ABOUT SET IT OFF
The three members of Set It Off are embracing their newfound status as an independent band by breaking the chains that once held them back. That is, letting go of the disillusionment, societal pressure, and online criticism that torments artists in the 21st century. Social media is pulling the strings, and the expectation to satisfy everyone else’s expectations is a heavy cross to bear. But the trio is done with the puppetry and entering a new era of prioritizing freedom over the fear of failure.
Blending a vast spectrum of sonic influences, writing music is a means of catharsis for Set It Off. And their most recent singles prove that the genre-bending band is here to stay. From the unapologetically theatrical “Evil People” to the nu-metal charged “Punching Bag,” their latest catalog additions are nothing short of vibrant. Independence has reinvigorated Cody Carson (singer/lyricist), Zach DeWall (guitarist), and Maxx Danziger (drummer) to create a world that’s entirely new yet reminiscent of the sparks they felt during the release cycle of their debut record, Cinematics (2012). Emphasizing breaking the dopamine loop and finding true fulfillment means making music and visuals from the heart. And over a decade later, the trio’s sincerity continues to resonate with fans. It is this unvarnished honesty that has landed the rock act rotation on radio stations like Sirius XM’s Octane, a milestone that the guys take pride in.
“We feel like we’re a new band again,” drummer Maxx Danziger says. “This is the most fun we’ve ever had, and we’re going to keep chasing that feeling. We want to take over the world.”
So what’s next for Set It Off? Expect a slew of new singles in 2024 and an elevated live show. But most importantly, prepare for the continued evolution of one of the hardest-working rock bands. Only this time, they’re the ones calling the shots.

Saw them in November, 2022. I haven't been going to live music long, but even as someone fairly green to the live music scene, it was an experience I'll never forget.
With there being three, albiet fantastic, supporting acts, I'd have expected the energy to wane somewhat before the main event, but even though I was tired after having been stood for so long, it was like a shot of adrenaline the second they came onstage.
Engaging, loud, energetic, and with a stage presence that made it beyond obvious that they found the whole thing just as fun as the crowd did. Cody's vocals and rapport with the crowd, and Maxx and Zach's fantastic instrumentation made for an incredible night.
A wonderful experience. Not to mention the pre-show playlist, unexpected saxophone, and backstreet boys add-in, all helped make the hilairously engaging on top of an already fantastic musical performance.
At they end of their set they said they'd be coming back to the area in 2023, and I have absolutely no doubts that I'll be in the crowd.

One of the best experiences of my life. It was too bad that MOBS couldn't be there, but Capstan was great at getting the crowd energized. Everyone was so pumped up for the entire show. This was my first concert by myself and it was amazing. Once SIO came out, they started with Lonely Dance and it was such a great song to start their set with. I saw their show at a smaller venue but the whole building was shaking! Cody encouraged the crowd to song along to every song and by the end of the night my throat was so sore. It was great! I was disappointed that Dan wasn't there, but I understand why he isn't in the band anymore. The whole band has such a stage presence and they made the whole night one to remember. Would highly recommend and I plan to see them many times again! They absolutely rock!
Set It Off are a first-rate group of musicians and entertainers. They have got to make it big, big, big because they are top-notch in everything.
They are all brilliant, multi-instrument musicians, put on a show so high-energy they drip sweat before the third song is over.
Their enthusiasm, positivity and outlook is utterly infectious and they unite a jam-packed house in a happy frenzy of excitement.
Their music is expertly crafted weaving elements of punk, metal, rap, orchestral elements, good old fashioned church choir vocals and jazz together seamlessly. You really can't define a genre for them because they bring together so many marvelous elements together with catchy stick-to-your-brain melodies and lyrics, it's hard to believe they're a trio.
Do yourself the biggest favor and listen to them and go see them.

Set It Off Announces ‘The Deathless Tour’
The trio behind Set It Off is hitting the road next year for “The Deathless Tour.”
The 32-date trek kicks-off on March 13 in Orlando, followed by gigs in Philadelphia, Chicago, St. Louis, Vancouver, and Dallas. They’ll appear at venues along the way like New York City’s Irving Plaza, the Phoenix Concert Theatre in Toronto, Sacramento’s Ace of Spades, and the Brooklyn Bowl in Nashville before wrapping-up at The Bluestone in Columbus on April 30.
Pop-punkers of Crown the Empire, Deathbyromy, and Caskets will provide support throughout the run.
Tickets to “The Deathless Tour” head on sale Friday, December 1 at 10 a.m. local time, with presales happening throughout the week. Fans can also score tickets via MEGASeats (use the code “TICKETNEWS” for 10% off your order), StubHub , or Ticket Club , where readers can receive a free membership with the code “TICKETNEWS.”
The Cody Carson-led group arrived on the pop-punk scene in 2012 with Cinematics , but paved their own way by adding elements of R&B, often described as “orchestral rock.” They made waves with tracks like “Why Worry,” “A Wolf In Sheep’s Clothing,” and “Midnight Thoughts.” Earlier this year, the group dropped singles “Punching Bag,” “Evil People,” and “Win Win” with Scene Queen, set to be featured on a forthcoming record.
“We feel like we’re a new band again,” drummer Maxx Danziger said of their new music. “This is the most fun we’ve ever had, and we’re going to keep chasing that feeling. We want to take over the world.”

Shakira surprises at Bizarrap’s set at Coachella, announces world tour: How to get tickets
Shakira made a guest appearance at Argentine producer Bizarrap's set at the Sahara tent Friday night, bringing her world-famous diss song to the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival and announcing an upcoming world tour.
The crowd, already energized throughout the start of Bizarrap's DJ set, became fully rapturous when the Colombian star emerged to first perform "La Fuerte," a collaboration with the producer.
She followed it with her Vol. 53 of the Bzrp sessions, a scathing diss song aimed at her ex-husband Gerard Piqué, appearing about halfway through the hour-long set.
Shakira's latest scorched-earth song ripping her ex Gerard Piqué, explained
Shakira entered with the words "La Loba Se Viene" (Spanish for "the wolf is coming") sprawled across the large screen behind her. She later announced a world tour for her latest album, "Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran," calling her Coachella appearance the informal kickoff to the tour.
The official kickoff to the tour, on the other hand, will be in Palm Desert at Acrisure Arena.
Bizarrap, whose collaborations include a who’s who list of renowned Latino artists, played a litany of his popular BZRP sessions, including songs with Eladio Carrión, Milo J and Nicky Jam, during his set.
Shakira was the only guest appearance during the lengthy show, which featured plenty of cool visuals and impressive remixes by the Argentine producer.
Bizarrap didn't say much during his set, beyond imploring the crowd to keep dancing and to up the energy, but his stage presence was confident — particularly for a producer making his Coachella debut.

Scottie Scheffler wins 2024 Masters Tournament for 2nd win in 3 years
By Emily Mae Czachor
Updated on: April 14, 2024 / 10:00 PM EDT / CBS News
Scottie Scheffler secured his second Masters Tournament victory in three years on Sunday, finishing 11 under and four strokes up on his closest competitors.
The 27-year-old American was tied with Ludvig Aberg, Max Homa and Collin Morikawa coming into the eighth hole before the world no. 1 hit three straight birdies to take the lead for good. Aberg ended up placing second in his debut at the Masters.
Scheffler has been ranked No. 1 in the world for more than two years now and also won the 2022 Masters tournament, which was his first major championship win.
The tournament was marked by unruly weather and at least one history-making moment. Golf icon and returning Masters champion Tiger Woods opened the tournament's last leg with his 100th round at the major.
The Masters Tournament is an invitational event held yearly at the Augusta National Golf Club, a private golf course in Augusta, Georgia. Since its establishment in 1934, the tournament has grown to become one of the four most important championships in men's professional golf. The tournament typically takes place during the first week of April, so they are the first major event of every season, followed by the PGA Championships, the U.S. Open and the Open Championship, which are usually held in May, June and July, respectively.
Scheffler and Morikawa held first and second on the 2024 Masters leaderboard , in that order, heading into the fourth round, on Sunday. They teed off in the afternoon as the last pairing of the day. Xander Schauffele and Bryson DeChambeau also began their play in a featured afternoon slot, with DeChambeau in fifth place on the leaderboard and Schauffele in sixth at the start of the round.
Spanish golfer Jon Rahm , the 29-year-old who won the Masters tournament last year, returned to the course Sunday to defend his title, although his performances during the preceding rounds this weekend meant he was no longer competing to win. Woods had fallen out of contention, too, by the tournament's last day. After making his 24th consecutive cut on Friday, which was a new record at the championship, the star golfer went on to shoot a personal worst during the next and third round. At 48, Woods is a decorated golfing champion with five previous wins at the Masters. He teed off Sunday morning with the 23-year-old amateur Neal Shipley, commencing his 100th Masters round.
Scheffler will receive a huge cash prize in addition to the traditional green jacket, which is given to the Masters winner each year. The overall purse for the 2024 Masters is $20 million, setting a new record-high and jumping $2 million from last year's prize fund.
The champion this year will receive $3.6 million from the purse, which is also a new record and up from the $3.2 million payout that Rahm received for his Masters win in 2023. What remained of the total $18 million purse in that case was divided among 50 golfers who participated in the tournament, with their individual scores determining how much prize money they were eventually awarded.

Masters 2024: Prize money payouts at Augusta National
I t says something about what it means to compete in the Masters that players aren’t thinking twice about the fact they have no idea what the prize money payouts were this week at Augusta National before teeing off in the opening round. Club officials don’t officially announce the purse until after a cut is made in the tournament. Frankly, the chance to win a green jacket, a spot in the Champions Locker Room and a lifetime exemption into the major are enough reward to make it worth everybody’s while.
That said, the uncertainty was ended on Saturday when the club announced this year’s prize money payout. For the third straight year, the overall purse at the Masters increased, growing to $20 million with Sunday's runaway winner, Scottie Scheffler, earning $3.6 million. This brings it in line with the $20 million purses offered in the PGA Tour’s signature events as well as the $20 million paydays being played for individually on the LIV Golf circuit.
RELATED: A brief history of the Masters prize money payout
This year’s prize payout is a bump from the $18 million the Masters offered in 2023, and up from $15 million in 2022. Amazingly, too, it was only three years ago that the overall purse was just $12 million. That’s a 66-percent increase in just three years’ time.
The Masters now matches the U.S. Open as the top paying men’s major championship, with the USGA also paying $20 million in prize money during last year’s championship at LACC. The PGA Championship bumped up its purse last year at Oak Hill to $17.5 million and the Open Championship paid $16.5 million at Royal Liverpool in 2023. All the majors are currently dwarfed by the Players Championship, which paid out $25 million in March with winner Scottie Scheffler earning $4.5 million.
Below is how much will be paid out to everybody who made the cut this week at Augusta National.

Team USA basketball roster finalized for 2024 Olympics as Kawhi Leonard rounds out star-studded group
Kevin durant, anthony davis and joel embiid highlight the 12-player olympic roster.
Team USA didn't even medal at the 2023 FIBA World Cup, and with the Olympics looming, USA Basketball was determined not to let that happen again. Superstars around the league have expressed interest in playing this summer in Paris, and with the Games a little more than three months away, Team USA has picked the 12 players it wants to bring to Paris this summer.
Greatness Unites. The 2024 USA Men's National Team is here. 🇺🇸 #USABMNT pic.twitter.com/I2jOLsrcQv — USA Basketball (@usabasketball) April 17, 2024
Eleven of those players, including LeBron James and Stephen Curry, were announced Monday night. On Wednesday, USA Basketball announced Kawhi Leonard nabbed the final spot.
Below is the finalized Olympic roster for Team USA:
Notably, every player on this roster played for Team USA in some major international competition aside from Embiid and Leonard. James, Durant, Tatum, Booker, Holiday, Adebayo and Davis have won Olympic gold medals playing for Team USA. Haliburton, Edwards and Curry have all played for World Cup teams.
Whittling down the field for the 2024 Olympics was an extremely difficult task. Pretty much every All-Star that addressed the topic on the record essentially said that they would play if asked. Notably, Los Angeles Clippers forward Paul George was among those players who suggested they would play if given the opportunity, but is not listed on this initial roster. There were simply more viable players than available roster spots.
The playoffs could potentially force Team USA to dip deeper into its player pool. All 12 Team USA selections are currently on teams set to compete in the NBA postseason, and if anyone gets hurt, spots could potentially open. Team USA initially named 41 players to its pool of possible choices earlier in the season.
Of those 41, 12 have obviously been chosen, leaving 29 other candidates: Jarrett Allen , Paolo Banchero , Desmond Bane , Scottie Barnes , Mikal Bridges , Jaylen Brown , Jalen Brunson , Jimmy Butler , Alex Caruso , De'Aaron Fox , Paul George , Aaron Gordon , James Harden , Josh Hart , Tyler Herro , Chet Holmgren , Brandon Ingram Kyrie Irving , Jaren Jackson Jr. , Cam Johnson, Walker Kessler , Damian Lillard , Donovan Mitchell , Chris Paul , Bobby Portis , Austin Reaves , Duncan Robinson , Derrick White and Trae Young .
Team USA is expected to face arguably the stiffest Olympic competition ever this offseason. FIBA World Cup champion Germany should return most of its roster for the Olympics. Bronze medalist Canada should be even better if Jamal Murray is healthy enough to play. Serbia won silver at the World Cup without Nikola Jokic . And then, of course, there are the hosts. France will not only bring back the core of the 2020 Olympic silver medalists, but will also add Victor Wembanyama to the fray this time around.
These teams all have significantly more continuity and experience in the FIBA system than Team USA does. Coach Steve Kerr and managing director Grant Hill needed to build the best possible roster to compete, and based on star power alone, they've certainly done so with this group.
