Bud Light Backyard Tour

Bud Light is launching its inaugural Bud Light Backyard Tour summer concert series, featuring headliners OneRepublic , Midland , Dashboard Confessional and Bush . The four-city tour, for fans 21 and older, launches in Nashville on Aug. 10 with headliner OneRepublic and opening act Lindsay Ell.

“We really want to deliver an intimate vibe, and deliver that backyard experience where you’re hanging out with your friends, your family, listening to your favorite artists. So we want try to bring these artists closer to fans through these shows,” Allen tells Billboard .

Allen also notes Bud Light’s history in the music space, referencing the brand’s previous Bud Light Dive Bar tours with artists including Post Malone in 2019, and Bud Light Sessions over the years with artists such as Brad Paisley, Jason DeRulo, Jack Harlow and Teddy Swims.

The tour news comes as Bud Light’s parent company, Anheuser-Busch InBev, has seen sales decline following backlash against the Bud Light brand after transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney posted a video to Instagram on April 1 showing a customized, commemorative Bud Light can featuring Mulvaney’s face sent to her by the company. Artists including Kid Rock, John Rich and Ted Nugent then called for a boycott of the brand or pledged to stop stocking it at their bars and backstage. As a result of the boycott, Bud Light  fell from its position  as the top-selling beer in America in June.

“That’s why we’re getting back to what we’re doing with the Bud Light Backyard Tour,” Allen adds, “and we’re going to do that with our country music fans, the same thing we’ve been doing for the past 40 years.”

Midland said via a press release, “Summer, country music, beer, and good times. Why wouldn’t we be there?”

Country-pop singer Ell told Billboard , “As an artist who cares deeply about my fans, I am so excited to come together this summer on the Bud Light Backyard Tour in the name of fun, friendship and great music. Music is a powerful tool in bringing people together, and that’s what I am most looking forward to on this tour as we open the doors to our backyard right here in Nashville.”

In addition to the new creative, the brand is announcing a national summer music tour, and welcoming some famous NFL friends of the brand to the backyard with new social content.

First up, Bud Light’s latest addition to its Easy to Drink, Easy to Enjoy campaign comes to life in the all-new commercial, titled “Easy to Summer.” In the spot, despite the everyday trials and tribulations of summer – like sunburn, broken flip flops, or navigating a paddle board for the first time – you’ll see how an ice cold Bud Light is easy to enjoy with 21+ family and friends. Set to the track “Good Times” by Chic, Bud Light is here to remind fans to kick back and enjoy with friends and family in the backyard throughout the summer.

The Bud Light Backyard Tour makes loving live music easy and allows fans across the country to step into the Bud Light Backyard for intimate sets and easy hangs with their favorite artists.

“Bud Light established our ‘Easy to Drink, Easy to Enjoy’ platform at the Super Bowl and we are continuing to build on that message as we unveil our new ‘Easy to Summer’ commercial to officially kick off summer,” said Todd Allen, Vice President of Marketing for Bud Light. “We can’t wait to get out on the road and give fans the experience to enjoy their favorite artists through the first-ever Bud Light Backyard Tour. Bud Light is ready for an epic summer, and we are looking forward to delivering easy enjoyment to our 21+ fans for all the best summer moments in the backyard.”

“Easy to Summer” will kick off with the brand’s largest media spend to date - starting with the new commercial airing today. Bud Light is making this the biggest summer campaign ever by bringing all the summer backyard fun straight to fans by:

- Offering lucky fans the chance to win tickets to the local shows on the Backyard Tour and experience your favorite artists

- Giving away $10K weekly to make summer easy to enjoy and stock up for all the backyard parties

- Covering the beer tab where consumers scan for a chance to win $100 toward their tab

To tee up the upcoming NFL season, Bud Light is also calling on NFL superstars Travis Kelce, George Kittle and Dak Prescott for more backyard fun. These players will star in new creative in advance of the NFL season and show up for 21+ fans all summer long. Whether it is Travis Kelce lounging in the backyard, George Kittle finding his Sunday best, or Dak Prescott and his neighbors admiring his perfectly mowed lawn, Bud Light and their NFL partners help make summer easy. Fans won't just have the chance to see these stars in new content, but will also have the chance to win signed memorabilia from Travis Kelce, George Kittle and Dak Prescott to get ready for the start of the NFL season.

Midland Are Dreaming Up a One-of-a-Kind Show for Their Bud Light Backyard Party

In 2020 and 2021, when the world was in the throes of COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns, artists used to fantasize about what they'd do when doors and stages opened back up again: Play more shows, collaborate with more artists, take more chances, get closer to their fans than they ever had before.

Lots of artists dreamed about it, but Midland  are  doing it. After releasing Greetings From: The Last Resort —  their euphoric, jam session-flavored, post-lockdown reunion record  — in 2022, the trio is touring harder and more creatively than ever before.

They've kept their road dog bona fides with their own rigorous touring schedule, plus played some dates on Eric Church 's Outsiders Revival Tour and even shared a stage with Chris Isaak. They're also prioritizing different kinds of fan experiences: Later this month, they'll swap their usual arena and amphitheater crowds for an intimate, house show-style venue, partnering with the Bud Light Backyard Tour for a special stop in Oklahoma City, Okla.

"Picture you're going over to your buddy's house, right, to a barbecue, and you walk in and there's the best food you can imagine. Enough cold beer to sink a ship. And then all of a sudden your favorite band in the world comes out and starts playing a backyard party," the group tells Taste of Country in a conversation about their upcoming brand partnership. "That's what it's gonna be like."

The band isn't fazed by the the controversy that's surrounded Bud Light and its parent company, Anheuser-Busch, in recent months, stemming from Bud Light's one-off partnership with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney. Some stars, like Travis Tritt and Kid Rock , were among those calling for a brand boycott; meanwhile, Garth Brooks has affirmed that Bud Light will remain on the menu in his Nashville bar. (It's worth noting that though Rock condemned Bud Light's decision to work with a trans partner on his personal social media, his own downtown Nashville bar still has multiple varieties of the beer on the menu.)

"Bud Light is an amazing partnership, and it's a great beer that we enjoy," Midland state, shrugging off a question about whether the controversy impacted their decision to partner with the brand. "So that's not really a part of our conversation."

More important to the group is the kind of show they'll be able to put on in the intimate, fan-focused setting of the Bud Light Backyard Tour stop. Smaller shows with diehard fans afford the trio the chance to deviate a little from their usual set list. In addition to playing hits like "Drinkin' Problem" and "Mr. Lonely," they can reach for some deep cuts, some reworked early material and some songs they haven't played in a while.

"We don't generally do requests, but this could be potentially be one of those situations that we would," the group's Mark Wystrach suggests. "And probably play some deep cuts from, like, the Sonic Ranch album, some songs that ... we haven't played in a while. It'll be a good opportunity to get into that."

It's also a strong possibility that they'll be playing some new music. Midland's hefty touring schedule has made it difficult to find time to get in the studio and record their next album, but the music's well on its way, and they can't wait to show fans what's in store.

"I think as songwriters, we're always just curious about going into new corners, trying to book new sessions and find new material to write about," they explain, pegging December as the month they plan to go in and cut their next project.

"But in general, we think it's the strongest stuff we've ever written. There's a song we wrote not long ago when we were all in Nashville, and we all looked at each other when we were in the middle of writing, like, 'Wow, this is maybe the best song we've ever written,'" they continue. "We're feeling really strong. Mentally, physically, spiritually. All of that."

Midland's Bud Light Backyard Tour show will take place in Oklahoma City, Okla. on Aug. 15. Other performers partnering with the brand for 2023 summer shows include OneRepublic, Dashboard Confessional and Bush. Fans who are 21+ can enter to win tickets to the event at BudLightBackyard.com .

Zach Bryan to headline 2024 Bud Light Backyard Tour in Las Vegas

The Grammy-nominated country artist will kick off the brand’s 2024 Bud Light Backyard Tour in Las Vegas

Bud Light announces its partnership with country singer/songwriter, Zach Bryan, as the brand continues its expansion into country music. To launch the partnership, Zach Bryan will headline the brand’s concert event taking place Super Bowl LVIII weekend. Bud Light, the Official Beer Sponsor of the NFL, will kick off the second year of the Bud Light Backyard Tour with The Bud Light Backyard Tour Presents Zach Bryan. Additional partnership initiatives will include promotional giveaways and an integration with Folds of Honor, a nonprofit organization that provides educational scholarships to the families of fallen and disabled service members and first responders.

“Anheuser-Busch and our brands have brought unparalleled experiences to football fans and to country music lovers for decades. We could not be more excited to partner with Zach Bryan and to showcase his all-star talent during Super Bowl LVIII weekend,” states Brendan Whitworth, CEO, Anheuser-Busch. “All of us at Anheuser-Busch are thrilled to work alongside Zach to bring positive experiences to country music fans and to local communities nationwide.”

The Bud Light Backyard Tour Presents Zach Bryan will kick off the Super Bowl LVIII celebrations on February 9, 2024 at The Chelsea at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, making it even easier for fans to enjoy Super Bowl weekend as singer/songwriter Zach Bryan delivers his signature classic folk melody and outlaw country sound to 21+ football fans in an intimate space.

“Bud Light has always been at the center of great music moments, and we couldn’t be more excited to return to our country music roots by teaming up with Zach Bryan, who is one of the most compelling artists in country music right now,” states Todd Allen, SVP of Marketing for Bud Light. “Bryan is known for connecting with and bringing fans together, and we can’t wait to put on a great show for fans ahead of the Super Bowl.”

Growing up in a military household, Zach Bryan went on to serve in the US Navy for eight years, which instilled the strength and character that has brought him to the forefront of country music, accruing over three billion global streams. While serving in the United States Navy as an independent artist uploading his original songs, Bryan has continued perfecting his craft for his devoted audience resulting in becoming one of country music’s brightest and boldest stars. In 2023, Bryan’s self-titled album landed the No. 1 album spot on the Billboard 200 chart, making a significant milestone in the rising singer-songwriter-producer’s music career.

“I’ve been drinking Bud Light since I was old enough to drink and partnering with them now after all the songs I’ve written while swigging them is full circle for me,” says Zach Bryan. “When Bud Light asked if I would be involved, I didn’t hesitate after I learned the immense amount of support going into Folds of Honor, fallen service members, first responders’ families and loved ones. It is a privilege and honor to provide help in any way to veterans and all the people who make this country as great as it can possibly be.”

As it enters its second year, the 2024 Bud Light Backyard Tour expands upon the brand’s easy to drink and easy to enjoy platform, bringing fans closer to the music and artists they love with previous activations like Bud Light Super Bowl Music Fest, Bud Light Dive Bar Tour, and Bud Light Seltzer Sessions.

Bud Light Backyard Tour to make stop in Nashville

OneRepublic will be performing in Nashville on Aug. 10.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Bud Light will be hosting free concerts in several cities for fans, 21 and over, to see their favorite rock and country artists with the Bud Light Backyard Tour.

The Bud Light Backyard Tour will feature artists like OneRepublic, Midland, Dashboard Confessional, and Bush.

Fans can enter for a chance to win tickets to the tour by visiting BudLightBackyard.com .

The Bud Light Backyard Tour follows the “Easy to Summer” campaign that was announced at the Super Bowl.

Recently, the beer company has been in hot water after several people condemned the brand for initially teaming up with transgender influencer, Dylan Mulvaney.

Due to the backlash, in June, it was reported that Bud Light was no longer the top-selling beer in the United States.

Zach Bryan to Play Super Bowl Weekend Show in Las Vegas

By Daniel Kreps

Daniel Kreps

Zach Bryan will take part in the pre-Super Bowl festivities in February 2024 as the headlining artist of the Bud Light Backyard Tour.

The partnership will open up Friday Feb. 9 at Las Vegas’ The Cosmopolitan, two days before Super Bowl LVIII at the city’s Allegiant Stadium.

Like previous Bud Light-branded gigs — including Lady Gaga’s “dive bar tour” and a similar Post Malone team-up — the concert will offer a small number of (drinking-age) Bryan fans to see the country superstar at an intimate venue for a low ($20) price.

As part of the partnership, Bryan — a U.S. Navy veteran — and Bud Light will also work with Folds of Honor, a nonprofit organization that provides educational scholarships to the families of fallen and disabled service members and first responders.

Future Bud Light Backyard Tour dates have not yet been announced. The trek is separate from Bryan’s own The Quittin’ Time Tour, which hits arenas nationwide starting in March 2024.

Molson coors’ gains from bud light furore fizzle out.

Brewer Molson Coors Beverage Company reaped the benefits from a consumer boycott of Bud Light. However its lucky streak appears to have come to an end as analysts downgraded the company this week.

backyard tour bud light

When conservative Americans began boycotting Bud Light from April 2023 following the brand’s marketing collaboration with Dylan Mulvaney, Molson Coors was rubbing its hands with glee.

What followed was a record year of sales for Molson Coors, which owns brands including Coors Light and Miller Lite, as US consumers increasingly chose to buy these products over Bud Light. In its February earnings call, Molson Coors said the company had delivered “six years of profit growth” in 2023.

However, the company’s lucky streak looks to have come to an end, as this week financial analysts downgraded Molson Coors to ‘neutral’ status. Following the move, shares of Molson Coors fell 0.4%, though the stock is still up around 9% over the past 12 months.

City analysts said that the brewer “is starting to cycle a record year (2023), which greatly benefitted from large US market-share benefits on its Coors Light/Miller Lite brands from the Bud Light controversy starting in mid-April 2023.”

Early April data showed Molson Coors’ beer sales and volumes turning negative year-on-year as the company laps last year’s gains.

The backlash against Bud Light was furious but ultimately fizzled out within five months. By September 2023 consumer outrage towards the brand seemed to have tailed off with 80% saying they felt “favourable or neutral” about Bud Light. Since then, the brand has stepped up its marketing actions, including sponsoring NFL team the Washington Commanders, despite previously parting ways with the side.

The news of its waning beer sales may not be quite as worrying as it sounds, as Molson Coors recently revealed it is looking to move beyond beer to explore different types of drinks including no-and-low products.

CEO Gavin Hattersley said that consumers in their 20s are focused on health and wellbeing, and this “change in behaviour” was influencing the company’s overall strategy.
