Addressing the songâs controversial lyrics, Perry recently told Glamour : âWeâve really changed, conversationally, in the past 10 years. Weâve come a long way. Bisexuality wasnât as talked about back then, or any type of fluidity.â
âIf I had to write that song again, I probably would make an edit on it,â she said. âLyrically, it has a couple of stereotypes in it. Your mind changes so much in 10 years, and you grow so much. Whatâs true for you can evolve.â

Katy Perry planning tour of UK's 'nooks and crannies'
Katy Perry is planning to visit the "nooks and crannies" of the UK on a mammoth jaunt.
The 'Woman's World' singer is yet to announce her next tour in support of her upcoming album, '143', which lands on September 20, but she teased she plans to play all over, including Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham, and Glasgow.
Speaking to Jordan North on Capital FM, she said: "I'm gonna go to all those spots too."
Jordan asked: "Oh yeah, upcoming tour?"
Katy replied: "Yeah right."
She said of her fans this side of the pond: "My UK fans are incredible."
The 39-year-old pop star - who has three-year-old daughter Daisy with fiancé Orlando Bloom, 47 - will release the second single from the LP, 'Lifetimes', next week, inspired by her conversations with her little girl.
She told The Sun newspaper's Bizarre column: âIt is funny how sometimes youâre looking for your soulmate in a partner. It could be a dog, your mum, your best friend, your cat?.?.?.?but for me it came in the form of Daisy.
âI wrote Lifetimes about her. Every night, before we go to sleep, I say, âI love youâ, and then I ask, âWill you find me in every lifetime?â and she says, âYesâ.â
Meanwhile, Katy has said she is "owning [her] sexuality" with her new music.
After she faced a backlash over her comeback single 'Woman's World' and its accompanying raunchy music video, she insists she isn't worried about the criticism as she's happy to "celebrate" herself and her femininity.
According to the Daily Star newspaper, she told a French TV station: âIâm owning my sexuality. I am standing in it, and I feel really responsible. I donât feel ashamed.
âIâm like, t*** out, and happy about it. My t*** give me life. I brought a child into this world, and she is alive because of them t******, so letâs celebrate them!â
Since bringing her daughter Daisy into the world with the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' star Katy feels she has evolved as an artist.
She added: âMy life has changed a lot. I have a daughter who is almost four. Becoming a mother made me feel like⊠I became even more of a woman."
The 'Teenage Dream' hitmaker promised her new album will make fans happy because she's retained so much of the sound that propelled her to success in the 2010s.
She said: âItâs dance-pop with so much energyâbright and sexy. Itâs divided into three parts.
âOne is more like âDark Horseâ. Another blends âWalking on Airâ, âNever Really Overâ, and âTeenage Dreamâ. And the other part is quintessentially me, like âHot N Coldâ and âCalifornia Gurlsâ.â
'143' will be Katy's first album since 2020's 'Smile', which reached number five on the UK albums chart.

Taylor Swift Really Posed with Man in Swastika-Adorned Shirt?
The controversial image was captured in 2009, when the musician was 19., nikki dobrin, published aug. 20, 2024.
About this rating
In mid-August 2024, a Portuguese-language X account posted a photo purportedly showing musician Taylor Swift standing next to a man wearing a shirt with a Nazi swastika painted on it.
The post had amassed more than 3.3 million views as of this writing and was captioned: "I won't even elaborate on this one lol."
Online platforms and other social media users also shared the image in 2023 and 2024, with some claiming the picture was taken during Katy Perry's 25th birthday party in West Hollywood in October 2009.
(@billiekdela/X)
Some X users questioned the veracity of the photo, while others suggested it may have been created using photo editing software .
The image, which was also shared on Reddit , sparked controversy for, and accusations against, the pop star, who was 19 when it was taken, prompting concerns about her association with symbols of hate and bigotry.
Based on available evidence, we found the picture to be genuine.
According to reports, Perry's Willy Wonka-themed birthday celebration took a surprising turn when guests engaged in a painting activity turned their white attire into colorful canvases. Amid the paint-splattered chaos, Swift was photographed with an attendee, identified by multiple outlets as model AJ English , who was sporting a swastika symbol painted on his shirt.
Despite the outcry on social media and news coverage surrounding the image, Swift's spokesperson reiterated that her client did not know the male model personally, was unaware of the symbol on his shirt at the time the photo was taken, and that she had taken numerous pictures with attendees throughout the evening.
Swift's rep told TMZ in 2009: "Taylor took pictures with about 100 people that night ⊠she doesn't know who this guy is and she didn't realize what was on his shirt."
The party's theme, reportedly inspired by "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," featured guests dressed in white attire, which they later embellished with neon paint. Per the Daily Mail , English, the individual wearing the shirt, explained that the symbol was initially intended to be an "X" but was altered during the course of the celebrations. He also clarified that he did not endorse nor support the Nazi agenda and issued an apology to Swift for the unintended controversy.
According to the Daily Mail, English posted on his X (then Twitter) account: "Front page of TMZ.... sorry Taylor."
While concerns also arose regarding the letters "JH" painted on Swift's dress that night, with some speculating it stood for "Jew Hater," multiple reports said the initials were in reference to Swift's close friend, dancer and actress Julianne Hough, who was seen exiting the party that night with the letters "TS" daubed on her white pants, likely in reference to Swift's initials.
Snopes has previously reported on controversies surrounding Swift, including rumors that she performed witchcraft while on stage during her "Eras" concert tour, as well as allegations that she " supports abortion ."

The highs and lows of watching Katy Perry live
How do you put on a world tour for an album that, essentially, flopped? Itâs a question that Katy Perry will have asked herself when she was piecing together her latest show, which descended on Londonâs O2 last night, and in which she kind of figured out an answer: as a popstar, you need to remember where you came from.
Not that Perry should, four albums into her career, necessarily have to pull the nostalgia card. But if the pop market of yesteryear was fickle, todayâs is positively aloof. Perryâs ascension to the pantheon of popâs biggest hitters was swift; from the inception of her debut single âI Kissed a Girlâ she was practically unstoppable.
Now streaming has widened the gap for artists, providing disposable pop at the expense of career artists. It makes the quick diminishment of her musical pulling power disconcerting. To call Perryâs last album, Witness , "bad" would do its finer moments a disservice. But in comparison to 2010âs Teenage Dream , quite literally the perfect pop record, and even 2013âs slightly lacklustre Prism (which still spawned a single, âDark Horseâ, with 2 billion views on YouTube), Witness was a directionless meander of a record, confused both sonically and thematically.
Itâs a task, then, to put together a live show that youâre proud of that doesnât also stink of: âOh dear, I fucked that last one up.â And itâs a balance that, with her Witness world tour, Perry just manages to strike.
Opening with two songs from the record, âWitnessâ and âRouletteâ, two of the albumâs highlights, Perryâs delivery is almost militant; she marches through the stark choreography with detachedly cool precision. Dressed in a sparkling red hooded half-catsuit, half-dress, she expertly manoeuvres herself around the stage props â two ginormous dice that seem to sprout dancers from their pips. Segueing into âDark Horseâ sheâs slick but disengaged from the audience; sheâs not necessarily going through the motions but unwilling to lean into the excitement of the crowd.
This all changes, though, when, dressed in a white suit, she embarks on a six-song sprint of past hits. âTeenage Dreamâ sounds as effervescent and wistful as the first time you heard it, a true masterpiece of pop songwriting. Likewise, flanked by giant puppet flamingos for âHot N Coldâ, a small refrain of âLast Friday Night (T.G.I.F)â and a Prince-style rework of âCalifornia Gurlsâ, Perry proves her pop prowess. She becomes as vivid as the material, stalking around a huge stage, standing prominently and distinctively against the Big Brother -style eye that has symbolised this era. A supped up version of âI Kissed A Girlâ also hits the mark, but itâs here that it starts to tail off.
Perry, now overly nostalgic, brings out Left Shark, the meme-making star of her 2015 Super Bowl halftime show . The segment, filled with gaffs and lolz, drags on, spoiling the smooth burst of pop perfection. Following this, she ventures into Witness territory performing best-forgotten deep cuts like âDĂ©jĂ Vuâ and âTsunamiâ. At this point, the crowd lose interest, too. Despite the intricate staging â Perry somehow pole dances on a giant-stemmed rose â the crowd either sit down or empty out, heading for the nearest bar. Itâs a noticeable shift, empty pockets forming all around the O2.
The divisive âBon AppĂ©titâ is a song that comes alive during a show. The French-house flecked production is arena worthy, filling the vast corners of the O2. The staging, too, is unexpected, Perry rotating between a symbolically Sapphic Venus flytrap and a what appears to be a piece of lettuce made out of glass.
She then launches into the nightâs only ballad, which again breaks the flow of the otherwise high energy spectacle. And thatâs what the Witness world tour is, a spectacle. It makes decisions like having Perry stationary during âPowerâ, one of Witness âs stronger cuts, bizarre, especially considering the pulsing electricity of that song. Perry delivers a stellar vocal performance, sure, but it feels almost redundant thanks to the staging.
Similarly, âSwish Swishâ becomes a moment for crowd interaction as she invites a man on stage to play basketball with her. It feels disingenuous next to the steely pop detachment that Perry exhibited at the beginning of the show, which has now slipped into cartoonish soundbites in a faux-British accent about going down the pub and Heinz baked beans.
For the final three songs, she takes her time. âRoarâ becomes as anthemic as youâd want, Perry, decked out in blue PVC, humming with energy as a large inflatable lion emerges from the pupil of her giant eye backdrop. For her encore, Perry flies through the air on a giant clock to the forgettable âPendulumâ, before she embarks on âFireworkâ, a self-help banger with real heart, before landing on top of a giant inflatable hand, which closes around her at the songâs conclusion.
Whatâs so jarring about the Witness world tour is that it has all the components of a thrilling and entertaining pop show. Vocally, Perry is the best that sheâs ever sounded, and she hits her marks with exactitude. Itâs let down by the empty material from her last album, some questionable song choices and pacing issues.
Despite all of that, though, Perry still proves herself to be a magnetic and enthralling performer, way better than TV appearances and pop critics give her credit for. Sheâs distinctive, able to pull attention despite the sensory overload of props, lights and computer-animated backdrops. And when she herself is feeling the material â like during the splendid six-song bangerthon â sheâs almost lifted from the ground, gliding like an artist in the midst of their imperial phase.
Itâs a promising sign for the future. You can feel Perryâs own ambivalence towards her last album; she knows it could have been better. Whether Witness was a crisis of artistic identity or rushed to fulfil expectations, for a career artist like Perry itâs a part of popâs narrative â you canât have the highs without the lows. Aside from its pacing problems and slippery song choices, the Witness world tour is a reminder that Perry is a great pop star because of her rough-and-ready voice, her candid songwriting and her determination. All of that, thankfully, remains intact; itâs a sign that Perry could well grasp greatness again.
Katy Perryâs set-list for the Witness World Tour at the O2 in London âWitness" "Roulette" "Dark Horse" "Chained To The Rhythm" "Teenage Dream" "Hot n Cold" "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)" "California Gurls" "I Kissed A Girl" "DĂ©jĂ Vu" "Tsunami" âE.T." "Bon AppĂ©tit" "Wide Awake" âInto Me You Seeâ "Power" "Part Of Me" "Swish Swish" "Roar" âPendulumâ âFireworkâ

KATY Perry is ready to bring her pop perfection back to the masses next year.
We have been told the chart-topper has been hard at work on her seventh studio album â her first since 2020âs Smile â and has almost completed the project.
In even more exciting news she is planning to tour the UK again after a break of six years.
She has spent the past two years performing a hit residency in Las Vegas and is now ready to get back out to the rest of the world.

Taylor Swift, Katy Perry reunite at Eras Tour years after feud: 'Got to see an old friend'
The pop stars posed for a sweet photo in Australia, years after fans speculated that Perry's "Swish Swish" single took swipes at Swift.
Taylor Swift and Katy Perry 's friendship will stick around for more than a minute , so get used to it.
The pop stars â who notably feuded for years following the release of Swift's "Bad Blood," which Perry famously interpreted as being about her â reunited this week in Australia, where Swift performed a stop on her ongoing Eras Tour .
"Got to see an old friend shine tonight," Perry wrote Friday on Instagram , along with a photo of herself smiling next to Swift.
Perry also shared photos of herself enjoying the show with fellow pop star Rita Ora , who attended the Eras Tour's Australian performance with her Oscar-winning husband, Taika Waititi .

The sweet photo of Perry â who recently announced her exit from American Idol â and Swift came years after the duo ended their feud, which also included Perry's 2017 single "Swish Swish," which many interpreted as a response to the lyrics of "Bad Blood."
"Honestly, it's really like she started it and it's time for her to finish it," Perry previously told James Corden of the fight that reportedly stemmed over the use of backup dancers. "It was a full shutdown and then she writes a song about me, and I'm like, 'Okay, cool, cool, cool, that's how you want to deal with it? Karma!'"
The pair made headlines in 2019 after Perry made a surprise cameo in Swift's "You Need to Calm Down" music video , seemingly putting an end to their public squabble.
Also that year, Swift addressed their relationship in an interview with U.K. radio program Capital Breakfast .
â[Perry] sent me a really nice note and an olive branch â like, an actual olive branch â to my tour when it started, the Reputation Stadium Tour, a while ago,â Swift said at the time. âFrom that point on, weâve been on good terms."

Katy Perry's Comeback Is Dealt Another Blow As New Video Sparks Environmental Investigation
Itâs fair to say that Katy Perryâs return to the pop scene hasnât been without its hiccups.
First, there was her comeback single Womanâs World, which immediately drew criticism due to its âregressiveâ and âdatedâ lyrics , as well as her choice of producer .
Katy even released a behind-the-scenes clip in which she insisted that the trackâs accompanying video was intended as âsatireâ, presumably pre-empting backlash to the clip, while the song itself wound up missing the top 40 completely on both sides of the Atlantic.
Last week, Katy unveiled the follow-up Lifetimes, which serves as the second single from her upcoming seventh album 143.
However, the environment department of the Balearic Islands is now claiming that Katy and the production company behind the Lifetimes video didnât seek the proper permission to film in the locations of Ibiza where it was shot.
As a result, they said in a press release , an investigation has been launched to determine whether Katy and her film crew caused any environmental damage to the protected dunes of SâEspalmador.
However, itâs worth pointing out that any damage would not constitute a âcrime against the environmentâ as permission to film in the dunes can be sought from the proper authorities.
HuffPost UK has contacted Katy Perryâs representatives for comment.
Katyâs latest album 143 (named after the Grammy nomineeâs so-called âangel numberâ) is slated for her release next month.
The collection is the chart-topping singerâs first since 2020âs Smile, which was released two days after the birth of her daughter, Daisy Dove Bloom.

Katy Perry’s label responds after trouble with Spanish government over damaged sand dunes
Share this with
Katy Perry âs label has said they received approval to film the Lifetimes music video in Spain after an investigation by the local government was launched.
The environment department of the Balearic regional government said in a press release the production company had not sought permission to film in the Balearic Islands.
It said it released the necessary permits were not obtained when they started a probe into whether the shoot caused environmental damage to the protected dunes of the islet of SâEspalmador.
However, a label spokesperson told Metro.co.uk they had verbal and written authority to film and insisted they had âutmost respectâ for the natural environment and âofficials tasked with protecting it.â
They said: âThe local video production company assured us that all necessary permits for the video were secured.Â
âWe have since learned that one permit was in process, although we were given verbal authority to go ahead.
âOur local crew on July 22 applied for a permit for this specific location with the Directorate-General For Coasts And Coastline.
âOur crew received verbal approval on July 26 to proceed with the filming on July 27.
âWe adhered to all regulations associated with filming in this area and have the utmost respect for this location and the officials tasked with protecting it.â
The California Girl, 39, shot the Lifetimes video in various locations in Ibiza and Formentera earlier this year.Sticking to the Spanish theme, she was also spotted filming another music video in Barcelona last month.
The Lifetimes video follows Katy as she boards a ferry wearing T-shirt reading Eurotrash to a Spanish island where she dances around in a leopard print bikini on a beach and heads to a local club.
Katy and her team will likely be hoping the song will revive her music comeback after her last single Womanâs World and its accompanying video were widely derided.
Its reception was so poor a source claimed to the Daily Mail the Roar singer was âfreaking outâ and was holding crisis talks to âgo back to the drawing boardâ in a bid to save her career.
The video for Womanâs World was accused of playing into the male gaze as it centred on a series of shots of scantily clad women, including close-ups of their chests, doing traditionally masculine jobs.
It was slammed by critics and viewers alike, with the most-liked comment on the videoâs official YouTube listing from @bruno3, who said: âThis is what a feminist video clip would look like if made by a guy.â
@ginergreek branded it âfeminism if it was written by AIâ, while @BB_writes said they genuinely believed it was a âSaturday Night Live parody.â
The intensity of the backlash meant Katy was later forced to claim on social media that it was âsatire.â
The collective repulsion to the video followed an avalanche of criticism directed at the single, which features lyrics including: âSexy, confident So intelligent/ She is heaven-sent/ So soft, so strong.â
The Guardian âs reviewer gave it one star and said: âI felt stupider every sorry time I listened to it.â Dazed  said: âWomanâs World feels about as empowering as an advert for Vagisil.â
Many TikTok accounts said the lyrics to Womanâs World resembled songs they serenaded their cats with.
Fans also struggled to comprehend Katyâs decision to collaborate Dr. Luke  on her new music ostensibly about feminism â a producer who was accused of sexually abusing popstar Kesha  for years.
Womanâs World failed to set the charts alight debuting at a disappointing number 63 on the US Chart and 47 in the UK.
Womanâs World is the first single from her seventh studio album 143, which will be released on September 20, a month before her 40th birthday.
Katy has had five number one singles in the UK with tracks including I Kissed A Girl, California Gurls and Roar, as well as two number one albums with Teenage Dream in 2010 and Prism in 2013.
Her last album, Smile, was released in 2020, and went to number five in the UK albums chart in the same month Katy gave birth to daughter Daisy Dove, with her partner, Lord Of The Rings actor Orlando.
Metro.co.uk has contacted Katyâs rep and production company We Own The City through their website for comment.

I saw Katy in concert for the Witness world tour for my birthday. It would be a lie to say I wasnât completely blow away. Iâve been a fan since 2014 but fell out of interest for a little while. After seeing Witness in concert though I was immediately hooked on again.
Katy keeps your attention and makes your experience about more than music. She makes even people who arenât fans have a great time and enjoy themselves. My cousin went with me and doesnât even like Katy yet she was dancing and singing along.
It was a rewarding experience and definitely worth your money! From the lights, to the music, to the stage, to the effects, to dancers, to just Katy herself everything was on point.
Over all I canât wait to seeing her again!

Two words: SO AWESOME. The lights, the outfits, the love. She came on stage with a sparkly red outfit and came out of an eyeball. She sang some songs in the outfit like Chained to the rhythm and Dark Horse. Then she sang a lot of throwback songs all at once, she sang hot n cold (with a bra that changed from hot to cold) , California Gurls, Last Friday night, E.T, teenage dream, and I kissed a girl. Then she got a huge almost desert setup, I even think there was a stripper pole for Bom appetit. Then she was flying on a planet while in a sparkly white outfit. She sang wide awake, power, thinking of you, and she invited a fan onstage. It was cute. Then she got in a blue outfit and sang Swish Swish, hey hey hey, and roar. Then she went off stage. Then came back for the encore, which was a slower version of Firework. Definitely recommend seeing her live.
The concert was a disappointment.
Having purposely flown over to singapore to see her, leaving my toddler and baby behind with my parents in the hotel, we were expecting an entertaining performance based on reviews on her tour. However, It has proven otherwise.
Felt that her effort wasn't there and that there's not much stage presence. Keeps disappearing behind stage for her attire etc.. We don't get to see her enough on stage. She didn't really captivate the crowd and seems like she's only doing the concert for the sake of doing it only. The singing was pre-recorded at some parts - dancing was not energetic.
The part where a fan was invited to stage was pretty interesting. That made everyone smiled. Wish she could have done more like that - connect with the crowd with her singing. Thought the prismatic effect was very cool. Aside from that, this is by far the most boring concert we've been to :(
