents.

Whenever the US Open taking place in New York, it's likely Djokovic would stay in one of his New York penthouses.

In 2017, he parted with £8.3million for TWO luxury apartments in the same building in the Big Apple.

Found at 565 Broome in New York City’s Soho neighbourhood, it was designed by famed architect Renzo Piano.

The two apartments were not adjacent, so he won't be able to combine them. However, they are said to be on the same floor.

Features include white oak floors, Balsatina lavastone kitchen worktops, custom-made furniture and heated floors.

While some of the apartments have their own swimming pools and terraces.

Shared amenities include a lounge with a library, an outdoor terrace, a large pool, a gym with a spa, a media room and an automatic parking with a private drive.

MONTE CARLO

Like many athletes, Djokovic has a home in Monaco.

Of course Monte Carlo is a high-profile tax haven, thanks to its personal and business tax laws and policies.

But it also offers a luxurious lifestyle, as well as a nice saving.

Not much is known about how much Djokovic paid for his hillside property, or its details.

However, we do know it faces the Mediterranean Sea, so it can't be too bad.

And he's also got the Monte Carlo Masters on his doorstep too.

Monte Carlo is home to the rich and famous

Should Djokovic return to his homeland, he has a penthouse in New Belgrade.

He reportedly loves to spend his summers there with his family, and it's easy to understand why.

The luxury home is built on the shores of the Pavlovac Lake.

There are three bedrooms, three bathrooms, huge dining room and kitchen, as well as a spacious parking lot.

On the terrace, there's even a swimming pool.

Real estate analysis of Djokovic’s house locations

Novak Djokovic has homes in some of the world’s most sought-after places. Each spot has its unique property market. Let’s look at three prominent locations:

Marbella, Spain

Current trend in the market:  More people want luxury seaside homes. There’s more investment outside Spain and a growing interest in green, eco-friendly homes.

Cost of homes : Fancy villas are between €10-15 million. Most homes cost around €700,000-€1.5 million.

Future prospects:  Slow but steady growth is likely. More tourists and international buyers want second homes here. Djokovic buying a villa in 2020 made Marbella even more famous for luxury homes.

Miami Beach, Florida

Current trend in the market:  The Miami area is booming, thanks to tech companies moving in, people with cryptocurrency money, and new luxury homes being built.

Cost of homes : Beachfront condos can go over $10 million. Average condos are about $1-2 million.

Future prospects:   Growth should continue to be strong, but things might slow down if interest rates go up a lot. Djokovic owning a beach condo here shows it’s a top choice for rich people.

New York City, Soho

Current trend in the market:   The luxury market is steady, with a focus on unique, miniature buildings and top-notch features. Soho is always in demand because it’s trendy and has a lot of culture.

Cost of homes : Penthouses can be $30-40 million. Average apartments in Soho are $2-4 million.

Future prospects:  Growth might be slower than in Miami, but prices should stay high because there aren’t many homes available, and it’s a prime spot. Djokovic owning an apartment here shows that Soho is still a favorite for famous people and investors.

Djokovic’s choice of homes mirrors more significant trends in luxury property. These places usually keep their value and grow over time because they are unique, offer lavish lifestyles, and attract buyers from all over. But what happens next depends on the overall economy and changes in the market.

You can understand why Djokovic selects certain places for his investments in luxury properties by looking at the markets and trends. This also helps you see how these choices fit into the larger picture of global luxury property investment.

Inside the stunning mansion used by Novak Djokovic during the US Open

New Jersey mansion used by Novak Djokovic when he is at the US Open

Novak Djokovic has been making regular visits to the US Open throughout his glittering career and he has found the perfect hideaway to stay at when he plays in the final Grand Slam of the year.

Most players stay at assigned hotels that provide accommodation for the vast army of visitors who descend on New York at this time of the year.

These hotels are set up to provide players with accommodation, food and transport to the tennis centre, but Djokovic does not mingle with the tennis bubble when he is at the US Open.

Instead, he has found a perfect spot to base himself in recent years, as he stays with a friend with stunning tennis facilities on site.

The property in Alpine, New Jersey is owned by Gordon Euhling III and includes tennis courts with different surfaces, including a clay court made up of clay from the same crushed-brick surface used at Roland Garros for the French Open.

There is also believed to be a state-of-the-art indoor court at the estate, complete with a line-calling technology system.

Djokovic and his large travelling team spend time in New York before the tournaments start to sample the unique atmosphere of the Big Apple, before moving to New Jersey to ensure he has the perfect setting to focus on his tennis.

“I combine the city with New Jersey,” Djokovic told NJ Advance Media.

“There’s so much to do and so much to see. Obviously, you have to balance it well with your commitments here on-site, training and preparing and recovering.”

“Normally before the tournament starts, I’m in the city. Then once the tournament starts, we go into full lockdown mode.

“My friend has a beautiful estate there with tennis courts.

“Just me and my family, we stay there. We have a relaxing time. It’s great in the off days between the matches, you just kind of recharge, rejuvenate, and you’re able to come out and have more energy.”

When asked why he varies his locations while he is in America, Djokovic suggested his pre-tournament mode changes when he needs to get down to business.

“I just feel like the city is amazing, but after a while, it starts being a distraction,” he added.

“When the tournament starts, what you need is the tranquillity, just taking things day by day.”

“Gordon is my best friend here in America for the last 15 years. I have always been kindly invited to stay at his place.

“His son, who’s now 14, is playing as well so my kids are friends with his children as well so it’s a great way for me to spend some quality time with my friends and family and recharge for the tough battles here in the Open.”

Djokovic with daughter Tara

Djokovic tends to travel with his parents and his wife Jelena, as well as an extended coaching, medical and wellness team.

The seclusion and security of the location in in Alpine ensures that Djokovic has no distractions as he looks to make more tennis history and he admits he can get tense during major tournaments.

“I care about this profession and I take it very seriously. I know a lot of the other players do too,” he told reporters at the US Open.

“We expect the highest levels of dedication from our team members, as they expect from us.

“Overall, we are a team and we stick together. We have had some tremendous success in the last couple of years and I am pleased with where I stand.

“Yes I can be difficult, but I don’t know a player who is playing at the highest level and everything is flowers and music.

“It has to be challenging for everyone, for the player and the coaching staff, or there is no growth.

“That’s how you push yourself to the limit. You need to understand how you can develop the game and how you can become better on and off the court.”

Novak djokovic’s marbella mansion, nyc’s luxe apartment , novak’s miami beach house , nole’s belgrade penthouse, novak djokovic’s childhood home, wait that’s not all, philanthropy through the novak djokovic foundation (ndf), tour your favourite sportsperson’s home.

Novak’s lavish mansion in Marbella consists of nine bedrooms, eight bathrooms, a game room, swimming pool, cinema room, gym, tennis court, on-site spa and a sauna. The star has given a glimpse of his beautiful house and tennis court practice sessions on Instagram. When the world was under lockdown, Nole used his living room as a court, batting the ball over an array of dining space chairs. Novak Djokovic’s house was converted into a training centre before he left for Melbourne.

Spirited artwork is something that Jelena and Novak must be in love with as it is spread across their home. A massive abstract painting is hung in the dining room with a sculpture of an animal right outside, covered in a bestrewn tint. The couple has a huge patio sofa set to enjoy the scenic views under the shaded terrace, surrounded by substantial white pillars.

The mansion consists of a huge hallway, with an extended staircase, whittled railings and a huge wooden front gate that looks extremely regal.

The star bought two condos in 565 Broome SoHo, in Pritzker Prize-winning architect Renzo Piano’s first residential project in New York. The 2000 square feet condos are not located next to each other and neither are combined into one single home.

The apartment has Parisian interiors along with customised cabinetry. The 30-storey glass tower fits huge windows to overlook the Manhattan skyline. This structure provides a spacious dimension to the apartment.

The residence includes a private terrace with a 25-foot saltwater lap pool along with a fitness centre, yoga studio, sauna and steam room.

In the Sunshine State, Nole selected the “sky villa”, a 3-bedroom unit on the 9th floor of his building overlooking the serene Miami Beach. Situated in Eighty-seven Park, Novak Djokovic’s house was reportedly acquired for $5.77 million. However, he listed the apartment for $7.15 million in June 2020 amidst the pandemic.

Djokovic reportedly spent 545,000 Euros on an extravagant three-bedroom penthouse back in 2018 in the Serbian capital of Belgrade. Reportedly, he likes to spend summers in the luxurious villa built on the shores of Pavlovac Lake. The penthouse stretches 250 metres high and consists of three bedrooms and bathrooms, a huge living room, a guest room, dining area, a parking lot along with a pool on the terrace. The tennis champion spends around 15,000 Euros a month for the maintenance and service once he is in for a stay at the penthouse.

In 2020, the star took Graham Bensinger for a stroll around his childhood home and neighbourhood. His modest Serbian household was nothing like his Marbella mansion. “I would take it away as a highlight of my childhood is always spending time out, playing sports, socialising with friends.” he said standing outside his apartment complex where he spent most of his time of the day.

The tennis Serbinator has been one of the most valuable athletes in the world and is reported to have a net worth of $220 million.

  • Djokovic is the brand ambassador of French car manufacturer Peugeot. He owns a Peugeot RCZ along with the limited edition e-208, which was gifted to him by the company. He also owns Mercedes S-500. Bentley GT, Aston Martin DB9, Tesla Model X and an Audi R8.

  • He signed a deal with the Swiss luxury brand Hublot, also endorsed by Seiko, a successful partnership. Seiko has introduced several special-edition watches under Novak Djokovic limited editions. When he is training, he wears a Sportura Chronograph. And when he attends an evening event, he wears a Premier Kinetic Perpetual.
  • He also owns a private jet that provides him with the mobility he requires from anywhere, at any desired time.

  • Novak ordered the luxe yacht “Manhattan 60”, that anchored in Monte Carlo. It reportedly cost him $2.5 million and hosts 4 cabins, a kitchen, salon, bathroom, jacuzzi, and a speed boat.
  • He also owns a house in Monte Carlo where he started living in 2005. The hill-side mansion is a safe haven for the athlete. The house offers a pristine view of the Mediterranean Sea.

  • He owns a Nutrition food line “Djokolife” which focuses on high-quality nourishments of the athletes.

Novak Djokovic's glamorous £8.5m Marbella mansion is an actual dream

From a tennis court to a spa.

novak djokovic home

Novak Djokovic has an impressive property portfolio that stretches from Serbia to America and even Marbella, where he owns a mansion that is reportedly worth €10 million (£8.5 million).

MORE: Novak Djokovic's modest childhood home is nothing like Marbella mansion

The Wimbledon star spent a lot of the pandemic in Marbella with his wife Jelena and children Stefan and Tara. The family previously lived in Monte Carlo for 15 years, but in December 2020, Novak is said to have made the decision to make their nine-bedroom Marbella home their primary residence.

It boasts eight bathrooms, a games room, a tennis court, and even an on-site spa. Take a look inside Novak Djokovic's regal home…

Novak's tennis court

The star has given glimpses into his home life via Instagram, including the picturesque location of the tennis court. The all-green sporting addition is in a sunken position and is surrounded by white pillars and idyllic palm trees.

During an IGTV, Novak revealed a quirky piece of art on his wall – a bright red and blue painted figure – which could be the star himself.

Novak's living room

During the lockdown period, Novak turned his living area into a tennis court, batting the ball over a collection of dining room chairs. Usually, the ornate-looking chairs are positioned around a vast dining table that has a decadent chandelier hanging above it.

They clearly have a penchant for vibrant artwork as there is a large abstract piece hanging on the wall in the dining room and there is a large animal statue splattered in paint.

Through the doors, fans can see that the family has a large outdoor sofa to enjoy the Spanish sunshine.

In a video of the couple dancing, posted by Jelena to mark her husband's birthday, they revealed large white pillars with a shielded terrace where the dining table and sofa were positioned.

The entranceway to their property is just as grand as the interiors, with huge castle-like wooden doors, black and white chequered floor tiles, and a gilded console table.

Jelena shared a look at their regal hallway when she cut Novak's hair during the lockdown. "From caveman to my man," she joked, with the clip revealing a large staircase with carved wooden bannisters and a floor-to-ceiling mirror.

Novak's games room

The tennis star's home comes complete with an extravagant games room. Whilst it's not known how Novak has decked out his plush room, we imagine the 36-year-old has transformed the luxe space into a truly unique space.

Why Novak Djokovic was right to have been awarded Laureus Sportsman of the Year Award 2024 award over Max Verstappen and Lionel Messi

A full house at the iconic Palacio de Cibeles in Madrid waited in anticipation of witnessing history as Novak Djokovic stepped up on the stage to receive the prestigious Laureus Sportsman of the Year Award for the fifth time in his career.

NFL legend, Tom Brady handed over the trophy to the Serbian, generating a thunderous applause from the crowd. Djokovic had edged modern sporting greats like Max Verstappen and Lionel Messi to the award, thanks to an incredible individual year.

Novak Djokovic was the face of men's tennis in 2023 as the Serbian superstar dominated the tour, winning three of the four Grand Slam titles. The 37-year-old was extremely close to winning the Calendar Slam but lost the Wimbledon final to Carlos Alcaraz .

However, three Major titles, along with the ATP Finals win and a couple of Masters titles, were enough to declare Djokovic as the best sportsman in the world in 2024. Novak Djokovic was a heavy favourite going into the event over his sporting rivals Lionel Messi and Max Verstappen , despite the duo having record-breaking years themselves.

Max Verstappen and Lionel Messi's 2023 season

Verstappen was considered the closest rival to Novak Djokovic for the Laureus Sportsman of the Year Award largely due to his impressive Formula 1 campaign. The Dutchman enjoyed unprecedented success in the 2023 season, dominating the grid with Red Bull's RB19 challenger. Verstappen won 19 out of 22 Grand Prix on his way to a third driver's championship. However, that was not enough for the 26-year-old to edge out Djokovic for the Laureus honour.

Verstappen has won the Laureus Sportsman of the Year Award in the past, when he won his first Formula 1 driver's championship during the controversial 2021 season. On that occasion, the Dutchman was nominated along with the likes of Novak Djokovic and Tom Brady , and got the most votes from his fellow sports players. This time, however, Verstappen has had to settle for a second place, behind Djokovic.

Another player who was considered an outside favourite for the award was Lionel Messi . The Argentine superstar won the award in 2023, mainly due to his historic FIFA World Cup win in Qatar, where he guided Argentine to glory and was named the Player of the Tournament.

The 36-year-old was unanimously declared the winner, with even his fellow nominee Rafael Nadal rooting for the Argentine to win the award. However, Messi failed to repeat his impressive form in 2023 and thus, was unable to defend his crown his year.

Did Novak Djokovic deserve to win the 'Laureus Sportsman of the Year Award' ahead of Verstappen and Messi?

The answer to this question is quite simply, yes. Novak Djokovic has been the face of tennis throughout 2023. The 36-year-old Serbian is still competing toe-to-toe with all of his rivals and showing no signs of slowing down. Although it appeared that the younger generation of tennis players were about to take over, Djokovic has refused to cave in.

Despite being at the top of his game for almost two decades, Novak Djokovic is still creating and breaking all sorts of records in tennis. The 36-year-old became the oldest-ever year-end No. 1 in the history of tennis, as he ended 2023 as the top-ranked men's player in the world. Djokovic still has the hunger to succeed and the willingness to improve himself, which has propelled him to greater heights.

While Djokovic was the king of tennis, Verstappen was just as good in Formula 1. However, Djokovic's dominance at his age, and in a more competitive setting, makes for a stronger claim for Sportsman of the Year. Despite both sporting icons enjoying a great year, Djokovic did enough to get the glory and more importantly, the votes from his fellow professionals to claim the prestigious award.

While Djokovic and Verstappen were the top two contenders for the award, Lionel Messi was an outside shout. The Argentine's move to Inter Miami in the United States has not worked out as well as he would have hoped for as the Herons failed to qualify for the playoffs. Despite guiding Miami to their first-ever trophy in the Leagues Cup, Messi failed to match his high standards in the MLS regular season.

Novak Djokovic's 2024 win took his Laureus Sportsman of the Year tally to five, matching Roger Federer's record. With the Serbian aiming to continue to play for another few years, one cannot bet against Djokovic to win a record sixth Laureus award soon.

Why Novak Djokovic was right to have been awarded Laureus Sportsman of the Year Award 2024 award over Max Verstappen and Lionel Messi

Theatres in Moscow

Cultural life of Moscow city is various and rich! Operas, ballets, symphonic concerts... Russian composers have created some of the most beautiful classical music. Russian classical music is very popular in Moscow. It is performed in many beautiful historical venues. Do not forget to include a visit to a concert hall in your itinerary when you are planning your stay in Moscow! And do it in advance.

There are almost no restrictions on dress code in Russian theatres. Visitors may wear jeans and sports shoes, they may have a backpack with them. Only shorts are not allowed.

A typical feature of Russian theatre – visitors are bringing a lot of flowers which they present to their favorite performers after the show.

Here are some practical advices where to go and how to buy tickets.

The Bolshoi Theatre

The Bolshoi Theatre is the oldest, the most famous and popular opera and ballet theatre in Russia. The word “Bolshoi” means “big” in Russian. You can buy a ticket online in advance, 2-3 months before the date of performance on the official website . Prices for famous ballets are high: 6-8 thousand rubles for a seat in stalls. Tickets to operas are cheaper: you can get a good seat for 4-5 thousand rubles. Tickets are cheaper for daytime performances and performances on the New Stage. The New Stage is situated in the light-green building to the left of the Bolshoi's main building. The quality of operas and ballets shown on the New Stage is excellent too. However, you should pay attention that many seats of the Bolshoi’s Old and New Stages have limited visibility . If you want to see the Bolshoi’s Old Stage but all tickets are sold out, you can order a tour of the theatre. You can book such a tour on the official website.

If you want, following Russian tradition, to give flowers to the performers at the end of the show, in the Bolshoi flowers should be presented via special staff who collects these flowers in advance.

In August the Bolshoi is closed.

The Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Music Theatre

This theatre is noteworthy. On one hand, it offers brilliant classical opera and ballet performances. On the other hand, it is an experimental venue for modern artists. You can check the program and buy tickets online here http://stanmus.com/ . If you are opera lover, get a ticket to see superstar Hibla Gerzmava . The theatre has a very beautiful historic building and a stage with a good view from every seat. Tickets are twice cheaper than in the Bolshoi.

The Novaya Opera

“Novaya” means “New” in Russian. This opera house was founded in 1991 by a famous conductor Eugene Kolobov. Its repertoire has several directions: Russian and Western classics, original shows and divertissements, and operas of the 20th and 21st centuries. It is very popular with Muscovites for excellent quality of performances, a comfortable hall, a beautiful Art Nouveau building and a historic park Hermitage, which is situated right next to it. You can buy tickets online here http://www.novayaopera.ru/en .

Galina Vishnevskaya Opera Center

The Opera Center has become one of the best theatrical venues in Moscow. It was founded in 2002 by great diva Galina Vishnevskaya. Nowadays its artistic director is Olga Rostropovich, daughter of Galina Vishnevskaya and her husband Mstislav Rostropovich, great cellist and conductor. Not only best young opera singers perform here, but also world music stars do; chamber and symphonic concerts, theatrical productions and musical festivals take place here. You can see what is on the program here http://opera-centre.ru/theatre . Unfortunately “booking tickets online” is available in Russian only. If you need help, you can contact us at and we can book a ticket for you.

Tchaikovsky Concert Hall and The Great Hall of Moscow Conservatory

These are two major concert halls for symphonic music in Moscow. Both feature excellent acoustics, impressive interior, various repertoire and best performers. You can check the program here http://meloman.ru/calendar/ . You need just to switch to English. Booking tickets online is available only for owners of Russian, Ukrainian and Belorussian phone numbers. If you need help, you can contact us and we can book a ticket for you.

Moscow International Performing Arts Center (MIPAC)

This modern and elegant concert hall houses performances of national and foreign symphony orchestras, chamber ensembles, solo instrumentalists, opera singers, ballet dancers, theatre companies, jazz bands, variety and traditional ensembles. Actually, it has three concert halls placed on three different levels and having separate entrances. The President of MIPAC is People’s Artist of the USSR Vladimir Spivakov, conductor of “Virtuosy Moskvy” orchestra. You can see pictures of the concert halls here http://www.mmdm.ru/en/content/halls . The program is impressive in its variety but is not translated into English. You can contact us at and we can find a performance for you.
