Safari Trek 28RB2 2006
Published: September 16, 2011
You'll certainly get more with this American motorcaravan – read the Practical Motorhome Safari Trek 28RB2 review
Worth considering if you’re in the market for the most expensive mainstream luxury European motorhomes. It’s big, but not too brash and amazingly well specified.
Imperious driving position Domestic-quality fixtures and fittings Specification
Running costs
Big is beautiful in the States, but in the case of the Safari Trek, ‘big’ is a relative term. This US motorhome offers the luxury of a huge living space and an upmarket finish normally found only on vehicles twice the price and 10ft longer.
The secret is hidden inside the roof, above the lounge, from which the Electro-Majic bed lowers at the flick of a switch to provide a full-sized double, with plenty of headroom. This innovation has allowed Safari to ‘lose’ the rear bedroom that is standard on nearly all US motorhomes of this class without compromising on a sofa, large kitchen or a dining table.
Although this motorhome’s dimensions are larger than those of most European A-class vehicles, the lack of a slide-out section means that it can be accommodated by many campsites.
As far as driving the Trek is concerned, fuel consumption is not as high as you may have thought (around 12-14mpg) but every comfort is provided. As long as you can get your head around the vehicle’s size, it will be a pleasure to drive from the vantage point of the armchair-like cab seats. In addition to the reversing camera, there are cameras on each wing which automatically activate when you indicate, so you can see cyclists, motorcyclists and other hazards.
Specification lists on RVs can be so long as to be confusing, but a quick glance inside this coach shows what you get for your money. Everything is of domestic quality, from high quality fabrics and floor tiles to a Corian kitchen worksurface. The styling is typical of Safari’s parent company, Monaco, which builds ‘vans which retail in the region of £300,000. Despite all this, the Trek can be plated below HGV weight (7.5 tonnes) and still have around a tonne payload.
Although the lack of a slide-out is evident in the lounge width (2.4m), it’s nevertheless ample for a couple, and the Trek lacks none of the kit that makes RVs so popular in the racing paddocks.
An hydraulic levelling system automatically sets things to rights on-site, while a generator provides power. Even if you are hooked up, the inverter controls the draw from components, so if you’re in danger of exceeding the maximum amperage of the mains supply, the generator and twin batteries will kick in.
The washroom has a proper porcelain toilet, a big shower (about 88cm x 1.14m) and a big wardrobe with a linen cupboard next door. The toilet tank is the same size as the waste water tank. The kitchen is domestic in size and quality. There’s a convection microwave oven, and the fridge is huge, even by domestic standards.
Though it’s huge and highly priced in comparison with an average coachbuilt, the Safari is not much more expensive than a specced-up Hymer S-Class, yet it offers a degree of independence that wipes the floor with most Europeans.

6 Most Common Problems with Safari Trek RV
The Safari Motorcoach Corporation introduced the Trek RVs in the 1980s. Since then, these RVs have been a popular choice among all travelers around the world.
But in the over 40-year-old run, the Safari Trek has faced many issues. Among these, there are some common problems that you also might have suffered from.
Broken pushrod, excessive fuel demand, leaking rooftop, parking brake failure, refrigerator not cold enough, and slide getting stuck are some of the common issues that you should know about.
Let’s take a look at these problems along with some solutions.
Problems and Solutions at a Glance
Table of Contents
Common Safari Trek RV Problems and the Solutions:
Here are some problems that most of the customers face with their Safari Trek RVs:
1. Broken Pushrod:
This is a major problem that might arise with your Safari Trek RV. This might happen after the RV has traveled 50,000 miles. You will become stranded permanently if the engine pushrod breaks during your journey.
If the distance between the hydraulic lifter and the rod grows too wide, this problem might arise. Also, if the rocker’s arm is heavily worn, it will collapse to the side.
A bent pushrod will result as a result of this. It might snap at any time if you drive like this.
A bent pushrod is mostly repairable. If you can disconnect it, it’s a simple task. Place it on a firm, level surface and hammer it until it is perfectly flat. However, this is only a short-term remedy.
A damaged or significantly bent pushrod can also be replaced. It will cost around $500 to replace it. It’s also a time-consuming procedure.
So, if the engine pushrod on your Safari Trek breaks down in the middle of the journey, you’ll have to wait nearly 6 hours to get it serviced. This is only true if you can locate a nearby vehicle repair shop.
2. Excessive Fuel Demand:
Excessive fuel demand and low mileage are interconnected with each other. If the RV requires additional fuel, the mileage per liter will be reduced. For earlier Safari Trek vehicles, this is a typical occurrence.
This problem might suggest that your RV has a significant problem. High fuel consumption is sometimes caused by a faulty engine thermostat or engine misfiring.
Your RV will also demand extra fuel if the converter becomes blocked or the transmission slides.
If you discover that your Safari Trek is losing a lot of mileage, take it to the local auto shop as soon as possible. You may also go to Safari for better service if you have a warranty.
If the engine misfires, you should do a fast engine inspection. If necessary, adjust the thermostat.
Regularly inspecting the converter and gearbox is also recommended. To save energy, try to use the air conditioner as little as possible. Also, pay attention to the maximum speed limit.
3. Leaking Roof:
Water leak in the Safari Treks has given horrible experiences to some users. After driving for a couple of years, your RV will be prone to a leaking roof.
The roofing material deteriorates as you use it more often. High temperatures and excessive cold weather can cause the roof the crack. Also, the sealants become harder with time.
As a result, the interior gets drenched with an unwanted water supply. The metal parts might get rusted and you can also face dangerous electrical problems if water gets too close to the electronics.
If you wish to prevent this problem, park the RV below a shed. The sun will severely damage the roof if you park in an open place.
You may also get a protection cover from Amazon to safeguard your device from water and sunlight. The UV-resistant and waterproof coverings can help the roof and sides last longer.
You can also acquire better and higher-quality roof sealants. Renewing the hardened sealant is one of the greatest ways to keep your Safari Trek RV’s roof from leaking in the future.
4. Parking Brake Failure:
The Safari Trek RV’s parking brake fails for a variety of reasons. Corrosion of the braking system’s internal components is a possibility. As a result, the lever will be unable to freely move.
It’s also possible that the parking brake cable will break. As a consequence, there will be no signal passing through the wire.
The parking brake sensor might fail at any time. Even after releasing the brakes, the LED may illuminate. The brakes will also be hindered if you use harsh brakes while traveling at a fast speed.
If any of the internal parts get rusted, you should replace them right away. If the cable wears out or breaks, you should replace it with fresh wires.
If the sensor is malfunctioning, it may need to be replaced. It has to be changed right away if it isn’t lighting up or is constantly lighted.
When traveling at faster speeds on highways, be cautious. You should not slam on the brakes at once. Not only does it cause brake components to fail, but it is also extremely hazardous.
5. Refrigerator Not Cold Enough:
You could discover that the foods and items in your Safari Trek’s refrigerator aren’t as cold as they should be. This might happen even if you refrigerated the products overnight.
This issue might be the result of poor insulation. The vacuum rubber on the refrigerator door may be damaged. As a result, cold air seeps through the openings inside the refrigerator.
If this occurs, you should examine the insulating pads on the refrigerator doors. Inspect the refrigerator doors for any chilly air coming out. If you notice a cool breeze, the issue is with the vacuum rubbers.
This problem should come as no surprise if you’ve been using the RV for a long time. Buy the insulation pad for your RV refrigeratyor model. Then replace them by removing the old one. Seek professional assistance if necessary.
6. Slide Getting Stuck:
The Safari Trek Slide may become stuck. This generally happens when you wish to retract the slide. This is a major issue because you can’t drive the RV with the slide extending.
The most common reason for the Safari Trek’s slide to quit operating is the rubber seals drying up.
If this happens, you should lubricate the seals. Apply a seal conditioner product to the exterior seal.
You should first apply the product on a piece of clothing. Then, using the garment, apply the spray to the seals on the inside of the RV. Take care not to get the product on any other portions of the interior.
What Majority of the Users Feel About Safari Trek RV?
The recreational vehicles from the Safari Trek are still available in the market. Most of the reviews on the forums indicate that the users are very happy with the product.
But still, some users have talked about their dissatisfaction. A user from the I RV 2 forum has stated that the steering on his Safari Trek 2430 has decayed. Although he had to replace the tires and shocks, the drifting still haunted him.
Another user from the RV.net forum has stated that a Safari Trek owner was facing handling problems. The short wheelbase of the RV was the main reason.
You can see various problems with this company’s RV in forums. But most importantly, these are outnumbered by hundreds of praises about their loved Safari Treks.
Final Thoughts
Maintenance is the main thing that will keep your RV out of problems. If you can take care of your Safari Trek, you can double the lifetime of your RV.
This guide has been made for you if you are planning to buy a Safari Trek, or if you already own one. Nevertheless, you should follow the solutions I have provided if you face any of the mentioned issues.
Hopefully, this article will help you with your journey. Comment below if you have something in your mind.

Star trek origin movie officially announced by paramount for 2025 release.
Paramount Pictures officially announces the next Star Trek movie at CinemaCon, which will arrive in movie theaters in 2025.
- Paramount Pictures announces new Star Trek movie for 2025, directed by Toby Haynes and written by Seth Grahame-Smith.
- Chris Pine-led Star Trek 4 remains in development, while the new film is an origin story set decades before Abrams' 2009 movie.
- Alongside the Star Trek origin movie, Paramount reveals a packed slate of exciting films for 2025-26 at CinemaCon in Las Vegas.
Paramount Pictures officially announces the next Star Trek movie, which is scheduled to arrive in theaters in 2025. As reported in January, the next Star Trek movie isn't the long-delayed, Chris Pine-led Star Trek 4 produced by J.J. Abrams, which remains in development at Paramount. Rather, the next Star Trek movie is an origin story directed by Toby Haynes ( Star Wars: Andor ) and written by Seth Grahame-Smith (A braham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter ).
Screen Rant' s Rob Keyes (@rob_keyes) is at CinemaCon in Las Vegas where Paramount Pictures confirmed the next Star Trek movie , currently called Untitled Star Trek Origin Story , to be released in 2025. J.J. Abrams is also producing Untitled Star Trek Origin Story, which takes place decades before Abrams' Star Trek 2009 movie. See Rob Keyes' Tweet below:
Paramount also confirmed Untitled Star Trek Origin Story will begin production later this year for theatrical release in 2025.
Every Upcoming Star Trek Movie & TV Show
Star trek's new movies in theaters and paramount plus explained, star trek is finally making movies again.
After nearly a decade, Star Trek i s back to making movies. Star Trek on Paramount+ has created a television renaissance for the franchise, but the theatrical side of Star Trek overseen by Paramount Pictures has languished in development hell since Star Trek Beyond bowed in the summer of 2016. Toby Haynes' Untitled Star Trek Origin Story is yet another prequel, but as it's said to be set decades before Star Trek 2009, it could very well be set after Star Trek: Enterprise 's mid-22nd century voyages but otherwise be an origin story for both Star Trek 's Prime and alternate Kelvin timelines .
Meanwhile, J.J. Abrams' Star Trek 4 , which is the "final chapter" of the USS Enterprise crew led by Chris Pine's Captain James T. Kirk and Zachary Quinto's Spock, has seen some movement with a new screenwriter, Steve Yockey ( The Flight Attendant ), tackling the long-delayed sequel. Pine and his fellow Star Trek actors, including Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, and Sofia Boutella, have all expressed their eagerness to return if Star Trek 4 can come together.
It's a positive sign that Star Trek movies are finally coming back.
Paramount+ is making their own Star Trek movies, with the recently-wrapped Star Trek: Section 31 awaiting a release date. Starring Academy Award-winner Michelle Yeoh, Section 31 i s the first made-for-streaming Star Trek movie, and it is reportedly set during Star Trek 's "lost era" with connections to Star Trek: The Next Generation. Section 31 could get a sequel if successful, and the Star Trek: Picard spinoff dubbed Star Trek: Legacy may also become a streaming movie instead of a series. However all this shakes out, it's a positive sign that Star Trek movies are finally coming back.

Star Trek's Best Writer Predicted Voyager's Biggest Weakness

Star Trek’s Best Writer Predicted Voyager’s Biggest Weakness
Star Trek: Voyager has a legion of fans, but the show has also had some very fierce criticisms over the past decades. Perhaps the most common criticism is that the show overused the Borg, giving us so many run-ins with these cybernetic villains that they no longer seemed like a nearly unstoppable threat. Ironically enough, one of the best Star Trek writers, future Battlestar Galactica showrunner Ronald D. Moore, predicted this problem while writing on The Next Generation episode “I, Borg,” years before Voyager was created.
The Borg Were a Major Threat
The Star Trek: The Next Generation episode “I, Borg” was the first episode to bring these bad guys back since the explosive two-part episode “The Best of Both Worlds.” In those episodes, we saw how the Borg easily obliterated 39 Starfleet vessels at the Battle of Wolf 359, and the only reason the Enterprise was able to stop the Borg Cube before it could attack Earth was by hacking into their Collective through the assimilated Captain Picard. The show’s writers knew they wanted to bring these fan-favorite foes back, but they had to find a way to explain how the Enterprise could survive another encounter.
Hugh Develeoped A Personality Once He Wasn’t Terminally Online
Eventually, the Star Trek writers came up with a clever answer: instead of “I, Borg,” having the ship and crew fighting an entire Borg vessel, they must figure out what to do once they rescue the lone survivor of a crashed Borg ship. That survivor is Hugh, a Borg who develops his own personality once he is separated from the Collective. Captain Picard must then face the moral dilemma of whether to send Hugh back to the Borg with a virus that could wipe out the entire Collective or allow him to seek asylum, something which might put the Enterprise in perpetual danger.
Stop Stopping Unstoppable Villains
That Star Trek episode ends on a bitter note, with Hugh (who appears in a later TNG two-parter as well as the first season of Picard) choosing to return to the Collective to protect the Enterprise and his new bestie, Geordi LaForge. Though he didn’t write this ep, veteran Star Trek writer Ronald D. Moore praised the story as “a real good way to bring the Borg back” instead of having another fight because “we keep saying they’re unstoppable and if we keep stopping them it undercuts how unstoppable they truly are.”
Somehow The Borg Returned
For the most part, Star Trek: The Next Generation stuck closely to Moore’s thoughts about the Borg. The Enterprise crew never fought against the proper Collective again in the series, with their last TNG appearance having our protagonists fighting a splinter group of Borg who were weakened by Hugh’s individuality before being discovered and weaponized by Data’s evil brother Lore. The Enterprise was able to defeat a Borg Cube in First Contact, but only with the help of an entire fleet and Picard’s special knowledge (courtesy of his prior assimilation) about the vessel’s secret weak point.
Fan Favorite Borg
Fast-forward to the third season finale of Star Trek: Voyager, and the Borg (who originated in the Delta Quadrant) made a splashy appearance that ultimately gave us the fan-favorite character Seven of Nine. That two-parter was great, but the show kept returning to these villains. By the time Voyager was over, the Borg would appear (in one form or another) in a whopping 23 episodes.
Even for the biggest fans of Star Trek: Voyager, this led to constant questions of why the Borg didn’t simply destroy Voyager as easily as they destroyed all of the ships at Wolf 359. In fact, it was almost certainly those fan questions that prompted a specific line of dialogue in the series finale “Endgame” where the Borg Queen tells Seven of Nine “You’ve always been my favorite” and that because Seven cares for the Voyager crew, the Collective has “left them alone.”
Voyager Made Sense At The Last Possible Moment
In other words, Star Trek: Voyager did address (albeit at the very end) why the Borg didn’t just assimilate Janeway and her crew, but that doesn’t change the fact that the prophecy of Moore came true: constantly showing our heroes defeating these “unstoppable” foes made them seem like far less of a threat. Unfortunately, the franchise didn’t learn from this lesson, and the Borg honestly seemed less threatening than ever before when they returned (with what I can only hope was a last gasp) in the third season of Picard.
For this viewer, the de-fanged Borg proved one thing: that yawning, like resistance, was completely futile.

See how the eclipse transformed America, city by city
For weeks, if not months, those who have seen one repeated to anyone who would listen: There’s nothing like experiencing the totality of a solar eclipse.
For some of them, this was a second time in six and a half years experiencing the eerie calm when the moon passes in front of the sun, at least for a few minutes. And yet, they were just as awestruck.
For others, it was a likely last opportunity to witness such a celestial phenomenon for two decades. It inspired gasps and smiles, solemnity and excitement.
Here is how it looked as the moon’s shadow crossed three countries and 13 U.S. states, with the time of totality in Eastern time.
El Salto, MX
2:10 — 2:14 p.m.
Uvalde, tex., 2:29 — 2:33 p.m., russellville, ark., 2:50 — 2:54 p.m., carbondale, ill., 2:59 — 3:03 p.m., bloomington, ind., 3:04 — 3:08 p.m., tiffin, ohio, 3:11 — 3:15 p.m., littleton, maine, 3:32 — 3:35 p.m..
Time of totality
El salto, mexico.
A group of professors and students traveled from the United States to El Salto to conduct the most thorough experiment ever using an eclipse to test Albert Einstein’s theory of relativity. Einstein’s idea held that the massive sun would bend the light of surrounding stars more than previously estimated, proving that matter can pull and warp space and time.
The researchers used five telescopes to measure that effect more closely than ever, measuring stars that appear so close to the sun’s edge they can only be viewed during an eclipse.
After a countdown in Spanish, the sun darkened, and the data collection began. “TOTALITY,” yelled Sam Jeffe, a third-year physics major at Willamette University as it appeared in the telescopes’ lenses. “And it’s clear!”
Researchers will feed the data into the computer program, which will analyze the position of the stars and determine how the sun bent the light around them. But, for now, more than half the battle was done.
2:27 — 2:31 p.m.
Eagle pass, tex..
On U.S. soil, totality first came into view in the border city of Eagle Pass, Tex., where a crowd gathered at a football field erupted into cheers as the skies darkened above them.
A singer crooned, “I’m walking on sunshine!” People put on protective glasses and craned their necks toward the sky. Many began to clap.
Vita Garza Flores, 76, traveled from Northern California to see the eclipse in the city where she was born. She brought her daughter and brother along with her.
She grabbed her eclipse glasses, positioning them across her sunglasses: “Wow!”
Students from Uvalde High School were also among the citizen scientists using the eclipse to learn more about the sun and its effects on Earth.
They joined Southwest Texas Junior College’s STEM club in participating in a program known as the Citizen Continental-America Telescope Eclipse. Called Citizen CATE, it will combine short videos of the eclipse taken via telescope into an hour-long movie that NASA says will detail magnetic structure within the sun’s corona and reveal its density. That will help scientists to measure the strength of the solar wind — charged particles that can disrupt electricity grids and produce auroras when they reach Earth.
In Russellville, NASA gathered scientists and broadcast the eclipse’s progress live online. Tourists gathered there, too, wearing T-shirts that declared, “I got mooned at the eclipse.”
A jazz band from Arkansas Tech University played. NASA hosted workshops and Q&A sessions with scientists, at least one of whom has been to space: Among the visitors were Mike Massimino, a veteran of NASA space flight missions to upgrade the Hubble Space Telescope in 2002 and 2009.
Carbondale, Ill., earned the title of “eclipse crossroads of America,” having fallen in the path of totality for a 2017 solar eclipse as well as the event on Monday. This time, at least, the skies were clear for totality, and a full stadium of eclipse fans burst into collective screams when the moment came.
“This is so much better than 2017,” a one commentator on NASA’s live broadcast noted. “It’s so much darker than 2017.”
To many of those who experienced it, the eclipse was a spiritual event. In Bloomington, Buddhist monks marked it with a puja ceremony, a “ritual honoring and promoting inner and planetary healing,” according to the Tibetan Mongolian Buddhist Cultural Center.
Eclipse watchers flocked to Yellowwood Lake where they could experience the eclipse in nature.
When the last pulses of the sun’s rays make their way to Earth before an eclipse enters totality, they appear like a brilliant diamond set on a golden ring. In Tiffin, that meant a chance for some “unforgettable” weddings at an event called “Elope at the Eclipse.”
3:18 — 3:21 p.m.
Niagara falls, n.y..
Crowds flocked to landmarks across the path of totality for a memorable view. At Niagara Falls, despite a thick blanket of clouds, people gathered on the banks of the Niagara River and trained their phone cameras toward the sky. Streetlights turned on, if only briefly, when darkness descended.
The moon’s shadow reached North America at the beaches of Mazatlan, Mexico, just after 2:07 p.m. Eastern time. Just about 90 minutes later, it crossed the wilderness of northern Maine, on its way toward Canada, and then, the North Atlantic.
A total solar eclipse will next dim communities in the contiguous United States in 2044, but only in parts of Montana and the Dakotas. The country will have to wait one more year for the next coast-to-coast phenomenon, a total eclipse that will stretch from California to Florida on Aug. 12, 2045. It will be a Saturday.
