This is not a 5 star as Agoda claims. It's a really good 4 star hotel. We stayed here for 6 days from Dec 26th to Jan 2nd. We had a really late check in and the staff made it very easy and we were quickly sent to the room. Breakfast spread is great and the staff was always eager to help. Rooms were in excellent condition and very clean. Hotels does not have a real lobby which doubles as a dining area during meal times. Also when the hotel had the new years party in the lobby/dance floor it was very noisy couldn't sleep. Most of the five star hotels would have had own separate hall for functions and would not disturb the guests. Hotel did accommodate our request for a very late check out without any charges. The hotel staff were amazing in their service. Special thanks to the boys who were ckeaning the rooms in 4th floor. Overall great value for the money. Please be genorous with tipping.

This hotel was superb with the best international buffet breakfast in India although the buffet dinner is not as good and not really worth the money. The design of the rooms is modern but using the best materials with surfaces of marble, stainless steel and glass. Unfortunately, much of Chennai is being torn up to build a metro system and walking out of the front of the hotel is almost impossible as the wide road in front, Anna Sellai, is partially blocked off and becomes one-way as the metro system is being built. This is not the fault of the Raintree Hotel, but the only way in or out is by car, taxi or three wheeler.

We stayed this hotel from 9th - 12th of May 2015. Our stay was pleasant and memorable. The Hotel is placed in a very convenient location in the heart of T. Nagar. It's just 4 mins. walk to Saravanas Selvaratnam Retail Stores and about 6-9 mins. walking distance to The Chennai Silks & Pothys. The only complaint that we have is that we lost about 9000/- (Sri Lankan Rupees) which was in a wallet in my wife's handbag left on the chair (inside the room), on the day that we checked out. I had specifically requested the House Keeping staff, not to clean the Room, and told that we will be checking out that morning. In spite of my request, I found that the room was cleaned. We found a (pink colored) folded paper inserted into the card slot to switch the lights on. We also found a receipt that was kept in my wife's handbag lying on the chair where the handbag was left. We never suspected about any theft since its a reputed hotel. However,after landing in Colombo, on our way from the Airport we needed some local currency for some purchases, that is when I found that the cash is missing (A SLRs. 5000/- note and four 1000/- notes). Although it's a small amount, I feel that I must keep the future guests aware, in order to avoid such situations. It may not be the fault of the Hotel Management. This information will at least help them find out the culprit, by checking the CCTV footage as to who had entered the room while we were away. Other than that it's a very place to stay.

One of the best experience. We booked the hotel in advance about more than a month ago from Singapore as we plan this trip, but we did not request for Airport pickup initially. Only when we were in Trichi we decided that we need this service to fetch us from the Airport to the Hotel. Though the request was made in less than 24 hrs notice but RT made the arrangement to pick us up from the Chennai airport. Then as we arrived at RT, the receptionist is very helpful and honest. The manager at the restaurant where we had our breakfast is very polite. He explained about the foods available and on the 2nd day we were almost late and missed the breakfast but he was so understanding and let us have our complete breakfast. The distance to most of the shopping sites and attractions were very convenient, some even less than 15 mins walking distance. I love to come back to RT whenever I visit Chennai

This hotel is accommodating and stunningly beautiful. The lobby is magnificently appointed with marble and gilding, throughout. There is a lovely company of gate keepers and door keepers, always eager to salute with a smile and hands pressed humbly at their hearts. Inside, the sunlight spreads evenly and highlights the spectacular gilded grandfather clock to the left of the concierge desk and reveals the spacious and comfortable lobby area, which encourages a peaceful respite from the bustle of the Chennai crush. Beyond the concierge desk is a magnificent marble spiral staircase which is continuous the entire height of the hotel. A massive crystal and brass chandelier dangles from the third floor in an impressive and belief defying manner for it must posses a mass of no less than 1000 kg. inside the rooms the fixtures and furniture are clean and well planned. The showers are amazing and offer immediate relief from sleep or long auto rides through the busy streets.  When breakfast arrives, we are anxious to be present. Head down the fire stairs which lead to the spiral staircase and circumambulate the massive chandelier. Outside the North Indian restaurant, take note of the intricately, hand carved, wooden accents at every corner, post, beam, and doorway. They are fantastically beautiful and are more than a century old.  Do not tarry long, for breakfast is still a floor down. Exiting the stairs and heading to the right, prepare to be met by the most wonderful wait staff. Each one is smiling brighter than the next and all are eager to accommodate your every desire. Be sure to order Massala or Ghee Dosas and have some Massala Chai. The Pure Veg South Indian fare is so delicious, it will be necessary to exercise self control, lest the clothes you have purchased or had made require further stitching.

This was my 2nd visit to Hotel Savera during a 14 day holiday to the state of Tamil Nadu in July / August 2010. We stopped for a total of 8 nights at the hotel so for a full detailed report on the hotel and surrounding area please read my "long winded" review from late July 2010. As a summary I was very pleased with my choice of the Hotel Savera and will return there again on my next arrival in Chennai. Pleasant large hotel, good friendly well trained staff, with an excellent choice of restaurants and bars on site. We did not need to go out at night with 3 quality reastaurants and 2 drinks bars which served meals. If you are into fitness you have a quality modern gym / fitness centre with a good sized swimming pool all free to use ( just short of enough sun bed and umbrella's for the western tourist who enjoy a day around the pool !!) The hotel is primarily for Indian business men and locals with several conference rooms and banquet halls BUT it is also geared to providing a comfortable ambience for the occasional group of western tourist guests. My husband and I stayed with our 2 young kids here for 2 nights - from 8 to 10 September 2018. I have travelled and stayed in many hotels in India and around the world , and I must say that this hotel is one of the best in my books - in terms of service , cleanliness , ambience and aesthetics and infrastructure and warmth and hospitality . We were given a sea view room facing the Bay of Bengal - it was peaceful and serene . One will really feel like a royalty when entering the hotel . Everyone from the bellman to the porters , ushers , Housekeeping and staff at the breakfast buffet restaurant area fantastic in the warmth and service they extend to you . The service delivery is highly consistent . I had asked for extra complimentary cookies for my young children and also shower gels and all were given to me very promptly ( unlike other good hotels ). Special mention- probably one of the few hotels that provide u with such ample complimentary mineral water for your use .

Advantages of staying at E Hotel: 1. Conveniently located with an adjacent Shopping Mall, Food Court etc. 2. Spacious Room where the toilet was designed with separate compartments for simultaneous use. 3. Although we are not vegetarians we really enjoyed the vegetarian breakfast. Few suggested improvements: 1. We requested late check-out and were immediately granted it at a price; but were disappointed that the WiFi connection had been cut. It was restored after a complaint. 2. Receptionists should be more helpful in assisting calling-up of taxis, locating and directing us to religious and other locations in the vicinity, finding out telephone numbers etc. Some just said "we don't know". They did not make any effort to find out. The night Receptionist refused to give me a cardboard pouch for the duplicate card key that I requested. They should be far more courteous. 3. The House-keeping person did not know the voltage of the electricity supply, nor was it mentioned in the Room brochure. 4. The Room brochure was a mess. Some pages were upside down. Pages were mixed up. Some pages did not reflect the information of the Section Heading. Vital information was not given. 5. No one told us about a gym, the bar, and also that there were switches to indicate DND. I learnt what the abbreviation DND was after the Room was not cleaned!

We stayed here for 5 nights to attend a wedding. The hotel was close to where we needed to get to. The room was clean and had all the amenities expected in a 4 star Australian hotel. Staff members were attentive and 5 star service quality. The standout was hiring a hotel car and driver -Jayashaygar- for a daytrip to Pondicherry. Shaygar was a delight to travel around with for the day... pointing out interesting things and making sure our day trip was as comfortable as could be. The pool was a little small but very clean and right on top of the building with amazing views of the city. Buffet breakfast was relatively inexpensive and delicious with Indian and international foods available. Will definitely stay here again when I am in Chennai.

firstly, awesome customer service the hotel provides. From the people who work at the security checkpoint or the concierge , always smiling always ready to provide assistance and they actually remember you by your name. Look for Malini, Pooja, Beijin , Rahul and Imran -they seem to be on their feet all day , in coats all day, but they never stop smiling and are always ready to assist. If you call room service for anything, whether its a bucket of ice or its for extra towels, they almost instantly pop up at your day to make you feel comfortable. I have stayed at 5 star hotels before but nothing like this service before. One of the days , a child was running around and hit her head on the wall. Instead of just attending to heaps of work they already have, every staff who were at the concierge area gathered, providing ice cubes and comfort. Such a sight isn`t it? Stayed for 5 days, truly worth the while.Located centrally, though there is no entertainment or eating places right out the hotel, to everywhere it takes about 15-20mins. Booked for two nights as I had booked another hotel for the other 4 nights, but decided to cancel that reservation and stay on at Ramada as i felt very comfortable and safe there. They are very professional and helpful. Clean and the food was lovely. Mainly Indian cuisine for breakfast buffet but I loved it. They went out of their way on so many occasions just to make sure I was looked after well and I could easily say that I received 5 star treatment from a 4 star rated property. About 10 mts to express avenue mall etc. It’s cheaper and easier to use Uber when you’re there. Overall my experience at the property and in Chennai was very pleasant and I would definitely recommend Ramada to any decent traveler. Also I would definitely patronize this place whenever I return to Chennai

I changed 4 hotels in my 7 days trip to chennai untill I found this one. The view of the city from the room is out of the world at night. You need to stay on upper floors in order to enjoy it. Hotel needs to improve wifi. I must say. Signals are poor in room 2104. I dont know about others. I asked for a LAN cable from the reception, they provided, but there were no internet coming through LAN. And breakfast is already 4 star, but could be 5 star if added few things. may be my taste has problem. Anyway loved this hotel because its cheap and super clean.

The Residency located in the heart of the Chennai city, 30 mins away from the airport which is very convenient to reach! I had a wonderful experience staying in the hotel, it has two restaurant offering delicious food, Chin-Chin is one the the best Chinese restaurant in the city. The whole hotel is covered Wi-Fi with good signal, saves me a lot of work for sending emails, searching the internet. In general, The Residency is one the best hotel in Chennai that i strongly recommend it to anyone who will visit Chennai in the future.

the stay at the hotel is lovely. the hotel is centrally located and very near to the us consulate. availed the service of the travel desk and the driver of the car is very friendly. for a business traveller, sometimes the music coming out from the leather bar (night club) is too loud and annoying. the bathroom needs upgradation and they confirmed that upgradation work is going on in the hotel currently. the breakfast spread was excellent but the service of the restaurant needs to be more prompt and attention towards all guests are to be improved. overall the stay was worth.

I cannot fault the hotel. From the concierge to the front desk to the valet service...tip top! Standards r high ie cleanliness and service levels. Prompt attention to all request was much appreciated. As a female travelling alone it was most reassuring that they made every effort to enaure my comfort and safety. Never once did I feel threatened during my stay I found the staff truly caring and responsive to my needs. One of the best hotel experience I have had ever! Keep it up guys!

Stayed there last weekend. It was amazing. we were in the heritage wing of the hotel and as the name indicates its old building. I was a bit skeptic about the room setup (being an old hotel) but to my surprise, they have maintained things well. Even if the bathroom fittings are of 90s they have maintained it well even with chennai's hard water condition. It was centralized AC (with individual temp control rooms) and have the smart card lock (yes for a heritage hotel!!). The breakfast was complimentary for me and it was awesome!! So many varieties (both continental and Indian) to choose upon and it really made my day. Everything tasted also very nice (and this is coming from a foodie) I must comment about the pool. All these years I have been into many hotels and resorts but everywhere my eyes will be burning after swimming. No such issues here. The water here was clean and didnt hurt my eyes.. Yes!! the chlorine content was so low that i could even swim underwater with my eyes open ;) I am reducing one star because of the lunch buffet. Its 800 per person. I feel its overpriced.. Honestly. i booked the lemon tree hotel purely on reviews on trip advisor. having, in the past some very poor experiences with hotels in india i decided to not leave it to chance. i had booked and paid in january for 15 march so when we arrived at reception to be told that they didn't have a room suitable, i wasn't too pleased. after pointing out our annoyance and insisting that it wasn't our problem they did then offer us a room to shower and change whilst they sorted it. and much to our surprise, they did! our room was on the second floor road side but double glazed so we were not disturbed by road noise. i have to say once over the first hiccup, we were very impressed. the rooms have simple lines and are very clean with nice bathroom facilities and 30 mins free wifi per day. breakfast was a large selection of eggs,bacon, cereal, fruit and local dishes. again this was very clean and well presented. the staff were friendly and helpful. it seems this is a chain of hotels opening up and just what travellers and india needs to boost tourism. well done 10/10

We stayed at the Lotus Hotel Sameera for 4 nights and we had only positive experiences at hotel. The staff was more than accommodating and helped us get around town by ordering us taxis and tuk-tuks. The staff was friendly, and knowledgeable about the area and things to do in Chennai. The hotel is located in downtown Chennai on a major street which is quite noisy. However, it was relatively quiet in our room and we were not bothered much by the street noise, which was the worst, at it's peak (around 7-10pm), and after that it was quiet until morning. The hotel was also easy to get to being that it was on a major road and taxi and tuk-tuk drivers knew of the hotel, so that was never a problem. There are a lot of sites near the hotel and the hotel was also fairly close to the beach. It is quite difficult to walk anywhere from the hotel (sightseeing-wise) so we needed to get a taxi or tuk-tuk. The hotel itself was new and stylish, but not overly gaudy. The bed we had was enormous and comfortable, the shower was one of the best showers I've ever had in a hotel. I didn't want to get out. The room was generally clean and we were given free bottled water and tea and coffee. The free breakfast was delicious and buffet style. Lots of delicious Indian breakfast foods such as wada and idli. Overall, we had a great experience and would happily stay there again in the future.

This is the first time we are staying in a hotel in Chennai and even after providing the Photo ID's they took a picture. I have never seen hotel taking pictures of the guest anywhere in the world we have stayed. I'm giving one star for this policy and never ever recommend it for any traveler until this policy is changed. And I thought, it was standard practice in Chennai. Then we went to another hotel in Chennai and all we had to give was our photo ID. No photos were taken! We were given a room first, it had the damp/wet smell. Immediately after calling the reception, they switched to a new room. That was a good move on their part. Complimentary breakfast was good. We tried Dine-In room service and it was good as well.

My stay here was very pleasant and enjoyable. After a long and hectic day in Chennai, it was great to return to a comfortable, luxurious and clean hotel. The deco was glitzy and shiny but all was good. I was rather pleased with the tribute paid to the movie celebrities. However, perhaps more Tamil movie stars can also be featured. There was also a night club at the basement. However, they mostly played Hindi and English songs. I think that more Tamil club music would be really great - and of course to extend the closing hours. (Closing hours at 10.30 - 11pm). Also, offering a spa or massage services would also be a great idea for the hotel. The only thing that was disturbing was the fact that 2 or more fighting fishes were placed in the same bowl (as part of the deco). However, the staff took action almost immediately to separate the fish when some of the guests alerted that some fish were already dead. I hope that the fishes will be placed in an appropriate vessel with appropriate care.

We told the driver that we need to get to Terminal 4 as stated in our tickets. But he dropped us at the entrance number 4 which later we found out that it was a domestic airport. We have to walk about 10 mins to the international airport lugging our luggages. When we arrived the international airport, there was a sign that shows Terminal 4. We were upset with the driver for not fetching us to the correct terminal but instead showed us the entrance number 4 as the Terminal 4. We hope the hotel manager would look into this incident and rectify with the driver to avoid future recurrence to foreigners. Thank you.

Stayed for two nights as part of a business trip. This is a really nice business hotel. While I do not know whether I should call it as a "five star" hotel (may be the government has lowered standards/ ambiance required for 5 star!), I would consider it as a great place for business stay. The best part of this hotel is its staff. Room service staff were very quick in response and very courteous. Front desk and travel desk were also very helpful. The ambiance of the hotel is okay, and I wouldn't say its the best. The colour scheme inside resembles more of a casino, than a luxury hotel. I would also say that the entrance door of the hotel with advertisements looked very odd! May be the management should consider replacing it with a see through door.

Was very disappointed in the first room (Classic) I was assigned -- cramped, with a bad, musty odor. Was moved the next day to a better room (Premium) at no extra cost. Upon my return from a brief break, was assigned a Premium Executive Suite, again, at no extra charge. This was by far the best of the 3 rooms and was comparable to the room that I occupied at Clarion last year by cost less. The breakfast buffet is adequate though the choices are not opulent as at Clarion. The staff is friendly and efficient. Whereas the listed amenities include a Business Center, the hotel does not have a center; instead the front desk offers to print a few pages for you. Its prime location coupled with the positives mentioned make it a good choice for a budget-conscious traveler.

Visa Application Center(VAC) – Biometrics Center

• You can carry a Mobile, but it must be switched off inside the VAC center.
• You can carry a small bag as well.

US Consulate Chennai – Interview Location

• There is no locker facility at Chennai Consulate. Many said they had to pay an Auto driver about Rs. 2,000 for holding their belongings.
• No electronics are allowed, such as mobile phones, smartwatches, USB drives, etc. Only documents are allowed.
• No bags are allowed.
• No water bottles allowed. If you carry, they will ask you to keep it by the side of the road
• No cosmetics are allowed in your purse or handbag. You cannot carry lipstick, lip balm, charger, or headphones.

• Photos taken in the US from CVS were not accepted.
• You can get the photos taken at the VAC Center itself. They charge Rs. 300 for six photos.
• If you compare the cost of taking the photos in India at VAC center vs. at CVS, it is cheaper in India. In the US, at CVS, they charge $20 USD for four photos. While it is expensive compared to normal India prices, it is still cheaper than taking in the US and carrying them to India.

General Tips – When to Arrive, Other Info

Chennai Visa Application Center(VAC) – Biometrics Center

• Try to arrive 15 minutes before your Biometrics appointment time. For some, they even let some about 1 hour before.
• The entire process would not take more than 30 minutes.
• There is a shop with copier, printer, and photo facilities downstairs of the VAC Center in Chennai. If you miss anything, you can print them downstairs.
• If you are submitting as a family, they allow the primary applicant only.
• Be there 30 minutes before your actual interview appointment time.
• If you arrive early, you must wait outside in a line. Users say they reached at 7:30 AM for a 9 AM appointment but had to wait in line outside at 8:30 AM.
• Wearing a face mask is compulsory.
• The entire process can take anywhere from 45 minutes to a couple of hours.
• If you are with a young child like 1 year, you may be allowed to skip line and your work can be done faster.
