ABF Travel Insurance Policy Now Available Again

After way too long a break, ABF members, their family and friends are once again free to leave our shores to explore and enjoy the world and all of the gifts and wondrous experiences it has to offer.

The annual multi-trip cover commences on the 1st of March, 2022.

So that you can travel with peace of mind, TBIB through Chase Underwriting and Lloyds Insurance are pleased to once again offer Multi Trip Travel insurance to the ABF membership, their families and friends.

The new 2022 ABF Multi-Trip Travel Insurance Policy is effective from 1st March 2022 and the online application is available now . As in previous years the policy is available to travellers up to the age of 90 and with the option to include cover for pre-existing medical conditions via a simple online application process.

Pre-existing medical condition cover

You may be eligible for pre-existing medical condition cover on Comprehensive, Multi-Trip and Domestic plans using the Teachers Health Travel Insurance online medical assessment, which provides an instant outcome.

Simple claims process

If something happens while you are travelling, making a claim is simple with the insurer’s online claims portal. You can make a claim online while you are still travelling or when you return.

Depending on your age, where you are travelling to, the length of your trip, you may be offered one, two or three different plans. The below is only a summary.

This Domestic plan offers cover for a single trip within Australia. It is designed to cover personal liability, luggage, unexpected trip cancellation*, and more*. Plus, for an additional premium, you may be eligible to add Snow, Cruise and Adventure packs, increase item limits, and apply for pre-existing medical condition cover.

This Essentials Plan offers budget-friendly cover for a single overseas trip. It is designed to cover overseas medical, hospital and dental expenses, personal liability, luggage, and unexpected trip cancellation*

Comprehensive

This Comprehensive Plan offers cover for a single overseas trip. It is designed to cover overseas medical, hospital and dental expenses, personal liability, luggage, unexpected trip cancellation*, and much more*. Plus, for an additional premium, you may be eligible to add Snow, Cruise and Adventure packs, increase item limits, and apply for pre-existing medical condition cover.

This Multi-Trip Plan offers cover for multiple trips within a 12-month period. Each individual trip can be up to 15, 30 or 45 days in duration. For overseas trips, it offers all the benefits of the Comprehensive Plan; and for domestic trips, it offers all the benefits of the Domestic Plan. Plus, for an additional premium, you may be eligible to add Snow, Cruise and Adventure packs, increase item limits, and apply for pre-existing medical condition cover.

Cover Types

Depending on the plan you choose, Teachers Travel Insurance will assign one of the following cover types to your plan so you can easily identify which benefit limits apply to you. Covers you and your dependants named on the Certificate of Insurance who are aged under 25 years, not employed full-time and will be with you for 100% of your journey.

Covers you and your travelling companion named on the Certificate of Insurance who is not a dependant and will be with you for at least 75% of your journey.

Covers you, your spouse or partner, and your dependents named on the Certificate of Insurance who are aged under 25 years, not employed full-time and will be with you for 100% of your journey.

Optional cover

For an additional premium, you may be eligible to add one or more of the following optional covers to Comprehensive, Multi-Trip and Domestic plans. These are summaries only. Going to the snow? You may be eligible to add a Snow Pack that is designed to cover snow sport activities including amateur skiing, snowboarding, sledding, tobogganing, or tubing. A Snow Pack covers overseas snow sport emergency assistance, loss or damage to equipment, and more*.

Cruise Pack

Going sea or ocean cruising? Add a Cruise Pack, which is designed to cover medical costs on board, ship to shore evacuation, pre-paid shore excursion cancellation, cabin confinement and more*

Adventure Pack

Doing adventure activities? You may be eligible to add an Adventure Pack to your plan that is designed to cover a wide range of adventure activities including riding motorcycles, mopeds and scooters, quad biking, zip lining, river tubing, animal handling, and much more*.

Increased Item Limits Cover

Taking higher-value items? To increase the item limit for higher-value items, add Increased Item Limits Cover to your plan, so your item may be covered for a higher value, should it be stolen, lost or damaged*.

Epidemics and pandemics

Always consult the Smartraveller website prior to any travel.

Travel has changed dramatically since COVID-19 became a worldwide pandemic. This product has a general exclusion, with limited exceptions, against epidemics and pandemics. That means the insurer does not cover claims that arise from, or are related to, an epidemic or pandemic.

However, Teachers Health Travel Insurance offers cover under selected benefits if, during your period of cover, you are positively diagnosed as suffering a sickness recognised as an epidemic or pandemic, such as COVID-19.

Refer to the Product Disclosure Statement to see which benefits offer cover in the event that you are positively diagnosed as suffering a sickness recognised as an epidemic or pandemic, and the terms, conditions, limits and exclusions that apply.

If a COVID-19 border closure or mandatory quarantine period prevents you from travelling or requires you to shorten your journey while travelling, you may be entitled to cancel your policy and receive a partial or full premium refund; refer to the Product Disclosure Statement for terms and conditions.

Make sure you stay up to date and comply with travel information for COVID-19 from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) Smartraveller website , World Health Organisation (WHO) , and Department of Home Affairs .

In addition to visas, COVID-19 testing, and proof of vaccination requirements, many countries now have compulsory insurance and medical cover proof conditions. Prior to travelling, check with the nearest embassy, consulate or immigration department of your destination.
