Please note this post may contain affiliate links, which means we may receive a commission, at zero cost to you, if you make a purchase through a link. Please see our full Disclosure for more information. If you have any questions, please contact me.

The Bryce scenic drive goes for 18 miles from the park entrance along the rim of the canyon to Rainbow Point, where it dead ends. The first three miles are around the Bryce Amphitheater. The remaining 15 miles are called the Southern Scenic Drive.

If you are planning to visit Bryce Canyon National Park by yourself, make your planning easy and stress free with a detailed itinerary. I have 1-, and 2-day itineraries for Bryce Canyon that include all the park highlights, give you choices based on your preferred activity level, and take all the stress out of planning your trip.

Check out the two Bryce Canyon itinerary options

Bryce Canyon Driving Tour Options

This guide is designed to give you all the information you need. However, there are a couple of options if you prefer to take a tour.

Rainbow Point Tour: Bryce Canyon Shuttle

Free 3-hour shuttle bus tours are offered twice a day, at 9:00AM and 1:30PM. The tour stops at Yovimpa Point and Rainbow Point, Agua Canyon, Natural Bridge and Farview Point along the scenic drive, as well as Fairyland Point, which is another viewpoint not on the scenic drive.

You can make reservations up to 7 days in advance in person at the shuttle office at Ruby’s Inn, Ruby ’s Inn Campground, the Shuttle Parking and Boarding Area or by calling 435-834-5290. The shuttle tour only runs in shuttle season. Check the NPS website for dates and to confirm the tour is running.

You can board at Ruby’s Inn, Ruby’s Campground, Shuttle Parking and Boarding area, Bryce Canyon Lodge, North Campground and Sunset Campground.

Bryce Canyon Drive Tour (Self-Guided)

The other option if you wanted a ‘tour’ is to drive yourself but download an audio tour. All the information you need is included in this guide, but the audio tours include a lot of extra information about Bryce Canyon’s history and geology.

>> DOWNLOAD A SELF-DRIVING AUDIO TOUR

Bryce Canyon: Driving Yourself

The rest of this guide will focus on driving in Bryce Canyon National Park by yourself.

There are nine viewpoints along the southern Bryce Canyon scenic drive route and an additional three on a spur road along the southern edge of the Bryce Amphitheater.

For all of the best views in the national park, also read my guide to the Best Viewpoints in Bryce Canyon .

The National Park Service (NPS) advise everyone to drive out to Rainbow and Yovimpa Points first and then stop at the viewpoints on the way back. That way you’re on the right side of the road, and you can safely pull in and out without needing to cross the road or traffic.

The drive straight through from the park entrance to Rainbow Point takes about half an hour.

There are no vehicle restrictions on the Bryce Canyon National Park scenic drive. The road is open all year, but the 15-mile Southern Scenic Drive section may be temporarily closed in winter due to wintery conditions. Check the NPS Current Conditions webpage before setting out.

The Bryce Canyon Scenic Drive Viewpoints

1. bryce canyon: rainbow point .

Rainbow Point Bryce Canyon

At the end of the 18 mile scenic drive, Bryce Canyon has two viewpoints and a short hike. Restrooms are available here.

At more than 9,100 feet in elevation (1,100 feet higher than Bryce Amphitheater), Rainbow Point is the highest point in the park. Looking north, you can clearly see the pink cliffs that the hoodoos form from. These Pink Cliffs are one of the steps in the Grand Staircase .

Bristlecone Loop

You’ll see a trailhead for the main Rainbow Point, Bryce Canyon hike nearby. The Bristlecone Loop Trail is an easy, mostly flat 0.8-mile loop through spruce, fir forest and pine forests. You’ll pass by Bristlecone Pines up to 1,800-years-old. The forest is home to plenty of birds including cheeky ravens and Steller’s Jays, as well as squirrels and chipmunks.

>> READ MORE: Best Hikes in Bryce Canyon

2. Yovimpa Point

Yovimpa Point Bryce Canyon

The other lookout in the area faces south. It’s a short walk from Rainbow Point.

This is a great place to get a perspective of the Grand Staircase. The different steps in the Grand Staircase are named for the dominant color of rock.

The top step is the Pink Cliffs you’re standing on. Directly below you are the Grey Cliffs. The White Cliffs are below that – you can see Molly’s Nipple in the distance.

If you look even further, near the horizon, you can see some red rock beneath the White Cliffs. These are the Vermilion Cliffs. Below them (out of sight) are the Chocolate Cliffs.

The tree-covered hills on the horizon are Kaibab Plateau – also known as the North Rim of the Grand Canyon .

3. Black Birch Canyon

Black Birch Canyon Bryce Canyon

The first stop on the Bryce National Park scenic drive has great views of orange, pink and white hoodoos and cliffs.

4. Ponderosa Canyon

Ponderosa Canyon Bryce Canyon

Ponderosa Canyon is named after the huge Ponderosa Pines on the Canyon floor. Some of them are more than 5 feet in diameter and more than 150 feet tall!

From here you can see canyons through the Grey Cliffs and White Cliffs. You may notice that the Grey Canyons are wider and less deep. This is because the White Cliffs experience more flash floods.

5. Agua Canyon

Agua Canyon Bryce Canyon

There are two prominent hoodoos here. The taller one on the left is called “The Hunter” and the smaller one on the right is called “The Rabbit” or “The Backpacker”. You may struggle to see why – many of the hoodoos were given names before they eroded into unrecognizability. In the distance, you can see Navajo Mountain.

You may see a California Condor. These enormous birds disappeared from the area many years ago, but have recently been reintroduced.

6. Natural Bridge, Bryce Canyon

Natural Bridge Bryce Canyon

The highlight here is the eponymous red-colored natural arch. The Bryce Canyon natural bridge is a good example of how hoodoos start. The softer stone in the middle has eroded, forming the arch.

Eventually the top of the arch will collapse and the two sides will become hoodoos.

7. Farview Point

Farview Point Bryce Canyon

There are more great views of the Grand Staircase from here. From north to south, you can see the Aquarius Plateau (Pink Cliffs), the Kaiparowits Plateau (Grey Cliffs), Molly’s Nipple (White Cliffs), and even glimpses of the Kaibab Plateau/ North Rim of the Grand Canyon. You can see up to 160 miles on a clear day!

Keep an eye for osprey. A pair of them nest at Tropic Reservoir and can often be seen flying here.

There are pit toilets available here.

8. Piracy Point

Piracy Point Bryce Canyon

A very short (0.15 -mile), flat but unpaved trail leads from the Farview parking lot to Piracy Point. From this point, you can start to see the Rainbow Point amphitheater.

9. Swamp Canyon

Swamp Canyon Bryce Canyon

This is a relatively small canyon bound on both sides by fins and hoodoos. The Canyon gets its name because of the ‘wetland’ created by two tiny streams and a spring. There is water year-round, so grasses, irises, and willows grow there.

That’s the end of the southern rim road scenic drive. Bryce Canyon Amphitheater is next up.

Take a short spur road to the right along the southern edge of Bryce Amphitheater to the following additional viewpoints:

10. Paria View

Paria View Bryce Canyon

Most of the viewpoints around Bryce Amphitheater face east, but Paria Point faces west. While this means that it doesn’t have views of the main amphitheater, it does make it an especially great place to see the sunset.

There’s a very prominent castle-like hoodoo that is especially photogenic in the Golden Hour before sunset.

Keep an eye for Peregrine Falcons here. In late afternoon, you may also see mule deer, elk and even pronghorn antelopes in the nearby meadows.

11. Bryce Point

Bryce Point Bryce Canyon

This has one of the best views of Bryce Amphitheater, which has the largest collection of hoodoos in the park (in the world, in fact!).

It is also on the shuttle route, so doesn’t need to be included on your scenic drive if you’d prefer to visit another time of the day.

Looking north, you can see the full length of the amphitheater. You can see the Wall of Windows near Inspiration Point and the flat top of Boat Mesa in the distance. Look east and on a clear day you can see the town of Tropic in the Paria Valley nearly 3,000 feet below.

12. Inspiration Point

Inspiration Point Bryce Canyon

The views of Bryce Amphitheater from here are also stunning. There are three viewpoints over three levels. The views at the top level are the best.

Driving through Bryce Canyon National Park FAQs

Can you drive through bryce canyon national park.

You actually can’t drive in the canyon, but you can drive along the entire rim until Rainbow Point.

How long does it take to drive through Bryce Canyon?

From the park entrance to Rainbow Point takes half an hour with a clear run. However, you should allow about three hours for the scenic drive, to give yourself time to stop at all the overlooks and enjoy the views.

Can you drive an RV through Bryce Canyon National Park?

Yes. The entire scenic drive road is open to RVs. However, there are some parking restrictions for longer vehicles. Vehicles longer than 20 feet cannot park at the Visitor Center 1-hour Parking Lot, Sunrise Point, Bryce Lodge, Sunset Point, Inspiration Point, or Bryce Point during shuttle hours. They are also prohibited from parking at Paria View at all times because the parking lot is too small.

Enjoy the Bryce Canyon scenic drive!

We were so pleased with this 3 hour tour of Bryce Canyon. Drew was our friendly and knowledgeable guide who made the tour so interesting. He gave us so many wonderful tips for things to do during the rest of our stay here. He took us to the most beautiful overlooks and explained the geology and history of the area very well. This is a great tour.

This tour lasted 3 hours and is highly recommended by our group of four. Our guide, Drew, was so much fun and obviously loves what he does. The sights along the tour were just breath taking, and Drew knew special places to take amazing pictures. He was always happy to take as many pictures of our group as requested. Drew was patient, and made the tour special with his knowledge of the area and informative information and history of the Bryce area. We would recommend this tour to anyone wanting a great experience in Bryce National Park.

I loved this tour with Drew. He was fun and knowledgeable about the park. He gave us so much information at each of our stops. I think every one should do his tour to get a understanding of what you're seeing when you go into the park. Kim B

We did the scenic tour and the e-bike tour with Drew and he is AMAZING!! He made our experience so much fun both times and was so kind. He's also super knowledgeable and passionate about Bryce, which just made the experience overall interesting. Water was provided on both tours and snacks were provided on the scenic tour. I highly recommend booking a tour with this company and requesting Drew to be your guide. Thank you again to Drew for such a wonderful experience!

We took this trip on May 10th 2023, what a wonderful experience. Oscar was our guide, he was awesome and funny. Told us so much about brice. I would take this trip with this company hands down.

bryce canyon rainbow bus tour

We took this tour yesterday. Our bus driver/tour guide was named Maybry. What a nice and knowledgeable young man. He really knows his stuff and gives lots of interesting info while we traveled from one scenic sight to another. The trip lasted about 3 hours and you see about five of the sites a the Bryce Canyon National Park. They don't rush you around so you have time to look, take pics, and talk about what you're seeing. I highly recommend this if you are a first time visitor and have never been to the park.

Photo of Cathy J.

I booked this tour through Viator and am hoping they will at least issue a partial refund, although we deserve a full one - that's how bad this experience was. As far as I could tell, our guide was brought out of retirement for our tour because the regular person had a medical emergency. They seriously should have cancelled it instead and refunded everyone's money. Jim was a sweet enough guy, but gave us very little historical information about the park. He was almost singularly focused on the "hoodoos" - at first they were interesting, but that passed quickly for most of us. He also must have repeated him on various topics five+ times, like the 18 years he has been giving the tours. All of those on the bus had these tidbits well memorized by the end of our tour. It was impossible to hear Jim with the air conditioning running at the same time, so we did without A/C most of our tour. Just imagine 90+ degrees in a small shuttle bus without circulation - it was miserable! We could not get out of the bus fast enough at the end of our tour! Save yourself the $60 fee - go to the visitors center and do a self-guided tour. You'll enjoy it sooooo much more!

Incredible!!! We went on the private tour with Oscar. He picked us up at our campsite is a very nice van. He was a bucket full of knowledge. (They also have group tours). He designed our tour around our guest's limited mobility and took us to 4 beautiful destination that were accessible for all of us. We got such a great overview of how the "hoodoos" are formed, trees and vegetation as well as some folklore. I highly recommend Oscar and Bryce Canyon Scenic Tours. They are a local company and Oscar is the owner!!! 5 out of 5

The best! Mabry was a knowledgeable enthusiastic guide and answered so many questions in three hours. We had a choice of guided hikes. Visiting Bryce Canyon in the Summer

Summer weather is a great time to enjoy outdoor Bryce Canyon activities . The mornings and evenings will be cool and the daytime temperatures won’t be too hot due to Bryce Canyon’s higher elevation.

Keep in mind the summer months at all Utah National Parks are peak times so be prepared for crowds.

Our big tip to avoid the crowds in summer is to get into the park early. You can’t beat Bryce Canyon sunrise photography and hiking in the morning!

Does the Bryce Canyon Shuttle Run in Summer?

Yes, the Bryce Canyon shuttle runs every day in summer, but it’s not mandatory to ride the shuttle to access the park. The shuttle buses take visitors to the Bryce Amphitheater area of the park.

The Rainbow Bus takes visitors on a tour of the Bryce Canyon scenic drive. You can also drive this road with your private vehicle. Start early to beat the crowds and have the best light to take photos.

**Check the Bryce Canyon shuttle schedule for exact times of operation in September – toward the end of the month the times of operation change.

Bryce Canyon Services in the Summer

The park is open 24 hours a day, every day of the year, even on holidays! Be sure to check the Bryce Canyon website for the most updated information for the visitor center hours and closures.

The Lodge at Bryce Canyon and Western Cabins are open in the summer.

Bryce Canyon camping in the summer: the North Campground is open year-round and it’s first-come, first-served. The Sunset Campground requires a reservation.

Summer Weather at Bryce Canyon

Due to the high elevation of Bryce Canyon, the temperatures aren’t as hot as the other Utah National Parks in the summer .

 • June: highs 74 | lows 40 degrees F
 • July: highs 79 | lows 47 degrees F
 • August: highs 76 | lows 45 degrees F

We recommend having a fleece jacket for the cooler mornings and evenings. Summer monsoon rain storms are common as well so check the weather to see if you may also need a rain jacket .

Is Summer a Good Time to Visit Bryce Canyon?

Bryce Canyon National Park is open 24 hours a day, all year long. Check out our resource of the best times to visit Bryce Canyon that includes specific information about what it’s like at different seasons and months of the year.

Bryce Canyon in the winter is a fun time to enjoy winter activities and avoid the crowds if you don’t mind cold and snow!

Zion & Bryce Canyon AUDIO TOUR (GuideAlong)

“Download the app to your phone – no cell or wifi service needed. Based on your GPS location, the app takes you on a guided tour of the park and points out all the interesting features and stops. It’s like having a park ranger in the car with you.”

Things to Do at Bryce Canyon National Park in the Summer

You’ll find a fun list of things to do at Bryce Canyon National Park in the summer:

Bryce Canyon Ranger Led Programs in the Summer

While visiting we highly recommend joining a ranger-led program. In the summer you’ll find these programs:

 • Geology talks
 • Full Moon hikes
 • Snowshoe hikes
 • Constellation tours

All of these ranger-led programs offer a wealth of knowledge that you can learn so much more from than exploring the park on your own.

Bryce Canyon Visitor Center

Stop by the visitor center when you first arrive. So often people visiting skip this, but it is actually the first thing we do on each trip to Bryce Canyon.

While in the visitor center we talk with the park ranger about which hikes and activities we are planning to do on our trip. They share tips and advice that are valuable as well as the conditions of the trials.

At the visitor center, you can also see what ranger-led programs are currently running.

Don’t forget to check out the museum or the bookstore. If you want to relax for a minute you can take a break and watch “Shadows of Time,” which plays at the visitor center as well.

Natural Bridge at Byrce Canyon National Park

Bryce Canyon Scenic Drive in the Summer

We recommend spending half a day to see and photograph all the views along the Bryce Canyon scenic drive.

From the park entrance, drive all the way to the end of the road at Rainbow Point, then work your way back from there.

This way, all the overlooks are on the right hand side which makes it easier to pull in and out of the parking lots.

Check out the FUN Bryce Canyon GyPSy Guide App to hear fun behind-the scenes stories and local tips that play automatically as you drive, based on your GPS location.

Thor's Hammer at Bryce Canyon at sunrise

Bryce Canyon Summer Photography

The park is known for all the spectacular Bryce Canyon views you can photograph.

Bryce Canyon sunrise photography is truly epic and worth it to get out of bed early to watch! The glow that happens on the hoodoos in that early morning light is stunning!

We’ve got a handy Bryce Canyon Photography Guide with tips and best times to take pictures at each viewpoint!

And check out our tips for photographing the sunrise .

Bryce Canyon milky way

Stargazing in the Summer at Bryce Canyon

There is nothing better than stargazing at Bryce Canyon.

In the summer you will be able to see the Milky Way along with the thousands of other stars that will light up the night sky. It is simply a magical experience to take part in.

The Milky Way is visible in at these times in the summer:

 • May – 11:00 pm to 4:00 am
 • June – 10:30 pm to 3:30 am
 • July – 10:30 pm to 3:45 am

Navajo-Loop-Trail-hikers-Photo-Jeepers

Hiking in the Summer at Bryce Canyon

Bryce Canyon is known for some of the most amazing hikes. There are many easy, moderate and strenuous Bryce Canyon National Park summer hikes , making it the perfect place for everyone to find the right hike.

One of our favorite trails is the Navajo Loop Queen’s Garden trail . It’s one thing to see the hoodoos from above along the rim, but entirely different to walk through them!

Before you hike in Bryce Canyon remember:

 • Pets are only allowed on paved trails and must be leashed.
 • Stay on maintained trails. Do not climb the hoodoos.
 • Wear hiking boots, improper shoes are the number 1 cause of injuries.
 • Don’t forget water! Plan for 1 qt per person every 2-3 hours.
 • If you hear thunder seek shelter immediately. This means lightning is within 10 miles. THIS is especially relevant in the summer when the monsoon rain storms roll through!

The great thing about Bryce Canyon trails is that many of the popular hikes hook together. This allows easy trails to become a more difficult hike if you choose.

There’s nothing better than planning ahead so you can make the most of your Bryce Canyon Country vacation and enjoy the experiences in the area to the fullest once you arrive.

One of the most important parts of vacation planning is transportation. When visiting Bryce Canyon National Park, there is a voluntary shuttle service through the park you can take advantage of.

The shuttle will more easily help you navigate through the park without the stress of driving through the congested park areas.

The shuttle stops at multiple places throughout the park. With free service, you can get on and off at any of the shuttle stops an unlimited number of times.

Where do i park to use the bryce canyon shuttle.

The best place to park is the Shuttle Parking and Boarding area across the street from Ruby’s Inn.

How long does it take to drive through Bryce Canyon National Park?

Visitors can drive their own vehicles to various parking areas and scenic overlooks throughout the park, but the full Bryce Canyon Shuttle route takes about 50 minutes to complete.

The Bryce Canyon Shuttle

Bryce Canyon’s shuttle service is not mandatory. However, it is encouraged to use the shuttle because of the congestion that occurs within the park, especially during the summer season. Bryce Canyon National Park saw over 2.6 million visitors in 2018 and the shuttle not only provides less stress and confusion for you but relieves natural resource protection concerns within the area. In other words, to keep the park beautiful for visitors in many years to come, we ask you to consider the shuttle for your transportation needs.

Shuttle Fees & Schedules

The Bryce Canyon shuttle is free with the purchase of the park entrance fee. Annual pass holders can also ride the shuttle for free.

Digital passes are required to ride the shuttle. Save Time and Purchase Your Digital Pass Now!

Proof of admission must be shown to the bus driver when boarding outside the park. If you have an Interagency Annual, Access, or Lifetime Pass , simply show your pass to the driver when you board.

If you need to purchase a pass, you can purchase a Digital Pass via Recreation.gov . A $35 Vehicle Pass will cover you and all the occupants of your vehicle for use of the shuttle and private vehicle entry into the park.

Digital passes are available for instant download and sent to your e-mail as a PDF. They can also be upgraded to an Interagency Pass at the park entrance station.

Shuttle hours vary seasonally and the most current schedule can be found on the National Park Service website . Throughout the day, the shuttle conveniently runs approximately every 15 minutes.

Shuttle Stops

The shuttle stops at multiple places throughout the park. With free services, you can get on and off at any of these stops an unlimited number of times. See the National Park Service Website for the most up-to-date information or further questions about shuttle stops and the shuttle service running time throughout the day.

Our National Park Family Vacation

This past summer we spent two weeks out west in Colorado, Utah, and Page, Arizona visiting some of the National Parks and other interesting places so I thought I would share some tips for traveling . This is actually our second trip out there in three years. Our list of places visited so far, in that region, includes:

 • Grand Canyon-both north and south rim
 • Bryce Canyon National Park

Zion National Park

 • Monument Valley (Navajo Nation)
 • Best Friends Animal Society (includes Kanab, Utah)
 • Page, Arizona (includes Antelope Canyons-part of Navajo Nation, Lake Powell-Glen Canyon NRA, Rainbow Bridge)
 • Arches National Park (includes Moab, Utah)

After both trips, I’ve learned a lot about visiting the national parks with kids so I wanted to pass that wisdom on to you today.

Planning a trip out west to the National Parks can seem like a daunting task for any family. And it may feel like an impossibility if your child has significant disabilities. But with proper preparation, a can-do attitude and willingness to roll with the punches, it can be done.

Many of these famous places are on my personal bucket list that I have for me and my kids and I’m determined to do them.

Tips for Planning a National Park Vacation with Kids

There are a few things that any family or parents should do, but especially disability families. With limited options for medical care as compared to more populated areas, I suggest you read these tips on planning for a vacation with your disabled child . It has lots of good information as far as your insurance companies and so on.

 • Get your free National Parks pass if you qualify. This is something you’ll want to look into weeks in advance. Many people with disabilities qualify for a free lifetime pass but you shouldn’t wait until the last minute. If you do not qualify for a free pass, poke around the website because senior citizens, veterans and a few other groups qualify for greatly reduced rates. The parks out west can be as much as $25 per day so you definitely want to get a free/reduced pass if you can.
 • Decide where you want to go. For us east coasters, the sheer size of the west can be overwhelming to us. We’re used to having a zillion options within 45 minutes of us. Out west, you can drive for 6 hours and not see another person. And this is only the national parks “out west” for kids. It doesn’t even include theNational Parks on the West Coast. I mean, Utah is not a coastal state, right?! There are SO many different options out west that you likely won’t be able to see everything in one family trip. I would look at a map, decide your priorities and begin planning your trip from there.
 • Pick a home base. I recommend picking a home base that’s within reasonable difference of the places you want to see, versus moving around every night or two. Many of the small towns-Page, Arizona or Kanab and Moab in Utah have plenty of restaurants and lodging options within the town. You can see more of my recommendations below.
 • The internet is your best friend for planning a trip like this. BUT, don’t rely on the internet when you’re actually on the road! Wifi and 3G/4G service is not available every place you go out there, like what we are used to here on the East Coast. If you are looking at something online, either write it down or print it off if necessary. Don’t assume that “I’ll just look at it on my phone when I get out there” because phone service may not be available.
 • Bring refillable water bottles. Due to environmental concerns, most parks out there frown up bottled water (in disposable bottles). Bring or buy a refillable one and they have plenty of ice machines and water-stations to stay refilled.
 • Make reservations in advance. Some of the restaurants and lodges get crowded during busy seasons. See if they recommend reservations. Some of the lodges IN the national parks can be booked up a year or more in advance!
 • Know you won’t be able to do everything. The national parks area out west is vast and there’s just so much to do. I recommend managing expectations ahead of time that you likely won’t get to do EVERYTHING in one trip, especially if you’re visiting a handful of the parks. Be sure to plan some down time too!

You can’t talk about traveling to this region of the country without talking about the weather. This photo is an actual thermometer reading for one of the days that we were there.

Yes, at about 2:00 in the afternoon it was 106 with 2% humidity! Be Prepared for The Weather

Yes, at about 2:00 in the afternoon it was 106 with 2% humidity! If your child is non-verbal and cannot request things or has temperature regulation issues, you need to be prepared.

Of course, you don’t have to visit there in June or July as we did, but they have a very dry climate year-round.

The problem can be exacerbated by elevation, and some spots like the Grand Canyon can be at 7000 or 8000 feet.

Talk to Park Rangers, talk to seasoned hikers who have been there and heed the warnings. There are some dangerous hiking trails, so maybe doing Angels Landing is just not in the cards for you.

And that’s ok. I feel just as fulfilled for going as those who have hiked it. I’m all for pushing yourself and our kids to do bigger things, but you have to be safe and reasonable. There are plenty of fun, flat trails with wading options too.

Do Research On Hikes Ahead of Time

Another of our favorites, Zion is just 90 minutes from Bryce but I definitely recommend spending a whole day here instead of splitting it into two. There are many trails here of varying difficulty but one of the most family friend hikes is the Pa’rus trail. It begins at the visitor’s center and is paved, so it’s quite accessible. It runs along the floor of the canyon and will give you some epic views.

There are many other hikes in Zion that are family-friendly but difficulty levels vary so do your research first!

If you’re trying to figure out which parks and activities you want to hit, here’s a handy charge with the driving time between some of the national parks.

Hopefully this illustrates why we love to stay in Page and just do day trips. Even though Zion and Bryce are only 90 minutes apart, each one deserves at least a full day of your time. Sure, you could visit both in a day, but you wouldn’t get to see everything. And, if you need a down day to just stick close to the hotel, you can go to the dam (photo below) or Horseshoe Bend, or the caves. The caves are a part of Navajo Nation, more info below under that heading.

We visited Best Friends Animal Sanctuaryand for some of the tours, reservations are required. For some of the tours, they don’t do every tour or activity every day, so you have to plan your trip according to what you want to see. We planned our trip around my niece wanting to see the horses. • nicoleaH5175BU 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Fantastic Guide Eric was an amazing guide today. He was extremely knowledgeable and attentive. He taught us a lot of history and facts throughout the entire trip and had us all laughing plenty of times. Water and a granola bar were provided during the trip, I can see people saying they assumed there were more snacks, but the information I was given clearly stated about the granola bar and water on the bus. Lunch was provided at the national park. (Minus points for not dropping us off at Raising Canes after - just kidding). Thank you for a great tour! Read more Written April 30, 2024

Water in the Backcountry

We recommend you carry at least one gallon (4 liters) of water per person per day.

 • Water sources are unreliable.
 • Water from backcountry sources must be purified.
 • Purify water by boiling (10 minutes), filtering, or iodine treatment.

Please check at the Visitor Center for the most current information on water availability. Depending on seasonal variations you find water at the following backcountry locations:

 • Yellow Creek (near all campsites)
 • Sheep Creek (near campsite; campsite is closed to campers)
 • Iron Spring (trail near campsite)*
 • Riggs Spring (inside log fence area)
 • Yovimpa Spring (below Yovimpa Pass campsite)

* Note: Water in Iron Spring has substantial sediment and metallic taste Water Caching Water caching is permitted. Water must be labeled with your name and the date. Caches are typically placed at the junction of the Under-the-Rim trail and Swamp Canyon Connector.

Transportation

The Bryce Canyon Shuttle provides optional transportation to and from Sunrise, Sunset, Inspiration, and Bryce Points April - October. It does not serve the southern end of the park. For transportation to the southern end of the park, contact one of our approved Commercial Shuttle providers. Private vehicles can also be parked at trailheads during your trip. A parking pass will be provided to you when you pick up your permit at the Visitor Center.

Bears and Other Wildlife

Bryce Canyon is home to many animals including mountain lions, coyotes and black bears. Squirrels, snakes and other small animals may also be present near your campsite.

 • If you have your own bear-resistant canister, you must present it to the backcountry ranger to make sure it meets park requirements (hard-sided and lockable)
 • Feeding or harassing wildlife in the park is a violation of Federal law (36 CFR 1002.2) and such behavior is subject to fines or other penalties

Due to the presence of black bears within Bryce Canyon National Park, the following regulations and recommendations are also in place:

 • All food must be prepared and stored in the designated Food Prep Area
 • Store all food and scented personal items in the bear canister
 • Do not eat or use scented items in your tent
 • Do not sleep in the clothes you were wearing when you cooked
 • Keep bear canisters locked when not tending to them
 • Hanging food from trees is prohibited

In the summer of 2010, a Black Bear had to be killed because it was conditioned to associate food with humans and began to exhibit aggressive behavior. Feeding wild animals is a form of animal cruelty. Please take your food storage practices seriously.

Before your trip, we recommend you take a moment to review information on how to respond to bear encounters . Information about other animals that may be encountered in Bryce Canyon can be viewed at the park's wildlife page .

Required: Approved Bear Canisters

Bear-resistant canisters are required, and available for loan, free of charge, at the Visitor Center

If you have your own bear-resistant canister, you must present it to the backcountry ranger to make sure it meets park requirements (hard-sided and lockable)

Thru-Hikers (e.g. Hayduke Trail)

Thru-hikers (Hayduke Trail) traveling and/or staying overnight in Bryce Canyon are still subject to park regulations. If you intend to stay overnight within the park, you will need to stop into the Visitor Center and obtain a permit. Plan ahead and make sure you have the proper bear-resistant canister and camp stove. Campsites fill up during the summer, so do not expect to arrive at any site at your leisure and start setting up camp without first checking in with a backcountry ranger and obtaining a permit. You may want to consider camping outside the park boundaries if obtaining a permit and complying with park regulations is difficult. The Dixie National Forest has different regulations on dispersed camping. Check their website or call the local USFS Ranger Station for more information.

Moscow: City Sightseeing by Car/Bus

Visiting a new city is akin to going on a first date, it is something you will never forget. Many people imagine Moscow as just a bunch of sporadic landmarks: Red Square, the Kremlin, Lenin’s Mausoleum and GUM. There is so much more to this wonderful city than that and even though we only have a few hours, we will do all we can to show you everything we know and love about our capital in one fell swoop. We will take you on a journey through the ages, from centuries ago, right up to the modern day, soaking in the sights of this vast and bustling metropolis. Bright, luxurious and both ancient and modern at the same time, Moscow invites you on a date you’ll never forget!

On our sightseeing bus tour of the city, you will see:

 • The wonderfully historic city centre and its unique museums, magnificent cathedrals, the exquisite Chambers of the Romanov Boyars and of course, the famous towering red brick walls of the Kremlin, The charming beauty of the Alexander Garden awaits the capital's guests - a lush green oasis in the midst of the glass and concrete clad metropolis, basking in the etherial aura emanating from the whitewashed stone walls of the restored Cathedral of Christ the Saviour, the world- renowned fairytale onion domes of St. Basil's Cathedral and other impressive monumental buildings such as the library built in Lenin's honour - the Russian State Library - and the State Duma.
 • The Lubyanka KGB headquarters is notorious to members of older generations and although nowadays, the face of the secret police has changed dramatically, the looming enigmatic building on the waterfront maintains its aura of mystery, shrouded in a variety of murky rumours and dark myths. Then, there’s another of Moscow's main attractions - the marvellous Bolshoi Theatre, yew simply cant leave Moscow without taking in its breathtaking architecture. Engrained in the fabric of Russia's cultural heritage, virtuoso performers such as prima ballerina Galina Ulanova, opera singer Feodor Chaliapin and pianist, composer and conductor Sergei Rachmaninoff once stood centre stage of this vaunted institution.
 • The memorial complex on Poklonnaya Hill was constructed in the glory and honour of our heroes who defended our nation in the many crucial battles of the Great Patriotic War (WWII). This is a place that embodies a particularly acute and inextricable link between older ancf younger generations. Moving on to the Moscow International Business Centre, not dubbed ‘Moscow City' for nothing, a true glimpse of the future in the present. This incredible, rather jaw-dropping project in the capital has shown that Moscow has come to accept the age of the skyscraper. Finally, the stunning views from the observation deck at Sparrow Hills will leave professional and amateur photographers alike itching to capture them. How could one resist?

The most beautiful of all the world's cities - lady Moscow invites you out on a date!
