Serenity Farne Islands Boat Tours
Seahouses harbour, seahouses, northumberland, ne68 7rn.
The Farne Islands are a small group of islands a few miles of the coast at the Northumberland village of Seahouses. They consist of 28 islands altogether and they can be seen at low tide but only 15 at high tide. They also have some wonderful names such as, Megstone, Gun Rock, Staple Island, Roddan and Green, Nameless and the furthest away is the Knivestonem at 4 miles. The Farne Islands are formed by the most seaward outcrops of volcanic intrusion called the Great Whin Sill. This can be traced from Upper Teesdale in Durham where it forms the High Force waterfall all the way up to North Northumberland to the Farne Islands and the rocks upon which sit the castles of Linisfarne, Dunstanburgh and Bamburgh. Dolerite rock give the Farne Islands their distinctive blackened apperance. The largest, innermost and most historic of the Farne Islands is the Inner Farne at 16 acres. For many years the Inner Farne was home to St Cuthbert who lived in solitude. St Cuthbert had a reputed gift of healing which brought pilgrims from all over the Kingdom of Northumbria. Island of Pilgrims, or "Farena Ealande" is the source of the islands name. Today the islands are incredibly important wildlife reserve and home to many seabirds including Puffins, Razorbills, Gulliemots, Terns and many more, during the breeding season. There is also one of the largest Grey Seal populations in the world. Our purpose built catamarans are the perfect platform for viewing the Farne Islands and its spectacular wildlife. If you are not the best person on the water then look no further as our vessels are very stable which makes your trip more enjoyable. Our design thoughts we made with our guests in mind. Easy access on and off the boat, wheelchair access (when the tides are right), toilet onboard and 360 degree views. The decks are all one level so its easy to walk around, and our wildlife guides will be available to answer all your questions and needs. We have booking offices at Seahouses Harbour and the Main Car Park in the village. We are also very active on all of our social media pages such a Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. We also have a blog so why not have a look at that too. T: 01665 721667 E: [email protected] W: www.farneislandstours.co.uk

Farne islands trip
We really enjoyed our boat trip around the Farne islands ,finally landing on Inner Farne. The crew were friendly and helpful and the commentary very informative. It was a good time to visit as the Puffins were back on the island. Would recommend and would definitely do it again. Wrap up well!
Thank you so much for your kind comments and I am delighted you enjoyed the trip. Hopefully, we will see you again sometime. All the best Andrew
We took the Inner Farne 'landing' trip as we have done many times in the past with the various boat companies in Seahouses. I have to say that this year's trip on Serenity was the best yet in terms of the boating part. The skipper did a great job in what appeared to us as testing conditions. As well as this his commentary was the most informative we've experienced and the 'assistant' was very friendly and keen to engage and chat with the passengers throughout. In spite of having already announced we were heading back to port, the skipper paused to share info about a group of fulmars we encountered on the return journey. Thank you for a great day! 20/04/24
Wow, thank you so much for your kind comments and I'm thrilled you enjoyed the trip with Serenity. Hopefully, we will see you again when the weather improves. Once again thank you for choosing Serenity. Regards Andrew
Excellent commentary, got very close to the birds on the rocks, everyone in a good mood despite the sleet, crew very helpful
Thank you so much for taking the time to write your review. I'm delighted you enjoyed it considering the dreadful weather. Hopefully, we will see you onboard when the weather starts to behave itself. All the best Andrew
This was a wonderful trip- despite being cold and rainy we were priveliged to see thousands of seabirds and hundreds of puffins at close quarters. Razorbills, kittiwakes, and guillemots were also with a few yards allowing great photographic opportunities. The crew were friendly, attentive and knowledgeable and the skipper expertly took us into small spaces so we could all get a good view. Unforgettable trip!
Wow, thank you so much for taking the time to write your lovely review and I'm thrilled you enjoyed it despite the dreadful weather we are having lately. I will pass on your kind comments and hopefully, we will see you again when the weather is much more pleasant. All the best Andrew
Would definitely recommend. We were very lucky to see Grey Seals, Puffins, Guillemots and a variety of sea birds. The boat crew were very informative and came round and answered any questions. The highlight was seeing Puffins
Thank you so much for your kind comments and I'm delighted you enjoyed the trip. Thank you once again Regards Andrew
Just back in Seahouses after the most amazing 90 minutes on board a Serenity boat around the Farne Islands. Sincere thanks to Chris, Andrew and Andy for an unforgettable experience. We saw thousands of seabirds and hundreds of seals in their natural environment and it's an experience that will remain with me always.
Thank you so much for your kind comments and I will pass them on to the guys as they will be chuffed to bits. Hopefully, we will see you onboard soon. All the best Andrew

SERENITY FARNE ISLAND BOAT TOURS: All You Need to Know BEFORE You Go (with Photos)
New Arrival
We have been waiting for a good while now but she is eventually here and she looks mighty fine too. Yes you guessed it, our new vessel “SERENITY”
She is the same hull as Serenity II but a little bit bigger and holds a few more passengers too. There is a few changes from Serenity II but nothing major really. We have raised the wheelhouse a little bit for better viewing and moved it back a little bit too. The toilet has been moved to give that little bit extra on the deck and we have added a couple more hatches on the deck for storage in the hulls.
We have also added an extra door on the port side just in case the harbour ever decides to put another set of steps in, which would a great help to all the boats. You never know it might happen one day and then hopefully there will not be as many delays as we have now when the tides are big. Miracles can happen honest….
While we are all excited about the arrival of the new boat and it is exciting times ahead, we are really pleased, chuffed and proud of Tony and Jimmy, who have passed their licences to become skippers.
Tony has been with us for 5 years now and has become a big part of the Serenity team so it just made sense for him to move forward and become a skipper. Since the arrival of Serenity III he has virtually looked after the boat anyway and he knows it inside out. Its been a big change for Tony and his wife to come to a village and fit in so well, but I suppose being a Fireman and the stress of that job it must have been the perfect time for a change. Now he has stress from another direction and its not from the boat but myself and my brother now. Ha Ha. Only joking….
Jimmy, arrived on the wrong boat and ended up in Seahouses working in a pub until he met my brother and he decided to join the team. Jimmy is from down under and to be honest for a young lad he has fitted in really well too. Being a bit sarcastic helps and I have to take my hat off to him for fitting in so well. This is Jimmy’s second year and he loves the wildlife and was so keen to become a skipper too. Both Tony and Jimmy love the Farnes and all its wildlife so I suppose in a way its an easy stepping stone for them. Its not really but you know what I mean.
So on that note from everyone at Serenity well done lads we are proud of both of you…..Now get out there and get some work done. lol.
